Authentic Sichuan food so be prepared for the spice and chilli!
The food here is beautiful and crisp. Quite a variety of choices and it’s popular among the mainlanders too. This place is also great for group bookings and you can hire out a little private room. But it might be hard for the kids to eat such spicy food.
The ambience and atmosphere adds to the authentic experience. Definitely a good place to come back to.

Excellent spicy Sichuan food, staff speaking manners can be improved with training, lovely decor and reasonable prices for most dishes, expect higher prices for seafood.
My family loved the salt & pepper soft shell crab, Sichuan intestines with asparagus lettuce, ma Po tofu. I personally found the intestine dish a bit too salty for my taste though the intestines and veggies were delicious otherwise.
There are non spicy dishes as well so if you have someone with a weaker stomach, get them the soupy or broth dishes.
The Chinese steamed and fried bread dipped in condensed milk was absolutely delicious. Great for young kids if they are fussy over other food.
The restaurant has a licensed bar.

I've never eaten dry hotpot.
So before order, i asked to staff to got recommend what kind of material was good.
But they could not recommend to me. Looks like she didn't know well about it.
Food taste was good. But staff need more knowlege about food that sell in the restaurant.

Authentic Sichuan food, delicious, large serve. Nice and friendly staff. Will go back again.

hit and miss for food. dan dan noodles lacked flavour, pancakes were oily but the eggplant and tofu were fantastic. service was lovely

We ordered four dishes from the menu and they were all so very delicious and served with good size of volume. Everything from water, tea, even the Chinese songs played in the background were just exceeding our expectations by so much!

We used to live in Mainland china and we miss Chinese foods. Recently our family spent for 4 days 3 nights in Canberra and every night we had our dinner there. The menu wide range give us opportunity to try different foods every single night and we were not disappointed. The dried chilly chicken and green bean are our favourite Sichuan dish of all time.

Excellent service. Yummy food. I ordered the fried tofu and eggplant, Dan Dan dry noodles and vegetarian spring rolls. Good portion size and price, too! Would recommend

The food here surprised me. Was expecting mid range type food, but was pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste. A bit on the expensive side for Chinese foot, but the quality was there.

Coming from a show there were 11 of us. No booking. Allowed us in, got us seated and once we had ordered food just kept coming and was really quick and nice. Would recommend.

delicious food, perfect spicy, good value for money !

Ordered a delivery of a number of dishes. On the downside, the pork buns that were delivered were really dumplings...but really, that's the worst thing about the meal! I also ordered the beef hot pot. Now, for the record, I'm an aussie, but Ilike spicy food, so this dish was perfect! ot enough for me but not too hot for my wife We also haad some dumpligs and the pepper prok which were also excellent. Highly recommend this place and when the worl is back to normal, will be there in person! Keep up the good work guys, your food is excellent!!!

Kung Pao Chicken is my new favourite here.
Staff are always so helpful and friendly. Needed a quick turnaround on my last visit and they delivered. Thank you.

Nice decor and a lot of interesting options. We ordered their special dry hotpot...food was pretty ok. It's not exactly a budget restaurant (most of the dishes are 25$+ ) but they charge 1.5 % on credit card and 50 cents for each box for packing left over food .

Used to come to this place when it was under different management last year. It has reopened under new management and wow- excellent food and even better service. Everything is better than I remember! Will return again and again.

Our first time at what we consider to be an authentic Sichuan restaurant. Service was timely and efficient.
We only had one spicy dish (Mouth watering chicken and tofu) but it was well done. Other dishes were tasty also and served very promptly, so those who can’t really do spicy can still participate.
Portion sizes are generous, and reasonably priced (four dishes for $60). Most tables, including ourselves were taking away left overs (we were two).
Credit card is accepted with surcharge (1.5%)
Overall: very recommended for your Mala hit.

Amazing food, and very authentic menu from the Sichuan region! We recently returned from a holiday in the Sichuan province, and the food here was a wonderful reminder of our trip! Great service, and well prepared as well. Good to book in advance as they can get quite busy on Friday and Saturday nights.

Red Chilli Sichuan Restaurant hilights the extravagant flavours of the traditional food from central China. The dishes are of high quality and standards from the business. The tripe soup is my favourite dish from the chain. There is a big variety to choose from. The interior is appellate and spacious.

Been here twice now. Chose this place for hot pot but ordered off the menu and was not disappointed. Food pretty tasty and reasonably priced. A week later went back and got the hotpot. Super peppery, full of flavour and really warming. Both times was very busy and almost full. Went earlyish (6pm) so imagine can get full. Well worth checking out if you crave asian style hot pots. Service is good without being great. Polite but could be more attentive.

Food is amazing! Really delicious. This is one of those restaurants where the majority of the customers are Chinese. My husband (white) ordered sweet and sour pork. He said, “that s the only thing I can eat”. LOL
T. T.
You know it is the best restaurant in Canberra. The spicy pot is a good choice if you can eat spicy food. Stir fried beef slices with sweet and sour source and stir fried pork in Peking source are amazing. I eat there at least once a week.
C. B.
Ask for house specialities, great spicy food. Just remember it's chilli

I came from the USA to Australia and never expected to be blown away by food. The menu is pretty intense... when they handed it to me it was the size of an encyclopedia. I studied it for at least 30 minutes before being able to make a decision. This particular dinner night was for my Birthday.
My boyfriend and I had several appetizers, a dry pot with tripe and mushrooms along with a boiled beef in hot and sour soup. The portions were huge and the food was incredible. The spice factor was breath taking... literally. We loved it...so much that we tried to go back and were turned away for not having a booking. So we booked for lunch another day. Since the portions were so massive we decided to split a big spicy pot of chilli and beef. Once again the meal was incredible and set us on fire. The fried rice was delish and not like typical American made fried rice. Everything tasted so fresh! The wontons in a hot chilli sauce were so good that I drank the sauce out of the bowl after eating the wontons.
When the dish has two chillis next to it expect to sweat and this is coming from two spicy food fanatics. Had we chosen the three chilli meal I probably would have drank water from the indoor fish pool. The spice and price of this restaurant are not for the faint at heart. You will sweat and you will sweat more when you see your bill but he food is worth every penny.
Service was ok. No one repeatedly checked on us. Which was actually kind of nice. No one seemed to be rushing us out of the restaurant like they do in the US. I was left alone to sweat and enjoy my meal however no one was really too worried about how we were or if we needed anything else either. Regardless of the lack of customer service skills.... This restaurant is my number one choice out of everything I sampled in Canberra. Don't go there expecting to be treated like royalty or for a fancy dining experience. You can walk in with jeans and a t-shirt on and no one will care. You CAN expect the food to be amazing.
I have read several reviews saying the food was terrible and I wonder if these people actually went to this restaurant because it doesn't seem possible. I have heard that the food is loaded with MSG. I find it strange because usually I break into hives from MSG and get flushed. This didn't occur either time. I cannot wait to return to this restaurant when I come back to Canberra in 2018. I could eat there every night.

Great hotpot option. Their chilli sauce is amazing.
G. B.
Great hotpot, but pretty pricey. The "medium" spicy hotpot is very spicy - I wouldn't go hotter unless you really like chilli. They do half and half spicy and not spicy if you feel like you're going to need a break from the heat. They also have a lot of (I'm assuming) authentic Sichuanese dishes that you won't find in any other "Chinese" restaurants around.
c.
If you're looking for a good spicy meal, this is the place to go. Their specialty dry hot pot is to die for - just pick the ingredients you want (ranging from $5-$9 a portion) and let them do the rest.
The blend of spices and herbs (and peppercorns if you request them) results in an amazing hot pot of meat and vegetables, perfect for a quick dinner with friends and family.
P. M.
The mapo tofu here is to die for! Super authentic, which is rare in Canberra. The pricing is excellent, and it has decent, comfortable seating. The only issue is that the menu is HUGE - choosing is tedious for someone who isn't an expert on every Sichuan dish ever!
S. H.
Best malaxiangguo (dry hotpot) can be found here! Anyone who haven't tried, Malaxiangguo is like spicy stir fry with the ingredients you want. You can also customise the spicy level and numbing level (with Sichuan pepper) when ordering.

Good food and service. We were celebrating a birthday so the staff gave us a private room. Very reasonably priced too.
K. A.
This is one of my partner and I's favourite restaurants.
The food is authentic and delicious and is always delivered to the table promptly.
The service is good and the décor is kitschy but the food is EVERYTHING.
This is one of the best restaurants in Canberra hands down.
V. M.
The renovated restaurant has too much bright light (typical of uncosy Chinese restaurants). My fried rice was rather dry. The previous chef cooked a better one. And $ 4 cheaper!
J. W.
Was a awesome dinner experience , great meal, very helpful staff and I highly recommend checking out this hidden gem
H. E.
Really good Sichuan food - I like the beef in chilli hot pot and the crispy chicken with Sichuan chilli pepper and chillies (can't remember the actual names, sorry!!) Can get super busy on a Friday night, so booking ahead is a good idea.
G. B.
Great food. Prices reasonable. Service is greatly lacking. Made a booking 3 days prior and when we arrived, we were given 1.5 hours as they had double booked. Never going back and will not recomend.
R. B.
The service was quick and polite, the food was amazing. The 2 chilli options were spot on for us, spicy while still being edible. Massive servings.
J. Y.
It is the best restaurant in Canberra. This restaurant provides excellent service and a lot of food for people to choose. My favourite food is spicy pot.
D. J.
Really good kungggg Paooo chickun. Like best in Canberra. U know Asian quisine is good WEN the place is filled with Asians. I'll go back there for sure, just to hab dat tasty chicken again. Actually just thinking about makes me food horny. Stuff it I'm going there now.
H. L.
THE most authentic sichuan restaurant in Canberra, hands down. When someone wants to have sichuan, we always bring them here. Just a bit high on the msg meter, but i guess that's te trade-off for having authentic sichuan food as it is a inseparable part of the locals
W. M.
Great place! Quality Sichuan - very much enjoyed:
- Braised Chicken with veggie (very good)
- Shrimp and Eggplant
- Bok choy and mushroom
Will not disappoint!
C. G.
Delicious and affordable dishes. Quick and friendly service.
D. J.
Had dinner there. Had to wait 10 mins to get a table since we didn't book earlier. the food was excellent and the service too. Good choice. Parked at the Canberra centre and walked about 6-7 mins.
S. B.
Best chinese we've had for a long time. Large servings and authentic flavors.
S. A.
Everything was good. Not great but still very enjoyable and tasty. Not enough chilli for a true Sichuan lover
U. K.
Great food and convenient location, but don’t expect a good service unless you are of south-east Asian origin.
D. S.

J. L.
Ok food
M. M.
Delicious and spicy!
C. L.
The lunch specials are ok if your'e simply wanting only the food and not expecting to be understood in English-- the lady serving on the lunch buffet doesn't understand English but managers keep her there anyway. Sichuan Chinese takeaway lunchboxes are $9.50 but that buffet runs out in 1 hour and is not replenishable
Don't go for dinner if you're on a tight budget, as main courses start at $18.00-- and that's even without rice.
Tasty food should be available to most people, not only those with lots of money to spend.
R. W.
