Comments of Three Japanese | 63 Degree
H. L.
Tasmania trip (last minute as usual due to ever changing covid restrictions 🤦🤣). Christmas day dinner in Hobart at @threejapanese - great Japanese food! The service was a bit slow, but it was a public holiday, and they did what they could 🙂.
.
Kaki Furai: Deep fried panko oyster with six flavours. We don't normally like raw oysters, but these fried oysters were amazing! Loved all these different flavours!!!
.
Cauliflower karaage: can't go wrong with fried cauliflower 😅.
.
Squid karaage: these squid were very nicely done - super tender!
.
Nasu dengaku: the eggplant flesh was so soft and smooth! Really yummy with the miso sauce on top.
.
Wagyu beef sukiyaki: the wagyu was really nice! Good quality beef. The broth was a bit on the salty side, but the flavour was really delicious! We were seated outside in pretty cool weather, so this hotpot was perfect!
.
Kushiyaki: mushrooms, momo, butabara. Nicely grilled skewers 🤤🤤.
J. F.
Amazing restaurant , food is really tasty and in line with Japanese tradition, the restaurant embrace you with a fully relaxing atmosphere and also a cultural tour from bamboo in the garden ,dishes that let you feel the Japanese colture.Food is presented really well and everything is really tasty and high quality ,and also they really take care of presentation .
Only things that happen was that they were really in short of personal when i was there and some delays and service no was really effective, but this doesn't stop me to give the best rating, probably was only that day i will come back in there , i've already book for new year's eve ,hope this time will be at best .
Highly recommended .
Don't hesitate.
C. P.
Down to earth, honest to goodness flavours. Attention to details for taste and texture. We had the kaki fry and that was crunchy on the outside, moist and juicy on the inside. Chicken kraage was juicy and tender. Sashimi is fresh. Gyu Don, gyutan don, Nikku udon satisfies the belly as well as the soul. Worth getting out of your way for a visit!
R. S.
Service is great! Friendly and very accomodating staff. The food is so delicious! Great value for money. Thank you to our server Bruce! 🙌🏼
T. J.
Great setting with open air area. The food was good, though I felt the waygu burger could have been firmer and held together. It felt like a sloppy joes patty and kept falling apart.
J. B.
Seriously good food here, every dish we ordered exceeded expectations. Well deserving 5 star rating. Service was lovely and this became our favourite meal in Hobart.
L.
Definitely more of a cafe than a restaurant, I would recommend this more for a lunch date than a nice evening out. The food tasted fine, especially the gyoza, but if you have any texture issues with food it might pay to give it a miss. I ordered the gyu don and it tasted fine, but the texture was awful, it was so slimy. I swapped meals with my partner who ordered the teriyaki chicken don which again tasted fine (if a little fishy) but the skin was, which was left on, was slimy. I know this wouldn't be an issue for most people but for me, I just couldn't enjoy it. So something to be mindful of.
S. E.
Friendly staff, quick responsive service and food came really quick for our table of 8. The matcha latte is very milky (not enough powder). Food was decent and tasty but portion for all the food was small - I think 20% more rice will make the difference. The setting was very beautiful and spacious and relaxing. Pricing is very decent.
C. L.
Went to eat dinner here with my partner and we were both pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food was.The cocktails were presented beautifully. We were lucky to also make reservations for the last minutes. Service was of a high standard. Highly recommend!
A. M.
Food and service always amazing. Also a beautiful dining room, serene and cozy. We keep going back because we always know it will be a lovely evening. We often go here for special occasions.
黃.
Food were pretty good. We're very happy with most of them except the wagyu skewer (a bit hard to chew). The staff Sandy was very friendly and smiley as well. It's a A place that We'd like to visit again.
K. B.
Superb. Wonderful, small, tasty menu. Great range of Japanese beer and sake. One of Hobart’s best.
j. j.
If you enjoy authentic Japanese then you should come to this restaurant. You should try the sashimi as they are very fresh and almost melt in you mouth. The Udon is very delicious and the noodles are just right with the tempura. The Wagyu Tataki is very delicious and very enjoyable.
When you arrive need to scan the QR Code and then a staff member will take you to your table. The staff are friendly and will help you with the menu by making suggestions.
w. g.
they said "trust us" when it came to their special omakase menu, and they did not let us down! At $65pp, we were served a total of 9 dishes to share. service was super fast, attentive, and the servers were so lovely and chatty! they definitely make you feel welcomed.
b. c.
The food is amazing and it is a true dining experience. The chef's are super friendly and you can see and feel their passion and love through the food. Can't wait to go back.
Y. E.
What a delicious experience. Great service and staff with attention for detail. The food just amazing and the sashimi is just a dream. We highly recommend the dinner menu to try the best of everything.
K. C.
The food was beautifully presented and we really enjoyed the various dishes to share. Highlights were the sashimi, beef ribs and tempura veggie. The Kimchi buta was also delicious but we were quite full and couldn't finish. Servings were generous.
C. W.
My favourite Japanese restaurant outside of Japan! Very homely feeling with delicious food and a good selection of sake and Japanese beers.
T. H.
Everything soooo good, definitely go for the next time !!! Yummy and staff really nice
C. H.
Been to this cozy and warm restaurant twice, outstanding service, welcoming and lovely staff, delicious food, never lets us down. Highly recommended. Yuzu Sake is a refreshing touch to finish your meal.
C.
Another outstanding Japanese restaurant that has stood the test of time. This is obviously a result of their friendly, welcoming approach and the delicate flavours of their beautifully presented cuisine, which we too experienced during our visit.
P. S.
Hands down my favourite restaurant in Hobart! Every meal is full of flavour and love, have been blown away every time! Highly recommend just ordering a banquet and trying all the best items off the menu.
X. H.
The best quality Japanese food I have ever had in Hobart. Beautiful view and cosy atmosphere. Friendly staff and good service.
l. x.
This evening we enjoyed stunning takeaway for dinner. Reminded us of the best experiences we’ve enjoyed whilst travelling through Japan. Everything was fresh and full of flavour. Really excellent.
L. X.
Me the first-timer experienced a great dinner with my partner. Lovely staffs, like the way they explained the foods. The watermelon sashimi was unexpected! Love it!
P. F.
Fantastic hidden gem! We had an amazing meal and it was so well priced!
D. P.
A delightful little restaurant for date night. Sashimi nicely presented, taste of roasted egg plant delicious. Udon springy and soft
L. P.
Very fresh fish, delicious birthday dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed our takeway with Three Japanese.
R. H.
Serve nice food!💕 I'm so satisfied with the portion and taste. The staff are friendly as well! Will definitely visit there again!
E. N.
Exquisite fine dining experience. Traditional Japanese Menu . Venue was classically set with appropriate tone respectful of Japanese culture.
h. z.
I would give 10 stars. Will definitely come back. Everything we ordered is absolutely delicious. Love the yuzu sake.
L.
I absolutely LOVE this place. Some of the best contemporary Japanese food around nestled in a cozy spot with terrific atmosphere.
M. G.
Stunning food. Highest quality ingredients and lovely service. Got lucky on a night they had a Kingfish collar.
n. s.
Excellent food, excellent array of drinks and excellent service from friendly and attentive staff in a relaxed, casual atmosphere. Well worth a visit.
B. W.
Amazing little homey venue with such tasty food, I wanna come back and eat it all over again! Also really friendly service too!
M.
Sashimi is very fresh. And the rose apple cider is also good. The service is excellent!
M. C.
Yet another awesome business meal. A great venue to bring clients for wonderful food and service, and a good place to chat.
E. H.
Food was good and staff was really friendly and professional. Restaurant was quiet and gave a really nice and personal vibe. Would recommend.
l. l.
It is hard to find an authentic Japanese family restaurant but THREE JAPANESE was exactly what we were looking for. Everything was great and the menu has a huge variety of Japanese food without the pretentiousness. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
J. B.
Thanks for the wonderful delicious food for my birthday dinner. Sashimi was fresh and wagyu beef was nice and juicy!!
S. G.
Really liked the food, good flavours and nice setting. The sake was great, and they managed to squeeze us in on a week night. Not sure if its always busy, but wouldn't hurt to call ahead and book if you want to go.
R. C.
Love this place!! Delicious food, fresh sashimi, friendly staff and quick service!! Highly recommended!!
P. G.
Japanese food, fresh and delicious right, not brimming with freshness or deliciousness. It's because it was just ordinary. The Wagyu on the skewers was tough and under seasoned, (was it Wagyu?) The eel was mushy I suspect frozen and the sukiyaki was brimming with overcooked cabbage and onion and missing fresh ingredients with an over sweet ordinary broth.
It was okay but there are no cigars being passed around.
D. H.
Sashimi is good. But tofu could be better. Good atmosphere, kindly staffs. It's a nice place to have meals.
A. A.
The Japanese omelet was so good
S. W. H.
Food was made with care. Tempura was fried perfectly: crispy, light and not oily. Noodles were chewy and broth was well balanced- not too sweet and not too salty. The rice was good quality rice and steamed properly. Presentation was lovely.
N.
Very hard to fault! This was a fantastic dining experience. The quality was impeccable and the service was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend and am already looking forward to my next visit.
W. L.
Good food, desert is the best. Great variety of items (veg and non-veg) and drinks.. price is reflective of the location and dining experience..
C. S.
A hidden gem. This is a beautiful, peaceful spot, with an interesting & healthy menu. Would highly recommend.
A. W.
The food was tasty and delivery was prompt. Staff very helpful and friendly.

B. J.
Love the entrance to the restaurant. The place really takes you back to Japan especially at a time when we cannot travel.
J. C.
Understaffed 2 on with a full restaurant but the poor girl did an awesome job, staying calm and sweet tempered. Lovely tasting food, chef's sashimi was particularly delicious.
G.
Supurb authentic Japanese food. Great ambiance and friendly service.

M. B.
Fresh & delicious food. Must try oysters.
S. S.
A spectacular return to form. Better than the original Three Japanese, IMO. As a couple we shared eight dishes and each was brilliant. Friendly, personable service, too. It is nice to be able to put this restaurant back on our list of musts.
A. N.
We accidently found this hidden place, love the atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious food, you wont regret it coming to this place.
V. V.
Real Japanese food taste. Recommended! 👍🏻👍🏻
A. B.
This was our second meal at Three Japanese and once again we were impressed with the food and service. We ordered a range of different share plates and they were all spot on and delivered in a timely fashion. The service is outstanding as well. The view from their garden was amazing and full of Japanese touch.
N. K.
We thoroughly enjoyed everything about our visit to By Three Japanese.... Wow!! This was exceptional in every way; food, flavours, variety, service and atmosphere. Highly recommended!
J. M.
So authentic, so simple, so beautiful and so Japanese. What a wonderful experience. Their dishes are absolute first class.
c. g.
Only Japanese restaurants in Battery Point Historic village.
Great atmosphere inside. Owners and staff very helpful.
Great variety of food . No Ramen though.
We ordered some dishes and were all yummy. Potion sizes are a bit too small. And food probably a bit pricey for that matter.
Otherwise great place to take your family and friends to have dinner.
L.
Deeeelicious!! Great service and lovely atmosphere. Try the kingfish please !!
T. H. C.
Very decent food and good atmosphere. We went there with our boy who has food allergies and the waitress was very accommodating, going back and forth to check with the chef to make sure we have something safe for him. All of us enjoyed our meals. Was planning to go back the next evening for dinner but we missed it due to our long road trip. Will definitely going back if we ever visit Hobart again.
T. C.
Authentic very good quality Japanese. Excellent service.
C.
Great hidden gem, food was tasty and service was good.

A. A.
Good food Good Company Good Wine. Thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Wait staff are fantastic and very attentive. The food was so delish we ordered another round. We had a sharing menu so much fun. Could even use chopsticks at the end of it.
K. F.
This is such a gorgeous little place hidden in Battery Point. We had a fantastic dinner there of miso coated Tasmanian salmon, tempura udon broth and teriyaki chicken. Food was great and service delightful.
A. O.
I've never expected l can enjoy such real Japanese in Australia. Apparently everything of their food is handmade from scratch and we can enjoy the great food thanks to their such efforts. Actually it is hard to find such a Japanese restaurant in Australia despite it is one of the keys to good Japanese food (I can imagine it is very difficult to cook all about Japanese food from scratch in other countries, though.) Impressive.
A. B.
Delicious breakfast with good option of Japanese and occidental dishes. Nice environment and music. Friendly staff
J. L.
Decent food. Fair price. Worth trying.
A. C.
Food quality is excellent with affordable price. Although they don’t provide a big menu, every dish we ordered was delicious. Love it and will share to everyone travels to Hobart!
H. M.
It's called Three Japanese but all the staff are Chinese. The food was good though, tastes authentic Japanese. Decor could be better and cleaner.
P. L.
Delightful attentive staff greeted us and made sure we had water while perusing the enticing menu. The owner has a great selection of Organic and Spray Free Local menu Items available and advises which menu items use conventionally produced ingredients. This made our meal selection really easy given the amount of Local, Organic and Spray Free meal choices available. A drinks selection developed with the same care and attention as the Dinner menu.
A Sake was suggested which paired beautifully with my mood and meals.
Even though there was a big family table being served at the same time, our selections arrived at a comfortable pace.
It's only a short walk up Kelly Steps from the Hobart Waterfront to the Three Japanese Charcoal Grill. Well worth a visit for Tasmanian seasonal Organic Japanese.
D. Z.
Service is very attentive and exceptional. The food was fresh and priced reasonably.
We would come here again.
G. B.
Tasty Japanese food. Highly recommended the karaage and the sashimi. The drinks options at good, with a nice selection of sakes.
The location is pretty convenient and the building is simple and beautiful. Service was good, unpretentious, but knowledgeable.

J. C.
Exceptional! I had the Japanese breakfast, it was very fresh and full of flavour. Staff were friendly and warm. The space was simple with great natural light. Can't wait to go back!
M. D.
I hate giving 5. I don't want anyone else to know. But this place is nothing less. Actually, no. I'm gunna change my rating to 1 star. No seriously, do yourself a favour. And get the fried ice cream dessert, too. Wonderful Japanese. 5/5 no problem.
W.
Despite the limited menu, the Udon dish was very tasty. The service was also excellent. Would definitely recommend to anyone travelling to Hobart.
E. C.
A little hidden place with beautiful backyard garden and interesting Japanese decor. Great food and lovely service! Highly recommended!

This is my friend's restaurant. They took over the business in December and the restaurant changed a lot! To be honest, their foods are the best Japanese food in Battery Point. Definitely worth trying :)

Quality food, fresh produce. But it's a pretty stock standard Japanese menu which for a place which is marketing itself on being different (eg no sashimi).

(Translated) I think that it is a delicious one for Chinese food made by Chinese people, but imitation is fake. The photos are rice AUD 4 and beef ginger roasted AUD 24. The taste is strange, but it is strange from the appearance.
