A restaurant that would make the Greek gods proud. We got the banquet and expected tiny meals on big plates. No sir, Zeus wouldn't approve of that! Make sure you starve until your Hercules 6 pack shows before entering. We got the banquet with seafood. Top 3: Service was super friendly and attentive. Dips: must have been made by cupid because I was in love. Prawns: Poseidon was a bit tight by sparring one prawn, but the ouzo sauce the chef makes will rock your boat. Grilled lamb: you know when you're full and everything else is good but you might not finish it? When this comes you'll have to sacrifice some breathing room, shift it into your lungs to make space. By far the best lamb I've had in my life. Highly highly recommend. This place has raised the bar for 5 stars

Celebrated birthday here last night and I have to say, the food was delicious but customer service is exceptional. We had a birthday cake but didn't expect staff to take it out for us and even light up a fireworks style birthday candle without any extra charges. Thanks for going above and beyond for us, will definitely come back :)

Probably one of the best hospitality experiences ever. Warm, friendly staff, amazing food, generous atmosphere. This is is a seven star Greek food experience. And I’ve spent a lot of time in Greece. Have the fava bean dip. It will change your life. Couldn’t fault it. And our beautiful, warm and generous waitress took the experience to a whole new level. This is what Five stars are for. We loved our dinner here! Definitely going for a twist on Greek, don't go expecting super traditional Greek foods, but its utterly delicious. The saganaki cheese was something I'd never tried before, but utterly delicious. Baklava icecream sandwich was also something I'm surprised I haven't seen tried before, was a hit!

Amazing! 💯 will come back for the super tasty lamp steak and try other dishes. My friend is fan of Greek food and she highly recommended this restaurant! We got a mixed grill plate with lamp steaks, chicken, minced lamp, sausages, fish and so on. All in wrap with loads of veggies. We all love the lamp steak!! Moist, tasty, soft, easy to eat!! On the plate they also have potato (with sauce, maybe tomato flavour?), with other two yoghurt sauces. 💥$89 - one plate for two. A lot of meats, more than a portion for two girls. I think this one can even be shared with three girls. 💫 We also got a salad bowl, they have feta cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, onion and so on. The cut bread is quite hard to chew (i would say it hard like rock). But other than the bread, we love this salad. 💥 $17 for one dish. - We also got Summer Light Tasmanian beers, which i say awesomeeee! Light, fruity! 💯 Good service! Staffs introduce us for each of dishes, take care on each table if they finished the dishes, pouring water. If us space if needed. I love the service!! 💫 We gotta book the table before a day to got reserved table. On Friday the restaurant was busy but the food waiting time is real fast, we did not have to wait long time after ordered food.

It has been some time since we have had Greek food this good outside of Greece. A short walk from our hotel on Elizabeth Street the Urban Greek looked to a little out of the way and yet it was really busy inside. And for good reason. All the food was excellent. We had the Minatour banquet for two. And we were stuffed. Happily so. Highly recommended.

I visited Urban Greek a couple of months ago and the food was outstanding and the staff were absolutely amazing. Our lovely waitress was super helpful, polite, friendly and accommodating. My partner and I came here after reading many positive recommendations and it was definitely worth the visit! We ordered the $65 per person Hippocrates set menu which was excellent value. The courses just seemed to keep coming and everything was absolutely delicious! Our drinks were also great, both of us impressed with our colour changing butterfly gin and tonics. Service was above and beyond and atmosphere was upbeat and fun. If you are staying in Hobart, this place is a must-try!

Amazing Greek food done in a fresh modern way. We got the Hippocrates banquet and it was incredible, make sure you’re hungry as it’s a lot of delicious food! In all it was a really nice night out and the service was very prompt.

Intensely flavoursome food that is both filling and immensely satisfying. My table shared an entree of a trio of dips (fava, cretan hommus and tirokafteri) with delicious flatbread, and as a main I ordered the Cretan Style mixed meat (lamb and chicken). Portion sizes were generous and some of our table members were permitted to take leftovers home. The only difficulty we encountered was selecting which dinner items to order, as the menu avoids bloat by only including stellar food choice. Whilst this food could easily have been a highlight, what stood out most to us was the exceptional service. When booking the tables, we notified them of allergies that our group had. The staff serving us had memorised these allergies and always made sure to communicate to us which menu items would be safely edible. My main is usually served with tzatziki and I'm lactose intolerant, so I asked the staff whether I could have another dip with my main. Not only was this request graciously met, but staff gave suggestions in a personable and friendly manner. The environment had an air of ambience to it, with the lighting being enough to provide suitable visibility but dim enough to sustain the cosy atmosphere. Music was played at a comfortable volume so as to not interfere on conversations, and the music selection helped compliment the Greek aesthetic. This aesthetic was achieved through numerous decorative nods to ancient Greek thinkers and warriors. It's cosy and like being spirited away to a warmer part of the world as we feasted like Kings of ancient Greece. Lastly, they followed Covid protocols in a non obtrusive manner, with bookings being given two hour time slots and the tables being spaced a comfortable distance apart. I look forward to visiting Urban Greek again.

Friendly helpful service and helped us avoid over-ordering on our first visit! The food was amazing. Fresh produce made beautifully. Dishes came out one after the other to ensure it came out fresh and was eaten fresh which was greatly appreciated. The bread that came with the dips was warm and scrumptious! The mixed grill was juicy (except the chicken but chicken is always a bit on the drier side) and very balanced with the lemon potatoes and tomatoes. The cheese was delicious and the fig jam really balanced it. The seafood croquettes were delicious but looked a bit over-cooked and could've had more seafood inside. I could taste the octopus but not the prawn.

What an amazing Greek restaurant! The service was impeccable and ambience was cosy but upmarket. We ordered the Hippocrates banquet menu and the food just kept coming. Absolutely amazing food and service by the manager and his crew. Not only did the manager make insightful wine recommendations, but he also generously supplied digestives (Ouzo) and sparkling water. His team were efficient in serving and cleaning the table along the way, without us having to ask for anything. My Greek husband was wow'd with the food and absolutely LOVED the cretan methods used, reminding him of his own time in Greece. Definitely one to visit!

This was my first visit and it won't be my last. It was an excellent set menu. The staff were well trained, experienced, and made the experience complete. Understand this is not a quiet night out. This place was pumping from when I walk in at 6pm and still pumping at 9.30pm. if you haven't been before put it on your list and book. Great dining experience. Friendly attentive staff members. We were looked after Maddie who was excellent and knew to check with other waitstaff and kitchen with our difficult questions re: dietary requirements. This reflects a great workplace environment and good teamwork. Comfortable setting, I liked how there was enough lighting for us to take good photos for the review (important!). We had the Aristotle banquet which was amazing from start to finish we were only dissapointed by the fact we didn’t have enough tummy space to finish when it got to our final course the lamb cutlets and desserts. My least favourite was the filo pastry, the seafood croquette which had caught my attention when ordering turned out average. However again staff were accommodating and allowed us to take away the last meal and considerate enough to allow us to pack the food in the peri COVID-19 environment. I was never a huge fan of greek cuisine prob from previous dining experiences but this has changed my thought on Greek food - best Cretan food experience ever. Happy to recommend and dine again.

Four of us including the little ones, had the Hippocrates banquets which came with beautiful pita and dips as a starters followed with lovely entrees, saganaki cheese, prawn dish, octopus and then lamb/chicken dish. My favourite was the tender octopus and my husband really enjoyed the cheese croquet. Our dinner was highlighted with delicious greek doughnuts which was paid extra, but was totally worth it! We were left very satisfied and happy. I have to say the service was impeccable and the atmosphere was so happy and bright. On Tuesday in Hobart there’s not many places open for dinner, but Urban Greek is open every night and does great food. Serves here are huge, so, be careful not to over order, or cut down on the bread to leave room for the mains. If you make it to dessert you deserve a medal. Food is, as the name implies, Greek, but with a few twists that go beyond the standard fare. Staff here are an absolute delight – extremely friendly, well informed and efficient. The restaurant was packed the night we were here with big family groups, but they coped superbly, even when the eftpos machine went down. They have some interesting drinks, including specialist gin and tonic combinations. A must do on a Hobart visit, and especially early in the week when you are starved for choice.

The food and service here is absolutely sensational! Every element of the seafood platter (for 2) was beautifully cooked... no "filler" items, either. Superb. The mains were equally delicious, including pork skewers (best pork my friend has "ever had"), moussaka (delicious) and lamb cutlets. Very generous portions. The dessert we shared was a cross between baklava and an ice cream sandwich.. Worked well and was a nice way to end the meal. We were well looked after by Vaya..lots of fun and knows the menu inside out. A member of our party had several food intolerances and with a little guidance, found plenty to eat. Special mention for the fantastic gluten free pita bread..I tried a piece and I couldn't tell it was gf at all.

While we were on holidays we were there for dinner.What was eye catching was Urban Greek was family friendly. Why I said that my grand daughter was there who was 2yrs and 6months. My son described it as "where all the pretty ladies are" - which is true, although all the staff are genuinely warm, welcoming and provide fabulous service! Meals are served quickly and staff do a wonderful job explaining details about each dish and tips on eating it. Food is always tasty, portions are generous and perfect for sharing. Refer to food pictures attached (ordered for 3 adults which we struggled to finish!) Food is so good we actually had two additional dishes we ate before we remembered to take pictures. Special thanks to Eleni for organising a high chair and providing crayons and colouring books. Also for indulging my son's request for a cuddle and photo. My Sydney guests couldn't get in last time they came to Hobart but they were very impressed and said it was worth the 2nd trip!!

I might have missed something...🤷🏼 Admittedly I had never been here before so don't know the rules of restaurant but I guess that if there are many (5 adults, 3 kids) people booked in you have to choose a banquet...?🤷🏼 Anyway we weren't allowed to have à la carte. When we arrived they gave one menu to me and then I had to try and describe the options we had to the table. (Is there a COVID rule about only one menu per table?) We were ok to choose a banquet offer but none of it was explained and we were just told we HAD to choose banquet. Thankfully the banquet was ok. Chose the 65 dollar one which initially felt stingey but by the end we were all full / so I guess that's pretty good. Quite salty on the whole. Had to drink a lot of water in the 12 hours following! Would probably not return in a hurry because overall it was awkward and then we all got rushed out before next booking. At least tried though and a lot of other people seem to have positive experiences.

This place is incredible! Food is as good as I had in Greece, and coming from Melbourne, I'm disappointed we don't have even a close equivalent! This is the most memorable restaurant I have ever been to. The atmosphere is immaculate, and the music is subtle yet suitable. The decoration and layout is great and the food was incredible. I spent my 16th birthday there and the staff really made my day. The bartender was passionate and down to earth. The waitress who served me was the best waitress I've ever been served by. The staff were amazing, had complex understanding of the food and were just the most unforgettable service. If you don't go to this restaurant at some point in your life, your existence will never be fulfilled. Also, the bartender makes a MEAN lemon, lime and bitters :))) Edit: I found out from a friend that works there that the friendly waitress that served me is called Anna. We had the pleasure of dining at Urban Greek when we visited Hobart last month. We felt very welcome as soon as we walked through the door. The waitress was attentive and the Manager/Owner offered our 4 year old colouring in book and pencils to keep her occupied. Such a simple gesture, yet we were very appreciative. Our mocktails were delicious and our platter for 2 was scrumptious. Great food, even better service. What more can you ask for?

The only negative I have about this place was some of the portion sizes of the entrees were a little small. However, this issue did not bother me much because all the other factors were amazing! We had strolled along Constitution Dock and Salamanca Market Place checking out the menus at the myriad of restaurants, no problem getting in to any of them. So we reached for the phone and found this delightful little restaurant (Urban Greek) just a five minute walk away. Unfortunately it was full that night, and we needed to book for any other night. The friendly waitress however offered us a space at the 'bar' which we immediately accepted. The waitress attended to a drinks within a couple of minutes and our order. Even though the restaurant was full, our meal arrived in about 10 minutes. The food was amazing. My theory: If a restaurant is this busy and its away from the 'tourist' area then it has to be good! Try it. You won't be disappointed.

Very Disappointed! Maybe i had higher expectations from friends recommendations, but wasn't to excited with my Cretan style charcoal lamb & chicken. The flavours were good, but not great and the lamb and chicken was very dry and average. To be truthful, the take away greek street food in NSW and Victoria is much better. The waitress we had was great, super lovely and very helpful. The other who took payment wasn't interested in hearing feedback but happy to take the payment as quick as possible. Sorry to say, but the most average Greek restaurant i have ever been to across Australia for the 'cost'

But the coffee was devine, and ouzo with cucumber ice cubes very refreshing. Honestly the staff were very friendly and made you feel comfortable. Access is flat, parking is available everywhere. So this venue is fun, light and not very noisy because of the excellent acoustics. The food is well presented and really tasty. The drinks are reflective of the Greek flavours and have a great selection of Tasmanian local wineries as well. Finishing with the great service provided by the staff; they are friendly and professional and seem to genuinely love their jobs which makes for a great dinning experience. My only critique is that the salad that comes with the octopus seems tacked on and not really well thought out. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

The only downside which let a few of the dished down a little (still lovely food) is that the Charcoal grill certainly got that charred flavour into the food but it was missing that luscious smoke flavour. My partner and I were in Hobart on a weekend away. We had visited Mona then I was wanting an amazing foodie experience to enhance and complete our day. We arrived at urban Greek after reading some reviews. Being Greek myself, I am incredibly critical of Greek food, but when looking at the menu and discovering they made a point of describing the type of olive oil used, I was in. I rang and was able to secure a seat at the bar. On our arrival the staff were amazing, helpful and friendly. We were looked after by the owner George, what an incredible guy. A radiologist come restaurateur. I have no doubt, brilliant in both. We were guided by Liam as to what to order, saganaki with fig purée and lemon, followed by char grilled octopus and then a seafood plate, all washed down with a local Riesling. We couldn’t resist then getting a desert. My partner opted for the galaktobourko, and me the chocolate soufflé ( not very Greek). WOW. The galaktbouriko was as good as my dads, if not better. Not as sweet and perfect texture. Then came my soufflé. Words can’t describe where I went while eating it, topped off with what was a mini magnum style ice cream plunged in to the warm soufflé. Thank you George and Liam for one of the best Greek dinners I have had out for a very long time. I highly recommend anyone to put this on their list when visiting Hobart, or for any Greek who wants an amazing Greek food experience that shines away from the typical Greek cuisine. A must do in Hobart.
