One of my fave restaurants to get some extra spicy chicken is Belles. They don’t play around with their spices so be careful if you’re not good with any spiciness at all ‼️ Their wings on the Hot level always hit the spot for me 🔥 Every bite is always packed full of flavors, with the spicy powder hitting the tongue, followed by the crunchy outer layer and then ended with the juiciness of the chicken meat inside 🤤🤤🤤 Not only wings, they also do tenders, drumsticks, sanwiches and decent options for sides too. Go check them out if you haven’t tried them! 😝🔥

It's Belles. The food is f*king amazing as always, service was great except for one tiny hiccup - we had ordered drinks to the table half way through our meal, but they never came - so towards the end of our meal, we had asked the same waitress to have the drinks to go instead which she said would be okay. We ended up finishing our meal without the drinks, and when we went to pay, we found out that the drinks were never put through the system and that it wasn't possible to takeaway the drinks (I think she was new). The only thing which made the review 4* instead of 5 was $21 for a Hot Chicken & Side and came without a dipping sauce. Another $2.50 for sauce. Sorry but that’s just cruel. $6.50 to add a side of chips to a burger is quite dearer and that too will be without a dipping sauce. Again that’s the only disappointing thing!

Hot Fried Chicken was indeed hot. Whilst tender and well fried, I feel like it was lacking something and the spiciness was merely powdered on. That said, perhaps I should have ordered either the fried drumstick or wings and not the chicken tenders. Pickles and fries were good but ranch sauce was somewhat diluted. I’ve heard so much good stuff so I’m hoping I’d enjoy the drums/wings/burger better next time!

Belle's is said to be the go-to for southern fried chicken in Melbourne and they don't disappoint. The chicken was very juicy; I think it uses the same brine as the pickles. Portions are substantial. And service was really really nice. They do different levels of spice and we ordered the Sex Panther and almost fainted. My only complaint is that the sides don't come out even nearly as fresh as the chicken. Our fries was no longer hot and the sweet potato salad was room temperature.

The food was really tasty but there it ended sadly. Our visit was like a tragic comedy. We were promptly seated and our order taken. So far so good. Our drinks came out quickly. After exactly an hour we signalled the waitress over to ask about the food. Apparently the order never got into the kitchen. We were offered a round of free drinks but needed to drive so that wasn't happening. We were given a complimentary side of coleslaw. I ordered the really hot tenders with chips and my friend ordered hot with mac and cheese. They came out the wrong way so after blowing his mind we swapped chicken. While the staff were apologetic and offered the free round I feel it would have been better to discount the existing items but that wasn't offered. It's a pity because the place has a nice atmosphere of a classic American diner. There are toilets for staff. Stairs just inside the door mean it's not accessible. #letsguide

Ordered the bucket of wings and it was 10/10 amazing. You get to choose your spice levels and take them literally - because anything spicier than HOT is really hot (unless your tolerance for spice is really high). The sides that came along were really good as well; try the mac & cheese if you can! Belle's are the clear leader when it comes to fried chicken in Melbourne - it's often the first place people think of when they want fried chicken in Melbourne. The chicken itself is crunchy on the outside, juicy and moist on the inside. Flavourful and tender. Sides are good. I enjoyed the mac n cheese and the crinkle cut fries. On the pricier end of fried chicken, it is worth it for a sometimes treat. I once got the fried chicken sandwich to take away, it was pretty spectacular - and humongous. It's my personal highlight and the item that I would go to again and again (and again). Clean premises, modern fit out, good customer service. Definitely worth a visit, in fact it's definitely worth multiple visits.

As their name suggests, it’s hot chicken! I got the medium chicken sandwich, which was plenty hot for me. For $13, the piece of chicken in there was huge, and the coating was delicious, incredibly crunchy, they use thigh instead of breast, I’m guessing because it’ll make a juicer burger, the pickles are placed on the side, which gives the eater the option. The sides were delicious, the Mac and cheese was more creamy than cheesy, I liked it as different option to fries. Place was packed for a weekday lunch, but food didn’t take long to come out, so there was no wait for a table. Apart from my friend never receiving her drink, it was great and would go back again!

I love the set up of this store! Think retro diner vibes. The staff here are really friendly as with the fitzroy store. Food and drink were consistent as well. I was disappointed the yam salad wasn’t on the menu as it’s my go to. I opted for slaw instead which was alright. Chicken was juicy and seasoned well as expected. Definitely quieter than the fitzroy store so may be a good choice if you want to have a quieter meal.

What can I say about Belles? The chicken is delicious, not over cooked, succulent and well crumbed. There's a six level hot sauce choice, I recommend starting with "Hot" and going from there and if you can handle the hottest I take my hat off to you cause... damn. Its HOT. Like... HOT!! The drinks menu is great to with all the wines being organic and incredibly tasty! The orange wines are a bit different and definitely worth a try!

Waitress was very helpful with what i should order dependant on my hot level tolerance and with just an order of a hot chicken slider I didn't have to wait long. This was such a fun experience. The chicken is very true to the Nashville hot style, and this comes from someone who has visited Hattie B's in Nashville and knows what Nashville Hot Chicken should be. The hot is comfortably hot. It'll make your nose run, but it's a good heat. The really hot is uncomfortably hot but still very tasty. I want to try really f***ing hot and sexy panther just to see how hot they are. Beware the next day. But it's totally worth it.

Come for the food stay for the service. Belles food is by far the best chicken you can get in Melbourne & VIC. The flavours and quality of the food is next level, not to mention delish beers and cocktails. The venue itself has excellent tunes that go well with the vibe of the place and the food. As for the staff, very hard working, friendly and attentive, had a recent experience that was 99% perfect but they (Michael) went wayyyy above & beyond to add that extra 1% to make it perfect. Yeah, the chicken is awesome, the sides paired perfectly, but you need to muscle up and try the Sex Panther on a tenderloin. Normally I go to the one in Fitzroy, glad now they are in the city close to my work. I love fried chicken so much and this is where I go when I was craving an American style fried chicken. Service was friendly and helpful. The menu is a bit hard to understand with sides being $6 each but for some reason they listed $1 at the top. The lady helped clear it up for us. First, definitely recommend the wings over the tenders at belles just because they are soo juicy and nice. Second, came in quite late in the dinner shift so although our sides were wrong, the correct order came out straight away afterwards and there was no extra charge! Have been wanting to check out this place when I spotted it at Fitzroy and was thrilled there's one at the CBD too! Chicken was spicier than anticipated (even though I'd say I can tolerate spice), so I think medium is a good level for some kick. Any higher than that and it may not be a good way to enjoy the juicy chicken. I recommend the chicken sandwich, it was the best dish of the night we think. Belles do superb chicken and this location is no exception. Be mindful of peak times as it is super popular and there will be a queue for a table. My favorites include the chicken sandwich or the wings cooked to your choice of heat. Paired with pickles, fries and beer it will hit the spot. The service is OK. Prompt. We had a mix up with our meals which was easily rectified but the waiter who brought it out didn't seem bothered by it. He didn't apologise and just thought we could figure it out ourselves...... The chicken is great but the optional free sides that come with it aren't the best. The flesh was sort of too wet and "steamy" and there was evident chicken skin, which was not appetising. The wings were insanely hot, as the spice level suggested. They weren't the hottest thing I've ever eaten, but they were extremely hot for an everyday dish. They were quite good. The yam salad was amazing. It was apparently just sweet potato with chives, but however they seasoned and spiced it, I need the recipe. The bean salad and coleslaw were not exactly groundbreaking or exceptional and the fries were (as evident from the bags near the fryers) just chips outta a bag. For all these reasons, the food itself was a bit overpriced. If the fried chicken is to be the centerpiece here, it should be better than it is. This is not a reflection on the staff, who, as already confirmed, are amazing. Might try again if required.

The southern and medium levels are perfect for spicy newbies but the hot and up are bang for your buck if you're chasing a mouth tickler that perfectly compliments their super juicy chicken. I've been visiting Belle's for a long time and this was my first time at their Elizabeth Street store.
