Such an exquisite fine dining experience. We opted for the seven course degustation menu and it did not disappoint. All dishes were beautifully presented and were absolutely mouth watering. Staff were very friendly and courteous. Highly recommend to anyone living or visiting Canberra!

Visiting Canberra we were highly recommended a meal at Courgette, which we are so glad to did! This hatted restaurant was sublime from the moment we entered. I visited with a friend in April 2021 for lunch and the food was outstanding, all three dishes were faultless. It was also great that it was uncrowded and quiet - obviously a very popular spot for business lunches. Only thing I would say is that most people seem to arrive early for lunch and you'll need to if you want to have the degustation menu.

Had an amazing dinner experience here. Went for the 7 course menu and myself and my partner were definitely full by the end of it. The food was delicious and the shiraz we picked from the menu was great, with the waiter continuously refilling our glasses from our bottle. The only comment I have is that we had to get three different pieces of cutlery changed because they were dirty (they're replaced with new sets each course so they must go through a lot!) Other than that, a memorable night for sure and a great restaurant to celebrate special occasions!

Food tasted good, but portions are too small. We had the valentines set menu, and for $125 per person I think you should at least leave satisfied and we were far from it. We felt like staff were a bit lost, bringing wine (we did the pairing) after we got the course. Not much interaction or explanation from staff as well, just putting food or drinks down and going away. Credit where it's due, the ambience was fantastic as well as noise levels.

My partner and I tried the 7 course 125pp degustation and were really underwhelmed by the lamb dish in particular - it was extremely tough and chewy. The service was really good but the atmosphere fell flat (no music in the venue?). Overall my experience at courgette was disappointing and I wouldn’t recommend.

A fantastic experience the moment you walk in the restaurant. The wait staff were very attentive and very welcoming. They were always looking to ensure your glass was full the whole evening. The ambiance of the restaurant was very personable. The food was the star of the evening. The portions were just right leaving you feeling very satisfied for the evening. The food melted in your mouth. Courgette is definitely was of Canberra's premier restaurants. My only small criticism is the entrance is not disabled friendly, but the staff were on hand to get you into the entrance, which made you feel very welcoming.

Might not be enough (when you see the portion) but I bet your tummy would be full by the end. Recommend the restaurant to include at least a single drinks. Wow, what a beautiful restaurant. I requested flavours at the bar and the tender created cocktails to suit - these were amazing. The food was nice, although dessert was unfortunately overtaken by the strong taste of ricotta. Not my favourite fine dining in terms of food, but would return just for the service and cocktails.

Let's start with WOW. Always a great dining experience. Excellent cuisine, super comfy chairs, polite and attentive staff. We always feel as if we were the only people there and that they are taking care of just us. On our last visit we were quite early, 30-40 mins before they opened, we just sat outside chatting. One of the staff came out to check if we had reservations. Upon finding out that we did they ushered us inside and started our evening earlier. It was fantastic and a great way to celebrate my wife's graduation. If I could negatively critique anything it would be that there were so many wines to choose from, however is that truly a bad thing? :)

At the outset let me say that courgette has been our favourite restaurant in Canberra for my wife and I since we first visited it in 2013. I am now reassessing my attitude towards this restaurant following our experience last night (22 Dec 2021); my wife and I celebrated our anniversary. Unfortunately on arrival we were informed that the menu for the night was degustation. There was no other option. We were seated at 7PM and didn’t leave until 10.15PM. On average each of the degustation plates ( seven of them and coffee) were served every 25 -30 mins. When I raised the speed of service with one of the very capable and friendly table staff mid way through the evening, I was told that the restaurant had a shortage of cooks. I was not informed of this when I made the booking six weeks beforehand. Unfortunately the slow service spoiled our evening and gave us the impression that the restaurant was struggling to meet demand. On a positive note the plates were delicious. K.Taylor ACT

Amazing food and wonderfully attentive staff. We began with a lovely smoked butter with porcini mushrooms to go with our fresh bread rolls. Our entrees of prawns and croquettes set the tone for the tender beef as our main, all served with tasty accompaniments. We both picked the same dessert of a delicious "smashed" apple pie. Great wine selection available, left lunch feeling very satisfied. Will definitely return.

We really needed a relaxing night out and we were so glad we ended up Courgette. I called two other restaurants while we were sitting in the car in our driveway. One, I couldn’t get through to, and the other could only offer a table at their next sitting at 8:30pm, which was too late for us because we were tired and hungry. Courgette was extremely accommodating to book us in between sittings when I declined their next sitting. (I didn’t ask them to. They offered to have a table ready for us on arrival in 20 mins.) We made very minimal effort with our appearance but we didn’t care and neither did anyone else. The kitchen was was so good when I asked if one of the degustation meats could be replaced. I would’ve happily foregone the dish if the response was no but this was no trouble at all. Our waiter was amazing. His manners and customer service were second to none and I wish I’d asked his name at the time. He looked after us from beginning to end. After being there for about 1.5 hours, we explained to him that our gogo juice was running very low and we’d have to head home soon (we’re in our forties), he offered to ask the kitchen to speed up our dishes. Again, the kitchen and wait staff were so accommodating, bringing them out in record time one after the other. The food was outstanding and we had such a relaxing environment with a little garden view next to us. It was also all the other little things that made this minimal effort outing exactly what we needed. Thank you, Courgette!!

My partner and I wanted a fine dinning restaurant that was well priced but also provided great food and great atmosphere. When you walk into Courgette, you instantly think wow this is going to be expensive. But it is certainly not the case. The menu is a set 4 course menu with the option of a 5th course, which I assure you do not need. Firstly our waitresse was amazing, we instantly felt a connection with her and she was also happy to have a chat with us. Once we had ordered the drinks and our choice of each course, the drinks came out quick and our first course came out. Now can I just say the presentation is first class and the taste OH MY GOD. The entree was represented on a timber plate which we found out was made by the head chefs father. After the first course the second course came out fairly quickly and that was to die for. Then the 3rd course there was a good amount of time between it and the 2nd course. The main course was absolutely divine. Then a short delay again and dessert came out and it was sweet and decedent. We were never rushed to finish our food or feel not wanted. Such a truly great fine dining experience and will recommend Courgette to anyone of our friends or family. Thank you for such an amazing experience.

An elegant hatted restaurant on what seemed like a quieter part of the city. We went for lunch to celebrate a Birthday and had 3 courses. The vegetarian entree of deep fried courgette flowers was unbelievably crispy with the tastiest baby courgettes that barely needed the fresh herby pesto and carroty gel enhancement. The beef main was tender, juicy, and left my partner wishing we could buy the sauce and take it home bottled. We both had the lemon myrtle donuts for dessert which were kept light and fresh with strawberry icecream and honey yoghurt. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and made a special Birthday addition to our dessert. Everything was delicious and perfectly seasoned. Would definitely recommend.

The food was absolutely fantastic. The service we received were unfortunately a stark contrast to the food. Understandably, our booking was on the late side and tables were being cleared. Nevertheless, some acknowledgement would've been nice. There weren't any acknowledgement until the 3/4th staff member going past. A hidden gem in Canberra. Walking past outside you would never guess How beautiful the interior of this resturant is. Friendly service and perfectly matched wines with each dish. Presentation was on point and adding different things from the plate together produced a whole new experience. First time personally trying venison and the way it was prepared has catapulted it to the top of my favorite meats list. Would highly recommend this resturant for an intimate dinner as the atmosphere is very chilled and personal. The serving staff don't linger or interrupt and are able to pick up when you need them before you have to try get someone's attention.

Tonight was our daughter’s 21st birthday and Courgette ensured she had a fantastic meal for a life long memory. She is celiac but the chef and owner ensured that every dish was safe for her and it was amazing. I can highly recommend their attention to detail and their service standards. We have been here several times and every time we come away feeling special. The food is probably the best in Canberra and the service definitely is. I can not recommend this restaurant any more highly. All four courses were a perfect balance of flavours and a visual feast too. So if you want a wonderful dining experience go to Courgette- but make sure you book as those that know dine there.

Had the set menu here and food was just okay. The butter was the best! But my boyfriend had the vegan set menu and the staff kept on fighting about what ‘vegan’ was and they said we had not booked vegan, but I had confirmed beforehand on the phone that we needed one set menu vegan. Once again, Courgette provided us with a wonderful experience. With parking next door, efficient welcome, and delightfully helpful Seb to take our coats, our evening was off to an excellent start. Table water and warm rolls arrived promptly, along with menus. We chose the $95 menu of four courses. Fish, meat and vegetarian options are available in each of the savoury courses. My sword fish was perfect, all the other courses were very good indeed. I was a little disappointed in the courgette flowers, but my friend was not. There is a good wine list, cocktails and mocktails, and water is replenished regularly. With its attention to space between the tables, hand sanitizer at the door and on the table, Courgette deserves accolades for Covid safety, lovely staff and a great menu.

Courgette is always a good bet for a fine dining special occasion when you are after a variety of different dishes and foods with a mixture of styles and flavours. The set meals and degustation menus rarely miss. This occasion was a rare near-miss with some of the dishes not properly hitting their targets, the sauces a little lackluster at times and the service staff friendly but sometimes a little off their game. Having said that they made a special table available for us outside when I called, despite being fully booked, and quickly ushered us inside once a table became free. Based on tonight's menu and experience this should be a 4 star food and service review, but the friendliness of staff makes up for small errors and general consistency of excellent food and service over a number of visits means they deserve a 5, and I'll be back.

The wines accompanying the degustation menu were very well chosen, with some real "stand-outs", and very reasonably priced. Sitting by the window next to the beautiful enclosed garden was a bonus. Staff, who can make or break an occasion, were attentive and friendly without being intrusive which all added to one of those "perfect nights out".

Surly staff (one of whom had body odour - quite revolting and unexpected from on of Canberra's top restaurants), drinks that we had to request, not offered and then took far too long to arrive, then they rushed our 7 course dinner. Courgette is one of the best restaurants in Canberra and the mandatory four course dinner menu is very good value (compared to Sydney or Melbourne). The dishes are interesting and high quality but not particularly special or memorable....this is almost fine dining "comfort food". The main problem with Courgette is the wine list, which is only a couple of pages and entirely pedestrian. If you consider wine to be an important part of a good meal then I would strongly suggest you inspect the wine list before booking.

I've enjoyed two of my three visits very much, once was a bit disappointing with a range of odd gaps in service and an incorrect dish, but generally i think Courgette is decent value for delicious food and a wonderful atmosphere. The setting is cosy, intimate and quiet so you can hear your own conversation, but with plenty of space between tables so you don't feel overheard. They cater beautifully for a gluten free eater - there has been at least two gluten free options in each course and they always have something delicious to replace the bread. I never feel like i'm a nuisance or missing out there. Looking forward to my next visit!

She must have been trained at the Araluen pub because she did her best to throw every single bottle into the bin from a great height. Carried on for 5 mins on 2 occasions during the sitting. The bar is centrally located in the venue so the sound is ear piercing. Not what one would expect from a "fine" restaurant where the sitting run at about $160.00-$200.00 per head.

The staff should be proud of the restaurant's One Hat rating. This and their other restaurant (Waters Edge) are without a doubt in my mind, the best two in Canberra.

Hi, We have been to Courgette a couple of times. Last week we went to Sage on Friday and then Courgette on Saturday (due to out of town guests). Wow, what a difference in the service. The service at Courgette was impersonal and ineffective. At no point did the servers even ask if we enjoyed the meal. In comparison the service at Sage was just brilliant. They were personable, fun, engaging and described the meals when served. These are both well respected restaurants but the difference was staggering when it came to the service level. As for the food, Courgette was good but again, compared to Sage, it fell short. Sage had their five course test menu but in fact, they provided about 8-9 dishes in total and they were all great. I can't say we will be going back to Courgette but will definitely be going back to Sage.

I have enjoyed food at Bepps, Buon Ricordo, Icce Bergs Dining, Ottos, China Doll etc etc in Sydney but never had such a meal as this. Salmon curry dish is the single best meal I have ever eaten, period! Service was perfect, including being greeted and waited on by the owner/chef, lighting perfectly dim, chairs large and comfy, music at the perfect level to have a conversation but provide ambient background noise. A fantastic dining experience at this modern Australian cuisine restaurant. Lovely ambience, fantastic service and located right in the heart of Canberra CBD make it the ideal spot for a special night out or just a night of pure indulgence.

Pleasantly dim atmospheric lighting ensures your date remains as imagined in your wine-induced haze. Tasty, well thought-out food that in turn makes you think. Thoroughly enjoyable flavoural and textural combinations with beautiful plating, which one feels obliged yet at the same time guilty of photographing for not being able to do it justice. The meat dishes, especially the venison, were exceptionally well cooked and well-rested. The goat's cheese cloud was done with restraint and subtlety, showing that it really doesn't have to taste like armpit-flavoured bladder. Front of house staffed by a bunch of champions so service was excellent. Unfortunately some of the piped sauce dots were dry and thus stuck to the plate, wasn't a fan of the small canned pineapple chunks as the sweet element on one dish as it tasted of metal, also two prawns in one dish was a bit over and had shriveled to the size of a kidney bean. Nevertheless, price works out to be exceptionally good value for food which evidently shows that the chef cares.

I tend to only write reviews when I’ve had a terrible or phenomenal experience at a restaurant. This case was undoubtedly the latter. Modern sleek vibrance with elegant furnishings, very East meets West. The lighting was perfect, anonymously dark but not overly so. The degustation was filling, superb quality and artfully presented, in New York Matinee style. Pricing was moderate, perhaps two dashes pricy on alcohol but not too the point of irritation. Strongly recommended. Editors notes: demand to be seated in one of the 2-seaters immediately overlooking the upraised synthetic garden. Request to not be placed directly under one of the flood lights. Sit no later than 6:30pm to enjoy the sun pouring on to the table. Have a drink or two beforehand, so only a refresher is needed on the second course.
