We had dinner and breakfast here. Both were just ok. It was expensive (as you would expect) but the meals were disappointing. The location and ambiance was great and the staff were great too. I almost went 4 stars because of these factors,but expensive and just ok food brought it down. We wont be dining here again as there are so many better options close by

Brilliant Service! We dined for our 7 year anniversary and Valentines and was met with bubbles and a beautiful window table. The food was wonderfully presented and decent size for price! Beef cheeks and scallops 😋 We shared a mousse and raspberry special for dessert and was attended to politely and just enough to not have to wait for service. We will definitely be back again ! We had dinner and breakfast here at the Old Wharf Restaurant as we stayed one night at the MacQ 01 hotel. The restaurant decor is beautiful, the staff were friendly and offered exceptional service, they went above and beyond. Loved it !!! For dinner we enjoyed the oyster kilpatrick and the fig and prosciutto salad for starters. My daughter loved the salad. For main we had the steak, pork cutlet, scallop pie and macaroni and cheese. All the dishes were outstanding. We did order the carrots side dish that we didn’t enjoy but staff were happy to take this off the bill. My daughter would of preferred more cheese on her macaroni and cheese but still enjoyed it. My son loved his pork cutlet not so much the slaw but we ordered fries for him. My hubby enjoyed his steak it was cooked to perfection ! I had the scallop pie and I loved it... the trick is add more curry sauce to the pie and this made it delicious 😋 Breakfast was great, my hubby and I enjoyed the baked eggs and bagel with salmon and scrambled eggs. The kids had room service as they like to sleep in and enjoyed poached eggs on toast with avocado and the continental breakfast. Best of all coffee was made to perfection. 10/10 for this restaurant!!!

A modern waterfront Aussie restaurant. Atmosphere is great, what we had was Xmas lunch set in 2020 and it's not bad but not much option compared with order what u like you know. I love the atmosphere more than the food.

A nice modern Australian restaurant located on the wharf strip. The views would be nice during the day, it was hard to see anything at night. The ambience and vibe of the restaurant was fine and business like. We thought all the dishes tasted delicious and were of good quality. The carrots dish really surprised us, they were cooked perfectly and the different sauces complemented the ingredient well. Overall the service was not too bad, would recommend a visit!

Staying above for two night. Two mornings of delicious breakfasts, not the usual buffet hotel breakfast but a true cafe culture à la carte experience. A unique way of catering to hotel guests. Couple that with lovely waiters and very good coffee.

Our 12 day tour of Tasmania started with dinner here, and I rebooked when we returned to Hobart. Consistently excellent dinners. When all diners, with varied meal types, say ‘oh my god’, you know it’s a great place. The seafood chowder was worthy of 10 stars, best I’ve had (twice) world wide.

Was a nice place but would say food is overpriced for what it is. Oysters were great and the scallop pie was enjoyable, however the salmon was pretty average. Serving staff were slow and forgetful, had to ask for the wine we ordered after our oysters came and then didn’t top us up, which is fine if the wine was at the table not taken it away. Also forgot some of our additional orders and when we finished our mains she took our desert order but left our plates in front of us, the service was a 3/5

Stayed at Mac 1(amazing). Had the steak for dinner perfectly cooked to medium. Was delicious. Sticky date a unique taste delicious large serving. Avoid the chips nothing special only if you have kids with you-but not required. Had breakfast in the morning fast efficient service great almond latte and the Ziggy streaky bacon was perfect. Service for both dinner and breakfast was top notch couldn't fault.

Terrific spot in the Macq01 Hotel - the Story Hotel. Service was solid and attentive, the setting is lovely overlooking the harbour and water (ask for a window table) and the food is top notch. Not 5 Star dining but not far off it. We were staying in the hotel and we were thrilled with the quality of the menu and the food. Perfect for a business meeting, date or with your loved one/s. We had the whiting (pick of the dishes), the eggplant, shaved broccoli (which comes cold), the steak (perfectly cooked) and a divine dessert. RECOMMENDED.

Very impressed by our breakfast at the Old Wharf… Usually prioritised by hotel guests and then walk-ins, the staff allowed us to pre-book a table on the morning of our wedding. We were greeted by the most friendly staff and brought to a window table with picture perfect views. The staff were attentive and the coffee decent. We went for the full breakfast and it was incredible value. Meats, pastries, cheese and fruit were all served before our main course… So good! I would stay in the hotel on our next visit to Hobart, just based on our experience in the restaurant alone.

If I had to find any criticism at all, it would be that it was a little difficult to hear those seated at the ends of the table. Would highly recommend and happily return if in Hobart.

Dinner tonight was absolutely beautiful. We went with the chef's choice option of 6 savoury dishes. The blue cheese sauce and gnocchi - I wanted more! All six dishes were simply wonderful and well spaced apart to savour each and every dish served. We will definitely be returning!

Ambience: Great water views with a modern and upscale vibe, something that is lacking in this part of the country, when compared to MEL/SYD. Food/Drinks: The cocktail list is fairly limited with only a few options to choose from and none of them blew us away. The mediterranean G&T was overpowered with herbs and made for a sour experience. The food though was above average. The lamb chops were melt-in-your-mouth and the tempura oysters were picks of the night in our opinion. Service: Boy was this such a let down for an upscale establishment. The server dropped food on one of the guests and no apologies or attempts to rectify were made from the staff. Clearly, there was no one managing the floor and the staff was highly untrained. The food arrived out of order and cutlery/crockery was only laid out after the food had arrived. Overall, wouldn't recommend based on the ghastly service, limited beverage options and nothing really stood out.

If you want to treat yourself and or someone special this tasty spot is definitely a must see. Only downside is you can't order meals from the restaurant to eat outside on a nice night, you have to sit inside... On a plus though, you can order nibbles from the bar and enjoy them out on the deck so not all is lost.

Well cooked food, good service. But the value for money is low. Ordered a fisherman’s catch for $100 but got 4 small slices of tuna and a fried flathead fish, the cheapest and most common fish. Not really worth the money. Portions were stingy and small. Not like those in Melbourne restaurants. So not value for money.

Breakfast buffet is reasonably small but still offers good choices along with your choice of a prepared al la carte item which is great. I have eaten Dinner here a couple of times in the past & enjoyed delicious food. Unfortunately this evening I ordered Seafood Linguine, lots of pasta & 6 items of Seafood, 3 mussels, 2 scallops & 1 piece of calamari. The head chef was informed. I was very disappointed as I was so looking forward to a bowl of delicious Tasmanian Sesfood. I did express this to the wait staff & when paying my bill........ they were disappointed to hear this, but that was it! MACq01 is an amazing hotel, with wonderful staff, hopefully I will return another time & perhaps give Old Wharf another try.

Didnt feel bad bringing the kids here as it's not overly fancy pants pretentious - its not a quiet place so you don't feel bad having kids in here. Staff are accomodating too. Very good service, really accommodating. Served us safely with food intolerances. The good - amazing chowder, very competent pork belly, crackling slightly chewy. Main filet steak not cooked to spec but tasty, beef cheek phenomenal. Hit and miss but the good was so good that we will be back! The not so good - overcooked seafood on the starter. Pretty good overall and beautiful views. Lovely ambiance. Would recommend.
