A great restaurant and bar that does everything well. Exquisite selection of entrees, tantalising mains and delightful deserts. Go for the entrees of oysters, scallops wrapped in prosciutto, Sashimi... These are delectable - Light, flavoursome and delicate.
Wait staff are friendly and happy to give recommendations and also make drinks to what ever you fancy. Give them a challenge on creating one for you and be surprised.
Very relaxed atmosphere and located on the corner of Northbourne Ave and Rudd Street.

Went there for Christmas lunch 2021. Jason, the chef, did an awesome job and I watched while Brendan, Pete and Ben did a great job making sure everyone got their food quickly. Josh worked diligently behind the bar making drinks for everyone while Manik and Michael did a wonderful job supporting Jason in the kitchen. I know these people and they seriously put a lot of effort and time into making the experience there a memorable one.

What a delightful evening.
All the staff are friendly, professional and very helpful, as you need help here with a very extensive menu. I always love a restaurant with an open kitchen, showing they have nothing to hide. The food was fresh, clean and very tasty and the serving size was very generous. The service was excellent and on the ball. Canberra is a difficult place to dine but 65 Northbourne is a place you can go to and enjoy both service and food.

Peter was amazing.
extremely polite, welcoming and accomodating with a great open personality.
Cocktails were so perfect and food was delicious.
we only planned to stop in on our way and decided to stay for several drinks and food because we loved the customer service

The best restaurant we have ever been too. The owner Scott and our waiter Peter has the best service you could ever asked for. The food The chef prepares is amazing and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend you visit here if you are in Canberra.

We came here last night 8/12/21 with a group of 5 friends. Cannot fault this venue. The staff are amazing, the chef is hilarious. The food was indescribable, and beyond perfect. The cocktails are delectable. We will be back without hesitation.
Thank you!

Great shared plates for entrees and excellent steak for the main course. The location is usually quiet and has a cozy elegant feel to the restaurant. Friendly staff that are happy to provide details about the menu to help you make a selection suites to your own tastes.

My sister Heidi & I had a short stay in Canberra and decided to pop in for dinner at 65 Northbourne . This family owned business feels welcoming from the moment we walked in .Very friendly staff , food was prompt and exceptional. We ordered a shashimi starter share platter that was beyond delicious , and a seafood pasta main with a few wines . Introduced to Mr Smith, a smooth, deep shiraz that is now my all time favourite . If we lived in Canberra this would be our weekly spot to just have great food, great conversation , great wine ...a wonderful reprive from our crazy COVID world . Don't miss out ♥️🥰🙆♀️ deirdre xx

Nice environment for an after work drink. The platter was awesome

Exceptional meal & service. Shared the rib eye on the bone & it was cooked perfectly. Great wine list and the one we chose was a blend I’d not tried before and very much enjoyed. All topped off by high quality service from Nick. A five star experience

The food was the highlight here which is the main thing. The food took a while to come out and the decor was a little dated but the service was friendly.

Our first experience was great! The servers were friendly and happy to advise us on the menus. The presentation and atmosphere was great. Food was yummy. Owner was friendly and introduced himself. The only little bit of constructive feedback we’d provide was to possibly hold more inventory of wines listed on menu. We will be back.

This place is spot on!
The service is superb!
We were very nervous and excited to try lobster and blue summer crab for the fast time, the waiters took their time to explain how it works bit by bit and it was a lovely experience.
Cheers!🥂🥂🥂🍾🍾🍾

We stumbled across this great restaurant when we were travelling through Canberra on some recent holidays. The waitstaff were very responsive and accomodating, but it was the food that was the stand out for me. We had a number of dishes from their menu, all of exceptional quality. The kingfish was one of the stand outs. The soy reduction and microherbs it was paired with made the kingfish shine. The pork belly main was classically balanced with apple and cabbage, without feeling cliche. The chorizo entree and chocolate lava dessert were both rich and decadent whilst being the perfect size. A lovely restaurant. I wish I was local, I would be a regular here for sure!

WOW!
Visiting Canberra on Anzac weekend, walking by it was the live music playing outside that drew us over, wasn’t sure if we could just have drinks, but was made to feel very welcome, sat outside, had a few drinks, listening to live music.
Went for a walk around, ended back here looking for food, was booked out but squeezed us in, and we were so glad they did.
I had Chicken Florentine, served on a bed of mash, the sauce was absolutely divine, hubby had the Beef Cheeks, his first try and is now looking to try making them at home-we followed it with the Cheese Platter for two.
They had a guy playing the piano, the ambience was very relaxing and welcoming.
The young guy serving us, I didn’t catch his name, was excellent and made our evening very nice.
I very highly recommend a visit, recommend making a booking.
If I lived in Canberra it would definitely be our local.
Did I say the food was excellent 😊

Food was incredible. The pesto dip in the share plate trio of dips was a stand out and the pork belly was close to the best I've ever had. To top it off they stock Lyres dry London spirit which for those that don't know it's a non alcoholic gin, which not many places stock.

We had a wonderful Canberra wines evening with #McKellarRidgeWines followed by the Truffle Degustation four course meal. The evening was just awesome.

Great service and extensive wine list. Food was good and plentiful. Appreciated not being rushed through our meal.
M. B.
Great food. The price is a little expensive but it is acceptable as it uses fine ingredients and provide good customer service.
D.
Incredible food at reasonable prices coupled with old school customer service, the sort that makes you feel welcome and appreciated. I'll go back.
M. V.
Meh.. Great service, friendly staff. Food selection limited - Not a place I would choose to go to again.

Excellent food. Excellent staff. Very relaxed and close to the action in the city

Great service and friendly staff, went over and above for our 2 families on Christmas Day for dinner. The Chef catered for all food allergies and explained what the differences were. The owners entertained us throughout the evening. A must do if you are visiting Canberra or even if you live there.

Very nice Chicken Florintine, nice place, a massive wine collection

Dinner here was superb. I had the barramundi, my wife had the rack of lamb, both were well cooked and delicious and complimented with well chosen tasty veggies. Service was great. Would go again.
I. M.
Yep you pay for it but awesome different flavours. Try the sardines! Or the steak. Relaxed atmosphere with great food

Food is not the best given its price tag. Service OK.
C. W.
music was very loud. Conversations were difficult.

Cool piano on Saturday early evening.
D. S.
Great food and service
M. G.
Good selection though staff could be more educated on menu
M. P.
Poor value. Both meat and vegetables are tough and the flavors are unbalanced. Wine is expensive, not that special, and seemed to have been open too long.
A. K.
Great food and service
l. c.
Unparalleled dining experienced
Must have barramundi
P. K.
Lovely staff, good wine list starting at $14 per glass
C. R.

J. M.
Awesome food and drink, not to mention the staff and owners are so friendly

Oh what a night! Thursday night $10 cocktails cannot be overlooked. The Espresso Martini is my favourite and done to perfection. Highly recommended if you are visiting Canberra and don’t know where the party is at. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed by the price and the food is 5 star.
K. M. M.
Lovely wine list, not much atmosphere.

Regularly pop in for a beer and a meal - never disappointed!

Great place to visit while you are in Canberra. Nice atmosphere, has both indoor and outdoor seating, good wine selection, cocktails including mocktails. They have many food options such as a bar menu and breakfast/lunch/dinner menus. Pity we weren't here on a Friday when they have live music.

We dropped in for a drop after touching down for the weekend. Benchmark's can be a little intimidating to the budget conscious traveler, but is certainly something you must stop for, even just for one glass. Benchmark's has ample sidewalk seating, with table service. Inside is a collection of wine even the biggest snob would be happy to have in their cellar.
It is a small place, but very ordered, and the selections of wine you cannot fault. Even still, I decided to have a Mountain Goat beer...just because it was from Richmond, Melbourne (the waitress also knew this was a Melbourne beer). The prices on the drinks menu are high, but you are getting high end wine. One of our party had a Sav Blanc, for $10, so there is no need to spend big if you don't need too. If you want to have a special treat to end the week or to impress someone, I would recommend Benchmark.
The staff are very attentive and professional (if not attractive). You don't have to lift a finger once you arrive. The crowd is quite diverse, from girls with massive dreadlocks, to mature Canberrian's enjoying a Friday night tipple. The couple near us ordered a tapas of different meats with bread, and I heard them say how great it was. I would love to have stayed for dinner, but I had other plans, and I think it might have been a bit out of the budget.
If you are staying in the city, it is a great place for a relaxing meet up point before heading out. The only suggestion I would make is that the cheaper glasses of wine on offer are also listed outside, as it may put some people off as the displayed prices are rather expensive.
Sit outside, soak in what is happening around you and let yourself chill out for a while.

After walking past Benchmark a number of times I decided to make a reservation to eat.
Expressing some indecision about what to order a staff member offered to ask the chef to choose for us - surprise meals!
The sommelier was friendly and offered a couple of nice pairings to go with our food:
A slightly fruity sauvignon blanc to compliment the starter and a richer pinot noir to consume with the duck main.
Overall, I was happy with the meal and the service was pleasant. Questions about the food and wine were known and answered by the staff members who also sought to ensure we didn't require require anything whilst we ate.
My only criticism, and it is minor, was that the food wasn't given a brief 15 second introduction and explanation upon serving.
