We stayed at the hotel in November 2020 but we didn't eat at the restaurant. A year later, in November 2021, we booked in at the Walnut. I had the char-grilled 180g pasture fed eye fillet, rare. It was perfect. The vegetables are a nice accompaniment to the dish. The meal portion is perfect for me. My husband had the char-grilled 300g scotch fillet, rare. He enjoyed his meal but was not an enthused as I was about my meal. We dined here again between Christmas and the New Year with a friend. My husband and I ordered the eye fillet. Our friend ordered the special. This visit we had dessert: one caramel tart brulee and one bombe Alaska. Both desserts were devine. Good portions for such rich and sweet desserts. Service was excellent on both visits. We'll be back again soon!

Came here in Feb and had a super experience with my friend. Very nice service with great dishes, you would sit in a old fashioned room and enjoy your time here. Still remember the fish and the impressive crab salad as the side.

Stayed at the hotel for a significant amount of days & every time we ordered room service or went down to eat in the restaurant itself, the food was just exquisite. Personal favourite was the Royal Spaghettini. The food was flavourful, good portions & consistent with quality every time & service was immaculate, especially Jessica (I think that’s her name), the best wait staff I’ve encountered. Will definitely return to dine in when we are back in Brissy & would highly recommend.

This restaurant is situated opposite to the Botanical Gardens and within the Royal on the Park Hotel. I came here during the The Fork 50% promotions and was drawn to the many positive reviews on Google. All I can say is that the food we tried were absolutely amazing. The food portions were very generous. I highly recommend the duck breast and seared scallops. This is a fine dining restaurant so expect to wait a while for the food to be served but was worth every second for the wait. Staff were very friendly and the restaurant was very clean. Definitely would be back. Highly recommended.

We visited most Brisbane restaurants over a number of weeks to be sure to find the best for a group of 28 friends and family. We chose wisely when we selected the Walnut. Belinda bent over backwards to accomodate or every planning wish and on the night William and wait staff provided the best service we have ever had. Food was excellent and the classic decore is unbeatable. Brisbane's best.

If you are looking for some old school class luxury, then The Walnut Restaurant and Lounge Bar is the perfect place. It is warmly decorated and the chandeliers add a touch of glamour. The staff are tentative and friendly. The food and cocktails were great and they have a kids and teens menu. You can easily have a conversation as this restaurant is not too noisy. Great for a special family gathering or intimate dinner. Definitely will be back 😊

The service was really good with a rustic wooden ambience. The chairs were comfortable and the waiting time for our food wasn't long either. The dishes were well presented and tasted amazing. Recommended to have their duck confit and crab spaghettini. The oysters were really fresh as well.

Date night place indeed. Critics who think there is no better way to make gnocchi, you haven't tried this place. Courtesy was extended all along from reservation till exit. Looks can be deceiving in terms of quantity as the food is quite heavy. Food really tastes good and the decor reminds you of being in the continental (John wick).

We always try to have dinner at the Walnut Restaurant at least once when we are staying at Royal on the park. It is a lovely old restaurant in keeping with the rest of the hotel. It may be a bit dark for modern tastes, certainly not bright and lively, but therein lies its charm. The menu offerings are equally traditional, but well executed. The service is always restrained but excellent. The prices are fair, especially for the generous servings, but if you chase up the hotel loyalty card, you can improve on them significantly.

Royal fine dining at it's absolute finest. I have been to a few fine dining restaurants before but this place is the classiest and finest but quite a bit. The professionalism of the staff at the bar and dinner service was as good as it gets. Loved the food as well, presentation was simply superb. I tried Rabbit for the 1st time ever, really nice, very cool as well how it was served inside the pot with the vegetable top and I also like the prune spread for the Ciabatta. Extremely happy with my Royal Crab Spaghettini Main Course. They were able to modify it for me as I don't like Chilli, I appreciate that I lot. The though there was a perfect amount of EVOO, I had a similar dish at another restaurant and the meal almost drowned from way too much much, but there was no problems here at all. Thank you for the outstanding 1st time experience :)

Great place to celebrate special occasions, was a shame that some other guests were very loud. Good selection of meals and drinks. Staffs were professional and very friendly. Sometimes they have special discount when booking with the fork. Desserts were beautiful, seafood entree is highly recommended as well.

It is a very traditional mains menu whereas the chefs clearly have the skills to do some other less traditional meals. But overall a lovely night.

This is my second time dining at Walnut, and the second time I've been brought quite legitimately to tears of joy. The truly magnificent quality and care put into the food really speaks to the immaculte proficiency of their chefs and kitchen staff, and is rivalled only by the exceptional ability of the waitstaff, and the genuinely wonderful creativity of the bar staff. Thank you to William, and everybody else, for eclipsing the very expectations you yourselves set upon our last experience at Walnut. I'd give you 6 stars if I could, but hopefully you'll be content with this, and my absolute confidence we'll be back soon.

What a great find! Truly fabulous food and exemplary service. This wonderful restaurant opposite the gorgeous botanical gardens has an amazing menu but still manages an unpretentious, relaxed atmosphere. Brisbane at it's best!

Oh myyy god the food is AMAZING - well, at least the dish I chose. I can barely believe what I ate is considered an appetiser, because I was plenty full from my crispy pork belly! The tea was nice. The milk was nice too. If there is not a cocktail there on the menu, you can ask the waiter to get the bartender to make one of your choosing and voila! I got myself a Midori Splice and it was nostalgic and delicious. The furniture is a bit meh, but that's honestly kind of minor - at least it still looks nice and is clean and neat. I will definitely come back here again!

From the second we stepped in and felt the ambience, from our first interaction with the lady at the front from our entree to our mains, this place has been 5 stars. I’d like to make a special mention to Rebecca, the girl that was servicing us. She was as good as a wait-staff could be. She promptly answered all our questions. She made our experience better than just “great”. She excelled in her services. The staff overall were very friendly and caring. The food had the perfect presentation, you could tell the chef put thought into the meals. We had the porterhouse and chicken breast, and both were cooked to perfection. Would highly recommend this place. The prices were pretty reasonable.

Fantastic service and delicious food. Exceptionally good for a hotel restaurant (although I get the impression that their main business is from outside clients). I had a spaghettini with mud crab, followed by Bombe Alaska (a little disappointed that they weren't allowed to flame it in front of me). The spaghettini was delicious, and the Bombe was amazing. Highly recommended.

Dined with my partner for a birthday dinner. We both shared the rustic chips which were so crunchy and delicious. For main, he had miso-glazed huon salmon and I had the char-grilled scotch fillet. Partner and I were very impressed with the salmon, literally melts in your mouth and perfectly seasoned. My scotch fillet was tasty but if they had more jus then that would be perfect. But hey, after all it is up to personal preference. Other than that the atmosphere and service were awesome.

Service and ambiance was fantastic and the calamari and gnocchi was delicious and that's all that was good at this restaurant. Scallops were so over cooked they were tough and tasteless, Duck was chewy and again tasteless. Lastly the pork belly was partly ok but the carrot puree was sour, in fact most of the accompanying garnishes did not match these entrees.

Staff were excellent! they were attentive and friendly without being pushy or demanding (I never had to ask for a water refill). The restaurant has a great atmosphere; comfortable chairs and also a view of the Botanic garden. Food was good, we had four entrées the gnocchi, the crispy pork belly, the lamb croquettes and the smoked duck all were beautifully presented and so very tasty. I must limit myself to only raving on this review about the amazing texture of the lamb and the duck because there were alot of highlights! FYI I came for a leisurely weekday lunch.

Best meal I’ve had in a long time. Hats off to the chefs! Gnocchi was melt in your mouth good, chicken was tender & perfectly seasoned and didn’t require any kind of sauce to boost it, and the creme brûlée was to die for! Clearly some great caliber chefs working at the Walnut - the food was simple, but full of flavour, and unlike a lot of other high-end restaurants, there was plenty on the plate to fill you. Absolutely delicious. Service was great - from the knowledgeable friendly barman making pre-dinner cocktails, to our polite & charming waiter William. Prices were reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food. Best value-for-money out of all the places we ate over the weekend. Decor was grand and opulent, but atmosphere was intimate and relaxing. Lovely location as well, with the Botanical Gardens just across the road. Will definitely be back next time we are in Brisbane.

Definitely can't fault the service. Made multiple changes to our orders and the new dishes were brought out promptly. Oysters were pretty big and were still fresh. Confit duck, gnocchi and the scallops were amazing - heaps of flavours on the one plate that all blended well together. The steak and fish were a bit so-so. They were either a bit over or under. Wasn't a big fan of the deconstructed cheesecake thing they had going on, but the pineapple throughout was amazing.

It is probably the most underrated fine dining in Brisbane because it is located between Eagle St and South bank (two most popular city fine dining areas). It is quiet and easy to get a table. The food tasted amazing. The seafood plater to share (see photo) tasted pretty good. I love the salmon dish. The Bombard Alaska cake tasted so amazing (see photo).

Great service from a super bubbly waitress. Incredibly delicious beef cheek entree. Other meals were good but not amazing. We had chorizo appetiser, char grilled steak and Christmas turkey. Liked each other's meals so much we swapped! Also had a cocktail which war very strong and delicious. Decor is beautiful with low lighting and quiet surrounds and big comfy arm chairs. Beautiful setting inside with the botanical gardens just outside, the season greens were a perfect accompaniment with a meal. Ordered the Royal crab spaghettini, couldn't help feeling ripped off how little actual crab meat was in there.. meal was still filling enough though, the Tonka cheesecake was novel but again tiny. Atmosphere really lovely! Lunch time was nice and quiet, I'm told it's much busier for dinner..

Timeless classic. We're not locals, and the brief was seafood. Walking down Edward Street, right into Alice, the Botanical Gardens on the left, we were struck with how stunning the Royal hotel looked lit up at night. I would typically shun hotel restaurants, but the Walnut was perfect. The tables were well spaced; the chairs uber comfortable; timber panelling and carpet to suppress the noise. The dining room set the scene and was a perfect setting for exceptional service, great wine and great seafood (oysters and scallops for entrees and salmon and mangrove jack for mains). Loooved our starters! The rabbit rillette and pork belly to kick off were great! We were super disappointed that duck wasn't on the menu but hear it may be making a comeback due to popular demand. My main of the barramundi special was great but my friend wasn't overly fussed on her turkey, thinking the garlic was a bit overwhelming. We had used the 50% off food voucher available when booking on line, so that was a great bonus. Service was really attentive and glasses regularly refilled. Happy campers and would likely return to try different items on another visit.

Booked the Dimmi 50% off food July special here last week with a friend and we left very satisfied! The food was amazing, so delicious! I had the calamari to start with, it just melted in my mouth I'm salivating thinking about it. Also had the fish of the day which was barramundi, again it was delish! And we tried the bombe alaska to finish because why not it's 50% off! Service was excellent, our waiter waived our drinks off for us because there was a mix up in the kitchen (which we didn't even know about). Wouldn't have known about this place if it weren't for the Dimmi special, but now that we know we would definitely come back and pay full price!

Service is friendly and the meals were nice. Decor is a bit tied but nothing offensive. I would have gone with 4 stars as the lamb and eye fillet I tried were both great (possibly a bit generous). The sides were average, ok but trying too hard. The down side was the accompanying wine was horrible. We tried 2 bottles and both felt like bottom shelf wines sold at upper shelf prices. The really need to consult a sommelier as they were way off the mark on wine quality. For this along I wouldn't return and almost gave 2 stars. If wine is not so important to you its OK formal dinning.
