Comments of Prendergast's Irish Tavern

What a lovely place. Great staff, great beer and mostly lovely food. Definitely worth a drive out too if out this way. Bought some locally made chilli sauces also from adjoining shops and wife bought some wines from the cellar. We will definitely be back again.

Love this place, it's a real hidden gem. Beautiful outlook, great food, awesome drinks, amazing desserts and really helpful and lovely staff. The setting is fantastic, and if you have kids there's plenty of room for them to run around outside or in their fully fenced playground while you enjoy your meal on their deck. We liked it so much, we went back two weeks in a row and were equally impressed with their meals and service both times. Highly recommend this as a stop off if you're near the town, or it's worth the drive if you are stopping along the way on a road trip. Has some nice little shops too to buy jams, fudge, honey and cheeses all locally produced. Not to be missed.

Visited the Tavern with a group of friends and had a great time, lovely facilities, free pool playing, enjoying the ambience of the deck and vineyards and of course a couple of pre lunch Guinness poured to perfection. Food was excellent with a very extensive menu, and servings were huge, evening dinner not required! Staff were friendly and sitting out on the deck over looking the lawns and lake very relaxing. Will be back, a must go to if in the area.

This is a wonderful Irish tavern located at Dusty Hill winery, the food, drink and service are all top notch, If you're looking for a great weekend trip away it's only a couple of hours from Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast and is well worth the drive, make sure to book though as it is a very popular place and can get busy

Hearty food but enormous serves.
Service a little lacking especially clearing the table while our mates were still eating...

Food was delicious & well priced. Service was good, however 2 meals on our table took a little longer. And we were a large party and we seated outside on a cool, windy winter's evening. Wish there had of been outdoor heating available.

The young girl at cellar door was excellent, booked us in for lunch. Which was absolutely delicious, would highly recommend. The new waitress we had was a delight as well. We will be back.

Very nice venue, in a large pleasant garden. The staff were all very friendly. I loved the warm vegetable salad, and my companions all enjoyed their choices. We all agreed that this was the best lunch we had had for a long while.

Fantastic gorgeous location. We arrived late but stopped for a coffee, glass of wine and garlic bread. The grounds and set up is stunning. Staff were amazing. Highly recommend this place.

Great food, Friendly helpful Staff that practice proper safe distancing. Unlike some Restaurants that endanger themselves and customers. I can only say Prendergast's is a safe Restaurant and Pub to visit in these uncertain times. Well done Staff, top shelf.

If there is one visit destination around Moffatdale which deserves a visit is the site on Lake Barambah occupied by the Pendergast family-it has a circular offering; grapes are grown on site, wine made by a clever chap Drew with years of experience, a restaurant nearby serving those on site, a cellar door tasting bar to buy while on the run, a tavern adjacent sells beers and spirits (for non wine drinkers); if you tire there is onsite accommodation; need a wedding, that's catered for by 150 person conference centre; creating demands for up to four or more chefs. It fits the calibre of visit local, drink local, respect local and bring your friends for a top experience.
I visited Moffatdale last Monday and remarked how good the 2021 vintage had been for the South Burnett (tasted exciting reds). As an experienced wine tour guide (I have hosted 25 of these in Italy and France over the past 10 years); I see the local reds in this region through the Master of Wine prism; just as expertly as a spiced Sicilian nero d'avola or a chewy Tuscan sangiovese.
Around Moffatdale the reds are mid-weight (not dense as with some warmer South Australian regions); not modest weight and crispy like the cooler nearby Granite Belt (cold place); and commonplace is easy drink tempranillo or medium bodied shiraz; neither very oaky to stay on trend with Gen X and Z. If you like big stuff ask at Dusty for the saperavi grape or across the road at Clovely Estate, request petit verdot (bruiser wines, big bodied, higher alcohol for muscled palates).
And before you go at the Prendergast place take a taste of their old fortifieds, now a bit old fashioned but warming in June when its under 10 degrees outside. Joe has been carefully stocking white verdelho and muscat, or some plumcake-style shiraz with a liqueur bent since 2003; and retained these bases so your drinks get rich and richer every year since. Raise a glass to Dusty Hill the wine brand; you must visit. Then buy wine, eat there, and eventually take an overnighter.

We visited the Dusty Hill Vineyard with friends on a day trip from Kingaroy and had coffee and dessert here. The menu looked amazing with some great selections but unfortunately we'd already had lunch. Unlike most restaurants (who buy in commercially made desserts), all the desserts were made in house and the quality and flavour was fantastic! Dessert prices were reasonable too! Definitely worth a return visit!
