I imagine this place will be packed for Valentine's Day! The interior is full of rustic charm, and their sharing menu is great value! Next time, I'll try their pizzas. This was my second visit and both times, the food has been consistent with generous serves. The gnocci was very soft, but I'm not a fan of pasta dishes in general. The taste of all meals is reasonable, not superwow.

We had an awesome meal here celebrating our wedding anniversary. My husband makes his own pesto and pasta so La Cantina was under quite some discerning scrutiny, but there were no disappointments. The burrata, squid ink spaghetti and duck confit ravioli were all delicious. Highly recommend this, with friendly service as well.

Outstanding authentic Italian Restaurant tucked away in Narrabundah. Please don't tell anyone about it. A varied menu with great specials to suit all appetites. BYO and licenced. Parking, during the day, can be a challenge, but this hidden destination restaurant is well worth checking out. Did I mention the squid ink pasta? It is our chosen monthly destination. So good.

Came here on a weeknight for dinner. The restaurant is nicely decorated and themed, with good service to match. The pizza was well made but nothing extraordinary for the price. The pastas were generally tasty and texture was really fluffy soft for the gnocchi. The other pasta dishes were a little bland. The panna cotta was a bit too soft like tofu but taste was good being not too sweet. The rhubarb jam was too sour and the crumble was abit too sweet and texture very grainy. Overall a nice restaurant and definitely one of the better ones in Canberra. The prices were ok.

We walked around for a while in canberra looking for a place to eat.. Was recommended la cantina by a friend in melbourne and decided to go. One look at the menu and we knew it was going to be great. Wonderful authentic menu with authentic traditional ingredients. Most of the food we eat in italian resturants these days has been heavily alterd and far from from the simplicity of Italian good food.we enjoyed everything and we could have fitted more in I would have.its a shame we don't have a place like this in melbourne I would get to it as often as I could. Not bad food, service was surprisingly mediocre. The whole meal (entree of anti pasta and breads and mains of pasta, pizza and a steak) was realistically a 45 min meal but ended up taking close to 2 hours. Waited almost 15 mins for service and then were promptly ignored after ordering..would have liked to order another beer and drinks but sadly it was not to be. This was touted to me as the best Italian food in Canberra, perhaps. Will try once more but compared to other places, a big catch up is required.

Family owned business that have an awesome chef who's trained with a really famous Italian chef - you can tell in everything you eat. The staff know their menus and the lady who owns it is so sweet. We dined here for dinner a few weeks ago. Place is nice and cosy. We were a group of four and decided to share our dishes which included a few entrees, few pizzas and some pasta dishes. All dishes were amazing, full of flavour and so fresh. We didn't get to try the dessert, as we were too full, maybe next time! Good value for money!

The food was great but we had a party of 11 and, even with pre-ordered meals, the service was slow. Meals came out in waves rather than all at once so some of our guests had finished their meals before others had even been served. Some of the meals were left on the servery for up to 10 minutes before being brought to the table. Desserts were the same as mains with some desserts being served well before others.

Right off the bat the most important thing I can say is the food was just amazing. Wonderful fresh exciting food bursting with flavour, a real joy to not only eat but to savour. Enjoyable cozy atmosphere and great service, I can guarantee you will not be disappointed if you choose to dine here. My only cautious advice would be for the kitchen to be more courageous in seasoning some their dishes (carpaccio, polenta), or placing salt on the table. Also try the anchovies, they are un-bloody-believable.

La Cantina is a really nice restaurant in the suburbs of Canberra, a few minutes driving from the city centre (civic). Designed to look like a wine cellar, hence the name Cantina, it has a very warm feeling and a great Italian menu at reasonable prices. The service is friendly and attentive and the food really good. My wife and I started off with the Antipasto, a very generous combo of prosciutto and spicy salami with buffalo bocconcini and a delightful focaccia with rosemary and sea salt, and it almost filled us up. We then had the squid ink ravioli and lobster fettuccine. The ravioli were really the highlight of a very good dinner. Recommended.
