This is my first time visit Suwan Thai, I’m indeed impressed to find this high quality Thai in Tassie. Im a huge fan of pad Thai, had it all the time when I was in Bangkok. The pad Thai of suwan Thai is the first one I have had on this island so far really close to what I had in Thailand. We love the Tom Yam soup too, we cannot stop from drinking that, their chefs are definitely good at seasoning and know well about Thai cuisine. Though the mango sticky rice is quite expensive, $15, the portion is satisfactory. I cannot emphasis enough how surprise am I when I find the sticky rice have the same taste as I had back to Thailand. However, the texture of the rice is a bit too runny, and the mango is too sour (I cannot blame the restaurant on this) in the standard of Thai dessert. Overall, we had a wonderful Thai dinner today, will visit again for sure!

We had dinner at Suwan tonight and it was amazing!! Everything we ordered from the mixed entree to the curry and coconut rice was delicious! I especially loved the Tom Yum soup! One of the best I’ve ever had! Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a good Thai in Hobart!

We don't get to have date nights very often, but when we do this is one of our favourite haunts. The food is always delicious and the wait staff are ultra friendly but give you space to enjoy your meal in quiet. I would recommend the yellow curry, and the coconut rice is the beat i have tasted. Tucked away at the back of an arcade, but don't let that deter you. Best Thai food I've had for ages. Beautiful flavours and fabulous dishes to choose from. Taste was awesome, ample amounts on your plate and wonderful, attentive service from staff. Definitely recommended for anyone who wants a great Thai meal.

A great escape for my friends and I to eat their delicious food especially during lunch hour where the food is cheap (good for your bucks) after window-shopping from Salamanca Market. Lunch hour is from 12pm - 4pm.

Every dish on every visit has always been outstanding at Suwan. Prices are a little bit expensive for regular visits but we try and get back every few months. Green curry, Pad Thai & Pineapple Rice are standouts all of which are better with vegetables than meat offerings I think.

Decoration is elegantly Thai in character but may need an upgrade. We had one soup which is reasonably spicy and good. Meat ( pork ) is wee bit sweet but went well with the fragrant rice. The soft shell crab is too battered. The Pad Thai is a little clumpy but tasty. A place for a change in option.

This place does a killer lunch menu. You won't find better Thai food for this price in Hobart. A bit more ambivalent about the dinner menu though. The price goes up and the dishes seem to focus presentation over taste/quantity. Keep an open mind.

This was a great New Year's Eve experience - service was great for a large group. Every dish that we ordered (e.g., soup, satay, fried rice, noodles, meat, curry, etc.) had all the right flavors from Thailand. The dishes are large enough to be shared. Fantastic Thai restaurant. Staff are always friendly and helpful and it can be possible to get a walk in table, even during busier periods. Food is prepared beautifully and is always to standard. Try the Hor Mok thai hot, but don't blame me the next day!

The positioning on Google maps is fine - Restaurant is on the upper floor at the rear of an arcade. I usually takeaway from the Suwan Thai but have sat down here once. I find the service good and always enjoy the food. They do my signature Thai dish (Yum nua num tok) just fine thanks.

The shrimp in tomyum soup is very fresh, and every bite is refreshing! Padthai is more general, because the noodles seem to be thinner and the taste is a little sweeter.
