L. M.Absolutely love coming here!! From reception staff in particular Nick, to the chefs for their amazing meals, the staff at the counter (Jason) and crew at the bar and dessert bar. Everyone especially Jason and Nick go above and beyond to make sure we had an enjoyable experience.

I order my steak and wanted it to be cooked medium, but it was very well done and tough. It was burnt in the outside and we'll truly cooked in the inside.
The sauce was supposed to be mushroom, but besides getting the color right, it tasted something completely " u mushroom".
The pizzas were nice and salads fresh and drinks fine.
The steak and chips were given a very generous topping if salt, too much!
Disappointed in the outing, except the company, waste of time.
Please advise executive chef to check it out before memberships check out with our feet to alternative venue.
C. S.I had not been there for awhile. I was disappointed to see several huge billiard tables in the front bistro area. There were less tables to sit at and most if the tables accommodated 8 people of more which a couple of us didn't need. It wasn't busy either,about 30% occupancy on a Wednesday at 6.30 p.m. Service was prompt and good. Our meals were a very good size, good variety on menu and the foid was delicious. We had originally come to enjoy a meal in the Thai restaurant that we discovered was closed even though the website stated it was still open. More pool tables there too.
Dining was very nice however, with less bistro tables and pool tables now prominent, it has lost the good family atmosphere that attracted me in the first place.

B. M.It's an alright place, nice ambiance and a good place to go with family for a lunch. The food was nice, though some meals were delivered over half an hour after the first meals. This would be understandable if it were full of patrons or understaffed, but the southern cross club was neither. The staff were really nice and the service was well executed. However I found it difficult to get definite answers when I asked about nut-free meals, there was very little information and I was told that not even the cook really knew, this is understandable if it were a distributed food-stuff rather than a house-made one, but allergens should always be marked clearly and the protocol on relaying that information should be more professional than than a wide-eyed "maybe" or "the chef doesn't know"
S. D.I was waiting for my niece to finish her chess game upstairs in the Corina Room. Went in search of coffee and the waiter at the main restaurant apologetically informed me their kitchen was closed but the gaming area cafe would still be open and pointed me where to go.
I was greeted by a cheerful young woman, who popped out of somewhere and lifted my spirits. I was feeling tired as I had a long day. I ordered coffee for myself and my son and a slice to share. Slice was beautiful but I am only allowed a small bite of anything sweet. sigh!)
We also ordered some takeaway chicken tenders for my niece and everything arrived 10 minutes later as the young lady promised. Excellent cafe with good people serving and caring for their customers.

G. R.Excellent value. My partner and I both had the Maple Bacon Cheeseburger and it was delicious. Meat cooked perfectly and paired with aioli, melted cheese and onion jam, on a soft, lightly toasted brioche bun. To make things even better, we got free drinks to go with the burgers due to "Wednesday Burger Bunanza" at the club. Would definitely recommend.

S.Third time visiting the Grille in the last 6 months & your order app still doesn't work. Remove the option from the tables if you can't get it to work. Don't waste members' time by having them sit around making decisions and building a 'cart' for their order, only to have it hang when you go to submit it.
When staff are asked about whether it works or not, responding 'yeah, sometimes' & then marching off is not really helpful either.
Either ensure it works, or ditch it.

We then moved to the lounge area and ordered coffee and shared a piece of chocolate cake, equally nice. Parking under the building was a new discovery for us too. I think it fits in better with all the other eating places in Woden now. Nice vibe!

M.Austere atmosphere, fast service, but certainly not cheap as there is up to $5.00 difference between the members and non-members pricing for the same dish (seafood pasta = $25.00 vs $30.00). If you're not particularly hungry then don't have the temerity to ask for something off the kids menu, even though the same item is not available as an entree on the main menu, as they will absolutely refuse to provide it for anyone more than 12 years old!
S.Wonderful staff and very clean environment their coffee was fantastic and very good chocolate cake. A receptionist by the name of Benny (Ben) was very helpful in providing information prior to our arrival. Over all a very excellent place for a coffee and or lunch.

I was in staying in Woden for 3 night on holiday with my husband and 2 friends. The club was just a short stroll, I got membership the first night. The staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. There was a lovely atmosphere, it didn't feel like a club. Food was very good so we ate there every night as there was a great variety on the menu. Would certainly recommend.

Beers are cold...so all in all not a bad place to go.
J. N.The whole renovation adds a nice modern feel to the club with the low lighting and new furniture. The food is always good quality as usual. It feels more like a restaurant now rather than just a club which is great. Also the food prices are reasonable around $25-$35 per dish.

O.Since the refurbishment of the dining area, everything looks nice, but it's much harder to find tables now as they're spread all over the building.
The Henry's area is incredibly noisy, probably due to the way they've tried to enclose it to hide the kids from the rest of the restaurant.
Outside of Henry's, it's not necessarily any better because they're constantly pumping music through the speakers just a little bit too loud.
Having more cashiers to order from is a great idea, but there's nowhere for people to line up so during dinner service there's just people standing everywhere which makes it hard to walk around.
All in all, everything looks nice and new, but it's a design fail for me. The food was fine but not outstanding, as reflected in my rating.

R. T.The Southern Cross club combines a large, popular bistro and sports bar with Tab, conference rooms and a play area. The meals are fine and there's a well stocked salad bar. Staff are friendly and there's a good selection of beers on tap. Two pool tables are also present and it's been a local haunt for quite some time now.

J. J.We stayed recently for a wedding in the family room. Positives: the beds were comfortable, the rooms clean, bathroom spacious and the kitchenette well stocked. Air conditioners were very effective and it was nice to walk into a cool room on a hot day. We ate at the bistro. Food was delicious. Staff at both reception, the bistro and the cleaners we saw in the hall were vey friendly and helpful. Appreciated the secure parking and free WiFi.
Room for improvement:The rooms are a bit dated, the remote controls missing backs and batteries, and the couch cushions were ripped at the zippers and held together with safety pins. The hotel was booked out and I had rung to confirm we were on the ground floor (or lower level) a couple of months ago because one of our travellers has mobility issues only to arrive to find they had put us on a top floor. Because they were full they couldn't move us. WiFi was slow and difficult to get onto because of the amount of traffic.
Aa decently priced accommodation in Canberra I would probably stay here again but only if traveling with no one with mobility issues.

V. L.One of the nice and big clubs around Canberra. They're currently under renovation at certain areas but still fully functional.
There's kids playground that is enternltayinjng/entertaining, although I would prefer it to have some free of charge options for Kids. It's not nice to have to pay $2 at every blinking light, and most of the options will last 30 seconds, 1 race lap, one round of hit-the-whatever-target... So if you try to get entertained for an hour it'll end up quite expensive...
Seems they are trying to form the future pokies addict... And doing a good job apparently....

Musical events (usually tribute and nostalgia bands) are often held here, and conference rooms are available for business meetings, annual general meetings, etc. Staff are numerous, friendly and attentive.

I've had to go to borh my grandparents wakes in the past three months at Canberra Southern Cross Club, Woden and the staff were lovely and helpful as well as understanding.
It was spotless on both occasions, food was lovely and our family and friends had complete privacy to celebrate and morn the lives of our lost loved ones.
I'd recommend Canberra Southern Cross Club to anyone for family functions and just a place to meet up with your friends for a nice quiet night out.

L. L.One of the best clubs in Canberra if not *the* best club, this is really a chain of clubs, accessible with a single membership, with other venues (besides the Woden location) including Tuggeranong and the Yacht Club in Yarralumla.
The Woden venue has an excellent, inexpensive, family-oriented bistro downstairs, with an adjacent childrens play area; as well as a full bar and small lounge area. There is a terrific Thai restaurant upstairs, as well as function rooms. There are two full-size billiards tables downstairs, one of the only places in Canberra to access these.
The club is also known for excellent live shows, often by surprisingly well-known bands and performers.
