I really liked the venue. Our waitress was fantastic! Very good at her job. I just wasn't really 'wowed'. I didn't try the steak or slow cooked lamb because I wanted to sample as much as I could. Food was not bad at all just not very innovative/fun. The menu is well written and thought about. Sorry for the low stars just comparing to other experiences. Definitely worth the try 😊. Fav dish was Mussels

Although a Melbourne institution, Cumulus has a relaxed vibe, serving simple European dishes with mix results, and are very, very casually plated.
Let me be upfront - some dishes work and others don't. The good ones, boquerones (vinegar marinated anchovies) swimming in olive oil and the decadently rich, melt-in-the-mouth, slow roasted lamb shoulder are winners.
The prosciutto and melon should have been, could have been winners, with the right ingredients. The flavour combination of salty, complex ham flavour with sweet juicy melon are sublime. Unfortunately this dish at Cumulus misses the brief completely - the thoughtlessly scattered melons are hard, not juicy, not sweet.
I recently had a very good cheese platter at another Melbourne restaurant. With that in mind, I ordered the cheese platter from Cumulus ($28). I am not a cheese connoisseur, but if you look at the picture, I think you will share my sentiment that the cheeses have not been properly stored. The soft cheese is firm (when it should be soft and creamy), and the hard cheese, bland and brittle.
In addition, I think the plating of food is important. I am not talking about Instagram aspirations. An attractive plating whets the appetite. Uninterested, random plonk of food is a big turn off. The plating of the prosciutto and cheese at Cumulus, for me, veer dangerously close to the latter.

One of my all time favourite Australian restaurants that do amazing food!! I have yet to fault them with anything. The food is always phenomenal and the service is perfect.

Overall dine in experience here was wonderful.
Food was delicious and staff were friendly and attentive.
Tuna tartare was the highlight for me. Fresh with the perfect combo with the goat's curd peas salad, so delish!
Would love to visit again for another special occasion.

Sophisticated and delicious!
The prosciutto was so fresh! The bread was nice and warm and it was a good call with the chicken liver parfait.
The ricotta gnocchi was a good surprise, but my favourite was the garlic potatoes. It sounds very simple, but it is just delicious! It is a must order for sure.
The environment of the place is also lovely, perfect for a date night.

22 Nov 21. My partner and I dined for lunch celebrating my partners belated birthday. We received a warm welcome as we arrived and were led to our table. We ordered a glass of champagne and decided on the degustation chefs menu for lunch. The waiter went through the items we'd be given today from the menu. The champagne arrived along with some sour dough bread, next oysters and the snapper crude, then a plate of cured meat (not on the menu)and a dish of heirloom zucchinis.
We ordered a bottle of 2017 Lyons Will Pinot Noir (this wine had been recommended to us the day before at Zig Zag Rd Winery so we felt it was an omen and had to try it) and it was delicious.
Next came the slow cooked lamb shoulder, garlic roasted potatoes and a small salad. The lamb just fell off the bone, it was delicious. To finish we were served strawberries with a vanilla semifreddo, a lovely dish to end our lunch. We enjoyed our meal over a leisurely 2 hours. It was nice not to be rushed. Another lovely birthday celebration. Can't wait to dine here again.

Excellent service and the food is exceptional. The 85 Aus feed me is good value and the even tweak it to diet needs.

We came here for a nice sit down dining experience knowing that the restaurant had a high standard reputation.
Happy to say that the food was delicious and the menu was well thought out.
Really interesting to see green peppers (chilli) with prosciutto. Simple but worked.
I’m not a big fan of Gnocchi as I haven’t had any good Gnocchi since our trip to Italy, surprisingly the House made Gnocchi was my favourite dish for the evening. Very light and packed with flavours.
Overall food was fantastic. Dessert wasn’t the highlight of the evening but forgiven so the food and service for the evening was a pleasant experience.
We look to dine again next season, hopefully the menu is seasonal :)

I visited Cumulus Inc. on Thursday evening with my partner, for our anniversary. We had previously dined at Cumulus Up for a birthday a few years earlier.
When we arrived we were greeted very promptly by the host, and he gave us a choice of a low table, or bar seats, which we appreciated. Our server was also very attentive, and made sure to set, clear and crumb the table when appropriate. We opted for the $85 set menu, and we were also to swap out the lamb for beef at a slight price increase.
The evening was very lovely, especially our sever, Chris, was fantastic. Very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable.
Thank you very much Cumulus Inc. for a wonderful evening!

Had the selection of shared dishes with my wife. All were delicious and brought out very quickly. The show cooked (8 hours) roast lamb shoulder was the highlight and a very generous size. Very busy given it was the lead up to Christmas and felt a little rushed to move on once finished with the prices on the high side

Delicious meal and outstanding wines. Everything was amazing (as usual)

Amazing foods with good value. Ordered the chef’s selection menu, which had perfect course with entree, main and dessert. All of the dishes were impressive and even the coffee served at the end was high in quality. One of the best restaurants in Australia.

Great customer service. I walked in and wanted a seat in the sun outside. The staff were very friendly and accomodating and wanted me to feel the most comfortable I could.
There is a very extensive drinks menu at Cumulus, so I would definitely recommend for day time drinks with friends.
Textures and flavours of food is well balanced, and well portioned. Plating of food is a little outdated though, and not very aesthetically pleasing.

It was my and my wife's 43rd birthday celebration, and more important, our first night out in 4.5 years. (Kids + first generation migrants with no family support network.)
I'd booked out a kitchen bar seat so we could watch all the action unfold.
Bron and her floor staff were absolutely fantastic, coming over to us at appropriate times, checking in our drinks, with engaging banter, and also wine recommendations for the lamb shoulder.
We almost never get time to ourselves over the last decade, and we wanted a wonderful modern Australian place offering great food, service and vibe.
We just didn't want to think for once, and wanted to be spoilt!
Bron and her team ticked all our boxes.
We had the degustation course for $85/each, and it was just the best $85/each spent.
There were four-five entrees, followed by three mains, and a dessert.
I don't know much about food (I just eat what's served) but I felt like I was take on a bit of a road trip, and the flavours were sensational.
Also - there is NO SALT OR PEPPER available; to us this meant the chef and team had expertly presented and served the food to be eaten as is.
And frankly we didn't need it as every dish was seasoned amazingly.
It was quite packed by 7pm, but it got quieter by 8pm, and it was quite boisterous and loud.
However at no point was the noise drowning out conversations, and we could hear Bron and the floor staff communicating clearly to us.
We were so pleased with our experience, we even left the team a tip; something I never do as I'm a tight-arse haha!
Thank you, Cumulus, Bron and team.
My wife and I had a fantastic time.
We'd come back again one day.

Great place. Sat up at the kitchen bar with my wife for our wedding anniversary. Absolutely loved everything. Food, wine service. Not a thing out of place.

Fantastic Melbourne institution - sharp seasonal menu, great showcase of local produce, nice drinks and clever service - always a must when out and about in the city

Great wine, food is delicious, fresh, exciting, elegant dishes. Share plates, mains if more hungry. The slow cooked lamb, crispy roast potatoes and the Tuna my favourites

The food here is 5/5. Everything had so much flavour and texture!!
The customer service is 5/5. Ive been to many fine dining restaurants in Sydney and I’ve never experience customer service like this. They were extremely busy tonight but were all attentive and we didn’t feel like we were rushed. We were served by 4 different wait staff tonight and they were all amazing. They all remembered our dietary requirements. One lady chef in the kitchen who wasnt even serving us recommended dishes that catered to dietary requirements as she overheard our dietary requirements while cooking! That makes 5 people including 4 wait staff. As we left, we were thanked by 3 different waitstaff and had one for them open the door for us. phenomenal! We were even offered a better seat halfway through our dinner because I asked if there was a better seat when we first entered the restaurant. This place is undoubtedly memorable. Thanks for an amazing experience 💯

We went here for a birthday expecting big things given it is a Melbourne institution. Nothing was wrong as such it just wasn't good and therefore worth the money.
Seating and tables felt a bit cheap and it was loud inside.
We are a big group so very accustomed to needing to be on the chefs menu but for the price we paid we could have gone to a number of restaurants and had better food.
M. R.
Incredible food. Excellent staff. All round excellent experience. Would recommend.
S. O.
An institution. Great food, attentive service, excellent wine list in a beautiful space.
M. V.
Excellent, good quality food. We had a great dining experience.

Service. Food. Wine.. all sublime and yet better then the 2 chef hat restaurant went to last night. WoWWee, highly recommend!! Renata especially made it a memorable evening 😀
L. C.
The food is uniformly very good and walks that fine line being giving the people what they want, and pushing boundaries just a tiny bit for some excitement. Service was professional and warm. These guys are hospitality champions. The entire experience is always assured and delightful.
G. S.
Great food which is made even better by the friendly service. Will definitely be coming back
L. H.
Staff were amazing, food was amazing, drinks were amazing!! The vibe was just super nice even though they were pretty busy and they're dealing with this covid world. I will definitely be back! Didn't get any photos because I just inhaled everything 🥰 it's super wheelchair accessible as well, with a wheelchair accessible loo 👍
D. H.
Absolutely superb food and service. Great value. Highly recommended 👍👍👍

Fantastic experience. You should sit at the bar and see the cooks and chef at work, while ordering the chef's choice menu.
L.
Amazing food great service, a little over priced but your guaranteed good food

Went here on a business trip. Walked in with 2 others, place was packed. We were offered a seat at the bar overlooking the kitchen - anything was good to get out of the cold. When the menu came we had no idea what to order so took the $75 a head meal option (a bit of everything). Even though they are quite small serves by the time the final dish of Roasted Lamb Shoulder came out we were pretty well stuffed. Drinks were a bit pricey. Desert was great. The place has a great vibe, busy, great views of the kitchen. Great watching the apprentice chef doing the Rum Ba Ba. As I said, not a place I would normally eat at, but thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Everything was just heavenly. What an experience. Delicious range of food. Quick and very friendly service. Would highly recommend it. We went there for an early lunch on sunday and just loved it.

Average to say the least, food wasn't terrible but nor was it sensational. Menu could be broader, wine and drinks up to par as well setting and environment. Was here for a work dinner but I personally won't be returning.

The Cumulus Inc reputation fair exceeds what was delivered today, unfortunately each dish did not live up to the expectation of a restaurant of this calibre. To make matters worst the service was subpar.
E. B.
I recently dinned in at Cumulus, the whole experience was great.
The food was delicious, the staff were attentive and the atmosphere was great.
I order the chef menu, there was the right amount of food.
I had some of the best oysters I’d ever had and ended up ordering 1 dozen.
Would highly recommend dinner here.
L. L.
The food is amazing, great service. We didn't want for anything the whole evening. Was so impressed the first time we took a friend later in the week. Thanks to the management and staff for making both visits unforgettable
J. H.
We had a set menu, It was good. Until we ate the dessert, that was pretty bad. The cherry chocolate thing was drenched in alcohol- me and my friend both hated it and left to eat dessert somewhere else.
A.
Overrated; there are much better spots on flinders lane. Service is good and the staff are lovely, but the food is very mediocre. Main tart is served room temp which is interesting. Overall lacklustre and would not recommend.
G. C.
As good as expected and hoped for. Fairly casual but top quality.
S. R.
Bloody brilliant, food was amazing and the wait staff were lovely. Very impressed, will be back again for certain
V. T.
Amazing food. Place isn’t big but it has a great vibe. Staff is very attentive. Went for lunch and order a few plates to share.

We ordered the Cumulus Classics Menu from Providoor to finish off at home. Just wonderful. Fail proof instructions and minimal amount of prep needed. The food was wonderful and packaging was recyclable. Highly, highly recommend for a special dinner in lockdown. Made my partner's iso 40th special. The chefs have done an amazing job re-inventing their dishes to have at home.
