Comments of Mures Lower Deck
C. A.
Wasn't busy so quick to order. Pink ling fish n chips cost $15. Included lemon, vinegar, tomato and BBQ sauce. Quick and easy meal. Fish was moist and firm. Enough to share between two people if not too hungry. We recommend this place. I had the Riesling, it's really simple and I didn't enjoy it so much. Seems to be a wine made for this restaurant under their own private label.

This was my second time have chips at Mures and they are the best chips that you will get from a restaurant. They are even better with the seasoning that they sometimes bring out. The ice creams are also very good and considering the size they aren't very expensive
B. T.
Lovely and friendly service. The food didn’t quite hold up for the price you pay, however. Presented beautifully and sounded great on the menu but lacked a bit of flavour. Vegetarian entree and main pictured, but my partner had seafood and agreed about the flavour side of things.
S.
Good value seafood platter for 2 I think, but the fish&chips we had that day was average.
The bread served with our seafood chowder fell on the serving tray, I can see our waitress tried to save it but finally gave up, picked it up with her hand and put it on our plate.
I totally understand the struggle and don't have huge problem about that. However it could be something cause for concern, especially during Covid time.

Sorry guys but I think I got the raw end of the tail tonight. This is what I got for $30 of Atlantic Salmon. Not only did someone pick that piece, someone cooked it and someone plated it up. No one asked “really - are we sending that out?” Also, whoever is cutting up the spuds for potato salad, can you tell them “small pieces” - not just cut a spud in half. And as for the taste of the salmon, it matched the appearance. Sorry guys but that’s the truth.
Added 10 Jan: thank you for the reply. I definitely appreciate the difficulty of finding good staff during COVID and take my hat off to you for staying open in difficult times. Thanks for taking my feedback onboard. Geoff

Sat outside looking at the wonderful water views. There are heaters above the tables to keep you warm.Had the catch of the day “pig fish”. Was a nice an firm meat. Batter was ok, but not outstanding. Also have a couple of crumbed scallops and squid ring. All were ok. Came with 3 different sauces without extra charge.
Service was attentive. Was quite busy still the food came to the table at reasonable time.
Value was good.

So good we went two days in a row. Eat in once and take away the next. WONDERFUL seafood. We had two dozen oysters that were so fresh and delicious as well as one of the best Seafood Chowders we've had.
Take away was again, Seafood Chowder as well as Salmon and Chips. WONDERFUL! Will be back next Tassie trip for sure! Staff were also super friendly the whole time.
L. H.
A great place for fresh and delicious seafood in Hobart. The portions were very generous and were worth what you paid. The staff were friendly, kind and helpful. I will definitely come back here next time I’m in Hobart.
A. C.
The cafe have the best Caramel Slice I have ever hunted in my life. So rich and yummy, thick serving with crunchy coconut base. Tiramisu is disappointing. Lots of ice cream flavor selections -average. Coffee is standard. Ok seafood - worth the money. Fresh, generous serving. Fried foods not too oily. Very very friendly and attentive staff. Would be back here again. Sit outside, such a nice view, watchout for the pesky seagulls tho.
A. F.
Big place with lots of tourists! It was a beautiful night so we sat outdoors. The service from the busy wait staff was exceptional. Good clean up and delivery. They work so hard! The oysters, lobster and seafood basket were good, not amazing but it’s take away after all. But the fish was fresh and not oily. The salad was a surprise hit and you can’t beat the authenticity of the view next to fishing boats.
Bonus that they have an ice cream shop in the venue!
M. S.
Today we had some ice cream. As far as ice cream goes, this is one of those “oh there’s a long line, it must be good” places. The ice cream was fine, honestly, but nothing special. If you don’t want to line up in a mask for a while, you won’t exactly be missing out on some sort of iconic experience.

We dropped in here for breakfast on a Sunday morning and it was packed and a cooked breakfast was a 40 minute wait. We then just went to the coffee bar section and got some coffee , a hot chocolate and some toasted banana bread. We sat outside in the sunshine on the wharf. The view and ambience was truly lovely. Parking is right out the front and we had no issues with getting a park. Would recommend a visit to this restaurant. Central, clean and good food.
H. M.
Great food and location. Loved the seafood chowder.
D. K.
Good food and great location. We sat outside and there are heaps of seagulls, but they're polite enough not to try and steal the food until you leave the table. Very picturesque too
P. d. S.
One of the best seafood chowder I ever had. The fish cakes also delicious ans the kids fish fingers were made from fresh fish.
Definitely coming back
B. F.
Great seafood every time. We ordered the fish and chips, and the crumbed scallops and chips. Can’t beat fresh Tasmanian scallops!
Hard to get a table during busy periods, especially inside, but worth the wait if you’re not in too much of a hurry.
D. D.
We went there with our friends in the Mid-Autumn festival. Such fresh fish and chips you can order. They are so yummy. Besides, there are a lot of types of delicious icecream for dessert, so many flavours. We ordered mango and strawberries ones. They are so fresh. Our friends ordered Rum and raisin, yummy too. Lovely place to catch up.
G. R.
Dined here several times last August 2019
Traditional fish and chips but yummy! Affordable selections as well. I love their drinks!
E. L.
Good location at the waterfront but the food is average quality n the service is slow. Many tourists come here but there are many available tables. Seafood chowder and fisherman's basket are good. Food prices slightly expensive. Overall, you can find better food n service elsewhere in town.
Food: 5/10
Prices: 6/10
Ambience: 6/10
Service: 5/10

The staff was very friendly and the seafood very fresh highly recommended

It's an institution in Hobart, the food is always fresh and good. Chips can make or break a seafood restaurant, as one would assume the fish dishes are going to be spot on. Mures chips are crispy and well seasoned.
I gave 4 stars, as this time i had the fish burger, which sadly was a little underwhelming. The fillet was good, but it needed some extra life, such as a more interesting salad and perhaps a vinaigrette instead of the boring mayonnaise i think i could taste. Only just, mind you.
Great seating, outdoor is always a plus for me. Will definitely be back.
R. B.
Used the fresh fish bar. Great selection of fresh fish & other seafood. Service was great. Bought an ice cream on the way out as a treat.
D. T.
Their mango ice cream is to dying for. The Honey Pokey (if I’m remember right) is ok, great texture. The macadamia flavour is all right, personally I don’t like it. The place is warm, spacious and good atmosphere. Staff are superb and friendly. Price is decent and affordable. Will come back for more flavour and try on the fish and chips.
M. H.
Very good food with customer service to match. Plenty of fresh seafood to choose from; beer on tap too. Would return here again.
P. P.
Seafood chowder was wonderful, but serve of fish and chips was lacking. Great views. Friendly and prompt service.
K. L.
Generous portions and great view/vibes.
j. p.
Delicious crumbed fish and salad dinner, very affordable and ambient location although quite close to a carpark! City Council should relocate carpark off pier area!
S. M.
We love Mures. Very generous serves, great value, best fresh food and lots of salads. Has a huge ice cream bar. Great seating inside and out and fabulous position on harbour. Couldn't ask for more. A must see, do, eat, enjoy when in Hobart!
D. C.
One of the best places in Hobart to get fresh seafood at reasonable prices (with great views). The service is friendly and efficient given the fact that they always seem to be busy with flocking tourists and ,y advise would be to go here on a weekday lunch to best enjoy the food. Freshly shucked oysters and lightly friend Calamari - can’t beat that!
L. J.
Coffees came out fast, were decent, unfortunately the 3 year olds milkshake came out 10 minutes later, and they didn't bring milk for the tea. Watched him serve everyone else before getting the milkshake made, which in my opinion was not great, luckily we have a patient kid.
O. R.
I liked the crumb fried (and not the usual beer battered) fish n chips for $15. They've an array of seafood choices and ice creams. It has a large seating capacity. Top floor is owned by the same management but is a more classy restaurant (unlike the bistro on ground floor) and has a bar which I didn't visit as ground floor is more family friendly. The service was a tad slower than I thought as the buzzer if my pager went off after at least 15 mins wait just for a fish n chips order. They also sell raw/fresh seafood.
Tartare sauce costs extra $2 btw.
S. F. L.
This is an institution in Hobart, located in a prime waterfront location in front of the harbour. Specialising in seafood, the lower deck is a causal, canteen style restaurant offering seafood classics such as fish and chips, seafood platters and fresh oysters.
No visit to Tasmania is a visit without eating oysters! I prefer fresh oysters but this time felt like like oysters Kirkpatrick. Ordered half a dozen, a generous heaping of bacon strands with a tangy, Worcestershire sauce coating the oysters. I couldn’t ask for a more perfect starter.
I also had the catch of the day (blue trevella) served with chips and choice of two salads (although the time of night we dined which was 8pm on a Saturday, there was not much choice of salad).
I dined here two years ago and was slightly more impressed, it might have been the time of he evening we were here when it seemed most things had sold out but at least there was enough seating without having to wait for a table.
M.
Unbeatable 15$ fish burger, which was absolutely delicious! Happily surprised that fries comes with vinegar. That is the correct way of doing it.
Good location, good venue.
Only negative point is that they have Cascade Pale Ale available on tap, which is a basic lightweight tasteless watery lager (miles away from a pale ale) but that is Cascade Brewery’s fault ;)
5 stars for the venue tho!
V. W.
An open seafood restaurant. We ordered the foshermans basket whuch was full of freshly cooled seafood. The batter was average and slightly crumbed. Chips so crisp for the first few bites but then get soggy and an oily taste emerges. Blue grenadier is slighlty fish and overcooked. Lobster was fresh and meaty.
J. M.
Different to the up- market Upper Deck.
Lots of choice on the menu and you can also buy fresh uncooked seafood as well.
Reasonably priced. Friendly, helpful staff.

Fabulous restaurant the best location. Lower deck ideally laid out for families and groups. Wonderful views the menu reasonably priced, good variety of seafood prices. Treat yourself to an ice cream. Raspberry sorbet amazing. Saving our pennies to go again soon.
H. Z.
Delicious fish n chips with a view!
R. S.
Very busy the day we went (during school holidays) but was happy to wait. Meals were pretty good, and priced fairly. Does feel a bit chaotic in there so we sat outside.
It’s not too fancy, but it’s not trying to be.
C. D.
Cheapest oyster dozen in the area. They keep tabasco source at the counter for your oyster. The tourist are here and that is a great sign that the seafood is a bargain. Great selection of wine and beer.
T. D.
THE EXCELLENT LOCATION OF THIS RESTAURANT, YOU CAN ENJOY THE PORT VIEW. I LOVE THE ICECREAM, BUT THE FISH & CHIPS IS NOT THAT GOOD COMPARED WITH OTHERS I'VE EVER TRIED BEFORE. BUT I CAN'T LOVE SEAFOOD CHOWDER SOUP MORE.

The lower deck is a good casual eating place. We grabbed a spot outside by the water as it was a nice evening and it’s also an optimal spot for a bit of people watching. I had grilled salmon with a Caesar salad and chips. The salmon was a nice size and beautifully cooked. It was still nicely moist and altogether very tasty. The salad was a decent size too and reasonably done. The chips padded things out a little but were good as well. Alcohol wasn’t a bad price given the location of the bistro. An added attraction is the free on tap sparkling water.
My companions enjoyed their meals too. All in all it’s a good place. A slick and worthy operation.
If you’re into chaos it’s worth being outside at Mures Lower Deck to watch what happens when customers leave their table after a meal. The watching seagulls descend on the table in an instant and go for the leftover food. It’s a violent but somewhat entertaining sight that can involve lots of action, noise and even shattered glass. We saw it happen at two tables but avoided it with ours by calling a staff member before we left our table. NB, anyone who was distressed by Hitchcock’s “The Birds” should sit inside.
G. M.
We usually eat here when we visit Hobart. Good seafood with a casual atmosphere. Sometimes a bit crowded which indicates it must be pretty good. Blue-eyed Trevalla was yum!
a. c.
Lovely staff. Friendly. Was not crowded for lunch. Kids had ice cream. Loved it. I myself had oysters and chips. Good to taste fresh oysters (I mean proper ones. Not brought from Woolies or Coles).
Prices are reasonable and the place is clean. If your reading this then this is a sign to try it. ☺️

Mures is a staple name in Hobart. Coming here with high expectations because their name always comes up in websites as places to visit. This place is big! The oysters and the fisherman's basket are pretty average. The chowder was disappointing considering it's highly recommended. It was bland and lacking that seafood taste in the soup although there was generous amount of it in the chowder.

Love this place the fish is so fresh it almost tastes like chicken, get the blue eye trevalla! Wish there was a grilled option for this! Staff are always friendly, and the icecream bar is great try the hot chocolate fudge sauce with your favourite ice cream I a cup, they are generous and it's affordable!
P. L.
very fresh seafood! Excellent service too, the girl who served us was very friendly :) I ordered a platter and a large chip with a jug of post mix and it only costs $50 for two. Sauces were free at the counter with different varieties. The oysters and prawns we had were very fresh! Worth the visit if you visit Hobart!
J. M.
Ice cream is always good here on a warm day. Too bad some customers don't understand personal space in the current climate.
S. P.
Tried a scallop pie, fish pie and various other seafood. Was absolutely delicious. Well worth it!
K. K.
Strongly recommend!
Great kids&family friendly restaurant!
During school holiday, kids can get a bottle of juice and single huuuuge icecream!
Fish and chips are fresh and hot.
J. V.
Pretty average quality food but then again you get what you pay for. There is a reason why the oysters are about half the price of surrounding venues. If you're on a budget then come here but otherwise you'll be better off going elsewhere.
W. L.
very good dinner option, with lots of variety of seafood and pretty good value. the chowder was awesome on a cold and windy night
C. L.
Thursday dinner, casual dining with fish & chips, fresh oyster, salad and ice cream. One the best seafood restaurants in Hobart.
J. s.
The decoration in the shop is very local. I strongly recommend that oyster Kirkpatrick is delicious, affordable and nice for taking photos.🤣 All the staff are very amiable. By the way, they all buy from fishermen who insist on sustainable fishing. This restaurant is one of the best seafood restaurants in Hobart. Please don't miss it
D. A.
Quick service, friendly staff. Ordered a seafood basket and some food for the kids. Most of the food was great, however the fish that was included in the seafood basket was very unpleasant! Tasted like how Whiskers cat food smells 😬😬
Z.
Best and real fish and chips ……
M. M.
I had an Egg Benedict this morning. It was the best!! I had Egg Benedict in many cafes and restaurants, but this one was amazing.
N.
Very good ice cream, very reasonably priced too!
J. B.
Great service, lovely food and reasonably priced. Staff are very friendly.
Had fish and chips for dinner one day, very tasty, nice and fresh. Went in for breakfast 3 days in a row and all food was served quickly, good variety for all tastes and priced very reasonably too. Highly recommend for anyone, but especially for families with children of all ages.
M. G.
Crumbed scallops were delicious, fisherman's basket was very average, fish was flavourless, prawns had poopshoots still in, squid rings were great, chips were average and not nice.
S. G.
Food portion size was bit less in my opinion. Customer service was ok. Food quality was normal. Overall, good place for hangout
S. C. T.
Natural Oyster was absolutely fresh and on the larger size. Other dishes were not too shabby, good enough to fill the belly
A. A.
Really chill place. Great coffee not too much burned, enough strong, basically perfect! We went there twice in 2 days. Nice spot for family and for chilling. There are really comfortable sofas inside and you can stay there as much time as you want. Good service a bit slow but remember that you are in slowbarth ahahaha😁😁😁
C. M.
Decent prices and pretty fresh quality seafood. Would definitely recommend checking out and the inside dining options looking out to the view of the wharf is definitely a plus
D. B.
Lovely place to sit outside on a good day. Food 8/10. Service a bit lacking but ok. Still recommended.
H. D.
Was really looking forward to some good fish and chips but this was just average
The food was cold, the service very minimal and aside from the location there was not much going for the whole thing
A bit of a shame because for what you get it isn’t cheap either
Wouldn’t recommend but also wasn’t bad
Was lovely to sit on the pier
The ice cream was very very average
C. &. B. D.
Having taken my Fiancee to MURES on his fly home day in the hope they had listened to my feedback I was EXTREMELY HAPPY RO SEE THEY ARE BACK TO WHAT I KNOW AND RAVE ABOUT TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS. MY SUNDAE WAS BACK IN THE BIG BOWL CUP AND MY FIANCEE OREO SUPERSHAKE COULDNT BE FAULTED EITHER 😊😊 WELL DONE MURES!!
Extremely disappointed. Having been coming here every time I visit Hobart for their renowned Sundaes and always raving about them to friends and family, I almost fell off my chair when I got my sundae this time. It was literally a 1/3 of the size they used to be and a complete let down. I was so sad at what I received. It would seem they are happy to significantly reduce the size of a signature dessert yet have not done anything to the price which remains at $9.95 each. Having been more than happy to pay that in the past due to the size and quality of what you were receiving I felt dupped and ripped off with what I got this visit. The coffee however was still enjoyable.
M. A. T.
I don’t see fish burger the same anymore after I had one at Mures Lower deck. It was so good! Simple and spectacular. Great price, great food, great ambience with great view. Must try when you are in Hobart.
A.
Great service and food was delivered to table. Well space seating and not crowded, fish was very tasty and good value
C.
Just very good and fresh food. Enjoyable dock view. Can't expect more than that.😍😍😍
c. s.
Mures has 2 restaurants, 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs. We chose to eat downstairs which is the more casual of the 2. It took us a while to order as the menu is varied. A large selection of beer available and I decided to go local with Cascade. After placing our order at the counter, we didnt wait long for our order. Fish was delicious with a light crispy batter. My partner ordered a special that came with a salad that he chose from their selection. Not much talking as we tucked into our very yummy meal.
There is an ice cream bar on the way out with a varied selection of flavours. A good way to end the meal
W. A.
The best freshest fish grilled with chips and great fresh coleslaw in a large bowl such good value and delicious
Great service all round too
Don't go anywhere else
R. A.
Can't ask for much more, really..moist and delicious fish in a light crispy batter, overlooking the harbour. Chips were okay.
K. H. h.
Great breakfast, friendly and helpful staff. The smell of fresh fish is a little confronting at first but there are seating and tables further away.
R. W.
Went here after visiting the nearby Boer War Memorial. Very popular venue, thus very busy, but good swift service. Fish was somewhat dry as agreed to by my friend. Perhaps that's because the demand is so great. Came with the usual chips.
L. W.
First experience here tonight great atmosphere food was awesome friendly staff was pleasantly surprised
C. L.
Visited twice on 26/12/19 and 27/12/19. Excellent seafood and reasonably priced.
S. G.
Great breakfast and coffee, they also sell my old times favourite SPIDERS. Went back several times during stay.
M. K. R.
Beautiful ambience and welcoming staff. Great for Chrisy meals on the whole day. Great choice in harbour place.
S. M.
Went for a coffee this afternoon and the kid that made my takeaway coffee was so hospitable. Great staff overall.
G. T.
Good place to hang out with friends. Ice cream was good and at cheap price. Cakes were ok. And free sparkling water and tap water. It was good experience here.
Q. A.
Food was good but there was too much fish smell inside the cafe.
A. C.
Fresh fish and oysters!!! And the view!!!! Quite reasonably priced but we waited for more than 20mins for our order to arrive.
K. R.
Great place to stop in for seafood last minute. Fresh oysters were amazing
T. L.
Seafood is very fresh. Fish can be grilled more crispy. Service is minimum.
C. S.
Fast & casual fish & chips eatery. Good prices and good servings. Batter was a bit heavy overall but great selection on the waterfront. Tables are hard to come by so be prepared to come early or skulk around until one frees up.
Tasty dip (not tartar but worked well!) and good ice-cream 🍦
Upstairs was fully booked and looked like it could be a great option.
I loved how access-friendly this place was.
D.
A great selection of seafood dishes as well as being every fresh and delicious.
P. S. L.
Came here for breakfast before we take our flight back to melbourne. Breakfast selection and coffee are good. But unfortunately From the Fryer is not available during breakfast hour. We would like to visit again for lunch or dinner to try out the food!
L. P.
Had the ice cream, came everyday after for my remaining stay in hobart. Get the ice cream. Try macadamia and rum and raisun. Their double scoops are like 4 scoops and their triple scoops are 8 scoops I'm not kidding. Look at the photos! Best ice cream I've ever had!
B. J.
Beautiful breakfast this morning. The Eggs Royal was super delicious and the hollandaise sauce was perfect. The atmosphere was relaxing and the staff were super friendly
P. S. (.
Mures uper deck has magnificent seafood and gorgeous views of the Hobart waterfront, especially of an evening.
L. S.
Fresh food all througout. Service is excellent, you can never go wrong.
B. C.
Easy parking, 3.5 per hour
Breakfast available from 7-10:30
The big brekkie is good for sharing
L. N.
Oysters are amazingly creamy, my favourite! Fresh Prawns with lemon were beautiful! Highly recommend Mussel pot too! The grilled fish i chose wasn't good, i think because it was a cheap one. Super busy place.
C. b.
Always a pleasant experience. Been coming to Mures lower deck for over 20 years. The seafood is always on point. Can be difficult to get a table occasionally tho.
M. B.
We shared a bottle of Tassy Rose and a dozen oysters...so fresh so delicious...great value for such quality..
P. N.
Love the fresh aeafood there. Especially when their fishing boat comes in with new stock of fish. Free filleting and frames for fish stock
R. S.
Great location, good food and efficient service. The only disadvantage is that a squabble of seagulls are likely to hamper the peaceful surroundings in the outdoor sitting area.
A. Z. D.
Its ok, good views, and food is not bad.
M. A. G.
Very convenient location, plenty of options. We had breakfast (generous portions), we tried Lunch, the soup was fantastic, very recommended.
Also they have a lovely oyster bar
D. N.
Great place to enjoy some seafood by the sea.
Friendly staff and good for the kids.
S. T.
Fresh seafood by the harbour with plenty of outdoor seating. It's all priced reasonably as well. Don't be put off by the longish queues, service is efficient and food comes relatively quickly.
My favourite place to eat in Hobart by a mile
M. S.
Excellent food, highly recommended 👍
M. Z.
Really nice fish n chips and chowder!! We were there 4x through out our trip. Yummy ice cream too. We tried Mako fish outside just to see the difference and definitely regretted it. A must go more than once.
M. K.
Great fresh fish and seafood to select from.
M. A.
Very nice place, with great breakfast and ambiance. Loved it. Wonderful experience!
n.
I had the smoked trout, and it was great! Large portion, plus they take it and put it on a fancy platter with a bunch of garnishes.
N.
Meeting place for the Hobart Soul Mates running club. We meet here on a Friday morning, do our run around the city and then have coffee at Mures when we finish. The staff are always friendly, and don't mind our sweat. And the coffee is great.
D. L.
Came here twice in a week cos the food was so good. Everything we tried was amazing.
R. I.
Quality was super yummy and got some decent sized pieces, tried the ling medallion fish. Stingy with lemon with only one provided (including larger fish pieces).
J. L.
Great Seafood and ist class service
S.
Mures can be described as the literally only one you can go during night time for catching up and having dessert with your friend near the city. It's just right in front of warf and Salamanca area.
Nice location, open til the late and also, have great ice cream collections
R.
Had ice cream galore here. Food at the resto was also delicious!
C. C.
Visit every time we come to Hobart. Cheap and cheerful fish and chips! The seafood is always fresh and the place is always packed.
A. W.
Really good ice cream. when you say 1 scoop they will give you 2.
K. D. (.
Lovely food and service. Need squirt bottles to keep seagulls away
P. S.
Coffee 3.5 ⭐️ Milk shakes 5 ⭐️ Breakfast a little over priced, Size small
m. f.
Great ice cream and dog friendly. 🐕
B. C.
Just an awesome position and the fish was fresh. Loved the water bar and the salt and sauce bar. Crumbed fish or the day and chips looking out over the docks.
O. A.
Just arrived in Hobart from QLD and started off the trip with a nice hot chocolate!
J. G.
Good place to eat fresh fish and fish'n chips in the heart of Hobart. Spacious, child friendly and good service.
J. Q.
OK but the place is a bit crowded. Enjoyed our meal
A. A.
Good fish and chips, very busy place so long wait for service
G. J.
Visit spoilt by parking fine.....excellent seafood and wide choices
P. H.
What I like about this place is that over the years we have been coming here the food has always been good. Consistency and good quality will always win out with me. It is a great place for a quick bite.
F. T.
Jade is nice at the counter, very patient, but the food is so expensive for a small portion
J. T.
Nice food and good service, a pity I am too full to try the gelato.
p. l. w.
Great food , beautifully presented raw seafood display.
A. A. S. P. L.
Food quality is amazing , pricing is reasonable. The place has great views and very friendly staff. The only negative are the toilets. The men’s toilet is appalling at the time of writing this review visited the place twice with in the the week at two different occasions and reported it to the manager on my first visit and no action was taken till the second visit.
If you are too full and wanna puke just visit the men’s toilet. I can now smell the toilet in the dining area too, every time some one opens the toilet door- it’s yucky.
But leaving aside toilet it’s a good place to dine in. Be prepared to pay for parking no free parking here . There is plenty of parking .
May be the management is able to take a quicker action

Dinner Thursday 7th Jan 4 adults + 6yo.
A no fuss open dining hall style environment serving fish and chips. Serving staff were friendly and attentive in a very busy environment. Fish ( and Cray) was of high quality which you would expect being on the wharves of Hobart and no export market to speak of currently!
K. H. N.
Pretty good seafood joint. Not the cheapest but the food is enjoyable.
L. L.
Best oyster ever ♥,so fresh and taste really good
W. C.
Tried the ice cream which are decently priced and GENEROUS in portion. Order 2 scoops if you are brave!
G. B.
Mures Upper Deck food, service and wine excellent, not too expensive either. Atmosphere warm and welcoming, comfortably able to sit and chat. Had a coffee downstairs in Pearl & co again very good service to be recommended.
I. P.
The breakfast was very nice, Service was good. But for dinner this place is messy not enough staff for dinner rush.
A. J.
Lovely place, delicious breakfast. Will be coming here again and again..
N. H.
Good place for a quick seafood meal, with a nice variety on display. It's almost setup like a food court scenario so don't expect a fine dining experience, but seafood is definitely fresh.
M. N.
The wait was long and most foods were mediocre. The natural oysters didn't really taste fresh, so it was a big disappointment for me.
At least the grilled fish tasted really good, highly recommend for the people visiting there. It was the other fish, not the salmon - forgot what it was called hahaha
R. X.
Fish basket was ok
Grilled salmon not recommended
Good seafood pizza
Reasonable price
Friendly staffs
good family dining spot
N. C.
Great food and excellent price!!
J. M.
The staff in the ice cream section were super friendly and helpful. The servings were generous and overall experience was pleasant. We totally recommend a visit to Mures Lower Deck.
S. f.
Great spot on the waterfront and amazing food. Best chips in town and fish perfectly cooked. I would definitely check out the ice cream counter, what a range of delicious flavours! Amazing prices and family friendly. Free bubbly water at a dispenser and colouring ins for the kids. 100% reccomend Mures.
S. L.
We had the oyster platter and the lobster. Both absolutely incredible! Love the location on the water. Service was wonderful! Very special night .
F. L.
Fish and chips were OK. Came in with high expectations and was a little disappointed. View was nice. Staff and service was good.
i. m.
nice spot on the wharf with plenty of tables inside and out. staff were super helpful, great selection of seafood.
M. R.
Very friendly service, food was ok but small and drinks very expensive for a casual sitting. However there's always ice cream and the ice cream there is on point.
C. T.
The blue grenadier & dock cider go perfectly together. This was one of our favourite places to eat on our holiday to Hobart.
N. R.
Fantastic food, great prices.
The best value I've creams in Hobart. The single serve ice cream is the equivalent of double in other places. A great selection of icecreams.
A. -.
Although service can be slow. Staff are friendly and food great
T. K.
The best seafood in Hobart city.
B. M.
Great spot for a delicious meal and drink. We really enjoyed the menu variety and freshness of the seafood. The staff were friendly and helpful. Nice wharf spot with great windows for the view. Enough space between tables so as no to feel too squashed with other patrons. The only down side is they're sometimes slow to clean tables. Though that's not really a reason not to return.
G. D.
My first sit down meal in Hobart. Wonderful experience, thoroughly enjoyed our food and service. Excellent seafood, if time allows will be back. Cheers...
B. M.
We had the sharing platter and chowder. I am going to dream about this. So good.
P. M.
Cheap seafood eats to high end right on the waters edge.
Would visit again
H. F.
Service was friendly and fast. Food was ok. For the price, it was a little disappointing. Chowder was nice, though. I give 4 stars because of excellent icecream and serving size. We went back the next day for more icecream.
H. E.
The best seafood chowder I have ever eaten, happily fly 3 hours to eat it again. Seriously the best feed in Tazzie and the best price and service. Thanks guys I will be back.
W. D.
As usual really great. My friend and I didn't want chips and had ordered side salads, and the staff gave us the sides without charge for the fish and chips price! That is service!!!
T. P.
Beautiful fresh seafood. The smokey fish chowder is the best.
L. R.
Delicious food..staff amazing...window table great view over the docks.
J. N.
The best seafood chowder I've had to date and l love the fact they have sparkling water on tap!
J. C.
Last minute decision at 8pm to see if we were able to order meals.
Lower deck
Happily greeted and orders taken.
Duty Manager was doing an Amazing job.
Apologised for our very short wait on drinks. Was obviously covering many duties herself
Fantastic table care and service.
Food was delicious.
Ice cream to follow.
Please pass on our thanks and aporeciation to Duty manager and staff. Thank you xx
G. P.
Pretty ordinary processes when a 35min wait turned into a 50min wait for 3 of our party of 5 and an hr 10mins for the other 2. Must have been a bad night in the kitchen! But I certainly won't be rushing back. The meals were ok when they finally arrived but certainly not worth the wait. To be fair, the last 2 meals were refunded but all I really wanted was to eat in a reasonable timeframe
J. M.
Very nice feed ,fish and chips . Clean and pleasant staff.
C. S.
Had been putting off trying here after a poor upper deck experience. Very regretful! This place is great for families. Spacious with high chairs, crayons and colouring for kids (with crayons that aren't just stubs), sparkling water on tap and reasonably priced fish and chips with a great kids menu. The ice cream bar is fantastic. While definitely be returning.
M. Q.
Always great for fish and chips. The view from outside is great too.
R. O.
Thier icecreams are very popular, its a pitty they don't stock Tasmanian made ice cream. Nothing on display to say where it is made, but on enquiry I find it's made in Victoria. Sad from a fish place that specialises in locally caught fish.
m. s.
Shaina is the most hard working staff I see every time I come down for coffee.
Hope bosses acknowledge her.
Didn't give five stars because sofas need to be changed.
V. P.
Fresh seafood and a great view. Try the Mures Marinade fish. Think KFC coating on delicious marinated fish. Delicious!
A.
Room with a view, and easily the best fish and chips in Tassie! We enjoyed a gorgeous lunch with some fab local wine outside...it doesn't get better than that on a beautiful sunny afternoon. Highly recommend.🧡🌞
S. W.
Really vibrant. Good value seafood meals. Unpretentious and family friendly. Check out the ice cream counter. Flavours are awesome. Also has some outside seating which is really lovely if the weather is okay.
R. B.
Good friendly service and a great meal. Good views over the harbour
C. K.
They provide great breakfast! The egg benedicts is lovely and delicious!
C. S.
Honestly the best Fish and chips I’ve ever eaten! No exaggeration, absolutely unbelievable.
Get the Blue Eye.
I’m from melbourne but I will be coming back!
T. N.
Scallop was delicious. Fish and chips was goood. Too much chipssss. Awesome.
L. L.
We actually dined on the Upper Deck a delight not to be missed in Hobart as a first class restaurant providing quality well cooked food and efficient friendly service.
S. T.
Good quality seafood. We had chowder and mussles. Seafood caught fresh with their own fishing boat. Good customer service
R. I.
Quality was super yummy and got some decent sized pieces, tried the ling medallion fish. Stingy with lemon with only one provided (including larger fish pieces).
N.
Fun atmosphere, great ice cream, lots of energy

Good seafood chowder and lots of it. Fish and scallops were very nice.
G. S.
The food was of good quality and the service was friendly
P.
Nothing to complain about, great service, great food, all was a great experience for myself and family.
P. L.
Food okay, staff friendly and pretty busy
G. T. L.
Beautiful fresh seafood, perfectly cooked and a awesome little ice cream bar for desert on the way out. Kids love the place too. Always on our list for a feed when in Hobart.
P. L.
Food okay, staff friendly and pretty busy
L. W.
Love the fish. Like all seafood restaurants they serve too many chips and its wasteful. We go there on hot days for the Ice Cream .... best in Hobart
D. H.
Great food and beer, annoying seagulls. Eat inside
K. T.
They said the wait was going to be 45 mins. It came out in 15 mins. Thanks! Kids meal was a very generous serve. I had the chowder and it was delightful! Hubby enjoyed the alcoholic ginger beer!
L. G.
Yummy and affordable fresh seafood chowder - $13 a bowl, served with bread and butter. Seriously good.
P. G.
Delicious fresh food, friendly helpful staff, awesome views, great atmosphere.
G. B.
Fantastic sea food worth travelling to! Great ice cream, as well!
Grandma's treat on the final day of my visit. So many delicious flavours of ice cream, such a difficult choice. Even a choice of type of cone, for goodness sake! Also seating outside, and parking but it's not free, sadly. Highly recommended.
h.
Slow service but food was good.
T. S.
Beautiful food, very busy and not as clean as one would like, still awesome food
T.
Enjoyed the meal, fish was super fresh and was cooked very well
R. O.
Huge menu of seafood , great selection of coffee and huge icecream selection
P. C.
Good ambiance, food and service with a smile.
J. E.
Lovely setting. A bit crowded though but I guess it gets crowed in the afternoons. Enjoyed a nice cup of hot chocolate!
A. S. P.
Tried the catch of the day. They make the fish crispy in the outside and still soft in the inside. The chips also nice and tasty.
In the other section they have gelato corner, and it has varieties of flavours. Great taste, friendly and patient staff.
D. R.
While in Hobart at Victoria dock, this is a must stop for lunch. 30-45 minute wait, busy popular spot. Nice outdoor seating, shared my table with Tony, sweet Aussie from Sydney, had time to spare, so drove me around Franklin site seeing. Awesome day. Food was worth the wait. Deliciousness 😋👌
S. W.
Great food, lovely setting, even a spray bottle for the hills.
S. S.
Very nice breakfast
K. P.
We went for a special dinner upstairs early on a Thursday June night. It was freezing outside and so welcoming and warm inside. We were sat by the window overlooking the fishing boats so nice. The service was very attentive and knowledgeable. We enjoyed complementary bread made on site which was warm and fresh. I had the seafood chowder which was the best. I highly recommend it. My husband had the oysters which he liked a lot. We shared the seafood platter which was a bit too much fried stuff for me but it was all fresh and tasty. I would definitely go back thank you for a lovely evening.
P. T.
It is good and I would recommend buying fish and chips here over some of the nearby floating fish and chip shops as the consistency of the cooking is far better (probably quality of fish too). The interior has a bit of a canteen feel to it though.
I would also recommend as a fish monger for fresh fish. They will normally prep fish and squid eg skin, pin bone, etc how you want it and can do a far better job than I will ever be capable of without losing fingers!
They are also able to provide mussels in quantities of less than 1kg on request which my wife is delighted about as I hate mussels.
F. a.
This place is good for a quick eat or buying some seafood to cook at home. Its really good quality fresh fish, but it isn't cooked very well in store. Go upstairs if you want a better dining experience. The building itself has some very interesting historical standings. The staff should be happy to tell you some information of it's founding and some good places to visit nearby.
F. F.
Family lunch, mon 13th July. Just lovely. Food was good and the service was perfect.
All of the staff that we interacted with were not only professional but extremely warm, attentive and had no problem with our energetic 8 & 9 year olds who always love Mures.
My Scollop Pie was deliceous. The scollops were soft with roe attached, in a mild creamy curried sauce, looking great in its high pastry pie case. The garden salad with it was fresh and crisp. My choice of a balsamic dressing was not as sharp as I make...but good all the same.
The others opted for a variety in seafood baskets which were all good.
The girls retrieved their own favourite Valhalla icecreams which they always delight in.
I also tried a Pear Cider which was a very good choice for the pie. A nice fresh lemon finish was as good as any wine.
Thankyou to all at Mures. You deserve these 5 stars.
J.
Visited Mures from a recommendation from a friend. I didn't have high expectations however I found the price quite steep when compared to the quality provided. Ordered a seafood basket and a share dish consisting of oysters, prawns, salted fish etc. The prawns did not taste fresh and the shell was quite soft when peeling. The salted smoked fish was unbearably salty. I am a massive fan of anything smoked and cured, but found this to be far beyond what I usually experience. The fisherman's basket was reasonable with the scallops being quite sweet when biting into. The rest was the same type of fried food that you would get from anywhere else.
I will mention one thing, I was server by a lovely lady operating the bar, I was purchasing a drink for my partner and, the drink she sent me to get was not available, the lady at the bar had the knowledge to recommend a range of similar drinks she may like and provided a small tasting to ensure she was happy with the drink. A level of customer service I don't usually come across.
B. H.
Tasty food, Friendly service, nice atmosphere.
The problem(s)? Price and serving sizes:
The dishes are pretty expensive for a 'bistro' type setting. The fish portions were far too small for the price and the dishes were 'bulked up' with chips and salad. Although the fish were tasty it felt like there were only a few bites. The Chowder was pretty decent, although the bread rolls were cold.
K. F.
Fisherman’s seafoods with beautiful harbour view. Oysters taste fantastic!
G. S.
The food was of good quality and the service was friendly
S. P.
U R thinking about fresh seafood, do not hesitate to try there. Half dozen of the fresh oyster was $18. Do not miss fresh~
J. H.
Good quality and tastyfood without the trashy sauces you find on some restaurant food. When you eat fish it tastes like the fish and not like chicken schnitzel.
G. S.
The chowder was amazing as was the other food we ordered
D. M.
Good place for chips and ice cream...
L. S.
Best ice cream! So many flavours to choose from. I recommend a double or triple scoop in a cup to share with your partner.
C. L.
Crayfish & Dunalley, Blackman Bay oysters were fresh & amazing.
S. S.
Nice fresh fish but no idea how to make coffee
B. M.
Great quality food, very reasonably priced, great views, child friendly. I would go back here again quite happily and would like to try breakfast there as well. The selection of ice cream flavours is large and the “free small ice cream with a child’s meal” was large enough that It was shared between Ms2, my wife, and myself.
D. J.
Fresh seafood nicely cooked. Great ice cream. Good location with nice views. Best bargain is the seafood chowder but don’t tell anyone, they run out early. Always stop for coffee and ice cream when traveling through town.
B. A.
Great food ,nice place and helpful staff😍
d. f.
Good place for a drink and a bite to eat
R. D.
Arrived at the height of the dinner rush, but the friendly staff got our food to us quickly. I had the Fisherman's Basket which was quite good. Almost too much to finish.
P. H.
Amazing food. Amazing view. All you could ask for. BEST seafood chowder in town!!!! And the most wide array of flavours and generously served ice cream cones. AND sparkling water on tap. What more could you want? Absolute must if you are in Hobart.
J. I.
Excellent breakfast. Great value for money. Staff are on the ball. Can’t complain about this place.
G. T.
Always, yop service and great food. AAA+
S. T.
Not the best Sea food for sure but a good option in Hobart. We did not much enjoy may be since we went around 8:00pm. Oysters were sold out. Place was crowded and chaotic. The service was slow. Overall average experience.
N. W. H.
Great place to eat and relax. We have fish and chips here. Their baterred fish m chips are nice. Price quite reasonable, almost the same price in Sydney. They also provide sparkling water for free! Great view outside n chill inside ( good hiding place when summer :) )
A. T.
Tasty seafood chowder but fisherman's basket was average. Chips weren't crispy fresh and piece of fish was small. They do have a lot of indoor seating, a bar and dessert section.
I. G.
Excellent food, great atmosphere and view. Recommended!
R. J.
Great place for fish eaters, all fresh daily. Other food is available as are drinks, alcoholic or otherwise. Best described as a large fish and chip restaurant with plenty of seating and very happy and helpful staff. A must visit place when in Hobart Tasmania.
C. M. S.
The food was excellent but the person serving us was not patient and tried to hurry us in placing our order. The menu is not vast but the food was well presented and amazing.
Pricey as each dish was around 40 but its worth a visit if in Hobart.
S. F.
delicious seafoods with good price and good service
P. S.
Arrived after the advertised time for the breakfast menu but they happily accommodated our order. Enjoyed our breakfast as well!
R. P.
Enjoyed a lovely breakfast and then more people came to join us for lunch. Food was fresh well presented a d tasted great. Very reasonable able pricing too
N. L.
Cheap and cheerful, little tables with outdoor seating as well. Feels like a little seafood dinner where you can have a nice option of fish and chips as well as fresh oysters. The cheapest dozen of oysters you can buy in a restaurant(ish) establishment in Hobart. Definitely worth a visit. They also have little sushi boxes for take away or eat in.
Beware the seagulls - they are right trained menaces.
S. P.
Unbeatable position on the Hobart waterfront. Adequate fish and chips with some good local wines, or just pop in and grab an ice cream and sit outside and watch the harbour activity (weather permitting!)
T. G.
Mures lower deck has some of the best seafood i have ever tasted. The prawns had me returning the next day. A lovely spot and great services. Also enjoyed the ice cream bar afterwards. Prices are average but good seafood is worth paying for.
D. T.
We loved this place. The seafood platter sampler was delicious and such a great place for families and big groups as well. Highly recommended and their icecream were such a treat for us on a warm summers day.
M. C.
Nice place. Great location. Great food. A little too pricey
B. n.
THE BEST oyster in my life. Highly recommended.
It's a seafood dream. Don't miss it.
B. F.
Although the serving size was generous it was loaded more towards chips/fries than actual fish. Can't fault the freshness or quality - it is right on the waterfront after all.
No table service, just those flashing/vibrating discs.
There isn't much to recommend it in terms of ambience so it's not the place to take a date - but for a quick family meal it's fine.
2 people with a main seafood meal only and a cider each = $58.00
C. R.
Coffee is good, nothing magical but great for a fish and chip shop. Fish and chips are large portions and of high quality. Snack size is a main meal elsewhere! Ice creams are also exceptionally large serves, dun place to take kids.
K. T.
Great quality fish and chips with lots of local, fresh catches straight from the docks. Only downside is there are a lot of children around and the downstairs restaurant can become quite loud and busy. Good family vibe though!
C. C.
Beautiful seafood, reasonably priced.
D. J.
Food is nice but bit expensive...small Fish and chips with a salad for $25 is....
F. T.
If you're looking for a convenient, reasonably priced place with a nice view to have decent fish and chips, this place is perfect. The seafood basket was fine, and they had a few types of fish, with the crumbed better than battered. The chips were ok. The downsides were the sauce cost extra and a dozen oysters was expensive ($28), and they didn't taste that great.
F.
Great view, great location. Decent food but overpriced in my opinion.
S. M.
Oh wow, the ice cream here was so good! The staff were also very friendly and the prices were reasonable for the portion size.
The only thing I would advise is not to sit near the door on cold nights as we were getting draughts from the constant movement of people in and out of the restaurant until we moved further inside.
M. H.
A must do when in Hobart. Freshly cooked seafood in a café style eatery. Perfect place for the whole family. Some non seafood menu items. Make sure you leave room for an ice cream. The raspberry sorbet and chocolate ice cream is heavenly.
J. N.
great taste fish and chips for dining in on hobart waterfront, it's crowded with both locals and tourists on weekend evening, and the other corner is also ice cream, drinks, coffee corner. it's place for family, friends, couple happiness. no booking in advance is needed but it's not quite easy to find table and chairs to sit in.
M. L.
Dined at upper deck. Was quite expensive for the portion size. Oysters were great expect one of them had a long hair in it. We had 3 different servers for different things which made for a bit of repetitiveness. Seafood basket was ok. Nice atmosphere and location. Not sure we would done there again.
S. J.
Great service and great food 👌 recommend 😋❤️
M. M.
Nice affordable breakfast and great coffee.
J. M.
The food is much better than the signs out the front suggest. The signs make it feel like it might be a greasy spoon but the breakfast we had was great and the coffee decent.
T.
Excellent customer service.. Nice place to chill.. Have a coffee and snack prior to getting the boat to MONA .. Or just a place to relax
V. Y.
Heaps of seafood, fresh, fried, grilled, chowder. Right in waterfront of Hobart harbor. Great service as well.
W. K.
Delicious seafood
P. [. K.
What this place continues to do well is the best fish and chips in Hobart. The fish is as fresh as possible and well prepared and presented. The chips are cooked to order and one can tell the oil is changed regularly. Service is friendly and professional, all in all a well run restaurant.
N.
Fun atmosphere, great ice cream, lots of energy
D. C.
This is a good place to come for a meal. But don't order calamari rings. They are inconsistent - some are beautifully cooked while others are hard and chewy with that awful stringy bit inside them. We made the store manager aware of this and we were refunded our purchase.
S. S.
Been here many time over the years. Always good food. Clean good staff and clean toilets. Just had fish and chips. They company is try to go more up market, but fish and chips is good
R. M.
Good place for some really good fresh oysters. Reasonably prices compared to other places around. Plenty of parking at the front. Great views. Friendly staff. Highly recommended if you are in Hobart
K.
Husband and I just came back from ice cream shop which was actually delicious but the person who served us had a chip on her shoulder for whatever reason... Laura was either not happy to be there or not happy to be around people. Glared at us to the point my husband was confused and when I got up to help him I got glared at too. Overall Mures is fantastic, food was great, service in the restaurants was perfect but at the ice creamery... I don’t know what happened.
L. M.
Good fresh seafood from own fishing boats. Friendly and quick service. Complimentary self-serve water. South ice cream. Always purchase my seafood at Mures as well. Have never been disappointed.
P. S.
If you are looking for fine dining this is not it, sadly the excellent food is marred by the atmosphere. Dated, clunky furniture (no tablecloths), dull decor and hit and miss staff. Far to big and crowded to be pleasant. Please go back to your beginnings, small and quality. The food is generous in size and delightful but the dubious surroundings make it less so. Our wine did not arrive until the entrees were served and then the bread rolls came after entree too!
L. W.
Great place to relax and have a coffee with your friends or family and a great place to get some nice sea food
E. P.
Very tasty! We had a grilled blue eye with salad and chips. Super flavoured and fresh !
M. A.
Yum..perfect food great service
P.
Best fish and chips in Australia.
M. S.
Great bistro style inexpensive fish / seafood and chips. Save room for the ice cream. It's seriously the largest serve in a cone I've seen. Tip. Ask for it in a cup with a cone on top.... You can't eat it quick enough before it melts 😋😋
S. M.
Good breakfast here. Loved the big open space. Right on the wharf. Service excellent. Biggest range of fresh fish to buy and or eat there. Delicious coffee too.
A. B. B.
If you want a nice and easy casual dinner then this is a great place for it. The fish wrap and fish burger were great. It can be a bit crowded and noisy due to the amount of people.
J. Y.
Fantastically filled with fresh seafood of your choices. A variety of different types of seafood freshly cooked for you. There's also a fanciful ice cream stall comes with so many varieties that spoilt you. Fresh! !!
N. D.
Upon arrival at Mures I was disappointed at having to lineup to order the edible sustenance on offer at this dining establishment. My lovely wife Caroline ordered the $75 half lobster, but was disappointed at being charged an extra $2 for the cocktail seafood sauce. This should almost certainly be complimentary when paying such a premium for the meal.
On the positive side, there was a lovely selection of local beverages on offer, including a divine pear and cherry cider.
However, my wife and I were not impressed by the large number of Asian tourists feeding the seagulls despite signage prohibiting such behaviour/behaviours. Certainly management should renovate the signage on offer to include additional Asian languages. It was most unmannerly to witness.
C. H.
Good local seafood, a bit on the pricey side, but the food is generally cooked quite well. There are other alternatives along the wharf that I normally go to for better value for money. But one big benefit to Mures is that there's LOTS of space to sit, and is great for groups. Relatively quick turn around from ordering to eating, and has the bonus of having an in-house ice cream bar for dessert.
P. A.
Lovely seafood and pretty good service even when busy
B. S.
Dined here for breakfast many mornings last week. The range of choices catered for all tastes and were served promptly by friendly staff. Meals were cooked to perfection and great value for money.
I.
GOOD QUALITY SEAFOOD
Mures offers a high quality service with lots of fish options in a charming environment on the dock. Prices aren't that cheap but the quality makes up for it. It can be very busy - especially when a tour ship docks so book ahead or avoid peak times.
A. X.
Biggest and best ice cream I've had for a long time 👌
J. H.
Good quality and tastyfood without the trashy sauces you find on some restaurant food. When you eat fish it tastes like the fish and not like chicken schnitzel.
H. G.
Premium seafood

Freshly cooked to order fish and chips. Followed by delicious icecream for dessert, so many flavours to choose from! 😋
D. E.
Very family orientated before 730
C. O.
Food is great, many choices, good staff

Room with a view, and easily the best fish and chips in Tassie! We enjoyed a gorgeous lunch with some fab local wine outside...it doesn't get better than that on a beautiful sunny afternoon. Highly recommend.🧡🌞

loved ice cream and surrounds
B. W.
Always a great feed in a very relaxed environment. Easily the freshest produce in Australia!
C. N.
Clean and cheerful. Great food and friendly staff and quick service. We enjoyed the experience.
L. S.
The best place in Hobart for a 'fish' experience. Right on the water - wonderful atmosphere and surrounds. Upper Deck a bit pricey but worth it. Downstairs it's great food at a reasonable price. Always fresh and the staff are efficient and friendly.
C. P.
Bacon and dgg roll, good size for the price. Well prepared.
T. H.
Pretty nice seafood basket, trevally meal & white wine. Batter nicely and variously flavoured but too thick and neutralised the taste of the fish. Everyone has different tastes. Don't forget Mures Fish Shop on the Cambridge Estate for a more delicious do-it-yourself.
S. S.
Best icecream ever! And great fish and chips meals!
But the winter close time is really early ! You should open till 10 specially on the weekend !
N. E.
Great see food selection here and more . I would recommend trying the seafood chowder, it would be one of the best I have every had. It can great busy and waits can be 30mins or so. But can a drink, while you wait it's worth it.
P.
Nice seafood, service good but can be expensive.
H. l.
Best Seafood chowder ever and allot seafood in the soup
J. W.
good view not bad food
T. L.
Not busy, fast ordering but slow receiving of food due to the wrong buzzer being handed out. By the time that discovered that the food had not been collected and tried to find the owner it was below it's best. Not disappointed just fair feedback.
R. F.
A bit overrated. Not as fresh as you might think and with a rather poor selection of fish. Fishmongers used to offer a huge selection, but this was just the usual suspects. I bought what purported to be red snapper, but I am still not convinced... Unless "red" snapper has turned grey in recent years.
J. W.
Fantastic service, beautiful water views and good food.
S.
Freshly cooked to order fish and chips. Followed by delicious icecream for dessert, so many flavours to choose from! 😋
k. f.
Always busy with a great range of ice cream. They've of course got the usual seafood takeaway options or dine in. You can buy fresh seafood to take home too, and it's always of a high standard without outrageous prices.
Interestingly, they have soda water on tap as well as filtered water for dine in customers (or if you cheekily passing through)
Y. C.
Recommend them for their delicious ice creams, but the rest are really overpriced tourist trap food items. Also deducting one star because they're related to the upper deck restaurant which I had an awful encounter with one of their staff. There's better seafood places around.

We tried the seafood platter @$24.95 which had 3 prawns, 3 calamari squid rings, 3 scallops, a fish fillet and chips, all are deep fried, overall it is very dried not really recommended. Mutes provided good customer service, seatings are comfy, and self served free water with three choices of water - sparkling, iced or tap water.

I really enjoyed Mures. The oysters were fabulous, the seafood platter was great and they had very good wine to wash it down. I’m now back in Melbourne after a brief stay in Hobart but still dreaming of being at Mures. I’ll be back very soon

I haven't been to Lower Deck in 3 years. Ordered a seafood basket and was pleased at the generous portions and the freshness of the food. They also have free sparkling mineral water.

Been here before. Still just as good. Beautiful range of seafood, all freshly caught on their own boats. Cleaned, filleted and cooked on their own premises.

Great seafood pasta and good casual outdoor area

Went for breakfast. Good menu choices. Reasonable prices. Good service. Lovely waterfront view, very relaxing. Would definetly go again

One of the best seafood restaurants in Hobart

Good seafood chowder and lots of it. Fish and scallops were very nice.

Good place. Helen had Fish and Chips, I had a Fish Burger made on a Turkish Roll and a pint of Cascade Draught. All good but I caution that the roll would have been Halal Certified and that goes against my beliefs to consume any food where the makers have paid extortion fees. But it was too late and I was too hungry to complain.

Always good food and service, a favourite place to visit. It caters for tourists and locals... Salad range is great to go with your meal. George Mute Pinot Noir is fully recommended if you like a good red.
Fresh fish available if you want to cook your own. Hobart is very lucky.
Icecream bar always a favourite for my family growing up!

We booked in the upstairs restaurant "The Upper Deck", which was necessary even in winter. The unimposing building belies the quality of the upstairs dining experience. Very different from downstairs which is more for a family feed. We managed to secure a window seat overlooking the old harbour buildings.
The staff were really knowledgeable and friendly so much so, I put myself in their hands for wine choice and was not disappointed, enjoying local Riesling wines I would not have considered otherwise.
The food was amazing. I had the fish pie with shell fish that just melted in the mouth all in a wonderful creamy sauce and delicate pastry. Then there was the white chocolate Brûlée with raspberries: forget you waistline, that is a must.
Thanks to Amanda and the team for a fabulous 50th birthday meal.

Awkward service and forgot our entrées. My wife and I ordered a dozen mixed oysters to share as an appetiser, then entrees and mains. We enjoyed our oysters, but they forgot the entrees and bought our mains next after a bit of a wait. The manager offered to comp our entrees if we wanted to still have them after our mains, or to cook the entrees now and redo the mains later. We were hungry so just stuck with the mains in front of us. We decided to share a dessert to finish with, but they still decided to charge us for this.
This could have been handled much better - we're not fussy people but we were expecting better.
We won't be back and we won't recommend.
The dishes that we did have were lovely though, but our dining experience was tainted by average service and a breakdown in communication in the kitchen/floor staff.

We had fish and chips and it was good. Service good. Staff professional. Toilets clean. Wheelchair accessible. Plenty parking. Lovely views. Will visit again

Mures lower deck is more of a cafeteria style eatery with a delicious selection of food and wine. Nice for a casual meal. We also enjoyed the upper deck for a more fine dining experience. Their service and food quality is on point.

Had the fisherman's basket there. Shrimp and scallops were good but the fish were not as fluffy as I would've liked it. Really helpful and friendly staff though so still a good place to gather up with friends.

Fantastic location right on the waterfront. Plenty of fresh fish to choose from and lots of cooked as well. Had a really good old fashioned fish and chips. Always a pleasure to visit.

Good food and good service. Very generous with their icecream sizes

Mures is a Hobart institution and is in a prime location right on the Victoria Dock. The lower deck is very casual - and it's self service. You place your orders at the counter and collect your meals when your buzzer tells you they're ready. The service is extremely fast - our food was ready in minutes! We really enjoyed our fish, chips and salad and having the ice creamery right there was a bonus. They are extremely generous with the serves of ice cream - the Mures' single serve is the same as a double serve from all other ice cream parlours.

Had the most amazing Fish Wrap here today . Soft and tasty

Nice natural oysters and ice cream! Recommend!

Best relaxing ice cream in town......and the Mures Marinade is without equal, still the best, always the best.

Great food and a great spot on the dock

Arrived at the height of the dinner rush, but the friendly staff got our food to us quickly. I had the Fisherman's Basket which was quite good. Almost too much to finish.

Fresh Oysters!!!! Yums!!!!
R. P.
Good location, but overall average food, and the price is a bit high for what it is. Decent option if you want standard fish and chips, and don't mind paying a bit extra for the convenient location.

Delicious! Pizza was scrumptious! Fish and Chips delicious!
J. K.
Food took ages, over 30 minutes because they're very busy. Chips were not good, fish was ok.
R. T.
Delicious seafood chowder. Bistro style restaurant where you have to find your own seat. Unfortunately the only table we could find wasn't clean.

Best Icecream in Hobart. Always nice to visit.

Great place for a quick bite for seafood lovers, check out the ice cream counter for kids and young at heart, lotsa flavours. Seafood was fresh and value for money

Always eat at Mures lower deck for lunch when we visit Hobart. Courteous staff. Clean toilets, Well cooked and presented food. Wouldn't eat anywhere else.

Great place to sit inside or out. Excellent selection of food from fresh oysters, fish and chips, coffee and ice cream. Terrific place for families, caters for all ages.

Great walk along the piers!

Top spot for seafood, great tassie scallops
H. W.
The wedges are so big in portion, fried fish and other seafood are nice and fresh. However, the seafood chowder here is the worst that I have ever tasted. Not much seafood in it, very bland, too creamy. The bread with it is just the dinner roll from Wolly. Wouldn't recommend the chowder. And abit over priced
J. M.
Lovely Tassie fish and chips in a great setting. Friendly and helpful staff. Guessing it gets busy in the summer but chilled out on a midweek lunchtime in early season.
T. H. N.
Food was ok at best, nothing that you cant get from a fish and chips shop. Nice location but prepare to queue up if you dine in peak hours
K. S.
The lower deck staff have alot of attitude. However. When you go upstairs. Wow. You will love the food , the staff, the wine and the view. Please go..
J. O.
We had scallops pie very good.

A childhood favourite which has been delighting seafood lovers for decades. Indoor & outdoor dining options, amongst the picturesque scenery & wharf. After dinner options are available too & equally delicious.
