I had a great dining experience in Lilo, the atmosphere there and staff service was really impressive. My friends and I ordered the feed Me Course. To be honest, everything from the taste of the food to the presentation was great, and the desserts at the end were delicious as well. I think Lilo Tang is one of the best Fine Dine restaurants in Canberra. Would be back again.

Lilotang has left the best impressions. The service we received was so amazing and we will definitely be back again. Atmosphere is chill and cool but the staff is also really friendly. I ate $80 Feed me course and food is pretty good, some Japanese classics and some twists, and for their prices it’s 100% worth it. (But It was a little bit big portions for me.) I used to live in Syd and I love fine dining restaurants. Honestly It was hard to find a restaurant which I feel satisfied in Canberra. I finally found what I've been looking for.

A very cozy Japanese restaurant in Australia’s Capital, Canberra. They do have good varieties of sakí, art work from menu cover to placemat is interesting, it will make you eat more. A good place to eat after work, giving as a Japan vibe.

Lovely atmosphere and food. Service was great, the meals came out at a good pace with breaks between the courses which was nice + we never had to flag anyone down to get another drink. My only gripe was that they have a section of the menu called 'bigger' which you'd think would be a more substantial share plate. We ordered the toothfish at $49 and it was two tiny pieces of fish. Pretty much the same size as what we ordered from their 'bites' section.
Overall it was delicious and we enjoyed ourselves.

Kilo tang was a fantastic experience. Great atmosphere and great vibe. Staff were attentive and super knowledgeable about the menu. We got the standard Feed Me menu which was super generous and really taste..
Definitely try this but if a la carte is your thing, the salmon is a must! Thanks for such a great night. Must try Canberra foodie experience

Had a very special birthday dinner here. Our entire meal was delicious. The lamb cutlets were incredible!! Cooked to perfection. We got the degustation and liked everything we picked.
J. D.
Beautiful space and concept but the food tasted average and came in underwhelming portions. The one standout good dish was the pork belly skewers, which were juicy and delicious. Staff were nice.
Comments on the remaining dishes:
- Oyster: average tasting sauce but fresh
- Aburi salmon: by far the most disappointing dish with four tiny slivers and an over salted sauce
- Kingfish: I was disappointed since I was expecting it to look/taste like Akiba’s. Not many fish pieces and average tasting sauce.
- Scallops: it doesn’t look too appetising but tastes surprisingly good. Small portion.
- Miso eggplant: ours was still quite solid/tough. The sauce was average.
- Chocolate fondant cake: disappointing since the cake was cooked through, no molten core. It tasted good though. My favourite of the three options.
- Black sesame pavlova: disappointing since it the pavlova part was super hard with no gooey parts. Tastes ok.
- Lime panna cotta: disappointing since the components didn’t taste good together (in my opinion). My least favourite.

I went with my partner sometime last year for dinner. We got the set menu for 2 with an additional duck breast sukiyaki. The food was divine. The scotch fillet and pork belly were stand out dishes. The our waiter gave us an additional dessert on top of the 2 that came with the set (as he noticed we were undecided on which two to get). Highly recommend the restaurant and will come again when in Canberra.

Great venue - very stylish & modern.
Service was friendly & attentive. Cocktails are delicious.
Food had great presentation & portion size but some dishes disappointed on taste.
The spicy edamame were delicious.
Kingfish with yuzo miso, did not have much taste - meh 😐 (the tufu crunch was interesting 👍) The batter on the vegetable tempura was not tempura batter but much heavier (like a batter that belongs on fish)
O. B.
Lilotang was a fantastic dining experience. Great atmosphere, exceptional service and the food was delicious. There is a semi-private area for group dining, which looks great for special occasions. I highly recommend Tiki Godzilla cocktail.

When you go to a Japanese restaurant you see Japanese staff, interiors, people and Japanese restaurant name, Lilotang does not have any of that. It is a trendy urban modern Japanese restaurant located at burbury hotel in Barton. They have a bar area at the front and the main dining at the back. Very nice deco, tables and chairs and even the toddler high chair is made of timber with soft padded backing and looks much better than those cheap ikea chairs you typically see. The menu is simple but attractive. I highly recommend choosing ‘feed me 7’ for $69 pp or ‘feed me 9’ for $85 pp. These are unbelievable cheap set menus with delicious food, you won’t find a deal like this in Sydney. You will walk out the door feeling satisfied and full. The service is highly professional coming back to top up water and collect our empty dishes frequently. Food is served very quickly, probably too quick if your going for set menu. I was a bit disappointed that we had to share the dessert, especially if the menu is charged pp you expect to get a dessert each even if the portion was small it would still be okay. Overall very happy with Lilotang, friendly staff, delicious food, great atmosphere, nice interiors and nice music.
Food ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Price ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

great atmosphere and drinks were great. food was nice but was expecting a touch more finesse with the pricing. it is still a well welcomed spot for after work catch ups

A FANTASTIC dining experience from start to finish. A combination of the delicious tasting menu designed by the chef and the exemplary service provided by Nicky made this night for myself and my partner an absolute stand out. If we lived in the Canberra area we would be back weekly. Do yourself a BIG favour and check this Japanese joint out. I can't talk it up enough.

My partner brought me here last night for my birthday. We were joined by two friends and all had the 7 course Feed Me menu. Firstly, the staff are just wonderful. To the kind waiter with the ponytail who served us complimentary sparkling sake, thank you. You set such a lovely tone for the night. The food was incredible, we all agreed that not a single dish disappointed, nor did the cocktails. The atmosphere of the restaurant was perfect for socialising and sharing good food. Thank you so much.
P. B.
Went here last night with my wife for the seafood tasting menu as part of their spectacular seafood month (or whatever it's called). All the dishes were amazing with the stand out being the tempura oyster with oyster ice cream, man this was amazing - definately give it a go. The staff were attentive and seemed interested in what we thought of the food. An all round great dining experience and for the price ($80 per head plus drinks) i think it was exeptional value. Will definitely be back again if I am in the area.
E. T.
We had their lunch specials and it was superb! Service is top notch and the ambience is really there. Their scotch fillet is a clear winner and is perfectly cooked. Definitely a must visit.
A. Y.
Forgot to take photos of the food.
We ordered:
- Wagyu beef tataki 5/5
- Aburi Salmon 3/5
- Kingfish w yuzu miso and tofu crunch 3/5
- Agedashi tofu 5/5
- Chicken karaage 5/5
Bigger:
- pork belly / toothfish 4/5
The food is creative and tasty but the portion are too small (reasonable small as a pop-fine dining) especially for the raw selection.
After finishing the meal, we was thinking to order more dishes or dessert. We raised hand to ask for help. A waitress was literally just standing there but she ignored us and turned around to serve another table immediately. We surely make the eye contact with her. That’s bit uncomfortable.
But other staffs are all very kind and friendly.
Worth to try again.

We (I, my husband and 5 friends) visited Lilotang last Saturday and I was a little bit concerned what the service and food would be like after the changeover and after reading recent reviews.
We ordered the "a bit more" 9 course menu.
The food was amazing (none of us eats or likes tofu so we gave that a miss) and came out almost too quick. The service was incredible! All staff were right on top, fully briefed, friendly and helpful.
We highly recommend Lilotang and can't wait for our next dining experience there.
V. M.
A very good restaurant with an interesting take on Japanese cousine, as the sushi and the sashimi were all not what you would expect ie not traditional style but nevertheless were really really good. We really enjoyed all of it and even our four year old daughter loved the food especially the chicken Yakitori and the sticky rice. The service was very good and the waiters were all very attentive. A must go in Canberra if you fancy some Asian flavours.
S. J. M.
My wife and I have been to Lilotang twice now. We are so impressed with the customer service. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. It is an absolute pleasure to deal with Amy and Ruby. The food is so delicious too! Guarantee you won't regret going here! This place is a must! 5 STARS!
J. Y. P.
Loved the $65 set- sushi, pork belly, and steak being our favourites. Dessert was meticulously done, and staff service was excellent. One of my top restaurant visits to date.
L. F.
Great food and the design of the establishment is excellent. For such a large open space with high ceilings you could easily hear your conversation across the table.
BUT the rate at which the dishes came out was much too fast. When I asked them to slow it down they took the last dish away and kept it warm which dried it out. When it came out again so did all the other dishes we ordered, so they must have been backing up.
It did spoil the experience
I booked the table about a month beforehand and it appeared that they were trying to rush us out.
C. M.
Had a really enjoyable experience here although my friend and I only came for dessert. The service was friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere of the restaurant was warm, cozy and intimate whilst at the same time sophisticated and modern. Would definitely return on my next visit to Canberra.
G. D.
100% not what I was expecting but enjoyed my meal nonetheless. The staff were friendly and efficient.
P. C.
Warm sake in the winter is indeed warming.
Whole squid, duck breast sukiyaki and Kubota skewers are very good.
P. M.
Had an amazing dinner here recently so tried the bento takeaway lunch box today. Very underwhelming portion size and content for $22. Meat was tasty (5 cubes) but rice was fishy and not sure when a sliver of ginger became seasonal vegetables. Look elsewhere for value lunch.
S. H.
Would rate 31/2 - 4. Food was quite nice. Seating wasn’t the most comfortable-tall stools with low backs. Portion size was alright (if you have a large appetite maybe have a snack before you go) We had a banquet between 7 (6 girls 1 guy) and while we were ‘satisfied’ we weren’t satiated. The bar for drinks is nice. We had a slight mixup with our booking - we’d booked for 8 and had only been catered for 7 (booked in person so not sure how the miscommunication occurred) and staff weren’t overly accommodating or happy to help out with the change in circumstance (we were happy to ‘squish’ in an extra at the table though[which we ended up with anyway]). Would go back, just not in a hurry - it’s a little on the costly side for what you get.
D. G.
Best place in Canberra for bar style bites and great service. We wanted to go full dining pleasure but booked out so we sat at the bar and tried the sumptuous bar food. Popcorn squid fantastic. Ok
L. S.
Good was amazing- so nice to find a place that serves free range chicken
p. S.
I didn't have anything to eat there, more's the pity; But the whiskey bar here is unbelievable. I found some of the best whiskeys I've ever had. My favourite; The Yamasaki 12 yr old single malt. Wow.
D. R.
I'm a little bit addicted to the menu here. I usually miss out on an inside table because I don't really plan ahead, but if you get one try the 'feed me' option (or whatever they call it). The fried tofu and the popcorn shrimp are just *chef's kiss*
R. S.
Meal was excellent! Staff very friendly
G. F.
I expected more. Everything I ate i could have cooked myself and probably better. I went with the managers recommendation of many small dishes wagyu beef bun, chicken skewers, wagyu rumo skewers and brocolini as a side. Nothing special. Probably should have tried one of the bigger meals instead. Overpriced for my liking but I guess it's a Canberra thing
B. S.
Attentive staff, fabulous menu, lovely decor. Don't listen to the reviews that say it's not good value. For the price the dishes are plentiful! The karaage chicken was to die for.
L. C.
Fantastic good! Fun cocktails. Great service.
L. N.
Having been there once many years ago, our experience hadn't been the most enjoyable but we had heard it had improved.
Oh my it sure has!
We couldn't decide on what to order, so we handed it over to our Waiter - NICKY.
By the end of our divine multiple dish tasting, our bellies were full, our palettes were dancing from the flavours & aftertaste of each dish & were were beyond satisfied with our experience from Nicky & other wait staff who made sure were were never left wanting for anything.
Be sure to visit & make sure you ask for the NICKY TASTING DISHES!!! :)
T. K.
Good food and a good range of beverages. Interior is very industrial with black spray painted ceilings and light fittings hanging down. Resembles an izakaya in Japan, at such it is highly overpriced. Chefs are mainly Korean with a few Japanese. Head chef is Korean. Make sure to book!
V. R.
What a treasure. I didn't know i liked Japanese food until i had this dining experience. We didn't have a reservation and they were fully booked but managed to squeeze us in at the bar where we enjoyed their wonderful service. This was more upmarket than we expected, a nice place for a special occasion. The food was exquisite
R. A.
Decoration and service is great👍 . However food taste is not what I expected for the price I payed. The concept of each meal is good but flavour really needs to improve.
C. L.
This is our second time here in a number of years and it did not disappoint. The food was enjoyable as we had remembered it and the service was outstanding. We had brought our 4 year old with us and ordered a separate meal from the entree section for him. We had missed the fact that the edamame was spicy but before our little one could dig in, the waiter asked if he could bring out another one without the spice. I have never encountered service like this before. This alone is the reason why we would come back.
A. W.
Fantastic dining experience. Was recommended by a friend and it didn't disappoint. Our waiter Elliott was very friendly and great at helping us have a great dinner (helpful sake suggestions etc.) The food was amazing. Would definitely come back next time in Canberra
P. C.
Excellent fusion Japanese food. We did not expect such high standard in Canberra. This place will be fully booked if open in Sydney. You can feel all dishes are made of heart. All the way from entrees to desserts. Even waiter services. Must come again next time.
M. W.
The service was ok. The Pork Belly was fantastic. All the other dishes weren't terrible but they also weren't amazing. The atmosphere was also middle of the road, it lacked a warm inviting feeling but it wasn't so bad that I wanted to leave immediately. Overall, as indicated by the 3 stars, it's not terrible but it's not a standout in my opinion.
D. W.
Outstanding food, attentive staff and wonderful sake...slow cooked pork belly must be a signature dish as most people around us ordered it...and it was simply one if the best I've ever had personally. Make sure you finish of your maybe with a fruity sake to was it down with. Can't wait to come back..thank you guys
M. B.
Incredible experience, such lovely staff that made us feel so welcome. Delicious, authentic Japanese food. Highly recommend!
A. B.
Best Japanese style food I've had in Canberra. Not expensive for the standard of food on offer. Service staff are excellent, discreet but attentive and knowledgeable about the food and drinks. Decor is fun and functional, but also comfortable and not obtrusive.
We had a fantastic night out.
T. H.
We had dinner at Lilotang tonight. It was absolutely delicious. The service was fantastic. We highly recommend it.
D. S.
Was visiting from Sydney and decided to dine here- best impromptu dining ever. The staff were so friendly, polite and courteous. Elegant atmosphere. High standard of service. Food was delicious- esp the snapper sashimi, cod and duck as well as the cauliflower dish. Savoury dessert was yum!
T. G.
5 of us went there to celebrate mother’s day dinner.
We ordered the Seafood Tasting set plus the extra Wagyu option - $85 + $10 pp.
We all think the food is hit & miss, unfortunately more misses than hit.
The first dish was the sashimi, we felt that the flavors are not united & quite average.
One of the sauce is a tad sour & not very flavorful - not very enjoyable to eat with the kingfish & snapper sashimi.
The assorted sushi was quite nice, but of course the portion are really small, about 3x3cm sized sushi & we get 1 type each person.
The grilled squid tastes good, the oyster tempura was okay, nothing out of ordinary.
The wagyu was okay too, the meat doesn’t look like a good wagyu grade & taste is okay.
The main dish of swordfish is nice, but the cream sauce is a bit too creamy for eating with rice.
The anchovy sauce cauliflower was quite nice.
Overall for the money we paid (about $100 each plus drinks), the experience wasn’t that great & we are actually a little disappointed for going there & spending nearly $500 a night for what we get.
We’re planning to take mom out again to another Japanese restaurant this week as she only enjoyed about 30% of the food, the rest are ordinary.
We understand that they’re trying to do modern Japanese food, but for being such an expensive restaurant they could at least make sure all the flavors blend in nicely & actually taste good with all the creativity.
R. S.
Superb food and service; degustation menu this evening
C. M.
The food was amazingly good. I have never been a fan of cauliflower, but I could easily have had three serves of it here. Service was highly attentive and food arrived exactly when we were ready for it. The meal was absolutely worth the price and we are already considering when we will come back.
D. M.
Delicious food, fantastic atmosphere and service, somewhat pricey.
The staff here go out of their way to ensure you have a pleasant evening, and the Japanese comics make for a fun walk decoration. If visiting with a group, strongly recommend the banquet.
M. B.
Great food, attentive and polite staff. A great bartender who is really happy to serve you.
E. Y.
My partner and I are frequent visitors to Raku and Iori in Civic. The price here at Lilotang was somewhat in between Raku and Iori. Portions were quite small compared to other similar restaurants. Partner and I both enjoyed the taste of the food, although he did mention that it did not fill him up, I felt alright as someone who doesn’t eat much for dinner. Loved the the atmosphere, as well as the service, and I must say the waiters are very good looking haha.
D. C.
My first and the last time I had a Japanese fusion was In Kobe Jones in Sydney. And I'm not a fan of Japanese fusion, as the mixture adds the extra unnecessary but not so special flavour to a usual refreshing Japanese cuisine.
But after trying LiloTang, I'm convinced that Japanese Fusion can be awesome.
Highly recommended you should go there for a date or a nice dinner as it has great atmosphere.
There's a lot of great dishes, but one of the dish I would always recommend is the oyster ice cream.
B. L.
I typically do not like bastardised Japanese food, but Lilotang has shown enough creativity and technique to get over that hurdle.
We opened our account with some complimentary edamame that was charred and well seasoned. Next came the char-grilled whole squid that was beautifully cooked, very tender with a nice citrus flavour. Then we had the chicken and pork belly skewers that were also quite nice but a bit salty.
The mains were the slow cooked pork belly and the houji tea duck breast sukiyaki. I loved the pork belly as it was melt-in-your-mouth with a slight crunchiness outside, the wasabi sauce really tied everything together. The duck dish tasted a bit experimental, as the tea flavour was quite strong and tasted a bit weird for my liking when combined with the sweetness of the sukiyaki broth. The tempura egg was beautiful though.
We also order a side of grilled cauliflower that was well balanced in flavour but felt that the anchovy garlic dressing can be a bit less thick so the dish would taste more crisp.
While the food displayed great technique and have a lot of flavour, some dishes can be better for the price they charge. Overall, it was still a wonderful experience!!
K. O.
My son and I stayed upstairs at the Burberry and had dinner here on 27/12/17. We were so happy with this meal - every dish was a taste epiphany, the service attentive, friendly, intuitive and respectful and the ambience buzzy but relaxed. A spectacular meal that alone made the trip from Sydney worthwhile. I will always eat here when in Canberra. Thanks for a memorable experience Lilotang x

Just finished the nost amazing dinner & the service was even better!! Our Waiter Tayson was more than happy to explain each dish to us, from each ingredients to a story about how the dish came together. Credit where credit is due. Highly recommended!! 😍😍😍#japanese #entree #portabello #mushroom #nashi #salad #ginko #yuzu #enjoyinglife #canberra #act #ms_4thofjuly
L. A.
Attentive friendly staff. Great food and cocktails. Prices are very reasonable and good size serves
N. F.
The food is amazing. Generous servings with well balanced flavours. Service goes above and beyond to meet the customers needs - before they even know they need something!
R.
Really enjoyed the food and service.
P. J.
Omg, the Scotch fillet with the miso sauce is out of this world and Zack is an absolutely great host. He calls me by name and knows what I like to drink and always recommends a lovely wine. I would recommend this awesome venue to any Canberran’s or interstate/ international travellers.
B. N.
Come here even if you’re just after a snack, as you simply have to eat the Kingfish sashimi. The service is great and not overbearing, all meals are quickly delivered but delicious and carefully prepared and it has a great vibe too. Whether you’re looking for a date location or just a great place for a nice meal, give Lilotang a go!
C. D.
Been here twice now. First time was pretty good, but the second time the food was outstanding. Sashimi was on point and the wagyu steak had some amazing flavours.
The service is pretty good as well, definitely a recommend.
J. L.
Delicious food that's a little different to typical Japanese cuisine. Great dishes to try include the tuna sashimi and avocado salad, miso cod and the shiitake mushroom and cauliflower side. Expect to pay $60+ for 2 courses and a drink. Great service.
S. A.
Many places call their food fusion but get it wrong.. Lilotang gets it right from presentaion..to taste.. to texture.
Service is accomodating.
If you have been to Sake in Sydney and enjoyed it.. This place beats it!
M. T.
We ordered the scotch fillet and air-dried whole fish - so yummy. Price is quite dear but taste is so good! Recommended!!
J. P.
Really tasty food. We had the kingfish sashimi (super fresh and flavored with yuzu and miso) then pork belly skewers, mushrooms, cabbage and miso cod. Really enjoyed it all, miso cod was a winner, but the others all a close second. Great and friendly service. Good casual vibe. Def will return when back in Canberra.
G. D.
Fantastic food in a chic industrial space. Great staff and an excellent selection of fine sake, wine and spirits.
