Upmarket vibes As we walked up to Cicciolina I noticed a famous rapper from shepparton eating out the front. Good signs from the get go. We entered to a warmly lit area with some interesting artwork and a cosy feel. First was 2 espresso Martinis which impressed us with quantity, the quality was on par. We started with the foccacia which had Gorgonzola and anchovy. It was amazing. Followed by the beef tartare which was a treat. Mains were 2 pastas and chips. I ordered the chips as I'm wary in nicer places that mains are generally smaller but these were proper servings which I enjoyed. My ragu pasta did no disappoint and the Mrs loved hers swimmer crab pasta. The only constructive things I would add is that the hot chips could have been cooked a little longer until more crunchy and my swivel chair needed some wd40. It squeaked whenever I turned. But let's be honest you don't go out for a nice dinner for the hot chips. Great meal overall but a bit expensive to have regularly. Expect to spend close to 200 for all that and a couple drinks. Good spot for a special occasion. Will be back.

Love this place. A great pop in place before dinner at Cicciolinas or for a drink and nibbles, there is a great selection of share plates (the meatballs are amazing). They also have Bog and beer nights (bolognese and beer or wine). The staff are always friendly and you can choose from the main menu if you desire. Love the atmosphere. It’s easy to find, down the lane way behind the restaurant.

Before COVID hit last year, I had the intention of dining at the famous Cicciolina in Acland Street. Sadly no. BUT...Great things come to those who wait! After my first day of employment after two years, I treated myself to lunch here. A stalwart of St Kilda since 1993, booking is recommended in these post-COVID times, but if you are lucky, like me, walk-in seats might be available. Bookings can be made via their website and are the preferred method. There is a lovely picket-fenced area outside or the moody, intimate indoor tables or private back area that seats 10-20 people to choose from. Their menu offers modern and traditional Italian fare, using seasonal produce with V/GF options available. The servings are generous, tasty and prepared/cooked with passion and care. The prices are medium-high, but you get what you pay for - no issues here. They have a superb, renowned wine list, and the bar allows for the consumption of many cocktails and bar food. Recommendations: [Only had entrees today - gives me an excuse to return for the mains and desserts - which looked amazing too!] Cicc bread and butter (serves 2) $5 - still warm and crunchy, but oh so soft inside! Tuna carpaccio, watercress, lime, baby capers, chargrilled sourdough $28.50 - melt in your mouth tuna. Be sure to eat a bit of everything together, and the pairing of these items will make sense! Suggested accompaniment: Da Luca Prosecco DOC NV Veneto Italy $14 a glass - smooth, not acidic - divine [I had two glasses, but would have preferred a bottle]. Fritto misto – soft shell crab, calamari, zucchini, orange, green chilli, aioli (GF) - this was a 'special'. A large serve, best shared. An interesting selection of flavour profiles, which will delight your tastebuds. These are hard-working restaurateurs, chefs and wait staff. There is limited time for chit-chat as they are so busy, whether it be their lunch or dinner sittings. They are also sincere and caring individuals who kept my computer glasses safe and sound after leaving them behind. Bless, and thank you. I look forward to visiting again to complete my menu exploration.

I have always loved Cicciolina, first visit there since lockdown and I was surprised that it had changed so so much, the menu was lacking all those mouth watering options pre covid and I found myself searching for something to be excited about, there were no dinner specials exceptionally scribed on the blackboard, there were however a couple of cocktails. I ended up choosing the crab soufflé entree and the barramundi for main. Both were exceptional, however no bread served ! No bread?! This signature staple that has always been part of the experience is no longer - you can now order it for $5, that is is they have any, on this occasion they only had frozen that needed to thaw out, I declined and a spoon had to suffice to enjoy the delicious velouté sauce from the soufflé instead of sopping it up with that delicious crusty white bread that we all know and love, the staff as always were warm, friendly and attentive. I really hope that they digress back to the way things were and 5 stars are again the norm for this st kilda icon. I’ll be back !

This is a generous 3 star. Based on a love of this Restaurant for over 20 years. We really do love this place. But. Food and service is great. Prices have jumped considerably though. With that jump in price, I've got to say "on line menus" are not doing it for me. If I spend $300 for a casual lunch, I expect a menu in my hand, "online"is not where it at, and not to pay $5 for a couple of slices of bread. Don't be stingy Cicciolina.

My favourite restaurant in the whole world. Honestly I have travelled all over this planet and this is still my favourite. I remember my first time in Italy, sitting at a beautiful local ristorante in Venice saying to my partner, it is very good, but is it as good as Cicciolina? :P The blue swimmer crab soufle... still blows me away every time. Man, even the steak sandwich for lunch. We moved north of the river years ago, but no journey south is complete without stopping here. The food is always spectacular and the atmosphere is second to none but it is the staff that really shine; Rosie, David, the whole gang, we love you. Cant wait to be back soon.

Love everything about Cicciolina! My partner and I both opted to try the pasta, he had the meatball ragu and I had the orecchiette. Both were super tasty and tasted authentically Italian. Service is great too, staff are very friendly, hospitable and efficient. It's lovely sitting outside in the heart of St Kilda on a hot summer's evening. This is a long established italian restaurant in the middle of Acland Street in St Kilda. It has a well thought out menu of entrees, pasta and Secondi dishes that should please most people. Very good service in a bistro type of atmosphere. It is a highlight of the Melbourne food scene. Highly recommend.

Went for dinner here on Sunday night. Best decision. Lovely cosy little place with a limited but amazing menu. We had the specials with the crab as well as the duck. All loved it, the flavours were just spot on, quantity and freshness was perfection. What made it even better were the staff, hilarious as hell who would join in friendly banter - just the right amount, not intrusive but makes your experience worthwhile. What a fantastic experience. We were unable to book for a Friday night but drove in early from the Yarra Valley anyway. When we arrived there was a long wait for a table and this was handled beautifully offering us a seat at the bar before dinner. Although there was a 2 hour wait we were escorted to our table after an hour. Our waitress was incredible. Great personality and nothing was a problem. The food was nicely presented and was well seasoned Hooray!!! A restaurant that is not scared of salt and pepper. Thank you for an incredible night. You deserve all the great reviews and we look forward to returning for another feed.

This review could be split into the front restaurant and the back bar. The back bar has great atmosphere, great staff, and great food. I'd go back there once a week if I lived in the neighborhood. Which makes the mystery as to why everything in the front section and on to the outdoor seating is so below average, so perplexing. Bland food, no atmosphere, curt staff. Skip the front, go down the alley and straight to the back.

I have eaten here regularly over the past few years, its got a good reputation and I have had some good meals here. But mostly the food is just a bit better than average, definitely nothing special, but I persist still wanting to be "wowed". The service is fine, I think it really depends on which waiter you get. My main complaint would be having to pay for Olive Oil, come on, really, $3.50 for 30ml of olive oil to have with some bread. I wont be going back.

She was very pushy in getting a friend who arrived late to order a drink and then outright offensive when we provided suggestions on what should be done to sort out the issue she was facing with the EFTPOS machine. We ate here before going to see the penguins at the St. Kilda pier. We had to go outside to another door to wait at the bar for a table to open up (about 15 minutes). It was a bit pricey, but the food was delicious. I had beef lasagna, and my gluten-free companion had risotto with pulled lamb in it. I don't remember what our other diner ordered, but we all loved our choices. They had rice pudding and the profiterole with ice cream for dessert. Everything, including after-dinner coffee and a pre-dinner latte and glass of house wine totaled $145. Not bad for three meals of that quality. The staff and service were excellent. My only disappointment was that the bathroom was accessed by a door in the back of the building off the parking lot and required a passcode. I decided to wait till later.

Perfect texture - fluffy and not dense, right degree of sweetness; the golden butterscotch sauce had a delightfully light consistency, and the vanilla parfait was aromatic and oh so yummy!
