i was here long time ago, good to be back. the food and the interior are staying the same!! the fried rice taste great, so fluffy, kong pan chicken are so tender , flavourful.
Xiao Long Bao aren’t juicy as before, taste good though.
the drink are not too bad, pretty refreshing.
K. W.
We live 90 mins away so Providoor delivered yum cha today . SO Delish , fresh and tasty . Easy to understand instructions, even a recommended Spotify play list . Happy !!!

Such a fantastic experience! We had the veg (vegan) banquet and every dish was incredible and we left feeling full. Staff were all so lovely and attentive, we will definitely be back!
G. L.
An absolutely great idea to serve Yum Cha. Pretty much every dish was delicious. You are served every dish on the menu and plenty enough for each party member. Then you are asked which dishes which you would want more of. Yep, a great dining experience. And, the staff are very helpful and courteous.

Fantastic restaurant and a Melbourne institution after 21yrs - congratulations! The venue & decor is open, simple, and elegant. The drinks are fantastic, the service is friendly and casual, and the food is sensational.

Service was nice, people were friendly and welcoming. Food very fresh and tasty, and great tea variety. A bit pricey but it's worth the shot.
L. K.
There unlimited yum cha is amazing. $65 for unlimited dumplings, duck etc…

Highly recommend David's if you're looking for a modern Chinese dining experience. All dishes were incredibly fresh and flavoursome, without the heaviness that your cheap Chinese takeaway sometimes has.
Our favourites were the prawn dumplings, which had chunks of real prawn. A step up from the prawn mince used at other restaurants. The sweet eggplant and rainbow trout also highlights.
The interior of the restaurant is beautiful. It has a relaxed vibe that allows for a very pleasant dining experience. The fact that it's BYO is the cherry on top!

Tucked away in a quiet side street, David’s is a hidden gem. Loved the very cool white decor - not what we were expecting at all. Service was very attentive and friendly.
The food was simply sensational! Every single dish we ordered was divine. The chicken and the pork belly were standouts. The dumplings were great too. Delicious desserts too - the plums and the roasted white chocolate were wonderful! And they were beautifully plated up.
We will definitely be back to try all the other dishes on the menu. Highly recommend!
R. W.
Came in for the set menu on a Sunday, the food was amazing and service was really good, especially as the food started coming really quickly! Loved the white choc dumplings they served for dessert
M. R.
Always enjoyed the dining experience at David’s, whether for dinner or their excellent yum cha on weekends.
Their service is always excellent, friendly / attentive and very accommodating with dietary requirements.
Food is delicious and made for sharing so I’d recommend inviting more friends so that you can experience a broad range of their great dishes.
E. K.
One of the oldest Asian establishments in the area. They serve modern asian dishes coupled with excellent service. The food and service is somewhat semi fine-dine and the taste I would say are quite westernised.
The beef and the trout are the stars. It was tasty and moist. They don't have high chairs, only booster seat.
Food - 7
Service - 9
Vibe - 9

Went to Unlimited Yum Cha on Chinese New Years Day. Definitely have to pre book as it fills up quickly and people were turned away because it was packed out. The service was great. Staff were friendly and efficient. Lots of food came out, more than we could eat! Great value for money. Before dessert came out they offered us to pick any of our favourites to come out again if desired. Couldn't resist the prawn dumplings again! Everything was yum and well presented. Would definitley go back

Visited on a Monday night with warm welcome to a calming low lit atmosphere. Wait staff weren't overly expert on the cuisine however were friendly, personable and extremely hospitable - ensuring we had plenty of warm water which was nice. Ordered an expansive potentially excessive range of meals, with my personal favorite the Peking Duck - super succulent and tasty and high contender to the best Peking Duck I've ever had (big call right?) and the recommended green onion noodle (simple yet delicious). Glazed Vinegar veal rib was also a standout but as we ordered a fair amount we had to take most of this dish away which no problems in doing so. Mixed feelings over the dessert in which we tried 3 of the 4 options, enjoyed the tea and chocolate cake however the pear tart was too much on the sweet end for us left us yearning for fresh cream. Beautiful plating and sweet partings, definitely recommend a visit!

What a great place for everything from dumplings to duck. So good we demolished the food before I had a chance to take a pic. The decor is very homely and modern and the service is fabulous from the welcome to the very end. I love this place and will definitely be back.
S. R.
Went on a Friday night for Yum Cha. Delicious, fresh and generous. Service was amazing and friendly. Decor is very sweet, modern and clean. Covid safety adhered to. Can’t wait to return.

Been to David's several times; this time has been very different. I remember my first experience at David's, flavor and presentation of food was not the best.
Tonight was one of the best meal's I've had at David's restaurant; massive improvement, clean flavors and modern presentation. As each plate of food was served, i can see the love and passion put into preparing that dish. In addition to my dining experience, i would like to thank Christine for organizing the meal for us. Keep up the fantastic work !! I will be back again !
F. W.
Was there for launch of new menu/new chef and the food I tried on the night was probably the best I’ve ever had here. Bright, complex flavours and with real creative flair. Complements also to whoever selected the wines for the event; done with care and expertise with a focus on quality, not on novelty and how cheaply it could be done. Twenty years on, David’s might well be better than ever. Well done to all !
Was back again a few days later and again, food was terrific. Will be one of our regular places. 👍
V. A.
The food we had was really good!!! The Shanghai croissant and pork belly were so delicious!!! Everyone was very professional and friendly! The location is really nice and well decorated.
J. S. (.
We booked the Unlimited Yum Cha for $45 per person. I liked everything that was served except I wasn't a fan of the chocolate balls. I prefer the traditional red bean filling.
B. H. (.
Popped in here for a end of year team lunch. Fantastic interior, styling and ultimately very tasty food. A little slow on the service front but once the food started coming out it was better.
D. M.
Ordered pork belly chat potatoes, salt n pepper squid, fat Shanghai noodles, Peking duck, pork dumplings, beef dumplings, green onion and bamboo shoot dumplings, prawn dumpling, and wonton soup. Oh and jasmine tea. The food was really tasty. Wonton soup was out favourite but I forgot to take photos- hehe. The older woman at FOH was very catering to our needs although we didn't need much. Hospitality was good. A table next to us seemed to be upset with the fact that you had to assemble your own Peking duck but we enjoyed making our own. The woman came by and offered to assemble ours and we declined.
S. L.
David's is a really unique Chinese restaurant that mixes tradition Shanghainese food with modern flavours and techniques. The decor isn't the usual Chinese restaurant, with modern white decor and cosy atmosphere. The food and drinks was delectable and service was on point. Hot favourites were the aloe vera lime cocktails, drunken granita oysters and sticky pork belly. Mixed feelings on the wagyu dish, which had perfectly cooked beef but lacked a balance in the xo sauce.
D. W.
Excellent service. Modern, freshly-made yum cha. Great homely atmosphere & music. Just needs some more variety of dim sum. There's all-you-can-eat yum cha at certain times on weekends.
C. F.
Went for yum cha. So much food and it was really good. The pork buns were a standout.
C. N.
Davids was great, would highly recommend.
Exceptional Shanghai street food, but that hardly does it justice. Had the dumplings and whole trout, delicious. Also, such friendly and attentive staff!
J. T.
Not your typical Chinese restaurant - no red and gawdy lanterns or badly spelt menus. Great food and service. The food is cooked well and not overly priced. They do takeaways too
S. A.
Had the vegan banquet, which we were really looking forward to on account of the positive reviews. However, we were slightly disappointed with the food overall - the entrees were underwhelming, but the mains were delicious. The dumplings were nothing to write home about and the pan fried dumplings in particular reeked of fish, which was unfortunate. The eggplant main, however, was a standout. Overall, if you're vegetarian, the a la carte would be a much better option.
J. F.
Ordered vegetarian yum cha - was excited because I had heard great things. However, bit disappointed with the food. The entrees, particularly the dumplings, were a let down. The eggplant main was great though. Overall, the banquet is good if you want to have a heap of options, but it's best to come and eat a la carte.
I. S.
After an issue with my booking I am happy to say that the team went above and beyond to resolve the issue.
The service and food for Mother's Day Yum Cha was exceptional.
Thank you to the management team and all of the staff for a great dining experience.
S. B.
Excellent food. Lovely ambiance. Will definitely go again cos I regret not waiting another 10 mins for more of those steamed white chocolate Dumplings 😋
N. G.
Great ambience, decent food, staff friendly but kept forgetting to serve our food. We had to ask 4 different staff for the Peking duck and sadly by then they ran out before we could ask for seconds. They also forgot to serve our other orders for seconds and those ran out too. They were very kind to offer drinks on the house but it took another half an hour for those to come and all of us ended up getting parking tickets, so the drinks ended up costing $80 more! Top tip is 2P around the restaurant is not enough, and order seconds early on. Otherwise the food was decent but again the best dish was probably the Peking duck which we didn’t really get to enjoy!
M. G.
Food was delicious! Good atmosphere and good variety of dishes. Love the types of teas available to try. Staff are helpful and friendly too:)
D. S.
Greate Yum cha experience with small portions of different dishes. Excellent
M. R.
Ordered for heat at home and it was amazing! Delicious dumplings! Never eaten in but I can’t wait to come in once lockdown is over.
J. L.
Amazing yum cha yesterday! They went far beyond for my friend who is allergic to fish and made dishes just for her. Back to yum cha ,,, we were booked this time last for my birthday and covid cancelled it ,,so have waited a whole year for this and it did not disappoint. THANKS.
L. T.
Great location. Beautiful atheistic & relaxed atmosphere. Staff were all very nice. We had a few dietary requirements and they handled it perfectly. Great yum cha & not overpriced.
S.
Nice food, nice service! We did the 8pm all you can eat yum cha. The first round, they bring you 1 item each from the menu and afterwards you can order as much as you want of any dish! Id recommend the 8pm sitting if you are hungry and want to order lots of food. Will definitely be back :)
N. P.
For a Northside boy, David's is my comfort place Southside. The food is amazing, the staff friendly and the wine list is great (and well priced)! The Iron Buddha Beef and the Szechuan Rockling are so damn good.
T. L.
Made us wait outside with no greeting or anything to notify us what was going on.
Finally got seated wait staff werent very helpful took along time to take our drink order.
Then a long time for drinks to arrive.
Had to get attention of waiter for more water as they don’t check on you.
Food was nice cocktail was nice but that’s about it.
S. A.
Delicious selection of yum cha. Loved all the dumplings. The pork buns were great. Excellent, attentive service, nice atmosphere. Great value.
R. T.
Food was okay,
Expensive for the meal sizes.
GREAT parking nearby.
P. C.
David's never disappoints. Pleasent atmosphere, excellent customer service (special thanks to Ebony and the other gentleman who served us, sorry didn't get your name this evening). Very reasonably priced, delicious food, (authentic prawn dumplings 10/10) and you will never leave hungry.
Already looking forward to coming back.
D. M.
You know you're safe when the place has Dave or David in the title. Friendly staff, great range of drinks and the food just keeps coming. Will definitely return.
A. E.
Had a delicious dinner at David’s dumplings. The food was decadent and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. Definitely would recommend!
A. M.
The spring onion noodles tasted good. Steak texture good. Portion wise doesn't match with the price. Environment was relaxing. Waiters attentive and lovely. There's free 1P parking at the roadside and another free 2P parking nearby the shop.
A. N.
Great food and service but they are misleading about being an "all you can eat" restaurant, because we asked for more of the chocolate dumplings but they said no, even though it's on the all you can eat menu.
I would recommend they stop being an all you can eat place, because I don't thing they want to be.
m. m.
Went to the Sunday all you can eat session. Delicious food - Best bbq pork buns and friend chicken ribs in Melbourne. Excellent customer service.
Y. P.
Best yum cha place that I’ve ever been too. The food was great, but the hospitality was second to none. My friend and I came 10 minutes late but the staff were so accommodating and even ordered us the food that we missed out on too. They were all so lovely. The food was also exceptional. Dessert was definitely the winner for us! Yum! Would definitely recommend to everyone to try out this place and we will most certainly be coming back here!
M. C.
The food was delicious, well worth a 5! But the whole providoor cook-it-yourself arrangement was quite the ordeal and more akin to cooking one's own meal than actually getting take out (actually having 4 burners on the go simultaneously, it's probably more hassle than cooking usually). That said, aside from them forgetting to include the chilli oil for the chilli pork dumplings (kinda important!), the food was delicious. We look forward to going there when lockdown is over. Just avoid the providoor experience if you're after a breezy night in; it's not that.
C. A. C.
Best contemporary Chinese cuisine I have ever had. The chef selected for us and every dish was sublime. Also the waiting staff were warm and attentive from start to finish! I loved this evening at David’s!
Don’t miss this culinary gem if you are in Melbourne.
L. T.
Always great to come here for Yum Cha. The service and staff are great 👍👍👍
C. R.
Great food and service! Only thing I wasn't happy with: I booked for 8 people and only later found out we had to choose a banquet because this was the policy for groups of 8+ people. I could not find this written on the website anywhere, not even on the 'large group policy' page! You really should make it clearer to people before they book that they're going to have to spend at least $55 per person on a banquet.
E. D.
Ordered during lockdown 5.0…. Amazing !!!!! Flavour is beyond and the white chocolate dumplings are divine… thanks for making lockdown a little brighter
L. H.
Had an amazing dinner here, the host (Christine) did a wonderful job catering for my vegetarian mother and working her meals into the banquet with a mix of group dishes and individual vegetarian dishes. Made for a pleasant and smooth dining experience. Would definitely come here again!
A. D.
Amazing! Went here today for Mother's Day and already thinking about when I could go back. The food was such good quality and so much of it. The staff were excellent. I have a seafood allergy and the staff gave me a list of what I could and couldn't eat so I felt comfortable eating here. Can't recommend this place enough. You must go!
A. B.
An amazing experience. Make sure you bring extra tight socks because the Pork Bao's will knock your socks clean off. Beyond delicious 😌🥟
C. T.
We’ve been here 3 times for weekend yum cha, twice was excellent but the last time (yesterday) was really disappointing. The food is great however the service was terrible - the staff were lazy, unattentive and slow. We weren’t asked if we wanted more savoury dishes before the desserts came out. We had to ask for water multiple times. None of the dishes were explained to us. We also had to share TWO plates of food between 10 people, on either end of a long table - meaning those seated in the middle struggled to get any food. The staff didn’t help make space on our table to place a birthday cake - rather we had to do this ourselves. All round a disappointing experience for my husbands birthday.
A. G.
Lovely yum Cha just off chapel street. Classy venue & tasty food. Would recommend. Great service too.
S. S.
Had a fantastic dinning experience at David's last night. We shared the $55 chef's selection; food was delicious and plentiful. Service was wonderful; very friendly and attentive and the restaurant's decor is lovely; all white and warm soft lighting. Will definitely be going back and would easily recommend!
Z. W.
Food was delicious! Service was wonderful! Made a special effort for my birthday which was very sweet. We did the feasting menu which was a great way to do it considering we hadn’t been before. A good sample of lots of their good dishes! Must have dishes included the Shanghai dumplings, ribs and the white chocolate and goji Berry dumplings! Amazing! Also, the Paloma cocktail is a winner!
F. F.
What a lovely way to spend Xmas eve with family and friends... From booking the restaurant over the phone to the service, food and laughs in the restaurant - just fantastic. Christine and Iris were such great hosts and really looked after us. We went for the banquet option and my goodness it was all delicious! We left feeling very happy, full and definitely planning to go back to David’s again very soon!
A.
First restaurant visit out of COVID and it was well worth it. Went for the all you can eat yum cha. Food was delicious, staff where friendly and attentive, place has a great atmosphere. Only downside was limit to time at table but completely understand with dining restrictions.
V. T.
By no means am I a yum cha expert, but I had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We went for the Sunday lunch, and the variety in yum cha was both impressive and delicious. At one point I thought it might be too much food, but wasn't to be....the portions and servings were just right and well spread apart. The service was nicely paced and the staff was gentle and polite. Great food and ambience.
S. P.
We came for a team celebration lunch and had the $65pp banquet. The atmosphere and staff were nice but the portions were very small and at least a few of us left still hungry. The quality of the food was ok, but it wasn't anything special.
L. A.
The most modern, clean and delicious Chinese I have had.
You leave feeling full but not unwell from
Grease. The staff are attentive and beautiful.
The rainbow trout is unbelievable and also the yum cha menu.
I have yet to be disappointed by anything on the menu!
Peking duck is also a must 👍🏼
S. J.
It’s a bit of a risk, this remote order food game. Lasagne 1.5cm thick or enough beef casserole for two small elves.
David’s Father’s Day Yum Cha Feast was enough for several hefty fathers – and Měiwèi de.
Our Baby Boi (some baby at 45+) had chosen carefully and well.
Chuck your delicious-quality yum cha items into some bamboo steamers (stainless steel really is not authentic). Just make a fat pot of black Green Tea or Genmaicha (to confuse cultures) or break out a King Valley prosecco, follow the easy and comprehensive directions to heat the cooked pork ribs (with extra sauce) the gong bo chicken (ditto) and the fried rice.
There was a serve of mini spring rolls and steamed custard dumpling-ish gadgets – enough to form another meal with left over rice and the remnants of a huge serve of Chinese broccoli to steam with oyster sauce.
S. M.
Great staff and great food. Will definitely go again!
B. M.
Excellent food, not overpriced either. Will be back!. Tried several different types of dumplings (even the dessert ones! Amazing!) as well as their mains. All very good, and very filling. Only criticism is that this place is NOISY! It was only half-full, and I could barely hear my friends. Other than that, the place is spot on. Love it.
J. W.
Excellent service and high quality food. Many thanks
M. R. (.
Arrived a half hour late for the first lunch session but staff made sure I got plenty of delicious yum cha. Excellent across the board: food, service, atmosphere. Steamed dumpling variety basket, fried variety plate, duck pancakes all superb. Highly recommended if you enjoy quality yum cha and don't mind paying for it. Ate too much but I don't regret it!
A. C.
Coming from a Chinese background, I was skeptical at first about how authentic the dishes would be. But after dining there last night, I was really quite impressed. David's is a great example of how a Chinese restaurant can excel in modernising authentic Chinese food, and still maintain its traditional Chinese flavours. Delicious food + Excellent customer service — will definitely be back.
C. P.
Absolutely fantastic dining experience! Hubby, bubby and I ventured out last minute for yum cha and WOW, we couldn't have had a better time. We were accommodated for last minute and were made to feel so welcome when we arrived. The food is a cut above, great variety and the drinks are fantastic, especially the chilled signature tea with mint etc. Dessert was so amazing, not something I'd usually order, however I'm so in love with what was bought out to us! I won't share too much, go experience this for yourself! Can't wait to go again! Thank you David's!
M. S.
We had been trying to book into David’s for Sunday YumCha for some time as they offer gluten feee options for my wife.
Today we were successful and booked a table of 4 and enjoyed some yumcha lunch.
The food was quite nice, we are a lot and tried all they had to offer.
Our favourite was the salt and pepper calamari, the prawn spring roll, the white chocolate dumpling and the duck.
We only had jasmine tea and mineral water however that was just enough.
For adults, it’s great value. You can eat enough to roll out.
For kids 5 and under, not great value. Our kids only had a nibble of ours and stop had to pay the $45 each, so next time we would try not to take them with us.
Overall it was a good experience - we won’t go back with kids but would maybe do it once a year.
Thank you for having us!
B. W.
Delicious meal & friendly service!
We went here for lunch with the $40 yum cha special. A bit different to standard yum cha which we loved, maybe not everyone would agree, but for us, we were thrilled that chicken feet were nowhere to be seen, instead we enjoyed tea smoked steak and other interesting dishes amongst some of the more expected yum cha fare.
Staff are friendly and helpful, they also asked if there was anything in particular we wanted more of when we stopped eating, thinking we were waiting for a particular fish- however we were just too full to continue!
Great place for friendly, fun atmosphere.
S. D.
Love the yum cha, look forward to going back there when we can, but in the mean time their food on providoor.com.au is fun to cook.... I know, I sound like an ad ! ...but they make great food :)
J.
Great food served in a lovely environment by friendly staff.
The food is delicious, love the crab meat fried rice and the shanghai noodles here. The atmosphere is great, and the staff are all well spoken, well mannered and friendly. It is a little on the pricey side, but worth a try.
M.
Very Innovative, not your stock standard yum cha. There were modern twists on classic dishes as well as all the favorites. I felt like it was almost likes fine dining 16 course tasting menu. Great eating would eat again.
S. L.
Great food with variety for an All-You-Can-Eat Yum-Cha on Saturday for lunch. The service was good and any extra food requested was given with a smile. Recommend booking in advance and to definitely try this place out for a different Chinese Cuisine setting.
F. E.
Beautiful food and service. Even the bar staff spoiled my teen daughter with a personally tailored mocktail. Warning-do not eat at all before you go!
D. T.
The yum cha was awesome, we were well hosted. Took a bit of time to get in on the 2nd seating but we'll worth the wait.
A. S.
Just came from having a wonderful dinner at this beautiful place. Great service from our host Christine too. Food was amazing. You have to try their sticky Pork belly, it was one of the best ive ever had, so tender and melt in the mouth!!!
K. S.
I recently celebrated my birthday at David's with 50 guests for Saturday yum cha lunch. Not having dined here previously, we could not have been more delighted. I have enjoyed yum cha from Hong Kong to New York to our own Chinatown. This was the best I've ever had. Not only was every dish delicious, with endless variety, but the fabulous waitstaff kept the food coming until we could eat no more. David's BYO policy allowed us to bring our preferred wines, and our glasses were never empty. Our group comprised adults and children of all ages, from toddlers to great grandparents, several with food allergies and special requests. All needs were accommodated without fuss. Special thanks to Christine who made the day fabulous in every regard. My friends are still raving about it, and will all return to dine here again. You should too. You won't regret it!
C. P.
Amazing food. Ordered delivery and delivered the next day fresh and easy to follow cooking instructions. Would recommend David’s to anyone. Wow! Sooo tasty. Thank you. Clint.
M. M.
Yum cha @ David's is a must!! Absolute value for money. So much food with so much variety. Delicious. I loved the trays of cocktails that were offered to all. Hard to resist!!!
J. G.
Service and staff are the strong point of this place, food was decent tasting but super over priced for the size of servings ( 2 small bowls of steamed rice in the banquet for 5 people). Also drinks over prices $10 for a pot of beer. Better places right around the corner so not recommend.
J. D.
I had the all you can eat yum cha. Best thing about experience was the space. Dumplings a bit and miss. Some dumpling skins were gluggy and too think. Fried rice had little flavour. Staff were hospitable.
M. P.
I found it was a little odd to have to give credit card details to book. When we arrived, it was pleasant. Staff were friendly. As time went on though, service wasn't as good - possibly because they were busy. We went for the 'unlimited yumcha' and I can see why people say it is not yum cha - there are no trolleys and the menu is different. Staff just go around table to table, giving one sample-sized serve per customer. There were a good selection of food which mainly comprised of staple chinese food in a standard menu, with a few that you would find in yum cha (shu mai). Though it is advertised to be 'unlimited', it was in fact, limited (when we asked for more, they say yes and never brought it out despite following up a few more times). The 'unlimited yum cha' is basically a $40 banquet where the food served are just small samples of a typical menu. Most dishes are good, but overall we feel it is not worth $40 at all as food was limited (I feel it is wrongly advertised), and paced throughout the session. And there's card charges at the end too so if you do not pay by cash, you'll be hit with a little extra.
D. H.
Amazing! I can’t wait to come back! Food is delicious! Staff were superb! Extremely attentive, polite and great to deal with! Manager on duty today was great to talk to and took pride in her job which was great to see! David would be proud and should be proud of this amazing establishment! Can’t speak highly enough of it! Try David’s iced tea!
S. P.
The ambience for our dinner was lovely. The waiters were attentive and personable, made sure we enjoyed our meal throughout the night.
The food was lovely as well and the restaurant itself is beautiful.
C. N.
Best yum cha that I've ever had. All you can eat for $38 on Saturday was a bargain, given the variety and freshness of each dish. Will never eat yum cha anywhere else again! Thanks guys for the amazing food and awesome service this morning!
e. v.
I have organised Catering through David's twice for a work function and both times it has been absolutely superb. The food is amazing and arrived at exactly the time we requested. It was very well organised. Christine made some suggestions to our menu selections which were fantastic and gave us a wider variety of menu items. She also ensured we were able to stay within our budget. An enjoyable experience and I very highly recommend David's.
M. B.
Delicious food. Decal is very beachy. They let you choose if you want ant extra at the end. Almost 5 stars but they pinged us $10 for a pot of Jasmin tea, thought it was included....
Y. W.
We've had great time dinning there.
overall very good food, cosy atmosphere
fantastic service.
surprisingly good whisky list.
R. L.
Loved the Yum Cha, the ambience of the space and the great service. David's Iced Tea is darn good too!
J. S.
Absolutely delicious, great for family and friends and amazing friendly staff. Our favorite yum cha in Melbourne!
N. E.
Some of the best Shanghai style food I've had. Amazing cocktails and food. Their pork belly is great and their dumplings are to die for! Scrumptious and delicious
D. L.
Wow. Stumbled across David's accidentally, what a lucky find! Best yum cha I have ever had, and I've had a few...! My first reaction on coming in was great funky decor, and then hmm, maybe $38 a head is a bit steep for yum cha. I was wrong and quickly changed my mind! Everything was exceptional quality, fresh and hand-made, and you don't often see Peking Duck pancakes served in yum cha! Staff are also great - friendly, professional and engaging. We'll be back!!

It's very noisy, service a bit slow, food was very nice but best to have something to eat before you go, as the quantity of food is minimal, presentation of food ok but still hungry afterwards. Way too expensive for what you get. Overall, this restaurant is pretentious but has some potentual.
I. B.
Was super impressed with the décor as soon as we walked into David’ Prahan, an unassumingly trendy fit out that felt intimate but modern. The food was a real winner. I’d recommend all of their dumplings, really light wrappers and high quality produce.
Loved the sweet chunky eggplant from 'David's favourites' Menu as part of the main course and the pork and spinach dumplings in a peanut and chilli soy.
I’d say this place is suitable for date nights, bdays or a catch up with friends.

Booked through Open table. Busy Saturday night. Great food, lovely service (not too much or too little) drinks were amazing, all covid practices in place.
D. B.
We've been here quite a few times, most recently for an outstanding New Year's Dinner! By far and away our favourite yum cha joint in Melbourne.
K.
I love this place. The food is amazing and what is the best part about it is the amazing customer experience, every waiter is so lovely, helpful and makes you feel wonderful. Will recommend this to anyone
J. T.
It has evolved ..... in a good way, no lazy Susan revolving anywhere.
It has evolved since 1989, a few off shoots all over Melbourne; CBD, Chadstone and Chapel St.
Renovated, good taste, classic post-modern Oriental, very cozy inside, casual, relax, none of that Chinese restaurant "rush" feeling.
Food wise, we went for the Monday Pork Feast $62 x 2 for the 5 of us .... Shanghai Pork Belly was the highlight easily.
Must commend on their presentation and fantastic service from this new generation Australian Chinese, albeit one, he probably wasn't having a good night.
Great to see their new spin of Chinese food brand ... definitely got potential, don't look for that lazy Susan on any table.

The place looks really nice, went in for lunch and I hadn't even taken my jacket off when I was asked for drinks. Food and drinks were really good but I believe it to be a bit overpriced. Great experience overall.
R. H.
I had my birthday lunch here with 27 friends and they handled us so well!! Delicious food that just kept on coming. Thanks Christine, you are a Queen!!
I. J.
Really great service and nice ambiance, but the food was underwhelming. We went for yumcha and while one of two of the dishes were great the majority were bland or oily, sadly wouldn't go back.
M. W.
Simple, clean decor, friendly, helpful and attentive staff and amazing modern Chinese food. Perfect spot for a catchup dinner, I will most certainly be back to try their weekend yum cha!
G. S.
Very interesting fusion restaurant. Good to try and good quality.
M. M.
One of the best restaurants in Melbourne. We had the celebration banquet and it was so much food, we couldn't even finish it. The service was great and we had a nice night
A. W.
One of the most reliable Chinese eateries in South Yarra and always accommodating to late diners. Highly recommended. Beware the excess chilies on the chicken ribs!!
B. M.
Very attentive staff, friendly and accommodating. Great yum cha. Tables a little too close together and does get a little warm inside
M. Z.
Exceptional food, brilliant staff and a great wine list. What's not to like? Make sure you book ahead and take the time to enjoy your experience.
j. B.
My family brought me here while holidaying over from Perth
The venue and decor is amazing, I loved the funky set up while it was still that little bit stylish yet relaxing
We had the tasting lunch of all the dishes, a few of the dishes I didn't like but that was more to personal tastes and cannot be expected to like everything on the menu
The food was cooked and prepared to perfection, the rice paper prawn rolls were an absolute favourite
Could not fault anything about my experience
S. M.
So the food was subpar and the some of the service was a bit pushy.
C.
Amazing food and even better service. They were super accommodating! Cant wait to go back!
F. D.
Delicious food, gorgeous atmosphere, with great service. The pork belly melted in your mouth, snd banoffee deep fried wontons were amazing!
T. C.
Outstanding Chinese food. Great customer service. Stunning interior. Will be definitely coming back again soon.
E. T.
Rarely ever cross the ditch but David's is worth crossing the river for! Great yum cha, love the interior and the atmosphere. Service is next to none. Look forward to my annual crossing to the otherside for a visit to David's.
C. M.
was there on Mother's day 2014, with my.daughter Ali Buckley, and my two grandkids, impressive, not like the typical Little B, yum cha. Loved the food, going there again.with my friend.Ada, on April 18.
T. L.
Not your traditional yum cha restaurant. They have catered well for their location. Service was excellent and I enjoyed my dining experience there.
J. M.
We lunch here often and get takeaway. It's always good quality and the food is of a high standard in a lovely relaxed setting.
A. L.
Laid-back modern/industrial throughout look and feel Food drinks and plus to ur heart content Easy breezy on with the service manners Youthful and full of delight for a perfect Sunday arvo yam cha session All deserving of my 5 stars ratings
PS
Apparently my second time over
Kids know best 😘
L. B.
Very generous with quantity and choice. A buzzing Shanghai Yum Cha with great service. One of the special places to share Sunday lunch.
M. N.
Soooooo gooood! High quality yum cha absolutely worth it. Had my birthday here and everyone was super happy, especially me!
V. B.
Thank you for the Best time! Amazing Dishes Last night LOve the Fish! Staff was Just Amzing and Friendly!!
B. C.
Really well presented and good style. Very nice food. Nice to spicy , but heaps of flavour, 👍
J. M.
I once gave David's a five star review but recent visits reduced our opinion purely based on the service. Seems to be when busy, certain tables get forgotten about but others are showered in attention.
R. H.
Love their weekend yum cha. Absolutely delicious..
M. B.
The food was very nice, but the atmosphere is lacking and the staff are not as attentive compared to Choi's, but there are a few menu items I'll certainly be going back for. Especially the spicy chicken.
J. T.
Not your typical Chinese restaurant - no red and gawdy lanterns or badly spelt menus. Great food and service. The food is cooked well and not overly priced. They do takeaways too
L. L.
Great food and friendly staff. The vegan Yum Cha on Wednesday nights is amazing!
G. E.

It's good value but not 100% traditional asian yum char. Some dishes catered for western taste

We love coming here for a Sunday yum cha session. The staff are so good and the food can't be beaten.
E. F.
Great food, friendly staff but food service slow. Over-represented for what it is. Better value in CBD or Box Hill.
J. M.
Amazing food. Charming atmosphere. And some of the loveliest, attentive hospitality staff in Melbourne.
T. H.
Awesome all you can eat yum cha. Not a buffet, everything comes to your table piping hot and delicious.
S. B.

Very good honest food . I find the staff are not so friendly and always attempt to push you into over ordering.
K. Z.
Nice place for quite dinner. Food is good. A little bit too sweat.

M. P.
I found it was a little odd to have to give credit card details to book. When we arrived, it was pleasant. Staff were friendly. As time went on though, service wasn't as good - possibly because they were busy. We went for the 'unlimited …
L. B.
Best Yum Cha in Melbourne!
A. T.
Enjoyed a mother's day yum cha session with a twist..
D. L.
Wow. Stumbled across David's accidentally, what a lucky find! Best yum cha I have ever had, and I've had a few...! My first reaction on coming in was great funky decor, and then hmm, maybe $38 a head is a bit steep for yum cha. I was wrong …

(Translated) The taste is different from the imagination, I think it may be more suitable for the taste of non-Asian people. Based on my personal taste, I can only give to Samsung. However, the clerk's service attitude is very good, so the total rating is 4 stars.

口味与想象不同,我想可能更适合非亚裔人群的口味。基于我个人口味,只能给三星。但店员服务态度很好,所以总评4星。
