My son took me here a few months ago. Very different to other foods I've tried but great place.

I went to watch open mic night at nirvana only to find it was at the bar adjoining the restaurant. It had a great atmosphere and decor, and the cocktails were different but very delicious. The waitress that served us always had a smile and the musicians put a lot of effort to provide a great open mic experience. What let me down was the food. We ordered the squid and chicken burger and unfortunately both were pretty shocking, I think it's the worst food I had in Darwin, which was a real shame because everything else was great.

Came here as a child in the 90s and it is just as amazing as I remember. Fabulous ambience and food. We had small bites to share. Trio of dips + roti, curry puffs and pakora. All perfect. Bar at the front is vibing a cool American whiskey bar with live music on Saturday nights. Highly recommend!

The banquets were delicious and the bill was easy to split (so many restaurants make this difficult for big groups). Had lots of friends who had never been to Nirvana and they were super impressed and eager to come back for dates! We would recommend and go back. Recommend. very nice

Nirvana has always been a bit hit and miss with their menu, and nothing's really changed. The Pad Thai was really good, as were the chicken satay sticks while the Nirvana oysters were watery and dehydrated. For a place that says they focus on Asian Streetfood and thats what they do best. The service was friendly and quick, and the wine list had a nice mixture. Overall a good meal if you dont pick the fancy items.

We had the $45 banquet for 7 pax. Food's really good, good indian spices flavor with a hint of fusion flavor in there. My favorite was the lamb, which was really soft and flavorful. Cocktails were pretty good too. Service there is really great! Food's quite a long wait though.

Nirvana continues to be excellent. The food, services and drinks are spot-on. The venue and atmosphere are great too. We recently had our (small) wedding reception here and couldn't be happier with how the night went. The drinks list is excellent too - including cocktails and mocktails. Really yummy, great service and nice setting. Loved the bugs. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Beef massaman, butter chicken and lamb korma. Will return.

Decided to update my review in comparison to a few years ago giving Nirvana another go. The food has dramatically improved in comparison to when I last ate there. Not only are drinks great and the staff friendly, there is live music regularly next door in the Smoke and Oak section of the building, with an absinth lounge and a great selection of mains and sides available. Huge selection of specially made cocktails available and hand carved ice to create the perfect spirits on the rocks.

Stopped in for a light snack and found both the Tom Ka and the spring rolls to be very enjoyable. They said they had a nightly buffet that looked pretty good, but wasn't hungry enough to try. Staff kept trying to get me to order more food which was annoying but overall everyone was very friendly and the food was good.

This restaurant is one of the best in Darwin. The variety of menu options is fantastic. The atmosphere is awesome and the team are superb. The artist that played whilst we were at the venue made for a gorgeous night. Nirvana has been established for many years, and continues to be popular, with good reason. Nirvana offers a variety of Thai- and Malay-based dishes. Seafood, chicken, duck, beef, and pork are all on the menu. The menu explains that all meals are only a bit spicy, but this can be aggravated to whatever extent that you please. The menu can be viewed on-line. Main courses are $20~$30. Desserts are not offered. Two at our table had the Chicken & Coconut soup, and it was beautiful. The wine list is extensive, and mostly Australian with some imported. Wines are $40~$90 per bottle. Lighting is subdued. Often, Nirvana has live music. There is plenty of parking. If you enjoy really tasty food, then Nirvana is for you.

I'm visiting. First time there. I want to say the food wasn't bad, better is out there. But what wasn't that great was the help. When my friend asked about a dish the waitress couldn't not really explain it or even what it taste like. My friend decided to order something else. A quirky and fun restaurant, with live jazz music and a fun vibe. Offering Thai, Indian and Malaysian fare, Nirvana does great food. The spiced Lamb Cutlets (although not spicy at all, and come with a delicious dipping sauce!) and the Pork Belly Jungle curry are super super tasty. The service can be a little off, most likely due to how busy the place can get, but you can look past that as you’ll most likely be having a great time.

I went to Nirvana last weekend, on 29th June, for my partner's surprise birthday, with a couple of friends. We all loved the food, the customer service, the venue, the live music, the cocktails and the atmosphere. Staff helped me with the surprise cake that I brought it before and it was an unforgettable night. Thanks to this place to remain open till late and to save my day. Found this place many other dine ins were already closed. Food and service was great. However, didnt enjoy the staff coming and interrupting frequently. And regarding the price, the quantity they serve is not reasonable compared to the price. I opine that they also have to work on maintaining the place well.. dont know what exactly but can smell something foul whole walking towards the dining at the back. Something i dont want to miss in this review is the collection of the artworks, framed and antiques, is great. Loved their table presentation and lighting in the dining with candles and the dim light.

Ate in nirvana for first time tonight. First impressions on walking in were "omg it's so dark and looks like it needs a major make over". However we were greeted by friendliest staff who were warm and welcoming and friendly. We had thr sweet potato puffs for starter which were sooooo good. And second starter was the trio of dips wirh pompadoms and bread. The waiter accommodated us due to a nut allergy and swapped out one of the sauces. For mains we had yellow fish curry and red duck curry. Both were amazing and really decent portions. The waiting staff were the best I havd seen in a long time. I don't know what the waiters name is but he had a beard. He was really attentive and knew the menu thoroughly. The other staff were equally as friendly. Will defi itely be back again soon.

Nirvana is an explosion of flavors with many dishes from Indian and South East Asian cuisines. The restaurant has many seating areas that lend themselves equally well to both intimate and also to group dining. The ambience is casual and fun. Nirvana do not split bills across large bookings so it is easier for groups to order the set banquets which are a good mix of many different types of dishes. For those not looking to dine out Nirvana also offers takeaway ordering direct from their restaurant menu.

I am not too sure where to start - the ambience in the restaurant area is great and tucked away if you're looking to have a quiet meal - that's exactly what my fiancé and I were after. It was like a magical mystery tour to get to the restaurant through the jazz bar, but that just added to the positive vibe and energy. Our waitress was attentive and bubbly - even the barman paid a visit (I'm sure it was to check and see if I was alive after the chilli tequila based cocktails! Which I might add - are fantastic! I recommend "Vote for Pedro", "Tommy Lost in Kuta" is a more heavy duty spiced chilli cocktail - couldn't drink too many of those but great nonetheless. The Mojito's are very well done also) The food was impeccable, large servings and beautifully presented. We are still trying to work out the sauce that was served with the lamb cutlets - a beautiful fusion of flavour!! Overall, we will definitely be back - such a great experience tucked away in a surreptitious corner on the city fringe.
