The experience of dinner in LAURUS is absolutely amazing. The quails are tender and flavorful , the signature steak too delicious. The steak was cooked the perfect medium rare and the taste of one bite made me wonder about the secret sauce. Great service from friendly staff as well. We would love to come back.😊🙌

We love the XO octopus noodles and the duck at Laurus. Duck is tender and full of flavour. Wine by the glass are very reasonable too. The location is a bit tricky to find. Just head up the stairs and turn right. Definitely a great option for a good night out.

My partner and I had a beautiful dinner at Laurus. Amazing vegan options, huge range of alcoholic and 0% drinks. We love that they cater for everyone and provide excellent service. We can’t wait to go back with friends. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an exciting Chinese Fusion experience.

Walking in we were greeted with a beautiful entrance with exceptional decor. We ordered the Tasting Menu ($78pp) with the Dessert Tasting Plate and added on the Laurus Fried Chicken. The food was very standard, the Soybean Cake Daikon wasn't even warm. Their famous Char Grilled Octopus Chow Mein, House XO was a let down, the dish had no wow factor and tasted like it was made earlier in the day. We did however really enjoy the Crispy eggplant and the Red Bean Ice cream. The service, ambience and atmosphere was great however for the amount of $$ we spent - the food did not deliver.

Modern decor with plenty open space, the place is GORGEOUS! we were taken care of throughout the night, service was 10/10, attentive and non-intrusive. we started the night with the red clover & ginger and mango spritz. highly recommend the spritz, unique and citrus flavour, very refreshing, would pair well with most dishes. we ordered the liver parfait, eggplant, octopus chow mein, beef rib, squid ink fried rice. I would highly recommend ordering the eggplant, so crispy and juicy, covered in this AMAZING sweet and sour glaze, we had to order it twice haha. another one that hits home is the squid ink fried rice, such a party in my mouth. however the chow mein could been more saucier, but we heard they are going to change the recipe soon, looking forward to that. very unique and bold play with the dessert. some of the most interesting flavour combinations I've tried! overall the experience was amazing, great place for catching up with friends and explore unique tastes.

A modern stylish Asian fusion restaurant. With experienced and friendly staffs. Food style is designed creatively and taste great but quality control isn’t satisfied. Two dishes have been over cooked. Must try: Beef tartare, Stuffed Miao Jim Worth a try.

Been here a couple of times and enjoyed everything! The soy glazed beef rib is flawless, tender and tasty. The dry aged duck, XO octopus chow mein, chicken spare ribs and squid ink fried rice are also a must. The dessert tasting board allows you to enjoy all of their unique flavour combinations.

If you're a foodie that love to explore new food , you must try this new joint. Oysters and King fish is the bomb 💯👌🔥 even my fussy man love it too.. everything was delicious, just hope that the hawthorn sauce not too thick and a bit sweet maybe better 😉 other than that, duck was cooked to perfection and the service was super friendly 👌 definitely come back next time 😊

ORDERED: 🍽️ Lauru's Tasting Menu: house spiced pickles, chicken liver parfait, beef tartare, kingfish, crispy eggplant, char grilled octopus, soy glazed beef rib, chilled wombok, red bean icecream ($78.00pp) REVIEW: Feel like a lot of the dishes were beautifully presented, but lacked depth. Unsure if it's because I'm not used to modernising cantonese flavours, but separately, the soy glazed beef rib didn't have much flavour and the chilled wombok was incredibly overpowering. You have to eat together in order to get the ideal balance. The "star" of the dish, the char grilled octopus noodles, had perfectly al dente noodles with that iconic bite. But the oil overpowered any of the flavour that was meant to be there. It was an average experience that was uplifted by the gorgeous interior and the friendly service. Wished the dishes had slightly more generous portions, and a more memorable flavour.

We had the tasting menu experience at Laurus with matched wines and it was a great experience overall. We each started off with a signature cocktail. I had the red clover and mango spritz. Very refreshing! The evening started off with a trio of appetisers. The tartare and house made pickles were very good and made us want more. Next up, the kingfish was super fresh and expertly done. Our fave of the evening was the octopus chow mein and the fried eggplant. These did not last long on the table! The final main was the fall off the bone beef rib and some veg. We were super full at this point and our dessert - red bean ice cream was a great light end to the meal. The dessert wine was also amazing! Service was attentive and the staff kept checking we were ready for the next wine and course.

the food was fine, the service is odd. we arrived at 5pm and have been told there were only limited menu available which is totally fine. we order a drink (from qr code) they said they don't have that one, we asked if they can make us whatever available, they said we have to order online,,, but hang on, surely that is back of house's job to sort it out. we are about to order dessert which i saw from the menu earlier however the qr code no longer working and their explaination was because that menu is only work until 6pm (it was 6.05 when i asked for dessert) i feel like this type of service doesn't really justify us coming back for it. by the way the restaurant were empty we are the only customers so that is why i think the service doesn't add up for this type of place claimed to be a fine dining, the service need to be a bit more attentive.

Spontaneously decided to try this place and it was just lovely! The food was delicious, and the wait staff very friendly. We tried the kingfish, XO noodles and fried eggplant dish. Interesting fusion of Western and modern Southern Chinese cuisine. Pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem of a restaurant!

Delicious! This was our second meal here and Laurus delivered a delicious meal and excellent service both times around. The decor is stylish and intimate for two, with larger tables suitable for groups. The kingfish sashimi was melt in the mouth! Everything was cooked to perfection and the desserts were delicious also. The maitre'd was friendly and excellent at recommending wines to match our dishes.

Most authentic Southern Chinese cuisine in Melb city so far. Tried the Twilight Menu with my friends and they enjoy every single dish, esp the Crispy Eggplant, Char Siu Chow Mein and the fried chicken! My friend also got the LAURUS Jin, which I believe has won some award introduced by the staff there. Good combination of food and wine! The staffs there are quite attentive and will keep checking in if we need any assistance. Overall the experience is very nice, not to mention the classy fitting which is perfect for the pics!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here tonight. The food was tasty, and we had perfect portions to have room for dessert. I recommend the Kingfish sashimi, Beef Rib, and Chow mein. The service was great, especially from our waiter, Mehul. The ambience was lovely; it reminded me of a hotel lounge. The only downside was that it was a bit pricey, and signage wasn't great, so it was a bit hard to find.
