Boat House is the best fine dining restaurant and wedding venue in Canberra in my opinion! I’ve been to this beautiful place many times and have always been impressed by its excellent customer services, high quality food and wonderful lake view. Staff are so friendly and professional. A perfect place for any type of events or celebrations! Highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have been to this restaurant many times over the years including book launches, birthday parties and private dinner parties. It really is a stylish, sophisticated restaurant with a quiet ambiance in a beautiful setting by Lake Burleigh Griffith. There is a set menu offering modern cuisine with a minimum 2 courses for lunch and 4 courses for dinner. Many of the ingredients are sourced locally. The wine menu is a little restricted. At my husband’s birthday lunch recently we were disappointed to find there was no sauvignon blanc at all on the wine list. He rarely drinks wine but enjoys this particular style on special occasions. He is also pesco-vegetarian and again, it was disappointing that the scallops on offer as an entree could not be served without the chorizo. There was a vegetarian eggplant dish but unfortunately this is the only vegetable he doesn’t enjoy. The server at our table was very attentive and our water was topped up frequently. The lunch was very European in that nothing was rushed and plenty of time for conversation between courses for. The meals were small (which suits me) and beautifully presented. There were several interesting and tasty sides to choose from and I recommend ordering these if you like a big meal but not necessary if you are not a big eater. The one thing we all found odd at our recent lunch was the ‘cheese’ on offer as a third course. We all assumed it would be some sort of cheese platter but was in fact melted cheese on brioche - it seemed more of a ‘starter’ dish. On the whole I think 4.5 ⭐️

We recently visited the new Armada outdoor pop up bar at The Boat House and loved it! We arrived before sunset so we enjoyed watching the sun go down and the lights across the lake when day turned to night. Live music was playing and we enjoyed some delicious food and local beer and wine with a sneaky cocktail to finish. There's nothing else like this in Canberra! It's so close to the water and it's a great way to spend a few hours as a couple or with a group of people. The oysters were freshly shucked and were really good. I loved the pork katsu sandwich too!

It was a wonderful experience to dine at The Boat House. Beautiful location, great service, exceptional food. The flavours were incredible and everything was cooked to perfection- melt in your mouth. The Almond Chicken Ballotine, Jerusalem Artichoke Agnolotti, Charcoal Pork Loin and potato side dish were standouts from out lunch at The Boat House a few Saturday’s ago. The staff really added to our experience. Ute and Steff were particularly helpful and personable. The whole experience reminded us of great meals we have had at Michelin restaurants in France and Italy. We are going again soon.

I must say the food here are some of the best you'll ever have in Canberra. It definitely deserves the two chef's hat recently awarded. The Boat House has always been a great location crying out for food and service to match, and now it's happened. Over nearly 2 hours on a sunny, Saturday afternoon we were served wonderful food, with service to match and a complicated set of dietary requirement (1 celiac, 1 vegan) dealt with with ease. The 3 course set lunch menu is very good value at $77 for the quality of the food here. Hiramasa kingfish and the ginger mirin pork belly were both superb entrees, and the Humpty Doo barramundi, charcoal pork loin and Cowra lamb rump very well cooked mains. The only disappointment was dessert - nothing wrong but we all fell for the Braidwood honey crémeux and it was nice, without being great (interestingly, the vegan version, which replaced the ice cream with raspberry, was much better). Service was top class - quick, informed, friendly, and despite the Covid-induced time and dining restrictions, we never felt pressed for time. A very good addition to Canberra's fine dining scene, and with the location to match.

Went there with my partner on her birthday. The food is amazing for 7 courses. Service is excellent. If I could, I would recommend the chef to reduce the gap between each course. Overall, it is worth trying. Putting down a message when booked the table that it was a birthday dinner, the chef prepared the birthday wish message with the dessert.

Went here on a weeknight with table of 4. The highlight of the restaurant was the view and location, very beautiful. Food on the other hand was good but nothing amazing. The main thing I would say is that the meat for several of the courses was too tough and unpleasant to eat. Overall there are many better up scale restaurants in Canberra for a similar price.

Fine dining at its best. Carefully thought out dishes with flavours measured perfectly. 100 percent satisfied. As a advise I think the carbonated water should be made clear by wait staff that it comes at a charge, we thought it was covered as house water. It still doesn't affect my rating, complements to the Chiefs and I can tell alot of thought, dedication and refinement has gone into the recipes. From the outset, James was incredibly experienced and professional, guiding us through options, set ups, schedules and even alternative arrangements depending on changing Covid-19 restrictions. He made us feel like valued customers from the beginning, even though The Boat House is a venue that is in high-demand regardless. The reception itself went off without a hitch - the food was exceptional, the service was perfect, everything went according to our planned schedule and the staff were flexible during our pack up. We had a delightful lunch at The Boathouse. The staff are charming and efficient and the food delicious. We were deprived of the desserts because we were tempted into eating most of the two side dishes we ordered, alas no self control as they were indeed, tempting. On the other hand, the entrees, main course and sides made the most satisfying meal with our glass of champagne. The seating and hand sanitiser meet Covid rules so we felt completely comfortable. And, less practical, but always a wonderful addition, the views were marvellous.

Fine dining at its best. This is where our fam goes to celebrate family occasions, and it's never failed us. The food is set menu and you can choose 2 or 3 courses and add a cheese plate if you like. The quality and design of the food is awesome and I always struggle with knowing what to order as it is al so different and sounds so tasty. Fantastic! We booked in for lunch and were greeted with a smile at the door. We were placed in a beautiful room and provided menus. 5 star service was expected and 5 star service was received. The staff are very knowledgeable and the chef easily adapted to our dietary requirements. The food was superb; in fact my wife described the Truffle crème caramel desert as making love on a Sunday morning in silk sheets under the warmth of the morning sun. When I visited in mid-October 2019 the ground was covered in white; the closest thing to to snow you'll see in Canberra outside of a rare winter day. A very charming venue set in a park overlooking the lake (parking is available for patrons). The food menu was well balanced, seasonal and the ingredients worked wonderfully together. It was a great rhapsody of tastes enticing our culinary senses wanting for more. Once you finish your lunch or dinner you can move onto the deck and enjoy a drink or two while enjoying the view of the lake and the park. The only reason I scored it 4 is due to the sterile and cold dining room which reflected current situation.

We attended a wedding/reception here and the location, staff and venue were all amazing. The location is simply beautiful, right on the lake and seeing the sunset from our table in the reception room was a sight to see. The venue is well laid out and looks great. The food was fantastic and varied. As for the staff, they were worth a five star rating by themselves. The had clearly built excellent rapport with the bride and groom and were clearly consumate professionals; table service was excellent and every staff member was part of a team that ran like a well oiled machine. Venue and views are great. Desseet was very good, they seem to be the chefs strength. Entrees were good but not amazing. 2 of us ordered the Wagyu hanger steak, both were too chewy and sinewy to eat. I would have given it 5 stars as the new armada bar setting was beautiful, but I wasn’t a huge fan of their drinks and food bookings system which is all electronic - someone who isn’t great with electronics (like my mum) would struggle, or when my phone died I don’t know how they would expect me to order food and drinks. My friend then had to do any ordering for me which becomes complicated with payments. Unfortunately I think their booking table system could also improve or maybe the guy who they had on to organise the table bookings could have done a better job. They obviously pre organise where they are going to sit all the bookings and they are not flexible at all... so our group of 11 had to keep moving and moving to different tables - 3 or 4 times he moved us. At one point it was so ridiculous we had to move to the exact table next to us a metre away to accommodate the next booking. We suggested the tables were exactly the same and to sit the new group on that table - but he couldn’t think outside of the box. We were spending a lot of money - had estimated we were probably close to $800 by this point and when he eventually moved us from a table to a picnic rug that’s when we decided we would leave

Consistently excellent function venue. Been to a couple of weddings here and about 3-4 corporate functions. Service has always been good and the decor etc is good. Views over the lake are awesome and the location has great parking. The best events I've been to have been a wine tasting and a champagne tasting.

Amazing ambience with a unique atmosphere that made it a homey experience. It was neat, well spaced out and comfortable in which we didn’t feel rushed. The food was fresh and well chosen which showcased some of the best Canberran produce and ingredients. the flavour combinations were weird but wonderful with each individual element complimenting another providing flavour fusions that delighted the palette. The waitress we had was very punctual, clear and concise and knew the menu to the smallest detail which was very professional and made this dining experience one to remember. The pricing for quality is so worthwhile leaving us feel satisfied and nothing was left on our plates. Definitely returning again! As a teenager growing up in Canberra i am grateful to be able to experience Canberra for what it is. For those who are looking for the wedding venue, look no further. This is the venue beyond expectations and off the charts. It was quite a challenge for me to find a venue which would be flexible enough to arrange the whole restaurant only for us to accommodate just 18 guests. We wanted to create a cozy and homey atmosphere just for closest family and friends. The Boat House has not only fulfilled our expectations but surpassed them on every level. On top of that the price was very reasonable. Guests from different parts of Australia who attended the function were complimenting the venue all night long. Here are just some of the quotes: ‘I work in hospitality. THIS is a great venue!’, ‘I’ve been to many weddings. This is the best food I ever tried!’, ‘The food is so delicious! My boyfriend went to the kitchen several times to check with the chef on food ingredients’, ‘The service is so amazing! I asked her not to top up anymore, and she just remembers! They remember who drinks what and top up right amount and on time.’ As for us, we just want to thank James who guided us through every step of the function, and was so professional and attentive! We want to thank Emma and Daniela who worked on the day and met our needs before we could voice them. We had a our wedding reception at The Boat House By The Lake and the entire experience was exceptional! Awesome experience. Went here with my brother, partner and mother for a 'nice' dinner. From the start it was a class service. Waiter sat us down but offered us the opportunity to sit out on the deck and enjoy the sunset with ore dinner drinks. This was unique noting they had a wedding on at the same time. Food was exquisite and timely and service was excellent. Only slightly negatives: really consider before having the blue cheesecake and the maître de was a bit ordinary.
