Food at Sage is great! Fresh, delicious and creative. They have excellent vegetarian alternatives too. The cocktails - especially the passionfruit mojito - were super tasty. We were outside on a cold rainy day and they had a pile of fluffy blankets for us.
J. L.
Went there for work Christmas dinner.
Attentive staff, amazing food and atmosphere.
Foods were special and enjoyed flavour that I wasn’t very accustomed to.
Super special
V. M.
Had the New Years Eve tasting menu and paired wines here … was excellent, staff were friendly helpful and attentive. Food was delicious and well executed - would highly recommend
C. M.
Great experience. Had the vegan degustation menu with matching wine, amazing food and great service. Thank you to Lucas for excellent service.
M. H.
We were lucky to get a reservation on the first night lockdown was lifted. A special degustation collab between Peter Harrington + Michael Harrington & James Viles celebrating regional flavours. Loved every morsel. We went with the wine pairing which only added to the experience. With cocktails it came to $249 a head but we figured we'd saved so much money on restaurants during lockdown we were simply making up for lost time. Prompt and friendly service, great atmosphere, great location within the Gorman Arts Centre, and a lovely old building.

I had my birthday dinner here with the degustation menu. As a gluten free vegan, I often struggle to get dietary catering most places, and often the food substitutes are dismal. But Sage was incredible! Every single dish was outstanding, full of flavour and elegantly displayed. Plus, every single one of the staff were phenomenal - so friendly, professional, and kind. Well done to everyone at Sage! You are doing incredible work!
A. T. C.
Amazing service with a great intro before each dish. The team were friendly and welcoming.
The food was fantastic.
The only detractor being the heater not working 100% on the night I was there, and the warmer inside was already in use for a function.
H. W.
Sage has incredible native Australian influenced food and the most welcoming atmosphere! We were fortunate to be served by Nino who made our lunch date so special. He was attentive and made the ambience at Sage friendly and warm.
The food, wine and cocktails were all sensational and we will 100% be back. Could not recommend this place enough if you are looking for places to dine in Canberra.

The experience at Sage was nothing short of being absolutely splendid and truly special. It was my wife's birthday and the waitstaff did their very best to make it a truly beautiful and unforgettable experience. Ella, Owen, Bethany and Ainslie were so engaging, ensuring to explain every dish that came our way and went out of their way to provide for our every need. The food was undoubtedly lip-smacking, albeit the portion size being rather small. The crocodile burger as a bar snack the trout were stand out dishes for us.
In short, it was a truly beautiful experience and will definitely consider coming back, more so for the fabulous waitstaff. Definitely coming here again

Our experience at Sage was nothing but SPECTACULAR!. Starting off with a lovely potato and kelp soup upon arrival which our wonderful waiter Maddyson referred to it as a covid friendly hug from sage. During lunch service they allow you to dine either on the five course, three course or two course menu. I choose the three course menu which sits at $90 per person. A thoughtful and delicious menu with generous servings perfect for a three course meal. We steered away from the wine pairing menu but next time it is a must!
Once again id just really love to thank the wonderful chefs who took the time to prepare, cook and even deliver the food to our table, and our beautiful waiter Maddyson for making our time so wonderful and enjoyable with prompt service, a bubbly personality and a great sense of humour.

This was our first visit to Sage and we were very impressed. We went for dinner and had the 5 course chef pick along with the paired cocktails for me and matched local wines for my boyfriend. The food was sensational and lived up to the reputation of trip advisors number 1 fine dining restaurant in Australia for 2020. My boyfriend doesn’t often comment too much on food but for him to say the food was really good as well is huge! The staff were very friendly, professional and attentive. Special mention to Maddy who was exceptional and took very good care of us. The only point I could make was to remove the butchers paper from the tables as it detracted from the fine dining experience. Other than that it was a wonderful experience and I can highly recommend especially for a date night. The mint garden outside is a beautiful setting for a cheeky drink or two. Definitely add sage to your to visit list, you won’t be disappointed.
M. D.
Great venue and ambience. Staff were very friendly and courteous and service is quite fast. I personally wasn't too happy about the food though. Didn't taste to my liking and the presentation wasn't the best.
D. A.
We thoroughly enjoyed the variety and innovative mix of five courses that exposed our taste buds to new blends. The sequence of flavours from each course was very well thought out. Yet the meal certainly matched the mantra 'no customer should leave hungry'.
The staff were incredibly personable and seemed to know exactly when to serve, striking a perfect balance of friendliness whilst offering space to enjoy the evening.
We give a shout out to all four serving staff but it is Owen we knew.
T. H.
Had the 6 course degustation on Saturday evening. We had the 6.30pm seating which started off well, the food was prompt and the service was excellent, especially from host Nino. However, as more and more tables arrived it became obvious the restaurant was understaffed and unfortunately this impacted the service and the food. We could see they were trying their best to keep up and our last few courses were not to the same standard (dessert was still delicious). It was Valentines weekend so perhaps they were overbooked and there may have been last minute staff cuts due to covid. It was just unfortunate because the potential was there if there was better management.
M. N.
My friends & I had a really lovely evening at Sage last night. We had the degustation & every dish was just exquisite. Customer service here is always on point - the team’s attention to detail is second to none. The wine list is also excellent, which again, the staff are across & are very knowledgeable on pairing with different dishes. Highly recommend - one of Canberra’s best!
T. H.
Sage provide a brilliant dining experience that can't be faulted. The location and interior are beautiful and a lot of work has been put in to make it a unique experience.
Our party got the 5 course degustation but they bring out dishes in-between the menu items which was a very welcome surprise. Every dish is beautifully prepared and all the flavours are masterfully put together.
When we went it took about 3 hours to finish the dining experience. Because of all the dishes in-between you hardly noticed but just something to be aware of.
D. H.
It's always an absolute pleasure to dine at Sage and bask in the afterglow of such a wonderful tucked away gem.
It's inviting and fancy without being pretentious.
Staff are friendly, down to earth and add to the cosy intimate vibe this restaurant brings.
If you get the chance to do the annual truffle degastation, I promise you will not be disappointed!
(photos are from 2 different experiences)

We had the 6-course menu and everything was beyond expectation, absolutely delicious. Nino was very friendly and helpful! Great staff. Great food. Definitely recommend.
D.
Mood lighting throughout the restaurant to keep it romantic and private. We had the set menu which came out really fast. The service was fantastic, the food was great and overall atmosphere was perfect.
J. K.
I consider Sage somewhere to go for special occasions. The restaurant has a magical outdoor setting at night that is great in the summer months as well as beautifully appointed indoor dining rooms perfect all year round. The staff are all attentive and friendly and provide detailed descriptions of each dish (not everyone appreciates this I have noted over the year). Food presentation is exquisite and every bite a delicious experience. On offer is a three course fixed price or five course dégustation menu. The servings are small but exquisitely presented with unexpected added little morsels interspersed throughout. Hearty eaters might be a little disappointed - lovers of fine dining won’t be.

You pay a bit more for everything in Canberra and this place is no exception. Recently tried their Big Dog menu takeover coming out of lockdown. For about $400 for a dinner for two, we went with the classic wine pairing to try out some local wines. The food itself was good and the staff were very polite. But that's not why you dine at places such as this and pay top dollar. Food was lacking refinement, looked like it was rushed through the kitchen door and certainly did not match the asking price. At the end of the day, it felt like any other restaurant and there was nothing special to remember the day after. Unfortunately cannot recommend without some serious improvement personally. Cheers..
E. S.
What a delight, the courses were well considered and the paired wines complemented every dish. The spring tasting menu is heavily seafood based, which worked for us, and the waitress was informative and added to the overall experience.
K. H.
We had a wonderful evening at Sage. My partner took me there for my birthday. At the end of the night, I was given a card signed by all the staff and chef. What a lovely touch!
The food was as you would expect - top notch and absolutely delicious. We even had a visit from the resident possum whom staff had to escort (nicely!) way from the beer garden.
Can't wait to visit again.
p.
Overpriced. The wine pairing was deff not worth $95 per person. Not a fan of menu steps ( mostly whites, then going into lamb and red, but finishing off with fish again). Will give it another chance in the future, but making sure to choose one of the amazing wine bottles they have in offer instead of pairing.
B. B.
My partner took me here to celebrate my birthday. We really enjoyed our 5 course meal, and the staff were nice to have brought me a little birthday dessert. I didn’t feel that comfortable though because the tables and seats were positioned too close together for fine dining.
J. Q.
Came here for the 5 course surprise scoring dinner.
Basically you sit down, confirm dietary requirements with the lovely staff (the main guy is handsome too, fyi 🤗😱) and then they ask you to provide scoring for each course, on the table paper, which is then collated at the end of the night and this will form the new season menu.
It adds a whole new layer of interaction and I must admit I was all for it. Makes you take a moment to pause and think about what you’re consuming and how it could be better, or changed etc. Really fun, definitely worth trying!
Highlights for me were the spanner crab and the chicken in the main dish category.
Come here if you’re coming to the Berra, our bill was very reasonable. Great wine list too.
R. T.
Sage dining rooms are an upmarket restaurant providing various courses that vary season to season. I have attended Sage dining Rooms twice now and have had a pleasant experience both times. More recently I went for the 10 course Truffle Degustation which was delicious. Food is cleverly served on a variety of unique plates and presented beautifully. I did have a minor comment from my waitress which was slightly degrading but unintential on her behalf, however still felt it was inappropriate for the dining establishment. Otherwise a very lovely place to visit when in Canberra!
B. M.
Myself and a few friends go to Sage at least once per year. Tonight was an 8 course dinner, wow. Who thinks up Maple Butter.. we had amazing service from every staff member but a big thanks to Jack, his first night there and he was doing an amazing job. Well done Sage Team you’ve done it again.
A. C.
This is our 2nd time at Sage (regret not coming here for Valentines) this year and we will definitely keep coming back.
We were lucky to try their new menu today and can say that it was as phenomenal as last season’s menu. The star of the night for me is photographed below - wild mushrooms, ricotta, roast chicken stock and sheet pasta! Can’t get enough of that umami flavour, can easily have 20 bowls!
Highly recommend to do the drink pairing. I did the cocktail pairing, the others did the local wine, global wine, and non- alcoholic pairing and no fault. The team are very clever and the craftsmanship is undeniable.
Lastly, the service is impressive. Professional and friendly vibe, and we felt we were truly taken care of. Shoutout to Maddy and the team tonight ☺️
Perfect for date night, special occasions, or if you just feel like treating yourself.

A lovely Saturday lunch - great location, food was delicious, especially dessert, and service very good. Will definitely book again.
C. M.
Sensational - probably one of the best restaurant in Canberra in terms of food and service. Do yourself a culinary favour eat here.
J. D.
An amazing dining experience, a must try when in Canberra. We had the 5 course degustation with each plate better than the one before. Pairing wines would be a suggested idea as the staff have expert knowledge of both local and abroad wines.
J. C.
We had an incredible 5 course meal at sage dining over this past weekend. It was really the perfect experience. The server Owen really went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable, creating a perfect atmosphere for those who are stuck at home with children and don’t get to attend fun evenings out often.
The food and drinks were incredible, the cocktail pairings were exquisite. We really couldn’t fault a perfect night
T. C.
We love the Sage experience; we go back at least twice a year. The menu is always evolving, so much so, that they even run a degustation with a scoring system for new menu items every year that is all about customer involvement. The quality of the produce is evident in every meal. The care and attention to detail can be seen on every plate. Sensational food, in very non pretentious surrounds, with a comfortably relaxed atmosphere and reasonable prices. A great combination.
J. L.
Went to Sage for my partners birthday, it was an awesome atmosphere with expertly executed fine dining and the greatest customer service around. Thankyou to Sage staff
G. A.
Had a great meal here! Our waiter Nino was very friendly and provided great service! Highly recommend!
L. T.
Love the food, presentation and flavours. Service is great and the ambience relaxed and vintage. The accompanying wines are delightful.
Z. Z.
It's a fantastic place for fine dining. They got friendly staff and creative recipes.

We celebrated our anniversary with sage. The team at sage and especially Tia made our night memorable and amazing.
The food was delicious, and the wine pairing was perfect. Tia made the whole night comfortable and special and we would recommend it to everyone.
M. M.
Sadly we had to wait an hour to be seated in the cold outside (the bar next door has closed down but the seats and tables remain),however this was compensated with a tray of free and delicious oysters and some bubbles. They more than made up for it with impeccable service and imaginative delicious food. Have been meaning to go forever and am so glad i finally took the time to enjoy this Canberra culinary icon
N. S.
This was my first time dining at Sage and easy to say I will be coming back soon. The food was amazing, each dish unique from the rest with perfect flavours that complimented each other. The drink pairings were extremely well thought out, with flavours that matched and were extremely well suited. The mixologist truly has a great palette to create each dish. The service was unlike no other. Owen was extremely friendly and well knowledgeable about the food. He had great banter and you would tell that he enjoyed what he did. All off the staff had amazing customer service and truly went above and beyond to make the dining experience amazing. Will certainly be back soon.
W. C.
The majority of dishes from the course meal were creative but they were too salty.
However our server, Owen, was excellent. He was very attentive and showed a very high level of engagement seldom observed at other fine dining venues.
S. S.
My wife and me enjoyed our late Valentine Day dinner yesterday, great food and friendly staff. Will be back there soon.
M. M.
Fantastic 5 course degustation dinner in an intimate setting. All the courses were well balanced and delicious.
Excellent attentive but unobtrusive service by Owen - the perfect balance of customer service.
The whole team was great, and the cocktails were tasty too!
Highly recommended.
C. B.
Astonishingly delicious! We had the 5 course set menu and all dishes were exquisite! The service was exceptional to match and made you feel right at home in a nice cozy atmosphere! I recommend requesting Ella as her service and personable character is one not to miss.
M. J.
An amazing 6-course degustation with a delicious combination of flavours.
A special shout-out to our waitress, Maddy, who was delightful company and made the evening even better!
A. B.
Sage Dining Rooms are a unique and must-do experience in Canberra. The ever changing degustation menu is inspired, beautiful and delicious. They cater to all dietary requirements, even if you forget to tell them in advance (😬), and match courses beautifully for vegetarian and non-vegetarian diners. My favourite was the mushroom agnolotti in shiitake broth and black pepper oil (🤤). Truffles were in season and showcased that week which make for a nice theme too. The wine list is small, but has a lot of variety. The ambiance and lighting is subdued (hence no good food photos), but the staff friendly and attentive.
K. T.
We had their seasonal tasting menu and they were delicious! The portion was decent sized, so we were definitely full by the time we finish.
G. F.
Went for the truffle 8 course experience with wine pairing and was not disappointed. The staff were friendly, professional and knowledgeable and the food was outstanding. The 12 month infused risotto was the highlight. Will be back for it next year!
M. C.
Truly an explosion for your taste buds a delight for the senses. Every dish had some new sensation to experience and to discuss with my dining companions.

Sage is my favourite Canberra restaurant, always amazing food and great relaxed, friendly service. We recently held our wedding at Sage - it was an amazing day that we will never forget. Huge thanks to the whole team at Sage for such wonderful food, great drinks, and excellent service on the day. The team went above and beyond to help make our day really special. A big thanks to Jaimie. Great attention to dealing with my dietary requirements. We can't wait to come back for our anniversaries and special occasions. Five stars aren't enough!!
i.
For fifteen years Sage was one of our favourite restaurants. We didn't go there a lot, but when we did it was good. Our last meal there I think is going to be our last. For that price every dish must be bang on - not three out of five.
Also, Sage staff should be more aware of the vibe of the diners at each table and apply discretion when they are about to serve each dish. A couple in continuous deep quiet conversation isn't as interested in the details of the dish as they are in each other. Some people go to restaurants for the intricacies of the food and they want all the details, some want to go out for a nice meal in each other's company.
C. L.
I can honestly say that coming to Sage was one of the best dining experiences of my life, especially as someone who is vegan!! The tasting menu was phenomenal. I attended with 2 others who aren't vegan and they were equally impressed with the quality of the food, unbeatable service and ambience. It was a delight to dine at Sage and I will definitely be back! Thank you so much xx
M. M.
Our waiter Matt, and the whole team, really took care of us when we visited for our anniversary recently. The food was excellent, the wine was great, and the service was top notch. We'll be back!
A. B. (.
$95 set menu, perfect combination of vegetables and seafood (I'm pescatarian)
B. N.
We were the only two diners at a weekday lunch & had an awesome time. Decided on the three course lunch with a glass of local rose. Such elegant presentation - amuse bouchee to awaken our taste buds before course 1, which was mushroom agnoletti. A palate cleanser of squid ink crisps followed by smoked duck breast, another little titillation (see photo) & we finished with a cheese platter. Couldn’t ask for better!
B. S.
I can only add to my current review. Our Dining experience here has always been nothing short of absolutely fabulous. Words cannot explain how well the staff takes car of you at Sage, my Partner Daniel and I would like to say a special thanks to Ainsly for making our experience just that extra special.
Well done Sage!
J. K.
My partner and I have been to Sage a few times and absolutely loved the dining experience. A big thank you to Beth for being so wonderful and so knowledgeable with the menu, ingredients and wine pairings. Highly recommended.
S. L.
Absolutely five star recommendation!! The food was fabulous, I loved every single course except the mushroom ravioli but it was alright too! Highly recommend the cocktail pairing too, each drink was unique and you can actually taste the alcohol in it (unlike some other places where they put tiny bit of alcohol in your drink), and the pricing is reasonable, last but not least the service was amazing, people are very welcoming and friendly!!
Would come again~
C. E.
Exquisite, Desirable and Delicious!
My wife and I celebrated her birthday by dining on the 5 course Chef's pick. We loved the food, loved the service and were amazed at the cocktail pairings with each dish.
The Tuna Tartare was amazing, highly encourage you try it.
Shout out to Maddy and the team for a great night and will definitely visit again.
M. G.
It takes big balls to serve something like potato scallops as a first course! But when you try these potato scallops you can see why. Simply stunning as was every subsequent course with each dish standing out in its own way.
The kitchen lays a very strong foundation here and is backed up by flawless and very fun floor staff. The two girls/ladies looking after us were knowledgeable and fun with not a hint of pretence. Can't remember the last time I had so much fun eating out. Really well done shame there isn't a six star option!
A. F.
On a chilly Friday evening, we headed out for our first Sage dining experience. It was chef's choice for a five-course degustation, which continued to surprise and delighte us. The standouts were the trout and bechamel jaffle, and the most intriguingly delicate and intricately flavoured dessert. Matching wines were lovely - range of local and international wineries. Tia our waitress was friendly and informative and looked after us very well - also with some great banter about wild mushroom foraging.
Highly recommend.
L. H.
Sage is fantastic. Food is imaginative, well presented and most importantly delicious. The degustation is brilliant as were the stories of the wait staff foraging for the sea greens and wild blackberries.
One note is that is you are doing the degustation buy wine by the glass as the matching wines as so small they are not even close to a half glass (they felt more like a wine tasting than a dinner) and the price tag that comes with 5 "shots" of wine doesn't work.
Food and service were fantastic as is the setting.
s. s. k.
Definite place to be if you want to relish some good talks and get pampered along the whole time you are there. The ambience is just the right blend of setting the mood and staff makes the experience all the more comfortable and relaxed. Oh did I not mention of food, thats simply awesome
S. G.
Hubby and I have been to Sage a few times over the years - the food and service is always great. The Valentine's day degustation was excellent and the staff exceptional. I would highly recommend going for a nice dinner, get the degustation and the matching wines. Some nice local wine pairings are regularly featured. The non-alcoholic drink pairings are also really good, even better than the wine.
J. T.
First visit and was quite impressed. Affordable degustation menu with wine, good service from friendly staff in a nice setting. Food was overall very tasty, especially the ocean trout jaffle and the wagu beef slow cooked ribs. The dessert was a bit of a let down though
C. C.
Recommended by a Melbourne friend, this restaurant is terrific. An easy walk in Civic and Brandon, it's located in the German Art centre.
We had a 5 course degastation that we wouldn't fault.
The staff are super friendly while being discrete.
We'll come here again.
R. M.
The degustation menu was possibly the best that we have had and certainly better than one we had in New York! Ella and Owen were great and they certainly knew their business. We will be back!
K. M.
Everything about this place was on point or better. When booking we failed to notify about one vegetarian for our degustation. None of it was a problem, every dish including the vegetarian was perfectly delivered and such incredible flavours and drinks pairing (wine, cocktail and mocktails) were thoughtfully provided to match.
Each staff member was thoughtfully attentive and genuine going out of their way to assist.
New Manager Ainsley was a superstar!
Wish we lived closer as we’d be back sooner
G. N.
We enjoyed our dining experience at Sage very much. The food and wine were all delicious the service impeccable. Will go back again when in Canberra and would recommend to anyone.
P. D.
Such delicious food that I'm still thinking about the barramundi. Just try Sage and enjoy the chef's recommendations
W. D.
A consistently good "Tasting Menu" with several exquisite dishes is what makes this restaurant one of the finest in Canberra.
The conversation and humour that was added by my main waitress Maddy is what makes this experience one of a few of the most unique and memorable dining experiences I've had.
N. B.
Really satisfied with the portions. I loved every course and couldn’t find a fault in any of the food. Honestly it isn’t cheap but walked away very satisfied. Also waitress was a bloody legend.
G. N.
Always love a visit to Sage, the food is delicious and it's a good spot to reminisce as it was our wedding venue! The degustation menu was cosy and perfectly wintery. We enjoyed every course - the crocodile katsu, pulled duck with jerusalem artichoke, and steaming fresh bread were memorable, and milk sorbet with honey was a refreshing dessert. Thanks Ella for looking after us.
T. H.
Food was fantastic and service was exceptional. We were served by Owen who was very attentive and informative. Highlights was the beef ribs and the truffle dishes. Highly recommended will be back whenever we are in town.
R. I.
Love sage. Particularly love the taste and test menu, experience even. Matched wines or cordials is recomended. Cozy, some might say romantic atmosphere. Very good service.
M. M.
I’m not sure how I’ve missed Sage until now, but I’m impressed by my first visit. All the staff were enthusiastic, friendly and well-informed. The degustation was delicious and well-balanced. The dining room itself is warm and welcoming as was Maddie our waitress.
S. T.
Had the degustation 5 course meal last night with paired local wines.
We had a wonderful evening - the food and wines were delicious and our two waitresses, Maddie and Shanice were delightful - both very knowledgeable and extremely helpful and friendly young ladies.
The restaurant is calm, and the decor is very cosy. We will come again.
S. T.
First experience at Sage, it was a lovely night. Our waitress (tia) was fantastic, really knowledgeable and friendly which I think adds to the experience.
The food was beautiful, the standout for us was the hassleback potato and the ocean trout.
E. D.
My boyfriend and I went to Sage for my birthday dinner this week. The food was exceptional and our waitress, Ella, was attentive and personable. The dining room had a great atmosphere and we were super happy with our experience.
A. A.
Excellent food and service. The tasting menu had a great variety of creative and delicious dishes. The staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely be coming back.
B. C.
It is always a pleasure to return to an old favourite and discover that not only has it not decreased in its quality but it has gotten even better. Sitting in the picturesque alfresco courtyard, the 5 course chef's selection was delicious, supported by excellent service, charming yet unobtrusive when was needed (Maddie in particular was a delight). Having taken a friend for her birthday, the little touches the staff took to make it a special evening for her were lovely and very appreciated.
The mushroom agnolotti in a shitake broth with nasturtium leave and pepper oil was an absolute triumph of a dish, richly savoury and beautifully light. Highly recommended!
A. R.
What an absolute treat. The atmosphere of the fairy lit courtyard combined with the vibrant professional staff was the perfect start to a perfect night.
Fancy potato scallops to start us off, ocean trout with the most perfected XO sauce, a Wagu beef that melted in your mouth.
The lovely staff completed the night. I’ve never been so impressed with someone’s knowledge of wines and the ability to create such an experience. The matching of flavours was bang on! Combined with perfect company it was the most enjoyable night and we will be back.
N. M.
What an amazing place! Dinner was delicious and the staff could not have been nicer. The perfect special night out. Grab a table before this place becomes the hottest ticket in town!
C. M. (. O.
Great dining experience! Definitely worth a try. Gluten, lactose and seafood free diets well catered for.
Most courses were absolutely delicious.
Nice an quiet, well not our party but other patrons and atmosphere.
Service was great for delivery and explanation of the dishes, but we had to ask repeatedly for water refills after the wine.
A. J.
All five courses were delish! And it was all timed nicely to let us digest. Bethany our waitress was lovely too, looked after us really well!
L. S.
Fantastic cuisine! Loved every dish.
A special thanks to Mama; her bubbly, radiant personality made the dining experience that much more enjoyable!

Went here for my partner’s birthday. Food was great but small portions but that’s what you get for fancy shamncy food in Canberra. Service was okay. Loved the touch of the free birthday lamington!
D. B.
Fabulous food, service and ambience. Wonderful exploration of flavours and textures. Pure joy every mouthful. One of our favorite dining experiences.
이.
Stunning lunch! I went to Sage with my wife this afternoon, food was an amazing, chef Cory did table service for us and Maddy recommend a beautiful wine it was absolutely extraordinary experience.
L.
I wish I could give stars for service - it was definitely 5 stars! The food was pretty ordinary and lacking flavor. I also didn't like the idea that I didn't have a choice at least out of 2 as for example I don't like apple desserts. So nice place but guys, please throw some flavor in your meals!
R. P.
Went here yesterday for dinner from 7:30-10:00pm and had an amazing time every second of the way. Staff were extremely nice and welcoming, and the food was great! Definitely will be returning back when there’s another special occasion. Thanks for making the time amazing :)
B. K.
Beautiful dinner last Saturday night..! Thanks to all staff.
J. J.
We had dinner for two to celebrate my birthday last night; degustation menu with matching wines. It was a sublime dining experience! The creativity of the flavour and textural combinations is extraordinary. I can’t comprehend how these dishes are even conceived let alone executed. Subtle combinations of seafood flavours with either fresh Asian herbs or tangy fruit sauces, a marvellous dish of seared kangaroo with a pomegranate sauce, a beautiful desert combination of small treats and none of them too sweet. The wine matching was perfect and introduced us to several new wineries and a couple of new varieties. And the service was very professional and attentive, with a friendliness and warmth that we enjoyed. They went the extra mile to make the birthday feel special. I can’t wait to go back there.
S. M.
The food was really interesting and delicious. Had a great table outside in the sun and the staff were friendly. Highly recommend making the trip
W.
My partner and I went to Sage last night for our anniversary. It was above and beyond anything I've had in Canberra before.
The service was professional yet friendly and playful, dishes were clearly explained and any dietary requirements were taken in stride without any issues.
The space itself is cosy, intimate and lit perfectly, with a beautiful adjoining garden and outdoor bar. Comfortable seating and perfect climate control make for a lovely dining experience.
The food was absolutely amazing, all five courses of the degustation were well thought out and perfectly executed. I would highly recommend Sage to all and will be coming back soon to see what else they have to offer.
M.
Friendly staff, great new menu and wel l times spacing between the 5 courses. A great experience. The only negative was the table were on had older metal chairs and was uncomfortable by the end of the evening.
S. C.
What a great secret! This place has amazing food, excellent service people and a venue that you just want to spend your time in. I went for a 5 course dinner tonight and it was well worth every penny. I have never been before but I'll definitely be back. Whether it's fine dining or just some casual drinks at the Mint bar, it's a fantastic place to spend an evening.
G. B.
A most enjoyable dining experience from the excellent food, to the comfortable dining room and engaging service. The chef's 5 course menu plus cheese was a great way to experience the kitchens skillfull creations.
S.
Booked a mid week diner and what a pleasant surprise. We had the 5 course degustation menu and to be honest the description on the menu did not do justice to the food. Flavour, presentation and serving sizes were outstanding. The staff were attentive and were well versed in the wines being paired and how they complemented the dishes. Well worth the visit
G. R.
Thanks to the wonderful staff for such a warm and special experience at Sage. Thank you especially to Maddie as well as for being so personable. The food was beautiful and was a lovely atmosphere. Will definitely return as soon as I can!
R. C.
We really enjoyed our evening - our waiter Owen was great!
K. H.
Food and service is amazing! Very affordable fine dining restaurant. Was completely stuffed after our five courses. The paired cocktails were well worth the extra cost, but probably could have been a bit more generous with the matched wine pours. Great meal though, I would definitely go back if in the area.
A. T.
Fantastic food and cocktail pairings, our host Owen was amazing and gave us great suggestions on what to order that was best suited to our tastes
N. T.
Sage is a great restaurant. Sat outside for 5 course lunch. Each course beautiful but beef cheeks exceptional. All the staff are so nice. It's an expensive lunch but worth it.
K. M.
A wonderful dining experience. Food was superb and the waiter made it a very special and memorable time. My wife and I were visiting Canberra and selected Sage for our wedding anniversary celebration meal. We had the degustation dinner and the food was superb, including the extra treats that came along. Congratulations to the chef. And special thanks to our waiter Daniel who explained the dishes and to both Daniel and the kitchen staff who presented us with a lovely card and a blessing to take with us to remember the occasion. Beautiful!
A. j.
We experienced the Test Menu at Sage last Friday. In a word, brilliant. The food was great, instead of the 5 courses, they actually provided about 8 courses. All were delicious and very well presented. Now for the Service. It was fantastic. They were fun, hospitable, engaging and had a good understanding of what was being served. I think our main server was Mim and she did superb. This was a great experience. Keep it up guys!
C. R.
Super impressed with the vegetarian tasting menu with the non alcoholic drinks pairing and the wonderful service from Bethany and the team. We will definitely be back.
S. G.
Very expensive but you get a lot food in the degustation menu, and it's delicious. Got the matched wines which were nice but I wouldn't match again, better value getting a bottle or two.
Staff were great.
Gave us a free dessert which had wording that commemorated our anniversary which we were celebrating.
Will definitely be back.
D. C.
Sage restaurant is fantastic, seasonal menu that changes every couple of months. We had the degustation 5 course meal which also came with extra dishes along the way. The quality of the dishes and the flavours all brought together by a masterful team in the kitchen is top notch, hats off to the chef and their team. The service staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and very accommodating, asking about any allergies or dietary requirements. 10/10
J. H.
Great dining experience! Didn't enjoy one dish from the 5 course meal and expected more fish variety for my pescatarian son.
All in all, it was a great evening.
B. M.
Came here for my mother's birthday at the end of December. Or party of 6 had the 5 course degustation
We had some people with dietary requirements which were willingly accommodated with alternate dishes just as wonderful as the standard offerings.
They asked about the occasion and surprised my mother with a cake and a card signed by all the staff wishing her a happy birthday.
Friendly, accommodating staff, amazing food, great service. Will definitely return.
P. D.
We celebrated my wife's birthday here, a wonderful time was had by all. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Highly recommended!
M. N.
We got a gift certificate 5 years ago & LOVED this hidden gem, then decided for a birthday dinner tonight we’d go back & it was outstanding!
The old style, simple but classy & personal atmosphere & service, staff who obviously enjoy their job (& who work as a team!), incredible quality dishes & wines.
Make sure you walk around the inside courtyards and front before your meal or between courses to soak up the tranquil building and area (it’s an oasis!).
We needed a few modifications due to one of recovering from something, Maddy & Diana & all the team were brilliant!
Thanks and well done Sage team! We will be back! (& will be bringing our closest friends, family & just for us!).
ps. few restaurants these days will notice and help with the small things, Sage is A+ Gold!! 😀
Well done team!
Matt and birthday boy Daniel

Staff are knowledgable and accomodating. We did the wine pairing degustation and over all enjoyed the food and tastings. The first few meals were lovely, it was the dessert that let it down in the end.
This is not the place to go if your looking for a big feed, it’s more of a food journey of flavours.

Dined at Sage for a special romantic occasion with my partner. We had booked in advance and were shown to our seats promptly. The dining area for couples was atmospherically lit and appropriate for the occassion. However, we were not approached by staff for 10 mins, and had to wave soneone over to request the menu. She explained there was no menu as we were going to get 4-5 of the chef's selection of dishes. She asked for dietary requirements, but left rather quickly and we were left there unsure if our order had been confirmed. Aside from this confusion, the food arrived in a relatively timely manner. It is to the credit of the staff that they were attentive to the fact that we were finishing our dishes quickly and adapted their timing accordingly. We ended up getting a total of 7 dishes of varying sizes, and the food (particularly the kangaroo) was tasty though the portions were small for the price point. On another note, the bathrooms were of a standard similar to that of public toilets. Overall, 3.5 stars out of five.
B. D. M.
Highly recommended restaurant for modern Australian cuisine. We went for dinner and got the three course menu, which was served with some extra entrees and in between small dishes, making it more than enough food for a dinner. The venue has a cozy and pleasant atmosphere, and the staff was fantastic!
M. M.
Went for dinner on a Saturday night, food was good. However, felt very rushed by the staff to the point where my half eaten bread was cleared from the table without consultation.
J. L.
My husband and I dined here on Friday night for our wedding anniversary. It was a set degustation menu. Wow the meal was unbelievable. We were asked to rate every course out of 10. We could not fault any dish. I have a severe allergy to seafood and they accommodated my request and made a special meal for me. Nothing was too much trouble. The wait staff were attentive and could not do enough for us. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a special night. The food was the best we have experienced for a long time. Thank You
L. S.
Had the most delightful first anniversary dinner with my partner. Midweek, reasonably busy. Waiter and staff perfect for us. Best vegetarian food I’ve had in Australia (vego of 35 years standing), partners beef was devinely rare for a med-rare man. Wine list extensive and well selected. Intend returning soon and would recommend to anyone who enjoys several small courses of creative delights followed by the sweetest of delicate puddings.
C. C.
Great restaurant with friendly and knowledgeable staff. The degustation menu with wine pairing is excellent. Surprisingly positive, the portions are of a good size, which is not common for degustation. Highly recommended!
D.
Truly an amazing dining experience, one of the best! Tucked away in the Canberra suburbs, an inventive menu that surprised and delivered every course. The flavours were divine!! Aynsley our wait staff engaged and entertained us through-out the evening, matching wines perfectly with the Degustation menu. We applaud the Chef for an inventive menu that exceeded expectations, a fabulous dining experience, we will be back!

Visited Sage while on a weekend trip to Canberra and was very impressed! The atmosphere was lovely and cosy, perfect romantic vibes for dinner. My partner and I had the 5 course degustation. Favourites were the Mooloolaba swordfish & the Squid fettuccine, absolutely delicious. Dinner at Sage was a highlight of our trip to the ACT, would highly recommend it!!
S. H.
Consistently great food and service, what more could you ask for?
C. R.
My boyfriend and I had dinner at Sage for our anniversary and it was fantastic. The food was delicious and inventive. The waitstaff were very down to earth, friendly and attentive. Thanks for making a special night even more special!
D. N.
The 'mystery' dinner courses all exceptional and the accompanying wines chosen for us were well-matched. The knowledgable staff added to our experience with their friendly nature and ability to answer any queries we had.
T. T.
Perfect from beginning to the end. The three course menu was fantastic, and the extras completed the menu. Everything was so tasty! The service was excellent, completing a perfect dining experience. Strongly recommend to everyone visiting Canberra.
C. J.
Degustation dinner at Sage Dining Rooms in Canberra presented a “wow factor” with every course. Matched wines were superb too. Restaurant manager Hannah and her team have a fine eye for detail, including flavour combinations that surprise and delight. Fabulous!
D. K.
Back to Sage last Friday night , thank you for a wonderful night of glorious food and wine . Every course was a work of art I love you guys
K. P.
Went here for a birthday dinner and organised a vegan degustation menu in advance. Each plate was crafted really thoughtfully, with perfectly complementary tastes and textures. Fresh, full-tasting, and exciting food. Beautiful presentation. Service was excellent. There's an outdoor area which I'm sure would be lovely in warmer weather. Good wine list.
J. J.
Great night getting our inner food critic happening by taste testing at Sage. Great meals with excellent service. We'll be back!
M. W.
Our waiter Owen made the night a delight! Truffle experience was amazing

I love Sage. It’s my favourite fine dining restaurant in Canberra.
It’s tucked away in a quiet part of Canberra but close to the city centre and is in a beautiful heritage building. The food is wonderful, the decor lovely and the service impeccable.
In summer there is a lovely courtyard bar (mint) where you can sit under the trees having a quiet cocktail.
S. M.
We’ve been coming to Sage for 5 years and after the tasting menu evening last night, this perfect restaurant remains our favourite choice for fine dining in the ACT.
The best front of house in any restaurant in the ACT. Mind blowing degustation menu and incredible talent in pairing the wines. We love coming here.
M. C.
I went there with my wife to be and the food was amazing with each dish carefully made. The service was amazing, from the time we arrived to the time we left we where treated with such great respect. This is the kind of place you go to when you want more than just good food but also a good experience. I am young sporty guy so I eat alot of food. So if you normally eat big servings don't expect that here. Its about excellent food, excellent service and an amazing experience, one which I won't forget :-).
L. R.
Best authentic Aussie taste. We went in for a birthday celebration. Food was great and staffs were even greater. They were so generous to give me a $50 voucher as a surprise gift.
L. M.
Outstanding service and excellent degustation menu. This was our first time trying Sage and we were blown away by the knowledgeable, professional and personable staff. The food was delicious and challenged the status quo. A big thank you to the Sage team, especially Mim for making our anniversary night special and memorable!
M. H.
Aynslie made the night; great wine choices for some beautiful food. We will be back! Thank you for a fabulous night!
L. J.
Excellent food, atmosphere and service. Owen took us through our food journey like a Sherpa.
R. B.
Good Food Month degustation menu, awesome!
K. M.
We had the 5 course degustation, and it was incredible. We have had a degustation elsewhere in Canberra, and a tablespoon of soup was one of the courses. This was NOT like that.
As well as 5 courses, we had warm bread and 3 amuse bouche/ palate cleansers.
Best meal of my life. Absolutely worth the money. Service was brilliant too.
K. 1.
Beautiful dining experience. Some confusion on what classes as a vegetarian but was managed smoothly and had a lovely experience.
S. M.
Amazing place, went for a quiet lunch and the tasting menu was worth every cent. Tia was a great host and the parmesan custard was awesome.
D. K. O.
A delightful journey in food.
The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about food and wine. The food was amazing, the atmosphere pleasant. The prices reasonable. Best of all, almost all dishes were gluten free. Loved it!
V. B.
A sure guarantee for an evening of pleasure, Sage is our Canberra's No. 1 restaurant. The hosts (special mention to Rachael) are charming friendly and attentive. The cuisine is pure mastery. 5 🌟 every time we visit. Thank you ♥️
J. W.
Beautiful and imaginative degustation menu. Impeccable service without being fussy or interrupting. Even though we had the early sitting we were not rushed and spent a relaxed few hours afterwards in the beer garden. A great night out!
J. M.
We had a birthday celebration here and it was fabulous! Hannah was wonderful to deal with in the lead up to the day, and then on the day, Hannah and all th staff were so amazingly helpful with everything! Setting up flowers and balloons and holding th cake etc. Just perfect! Thank you!!!! We will highly recommend. Food and drinks were also amazing, and dietary requirements met with ease. Honestly, a great night!!!
T. J.
Amazing service. All team members genuinely care about the special request. Beautiful and romantic place for couple especially on the special night. Foods are delicious. One of the most enjoyable dinner for me and my fiancee.
D. C.
Great venue...food was lovely...service amazing
M. P.
The food was really good and I would recommend this place to my friends, however we were left with a sour taste in our mouth after experiencing poor service from a waiter, named Brad.
We booked online through Dimmi as there was a half pricing "50% off food deal". Once we were seated I informed the waiter of this deal, and he said that it was not available for us, as it did not show up on their system. Despite showing him booking confirmation through Dimmi and via email his attitude towards the situation was poor. He essentially gave us the impression that we were lying and was unhappy when he was proved wrong.
His manager came out and sorted it out for us and we were able to enjoy our food under this offer. This would not have been a problem if it was handled in a more professional manner by the initial waiter.
If it wasn't for this issue, I would have given a 5 star review as the food was amazing.
L. H.
Thankyou team at Sage. You went above and beyond to make our dining experience memorable as my sister and I celebrated the memory of our parents who passed away on this day 39 years apart.. all the little touches made such a difference. Well done. Keep up the great work. Merry Christmas.
Best wishes Linda and Maree 🎄
A. H.
Great Food, Service and Atmosphere made a special night to celebrate with Family. Love the degustation menu. Wine list is amazing.

As always an awesome experience. Thoroughly enjoyed the taste and test menu. Shoutout to Beth for providing wonderful service!!
V. M.
We had the Sage tasting menu, it was amazing - and the girls who looked after us provided the best service experience in recent memory!!!
E. M. W.
I can see why it's consistently rated as one of Canberra’s best restaurants - they showcase quality local produce with beautiful presentation. Some of their flavour combinations are a bit more adventurous than you would expect, but they keep the menu fresh and exciting.
A. N.
Absolutely amazing food, we had the 10 course degustation menu. The service was exceptional, it was as if we were being served by friends. A "must do" when in Canberra.
J.
We didn’t dine at Sage, we went to the mint gardens for an engagement party, but the atmosphere was great, the bar staff were friendly and the drinks and food were good and pretty reasonable priced. Would definitely visit again.
A. L.
Had lunch at Sage today... it was absolutely divine... three courses but each course with an amuse bouch type of plate to tease the palate... food just exploding with flavours and techniques
One of the best lunches we have had recently
F. N.
Was very cheerful with our dining experience. The meals was timely, cooked beautifully and very filling. Ambiance was calming yet livley and The staff were so approachable and accomodating.
L. L.
Exceptional, creative modern Australian cuisine. One of the best value degustation experiences in Canberra, with interesting tastes and textures you will not have tried before. Attentive professional service and beautiful venue.
P. M.
Sage is a place that charges for 5 star quality but misses the finer details that justify that sort of price.
Whilst the food and service is decent there are a number of areas that it needs to work on:
- no bread was offered
- water glasses were often not filled
- main courses in a 5 course degustation were served luke warm.
- the hero dessert dish with consume pineapple achieved the same consistency of warm canned pineapple
- the male toilet door was broken and did not have any hook for a jacket so I had to place it on the sharp item disposal box
- seating was drafty and cold, comfortable only when wearing a jacket
- if the menu says the old fashioned will have a maraschino cherry you should serve it with a maraschino cherry
I cannot recommend this place as a fine dining experience, rather simply a mediocre fine dining experience.
E. K.
This restaurant is amazing. The staff are professional, friendly and knowledgeable and the food is such an incredible taste experience each time we go. The restaurant also isn't large, it's modern but cosy. I can't fault the dining experience here.
A. T.
Love this restaurant.
The food is always superb.
Staff are excellent. Professional, attentive and know the food. Somelier knows the wines and is informative.
Last visit was for a special degustation menu promoting a local vineyard. Exceptional!!
This a fabulous restaurant.
C. N.
Went here yesterday and the food and service was amazing. It's a very romantic little restaurant with service through the roof. You know the food is great when your wife still talks about it the next day. Would recommend
C. W.
Always a fantastic dining experience! Tonight we celebrated my birthday, and enjoyed an extra course with a candle, along with a surprise gift :) the paired cocktails were devine!

Amazing seasonal five course menu with well matched wines recommended by the friendly and knowledgeable staff who take pride in their restaurant and product. Couldn't be happier.
A.
Loved the degustation. Every course was really great and some were brilliant. Matches wines were also great. Also on at Gorman House that night was a wedding and a poetry slam (plus the Mint Garden bar).
P. C.
This hidden treasure of a restaurant is well worth seeking out. Highly recommend doing the degustation with matched wines for a delicious lunch. Perfect for a romantic meal or a small group
D. R.
Great 5 course degustation menu plus amuse bouche, palate cleanser and pre-dessert. Great service, outdoor area is probably nicer than indoor. Toilets well maintained.
C.
Service was outstanding, and vegan food was absolutely delicious!! House sourdough was also 10/10
D. J.
Easily the best restaurant in Canberra 2017 update. Still best in Canberra all the other contenders do amazing meals don't get me wrong but this place is the whole package.
D. S.
Amazing once again, sage pulls out all the stops with a fantastic degustation menu that will appease even the most pickiest of pallettes. My wife was pregnant so they endured that all her plates were pregnancy safe, eg; removed the soft boiled eggs, offered an alternative dish for sashimi. Great job sage!
S. K.
