We had breakfast at the dog-friendly ‘The Edge’ cafe today. What a delightful place!!! The staff are efficient and sociable, the food service was prompt, food presentation was excellent, and the meals were delicious. The views and atmosphere rounded off a delightful morning breakfast date with my wife and our dog. If you’re thinking of going here for lunch, please ensure you make a reservation a few weeks in advance … it’s no surprise it’s that popular! We will definitely be back.

Food was fine, normal cafe style food. Was a very busy morning but didn’t wait long for coffee and food. I think most people come for the amazing view of the valley. Most of the tables, even indoor, have a pretty good view. Definitely should make a booking to avoid disappointment.

We were greeted with a smile and got seated right away out on the balcony, perfect spot. The view is mint and the weather was on point. Food didn't take long at all, we got the beef burgers with chips and salad. They were quite nice and the right serving size for us. The drinks list has a great selection as well with locally brewed beer on it as an option. Service was prompt and efficient. We will be back for sure!

This rating is only for coffee tea cake and that view. This restaurant in the gorgeous little town of Montville has views that stretch across the Sunshine Coast such a beautiful spot to slow down and relax. The staff were friendly and helpful and the meals looked good.

Amazing views over the Sunshine Coast (literally the best you could ever want), seriously delicious food (any meal of the day) and the most beautiful and friendly staff. These guys are the most pleasant and consistently excellent wait staff of anywhere I eat out. You forget what great service looks like, until you come here. On rainy and cold days the inside fire place is a massive draw card too!

We had been here before so our visit was based on experience. We had a lovely table with a great view and the wait staff were very attentive. Our drinks and meals arrived promptly and were delicious and filling. We were given an option to move since a rain cloud was close by but we decided to stay as the umbrella was sufficient. The view is spectacular! One of the best I’ve seen from a restaurant in years. However, we had breakfast here and it was pretty average. Mine was basically stone cold, hubbies was borderline. The coffee and tea were also really not very good. I’m giving 3/5 purely for the view and it was a nice presentation on the food & staff were nice too.

Great place : the view is magnificent, the service is great and the food was delicious. We even had a young girl playing the guitar and it created such a lovely atmosphere. My wife and I have been there many times and we are never disappointed. Even just for a coffee it's always worth stopping by.

It was my mother's 70th birthday and she was thrilled with the location and the table right out the front. She is gluten free and there was plenty of options both in mains and dessert with quite reasonable prices. The staff were very polite and friendly and the 2 young trainees carried themselves really well. I will be back.

Beautiful view and amazingly friendly staff. We had lunch at The Edge with our lab puppy Bubbles. The food was awesome and so was the service. Bubbles had a great time getting lots of attention from the lovely staff 🐶. Highly recommended for families travelling with fur babies. 👍

We went for lunch there. It has absolutely the best view of the mountains. I had fish of the day, which was grilled salmon. The salmon was grilled to perfection, crispy but soft in the middle. You must try this dish. My girlfriend had nourish bowl. I tried some of her dish. It was ok, but very healthy. I think my grilled salmon is the best.

Stunning views! Felt like we were sitting above the clouds with a million dollar view while we ate! I had the prawns and salmon starters which were very good though could've done with less dressing. My husband had the fish and chips which he really enjoyed though again the salad dressing was a bit off. Would be happy to visit again.

One of the most amazing views in Australia. The place is really confortable, even though there are A LOT of tables and people, you don't feel that it is crowded, you don't hear the people on the other tables. Not only the view is amazing, but it is also surrounded by beautiful trees and the sound of several birds. The food is delicious and very well presented. The beef tastes really good, however, 40% is fat, I would recommend the restaurant to cook fillets with maybe 20% fat. It comes with a special sauce that just to think of it my mouth Waters. The staff is really friendly and everything is very well presented

We called before arriving to confirm they could accommodate our preferred seating area. Friendly and attentive staff. Great drinks and food menu. Reasonable prices. We visited for lunch this week mainly because of the spectacular views. The service however was very attentive, and they were kind enough to move us to a better table on the deck when one became available. The food was pretty good. I tried the Prawn Pad Thai and I couldn't finish it. Mainly because it was so generous. My partner enjoyed his enormous poke bowl! The view is really what makes this a special venue.

The poached eggs were hardboiled but when I asked for them to be cooked again, the staff were very obliging and the food came out again quickly. Other than that, my only criticism is that the avo could have used a little more seaaonong. My friends had the waffles, the brekky burger and the eggs benedict- everything looked great. The view is great and I would definitely eat there again. The value for money was good, especially for a touristy place such as Montville.

The Edge doesn't ride on its beautiful view alone, offering delicious food and incredibly kind and courteous service, even at peak times. If you want an all-round excellent dining experience, this is the place to go on a day out at Montville. The staff give thorough attention, with a clarity and manner that make you feel well-respected as a customer. They really show that they care about your dining experience. The menu is concise but focused. If you're planning to share two dishes, the mussels and excellent paired with the prawns. Interestingly, the bread that is served with the mussels matches perfectly with the prawns, and the rice that is with the prawns is delicious drenched in the mussel sauce. The beef burger is also delicious, and very filling. Finally, there is also breakfast service from 8:30am, and from what I saw on a school holiday weekday, there were plenty of tables available. If you seek a balcony table during a peak time, make sure you call ahead to reserve. It is worth it!

Love coming here for breakfast. The view is beautiful and a great location to stop for any meal. But I do have to say that the food is pretty average for the price range. Have definitely been to better places with small prices and big meals. Also, the staff never come near us during our time here. They don’t show you to tables, don’t give you menus/drinks/etc. The only time you’ll talk to a staff member is when ordering your own food and when they bring it to you. I ordered an extra hot coffee and it came to me cold. Wasn’t very good tasting either. I love the location and the atmosphere but definitely needs improvements in some areas.

Lunch with a beautiful view! The Meal was a take on the real Bouillabaisse. Slightly overpriced for what was on the plate. 34 $ = 4 prawns, 3 mussels, two microscopic pieces of salmon, 4 pippies - a couple of hard pieces of potatoes and 3 hard pieces of fennel and the broth a bit watery. The beer was nice and cold.The staff would rather be somewhere else. Very uncaring. But I suppose you pay for the view. That is the third time we are disappointed going there - won't be back.

Beautiful view. Yummy food (I had the crab scrambled eggs) and really good turmeric latte. Only feedback is 5 minutes after I got my food one waitress was trying to take my plate away and kept checking every 5 minutes for the first 40 minutes I was there. This makes it unplessant and not relaxing. I was there at 8:30 am and one of only 3 tables occupied. So not sure what was the rush.)

What a beautiful view! Eating while looking out onto the Sunshine Coast Hinterlands, could not have asked for a better day to be dining here. They're dog friendly, so no need to hesitate bringing your buddy. The servers were so lovely and on a busy day had full table service running. They checked on us occasionally and didn't feel too intrusive, seemed to have good team work between them. Food was fast, we were only after a small bite and a cocktail. We both enjoyed the crispy chips (and our doberman, too) and the duck rolls, however the pulled pork sliders were a let down - not quite flavorful or saucy enough, the buns were good though. The Bermuda cocktail was interesting, kind of like a Mai Tai.. Overall very nice, might come back once day without the dog so we can get a better view - no dogs near the edge but he's afraid of heights anyway 😂

We thoroughly recommend this venue, which has lots of seating, plus parking underneath & nearby. They have fantastic views of the Sunshine Coast, a restaurant with a great menu selection, a coffee, chocolate & ice-cream shop & a range of novelty & clothing shops all worth exploring. Fantastic view and great service! We got to the restaurant to see a very long queue, luckily we booked! Had the fig and goat's cheese entree as well as the crispy pork, both delicious but the fig dish was the best. Followed by the Barramundi and chips, which was ok, and the lamb cutlets which were great! We'd definitely come back here again.

This was my first time here. The restaurant is beautiful, and the food was quite lovely. Unfortunately being vegetarian I asked if they had normal jam rather than bacon jam for my burger and the lady who I believe was the manager quite rudely told me they do not have any other jam, rather than offering me another sauce to replace it - she made me feel stupid and guilty for asking for substitutions which is unnecessary because other cafes have no problem with it. In fact every time she was at our table she was rude. She made us feel very rushed and unwelcome. The saving grace was that the other staff, namely Michael and Luke, were very sweet and we loved having them serve our table.

The questions asked online, promised a much more special experience, given that it did ask whether the lunch was a Special occasion, which ours was. However, the reception waitress, on our arrival, did not know how many were in our party, we had completed our details online, which we then had to do again, no mention or indication was made, at any time during our stay, that we had booked a Special Occasion, so it does make one wonder why the question would arise at the time of booking? Scrambled eggs also not hot and quite watery - I feel that most of the breakfast ingredients were kept in a Bain-Marie for quite a while before serving. We also noticed a serious health and safety issue on the infamous deck! Dry rot throughout the Balustrade and some dodgey repairs. I believe this is an accident waiting to happen.

We ordered the carrot and caramel cake which was dry, and the caramel didn’t work with the traditional cream cheese icing. I've fallen for thing like this before. At 80 y/o/a and travelled a lot as a Sales Rep., I've come across a number of places that I like, really like, and absolutely love. But it's the same as a great fishing spot, you take a mate who the following week takes his dad who...........and a month later when you return, theres a crowd like grand final night. ........Montville has been a favourite spot for us to visit for probably forty years now. We have taken quite a few visitors (including U.K./ Japan/ Greece) friends there. When they revisit they always ask to go again. Every time more people there. ......My wife's brother lived in Montville for around ten years until he became ancient, and he introduced us to The Edge where since, we always at least have coffee (and of course a low calorie, trimming diet cake)........... Now here I go. Should I rave on about the fantastic views? The terrific food? The friendly and very efficient staff of beauties for my old eyes and for ladies eyes, the handsome studs? If I do that, it's going to turn out like the secret super fishing spot. ....... So, sitting here I've been mulling over how can we have the place to ourselves? Should I make negative comments about the view being too much to take in? How from so high you almost see the curvature of the Earth and the beaches seem at your feet? The noise of the birds songs? The lush greenery? Maybe I should get more personal about The Edge. How because it was still morning we only choose a couple of 'small' share plates to sustain us until lunch time, they turned out big enough to make us grateful we hadn't ordered full meals to follow. I'm running out of thoughts to discourage other people..... Only negative thing I can think of is, both coffees had the same fern leaf logo. Perhaps something Australian. Maybe poems by Henry Lawson and Banjo Patterson. VISITORS BE WARNED.

We got there around 9:30 & only half the outside area had been cleared from previous rain droplets on the tables & chairs, which of course were all being used. We were surprisingly lucky to start walking down as a group of cyclists were leaving their table (still a bit wet from their bodies lol), so had to wipe down the chairs anyway & the waitress wiped the table for us. We had to go up to the counter to order for our table number. While waiting, we admired the gorgeous view as black cockatoos flew by & made us aware of more sinister clouds hanging around. A waitress came by & asked if we order some other meals to which we sadly said no. We should've said yes, & just assumed the meal were ours & let the staff deal with the result. Our meals were brought out & they were quite lovely, but once the plate were taken away, another waitress turns up asking if we ordered two pots of tea? There are numbers at our tables! That is how we order our meals. If you want a place to be professional, you use the system in place! It is quite rude to have staff approaching tables asking them what ordered. They are meant to be announcing the meal as the put it down, or if it's a big group, finding who ordered it at that table. Then serving it to them from the left. When you know proper etiquette, you wonder how any restaurants get away with hiring staff without teaching them just the simplest of ways. They would've got 5stars if they knew simple etiquette that other restaurants do you.

As one of the only restaurants in this country that seems to have table service, the food and view were phenomenal, but there were a few service missteps which are making me knock a star off this review. We came here on a Sunday afternoon around 130pm. First, the carafe (wine bottle) of water for the table wasn't swapped for a filled one when we emptied our first, we had to ask for more water. Lastly, once we finished our meals the servers basically disappeared on us. We flagged one down to ask for a dessert menu and one was promptly brought out to us (and yes, we did visit the dessert case while we waited), but then no server ever came by to take our dessert order, we had to go to the counter to order it. Putting those aside, my friends and I shared the dip duo appetizer bread. It's served with a pesto and a beetroot hummus, with bread that's hot and has a drizzle of olive oil in it. The viking fillet I had cooked to medium rare was tender, juicy and delicious, and the jus it was served with was the perfect compliment for it. My friend got the beef short rib lunch special and he loved it. I had the macadamia nut cake, heated with a side of ice cream, and it was positively delicous as it was not overbearingly sweet. The views from the rear balcony are simply breathtaking, and the little area this restaurant is in is filled with cute shops and art galleries, so it's a great place to take a little walk after your meal. Definitely recommend!

We waited for a table for 20 minutes. It was at 1pm so we had no problem waiting. After being seated and ordering, we waited another 20 minutes for drinks. An hour and 15 minutes later our food arrived after I had been to the bar to get another round of drinks as nobody came round. The food however was cold and had clearly been sitting for a long time under the heat lamps. The manager however looked after us with great understanding and apologised profusely. They were clearly understaffed due to illness. Beautiful setting. Great management.

Beautiful location and view which is surrounded by some lovely shops that are mostly tourism related, food was great the couple of times we have been and they did a nice coffee add well but a little on the pricey side. Service could be better, asked if we wanted water when we arrived and it didn't come so we had to ask for it. On other times the service had been hit and miss as well. We always get told when we arrive that the kitchen is behind or food will be 30 minutes, not sure why they do this as it's a little off putting and we have only had to wait a while once. If using the toilet you will have to get a key or wait for someone to come out, they only have two keys and they have two big bathrooms which is also annoying as I had to wait 5 minutes and the restaurant wasn't busy at all that day, I do think they need to change this for the few people that might try and sneak in they are annoying all their customers. Worth the visit as the view was breathtaking and on a clear day you will see all of the North side of the Sunshine coast. Must visit if heading to Montville.

Stunning views to the ocean with surprisingly delicious meals. My wife and I popped into Montville for the first time on a Monday for lunch and chose The Edge due to online reviews being predominantly positive and for the fact that the views are great, so if the food wasn't amazing, NBD. We ordered a special of the day - Barramundi with crispy skin served with rice and veges in a Thai green curry which was delicious and a "Buddha Bowl" of tasty salad and falafel etc. Both meals were generous in size and good value ($33 and $24) and the staff were pleasant. One advised us that the local waterfall where we had planned to visit might be full of mosquitos due to recent wet weather as she had served a customers many glassed of ice to deal with bites! Appreciated the intel so we avoided getting stung. Given this could be a real tourist trap with transient customers there for tours and views, the food was a really delicious surprise and the views to die for. A good choice.

Just had lunch at The Edge for the first and probably only time for a late Sunday lunch. I don't usually like to post negative reviews but feel the experience needed commenting upon. The young lady that seated us was friendly enough and explained that someone would come to take our order, which they did, however no attempt was made to clean the table that was messy from previous diners, even though the place had calmed down after what I would presume would be the busiest time of their week. We ordered mains and drinks, and it was only once the table had been cleared that we realised how disgusting the tables and chairs are. Come on 'owners of The Edge', it's time all the tables and chairs were replaced, they are way past their use by date. I'm not a germaphobe but they are vile. And whilst you're at it, talk to your landlord and demand that they do something about the state of the toilets, they are a health hazard and simply not good enough. Our food came and was ok but overpriced considering the quality. I mentioned some of this to the lady at the till as I was paying and she thanked me for my feedback, and agreed the furniture needs replacing and the toilets leave a lot to be desired. It was a pity that the above-mentioned detracted from our experience as it could be such a lovely environment to have a bite to eat, with such amazing views. In my line of work in Tourism I regularly send people up to Montville on day trips, however I will be careful not to direct them towards The Edge until things have changed.

Great views of the Sunshine Coast area. Food was also good. A word of warning though. If you get the 'black brioche', what you're actually getting is a surprise when you go to the latrine next time as I believe the 'black' is actually, really, really, really dark green dye, aniseed, or something else. For a few moments you will wonder if you got drunk and was dared into drinking 2 litres of green paint the night before and simply can't remember it. Luckily this doesn't affect the taste nor the views Highly recommend.
