Comments of Saké Restaurant & Bar

Wow, this is a fine dining experience. As a frequent customer of the Sydney restaurant my expectations were high. I was not disappointed. In fact I might put this one slightly in front in terms of the specials and the view is delightful. Highly recommended.

Lovely enviroment and friendly staff. The food was not bad. Decent beef and seafood selection. Service was fast and the overall experience we have was positive
M. J.
I gave it 5 because the food was spectacular. the private dining room was lovely too. The service was good and certainly nothing to really complain about. Did I mention the food was brilliant... The music was not matched to the restaurant and it would have been nice to hear Japanese style music while we dined. instead we had loud modern pop blaring above us. great for the young ones perhaps, but not for a dining experience to match the food. We did ask for the speaker in our room to be tuned down, but the took about 40 minutes to eventuate. The light was also very bright, just don't look up. Dimmers make a great evening experience. but alas, that function was not possible. I would come back for sure, just for the sushi and sashimi. and well all the food. Do come here and enjoy wonderful Japanese food. Coming form Victoria the Japanese style in Melbourne is very different, You feel like you are in Japan, Here I felt like I might have been on the gold coast.

Yumm!! I loved the cocktails! It was sooo goood. The tacos were probably my favourite and the sauce is absolutely amazinggg. Will need to come back to try the other cocktails because they were soo good! The service and wait time was good! Wasn’t long at all.
T. H.
We had the omakase set menu. Everything was excellent and the service was great too. The toothfish was brilliant. The only thing that could be improved was the rice in the urchin nigiri, which needed to stick together more and seemed a bit warm, however the urchin itself was great. Will definitely return.
S. T.
All the food was excellent, great menu (wagyu gyoza, popcorn shrimp both so good). The tuna I had from the sushi bar was really good quality. The Dragon Egg dessert was so much fun and the staff went the extra mile for us. Perfect end to our day.

I celebrated my birthday a few days ago at Saké and I can't describe in words the good service that I, not only received from the managers and waiters, but also from the chefs.
Mark, the manager who looked after us the whole night, made sure we had a nice table for me and my partner. When arrived, he took his time even though he was busy to go through all the menu that he knew from the top of his head, while giving his own recommendations as well. We noticed how busy the restaurant was on that day, and both him and Cristina were managing everything so well.
At the end, the staff made sure to give me a special dessert as my birthday gift. I honestly felt like a king. Will definitely come back.

This restaurant truly is my favourite Japanese cuisine restaurant in Brisbane. The staff greet you with open arms. A waiter/waitress is always ready to serve without you even having to ask, which shows the prestigious level of organisation that takes place in this highly regarded establishment. The variety of seating choices, from the traditional Japanese seating arrangement, to private rooms and just the average table and chairs, this restaurant makes sure to provide customers with options. The panoramic views that are visible from almost all corners of the restaurant provide a luxurious feel to the restaurant.
As for the food, the popcorn shrimp is undoubtedly a go-to hit for fussy eaters. The steak, though on the pricey side, was succulent and the truffle oil sauce that came with it (probably why the steak dish was spicy) added rich savoury notes allowing for the steak to have more definition.
Overall the atmosphere and the staff were more than welcoming, with the food being simply spectacular and really showcasing Japanese cuisine.
B. W.
Amazing establishment to eat. Contemporary Japanese food was a delight. The staff had copious amounts on knowledge about the origins and aspects to each dish. Great atmosphere, beautiful food. Definitely worth every penny!
A. T.
A Lovely Japanese inspired restaurant with Brisbane’s finest sashimi and nigiri. Food was tasty and fresh. Staff were lovely and well mannered, oh and don’t be a stranger to the dessert menu. I couldn’t take my eyes off the Dragon Egg! It’s a must, definitely worth it. Will be back soon for another experience
F. B.
Where do I start here ..
The waiter's were extremely kind, professional, helpful and made the whole experience delightful.
Food, wow. Amazing quality with surprising amount of quantity. A starter, main and side was the perfect amount. The truffles were excellent, the Wagyu was so tender and delicious. Raw salmon which you can taste the freshness. The wait times were also reasonable.
Price, yeah it's not cheap but you definitely get what you pay for. Well worth the cost, especially for a special night out. (This is a nice restaurant!)
I will definitely be coming back here. The whole experience was enjoyable and left very happy. The atmosphere was lovely without being really loud (could easily talk to my partner). Thank you Saké!
L. A.
We had a great evening last night. It was my daughters graduation celebration and the guys were excellent. They popped us on a table of our choice, everything was explained really well, they took into account some dietary requirements for one of our party really well, their service was just right and the food was fantastic - not one thing was bad or even average it was all really great. Cheers Lawrence
T. Z.
Very beautiful restaurant with friendly staff. However, they mixed our order and the wait for food was a bit long. Would definitely come back with friends. The sushi were one of the best in Brisbane, but the karage chicken and prawns were quite usual
J. C.
Sake is definitely one of my favourite restaurants. My picks from the menu are the spicy popcorn shrimp and ponzu kingfish. The sashimi here is some of the freshest I have ever had and you always leave feeling satisfied but not heavy.
J. E.
My wife and I had an escape from the weekly grind here a few weeks ago. Lovely setting, great staff and the food was amazing. We had the set menu 'Classics' and were very happy with our choice, bar the last dish which was a braised lamb. It didn't really fit in with the menu, and felt like more of a fill-you-up-before-you-go option, which was a shame.
Be prepared to spend a bit, but you do get an experience.
J. L.
Best Japanese Fine Dining Restaurant in Brisbane! Great food, awesome atmosphere, exceptional customer service. Shoutout to our waiter Noah for the delightful experience.
M. T. N.
We had a great night for my hubby's mini birthday celebration. The sashimi is very fresh. Pop corn shrimp is great. Hiramasa kingfish is awesome. Oyster is a little overwhelmed by lemon zest and ponzu but it's within my acceptable range. The only area for improvement, I think, is staff seem to be in a hurry rather than being attentive.
J. M.
Really loved the food, the attention to detail but also the fact that it was classy but friendly and it means that we can enjoy the whole experience without feeling uncomfortable. Really really brilliant. I love it when you go back to a place after a gap of time and it's as good as, if not better than one remembers.Special shout out to our waitress, super friendly, super professional.
r. o.
Great atmosphere and good service,
All foods presentation was good,
Everything was good
However Sashimi was just ok, not expected fine dining quality I guess,
My best pick is green tea ice cream dessert and karaage bao,
Green tea ice cream was the best which was not too strong flavour of green tea, even everyone who love the green tea ice cream liked it,
I will come back this restaurant when miss good quality of Japanese food!
M. D.
Great atmosphere, tasty food and good service. The waitresses were very attentive however on my desert they were a tad eager to clear the table. The table was just waiting for me to finish and everything else had been cleared. As I was occupied with an important family matter in my phone, they cleared my dish without asking and my fault for not stopping them but it was a tad sudden and all the previous times they had asked. Anyhow, we ordered the set menu as we made a booking through dimmis giving us 50% off the set menu. This was great as Sake has its fine dining prices attached. Although the dishes were great, the set menu will not fill you up. I don't eat a great deal but I was keen on more food. If I was to pay $110 pp and still needed to order more, I'd say that's a disappiontment, lucky I got 50% off so I'm fine. On that note, if you go on a Sunday, there is also a Sunday surcharge.
L. H.
We got the lemon yuzu oysters, sashimi, the chicken karaage bao, the shumai dumplings, the salmon tacos, the pork belly and the Brussels sprouts. We loved every dish and couldn’t pick a favourite.
w.
Food was patchy... popcorn shrimp was mostly coating little actual shrimp.... steamed dumplings were delicious... sashimi was good... tempura vegetables was OK but not outstanding... Bao was OK..... missing is a mid range wine option... 60 odd $ for a carafe containing 4 glasses ( not a bottle ) is on the steep side IMO.... not much on offer under that price point.
C. H. (.
A girlfriend and I came here for dinner on a Sunday night which wasn't too busy (no reservation needed). The staff were nice and efficient with service. The food was so delicious! Expensive so it's what you would expect but a lovely dining experience. The sashimi was amazing and the cauliflower dish is larger than expected.
L. S.
Took a client to Sake for dinner and had a lovely evening. Beautiful location and views. Food was deliscious. We didn't love the popcorn shrimp, just wasn't to our taste. BUT the Nori crisps with tuna and kingfish were magnificent. Good wine list
D. r.
The food was amazing! the customer service from a staff member named daniel? was absolutely exceptional. i will definitely be back
J. L.
Good service but when I ate Sashimi has fish bone in inside after waiter provided us with compensation, overall was good
S.
Relaxed dining with delicious Japanese food with some modern twists. The meal highlights...sashimi combo, popcorn sushi roll, ceviche taco, karaago bao and the the Japanese whiskey ice cream. Also, if you love your whiskey, they have whiskey flights, a tasting plate of three whiskies - House of Suntory brings together three great Japanese Whiskies.
Z. H.
Everything was delicious, and they catered really well to our dietary requirements — even the person with a soy allergy!
K. R.
everything here is so delicious and definitely all needs to be shared. I loved the popcorn shrimp, brussels sprouts, and kingfish sashimi. the staff take really good care of you too.
T.
Sake is the perfect restaurant for a date night or a work dinner with semi private rooms next to the open kitchen.
The banquet option is available if you have decision making fatigue and won’t leave you feeling hungry at the end.
Only one piece of negative feedback. We were in a semi private room with clients and the waitresses missed our drink order and it felt like they forgot about us half way through our meal. It was busy that night so could have been a one off incident as the restaurant is adjusting to increased patronage after lockdowns etc.
W. W.
Always an amazing experience to visit Saké Restaurant, whether it is in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. Thank you to the amazing wait staff and chefs 👏👏👏👏
G. C.
This is a great place to have dinner, we had the chef's omasake set menu and it was absolutely delicious! The service was great and the place had a lovely atmosphere, would definitely recommend! Some plum wine at the end didn't go astray
S. V.
Had an amazing experience first time at a fine dining restaurant would recommend, ask for Noah he is the best server I have ever met
B. X.
Everything is perfect at this restaurant, really had a great meal right here, btw I’m really surprised by the desert!!👍
C. S.
The meal was exquisite, we enjoyed amazing food, perfect wine, and just the atmosphere, location was brilliant, a little on the high side for mt budget, but worth every cent to spoil your date.
C. L.
Always loved Sake's food~ everytime I go there, there's always something new~😋 we had the set menu and the portion size was definitely enough! Definitely recommend
O. M.
Expensive restaurant. We had a set menu. The timing is good. The rose wine is perfect. The views are great. Not 5 stars for me because of value/money balance.
c. K.
Absolutely delightful visit every time I go there. The atmosphere and the vibe in this restaurant is so soothing and relaxing. Really appreciate the chefs’ phenomenal work and the service crew as well! The service crew is very attentive and the waitress we were served was so lovely and professional. We are sort of often diners in this restaurant. Would recommend for anyone who has passion and loves contemporary Japanese cuisine.Sashimi was so fresh and everything was to the perfection. Thank you sake Brisbane team for your wonderful service and food!
R. Y.
Absolutely fantastic food! Everything was cooked to perfection and perfectly presented.
H. N.
Amazing Japanese food. We went here for lunch as a family with 2 young kids. The service was great and the food was delicious. Although it is on the more expensive side for a meal, you can tell the food is incredibly fresh and of higher quality that your standard sushi restaurant. The desserts were definitely a winner for our kids.
N.
My partner took me here for my birthday. I really enjoyed the meal. And service was awesome. But just bit over price.
L. M.
Amazing experience. Worth every cent.
Definitely one of Brisbane best restaurants.
C. W.
Amazing restaurant, all staff were so friendly and accommodating. High quality food and I highly recommend.
S. R.
Wow, just WOW! Absolutely DELICIOUS! The food was incredible, the service Fabulous and the view stunning!!! It made for a great date night! Thank you!!!
R. T.
Always a nice atmosphere with great views. Food items are a small portion but its quality over quantity and are all delicious and artistic.
Some interesting cocktails using Japanese whiskeys and sake, a must try.
Definitely worth the experience.
S.
Amazing food. The flavours are interesting and goes well together. Super fresh and super good.
A. C.
Amazing food, wonderful service, delicious cocktails and an uninterrupted view always keeps me coming back.
E. L.
Great atmosphere, ingredients are fresh however portions are not generous as what you’d expect in a fine dining restaurant
A. F.
Very nice Japanese restaurant with an interesting twist on every dish. A bit on the pricy range but high quality.
R. S.
My favourite place to dine in all of Australia. The pictures say it all
K. U.
So fresh and delicious. Our waitress was so accommodating as well
C. F.
As good as the Sydney version, but with way better views! The shrimp popcorn is just amazing.
D. J. S.
Simply divine menu with an exquisite taste to the palate. Staff are brilliant and knowledgeable of suggested options by preferred taste.
Plates come out in an easy to share way if you want more than one option.
V. H.
The manager daniel there was extremely friendly and so helpful! so nice to go to a restaurant and be greeted by lovely people
C. L.
Good food but a bit overpriced, we ordered $110 set menu each portion was very small, most dishes were share between 3 people.
f. t.
Amazing food, fantastic service and dangerously good cocktails, beautiful vibes, a great evening, thank you
B. F.
Amazing!!!! Stafd were fabulous... the food was outstanding... we watched everything be made... get the Dragon Egg dessert!!! Mindblowing!
S.
Its was that good the food didn't last long at the table, it just seemed to melt in your mouth. The service was so good and friendly. We didn't have a reservation but that didn't matter, it was nice to sit outside on the deck.
M. H. V.
Cool atmosphere, and very delicious scallop sushi and miso glazed toothfish!
J. V. C.
My wife gave me a birthday dinner at this spectacular resturant. The food was delicious and very fresh, artistic and divine desserts, additionally have an excellent wine list. The staff members were super friendly and attentive, do not hesitate to ask for the recommendations, which were very accurate ..!
A. J.
Food was great. We went for the vegetarian set menu. But a few things:
1) Waitress said they'd adjust accordingly for vegetarian but still charged us full price. Really U fair considering expensive meats were taken out of the menu.
2) It was out mums 60th and we asked for something special for desert. They said they would write happy birthday, but when desert came out it was nothing special.
3) we got charged an exorbitant amount for water.
R. M.
Great food, wonderful service, dessert was fantastic to top it off. Took great care in relation to one diner's allergy. Variety and taste of food was really good.
A. N.
Setting lovely, staff professional and friendly. We ordered the $110 pp set menu. Food was well presented and tasted amazing. Only negatives were the rice cracker 'burger' sushi. This was unecessary fuss and would have been better served with nori instead. Dessert was yum buy hard to eat on such tiny plates and large pieces of honeycomb. Wine very overpriced. Overall experience was but with Brisbane prices.
E. B.
Everything here is amazing. I recently returned to Sake having not been for a couple of years. It was always great but now it's even better. Best sashimi I've had in Brisbane. Excellent sake list, of course. Service would be hard to beat in Brisbane. It was faultless. I'll be returning regularly.
n. a.
I went there for a drink while i was travelling in the Brisbane. The staff was very quick and nice. The security guard was very nice. It has a full view of the bridge and river. Highly recommended.
R.
Can’t go past the oysters at Sake
B. D.
Amazing food, drinks and service! Will keep coming back for sure!
M. O.
Nice location, great service and good atmosphere.
the best Japanese restaurant I’ve eaten in Brisbane.
S. M.
Excellent food. The portion size was just right for two people, small enough to have variety and large enough to feel well fed. We had two entrees and a main which was enough but everything was so good we both had deserts which were delicious and rich without being overly sweet. There was a good cocktail and wine list but we settled for light beers which complimented our meal very well. Highlight was the Cape Grim beef. The service was friendly and attentive.
T. B.
Best restaurant in Brisbane, hands down. The atmosphere of the place is very nice and all the staff are very friendly. The kitchen staff welcoming you into the restaurant is a nice touch. The food is great, although pricey. You get what you pay for - an amazing experience.
J. M.
My partner and I were so impressed by our dinner and the service at Sake. The food was absolutely incredible (especially the 51’ toothfish, the sashimi and cocktails) and our lovely waitress Claire was super helpful and easy to talk to. Highly recommend the chef’s omakase banquet and the Hattori Hanzo cocktail!
S. O.
Such delicious and amazing food. You know what you are getting here, thats why we go back over and over.
R. M.
Each month we enjoy cuisine from a restaurant from a different country. Tonight’s choice was Japanese. We chose to book through “The Fork” Thus giving us a 50% off our meal. We had a degustation of the Chefs recommendations and from start to finish it was excellent. The food is all made to order and the Chefs are very organized and you can see their passion in what they create each time they place a meal up to be served. The service was great and the atmosphere all forms part of an excellent night out. The beverages are very extensive and priced accordingly. Highly recommended
C. L.
Fantastic food and amazing service in a beautiful restaurant. Could not ask for more.
P. H.
Very relaxing atmosphere. Great service and excellent food. Courses served leisurely, never felt that too much food was being brought at a time.
C. T.
Food was good. Minus one star because the waitress who served us was a little rushed. First she wanted to take the plate from our table even though there were still food in there. The second time was I've just taken the last piece of wagyu beef (haven't even chew yet) and she quickly came and took the plate away. She also asked us twice whether if we already had this & this food (which she supposed to know). All in all my partner and I still enjoyed the meal.
A. J.
Great service and tasty food
M. D.
Visited again to try the new classic course. Food was good. Service was great. Highly recommend the classic course
T. S.
Went here for a larger family get together. After we got over the initial shock of being told we were too early for our booking, and we would have to wait outside, everything turned ultra positive. As soon as our booking time came up we were shown to our table by a lovely friendly staff member who was extremely helpful. We did not want to order preferring the staff member to present os with a dining experience. We were not disappointed. The food we received was tremendous. The recommendations regarding staging were great and we enjoyed a two hour dining delight. At the end of the night we were amazed at the cost which turned out to be far far cheaper than we had anticipated. We will definately be back....
S. D.
I recently attended a corporate lunch at Sake and now I know why it’s always so busy when I walk past - it is amazing! I am vegetarian and was initially concerned there may not be much to eat but they actually have a vegetarian menu which isn’t widely publicised - you need to ask for it. The food was first class as was the service. The atmosphere wasn’t like some of the newer restaurants around Brisbane but Sake is known as a corporate lunch spot so it was in line with my expectations.
T. D.
Delicious delivered with great service! Love the Mrs Wednesdays! 🍸
D. M.
Great Japanese food. Staff knowledgeable of vegan and can assist with meal selection. Good for sharing plates. Really great sake options but best to ask if not familiar with what to be order. Nice up market decor and well laid out so somewhat private tables. Good drink selection and some tables with river views available.
N. S.
One of my absolute favourite restaurants in Brisbane. I was dining here on Saturday with a friend and the service was fantastic! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We are excited to come back.
P. M.
The kingfish and sashimi were excellent. Service was attentive. Disappointed with the disposable chopsticks. This was supposed to be high end?
S.
Went here for Mother’s Day 2019 with 4 adults and a child.
Amazing food and service, also made a requested basic sushi for my daughter that wasn’t on the menu.
Very expensive though, so only for very special occasions!
L. P.
Incredible fine dining experience. Near perfect, although can't get over some of the price tags.
A. L.
Friendly staff and service was great. Urban, modern feel of Japan. We had the omakase set for two. Food came out on time, nicely spaced not rushed and flavorful. Favourite was the salmon sashimi taco. Enjoyed our dining experience
A. M.
Divine 🥰 I was taken here for a lovely Valentine's Dinner surprise and loved every minute. The food...omg!!!! Service was exceptional and views stunning. I am so greatful for this beautiful evening.
S. B.
This was an exquisite experience! We booked one of the enclosed seating areas so we were in our own little world lost in the delightful ambience and had a wonderful time sharing the dishes as they came. We worried initially that the wait between serves was a tad long but this smoothed out and our waitress was friendly, helpful and we were totally pampered.
I'll say that this is not a place you go if you're intending to be frugal- but the fresh, delicious food is worth it!
Z. M.
First, you need to know that this restaurant is not cheap! Between the two of us, picking the fixed menu #2 ("new classics") at AUD 99 each + $69 for wine pairing + a separate beer, 4 bottles of water, and glass of warm sake + tip + credit card surcharge - we paid about $450 - I considered taking a star away for that, as I've not been to a Japanese restaurant this expensive, but I must say that what you are getting is actually backing up the price.
First, the service. We were served by a total of 4 or 5 servers and we definitely felt attended to. Occasionally the break between courses was longer than between other courses, but all that was perfectly fine as we had drinks and chatted. There never was any significant stretch of time where we were without food, drinks, or just checking on us.
Second, the food was truly amazing. We enjoyed everything. My friend has shrimp allergies so they adjusted his item from prawns to chicken. I have to say that the red wine tasted quite bad and we agreed it was probably corked even, but we didn't want to complain about it and I will not mark my rating down over that. All the other wine pairings were excellent.
Third, the environment is superb. I will try to upload a picture elsewhere. Essentially on the river, esthetically pleasing decor and calming semi dark lighting.
I am heading back to the US and I doubt I will ever be back in Brisbane, but I would not rule out a repeat visit especially if it can be expensed...
L. L.
We visited this restaurant as a couple on a midweek evening for dinner .The setting is beautiful, ambiance is a delight and the staff are very competent and super friendly too. We enjoyed some fabulous starters of mixed Sashimi ( 8 pieces , kingfish, salmon , barramundi and tuna ) and two different Sushi Rolls ( spicy Tuna and Pankor prawns ) all of which were amazing . We then continued with Prawn dumplings , Gyozas and tempura popcorn prawns . The whole meal was absolutely delicious , well presented and served exactly to our liking.
K. L.
Loved the food at Sake. Dessert was fantastic. Sashimi was fresh and mushroom dish was good too.
M. A.
the dishes have a great presentation and they are wonderful, I love this place I don't give 5 stars because the salmon sashimi has a very thick cut, and I don't particularly like it and it doesn't have a glass of prosecco or sparkling wine for under $20. Very expensive
S. W.
I've had a few really nice experiences here. One in particular the chef created a special degustation menu just for us. The waiter said 'if you're willing to trust the chef he will make you something special'. I said 'let's do it'. We went with the sake paired by our knowledgeable waiter. The result was one of the best meals I've had.
E. B.
Been here twice and once in Melbourne. Food is absolutely delicious. Toothfish is the best fish I've ever had. And the deserts are pretty cool too especially for a japenese restaurant. Would recommend Sake to anyone who'll listen.
J. Z.
a very nice experience sharing with a group of great friends. The food is fresh!
S. G.
I’ve been here many times great atmosphere. We sat in one of their both style areas very cute. Food is fantastic beautiful clean flavours... a little pricey my average spend there is approximately $100-$130 per person... which is starting to get up there.
All in all fantastic place to eat
m. K.
Food was excellent and the wagyu was delicious .
But too expensive
M. Z.
Brisbane's best Japanese cuisine experience. Incredibly attentive and knowledgeable staff always happy with a recommendation, incredible tasting immaculately presented food, and a darkly lit romantic atmosphere. Prepare for a price night but worth every cent.

Dégustation is the careful, appreciative tasting of various foods, focusing on the gustatory system, the senses and high culinary art......
Saké's Set Menu is an absolutely amazing trip through the culinary senses each course making you want just a bit more. I've unfortunately read too many reviews of people complaining about the SIZE of their set menu. But Saké's set menu is their Dégustation so people who are whinging about the size obviously either don't understand what dégustation is or are huge eaters as by the time we got to the chocolate cake dessert we were both very satisfied. I actually struggle at a lot of restaurants to finish my meal. Especially places that boast about their serving sizes. I'd rather feel satisfied than overly full.
We were lucky to book online and got 50% off our set menu.
The set menu was beautifully timed. Wasn't a rush or too slow. Just the right timing.
The restaurant itself is just gorgeous and the views are seriously spectacular.
Only giving 4 stars because of the terrible service. They couldn't find our booking in their system and our waiters seemed very rude indeed. It left us wondering did we get rude service because we paid less? And if that is the case that is very bad business model. You shouldn't treat people worse because they were savvy enough to book online and find a discount.
But the food and atmosphere tried really hard to make up for the disgusting service.
A. Y.
"I think that's the best dining experience I've ever had" was echoed around our table at the end of our banquet. We were proud to take our guests to Saké, not just for a meal but an experience. A classy, professional and friendly atmosphere with outstanding attention to detail and beautifully themed decor. The food and cocktails were delicious and the servings were more than sufficient. The service was prompt and informative and every member of staff smiled when we caught their eye. Thank you Saké. We will be back soon.
D. A.
Stunning food and service. My 'go to' place for celebrations and when I just want the best dining experience and don't care about the cost.
The sashimi and fish are of the freshest quality and the fusion dishes are always amazing.
Their prawn dumplings have been on the menu since they opened and are still definitely worth adding to the list of must haves.
Wine and sake list is extensive and staff have a great appreciation and will be willing to help find the perfect match no matter your preference.
Seating is generally communal although private rooms can be booked. My favourite for small parties is still up at the bar.
Bookings are recommended.
A. J.
Had a lovely experience at Sake today. We had the favourite set lunch with plum diaries (umeshu) taster on the side. Service was quick and really friendly and the food was lovely. It is on the pricey side but for the food and service I felt it was worth it.
M. C.
Situated on level one overlooking the beautiful Brisbane river. The food is a mixture of traditional Japanese & neo Japanese. The food always taste awesome nice and fresh. Drinks menu is quite extensive and interesting. Service is always top notch. Can't go wrong there.
M. N.
Very goid Japanese restaurant. Attentive staff and nice anbiance
T. B.
Loved the dishes. Was a bit disappointed that we ended up paying for 3 bottles of water @ about $10 per. Were asked once if we would like sparkling or still and assumed still was tap water. When the second and third bottle arrived without us requesting we had no idea it was @ $10 per bottle.
Perhaps they should offer tap water as a third option. Felt like we were taken advantage of
강.
Have been here with my girlfriend and we had amazing experience. Food wad beutiful and there was a friendly and nice waitress named Stella who was taking care of us. Thanks for letting us having fabulous experience at Sake. I won't forget this and looking forward to visit here again.
E. S.
Great service and good environment.
Food itself was very average, sashimi and vegetable temperura was nice, however wagu beef and barramundi fish isn't the freshist. Maybe because it's the cold season it's during holiday period when all restaurants are quiet here.
L. H.
The food was amazing and the atmosphere, however the experience was tainted by the fact that we were charged $20 for water without being asked. We said still water assuming it would be tap, and the waitress kept refilling our glasses and clearly opened 2 bottles at $10 a bottle. At no point were we told how much the water was nor was tap water offered as an option. Other than that we really enjoyed our experience and the prices were pretty fair for such a quality establishment.

Beautiful positions, just next to the Brisbane river. The place is very well decorated and is nice to spend time in the restaurant. However, the food is average and it is quite expensive for what you get. The New Year eve menu is not worth it.
On the other hand, the service is decent.
m. h.
Atsuko was so lovey and kind! She made our experience so much more comfortable and enchanting!
E. T.
Our favourite restaurant, hands down. Worth every cent for the service, quality foods and excellent food parings with their sake range. If it's quiet, try asking for a sunken back table. It's wonderfully intimate. Book if you plan on going Friday or Saturday evenings. They get packed!
I.
The food is always exquisite and the atmosphere relaxed and comfortable. The food is shared which is fun and also practical using chopsticks. Unfortunately in our most recent experience the the service was lacking in the bar area. There were many staff but they were quite unaware of Thier customers at times. At one point, what seemed like the manager, interrupted our waiter to talk to him whilst he was serving us. The conversation was in no way urgent. A pitty for such a lovely restaurant.
M. M.
Some parts of the food were exceptional and some average. Staff were pushy and seemed impatient. Most disappointing part was
The bill, this restaurant is probably over priced by 25%... not a dining ‘experience’
K. C.
The innovative, decorative, delicious food takes your breath away and makes you do the yummy food dance! It's a pleasure for the eyes as well as your mouth! Excellent menu with freshest ingredients. Strong Sake menu as you’d expect. Order up and eat tapas style. Enjoyed great service and fabulous food. Waitress was great in her recommendations. Kingfish wagyu and popcorn shrimp all so flavoursome. Delicious Expresso martini to finish.
S.
THANK YOU DOM. Expensive yes, but it warrants it. Food is great and the service is even better. We were served by Dom, he was beyond professional and polite. After introducing himself and explaining the dining style (sharing plates) he asked the table if we had any diatary requirements or allergies and then ensured my wife's unique diatary requirements were catered too for the entire evening and advising what cannot be modified. ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT SERVICE. Would recommend to a friend
S.
Delicious Japanese fusion food. Had one of the chef recommend courses. The cocktails were perfectly blended. The jalapeño and cucumber cocktail was especially nice. Lovely staff and a great night.
J. W.
Food is great. We weren't too hungry so we ordered drinks and a few entrees--even so it came out to over $100. Highly recommend the tuna ceviche.
The acoustics of the place make it a bit difficult to hear each other.
M.
Everytime I go here the food is amazing and all sorts of Sake too, surprise surprise! Just make sure you book if you are planning to visit.
G. D.
The best sushi in Brisbane. It is a bit pricey but its worth it if you have a few dollars to spare paired with a great wine selection. Upper class atmosphere. Highly recommended
D. B.
An amazing place for a quiet evening. Walked in off the street when our first choice was booked out, but this one was far superior to the “first choice”. Highly recommended. The food was amazing and inspiring visual feast as well. Attentive staff that were quite helpful and ready to serve. Oysters had an extra special element that truly pulled it all together. The beautiful cherry blossom garden was also amazing to be under, even if it was just for show.
M. D.
Best Japanese restaurant in Brisbane. Amazing food, quality service and consistent everytime. One of my favs with friends and family. There isn't a dish on the menu I don't rate
J. W.
Exceptional. Trust the staff And ask them to give you their finest menu and match with wines. We had an amazing experience. Not cheap. But cheap isn't exceptional. Give this place the chance to deliver and they certainly did.
A. V. W.
Food and wine is good, although portion sizes are small.
I found some of the waiting staff somewhat aloof and did not like that I was seated (as a lone diner) at the bench facing the kitchen when the restaurant was less than 30% full.
C. T.
Good katsu curry. authentic Japanese dish, but it is pretty good. Great value for money as well, although prices have ill gone up in recent times. Great place for a quick lunch.
V. K.
I really enjoyed my experience at Saké. I particularly loved the maguro and kingfish sashimi, and the prawn dumplings. Waiters were very friendly and the restaurant has a nice ambience to it with beautiful, modern facilities.
F. R.
Great Sushi! It's on the higher end of price but the quality is great. The Uni (Sea Urchin) sushi is super plump and fresh. Service has always been great too.
W. L.
June 2016 - My friend and I had some amazing fresh sashimi and a great dinner. It's really popular so reservation recommended. Great place for a romantic night out since you can take a walk along the waterfront after.
A. R.
Beautiful positions, just next to the Brisbane river. The place is very well decorated and is nice to spend time in the restaurant. However, the food is average and it is quite expensive for what you get. The New Year eve menu is not worth …
G. W.
Just awesome! $90 for two for lunch inc Wine or a beer. The food was fresh, beautifully prepared and by three chefs that never looked stressed or flustered. I will be back
D. P.
Always great good and great service. Best restaurant in Brisbane
강.
Have been here with my girlfriend and we had amazing experience. Food wad beutiful and there was a friendly and nice waitress named Stella who was taking care of us. Thanks for letting us having fabulous experience at Sake. I won't forget this and looking forward to visit here again.
E. B.
Been here twice and once in Melbourne. Food is absolutely delicious. Toothfish is the best fish I've ever had. And the deserts are pretty cool too especially for a japenese restaurant. Would recommend Sake to anyone who'll listen.
J. G.
Great grandaughters birthday celebrations held there
M. Z.
Brisbane's best Japanese cuisine experience. Incredibly attentive and knowledgeable staff always happy with a recommendation, incredible tasting immaculately presented food, and a darkly lit romantic atmosphere. Prepare for a price night but worth every cent.
M. T.
Tried the degustation menu, plus 2 kinds of sake and 3 kinds of plum wines - beautiful! Monique was very knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make this a truly amazing dinner experience.
J. D.
Be sure to get the giant chocolate egg dessert. It's amazing.
F. M.
Mistakenly reserved a table at the Sydney restaurant but the staff were accommodating and found my partner and I a table, and made us feel welcome.
Service was excellent and food was delicious, would highly recommend the New Classic set menu.
T. C.
Seriously this was some of the best food I've eaten in years, and I've had a great couple of food years. Also the customer service was above and beyond. A great experience, would take a lot of convincing for me to not take anyone back.
H. B.
Amazing Japanese food. It is on the pricey side but the quality of the food is incredible. I've been here twice and both times have left impressed.
p. F. T.
Great food great service, it's pleasure to watch a team like this go about their business. Top tip try the sea urchin 👍
R. M.
Awesome place to celebrate a special event. Amazing food great service.
J. P.
Always amazing. Yuzu Sour cocktail and the popcorn shrimp was really great. Staffs are knowledgeable of vegan and can assist with meal selection too. Thanks
B. A.
Good service. Average meals for the price range. A lot better places in Brisbane for great Japanese food for a quarter of the price. Your paying for the location of the restauran- that is all..
R. C.
We had the Také no Hana set menu tonight, everything was AMAZING ! Super friendly staffs, top service and of course the food was delicious, we loved the nori crisps and the star of the night was the tooth fish, we had such a wonderful night, thank you and will be back 👍🏼
B. F.
Beautiful food and service, we had window table so it was a fantastic view of the Brissy River. Very pricey though. The Tooth fish was so amazing.
V. S.
Good selection of Japanese food. Staffs are knowledgeable of vegan and meal selection. If you don't know what items to order their good staffs can help you to fix the issues.
F. S.
I ate here for the first time last week, it is fantastic. The food, service and wine are the best. Unitl last Friday I really believed that Sono was the best Japanese restaurant in Brisbane. Not any more and order the edamame they are fantastic
G. W.
Just awesome! $90 for two for lunch inc Wine or a beer. The food was fresh, beautifully prepared and by three chefs that never looked stressed or flustered. I will be back
S. D.
Food was extremely fresh, flavoursome and a surprise birthday wish on the desert. Exceptional staff and service.
B. R.
No jokes, just amazing food.
N. D.
Excellent quality Japanese cuisine. Service was friendly and efficient and the kitchen was accommodating with my special request. My favourite was the scampi sashimi.
D. M. V. M.
:) It was not a dinner, it was an experience!! The first time I tried sashimi and it was scrumptious! They have flavorful food and the staff really add value to the restaurant 😊
J. T.
Great food, wide range of sake & overall a nice spin on the japanese cuisine dining, great service too, touch expensive but a fun experience
S. W.
Authenic Japanese cuisine. Sashimi and nigiri perfect. Gyoza and tempura fish cooked to perfection. Spicy ramen very good. Staff are very professional. Very expensive.
C. K.
Excellent traditional sushi and sashimi. Great range of hot and cold saki and Japanese beers. The private tables are a lovely atmosphere for a quiet conversation and great ambience
L. C.
Ah-mazing.
Even getting food delivered, they accounted for all my requests, food was packed perfectly, perfect temp, fresh. Cannot fault eating in or having delivered.
M. M. L.
Consistently above-average quality and service since it's opened years ago. In Brisbane CBD, it's as good as it gets for Japanese food of quality, integrity and consistency.
D. R.
A dining experience I will never forget. The food is great and service is top notch. The staff are very versed with the sake choices as well. Will come back.
D. H.
Dom was a fantastic waiter, and the Wagyu beef comes highly recommended. The first place I've been where allergy recommendations come detailed while ordering.
J. I.
Best dining experience that I have had in a long time. Wait staff are so helpful and accommodating. Food was AMAZING!! High quality :)
M. W.
Some of the best Japanese food I've eaten. Truth be told, it's not as good as my favourite restaurant back in Sydney, but it's by far the best I've found in Brisbane.
C. R.
Absolutely superb. Food excellent, service excellent, a truly memorable meal thank you so much wonderful staff.
S. S.
Food was beautiful, light ,delicious, fresh.. Great atmosphere perfect date night spot.
N. P.
Personally I think this restaurant is overpriced. The food is good but it didn't set my world on fire and for an expensive restaurant the atmosphere isn't what you'd expect - much busier and less personable.
A. B.
Excellent Food and Service. We enjoyed the set menu, great cocktails too. Beautiful views of the river.
S. B.
Wow!! Did the 7 course degustation set menu, amazing!! So delicious and beautifully presented.. lovely service as well
K. C.
The innovative, decorative, delicious food takes your breath away and makes you do the yummy food dance! It's a pleasure for the eyes as well as your mouth! Excellent menu with freshest ingredients. Strong Sake menu as you’d expect. Order …

Delicious food and nice atmosphere. Some staff were great but we weren't really told terribly well what was going on with our tasting/seasonal menu. A little overpriced for what it was in the end.
A. W.

S. M.
Great dining experience, great guidance from professional staff on sensory eating. Recommended for a relaxing night, having a great meal, overlooking the river.
P. D.
Modern Japanese fusion, good interpretation of Japanese flavours and techniques with a modern twist. The sushi is more western style, heavy in ingredients and sauces.
B. L.
Beautiful food, generous servings. Drinks really expensive otherwise would've been a 5 star.
A. C.
So good, would definitely recommend, we had several different offerings, all we're amazing.
