Response to the other guide’s review, Jan 2022: Yes, we have also asked to take the spice out completely and it still came back spicy. Yes, we know Thai food is generally spicy but this isn’t our first rodeo and we know it wasn’t mild. The chef is ignoring the instruction. We still love Lemon Grass Thai and would come back for sure, it’s great food and service. Original review Nov 2021: Hey guys, I love coming here and it's great food. However, the last three times we have had takeaway / delivery, we have asked for 'not spicy / mild' in the order notes and it's come back super hot. Can you please speak to your chef? Thanks! :-)

Usually sees the owner when visiting this place for dinner and we have a chat when it isn't busy. I am always looked after. They had to hire a chef when I visited once. A very nice quiet place to dine in after work. Will visit again when in CBR. Tip: For take aways, if you want not too spicy, ask the chef to place the chilly spice on separate container and add them yourself to your liking. Thai food is normally spicy even if is said to be already mild.

Firstly an amazing atmosphere, an antique look to the restaurant. Service was top notch, very polite staff and respected all our food instructions. And most of all the food itself was amazing. One of the best thai food I’ve had. Would definitely recommend it to everyone and would definitely go back there.

An excellent meal. I was craving something light, with fresh vegetables and a well cooked protein. I walked around Canberra looking and nothing really grabbed me until I remembered Thai food is all of these things. The meal was excellent. The chicken was so scrumptious to pull apart and slowly devour. The salad was spicy and a little tangy, which complimented the chicken really well. Afterward the deep fried banana was really delicious and left me very satisfied. Very happy.

Lemon Grass is a traditional and classic restaurant, yet the food is very tasty and the best. I have tried almost all the foods. **You may try Pad Thai, Massaman, or Kanar Moo Krob. Price is affordable compares to other Thai restaurant.

We had the massaman beef and pork belly stir fry. The massaman beef was delicious and the beef was very tender however the pork belly dish was slightly too spicy for me - that may have been an oversight on my part as it does say stir fried with chilli jam on the menu. I did ask for it to be less spicy but potentially that message was not passed on. Reasonable price and I would go back to try something different.

Good quality Thai place in the lovely but slightly neglected Melbourne building. Family operated business ensures they take pride in the food and service. Generous servings, good drinks menu, nice chilled ambience, good stuff. A lot of Thai places are a bit hit and miss, this one is a hit!

The chef had all meals on point tonight, yum! Pepper Prawns, chicken chilli corn and cashews and pad cee noodles with beef. So good, will order again!

The food was good, with fairly quick service. However when the empty plates were given us before the meal, they were still wet and had marks on them. I noticed this happen also at two nearby tables, and the patrons just wiped the plates dry. The waiter lady seemed flustered and tried to greet new customers entering as well as running between tables to serve the meals. (Or respond to dirty plate queries!) Overall, the meals were good, drink selection OK, and ambience was OK for us.

Amazing food and amazing service. Unfortunately we ordered lemon grass off Menu Log and the food ended up spilling into the bad. However, the friendly staff redid the order and hand delivered it again in less than an hour. They didn’t just redo the spilt dish but the entire order which was above and beyond. Love your restaurant! Will definitely be back for more!

We were able to get a table for four without a reservation on a Saturday night at 6pm. Food was simple and moderately priced for a restaurant in the city, we ordered entrees and mains and all we well cooked with the exception of one pawn dish, where the prawns were a good size but overcooked and tough. Staff were friendly and we received our meals quite quickly and ate listening to 80s and 90s hits. Overall a nice place to dine.

Food is decent but the waitress was a bit snarky and unenthusiastic. I asked her what kinds of meat could be ordered with the Pad Cee Iew, she replied "Have you read the menu?" in what seemed like an annoyed tone. I dined with three others that evening, and one of my friends said "Thank you" to her in Thai as she brought water to our table. After the previous ordeal we questioned whether that was a sensible thing to do, because Thai people are usually much more hospitable than what we experienced.

Went there on Saturday night. It was not very crowded and the food was not too bad. I give four stars because I expected to taste authentic spicy Thai food but the curry that we had wasn't spicy. In fact to be fair, I haven't tasted an authentic spicy Thai food in Canberra. Most of the Thai restaurants here prefer to serve less spicy and sweeter food. Nonetheless the atmosphere at the restaurant is very nice.

I've worked with some high class chefs in the past and was pleasantly surprised at the authenticity of the food. The meals had fresh ingredients, bold flavours and picture perfect presentation. I'll definition be going back and have no hesitation in recommending this venue.

I'm visiting Canberra & this restaurant was the first in a google of "Thai." It was nice enough. Attentive staff, entree of spring rolls was nice. Mains was a chicken, pumpkin & carrot dish. I was expecting a little more than stringy chicken strips, and steamed pumpkin & carrots on the side. The sauce was nice though.
