The food and service at Ily are phenomenal. I cannot recommend it more highly - eat here as soon and as often as you can! We’ve been twice in the last couple of months, once for the al a carte and once for the special Christmas menu. Looking at the menu, lots of dishes appealed to us but the descriptions didn’t prepare us for the magical journey the food would take us on - the food is simply delicious and invokes a sense of warm nostalgia, like going home and having the very best versions of your childhood favourites but with a slight and clever twist. The portions are generous, the ingredients clearly high quality and they’re cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. Some of our favourite dishes are the mushrooms, prawns, steak and chicken, as well as the pumpkin which simply has no right to be as good as it is! Oh and the Weiss bar - yum!! The staff are welcoming, friendly, attentive and knowledgable. We can’t wait to go back!

What superb food and care! There were ten in our group tonight and everyone was so impressed with the delicious food in the set menu. Also we had people who are gluten and dairy intolerant and they were so graciously looked after with alternatives only needed for two dishes and theses were not a disappointing second best. I thank the chef and staff for making this a very special evening. 🤓

Such a gorgeous dining experience!! We were greeted so warmly and every staff member we came into contact with was delightful. Coffee was fantastic and the rigatoni was absolutely perfect. The interior decor is well designed and has clear vision. We’ll be back for sure!!

Beautiful, airy restaurant with decent food. The coffee was great. My rilette dish was ok but nothing special. Best dish out of the bunch was the porridge since the fruits and nuts were delicious. They were extremely busy on the weekend for brunch so be sure to make a booking if you go! Even with a booking we waited around 15 mins.

Great spot, yummy food and cool fit out. We had steak frites and roast chicken. Both cooked to perfection. We finished the meal with a cheese platter and the waiter bought us another cracker with out asking. Great service 💕

Just ate the best lunch I have had in 2 years! Roast Chicken, spinach, confit garlic, with onion soubise jus. With a side of broccolini and roasted garlic chips. Simple, elegant, succulent, and the best flavour bomb ever! Finished with a sensational glass of 2018 Mayford Tempranillo. The love heart raspberry jelly palate cleanser to finish ties in perfectly with ILY’s theme of ‘I Love You’. If you want a delicious meal out ILY is a must! I do hope they bring back their breakfast menu soon, nothing else compares in Canberra.

Given the pedigree of the owners, ILY is as you would expect. The service is excellent and attentive and the food was top notched. We had a table of 5 for the Xmas menu and were left full and satisfied. Will definitely come back for the a la carte menu in the new year.

Just went here for dinner and the food is amazing. There's not much on the menu but each item we've ordered was simply made to perfection. If I were to hand pick pick three favourite; it'll be the Roast chicken, John dory and Weis Bar dessert.

I have been to ILY 3 times in the last 2 days and each time was a delight. The first visit I went with my partner for lunch and we shared two mains with each other, the roasted chicken and the John Dory. Chicken was juicy and soft. Even the recommended sides for the dish which was asparagus was amazing (it didn't have that sour asparagus after taste if you know what I mean). I mean this was asparagus!??! As for the John Dory, they fried it to perfection - crispy on the outside and still juicy on the inside. But the burnt scallion sauce was what really brought the dish together. My partner who doesn't normally like seafood thoroughly enjoyed this dish. My second visit was around 5:30pm when they were serving the snacks menu. I came back because I was going to see a movie at Palace Electric with my family so we wanted a nice stop to sit down, have a bite to eat and also a few drinks before we go into the cinema. The cured salmon was a beautiful sweet balance of flavours in comparison to the tangy pickles and savoury sliced meats of the charcuterie plate. If only the charcuterie was a bit bigger was the only complaint I had. On the third visit, I came to ILY looking for desserts to share with my girlfriends. We ordered the Catalan (creme brulee like), Wei's bar and chocolate mousse. And wowww, it impressed everyone! If you haven't been then I highly recommend coming to ILY!! If you can go in a group then it's even better because their menu is encouraged to be shared. The bigger your party the more you can order, the happier your taste buds and tummy will be. And if you don't have a group to go with, honestly just come for multiple visits like me, I have no shame at this point and ILY may or may not see me again in the next few days 😉

Gotta say we enjoyed our coffees, and service was polite and nice as usual, however, they were uncharacteristically slower in their kitchen this morning with our simple breakfast orders. The general consensus was that the cook added too much salt in everything, my stalk of broccoli had some charred dry bits and the two pieces of sourdough on each plate were sliced a lil too finely. I'll be back for their coffee and some items on their lunch menu. Presentation needs work.

Visited family over the weekend while staying in New Acton and found this hidden gem ILY. Had the breakfast gnocchi and the rillettes. Looking for a good coffee in Canberra and came across ILY just minutes from the Canberra Centre. Thought it was worth a visit as it was crowded on several occasions while going on my morning jog around New Acton . So very glad I stopped in. Coffee was so good, loved the detailed explanations on how they roasted their own beans and the service was fast and very happy and friendly. Went back as I had to try the food after seeing these incredibly plated food whisk by. The food was Amazing (with a capital A) - crispy sweet potato hash with whipped tofu cream cheese, perfectly boiled eggs, I was in heaven. Loved it so much, went back for days after to try everything I could. My best pick - a double flat white and a bacon and egg roll, can’t beat that char siu bacon! Delicious scrumptious breakfast, lunch and dinner for the foodies of the Canberra region, we are so lucky to have you!

(Review covers ILY/XO lockdown takeaway meals) The mark of good restaurants (and restauranteurs) is how well they adapt to changing conditions. XO has now done this twice, this time including its Acton sister, ILY, and offering a fixed $50 pp menu that gives diners a little of each. And it works very well, from ordering online, to quick, well organised collection from wonderfully friendly staff….to the last taste of chocolate mousse and honeycomb (like my mum used to make) for desert. The menu “travels well”; sexy squid is always a great starter; gnocchi with salsa rossa and gremolata is another XO Asian whimsy on an Italian base; the main — a Chettinad pork curry — rich with many layers of flavour, accompanied by a smoky raita, pickled achar and saffron raisin rice; and last, the sublime mousse. Paradoxically, I hope not to enjoy this too often, as my preference is to eat IN restaurants, but when needs must due to lockdown, ILY/XO’s ‘takeaway’ is highly recommended.
