Food quality is pretty good, although most menus are sweeter than in other Thai restaurants. The service is ok, but they seemed too busy to be excellent. Phat Thai is the best menu for me from here

Was a bit disappointed with quality of food from Phat elephant. Maybe the best dish we had was the fried fish fillets. I found the soup to be too sour but my Thai friends thought it was too sweet, they could only give this dish a 2/10. The papaya salad was way too spicy, we asked for medium spicy but we all thought it was too spicy, our tongues were burning afterwards. The pineapple fried rice was alright but nothing outstanding. The customer service was good though.

One of the best Thai restaurant in Brisbane City. Its location in the heart of the city makes this place stands out and convenient. They have both inside and outside tables. The ambience is really good and the bar is another plus so people have choices of alcohol drinks. Always packed during lunch time and most of the times reservation is needed describes that this restaurant is quite popular. Maybe that's the reason why you need to be patient to wait for your orders to come up. The service is good for a popular restaurant. You will expect to spend at least 25 AUD per person to dine in, but it is still reasonable for a restaurant with delicious meals.

Excellent thai food. Must try the spicy fried rice, papaya salad and green curry. Lovely atmosphere and good place for birthday celebrations. I really appreciated the team organising birthday decorations for free.

I used to love come here because of the tasty food. I was a bit disappointed with food lately: too sweet and too blend, nothing near to what expect to of Thai taste. Maybe it would be an option to have a menu for authentic Thai flavour and a menu for „Australian style“ Thai flavour . Otherwise it’s a great place and super lovely staff. Thank you.

Was really looking forward to eating here as I read great things and the pictures looked epic. Not sure if it’s because we ordered at 830pm (close to last orders, although that shouldn’t matter) but we got the bbq chicken with rice, as well as the crispy pork belly with rice, the bbq chook was barely warm and quite hard on the base when we ate it, made it quite chewy. The pork belly was not that crispy, I couldn’t finish it all for that reason. The sauces with the meals were tasty and the coconut prawns were delicious. Good drinks selection and heaps of different foods to try. The staff were super friendly, heaps of seating and the decor is fantastic, very clean and toilets nearby with the use of a key.

Food was great. However our server seemed like she didn't even want to be there. We observed all the other wait staff to be attentive to other guests, but our server was always doing things at half speed, as if she wasn't a team player while the rest of the staff were working really hard. There was almost no communication from her. And when it came time to pay the bill, all she did was type in the amount in the EFTPOS machine and show it to me; she didn't even confirm the amount, show me a breakdown of the items we ordered, or ask where we were sitting. If we had one of the other servers, we would have given much higher ratings. It is a shame that the attitude of one person detracts from an otherwise wonderful restaurant.

This place is a very busy and lively authentic Thai restaurant. Service was great. Staff were very friendly. I don't think I could have faulted any of the dishes that came out except perhaps portion size is a bit small for my liking and pricing was a bit too expensive in my opinion. If you are into beer, they have large jugs available. I wanted to try the grilled pork shoulder and also the grilled beef but was told they both sold out. I may have to try those dishes another time... They didn't offer coconut rice, which I thought a bit surprising given it is on the menu for most Thai restaurants I have been to in Brisbane. That aside, everything was great. Highly recommended ordering to share the dishes.

Please ignore the 1 star reviews complaining about the spiciness or service. The meals were perfect and the the staff were super friendly. I think the portions could be a little bigger and cheaper but this is right in the CBD so it is understandable. Will be back for more!

Not too bad for authenticity. I would rate thrm 3.5 stars for the food. The setting was quite nice and the staff where friendly, I arrived only 40 minutes before they closed. I had the tiger prawn dish which was ok. I would try them again for another meal and perhaps the score would go up.

A group of us went here for dinner last night and it was amazing! We bought a bottle of wine and they gave us a 2nd bottle for free! We ordered the spring rolls and prawn dumplings for entres. The Pineapple fried Rice, chicken with cashews and basil, beef cheek massaman curry and chicken coconut soup for mains. The entrees and the curry and soup were to die for. For desert it was the rice pudding and chocolate ganache cake. Highly recommend this place, will definitely be going back!

Came here on a Friday night but still managed to find tables at dinner time! It was a bit noisy outdoors (especially the couple next to us where the guy was speaking so loud I couldn't hear my thoughts or conduct a proper conversation with my friend) but the food was great! Typical Thai restaurant service (frazzled but friendly). They try hard. We had a Crispy Fish with Papaya Salad and a Red Duck Curry with one rice. Yummy!

Great Thai food - had the grilled squid, massaman curry with beef cheeks and prawn vermicelli, all of which were really well done and large even though it looked deceptively small on the table. The chilli dressing on the grilled squid was the best with an actual chilli kick to it. Will definitely come back.

The absolute best Thai food in the CBD. The portions are generous, the service is warm and friendly, and the drinks are divine. We love coming her and do so regularly. I just wish they were open on the weekend for those of us working weekdays away from the city!

Generous food sizes, 2 dishes can feed 2-3. Plenty of vegetarian options and reasonably priced. We had the cashew vegetables and tofu which was amazing, as well as the vegetable and tofu green curry which was good, but a little watery. Service is good.

Extraordinary food and ambience you'd expect from an inner city restaurant. I love the digital menu and payment options. All their staff are friendly, professional and efficient. I wish fresh juice was an option. What I received was cheap concentrate orange juice. Please stop attempting to normalise obligatory tipping via your online payment. Australians tip when a tip is deserved, not expected. I recommend you make the tipping option available at the end of, or after the visit and not before you get your meals.

Smiley service. Table 32 I ordered laab chicken and added white rice (an option on the same page within the online ordering system) for lunch. The waitress came to apologise that laab was not available today and that they would cancel my order. No problem, I went back into the online ordering system and ordered something else. The rice that was on my laab order was served when it should have been cancelled along with that order. My new meal arrived so late that all my friends had finished theirs (they had slowed their eating to be polite). My meal was freshly cooked, hot in temperature and spicy but the enjoyment was taken out of the experience as I was conscious everyone else was waiting for me. Please work out a way to cook all the orders from the same table at a similar time to avoid this problem. The separate online ordering makes it difficult but you knew I would make a replacement order. I haven’t got a refund for the meal that was cancelled either.

AMAZING PAD THAI - would give the Pad Thai a five star! And was a good price at 15.90$ for portion (Had vegetarian - they have separate vegan/veggie menu you need to ask for). However the other food ordered wasn’t very good. The salt and pepper tofu was lacking in flavour and tasted very peppery, too much pepper / tasted like you were eating a peppercorn. The roti and peanut sauce were not that great - the roti was very dry and hard and the peanut sauce that came with was very odd in flavour (didn’t go well together) and was too cold. The service wasn’t the greatest but they got our orders right with a few substitutions so that was good! Our main meals didn’t come out at the same time (5-7 minutes from the first one to the second one) which was awkward. They brought all the appetizers and the one main at once.

My wife and I went there for dinner last night. Booked for 7pm. We were seated just before 7. We had veg spring rolls, spicy fried rice, king prawn basil and chilli, paya salad. Everything had the right spice and was delicious. Food came out quickly. I had a cider and wife had pinacolata, which took some time to come. We left at 7.40 pm. Staff were friendly and helpful accommodating wheelchair. Toilets were good. Key did not access disabled toilet. Will be coming back again.

Love Phat Elephant. Not your typical Thai. This place serves Thai Street food like paw paw salad, saigrok and Noodle Soup. Favourite dish is the Crispy Pork Belly with Green Beans-absolutely delicious. Meals are well priced. You can get a meal for 1 for approximately $15. It does get quite busy at lunch and Friday nights so it is best to book.

First time visit and super impressed with menu and service alike I had guests from out of state and I was so pleased I picked this restaurant. We visited on a Monday for lunch and it was definitely a popular choice with local city staff. We ordered an array of starters and mains including veggie, seafod and poultry dishes. Came in for a work lunch and all I can say is wow ! From the outside the restaurant looks tiny but as soon as you walk in the space is so beautifully filled and larger than you think. Our food was so delicious I went home and swear I dreamt about my meal. Surprisingly all the meals were very well priced and generous in serving size. On a stay-cation in the CBD for the weekend, my wife felt like Thai food, so I googled and found Phat Elephant only 200 metres from our hotel. I read the reviews with interest finding wide and varied results. I was satisfied that it was worth giving a go. My wife and I were delighted and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The atmosphere, service we received and food was all five star.

Food was okay but not fantastic. Chicken was dry. The pricing is reasonable and the meat portions are good. Worst problem is the lack of service. The staff simply do not pay attention. They are busy walking around but not looking after patrons. Had to ask for cutlery as we had none. Had to ask for water and our table had a terrible imbalance. Staff are courteous but just not attentive. If you can live with that then give it a go.

Ambiance was good, service was friendly, although slightly confused. Buzzer on table for service is a brilliant idea and although initially we thought a bit weird, after using it we are converted. What let it down was the food. We eat a lot of Thai food, this was ordinary. Wanted to order dumplings, no we don't have them. Papaya salad, no we don't have that either. Come dessert and with four options on the menu Pandan cake was the only thing available. Curry puffs and fish cake entrees fine, nothing amazing. Main meals were Choo Chee barramundi, tamarind barramundi and chilli basil prawns. I think everyone was disappointed with the fish. We ordered a serve of steamed vegetables on the side which was pretty lack lustre and unappealing . No, I wouldn't go back.

Nice a cosy place and I used to love it. But last time we were there the food was very average and Tom Yam (one of my favourites in Thai food) was even below average - completely tasteless, just a bit spicy. Rice with vegetables and tofu was also nothing special, almost no flavour. Where are all the tasty secret Thai herbs and ingredients? I’m not sure I will come back unless their chef is on leave and everything will be as tasty as it used to be in a couple of months. Disappointed.

Tonight was the second time I've waited in excess of 40 minutes for a basic fried rice dish - my companions were almost finished by the time my meal was placed in front of me. Customers at a neighbouring table were seated after we ordered, and were served their food before I was.

In terms of food - Thai spicy is only recommend if you can really handle your spice and are adventures that particular night. I'm can eat hot food and I felt it was really hot (if that helps for reference). Also, their traditional drinks were really good. Do try that if you are there. The food was served in good quantity, where I was full by the end of my meal and my gf couldn't finish hers. Wasn't much expensive, I would rate it moderate in terms of pricing of the menu.

Very quick service, kind staff and a big menu. If you like spicy and they ask you what level you want be sure to ask for extra spicy, maybe even XX because the spicy I got was extremely underwhelming. The food itself is a bit hit and miss. I've had their red duck curry which was delicious, whereas their Pad Thai and Tom Yum is pretty underwhelming. Good prices for the city though and a good atmosphere so overall it wouldn't stop me going back.

It's okay. Food was good, just okay.I although the mango brulee was nice. Designed well. Staff are good, but not very friendly. They served our dessert together with our mains, not good at all. Luckily its a brulee so it didn't melt, but it would have tasted better cold. In addition, the table was so overcrowded with plates but the staff just kept shoving more plates on the table. Tables are a bit too close. Dress up when going to this place, treatment changes. Had a better experience elsewhere. Needs to be more welcoming.

Loved the place. Visited second time today. Staff are friendly. Food is delicious. I only had to tell the team leader 'Jube' there that we were here to celebrate my husband's birthday and she even got us a piece of cake with sparklers and party poppers all complete. We booked a large dinner table here for a birthday party and was surprised to find that the table had been decorated with lovely helium balloons! We bought a cake and forgot to give them the candles but they decorated the cake as well. So impressed by this service and nice touch. The food is lovely and so well priced. You really get more then what you pay for here. None of this compulsory large group set menus, forced out seating times or cake surcharges per person that some supposed fine-dining restaurants have! First off, the food was fantastic. Very tasty. What was disappointing was the service. It was attrocious. I'm providing detail, not to whine, but hopefully the owners/manager reads this to understand the service they are providing to their customers. We waited a long time just to have someone come to our table to take our drinks order. After again waiting a long time, we were able to get the attention of a stsff membed to place our order. We asked if we could swap out one of the dishes in the banquet selection due to an allergy to which we told there was no changes allowed. We ordered it anyway only to be told a few minutes later that 2 of the dishes in the banquet were not available and these could be exchanged for something else. After making changes to our orders, we were again advised one of the amended dishes was also not available. After placing our order for the third time, we struggled to get the attention of staff to place an additional drinks order. After some time, the meal for one person was brought out. 15 mins later, the remaining dishes were served. It really was disappointing to experience such poor customer service. Pity, as the food was good.

That said, the aircon didn't seem to work in our area or wasn't turned on, as it was insanely hot at our table. The metal cups are a nice gimmick - water tastes metallic and rather foul from the cups, and the water isn't even chilled. Had a few flys hanging out, too. We waited 20 or so minutes for dessert but ended up leaving without it in the end.

Great pad thai and caters well for allergies! Also, it is very busy - I found the best time to go is when it is raining as less people :-).

A frequent customer here. Although my Thai friends don’t think this one is authentic enough, it is still the No.1 Thai restaurant of Brisbane in my mind.
