Comments of Southside Restaurant

Southside restaurant is a stunning venue to look at and dine at. Set amongst beautiful greenery and ferns just off Fish Lane. You have both inside and outside dining options that are both stunning. Staff here are really friendly, helpful and attentive, top marks here! The food though does not live up to the billing. It's Asian food with fun twists, although I feel they have gone overboard and tried to do too much. Every single dish has one flavour that just punches you in the face, imagine a kid pouring twice the amount of cordial into the team water, it's that bad. Whether it be ginger or mandarin it is too overpowering and you miss the beautiful produce they are using. I really like the venue and the staff here, but the food is way off the mark. I myself would not go back and would not recommend, but if you like a really overpowering flavour then this place is for you.

Amazing service! Great cocktails, food was great, a bit alternative but something special.
Pricy but worth it.
To the design, just stunning🤩
If you told me you can build an outdoor restaurant under two train bridges I wouldn’t have believed the outcome.
The interior design is incredible.

Had the banquet which was unexpectedly delicious! We thought it would be plain old Chinese food (and it was) but with a twist! My favourite was the spring rolls with potato and truffle. Next delicious favourite was the pork hock in the pancake with bean sprouts.
C. H.
Had dinner and ordered the banquet. It is a beautiful restaurant with great service. They were exceptionally accommodating with dietary requirements, one of our members was pescatarian and they brought our separate plates for him. The food itself was a let down. I was disappointed that dessert wasn’t a part of the banquet, which it generally is. The duck noodles were the highlight. I thought the cucumber salad was very under seasoned and the mustard sauce that went with the pork was overwhelmingly strong. I found the cocktails average too.

Great East-Asian cuisine, with a delicious range of dim sum noodle dishes and share plates, and offering good wines from around the world. There's also an 8 course menu for $69pp, with the option to add matching wines for an extra $35pp or $49pp. It occupies a beautifully designed building adjacent to a tropical urban garden that it shares with sibling Kiki, a banh mi and coffee hut by day and cocktail bar by night.

One of my favorite places in Brisbane. I especially love the ambiance of dining under a bridge surrounded by trees and shrubs, it’s quite a unique setting. My wife and I ordered from the dim sum menu. I’d recommend every dim sum option, they were all amazing. The smacked cucumber was a fresh dish as well!
Z. S.
This place is so quirky and is a breath of fresh air sitting in the lush tropical surrounds listening to the trains pass by overheard. Not a fan of the cocktail menu but have some decent bears and wines and also offers a breakfast menu. Amazing service, friendly staff and awesome location in Fish Lane.

One of my favourite modern Chinese cuisine so far in Brisbane since I used to visit @littlevalley_ and I'm in love with their dumplings flavour now time for me to visit @southside_restaurant in @explorefishlane and yes it is not disappointing me at all.
Love the vibe and service was brilliant 👏 The food plate up are instagramable and on point.
We were ordering pretty much most of their signature menu. I think you would better go with the group of friends and family if you would like to try their whole menu. Overall we had great experience there.

😋The staff was soooo friendly

Amazing restaurant top notch food and service. Nothing but fine dining and five star service. The ambiance and location amazing. I would totally recommend to anyone wanting authentic pan asian food with amazing staff. Totally recommending to all my friends.
V. T.
Good ambience good decor well executed for ambience even before talking about food and drink. Innovative fusion style. The lobster dumplings were my highlight (reminiscent of Rick Shores bug roll)
Very nicely done shanghai soup dumplings. Duck noodles had huge chunks of duck meat in master stock was most delicious.
Coral trout in cured pork, charred ginger and shiitake broth was great combo work another level of flavors. Reasonable selection of reds. Nathan our server was responsive and knowledgeable- did great job.

3.75 ⭐ - good ambiance, beautiful venue and super friendly service. Tried the:
° Master Stock Duck Ragu with House Noodles - noodles were cooked well, quite flavoursome although dish is on the heavy side
° Fried chicken - nothing spectacular, chicken is bland and there's not enough sauce
H. P.
Seriously couldn’t fault anything here. This restaurant is now my new favourite. Dinner and drinks were 10/10. Every bite was so full of flavour and the atmosphere was perfect. Loved being under the bridge. Our favourite food was the kingfish if we had to pick. We had a lovely waiter named Mitch look after us, he was fantastic. We’ll definitely be back as regulars!
E. Y.
Spot on baos and dumplings. Great customer service. The atmosphere is fantastic too. Highly recommended.

Southside is a hidden gem of the Brisbane culinary scene. From the personalised booking experience (thanks Jamie), to the lush tropical surrounds, modern decor, fantastic service (thanks Rocco), and the amazing food, I cannot fault Southside. We opted for all vegetarian dishes - there is enough to keep all of the veges out there full and satisfied. We had a Christmas Eve lunch booking (also my Husband's birthday) - started with cocktails, a glass of sparkling with some oysters, and then a recommended bottle of Riesling for our meal. Everything on the drinks list is expertly curated to match your meal.
Will we be back? YES, absolutely. Looking forward to spending some time in the adjoining bar area too. Highly recommend - but don't let the secret get out, I still want to be able to get a booking !!
N. J.
One of the both innovative restaurants in Brisbane with a distinctive Asian flair and a cracker wine list! Every dish we ordered was sensational. Can’t wait to return with friends!
J. L.
This restaurant offers fusion Chinese food. The entrance was somewhat difficult to find but it opens up to a courtyard. Staff were very friendly and helpful however the there were multiple issues with incorrect orders being placed.
Food was generally good. We ordered a number of dishes including Hainan Chicken, Chow Kwai Tiu, stir fried duck noodle, pork belly, stir fried vegetables, Xiao Long Bao, prawn dumpling, eggplant, mapo tofu and rice.
While food presentation was very good, the taste was not that different from standard Chinese restaurants.
Price-wise, I would consider the restaurant to be fairly expensive for the ingredients used.
J. M.
We found this little food oasis hidden off fish lane. We had 6 people dining for dinner and the service and food were great. Looks like they have ironed out a lot of the issues with service because our waiter George was great and made a number of suggestions that ensured we had a great night. The menu seems to be more of a fusion of Asian and Mediterranean inspired dishes. All were very flavourful and we will definitely go back again.
The restaurant is busy so it’s advisable to make a booking to avoid disappointment.

Nestled next to The Fox Hotel. Our wait team were really friendly and offered great service. They were of great help with assisting taking our group photos.
The foods tasted beautiful and fresh, the dumplings are made on site. Overall, a great food experience.
I would recommend this place as our group had a fantastic time here. We will definitely return.
J. F.
My partner and I had a fantastic experience here. We’d just finished work and we’re in a rush but wanted a quick delicious dinner. Our server Jordan was super helpful, pointed out the meals that would be out quick (and they were), really friendly and attentive. Food was amazing! Will definitely be back to take our time and enjoy Southside restaurant to the extent that it deserves!
A. S.
A spectacular experience from beginning to end. Great service made the evening and, btw, the food is awesome! We will be back.
M. B.
We had a really lovely evening at Southside. The staff were so helpful and friendly. Our waiter was fantastic as was the sommelier. The food was delicious. We were a party of four, and we all agreed it was so nice to sit and eat a leisurely meal for nearly three hours, without being nagged to leave or handed the bill. Something we all feel has ruined our other experiences in Brisbane lately. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars, was the cocktails, they were far too sweet. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
S. B.
Booked for my birthday dinner and let me tell you… this place did not disappoint!!
Truffle and potato spring rolls are a MUST TRY.
Service was exceptional, and the waiter provided suggestions of share plates that would satisfy the group size without going crazy.
I will be back very shortly, thank you very much ☺️👏🏼
D. E.
The staff and atmosphere was fantastic. Amazing out of the box cocktails. The food was good too but there wasn't anything that blew me away. The portion sizes could be a little bigger also.
p. s. m.
From the moment my dinner date and I arrived – we were treated like total queens. We sat outside in the cool air surrounded by tropical plants and gently lit tables. Addy/Addie our server looked after us and sweetly talked us through the menu options and thoughtfully selected wine list. It was hard to chose because it all looked so good. In the end we tried a bit of everything – all stunning. The kingfish came highly recommended as it should have, I’ll pass along that piece of advice on for free ;).
K. C.
This is a really beautiful restaurant, the fit out is really nice and the location is great. The bar Kiki nearby is by the same owner, and is also fantastic. Southside has great customer service, quite quick food service too. The dumplings were incredible, highly recommend the Lobster and Chive. I personally felt that the King Prawn Singapore chilli main was a very small serving for the price, the meal definitely needs some bulking out in itself. All in all I would recommend a visit, I think this would be a great spot for a date!
s. w.
Exceptional customer service from Florence, very attentive and lovely to deal with. Made our meal memorable for the right reasons.
Gave fantastic recommendations of menu items.
Food was of a very high standard, enjoyed by all including children l. We couldn’t pick a favourite dish as we loved them all.
Thank you, we will be back again.
P.
Order the banquet if overwhelmed by options, you get to savor most of their recommended dishes. Food is great and large drink selection available.
Atmosphere is nice, especially in the outdoor area. Trains going over can be noisy, but I think it is a characteristic trait.
W. L.
Service and food were average.
We ordered a banquet for 4 people and the amount of food received was not worth the value. Customers sitting next to us received the same amount but with two people.
Overall food was bland. For a restaurant serving Asian fusion dishes it is quite poorly made. The dim sum was good though that we can praise.
One banquet set was vegetarian. The options were very mediocre. At one point I was served the salad, the same as the rest of the banquet but just without the chicken inside. Main course was skinned eggplant that was undercooked and a little bit raw. The food continued to come all very coriander heavy.
If you order any Asian dishes it will most likely be coriander flavoured. Somehow.
Comparing to restaurants with a similar price like Honto or Stanley, this restaurant is relatively sub par, as you would be able to get more for your value elsewhere. As shown below the noodles was to share between 3 people.
Overall atmosphere was good. Service was okay. Although new dishes were served up all on the table even when the previous meal set had not been cleared. Good for vibes and photos and bar drinks.
W. J.
Wonderful Restaurant, Ticks all the Boxes.
Complements to Management and Staff.
Tracey and I Enjoyed our Lovely Meals.

Visited Southside last night for our 1st date and it was fantastic. Ambience 10/10, service 11/10, food 12/10. Would highly recommend. Waiter was incredibly informative and guided well on food selection.
V. “.
Nice posh restaurant in fish lane nook. Service is wonderful and staff friendly. Food was good and different except for the BBQ pork bao - I didn’t find anything special about it, taste similar to the ones you get from Chinese restaurant. Good atmosphere, pretty garden and lovely music. Can book ahead, they’re open until late. We missed out on the dessert as they ran out but the Vietnamese coffee tart with meringue looked delicious!
T. N.
Amazing restaurant with a cool vibe. Love the outdoor seating. Food was pretty good with the banquet, but I wish there were more veggie dishes or at least another vegie dish other than just the cucumber pickle for the banquet. The pork though was amazing!
Service was good and attentive :)
F.
Amazing atmosphere and yummy food with lots of options. Rocco who served us was a hoot and made our night. The cocktails were very tasty too. Will def be back.
W. K.
Really great food from the team behind Rick Shores. I liked the kingfish and the mushroom with silken tofu the best, and the potato and truffle spring rolls are also great. One slight disappointment were the Dan Dan noodles that were not saucy or flavourful enough. Fair price for the quality of the food and the setting. Will be back!
H. F.
A really nice spot, with great food and fantastic mocktails. It's a little loud at times from the music and the trains overhead, but fine to talk at our table of 4. What really made our night was the wonderful Aliyah, who was bubbly, helpful and funny. We had a great night and I would definitely recommend.
S. B.
We had a lovely CNY banquet dinner. Our waitress was Madi and she upsold the white wine well. The food was fantastic. It has a lot of mushrooms and seafood so if you’re allergic or just don’t like those dishes, I highly recommend mentioning this prior to your dining experience.
The best dishes:
- the xiao long bao (for my seafood allergic partner) this can be found on the normal menu
- the scallop har gow on the banquet if you like seafood
- the wagyu combination with the pineapple fried rice
I also thoroughly enjoyed the tuna tartare.
On an extra note,
Madi was very lovely toward the customers around us as well. She was energetic and handled mistakes well. As she engaged with us, she showed her desire to learn more about the new CNY banquet product offering as well as her input on what dishes could be paired nicely with drinks. She was friendly and is a vibrant addition to your team.
I live down the road and will be coming back.

celebrated my twenty first last night and had such an excellent time. the food was phenomenal and had excellent vegan and vegetarian options. the staff was knowledgeable about wine pairings and our server, jorge, was attentive and made it a very special night. thank you for looking after all of us.
H. K.
We had a small group gathering to celebrate Christmas. The night was lovely. The service was fantastic, they knew the menu and wines. We ordered the banquet- superb flavours and they can cater for vegetarian/ gluten free/ seafood freeoptions.
I was a little worried about noise.... but 4 trains had gone over before I remembered we were sitting under the railway track.
Parking over the road at the convention centre was easy and only a quick walk away.
E. R.
Delicious food and an efficient kitchen given it's close to Christmas, however the service left a lot to be desired and kinda left a sour taste in our mouths. They operate off a server to each table model, which when the server is stretched thin makes things difficult. Our server, while not nasty or anything, had quite a full-on somewhat confrontational approach which just did not wash well for my friend and I - especially when paying $170 for a meal.
Paying took about 15 minutes. We were told by one staff member we'd have to wait till our server returned, he then appeared some time later, took the money left for the bill and hadn't reappeared after about 5 minutes so we just left.
Overall I wouldn't go back.
J. C.
Stunning greenery and atmosphere. The banquet varied in tastes but their wine selection was on point. Great service and delicious scallops and cuttlefish sandwiches!
K. F.
Amazing foh and service the wait staff are attentive, friendly and accommodating. Kudos to the lady at the door (brunette with tattoos and perfect brows) she made the experience extra special, manager if your reading this you've done good she bent over backwards to make the fully booked place accommodate my 38 week pregnant cravings so thank you. The vibe outside is exactly where you'd want to be on a sunny weekend with lush greenery and beautiful people in the scenery . The pork with plum is a must try. Really humbled we discovered this place.
E. J.
Such amazing service, beautiful food. Set menu was brilliant, being able to try everything and the wine matched perfectly. See you again soon!
G. C.
Been to a few other restaurants in Bris that have a similar offering but was particularly impressed with Southside. The service was great, wine list was extensive, interiors were beautiful and the food was delicious - the kingfish and dim sum were a highlight. Would go back in a heartbeat.
D. B.
In case you haven't found your way to Fish Lane in a while, you'll notice things are a little different. The Town Square redevelopment; tucked underneath the South Brisbane rail line in Fish Lane, has become an urban oasis. The lush greenery and new dining precinct has brought with it new openings, such as @barbrutusbne, and the cool coffee-kiosk-by-day and cocktail-bar-by-night @kikki_kiosk.
Already one of the most popular dining destinations though, from the team behind Rick Shores and Little Valley, is the captivating multi-storey restaurant, Southside Restaurant.
The menu kicks off with a selection of dim sum featuring the likes of prawn and truffle har gow, herb xiao long bao, but a selection of share plates showcases Southside’s emphasis on communal dining.
The Hiramasa kingfish with charred onion, and salt & Pepper Cuttlefish Sandwich being must-trys, highlighting a diverse offering.
Rice and noodle dishes are also featured such as char kway teow with Moreton Bay bug and lup cheong (Chinese sausage) another highlight. Southside's beverage list is equally diverse with wines from around the world.
Try a couple of glasses of the Latta Rattlesnake wine... the perfect accompaniment to your meals..
Will definitely return!

Our first time at Southside last night was EXCELLENT. We had fantastic service from Jorge, who explained all our dishes to us to give us the most complete experience. We decided to have the banquet to get an idea of the menu, although the a la carte menu looked fantastic as well. We also had the paired wines, which were expertly poured by Jorge. A fantastic selection of food was on the banquet: highlights the spring rolls (not going to spoil what’s in them) and the pork mains. Also on top I decided to indulge in a dessert, and wasn’t disappointed. It was a coconut-cherry-chocolate dish. Excellent. Great wine list with lots of great wines. A highlight was the Chenin blanc. Thanks Southside, and thanks Jorge! We’ll definitely be back. :)
F. C.
Went for dinner and had a really wonderful night. Big thank you to Madi for her amazing service! Very attentive, informative and welcoming.
The food was delicious and served in great timing. The spring rolls and the duck ragu are a must try. The music, lighting, decor and general atmosphere were amazing. Thanks Southside for making our Tuesday night feel like a Friday!
V. E.
We had a lovely time dining at Southside Restaurant. The food was delish, and the wine and cocktails were so yummmmm. We were so well looked after by Addy! The mushroom dish was actually quite possibly the best thing I have ever consumed. Thanks team :)
M. M.
Had an excellent dinner at South side last night. Really courteous and professional service and great food. Even the kids surprised us by eating heartily. Fried rice and pork buns a hit 👍
D. V.
Really amazing vegetarian options. One of the best restaurants I’ve been too in brisbane. It was the perfect kind of fancy yet had relaxed environment. Service from staff was superb as well. My new go too.
C. M.
The services and food was spectacular. Rocco our waiter was so lovely and accommodating. We will be back, was such a great experience
S. Z.
The environment is super comfortable, funky and service is fantastic.
Yumcha is good, we had steamed pork bun which is standard and prawn truffle dumplings, which is unique, prawn is crunchy with a hint of truffle.
For main, We only ordered roasted eggplant, which is tasty n different but I wouldn’t say it’s a Chinese dish. We were looking forward to the Sichuan chili chicken, but it came as 5 pieces of Korean fried chicken pieces or karage chicken. There’s no pepper nor Sichuan chili at all on the plate, but a mayonnaise dipping :-o ,which is a let down.
We didn’t feel like trying other dishes after that.
Overall it’s a nice place!
K. W.
Beautiful venue, great atmosphere with the lighting and music. Shame that the food wasn't as good. We had the Feed Me banquet and upgraded to the wagyu. Nothing outstanding and we felt we could have had the same food somewhere else at a cheaper price. If I went again, I'd select individual dishes, which would probably work out to be better value and more filling.
E. J.
We had such a great dinner at Southside! Food was delicious and the service (Rocco) was impeccable!! We will be back for sure - fantastic meal!!
T. C.
Best food and service in Brisbane. Quick friendly service from all the staff made for a very pleasant evening. The food was amazing. Highly recommend any one to visit.
C. B.
The team at Southside made our impromptu gathering of good friends a lovely experience. Food and wonderful menu suggestions and service from Jordyn made the experience even better. The food was delicious. Looking forward to next time.
N. M.
Brilliant service. Staff very attentive and polite. Didn't eat but had a few drinks . Nice surroundings
B. G.
Food is always spot on!
The service last night however really let you down.
Towards the end of the meal - plates were taken away while others were still eating. Meals ordered were going to be taken away without asking if we wanted to have the leftovers for take home ...we literally had to stop her from taking the meals and had to ask for take home containers.
Once the table was cleared the bill was brought without offering dessert, after dinner drink or coffee (which we all wanted) and then at 850pm we were told we had to leave.
We asked why and she said the restaurant was closing...we mentioned that the restaurant is open until 10 but got told she wanted to clean up. There were still 4 other tables around us.
I've eaten here before and the service has always been good...last night was a bit meh.
A. R.
Always great to stumble on a new place.
The precinct has really developed well and the vibe for summer is great.
Stand out was the staff. All were really welcoming, professional and relaxed. Setting is well laid out and the menu, both food and wine, considered.
Everything we ordered was delicious. Got food envy when we noticed the Pork Belly...so will be trying when we return.
Really nice to see Brisbane stepping up.
J. S.
Totally delicious food. Nice setting , great service. Good to be outside during Covid. The food is really, really yummy.
H. H.
Fabulous service and food! They accommodated for our need for quick service before a show at QPAC. Can’t wait to go back to try more on the menu. Thanks Madi looking after us!
O. N.
Immaculate from start to finish. From the initial greeting, a sensational host and expertly balanced cocktails, then a meals which was huge in portion and matched with quality! Couldn’t be more impressed! 5 stars, highly recommend!
A. S.
Beautiful fitout, friendly staff and a really on point wine list. Food was mostly good however some dishes missed the mark for us. Duck ragu was a standout, despite not being remotely asian.
Z. J. Y.
We had lunch here on Sat. It was a very much delightful experience for us. We (four of us) didn’t go for banquet. Our highlights: mango and watermelon cocktail, truffle spring roll, both har gows, fried noodle, xinjiang lamb, eggplant, morning glory, Vietnamese tart and sesame ball. We found the scallop sauce was a bit too sticky for our likings. The only hiccup we experienced was with the waitress. We asked the girl what was green sichuan ice cream and what else would she recommend she said she does not know. Otherwise, great great atmosphere, delicious food and wide range selection of beverages.
P. H.
Dropped into Southside for lunch, first time, what a great experience, food was great, well presented and timing was perfect for us. But best of all was the server, helpful, observant and attentive, water refills and wine top up’s just in time. We loved it.
E. Z.
Excellent place for a long lunch with the girls. Bubbles were flowing, food was amazing and the service was top notch. Highly recommend!
S. T.
Great food. Original design and layout. Good space to dine in. We were served by Simon and he did an outstanding job at making sure our needs were met. Good food, good service. Do yourself a favour and give this place a crack.
K. C.
If you're looking for a quick dinner this is the place. The staff are very attentive and efficient - orders taken straight away and both food and drink come out very quickly.
Highlight of the night was the potato & truffle spring rolls - apparently it's designed to mimic a potato chip, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside - and I loved how the dipping vinegar brought all the flavours together. Cuttlefish sandwich was delish too with the sriracha being present but not too spicy. Hot and sour oysters had nice flavour but I found it to overpower the oyster (hubby loved it though). Mushroom & tofu was yumm, perfect if you're looking for a bit of spice!
Kingfish was sliced nice and thick but the dressing was a bit bland and needed a bit more something something. Lamb kebabs were a little dry, I like how you build and wrap it yourself but it felt out of place in an Asian style menu.
Will definitely be back for those spring rolls and to try some other items on the menu!
J. F.
Beautiful setting and food, and service was a real stand out. We had a fabulous evening and highly recommend the banquet!
A. M.
Love this place! Cocktail at the bar in an incredible setting, followed by an amazing dinner and great service in the restaurant. Smoked yoghurt is a winner and the duck ragu is a must. All of this before a show at QPAC.
M. N.
The location is so interesting under the rail line at Fish lane with all greens surrounding you. Feels like you've gone somewhere "different" and not South Brisbane at all which is a novelty.
Their food selection was delicious and would love to return during the daytime as it was rather dark and couldn't see the dishes for their full yummy potential.
Our host was a french guy who made our dining experience so lovely and he catered to our large group so well. Merci!
A. Y.
Good food and great cocktails! Definitely try the fried rice! And special thank you to Adam for his excellent service! His service made our dinner feels 💯+
J. R. B.
Came here with a few friends. We ordered off the set menu as wanted to try different things - it was so good! Food was yum, drinks and wine were great. Loved the atmosphere and will absolutely be back.
J. S.
My friends and I had a great time at Southside for dinner. The food was incredible and our server was lovely and super attentive. Can’t wait to come back!
L. W.
Thank you for a wonderful night, Southside. The place was GORGEOUS, our server was so lovely and attentive (I believe her name was Ann), and the food was delicious. Highly recommend this place.
J. L.
The private dining room was a little noisy for the 14 of us. The food was great and a good selection of wines available.
J. P.
Good use of a weird space. It's under train tracks so you get the occasional train running overhead. They've made it nice with lots of plants and outdoor furniture. We had cocktails, wine and banh mi. The team were friendly and accommodating of our large group. Good spot for casual catch ups.
J. E.
Was a lovely find and the coffee was delicious.
B. Z.
The restaurant itself is amazing! Sitting outside under the train line was an experience. Service was great too. We opted for the banquet to try a lot of dishes and I am glad we did. First course was the scallops which were delicious. Then we had prawn and pork dumplings and potato and truffle spring rolls which were sensational. The chicken salad was so fresh and full of flavour. Unfortunately, they were out of san choy bau which I was perfectly ok with as they replaced it with duck ragu noodles. These noodles were the best dish of the night, so saucy. I would come back just for these noodles!! Finally, we were quite let down with the pork. It was tiny and didn’t have much flavour and was a bit dry. When they change the banquet menu, I would definitely come back!! Great experience nonetheless and the cocktails were delicious.
S. S.
Had the most beautiful dinner and experience here.
Jed our waiter went above and beyond.
He helped me choose the perfect wine to match our share plates and made sure we understood the menu and gave recommendations. The food was spectacular and so was the ambiance.
Jed is a star and you won’t find better service anywhere else.
W. R.
What a great experience, food was wonderful, wine superb, but best of all we had the nicest waitress Sam, she was happy, helpful and had a great sense of humor, made our night, would recommend Southside highly..
M. K.
This is a destination! Sexy place, wonderful service, food is on point, cocktails interesting, good wine list. Been multiple times and it’s always great.
R. B.
Amazing dining experience! Went for lunch & it was absolutely fantastic.
Food, service, ambience & wine list all top notch. Beautiful fresh seafood cooked perfectly.
We were served by Jordan who was an absolute delight. Very knowledgeable & passionate about the menu. She made recommendations that were all delicious.
We will be back!
S.
Absolutely amazing food! A beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere and very attentive staff. Thank you Mitch for your exceptional service!
B. H.
We tried the banquet for our table of four and it was an excellent choice.
All courses were exciting and sensationally prepared and tantalizing in taste. I think the style is called Asian fusion. I won't try to describe the dishes in detail, because I don't think I could. But suffice to say that I felt like I was eating something special and created with skill and attention to detail and designed to be a test temptation.
We sat in the outside area which has been created underneath the railway bridge in a rainforest style setting. Here you sit on director style chairs, and I felt it was a bit noisy with the general atmosphere and the music playing. The lack of strong lighting outside makes it impossible to read the menu without using your phone torchlight.
The table lamp just does not the job.
I imagine it would be a completely different dining experience inside the very elegant two-level restaurant. Ir could delightful in there. So I would suggest an inside table unless you are going for an informal lunch.

Really great food. Had the early sitting for the dinner and our waiter was very efficient at taking our orders and getting food out quickly. Reasonably priced. Good location.

I came here for my birthday dinner with friends and was pretty disappointed. I had heard a lot of hype around the restaurant so my expectations were pretty high. The restaurant is beautiful and in a great location, however the service and food was a let down. The soup dumplings and potato spring rolls were great, however, the rest of the food was pretty average. I am a huge fan of hainanese chicken so I was keen to try southside's version, however it came out mainly as a salad.
The service also wasn't great. We had about 5 different servers. This was particularly annoying as one of us had a seafood allergy so every time they brought something out they had to go double check if it was safe for her to eat. The order that the food was brought out was also strange, after finishing the other plates we were given the fried rice and roti at the end.
I would only recommend southside for a drink and dumplings before a show at QPAC.

This was my third time at Southside, and they nail it every time. Great atmosphere, awesome staff and excellent food. Highly recommend :)
L. J.
Rushed in here for a quick lunch after visiting QPAC and getting back to work in Chermside. Mentioned this to the staff and they abided to our request, offering suggestions for the 4 of us. Food was superb and just enough for our team
Will definitely visit there again

What really makes it a good experience is the staff, they couldn't be nicer. On top of this there are some interesting dishes - Wagyu, kingfish, dumplings and some so so.

Amazing service ,food! Great atmosphere! New York /LA vibes, Greta music too! What else can I say!
T. R.
Brilliant! We had the banquet and the pork belly was the best I’ve ever had! I’ll be dreaming about that pork for a long time. The duck noodles was also delicious, plus all the entrees. The venue is beautiful and modern and the service was exceptional. Highly recommend!!

Had a fantastic dinner here. Food was great, service was excellent and the atmosphere in the outdoor area was fantastic.

This wonderful new Brisbane restaurant exceeded my expectations tenfold. Everything about the ambience, customer service, food, drinks and aesthetic is fabulous. I absolutely got what I paid for, a dining experience I will never forget!
P. S.
A secret forest of tree ferns beneath the train lines near Southbank. Surprisingly quiet even when trains run overhead. Coffee is good too.
L. B.
Really enjoyable! Food was delicious. Service and wait time was great, as was the setting! Definitely worth the visit.
N. L.
Walked out very full and happy. I had the duck noodles and the duck was so tender, the flavours just right, a good side of chilli. My partner was also very happy with her meal. Nice little spot. Would go again.
L. T.
Wonderful food and atmosphere. The waitstaff were knowledgeable and attentive. There was a patron at the restaurant who was causing a fuss which unfortunately put a damper on our evening, but I don’t feel that was the restaurant’s fault at all!
I will definitely come again!

Good but not great. The restaurant is indeed impressive in its garden setting. We visited for lunch and chose the "feed me" menu ($69).Most of the dishes were good with some better than others. Many of the better ones have been highlighted by other reviewers which suggests that the menu doesn't change often. While It's definitely better than most other Asian fusion offerings around Brisbane (i.e. Fat Noddles, Madame Wu, Chu the Phat) it's not in the same league as Chin Chin in Melbourne.

Lovely bar and great spot, hidden away from the main road. Can order drinks from your table which saves queuing
X. W.
Nice ambience and service. Wide range of drink options. The food is a bit pricy for its portion and quality tho.
L. B.
Delicious food, generous portion sizes. The pork with plum is a must try. Refreshing cocktails with new twists on old classics. Truly awesome setting for dinner amongst the gardens!
K. R.
we booked as a bigger group and it was nice and easy. I recommend the potato and truffle spring rolls and the roast eggplant. the food came out as it was ready so if you're not sharing just keep that in mind. they were happy to split items individually too.
J. S.
Love this place! Great food, really nice and relaxing venue with friendly staff, I highly recommend this place and cannot fault it!
H. M.
Our time at Southside was really great, which is unsurprising given the track record this team has in Queensland. We started at the outdoor bar, Kiki — a place sure to become a favourite over summer — before moving inside to the ultra modern dining area. We ordered everything the team recommended and loved it. Special shout out to the dim sum menu and short rib. Can’t wait to go back and try the rest asap.

Surprising and inventive menu with novelty abound. A great family dinner with fantastic knowledgeable service from Mitch. Would HIGHLY recommend for some culinary invention and adventure. Delicious.

We went there for Chinese New Beijing and tried there banquet 89 per head.
Great atmosphere and service but food wasn’t that great. They had lamb “noodle in Beijing style “ noodle was too thick and wasn’t nice.
We had Snapper as a main and it was a bit over cooked. I would give about 3-4 out of 10.
M. P.
Great food, washed down with a cool Grillo in a funky atmosphere with attentive staff looking after us👍
B. L.
Amazing restaurant. Architecture is incredible and food and service is some of the best in Brisbane. Highly recommend. Put your name down for a table and have a cocktail while you wait to be called (you can take your cocktails up with you).
C. G.
Attentive staff, lovely atmosphere, gentle lighting, excellent (and extensive) wine list. Recommend the duck ragu and pork and prawn sui mai.
F. T.
Best customer service in Brisbane!
Delicious food, impressive wine list and the standout was how friendly, knowledgeable and attentive the staff are! Thankyou for a wonderful experience!
D. T.
First time eating here. Service amazing great staff. Food is scary good. Had the banquet, lots of bite sized things. Wonderful, more places should be like this. Well done. Thank you

This is the second time I’m been and the food continues to be great with excellent drinks/ cocktails.
The customer service was great and very attentive.
I will be definitely going again.

Would have liked to have rated 31/2 stars.
Firstly, kudos for the location and fit out, who would have thought a desolate area under a railway bridge could look so cool. The downside of this though is that concrete and brick amplify noise and with loud music added to the mix, it's not worth even considering a conversation.
We chose the banquet. The food was good but not spectacular. The gluey machine processed potato spring rolls are a fail in my opinion, the lobster har gow the highlight. The only vegetable served were smashed cucumbers, so in my opinion the menu was lacking finesse/balance.
This team has experience. Their name alone creates expectations as does the location and the look, sorry guys we were disappointed.
B. E.
So it was tasty and good, but reduced score because of the price and maybe some new/low numbers of staff. They were nice though. Nothing bad, but I personally prefer a dingey place outside of inner city/Southbank
I.
Great food but not outstanding like Honto. Experience lacked - a cocktail took 22minutes to arrive, the banquet felt rushed - much better when items are brought out gradually, the acoustics are awful and it’s so loud. Good food, lacked experience.
M. R.
Wonderful experience at Southside! We had some wonderful cocktails, and picking from the a la carte menu was fun because we were able to get some great dishes. Thank you team, for a lovely lunch!
S. G.
Great food and even better staff!! Been there 4 times now!
B. W.
Very cool and relaxed environment.
A great place to meet and eat.
Vietnamese food and drinks are fresh and unique. Definitely a place to show off to friends from interstate/abroad.

Kiki bar is beautiful. The green surroundings below the train way is absolutely classic. Short but interesting wine list complements the whole setting so well.
