Great Thai food in a great setting. The location is brilliant - right at the Kingston foreshore, inside and outside sitting areas - great opportunity to take a walk on the promenade along the lake before or after the meals (or both!) Good selection of southern Thai food, fresh ingredients and super-fast friendly service. We did not book in advance and popped in to see if we could get a table, and the waiter helped us find an available table for 1.5 hours until the next booking. Recommend signature dishes such as fish and seafood Tom Yam soup noodles. Coconut ice cream was a particular highlight - the scoops had a different texture which was a pleasant surprise.

Always good service, ambience and food. I nearly always have the roast duck curry but lamb cutlets are great too. My wife and daughter enjoy Pad Thai and Beef Pad Siew. It’s a little noisy for someone with hearing aids would be my only criticism but that can’t be helped.

The most authentic Thai restaurant I’ve been to since 4 years of being In Australia. They have not compromised their flavors- still spicy and flavorful and not too sweet... The boat noodle’s flavor was a little heavy for my tastebuds and the fried chicken slightly bland.. but the Tom yum was pretty good and so was the chili basil.. Staff were friendly and accommodating too. So well done, Coco Nine!

Amazing food. Recommend checking the specials menu. Tried a few entrees which were out of this world. There were two meals on that menu you need to order ahead for, so will do that next time.

I ordered pad Thai, the noodles were overcooked and there was no flavour in the chicken. The carrots were the best part and only redeemable factor about the dish. The only reason I am giving 3 stars instead of 1 is because I got pork neck on my previous visit and it was much more delightful, although the helping of salad could have been more to compliment the pork. Also, it takes the waitress 10 minutes to put a lime in a corona bottle, still choping the lime too big to fit in the bottle. Very ordinary experience

This is very authentic Thai food restaurant. I booked the weeks in advance and did the last minute reschedule on my trip. For the boat soup noodle, it is what I expect and more tasty than chai Thai in Sydney. I’m loving to try it again and all my accompanies were completely pleased with both food, service and stunning lake view there.

A good place either to hang out with your closest or just to enjoy by your own self. Evening in summer might be the perfect time to visit this place where you can feel the wind with beautiful view of the lake. All the staffs are friendly and the food was good. I ordered golden chicken for the entree and it taste good for me who didn’t like food with coconut as the ingredient. The Pad Thai was tasty though somehow the friend rice was a little bit too creamy for me. Overall, it is very nice place.

Location 10/10. Food 10/10. Service 10/10. If you are looking for a great Thai food experience this is one of the places to be. Reservations are not required but useful during busy times. Reasonably priced and satiating quantity. Flavours are excellent. Family loved it although they are not fans of Thai food. If I were nitpicking theb I would say the flavours need authenticity but heck who cares they taste absolutely delicious. Give it a try you will not regret it. They also have great lunch options. Street parkibg near by finding a slot nearby can be a task. Plan ahead and enjoy!!

Pretty tasty Thai food! Foreshore prices though. BYO which is good, $5 a bottle for corkage. Was surprised by the taste of the dishes, quite authentic, so would recommend over Chong go next door for sure if around Kingston. We enjoyed the Thai green curry, noodles, roti, eggplant tempura starter and rice paper rolls.

The family went to celebrate a birthday and man were we impressed! The entrees were tasty and they changed the number of items on each dish so that it was one per person. The mains were mouth watering, we had duck in orange, lamb shank massaman, squid and a laksa. It's a little more expensive than other Thai restaurants around Canberra, but it's not as busy and you get what you pay for! They have a great selection of wines but no other liquor. We'll be back soon! If you go, make sure you get the coconut rice, best we've ever had anywhere!!

Take it from a Thai native - the food here is delicious and more importantly, very close to being absolutely authentic. I love the selection of dishes with seasonal menus available all year round. They service is friendly, warm and helpful. I've been here only a few times (twice this week) and cannot recommend this place enough.

Highly recommend. My favorite Thai place in Canberra. Try the lamb shank... Very friendly and outgoing staff with great attitudes. Don't even bother going next door this is the place to go if you want delicious and tasty authentic Thai food!

Our choice of this restaurant was purely spontaneous. We are not disappointed. We received a warm welcome and all was done to accommodate our requests on seating. There was good wine choice and menu was extensive. The meals were delicious and well presented. The only negative comment was we felt that some of the menu prices were a bit high. To sum up - great service and delicious food. Would be happy to return.

We got a large order of takeaway (5 main dishes, 2 entrees, steamed rice). A few minor errors with some of the meals (egg noodles which were supposed to be rice noodles, no sauce provided for spring rolls and fish cakes). The spring rolls and fish cakes were really nice and very fresh. All of the main dishes were disappointing. Watery, not much flavour, overcooked veggies. Overall it was fine and inoffensive but not great. I'll choose a different Thai place next time.

Thai food reasonably priced, they explain the menu well and help you pair dishes if you ask for help. I had jungle curry with green peppercorns still attached to the vine decorating the dish. The service was prompt and they will pack up any leftovers to go home with you.

Step away from Commercial thai food in canberra into what feels like something authentic. Thanks to the emergence of a chain locally, it had become my acceptable benchmark, but we recently stumbled upon Coco nine during a walk and had their (saturday) lunchtime special. I found their service top notch (friendly and attentive) and their flavours well balanced. Unlike the very unfriendly service with some nearby thai places. Subsequently we ordered takeaway and found the same level of service and taste. I have made a firm decision to avoid the pretentious chains that increasingly feed me bland food and even blander service and will keep Coco Nine on my top 10 list. I would recommend their jungle chicken curry (warms you up on a cold winters night- careful it may be a bit too spicy for some), and give their lunchtime specials a spin, $12-15 doesn't seem much for a really yummy plateful (I had the seafood chilli basil).
