Great menu. It has complete vegan menu, but the non vegan options are also amazing! Quick service and actually have good opening hours unlike many cafes around Canberra.

I had to update my review after one year and trying more options from their menu. Food is really delicious, I love the idea that everything is vegan by default. I've tried several dishes like the vegan schnitzel burger, meatless burger, "fish" burger, fried chicken all vegan and all very good. Always friendly staff and great service. I will definitely keep coming back :)

You can't go wrong with The Fish Shack. Service is always really quick, less than 10m for pick up orders. Prices are reasonable for central Canberra and Hoisin Duck Fries are a must. Recommend a walk to Commonwealth Park to enjoy in the sun rather than eating in the city, just be wary of magpies. Tasty vegan food, not healthy vegan food. That's how it should be.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal from the fish shack on a recent trip!! So stoked to find this gem, delicious, flavourful vegan takeaway! We got a fish and chips (standard vegan) and a chick'n burger (standard vegan). Delicious!! Best faux fish I've ever had, taste and texture and the chips were fantastic too! One of the best places to get food around, staff is super friendly and work very hard and service is fast. Interestingly, they offer vegan versions of most or all of their menu. The food I have had has always been delicious and I will certainly be back for more often.

We tried for the first time Fish Shack. The food is just right. If you are craving for fish and chips with a twist, maybe you should try it. The dining area when the time we had our lunch was untidy and maybe need some wiping and bit of sanitising. Overall, the experience is good.

Yum! Yum! Yum! As I write this review my mouth is starting to water as I think of the amazing food that this place dishes out consistently! The beautiful staff who run this delectable establishment are patient and helpful and each meal I've had here was perfect. Their vegan menu is delicious and so clever, you wouldn't even know it was vegan if noone told you. Their vegan days are great too and wonderful to have in the community! It's lovely to come support a local business and a great cause ❤

Walking around Canberra looking for something to eat today, saw fish shack on google maps and thought oh yeah I'll grab some chips..... Then I realised the whole. Menu was vegan! Hallelujah! Location is fine, outdoors and not too busy with people walking past or cars. Food was cooked very well, and tasted perfect! "fish" was juicy and full of flavour. Burger was also nice, patty was subtle and cheese was tasty. Will reccomend that all vegans pay a visit and give fish shack a try. They also have some non-vegan options if youre on a lunch date with omnis. Peace 👍

Best faux fish and chips! 🐟🎣🍟Don't know how they get the texture and flavour so right, particularly the calamari. Really hits the spot for those vegetarians missing their seafood. Great batter on all the items and tasty chips too. Really friendly and helpful staff, and well priced = hard to fault, 5 stars. We enjoyed the fisherman's basket between two ($17.5 - pictured). The sheltered outdoor area was also surpisingly pleasant and warm for a night in May in Canberra.

My son and I had lunch at The Fish Shack today. My son had calamari and chips and I had the seafood basket. Service was friendly, prompt and attentive and the food was well-presented, fresh and delicious. Did I mention value!? Wow! My seafood basket was the lunch special and only $10! Soooo good. My son had already ordered and paid before we were advised of the special, which was the only negative. Still worth 5 stars regardless. Don't think, just go to The Fish Shack!

The menu was very varied in all vegan foods that seemed would be on a McDonald’s menu instead of here. The burgers, when given looked like actual burgers you would get from normal meat. Along with burgers,there were fish and chips as advertised with the name. They were very tasty and kind of different to others. There was basically only outside chairs but under a small tent in which you have sunlight blocked. Something we forgot to take a photo of was the Korean fried chicken which tasted great. Overall, tasty food, kind staff and unique location.

The location is the best thing. Right at the heart of city walk, you can't miss the hut style roof. We've ordered takeout twice from here ahead of time. Service is always very quick and the quality of the food was always amazing, fresh and hot. The place does offer seating but I would recommend takeaway and ordering ahead of time as seats are extremely limited at least the ones immediately close to the Shack. The fish and chips meals are the most affordable options on the menu according to the servings you are getting as we ordered regular and we were pleasantly surprised at the amount of food we got. Would definitely recommend if you want a quick fresh seafood meal

A very nice, centrally located quick and easy stop for food. Not only that but the food is delicious, comes out fast and the service was very friendly. They have a nice range of vegan options and I would always recommend this place. The only issue I have seems to be the limited seating, but the place is really designed for you to get some food and go find a place to sit near the fountain in the shade on the grass or on a bench and watch the bands play.

I moved to CBR a couple of months ago and have already been to this place more than 5 times. It is a 5km walk from home, but totally worth it. I love that "default vegan" concept, which accommodates non-vegan friends. The food is consistently delicious and the fries and schnitzels are crispy. CBR doesn't have LoTF, but I must admit that I don't miss it.

I walked past this location so many times and never stopped so the crew and I decided to give it a go. It's very vegan friendly, so if you wanted to try plant based options, this place has you covered! Not too bad at all! Good range of meals options from fish and chips to burgers to fresh rice paper rolls. We all decided on seafood options and various sides and sauces. The seafood was well cooked for the most part, and the variety of sauces was appreciated. The citrus aioli was my choice and I was very happy with it. The sweet potato fries were a nice switch up from standard potato chips. Biggest complaint was that it was quite a hot evening and the drinks weren't cold enough. Definately a good place to get your seafood on, and I might try a burger next time coz the options sounded pretty good!

I LOVE the vegan fish burger. Feed it to me all day. The vegan snack pack is also amazing. They both come to me in my dreams and whisper sweet, fried, deliciousness. The vegan chicken burger is also good, but the "fish" burger reigns supreme. Tastes as similar to actual fish as you could possibly get considering it's not actually fish... Chips are nice. The sugar cane juice would be better if ginger and lime were added.

I’m never throwing away another shiitake stem in a desperate attempt to reverse engineer this for at home consumption in Brisbane. After finishing the meal I collapsed onto the cool grass. I was overcome by a feeling of bliss and welbeing from a food induced high. Would probably go back again. The only downside to it was the magpies and the crows hanging right behind us waiting to eat. That was quite scary.

That and soft shell crab galore, excellent chicken nugs along with really good tasting aioli sauce varieties, I'm going back for more! They need to step up their prawn and calamari game though, not really seasoned, 90% of the taste and texture comes from the coating, which is a shame. Burgers are okay, not brilliant, but edible.
