My husband and I shouldn't have come here for our anniversary as the food was so amazing we forgot to talk to each other. We ordered the traditional set for 2 and a cocktail each -everything was delicious. The staff were really friendly, they catered for gluten free with no issues, the venue was clean and comfortable. Good food and service, I think it's a tricky thing presenting Sri Lankan in a fine dining setting. Pittu was our fave of what we tried. More filling than expected considering only one Pittu on the plate. Wish they had a dish with Appa/Hoppers as it's a fave.

Food was delicious. We were pleasantly surprised how good it was. Service was flawless. We ordered the village meal set gamme kaema. Only negative feedback which i hope the management will take a note of is the quantity of rice in the meal. It is meant for two but the rice quantity is just enough for one. Considering this meal is worth $80 which is expensive the rice quantity should be increased. Otherwise cannot fault the place will visit again for sure!

Magnificent Sri Lankan food. My wife & I thoroughly enjoyed our meals, being Kali Pol Pork with Mash inc. mustard pickle, rice etc & Lamprais - Curried chicken, tuna, eggplant, potato, rice wrapped in banana leaf. Absolutely loved this place. The food was yummy and the presentation was spot on. The service we received was fantastic as well. This restaurant is becoming popular each day so it tends to be a full house on weekends, (which only means it is really fantastic) so book ahead.

Our first outing, to a long term favourite, since a relocation. Banana Leaf is operating on a smaller set menu in this Covid-19 season. Nonetheless there was plenty to satisfy all tastes including one vegetarian. Excellent food with advice and guidance from the courteous wait staff on what had been well prepared. No BYO, but a reasonable wine list from which we chose a tasty Pinot Grigio which complimented the curry and spice flavours perfectly. Parking can be a challenge, but only if you are not prepared for a short walk from undercover facilities on the West and East sides of the Kingston block. So glad to see Banana Leaf back on the scene. Looking forward to the full menu when circumstances allow.

One of my absolute favourite dining experiences in Canberra. Perfect yummy spicy combination of wholesome and gourmet Sri Lankan fusion food. Their recent set menu during Covid restrictions is a must try. Yaka Bao and Custard & Treacle were my fav. Edit:- forgot to mention excellent customer service every single time. I don't usually write reviews... but happy to share my new favourite restaurant - Banana Leaf Restaurant in Kingston. When there are so many restaurants to choose from and our usual favourite is Italian or Thai - this was a great find. First of all - the service was fabulous! But for me the real test is the food and the Sri Lankan cuisine at Banana Leaf is delicious. We were all very happy with our choices... for entrée the Mulligatawany soup was delicious and the chicken pan rolls yummy. The pork black smore had us in raptures and the chicken Sri Lankan style biriyani was mouth-watering! All dishes are made with fresh herbs and spices (you can tell the difference) and whilst a little spicy - just the perfect amount:) Thanks for the great meal!

The food here is great, and the restaurant is lovely. There is an excellent range of dishes for anyone intolerant to gluten/dairy or is vegan/vegetarian. Just don't disagree with anything the staff say or question anything even to genuinely seek understanding. They range from rather abrupt, to downright over the top rude, mean, and incredibly (unnecessarily) defensive.

I've eaten here twice (2006 and 2010), the food and service is great. I live in Toronto Canada so its difficult to be a regular :) During my second visit, I ordered the Chicken Curry and it was incredible. Lots of flavour but not over powering. The service was prompt, they even opened to door to welcome you. Will definitely eat there agin this week.

Food quality, taste, quantity are very fine. But the lady who works at front is not flexible(Hope she is Philipino or Chinese) because I have ordered 2lump rice and few vegetables roti & she refused to make an omelet for my child because omelet is not included in the menu. Even it’s a very quiet day. But following day also we had lunch in here because of the good food. The chef who worked on that day made an good omelet for my daughter. Suggesting to put ghee rice in the lump rice instead of biriyani rice.

Banana Leaf has quickly made its way into my top three restaurants to visit in Canberra, I am obsessed! The food is incredible and a really fabulous example of authentic Sri Lankan food. Getting the arrack to drink is a must, and chasing it with ginger ale is so good. There are vegan options too, although no dessert choices. O recommend the vadai and mulligatawny soup to start and the strong hoppers for your main (these are truly amazing and come with so many little sides that you get to try a huge range of Sri Lankan tastes).
