Last night we went looking for a place for dinner along the Kingston foreshore and walked straight past 7 By The Lake because there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. But thank god we decided to eat there because the food without doubt is one of the best Indian meals that me and my husband have ever had. The staff were wonderful, they love a chat and the service was fabulous. So if your ever visiting the restaurants along the Kingston foreshore in Canberra, we highly recommend 7 By The Lake..........5 Stars from us :-)

Just had a lovely meal at this Indian restaurant on the foreshore. The front of house staff were so warm and welcoming, especially towards our little puppy, Teddy. The menu was varied and there were many dishes you just don’t see available in other Indian restaurants in Canberra. With lovely views, a clean environment, tasty food and great service, why choose anywhere else on the foreshore?

First time dining here. I ordered laal maas which was very hot. They could have cooked the chillis a bit more. I hadn't heard of this curry so I was expecting something different and exotic. It is a very spicy tomato based curry. There is little difference between the vindaloo and laalmaas. Service was fast and efficient, but there is room for improvement.

I got the malai kofta take away and it was absolutely delicious! I also got the cheese and garlic naan which was great too. When I picked up my food, there were only a handful of people dining in, I definitely think it should've been busier given the quality of the food!

Not sure why some people given low rating. This place has never let us down in food and service (and of course best view of the lake for any Indian restaurant in Canberra) Tried most of their items and has always been one of the best prepared. Their chilli chicken is our favourite! Keep it up guys!

Really surprised by the bad reviews given this is my favourite Indian restaurant in Canberra. I’ve eaten here on multiple occasions, it’s my go to place for people who love Indian visiting Canberra! The banquet (7 experience) menu is amazing, the portion sizes are good and the service is top notch. Lovely staff and management too. Most importantly, the food is superbly spiced and authentic to each region of India ... I’ve travelled there, so that’s not just a guess ;) Can highly recommend, I’ll be heading there the next time I’m back in the Berra!

My husband and I returned to this Indian restaurant and again, were not disappointed! I have eaten in most Indian restaurants around Canberra and this one stands far above the rest for quality and taste. The service we have received there is impeccable; attentive without being invasive and friendly. I have recommended this restaurant to other friends who love their Indian food and they were equally impressed. If you like Indian food, you will love this restaurant!

Dined here for the first time last night and couldn’t fault anything. Prompt, friendly service with the waitress very knowledgeable about the food, which was delicious and decent sized servings. Only four white wines by the glass but of a very generous size. We live on the Foreshore and will be going back often. I suspect the bad earlier reviews have been posted by people aligned to other Indian restaurants.

Small servings and super expensive. Food quality was up there. Butter Chicken and Vegetable Korma was hot and fresh. Cheese and Garlic naans had minimal cheese and were mostly garlic. Plain Rice for 2 adults and 2 kids was $16. Apart from the price the food experience was ok. I don’t think I will be back. The location and food Were not worth the cost of dinner.

This place was delicious, we dined relatively early and the service was fast and friendly! Delicious authentic Indian cuisine, I had a mango lassi and we shared the Vege Samosas and Chicken Tikka, and had Butter Chicken and Aloo Baingan for mains with some rice and Marsala Kulcha it was more than enough for the 3 of us! My only regret was not having room for Gulab Jamun! Delicious will definitely go again!

I'm usually a butter chicken kind of guy. I decided to branch out (not too much though) and try the chicken tikka masala. Absolutely fantastic. Chicken was cooked to perfection and the curry boasted beautiful flavours. Staff were very friendly. Will have to try the butter chicken next time.

Curries are good here, the lalmas not for the faint hearted. The saag definitely had a unique taste to it and would get again. Rice serve could be bigger for the price. Only thing missing from the southern menu options is a masala dosai. Licensed for those who like wine with their curry...
