The staff at Crossways are particularly friendly and accommodating and service is very fast. You can purchase take away or you can eat there and consume as many servings of main course, dessert & beverages as you desire for just $9.50 (or $7.50 if you have a concession card) regardless. The Hare Krishna food meets various food groups & dietary requirements/preferences, making it accessible and healthy to various individuals. The main course and some deserts are vegan and overall, the menu is vegetarian. The curries are generally mildly spicy and flavoursome and there are a great deal of vegetables and very often some tofu and legumes. The menu includes rice, papadums 2 curries, fruit halava, orange cordial, lassi & water. There is a set menu for every day of the week. I am personally very glad that Crossways has re-opened and I believe the food is delicious and a good staple. I pay Crossways a visit on most days I’m in the city and it is my favourite restaurant of all time! I would recommend Crossways, particularly for people who like curries, have specific dietary preferences &/ have large appetites.

Healthy and tasty food…Best deal in town! $7.50 for students and others $9.50 all you can eat vegetarian/vegan Indian food that includes main entrée, side, dessert, and drink! Menu changes every day and at lunch/dinner to offer lots of variety. I love what Hare Krishna is doing for the community. I definitely recommend this place to everyone, can’t wait to visit again 😊
L. T.
Best vegan food I've had in awhile. The people are great too ☺️
J. S.
Absolutely stunning! 9,50$ for all you can eat vegan currys with different things on the menu every day. Will visit again, best budget meal you can get
S. G.
absolutely brilliant place! not only is the food delicious and cheap, but the staff there are so nice. i got served by Sumanth who was so lovely and kind. so going back whenever i’m near!! 100% recommend <3

Tasty and tremendous vegan food at affordable price, what more could I say.
The thai green curry and rajma masala curry was my favourite because they arent heavy like the general thai curry that is loaded with coconut milk but you could taste the distinct thai green curry and rajma masala isnt spicy and salty.

Sometimes you want to eat healthy but tasty food and a lot of food, and don't want to spend a lot of money on it, places with all of these filters on are really hard to find, This one is one of those places. The food is very simple, it's healthy, tastes really really good and doesn't take much out of your pocket.
They have different types of curries for each day which are served with rice and papodums. The flavor of the curry is always amazing. I always end up wanting more and more of it. The good thing is you can have as much as you want.
But the best part is the custard and raisin halava. If you like sweets you will fall in love with it. It is the Best. When you take a bit with custard and Halava on your spoons it just melts in your mouth and creates such a soothing feeling for your taste buds that they want more and more of it. I always have to resist myself to stop eating it. The Vibe of this place is always happy and calming. I think if you are in the city and want to try something cheap and good, this is the best place to go.

Growing up in a traditional family in Southern Part of India, food like this was always part of my life. The very first time when I visited the restaurant with my friends, they were more excited than I was. The very first thing you need to notice is that this place is more like an ootupura(dining hall) at a temple. There are certain believes and values this place withhold and the patrons are expected to keep up with that. A strict no to the Non-vegetarian food. The ambiance is just average, the staff are incredibly courteous and kind, the pricing is amazing considering you get to have as much rice and curry as you need.
Looking at the food, the taste is average. Of course, it is of homecooked quality and one of the best vegan options in the city. I know vegetarians who are concerned to eat from outside (it is an obvious fact that the vegetarians would never prefer a spoon/utensils used by non-vegetarians). This place is a great option for such people. The students get a discount by showing the student ID. For me, the best part of the meal was dessert. The Lassi they serve is, well I can't call it as Lassi. It was very watery and I had to stop it at the first sip. I know this review may attract some negative comments but, this is my personal opinion. Overall, if you ever miss your home and craving for some Indian food at an affordable price then just give them a try.
PS: You also get to ring a bell once you are done with the meal.

VEGAN ❤️
Just excellent, i recommend so much this buffet ! For only 9$ you have a plate with Rice Curry and 2 flat breads, and the dessert is a cake (with vanilla cream if you are only vegetarian).
Moreover, if you are always hungry, you can ask for a second plate for free ! 😊🙏🏼
A. K.
All you can eat! Hearty food 9.50 for endless portions, a pudding and a drink. Will I return? Oh yas!
H. C.
Chickpea and spinach curry on a wed afternoon. No frills vegetarian curry shop. You come here for the cheap and delicious food especially good for budget vegan/vegetarian finding food options. Recommend to try at least once for those who are adventurous
M. K.
Best deal in town! $5.95-$7.95 all you can eat vegetarian/vegan Indian food that includes main entrée, side, dessert, and drink! Menu changes every day and at lunch/dinner to offer lots of variety. Food was excellent, restaurant clean, and it's a non profit organization! "Wow!!!" Is all I have to say about Crossways!

Didn't expect to stumble into this cozy venue after getting a haircut! I was surprised to find out that it was only $8.95 for a meal. Its setup reminded me of a high school canteen. I went on Tuesday so they served "Red Kidney Beans, Brown Rice, Peach Halva & Custard". Considering the price, portion was definitely generous - you can have as much rice and curry as you want! I also really enjoyed this relaxed communal ambience of the venue.
In terms of taste, it was slightly bland in comparison to other curries I had before. But it wasn't that bad since I could taste freshness of the ingredients - tasted healthy as if they were all homemade. Not to mention, Indian custard dessert was surprisingly flavourful! Overall, it was a simple but delicious hearty meal. I'd visit whenever I crave something healthy and affordable in the city :)

One of the good place to eat Indian vegetarian meal. The place is situated at first floor and is very neat and tidy. All you can eat is offered in approximately $ 8 ( lower prices for students and adults). It is not proper restaurant and they offer only one dish ( of course changing everyday) with rice followed by sweet dish. Two types of drinks are available. The persons serving here are really nice and friendly. I will recommend this place.
F. C.
Awesome place, awesome price and awesome food! Love what this place is doing for the community. Can't wait to come back and try all the other menu options!
A. S.
One of the best vegan restaurant in the city as they serve delicious all you can eat menu for less than 10 bucks and on that too they give concession to students.
I.
GREAT LOW COST OPTION FOR HEALTHY VEGETARIAN MEALS
There is nothing fancy about Crossways but that just adds to its street cred!
No-frills setup which is more like a school canteen than a restaurant but you get an "all you can eat" offering of healthy Indian-influenced vegetarian meals (for just $8 if you are a student).
Friendly staff.
People with mobility issues - you need to negotiate a flight of stairs to the first floor dining hall.
L. L.
$6.95 for students, everyday's menu is different, curry rice, dessert and drink, cheap india vegetarian restaurant. Upstair 2nd floor is good place for eat alone.
A.
Absolutely incredible jaffles - the Mac and cheese with pepperoni blew my mind! The world needs more tiny window stores with beautiful food like this!
P. L.
Absolutely delish, friendly staff/ owners, extremely clean restaurant & such great value
N. M. M.
This is what I got today for lunch! It was really Good and cheap. Vegetarian Thai 🍛 with Jasmine 🍚 rice. Pineapple 🍍 halava and Custard. Good experience and totally recommended. I rang the 🔔 bell at the end because The food was delicious!
P. G.
Cheap and tasty meals and a classic dessert that reminds me of being a child growing up in the U.K. I always stop here when in the city and need something cheap and healthy to eat. Atmosphere is relaxed and inviting with videos of spiritual leaders and documentaries on the tv in the eating area.
D. H.
Incredible food, generous serving sizes and whopping good value. This place is a stunner!
P. L.
Best price for hunger for all you can eat under $10 (6.95 for students). The menu is changed everyday. They are generous and very happy to service. The place is clean as well.
J. C.
Come here for brand opening. Nice space, friendly people, delicious food. Couldn’t recommend more!
j.
Student only 6.95 with all you can eat curry meal! Love this place and didn’t know they have moved to new place went to the old one lucky I found it again! Everyday with different curry and rice with the drinks and dessert, really live this place!

Yummy meal, very filling. I loved the semolina pudding. The price is great, with free refills (I got more dessert).

Look no further! Flavor-rich all-you-can-eat dishes. The menu changes every day, so make sure to drop by and check it out.

100/10
The best place to eat. The food is quite delicious and the staff is pretty kind. Totally recommended.👍👍👍

Let me preface this by saying this review is for the coffee only.
I've been here a few times and the wait staff in general are quite pleasant, but it's the coffee in particular that's fantastic, in particular from a Barista in the store, I think her name was Min, I'm not 100% sure.
The taste and the quality of presentation was excellent, as was the very friendly service that I always receive from her.
Highly recommend this place for the coffee :)
H. S.
Humble staff. Unlimited food , low price, tasty food and calm environment.
Love every life and live veggie

Been coming here for over 5 years now, and enjoyed every meal I've eaten! Their conjoined Urban Yoga studio upstairs was terrific. For 6 months or so I enjoyed a complimentary meal with every class. Beautiful place to sit and read a book, have had great conversations with others. Very grateful for the animal and environmentally friendly lunches (ask for the vegan desert). Those who cook and serve at the counter are always kind and generous. Thank you, Crossways.
J. K.
good meal and service for reasonable price
J. W.
Absolutely amazing little find! The food was incredible, the staff were lovely and you can’t beat the value for money! We had 2 servings of delicious curry’s with rice and poppadoms, followed by dessert! All of the main courses were vegan and, although the main dessert was vegetarian, they also had a vegan alternative (apple crumble for us!) which was delicious. Highly recommend for anyone looking for delicious and great value vegan or vegetarian food in the city centre!
J. H.
Free tea or coffee at breakfast. Latte very good. My eggs Benedict were perfect. Great little find. Very friendly staff.
J. R.
Really great meal for such an unbelievable price. Will probably eat here every day!
J. B.
Very cheap and good vegan food. The desert was amazing!
S. M.
Best way to spend $8.95, food was really tasty and not greasy! When we went they were serving two different curries and rice with popadums which was all vegan and two different dessert options, one vegan apple crumble and a vegetarian sponge with custard. Staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming and didn't mind us going up for seconds as it was irresistible.
Would 100% recommend and will definitely return!
L. S.
very friendly, welcoming people, with tasty, fulfilling food!
P.
I enjoy the music, in a peaceful environment, while eating a delicious home made healthy vegetarian meal. Do not skip the dessert 👌🏻
C. L.
Excellent food, piping hot but mildly spicy, large portion plus extras if you want. Laid back no rush meal in the middle of the city for $8.95. Brilliant. Desert is nice too. Between the Causeway and Walk Arcade, easy to find once you know where it is, worth the time hunting for it otherwise!
P.
I accidentally found this place on Bourke st and I’m glad I did. The food was hearty and healthy. The portion size was very generous
, came with dessert and free drink. If you are students, you pay only $6.95. Thank you so much for providing this divine food to people. I’ll support your business more often.
A. D. (.
Affordable tasty eats. If you're a uni student looking for a cheap eat I highly recommend this place. There isn't much of a selection however for $8 for all you can eat this is quite amazing. They have a different dish everyday so it doesn't feel too repetitive if you intend to go frequently. The only down side is this place is not access friendly for those on wheelchairs.
A. M.
Is an awesome price for a Student with great and unlimited vegan food.
Y. W.
Friendly staff, nice food, spacious dining area, I love this place :))

We went to this restaurant because it was across from our hotel. This place serves a different meal every day of the week. The food is delicious and the portions were large. We didn't even need to go for seconds. Staff were pleasant and courteous. The atmosphere is cafeteia like. Went to this place two days in a row because the food was so good. Highly recommend.
S. M.
Nice food, free coffee and very friendly staff. We had a couple of all day breakfasts and they were delicious. Definitely recommended!
P. S.
THE PRICE:
Very cheap, I believe it's $7.95 all you can eat (unlimited servings) and $5.95 if you have a concession card. I think it's also $5.95 if you're a student.
THE FOOD:
The food is already prepared and you don't have to wait for it to be prepared. It was tasty and I found it to have less oil and spices and generally a nice light meal. You get a curry, rice, pappadums, drink and a dessert. I had the Thai curry which was delicious.
THE VENUE:
Plenty of seating upstairs and downstairs. A nice peaceful environment to eat.
THE SERVICE:
The owner I believe was very kind and friendly as well as the staff.
Overall:
If you're after a very cheap course of light less oily/spicy meals and you're low on time, I highly recommend Crossways.

Delicious and cheap food. Friendly staff.
C. L.
If you decide to eat here, you have to enter with a full understanding of what's up the narrow staircase. This isn't a restaurant in the true sense - there is no menu, no waiters, no bar. Each day they serve one vegetarian stew/curry, with rice, followed by a dessert. The curry and dessert carry from day to day, but are always tasty and healthy vegetarian dishes. Eat as much as you want for $7.95 (cheaper for concession) plus cordial/water or vanilla lassie drink.
I eat here often and always enjoy my meals here.
J. H.
So happy I stumbled across this amazing place! It doesn’t look like much from outside but don’t be fooled by the simple decor, Crossways is outstanding!
The service was quick and friendly and the food was hot, packed with flavour and cheap! I highly recommend if you’re looking for a delicious and quick vegan lunch come here
M. C.
Good for a quick tasty vegetarian meal in the city at a budget price.

Nothing fancy but that's the point! The food is delicious and as much as you can eat, the process is simple, the staff are super friendly, and it feels like a community dining hall in India. For a big, good quality, affordable meal this is a great choice.

I love this place. Located in the middle of Melbourne offers Crossways cheap and delicious vegetarian/vegan Indian food as it's finest. You can eat as much as you want but don't have any plans for after, you will not be able to move yourself. Dessert and drink is always included. Would always go again.
A.
Good vegan restaurant with the concept of weekly menu. You can each as much as you wish and enjoy the peaceful environment at a very cheap price. I didn't give up all stars because I got a stomach pain after having the lunch. I suppose some of the beans are sort of difficult to digest. Otherwise all good.
B. H.
This is by far my favourite place to eat in Melbourne! It's SO cheap (discounted for students), offers hearty/wholesome meals (including dessert I LIVE for halva in custard) and is always a warm, welcoming environment to sit down at any time of the day.
The communal seating is so nice because it encourages everyone to eat together. While it does get busy, it's still a really calm place to go eat. There's even the option to go upstairs where (if you're lucky) you can get the lovely window table overlooking Swanson St and the town hall.
The curries are ALWAYS delicious-- literally THE PERFECT meal to get you through a chilly Melbourne day in Winter! I don't think I've ever had the same curry-- even if I have, I've never had any leftovers! Plus, the dessert (as previously mentioned) is so dang yummy! Never tried anything like it before I want here and ever since, I never turn down a bowl of it!
So if you hadn't already registered my general feelings towards Crossways, it's one of total appreciation for its existence! As a student studying in the CBD, it's awesome to having a place so close to campus where I can eat a proper, nutritious meal when assessments are bogging me down and I don't have the time to cook.
Give it a visit if you haven't already! I'm sure you'll be a regular like the rest of us soon!
A. C.
Food is good. The Dessert is the best

I was worried this place was gonna be untidy or have very low quality tasting food given the price range like a few similar restaurants. But I was very very wrong. Took my parents there and we had a very superb meal! Curry and rice were cooked well, drinks are very good for its price, and desserts were very good. It is no wonder a lot of office workers and students like myself will come back here repeatedly.
Thank you those who've volunteered behind the counters!

Delicious food & extremely good value! Highly recommend!. I agree with the good reviews for Riva Cafe Bar! A group of 8 of us went for dinner one Friday night recently. The place was full & buzzing. Taste was fantastic and that’s whats matters. Yum, yum, yum!
L. A.
This is an absolute gem of an eatery. Fantastic hosts, generous servings (unlimited refills) and very tasty food.
It's a set menu, but this allows for fast service and Malaysian curry perfection (the offering today) with a delicious orange kahlava dessert, served warm with custard and a simple lassi.
L. S.
Generous serves from lovely people. The food is very tasty and filling. If you don't have much money you can eat like a king! Great for pensioners and students especially, but don't be put off if you are a downtown professional, it's a lovely, calm space and the food is delicious, even if you aren't a vegetarian.
N. K.
Pretty nice place for vegans. The food is simple and mild and not fancy. It goes with the simplicity of the hare rama hare Krishna believers n worshippers. You won't have a fancy menu there, the meals are fixed for each day. From a student's point of view, its a pretty good deal. You can eat as much as you want for a pretty decent price. Not only its cheap, its tastes good too. The sweet dish is loved by almost everyone who has tried their food. The sweet lassi is amazing and refreshing too.
When you are running low on budget and want to enjoy a good filling meal, must visit this place.

Vegetarian meals can sometimes be a little one-dimentional, even in the great food capital of Australia; Melbourne. Crossways is certainly not the case. It always delivered far more than most places, and has never failed to disappoint me in the 20 or so years I've been eating here.
The rotating menu is always delicious and packed full of spices and flavor. The desserts are simply delightful and for around $8 per person, you can eat them to your heart's content.
G. S.
The best and simple vegan food in town.
Crossways provides cheap, unlimited Indian meals. Best thing is that it's mostly vegan.
The food is very tasty, and they have a limited menu. Every item tastes and smells nice, with adequate amount of spice.
This place is highly recommended.

Adorable staff and i love the concept of low prices and helping others in need. Unfortunately not my "style". Food wasn't too bad (only 1 choice) but I didn't feel comfortable eating close to strangers and homeless. As I say love the concept but I was probably unprepared for the experience as the place is in the heart of the cbd.
A. L.
Honest food with friendly welcoming service.
The meals are cheap and the options are set each day.
The impressive thing about this place are the flavours of the dishes. The curry wasn't overly salty or watery. Ingredients were fresh and the place was humble and clean
D. B.
A simple ambience, with the most welcoming and friendly staff/volunteers.
Buffet style: main course, drinks and a dessert!
Menu: a different menu for everyday of the week.
A pocket friendly, delicious & wholesome meal indeed :)

Can't believe I hadn't been here before!! Food was delicious, great portion sizes for the price and friendly service. Cozy vibes and yummy drinks.
M. F.
All you can eat and now vegan options. Love it! Great price great karma. Sometimes they have vegan cake for dessert but you have to ask for it. Including popadoms and cordial gives it an edge over OM Vegetarian just down the road. Curry is thicker too. Pity they are closed on Sunday.
N. F.
Cheap buffet(all you can eat) with different menu card for different time of the day in a week. Students can eat for 5.9$ and others can for 7.9$ which is good. Though it's not serving food that has a great taste but it stands for what it is, a non profit organization.
A. P. A.
Delicious.
This is a quiet, calm place to enjoy lunch and really end up feeling like you have eaten something. The food is extraordinary, and the all-you-can-eat policy is just the icing on the cake. Beautiful, totally recommend.
D. B.
Cheap price and okay food. Not a lot of flavour in the curry. Not many vegges in sight. Menu changes daily but only one choice of main and two dessert choices. For the money you can't complain about what's on offer but I would be willing to pay more for something better.
J. K.
Always budget friendly and I always leave full. If you visit crossways 6 days a week you might only get disappointed once either by one of the attendants or the food itself but generally a pretty decent meal place. I love their desserts, the papadum, their rice on Fridays esp and pretty much most of their food.
PS. Still a regular customer ;)
s. L.
Fantastic vegetarian food, simple, tasty and nutritious, AND cheap. I used to frequent this place as a student over 25 years ago, and I still come back when ever I'm in town. The menu has improved but the hulwa and lassi are still awesome. You can go back for complementary seconds for food, drinks and desserts. There is quieter seating on the next level and clean toilets.
H. D. (.
Even after the recent price increase (standard meal now is $8.95), it's still great value, all you can eat vegan meal, vegetarian or vegan dessert plus drinks. I don't like the food on Tuesdays though, the brown rice is a bit bitter for my taste.
S. R. S.
This is a good satvik restaurant for a quick super healthy/quality vegetarian food that with out onion/garlic/mushroom, suitable for Vegans too. This place is run by the ISKCON Melbourne, where food comes directly from the temple. People here are obviously devotees with a pleasant attitude.
Another great thing about this place is that it offers a discount for students/pensioners.
Another restaurant of this type around the corner is - Gopals vegetarian restaurant.
M. Y.
Such a great hidden gem! Set menu, different each day. Meals under $10, and so tasty! Highly recommend. No disabled access as it's up a set of stairs. Don't forget to ring the bell as you leave as thanks for a tasty meal.
L. E.
I've been here a few times and have never had a bad meal yet. The curries I've tried are very flavoursome, the deserts are different but yummy and I really love the lassi on tap. One of my fave places to eat in Melbourne if I'm budgeting. Hare Hare Krishna!
M. M.
Super cheap All YOU CAN EAT‼︎
K. G.
simple Indian food. Supplied with measure. even though mentioned all you can eat, I do not like personally to go again with a used plate for food. Hence I find the first serve a bit stingy.
most of the staff may be voluntary and Hare Krishna devotees. Not sure on the business model.if its privately owned or a organisation.
taste mild , less spicy
Ambiance is ok. Can see lot of people visit this place. some ring the bell if they like the food.
Worth a visit if you like vegetarian food.
T. M.
Really nice food for a great price-point.
I personally don't like to go back for seconds, I feel that there are others around that may need it more than me. I go for the food, dessert and non-judgement you may get with other places when you can't have dairy and a vego.
If you want a good place to eat with food that tastes the part, go to Crossways. Not a fine dining experience, but that's half the fun!
P. M.
Absolutely beautiful. Best and authentic happy meal! Come here again and again! 💕
J. B.
This place is more than just a non-profit restaurant. If you are looking for a cheap and good vegetarian meal that includes a desert and drinks; pluses a peaceful and clam place to chill right in the middle of the city, its the right place. Additionally, if you are into Hare Krishna, you definitely should go as they have all sorts of event fliers and books there. Im not but its just something Ive noticed.
N. Z.
Nice, cozy and cheap place for some great healthy all-you-can-eat. Haven't found a place with comparable value and as great food anywhere in Australia. People from all walks of life like to dine there and it's always a nice experience.
A. Y. J.
The desserts were so so good. I can go there just to have dessert
m. s.
I visited here for the first time coming from king island tasmania after buying cheap clothes at target, an employee recomended crossways because i am a bargain hunter :) The vanilla lassie tasted like a yoghurt milk drink & I liked that alot. The meals arent fancy but there kept simple. For the low price & all you can eat its a great bargain. Anywhere else for a burger & chips cost $12+ & other places i ate were $26+. Great value for money & the staff were excellent.
P. F.
Tastes amazing and really cheap! Totally worth it

We ordered 6 different dishes from the menu. All came very tasty and fresh. Everyone loved it! The free drink (comes partially with the meal) makes the order value for money. Absolutely lived it. Maybe the only drawback was the tables which were sticky but overall, 5 star for the service.
K. D. P.
Always a favourite of mine, crossways offers a humble, friendly and warm atmosphere with beautiful indian (?) cuisine. The staff are always lovely and the meals are always satisfying and enjoyable. The menu serves one meal at lunch and dinner, the same plate and dessert for every order. These meals rotate on a specials board which is visible outside and inside. Not only are the meals delicious, they are also very affordable, and also vegetarian.
I would very highly recommend crossways to anyone.
P. S.
Always Good! A pocket of India, one might say, with Nice Vegetable Curries and Yoghurt Lassa Drink with pudding dessert coated in custard! Very affordable as well for travelers and battlers! The arrangement of Book Literature allows one also to investigate the Krishna Religion at leisure while one is eating. It's a great opportunity for freelance study in comparative religions, if one has that interest in Looking Towards The East!

Very neat & tidy place, has fixed menu (no ala-carte). Probably the best vegetarian/vegan restaurant in the heart of the city. Loved the wonderful food, desserts are just brilliant! Would recommend it any day to anyone hunting for healthy veg food.
Y. k.
One of the best vegetarian food you can have in Melbourne city. I went there twice a week when I was a student as my university is near to crossways. If I go to city for shopping crossways is my first preference for having lunch. Nice staff and hygiene food with the best price in city.
c.
Love love love Crossways. Thank you for keeping my belly fully of delicious food over the years. I will always keep going back to Crossways for not just the delicious food but the eclectic clientele and good vibes (hot tip - there is more seating upstairs and the tables by the window have a beautiful leafy vista over the old town hall building)
A. M.
I love how sweet and friendly the staff are! This was my first time and it was amazing - the food was simple but delicious and although I was a little suspicious of the lassi I was determined to give it a try. I had a great time people-watching too as people from all walks of life came to this wonderful restaurant. Keep up the great work!
J. K.
No nonsense place for quality vegetarian food at an affordable price. Go here if you want to have tasty all you can eat food with a papad and sweet. Sip unlimited lassi and orange juice as well. There is definitely a great difference between other fancy places where you go concentrate on everything else apart from food. Here you will definitely enjoy the food with spiritual music in the background.
P. R.
Best vegan food you can get for cheapest is available here. ALL YOU CAN EAT is best thing here. Environment is very calming you can get as much food as you want.
D. O.
Tasty food, friendly staff, good price and nice atmosphere!. I have been going there a long time ago and I take some of my friends. They liked it!
S. V.
Good Vegan Food and affordable price. Best part is that food is made by volunteers, served by volunteers and everyone working there is doing the service as volenteer. Best part is the Sweet dish called Haluwa. Very tasty. Lassi can be made as buttermilk as it is very watery.
A. N. G.
Came here with some friends looking for somewhere cheap to eat after a recommendation. The food was delicious and they had vegan cake! Of course I went back for seconds! Yummy
J.
You can't really complain when it costs $5.50 for all you can eat.
The food was really nice and I would go to again. It's a rather simple setting but then again what do you expect, overall I rather enjoyed dropping in for a bite in a more casual environment.
M. N.
Perfect unlimited Vegan food which consists of unlimited serving of rice, a side dish, a dessert, a lassi, pappadum and sherbet drink. All this at mere $8. For students, it is just $6 if you show them your ID card 💳.
C. A.
Delicious food for cheap...all you can eat for $8.95! Great atmosphere for what you're paying, nothing fancy but that's what I love about it. No complaints 😊
J. D.
Yes, all the positives are correct. But what about investing a few thousand dollars in some flywire screens so that the sparrows don't come in and eat your food? Or employing a staff member to clear the dirty plates off the table so the birds don't settle in for the duration? I have voiced all this to the manager some weeks ago. To what avail? It's been obvious for months
N. J.
Incredible value for money. This place is well known but has recently moved to a new location and sad to say it’s not as cozy and inviting as it used to be. Food is still great and the service also, it’s hard to be picky when you’re getting well fed for $7 plus unlimited lassi!
E. F.
A big serve of tasty vegetarian curry plus paddadums and dessert is a total bargain at only $7.50. Amazing. I had the Friday Thai curry and it was delicious, so flavoursome and filling!
M. B.
Food for everyone. Everyday a different healthy and tasty vegetarian food. But only one food choice and two dessert options. It's cheap though. Eat as much as you want for $5.50. Friendly staff and great atmosphere.
A. R.
There was some nice meat on the waitress. The steak was pretty nice too. They do this thing were they get lamb, steak and pork, put it in a blender with some milk and some other "secret ingredients". The result is what they call a meatshake. Its God damn amazing.
A. R.
I would say it the best place for students to eat with little money. Moreover, staff is friendly and food taste good. It can be really busy at lunch hours but can't complain with service you get for $6. Definitely a place to be.
N. M.
Outstanding. This all-you-can-eat vegetarian restaurant is a boon for the students. The food is consistently awesome. The crisp papadams and mouthwatering dessert are unparalleled.
The soft spiritual Hare Krishna music takes you to the transcendental world. The ambience is friendly. The paintings are deep, spiritual and thought provoking.
You can find toilets on the 2nd floor, which is always found clean.
There are books available to read while you eat. Don't go pick them up if you are in a hurry. You will be unable to put it down. However, you can always buy the books you like.
A. R.
I really appreciate this place. I stopped in Melbourne just passing through and found this place. I was starving and when I walked out I was so full I couldn't eat their dessert. Cost me less than $8 and the food tasted so good. Lots of flavour and everything cooked
perfectly. Big thank you!
T. I. P.
Beautiful food and people. Very zen vibe with lovely background music. They just serve one dish each day by the way, it's the epitome of simplicity. It's just great and I love what they're all about - not everyone will get it but I sure do. We need more of this in the world.
F. D.
Crossways offers a lovely vegan and vego Indian range for redicously cheap! Not to mention it's all you can eat!! What's not t love. Great atmosphere, great staff, great price & great food. Crossways is not a place I'd be parting ways with anytime soon.
M. L.
Cheap! And tasty! Just note it is a revolving set menu each session so you might not know what you are going to get. It is all you can eat for the one low price including a few drinks available.
G. M.
Let me start by saying the food is faultless at Riva. From price point to aesthetics the chef has his pants pulled high and his head down.
What let’s Riva down is basic customer service. The bar team are flat out rude to patrons. You can forget about getting a smile
On greet
It’s so focused on high $ intake it’s forgetting the very basics of customer service the come day go day customer expects.
A: no one to greet
B: bar staff are unaware of large booked tables or are prepared to receive these groups.
C: tables not set
D: lighting candles and preparing the venue at 730pm on a Saturday night in what any average person would assume is peak service period is just ridiculous.
D. P.
Great location good food if you're nearby looking for lunch ect give it a go
S. R.
You can cop a mean feed at this joint for just 6.95AUD Concession/8.95AUD Full Price. All you can eat! 2 Mains, Dessert and a Drink! Crossways and the Hare Krishnas have been serving Melbourne delicious, lacto-vegetarian fare for many decades. A wonderful place for good food and good company! A real community hub!
P. S. (.
Visit here to enjoy the deliciously prepared all-you-can-eat menu, which is different for every day of the week, always includes rice and a dessert/porridge. Located in Melbourne CBD, you can feel the spiritual vibe while while dining here.
Signup for the weekly YOGA/Meditation classes on the floor above.
Don't forget to ring the bell before you leave.
Hare Krishna.
D. L.
Nothing flash but we loved it. All you can eat (no need to be greedy) for $8.95. There's no choice as such but the veggie curry and rice was delish!
R. M.
Great self service place for decent home style indian food. They have a set menu for the week, but it is unlimited food n lassi for 7.95$. ample space to sit and courteous staff.
C. N.
Crossways provides a delicious and filling meal of curry of the day with rice and a dessert for an afforable price of 7.95 (or 5.95 if youre a student).
Service is friendly, quick, you can have as many serves as you like, and they cater well to vegans.
P. J.
My favorite
Cheapest and healthiest food for students
You will surprisingly see more foreigners than Indian
Good place to feel the culture.
Everyday a different curry helps to get rid of the monotonous taste
More than enough space to sit relax and eat
K. W.
Nice place, solid food, especially since it's all you can eat and dessert provided. Only one type of meal on offer each day, though it changes each day. Usually good space for groups upstairs
S. S.
This is a cheap eats place, great for students, backpackers, and of course the general public, for lunch, vegetarians would all know this place. I wish the mains could be a little less salty, maybe that's just me, the pudding is yum yummily yumptious, maybe that's just me too. Some people might be put off by the stack your own dishes-y feel about the place, decor, etc is not meant to pamper, let's just put it that way, and I'm not really down with why orange cordial is one of the beverages... Bleah. But if you are not fussy about that and are just really really hungry and hate paying a lot, it's a great feed. Basically you could go back and get seconds or thirds, etc. if you wanted, so, in that respect, it's a very welcoming place. Very popular and I've been going here for a while, not that often, but it's good knowing it's right there in the heart of the city if you need it. One day I might steal one of their plants, they look so dowdy and cool at the same time. Just kidding.
K. O.
A cozy place to have your weekend breakfast. Delicious burgers and friendly service crew.
H. O.
Good food at a reasonable price. I would recommend it for lunch.
D. C.
Cheap and healthy place with vegan &avengers roam meals! All you can eat for students 5,95$!!! This is a social service restaurant. Everyone who rates only 4 stars or below should stay at home!
P. C.
Very good vegetarian food, all you can eat. Main course is a curry on rice served with poppadoms. Lassa yoghurt drink available. Desert is a small pudding with custards. Upstairs location, plenty of seating.
S. K.
This is the best place if you're looking for cheap, delicious and fulfilling meals, with unlimited serves. And while it may not concern you all, the meals served here contain spiritual value. Therefore please be careful about wasting food. Cheers
M. B.
What this place achieves is amazing, a high quality meal that really fills you up, at a very low price in an accommodating surround. I don't know how they do it so cheaply but if you are vegetarian/vegan then this place is definitely something you will want to check out.
S. F.
This place has amazing vegetarian food. Huge portions for a reasonable price. Would recommend to anyone looking for good and inexpensive food in the city.
A. J.
There's much to love about this place: friendly environment, shared tables, vegetarian meals and, on top of everything, an NGO. Oh yeah, and awfully cheap too.
The perfect place for a casual meal, especially when it's chilly outside (the warm halava + custard is delicious).
D. B.
I absolutely loved the food. Super tasty, healthy and 9$ (less if you are student) all you can eat is perfect!
B. H.
Cheap and good vegetarian food! All you can eat too, although their one plate is usually enough. $8.95 to eat, cheaper for students!
J. A.
Grest value all you can eat vege curry which is very tasty. Recommend to avoid the lunch time rush. The custard desert can be hit and miss for flavour - seems very bland these days compared to a year ago, hence the 3*. Also being cheap the clientele can be a little on the nose.
P. B.
A Melbourne institution. Crossways food is always tasty and the serves are massive. A daily menu means the options are limited, but value is unbelievably good. You'll leave with a full belly and an eclectic mix of interesting people to chat to along the way.
R. M.
Love the food, place, and the service would absolutely recommend to others.
S. K.
This is a budget food house in the centre in the city, for the price, I am not sure what it is now but use to be $6.50 One would get rice with curry, a lassi and desert. They work hard as the place is very busy, long line but moves fast.
C. G.
The old cliche is "pick two: good, cheap and healthy." This is probably the only place ticks all 3. I'm so happy they now do dinner too. On one hand I wish they did meat, on the other hand I accept not every meal needs meat.
S. R.
I’ll miss the atmosphere of the original location but little changed including the man in the white robes who will gladly chew off the ear who’ll give him the time. Best value meal in Melbourne.
D. A.
A place to eat vegetarian food free from harassment. Mains, dessert and drink for under $9
Ring the bell when you leave.
I've eaten Hari food for decades, always tasty, always filling, always grounding.
L. G.
This place fulfils you spiritually as well as with food. It's an experience.
The food is always delicious and very very cheap.
All you can eat.
You must try it.
L. M.
A refuge on an anxious stressful day. Tasty food. No choices. Cheap. Vegan option. A positive atmosphere. Just what I needed today. And with a rotating menu I will be sure to return again many more times.
J. B.
food took forever to come out, but very nice food
N. K.
Really cheap delicious vegan/vegetarian food. Standard is always high and very filling. Gets busy during lunch so if you're not keen on queuing go outside of lunch hours.
L. B.
Pricing is higher now. However the same large portion of quality vegetarian food. Loved it! Throw in the chili flakes and pickles if you find the food bland.
O.
great place to eat cheap vegetarian meal in cbd. good atomasphere, staff and food!!concession is $5.95, adult is $7.95. can't go wrong.
K. A.
I usually come here for breakfast or lunch. Food is great and tasty. Coffee is not. Staff are super friendly. Location is lovely in the Causeway lane. Accessible from Bourne st and little Colin st.
A. G.
This is a no-frills Hare Krishna run vegan/vegetarian restaurant in the heart of Melbourne. It's similar to Gopals just with less options. Basically, it serves a set lunch and dinner menu, with a different meal each day of the week (Moday to Saturday). For example, Monday lunch is Satay Vegetables with Basmati Rice and Raisin Halava & Custard dessert. Monday's dinner is Chickpea with Vegetables in Pumpkin Sauce served with Cous Cous and Apple Crumble for dessert. The daily menu consists of two courses along with a cordial or lassie. The best part is that it's an all-you-can-eat! It's also both eat-in or take away. Crossways is not a fancy place. It's a no-frills restaurant serving inexpensive but healthy meals that are like home cooked. The service is very friendly and the staff very courteous and most helpful.
T.
Amazing value all you can eat but you won't want more than the first portion! Good place to escape the bustle of the city and have a good healthy feed.
A. N.
One of the reasons why Melbourne is so highly regarded as the sports and arts capital of the world, Melbourne Park is home to multiple functional entertainment and sports venues all within close proximity to both each other and the CBD and accessible by public transport in all directions.
J. H.
Cheap, healthy vegetarian meals. Great service. Been coming here for years for lunch and dinner.
Meals always served with a smile. Excellent atmosphere!
S. R.
4 🌟 Contentment is one word you can describe this place as, if you are hungry and a vegetarian. Eat all you can, with one type of rice, a sambar, a curry and a sweet with custard. Kudos to Iskcon for this service!
L. M.
Delicious. Good cup of tea. Great service.
l. f.
Food is ok but for the price it definitely does the job! Has been a tummy saviour more than a dozen times after I've found myself starving in the city!!
c. s.
Their food was lovely! Yes slightly small servings but that suited us fine as it filled us up enough. Their service was good too and not that slow, probably because it was early in the day, morning, and people hadnt started to arrive yet. We had Florentine eggs on muffins and they did the eggs perfectly.
S. D. C.
I'd highly recommend this place. Affordable vegetarian food, good atmosphere and a central location, and the main meals always seem to be vegan.
K. A.
Good food at a reasonable price, daily fixed menu but all you can eat. Nice atmosphere and very clean. For the price you can't beat it.
V. W.
Pretty sure the little bell you ring to say thank you is covered in germs and the reason I got gastro because no one else I've ever been here with has got it BUT other than that it's amazing food and the provide such a service. All vegetarian with vegan options.
A. B.
Got my first Masala tea and it was lovely. Food is basic but hearty and delivered with a warm smile.
J. O.
Best cheap meal in the city. I've been coming here for years without complaint, and hope to do so for many more. Thank you Crossways.
C. M.
Can't describe in words its just sublime!
C.
Nice Indian vegetarian food. Just the dessert a bit too sweet. Sometime can get 50 percents discount in Groupon
A. J.
My top 3 places to eat in Melbourne! Cheap, always tastes amazing and healthy, why would you go anywhere else? 😍😄
A. P.
It was amazing! People from everywhere come there. The food is very nice, it's delicious! It's a good place to meet if you go to Melbourne.
Y. P.
Food is pretty standard. You get what you pay for. Food is clean as told. Isn't spicy the way you'd usually find in restaurants. It would be really good to have a menu though.
b. u.
Good and tasty food in city in very nominal rate. Food is onion garlic free. Everyday menu is different with main course, dessert and juice/lassi.
K. O.
I’ve loved eating at Crossways since I was a kid in the 90s. It’s wholesome, always tasty and great value - you don’t need to be a vegetarian to enjoy the food here!
J. T.
Best food i've ever had in Australia
Being from Sydney, love the taste of only this one in Melbourne. Feels like home!!
I liked this place so much that I came all the way from Narrewarren just to eat here!
B. H.
pretty good. tasty, if sometimes a little lukewarm food. can't argue with the price though. only 5.50 with concession, free refills and pudding/custard dessert.
P. J.
Great place for a quick, good and best of all budget lunch. The food is tasty, the people are friendly. What can you ask more for.
L. S.
love their dessert, I come back several times for that. Nice people there, nice curry, a super nice place for students that in budget. It's sad they are not open on Sunday
M. P.

D. M.
Love coming here when in the city. All you can eat vegan and vegetarian for great prices and tasty food to boot. Would highly recommend!
D. A.
Minimalist set up, tasty food, rapid and polite service, very reasonable price, and if you're still hungry you can get seconds for free! Highly recommend.
J. P. S.
I highly recommend this place for vegie, rice meal lovers :) all you can eat for <$8 :) Quality, Healthy and very reasonable pricing, I love it
p. m.
Good service and the food is affordable and delicious
M. S.
Simple and delicious! Totally worth the money. $6.95 for a good meal with desert and drinks included.
D. J.
Fantastic value, nutritious food. The Krishnas spend a lot of time and money feeding the poor and homeless, good to support them.
A. S. D.
Oasis in dessert is this place. Love the food and happiness with which they serve food. Every day new menu means every day fresh food 😇
M. M.
If you are in the city and want the best price-value ratio, this is the place for you. You have to love vegetarian of course! Namaste... Unfortunately, this place is not accessible for wheelchairs.
N. R.
Food quality could be better. But a good place for vegetarians in Melbourne. I wish the cook would do wonders with the good fresh vegetables
B. C.
Great value food, $9 gets you two mains with rice, a dessert and unlimited lassi.
I need not say more.
L. H.
So nice to enjoy meal here,it’s a pity that I just come to eat on the last day I stay in Melbourne for traveling. If possible,I would really wish to eat for a whole week!I can tell from the empty plates that how much customers enjoy their meals and time here.Cheap and healthy,I was so touched by this wonderful canteen!

Relatively cheap all you can eat. Don't expect anything other than tasty cheap Indian food. Ie you have to wash your own plates.
N. K.
Great place for vegetarians. Awesome food and the best part is that it is unlimited. Keep going there every weekend. Best for students.
S. L.
We love to go there. Vegetarian food, very cheap. There is no choice, one main one pudding for lunch and another one for dinner. Served with juice or lassi.
L. R.
If you want healthy vegetarian/vegan food on a budget. You can't get better than their 7.95 unlimited meal.
V. F.
Probably the cheapest place in the CBD. A decent vegetarian curry and rice with halva and custard plus a drink for $8.50
Its not fancy nor will it impress but it will fill your belly and at a good price
C. D.
Great place. Ideal for backpackers, lawyers, vegetarians, students, family, everyone enjoys this simple but powerful dinning experience. Very close to public transportation
A. G.
A must visit place if you are a vegetarian/ vegan. Healthy and cheap meal served with love. Had positive vibes and experience.
N.
You get a curry with rice and a dessert and a lassi for 6$ as a student, 8$ normal price. It was really good and such a good price!

P. W.
Love love love Crossways! Tasty simple healthy food, great value (ie cheap!) Peace lovin vibe. Don't forget to ring the bell in thanks as you leave 😊
P. M.
Not so fussed. Seems a little untidy and twice now sticky tables. Needs to tidy up and be more crisp in appearance. Pancakes a little dry. Considering the choices available in Melbourne it needs to do better. Coffee ok.
S. N.
It's my all time favourite. The food is seriously good for such an affordable price.
M. K.
A bit preachy, but they make hearty all you can eat meals that are beyond worth the $7. Everyone is so wonderfully kind and they are doing it for all the right reasons ♡
C. C.
The most cosy and nice place to go for vegeterian food. Friendly staff delicious food. Also I've bought 3 books for $10 dollars. Highly recomended.

A. W. C.
Hare Krishna restaurant. Decent curry for $7 including free refills. Good option if you are on a budget.
R. V.
Still a great place to grab a good cheap vegetation lunch. I've been coming here for more than 20 years and it hasn't changed hardly at all, and that's a good thing.
D. B.
The atmosphere is delightful as much as the food and the people at Crossway. Cheapest and most nutritious food in Melbourne is an extra ;)
B.
Good cheap wholesome food. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere, with heaps of seating. Great to escape the city but for a minute.

J. D.
Everyone is so happy, and the atmosphere is great.
The food, though not that healthy, is nice, especially for the price.
T. K.
Good value hearty meals in a relaxed atmosphere, so long as you aren't too disturbed by the slightly surreptitious Hare Krishna literature placed settings the building and playing on the television
T. B.
Affordable, healthy, all you can eat vegetarian food. Usually one simple dish plus dessert plus lassi.
G.
The best food for an amazing price! Also very nice people! Love this place! THE BEST!
