Comments of Dodee Paidang

Very modern basement restaurant with online ordering via Mr Yum (connect to their wifi) and 2 robots to deliver to the table. The famous noodle bowls are huge and very generous with seafood. Even level 1 was quite hot so I would advise any first time to try the lower levels as condiments such as chilli oil and powder are available at the self serve stand to add on if needed. We ordered the seasonal fish special which was great but had quite a kick of spice with no chillies on the menu. We loved the coconut mousse, coconut milk ice cream and mango sticky rice desserts too.

Went here to try the spicy noodles since I love spicy food. Ordered the hottest one on the menu (Super Nova) and it did not disappoint. It wasn't that spicy at first but it definitely builds the more you eat. My friends that weren't that into spice ordered other things that looked great too. The only thing I took a star off for was that my noodles weren't that hot temperature-wise. They used the robot waitress to send the food to us but we were so far from the kitchen that I think my noodles were almost room temp by the time they got to me. Also note that you'll have a long wait if you don't arrive before 6:30.

absolutely delicious, we came at 7pm, which was a good time because by 9pm there was a huge line for dine in.
unfortunately their aircon is not strong, so we're sweating in 25+ degree heat.
delicious green chicken curry, soft shell crab and yummy spring rolls.
S. L.
We ordered the dodee noodles level 2 and level 5. Level 5 is really spicy and you would sweat and burn eating it, but worth it as it is delicious. The noodles were springy, pork ribs were tender and we enjoyed the spiciness and portion was good as well. However, we didn’t quite like some of the other ingredients in the dish. The fried wanton skin wasn’t as crispy and tasted a little stale. The mock sausages also tasted a little odd, might be better to replace that with minced pork. Green curry was decent but for that, the portion was really small.

I am a regular at Dodee and just love the service, warm greetings from the staff and the quality of the food. My mum is in a wheelchair and the assistance of the staff to make mum and my experience is exceptional.
The food is extremely lovely and fresh. Highly recommend this place to anyone who just loves wholesome Thai food.
F.
It’s actually open over the Christmas/New Year period despite what Google says. Take note of the spice level though, we got the level 3 Tom yum noodles and it was so spicy (I’d like to think my spice tolerance is pretty high…). Staff were absolutely nice though and got us the non spicy soup. Despite that, the food is amazing!
J.
I love this restaurant!! Thai Holy Basil dish is amazing. It's really rare to find real holy basil dishes in Melbourne. Also Bella robot serving is so cool. She sings a song when she is walking around to serve. We would come back again and again.
W. T.
One of my favourite places to dine !!! Cutest spot inside, menu I love ! One of the best soft chill crab dishes I have had, green curry had the perfect spice. Also was a big fun of their milk tea ! Have gone back and will continue to. Friendly staff who also explained some of the dishes I was un sure of
S. L.
Great lively basement eating hall. It is busy around 6pm onwards for dinner. I recommend getting here early to secure a seat/table/spot in the queue.
It's self-service for cutlery, water and bowls.
The robot waitstaff are a fun novelty but could also possibly be a hazard as they could knock into your chair if you sit too far from the table!
Plus the restaurant gives you a 10% discount for paying cash on the spot, and purchases over $50 can be claimed for the current Melbourne Money promotion!
N. H.
Such a nice and busy restaurant. Foods was authentic and tasty . Quick services .. Even better with a Robot serving foods
M. T.
Delicious Thai located in the heart of Melbourne.
We come here regularly and the serving are great, flavoursome and seasoned well, the food is always on point. The atmosphere is bustling and lively and tables fill up quickly. They have live music on certain days.
We order 9 different dishes to share between 5 and the food comes out pretty fast.
Keaw tod - Quail Egg wrapped in a wonton fried.
Satay chicken skewers
Chinese broccoli with Pork
Esan sausage
Pu pad see karee
Crying tiger
Make sure to arrive early because there’s no bookings. Order via the QR code on your table.
There’s a discount to those who pay by cash.

Very busy place, delicious desserts!
18 Nov 2021
For sides had "Tum Kai Kem". Boiled egg-green papaya- lime juice+dried shrimps-carrot-tomato topped with peanut. It's definitely a spicy.
Satay chicken - it's chickens on skewers with sweet sauce & salad.
Mains : dodee m16 large(mild tasting glass noodle soup with fish balls, pork slices +topped with crisps). It's felt it's not my liking yet!
Dodee 4 kings jumbo - good one.
But both having noodle been a overkill.
Dessert : We ordered Thai coconut balls with ice cream (5/5) & durain sticky rice dessert. (4/5)
Conclusion : food is fine, ok. But Dessert are fantastic. The place is very crowded so that speaks.
R. W.
The food is decent actually I'm surprised that the serving is quite huge as normally Thai restaurant have quite small food serving.
We order a number of dishes like tomyum, Pad Thai, crab omelette, sliced beef.
J. M.
Got the Dodee monster, fish cakes and Pad Kee Mao. All delicious and great atmosphere + plus robot delivering your meals. The dodee was spicy. I got level 2 out of 7 and my mouth became the fires of Mt Doom. I’m normally pretty good with spice too so just a word of warning. Will go again tho!
B. S.
Delicious food, huge portions, and good prices - what more could one ask for! The customer service is surely something to remember.
J. V.
Amazingly good food at pretty reasonable prices. Never disappointed whenever I dine in or get food delivered from here. Waiting times for delivery can sometimes be longer than usual but no surprise considering how busy they always are.
Manager/owner's responses on negative reviews always make me laugh. Keep it up.
S. L.
Great noodle texture. Had the level 2 spice level was pretty good. My sister had the level 5 and she loved it as well although was really spicy n her mouth was on fire. Also had the Thai fish cake which was pretty good. The pork sausage thingy in the noodle wasn't the greatest but the pork ribs thingy was super trendy and nice!
y. y.
The environment is comfortable and clean, the service is good, and the food is delicious. We definitely order their fried bread every time, it is delicious with custard sauce! Highly recommend everyone to try this Thai meal! Five stars!!
M.
We love it here! My partner is Thai and says it’s about as authentic as you can get here in Melbourne. We have come multiple times and are always super happy and super satisfied. The wait times can vary, there are times we have gone straight in and others we have waited over an hour - however it is worth the wait. The only fault we’ve had is that the sticky rice is either over cooked or under soaked or both? So it has been hard each time. Other than that the food and experience is great!
B. M.
Very busy basement Thai restaurant. We had to wait for approx 30 minutes for a table for 2 but once we ordered, the food came quite quickly. The crispy pork belly left a bit to be desired but the curry and stir fry were delicious. This place reminds me of a busy eatery in Bangkok. Would highly recommend for a different experience with good food guaranteed.
K. N.
One of the best places, awesome food and great service. Best thai food ever 😍
C. K.
We have fell in love with this place in the basement of Little Colin Street! Amazing Thai food. So glad we decided to check this place out. The green curry, pork bone soup, pla tod lui suan (fish) and bbq squid are super delish and appetising. Desserts are awesome too! The wait time may be longer during peak hours. If you don't want to wait, be there first thing the restaurant opens. As it is an online ordering system, worth to know what you want to eat then order all at once rather than having to do it twice or more (less wait time 😜). We have been here twice this month so far 😀. Next visit, will check our their Thai noodles! Enjoy your visit!!!
D. J.
Cute place with much on the menu to choose from. The sides, main course and dessert were delicious. Word to the wise, if you aren't sure if you can handle spice level 1, don't get it. We still can't understand how there are 4 levels of spice, when the first one destroyed us.
P.s. They have an adorable robot that sometimes delivers meals to your table, quite fun and exciting
a. p.
Quality and fast service beef massanan was really good, and the pad thai was delicious big portions and good prices.
T.
One of the best (if not the Best) Thai street eats in Melbourne.
Boat noodles will bring you all the way back to Bangkok.
There’s a reason why this place is always jam packed! Especially not being able to travel, come here have a bowl of boat noodles or Thai desserts or drinks on Weekends after 9pm while listening to Thai live jams and you’re in Thailand for the next few hours.
Great food with always friendly service.
V. J.
What a lovely discovery! As the place is located in the basement level of the building, I was surprised to discover it's a huge restaurant! Amazing for gatherings with friends. I had the Pad Thai and it was delicious. The service was highly efficient, friendly, and the prices totally reasonable.
S. A.
Very nice food and atmosphere. The phad thai was excellent. The robot food server was a nice touch.
S. N.
Best Thai restaurant, our last dining experience was 5 out of 5. Seriously, we ordered 5 dishes and all of them are incredible delicious. Please keep this standard food consistency. Definitely come back :)
R. N. S. B.
I've been a few times it's really nice, not to expensive and has robots that bring food to you wich is amazing. They have cute little cat ears.
Sometimes there are issues with there ordering system and the food prep time can be pretty variable if it's croweded
F. C.
Omg this place is so good!
Loved the pad thai and crab omelette particularly, and the thai milk tea is a must-have for a meal here.
The portions were big and the prices were reasonable. The staff were welcoming and friendly too!
K. S.
Well price tasty food
Would recommend people who like Thai food 😋
S. L.
The restaurant serves the best Thai noodle which is unique and delicious. The portions are filling and reasonable as compared to the prices. On top of that, the customer services are excellent. The foods are served real fast and presented stunning.
Look forward to returning.
M. H.
Went here with my friends. I really love their noodle soups, perfect after a night out of drinking. The place is very spacious and staff are attentive.
S. C.
Dodee's Green Curry is the best dish I've had in Melbourne. Not the best curry, not the best Thai food, the best dish, period. Everything I've eaten from the menu has been a cut above similar dishes at other Thai restaurants in Melbourne. Eat here.
I. B.
Arrived at 6:30pm on a Thursday and there was already a massive queue - good thing it moved quickly! Ended up waiting only 20 mins. Really tasty food and fast service... don’t think, just go! We loved the Pork neck “salad”. The crab fried rice was tasty but I would have liked larger chunks of crab meat...
B. P. T.
The variety noodles I had were among the best I've had in Melbourne, full of flavour highly recommend!! Tip: I can handle spicy foods pretty well and level 2 was borderline safe for me. I did try level 3 a few days later and I couldn't eat more than a few mouthfuls.
J. Y.
Various menu options and Great taste of Thai!
As a big fan of Thai foods, I’d like to try all of Dodee’s menus. I’ve tried about 10 of each different plates and they were absolutely amazing. I already bring few of my friends to this place. All of them like Dodee and raised their thumbs up. Thank you for all good foods and See you soon, Dodee 🥳
J. S.
One of the best Thai places I've been to in CBD, where you might have to stand in queue for a while, but you will get a table sooner than you think.
We came here a couple of times, and I always order the noodle soup DoDee Island (Tom Yum noodles with seafood) with fresh thin rice noodles. I tried level 3 & level 5 in two different occasions, and have to say that their spice level is no joke! Still didn't stop me from enjoying the food and everything about this noodle soup.
My partner ordered the Pad Thai, and he loved it as well.
This is THE place to come for Thai noodle soups that is not just amazing, but cheap! Just make sure you know your spice level :)
R. F.
Super spicy tomyum! I like the ambiance, as if I’m stepping into Thailand! Service was quick. Meat are all well marinated, the pad thai was a little too sweet for me. The menu is pretty big, I might return again to try the curries, som tum and desserts.
A. L.
When you first arrive at Dodee you could easily mistake it as a small takeaway but just 1 shop away, down a stairway is a full sized restaurant in a basement.
You cannot book here and there is usually a line during peak hours.
Everything we had here was really good.
Flavoursome, decent portion sizes and cooked perfectly.
The green curry was the highlight, thick, creamy and bursting with flavour.
d. b.
Look I have the coriander gene and the Thai green curry had coriander so to me it tasted like dish soap. But it’s okay priced and beyond what I couldn’t eat, it tasted good. There’s no hot drinks though which is something I always want!

My favourite Thai restaurant in Melbourne.
So many variety of food to choose from and absolutely delicious. Fast service and great atmosphere
K. Z.
Hands down best green curry I’ve ever had in Melbourne!! Lovely ambience at night on the weekends with live band who nicely fulfilled my thai song request. Food is decently priced for the amount and delicious! Would come back again :)
J. W.
tasty food !! sure everyone like here! come try it😘
S. W.
Very nice Thai restaurant, super busy too. The food is delicious and price reasonable, but don't try their spicy food over level 3 if you are not a chilli lover. Highly recommend their pork skewer. Just order anything you like on the menu, you won't get wrong.
S. B.
Hidden gem! Loved the food hated the queue, but it was definitely Worth the wait. It can get super busy on a Friday night, but service had been excellent and always with a smile. The taste brought back memories of Bangkok where I lived several years ago. If you are looking for a quiet sit and dine kinda place, this may not be the one as it can get annoyingly noisy. Last but not least.. Its not expensive
M.
A Melbournian favorite Thai Restaurant that does not disappoint. I particularly like the way they prepare their deep fried barramundi to make easy, delicious eating - crispy skin with moist flesh, and just right, tangy sauce.
There is some Covid changes that probably needs getting used to - we had to scan a barcode to order our dishes and drinks on-line, pay for it in full Before being seated, and then at the table, scan another bar code again to register ourselves.
i am not sure why we cannot be seated first and then scan a code at the table, once, to order our dishes, drinks and to check in?!
M. N.
Very busy restaurant and understandbly why. Food is delicious. Great atmosphere. The noodle soup is delicious however when with one level of spice, is quite spicy, even for a person that enjoys spice in their food. So beware. Other than that, all food was delicious and staff were nice. Would come back.
C. C.
This is becoming my favourite Thai place in Melbourne. Each dish is full of flavour and the tastes match our Thailand Street experiences. Need to queue up for dinner, but well worth the wait. The boat noodles can be quite spicy so opt for level 1 the first time you visit and grade up with subsequent meals.
S. W.
Tucked in the basement of some alley, this is not an easy shop to find. The place was packed by the time we arrived for dinner at 7pm and we had to wait for about 30 mins to get a seat. Food was slightly pricey but taste pretty good. Has that sort of thai feel to it.
L.
I've discovered this Thai Restaurant recently and had dined in twice. The foods were really nice and their desserts are delish. The queue is always long. We went there on two occasions which on Friday nights. We waited between 20mins - 30mins to be seated. They don't take reservations therefore you can only wait in turns. I did try the Fried rice with salted fish and I must say it's not as good as my own cooking otherwise it's all good so far. Will be returning to try some other salads dish.
B. W.
Ive been there twice. Various options on the menu, authentic Thai food. Recommend the papaya salad and sweet and sour fried fish!
Though there’s room for improvement regarding services. The staff are not attentive enough:it takes a while to have someone to make order or clean the table
W. k. C.
Love the authentic taste of the Thai food. Noodles, mango sticky rice, deep fried shrimps were yummy. Price was reasonable. Will definitely head back with my Thai friends.
S. B.
Staff did not pay attention and the food took forever.
It was Friday night, so maybe a bit busy, but hey they should be prepared. The waitress talked to another waitress while taking our order. So we were not asked if we want everything at once or starters extra etc.
Maybe they don't do that here at all, cos one main came within 5 minites, the salad after another 2 minutes and the second maid dish after 30! Minutes.
The second main was nice, but the first 2 just average
K.
Yummy and quick Thai. This restaurant is underground. You head downstairs to a long dinning area with big tables great for work lunches and big groups. Hard to get wifi. Order and pay via your phone.
P. D.
One of the best Thai joints outside of Thailand. Prices are reasonable and portions adequately sized. Staff is extremely efficient and friendly at the same time. Go during peak times as the atmosphere is the best when the place is packed.
C. C. R.
I tried this restaurant as a friend's recommendation, and it ended up satisfying. This huge underground thai cuisine restaurant has plenty of seats with a lot of young staffs that were knowledgeable and worked efficiently.
We ordered five dishes and all of them were pleasantly tasty and my favorite was the pork bone soup. Such a proper restaurant for family or friends in large group though. High chair were provided, but not the parking area. Lastly, it was a great carb and protein loaded lunch.
A. D.
We had green curry and crispy pork with chilli and basil sauce for dinner. The food was really good. The staffs were friendly and helpful.
K. C.
This place is amazing! Best tom yum noodles in Melbourne. Tastes exactly like what you get on the streets of Thailand, very authentic. I tried level 2 spiciness, which was fine for a small bowl but made me cry when I tried a big bowl. The soup stock is made of pork ribs, which is rare and gives it that depth of flavour. Must come back and try everything else on the menu!
W. N.
Generally decent Thai food, never had a bad meal here but can't say their curries or Pad Thais are the most authentic - edible though. However good Tom Yum noodle soups with your choice of spiciness, Pad See Eew, Pad Kee Mao are a highlight along with most pork dishes. Great pick me up on a cold day or good for a quick recharge.
N. O.
Very nice food but if we go in a large group, it seems pretty standard that at least one of our meals is hugely delayed or even forgotten. We've noticed it happen 3 times now, seeing a trend. Very friendly staff though.
E. L.
Portion sizes was kind of small but ok. Slow service (although it was very busy so that's fine). We waited over 2 hours for the crab meat because either the kitchen left out the order or someone mistakenly took it from the robot server. Staff was very apologetic and friendly.
The crispy crackling pork was kinda bland.
Highly recommend this place but come on a slow day.
S. D.
Only been during lunch time. Very busy place, the underground venue is always buzzing with people. Surprisingly not a long wait in the queue to be seated.
Food is delicious and reasonable priced. Wait staff is responsive and polite despite the busy lunch time rush.
Menu prices (~Dec 2018) are quite reasonable and you can get small bowl of noodles from $7.5 onwards to $13 for large. From the menu, the dishes with plain rice starts from about $10.9.
Min. credit card payment from $20. Otherwise pay by cash.
D. L.
Must be one of the most popular restaurants in Melbourne! Always lively and quick service. I ordered the large size boat noodle but felt like the serving size was inadequate, especially compared to the past. Def recommend a try though!
E. K.
One of the newest addition to the list of Thai restaurant in Melbourne CBD. I think the original store is from Sydney. Once you walked down the stairs you will feel that you have entered a typical Asian food court. The live band setup, the bowls they used and the seating arrangement. Food are priced reasonably although portion can be a little small. Be careful of their noodles with spicy level of 5 and 7, they will burn! They are open late so you can come for a late night snack too with live bands on the weekend.
Food - 10
Service - 9
Vibe - 9
Price - $$
C. H.
One of my favourite places to go for affordable and authentic Thai food. I always order the same dishes because they are so good - fish with rice, rice noodles with bbq pork, moo ping (pork skewers), fish cakes and chicken wings. The place transforms into a pub-like style after 10pm everyday, with live music. The best time to go for dinner (without having to queue for long) would be 5-6pm on a weekday and 5-5:30pm on a weekend.
M. Y.
Highly rated thai restaurant, always busy, but fast moving queues.
Authentic flavours and large portions.
Cheap eats at it's best.
G.
Awesome thai food, if not the best one in Melbourne hands down. Normally you will need to travel to Sydney if you are in Australia for really good thai food. With this place, not anymore. Furthermore, this is as authentic as it gets.
A very busy place and it can get packed really fast. Do come in earlier to secure a seat.
J. L.
Before I go into the food and everything else, I'd like to say that if you've had a long day or you're someone who prefer a quiet environment like myself; I'd suggest only trying this restaurant during lunch time.
I went here with my partner on a Friday night during dinner and I can't express how loud the restaurant is. I felt almost anxious and nauseous and could not think.
I do understand the nature of the environment and how it's supposed to replicate street food and street eating and this is definitely not for me.
If one thing I'd commend the restaurant for, is its staffs. I've never met a bunch of friendlier people, and they do their job with wide smiles. During your stay, you won't only have one or two staffs attend to your table; you'll get to know almost the whole team. I'm giving 4 stars solely based on the staffs.
Now, the food! What youve all been waiting for!
I'd like to start off that I'm not a fan of Thai food, it's just not for me. Dodee really made a difference, although my partner feels that the food has not been cooked on the spot. It's been cooked in big portions and rewarm, so it does not taste fresh or hot.
For me personally, a lot of the dishes resembled Vietnamese food so there was some sort of familiarity. This is the first time I can honestly say I've enjoyed Thai food, and trust me - I've had a lot. I'm a foodie after all!
Would I come here again? Perhaps during lunch. Never dinner. Not in the noisy environment at least.
EDIT (Reply to Boon):
Hi Boon,
It's a bit odd that you're coming off very defensive.
I am providing feedback based on our experience of the food and how it tastes, not just its warmth.
You should take this feedback and work on it, not trying to deflecting what I have to say.
I pride myself on being an honest reviewer and my followers also appreciate it. I have no reason to put a restaurant down if its untrue.
I hope you enjoy your weekend.
C. S.
Good food tucked away on Little Collins. Modern decor with neon lights and the sense of Thai street hawker stalls. Everything was on point, except the service. Friendly staff but not too clever. Will advise to arrive early, preferably in small groups to avoid long wait.
J. L.
One of the best Thai food I have had. Would definitely recommend this to friends and visit again. The curry was top quality, larb chicken was nice and the pork belly was delicious. The noodles were okay. The environment is very nice and traditional but it gets very loud sometimes.
C. C.
Nov 19-Very authentic Thai food. So happy to finally find tasty mango sticky rice in Melbourne.
Jan 20 - went again for the food with guests from overseas. The mango sticky rice was disappointing. Not as fragrant and minimal coconut milk. Vegan options were bland. Very disappointing. Regretted bringing my guests there.
I. T.
Very nice authentic Thai food - their tom yum soup is clear and my friend tells me that this is how it is in Thailand. Beware that their spicy is super spicy, would not to a level 3 spicy unless you eat chilly daily. Quite hard to find location - on the basement of the hotel. The prices are quite cheap as well.
S. L.
My fave Thai place hands down. Love that this place serve good and spicy thai food.
Tried the tom yum and stir fried noodle. Tom yum is so far the best I've had in melbs. It's not sweet (like how other thai restaurants cook it), but more towards spicy and savoury - which I love. 😋😋
The stir fried noodle (pad kee mow) really impressed me! The noodles are so flavoursome and has 'wok hay'. And I can really taste the fragrance of the garlic and chilli. YUMMMM.
F. P.
We tried the papaya salad, one of the noddle bowl, and rice with grilled pork.
The noodles were cheap ($7.50 ish) but it's also not that big. So if you're hungry, order the jumbo size one. Our prder came out pretty quickly considering the place is about 70% full.
To the people who can't eat spicy (or think they can eat spicy), please note that this is a Thai place. Please don't complain their food is too spicy and ruin this place for everyone else who can actually eat spicy food. If not sure, as for super mild or better ask for no chilli at all.
This place is a little bit hidden, just next to the hotel and you need to go down the stairs on the left of the hotel. They also have a smaller take away place to the right of the hotel.
D. S.
Just arrived 6.20pm. Have a long, long que. Hope the food is as good as claimed ( if not better than that in Hatyai???). Dishes were decent if not too sweet. The fish, fried flat rice noodles and dessert were totally sweet. Spiciness was not in the fish and rice noodles. Dessert was too sweet to my liking( maybe they should have varieties based on sweetness)
U. N.
Absolutely nothing to complain about this fantastic Thai restaurant gem hidden in a little laneway. We love every single thing about the food, the staff and the ambience here. The tomyum noodles are fantastic and all the food is excellently prepared. Cannot recommend highly enough!
N. N.
I used to love this place but since lockdown they have made it very hard to order and pay. I don't mind scanning and leaving my contact details but ordering and paying using the same system did not work well.
Update: scanning in and leaving my contact details is obviously mandatory and not something I complain about. What did not work was the online menu, from clicking on the item you want, adding it to the cart and then paying. The whole ordering process was just very clunky. I wanted to pay with Liven so went up to the counter but found it very hard to relay what I wanted to the counter staff, ended up going back yo my table and paid on the phone with my card.
Vegetarians: please note even if you choose the curry with tofu and vegetables, it is not vegetarian as the curry paste has osyter and fish sauce in it (a staff informed me of this) so be careful when ordering.
S. I.
The Pineapple Fried Rice was unusually good. Must try for anyone looking for some Thai good food. They have an upper take out plus few seats place and a lower big restaurant place. The lower level is usually always full and you might need to wait to be seated. It's very famous.
M. T.
Some of the best and seemingly authentic Thai cuisine in Melbourne~
K. S.
This is one of my favourite Thai places, it's cheap and authentic - so be warned, when they say spicy, it's Thai spicy. For one place to have so many good dishes, it really shows the pride they have in their work. Has a great, casual, chilled out ambiance. They no longer take any bookings because of their popularity. They used to give you an instant discount if your order is over $50 and you pay cash, now they give you a voucher for next visit instead ( you'll be back soon anyway), cards accepted - with surcharge. Expect long queues, but fast turnaround. Must tries: tom yum soup (the best I've had in the city), anything on their noodle menu with tom yum soup base - choose glass noodles, crispy pork with Chinese broccoli, fried bread with Pandan custard, Mango with sticky rice. Avoid : green/red curry duck - too sweet.

Best Thai eatery in Melbourne 💋 we Love dodee
C. J.
Superb stuff, but level 2 noodles was way too spicy 😅
T. S.
Pad Thai is the best in Melbourne. Highly recommend Thai food in the CBD. Also amazing with robot serving.
H. P.
Really good and authentic Thai food. It's always busy here so bookings are essential. We had a large group of 9 and they were really accommodating to us considering our group came a little late they were nice enough to hold the table for us even though they said they couldn't.
A. M.
Super yum and super authentic!
Brought me back to Thailand. The menu can be a bit overwhelming because there are so many options.
I ordered the Tom Yum which was creamy spicy perfection. I forget how spicy and delicious Thai food is. It wasn’t too spicy, but enough to get a little sweat going. The Tom Yum had prawns, lemongrass, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, ginger, lime juice, cilantro, and of course chilies, the staple to any thai dish. Hands down, best Tom Yum I have ever had! It’s going to be really hard to top it. It was so delicious. For drinks I went with the Thai milk tea to wash down all the spicy goodness.
I had faith in the food being so good I order the Pad Kee Mow to go. I knew it would be great for lunch the next day, oh boy it did not disappoint. Again I was floored at the authentic amazing taste and quality.
Flat rice noodles with chilli, garlic, egg, chinese broccoli, basil in a black sweet sauce and oyster sauce! YUMMMM
There’s sitting in the little alley way and then they have a bigger restaurant space around the corner. Eat in the alley way if you can, makes the whole experience better. The alley way isn’t great for groups though, a total of maybe 9 people fit inside. Again plenty of space for group in the main part of the restaurant.
Overall so happy with the service, ambiance and the authentic yummy food
X. Y. O.
Really great place to dine in. Everything I ordered were really tasty. Highly recommend the Spicy Pork Bone Soup! Must try! There's usually long queue to dine in, but don't need to wait too long.
D.
When ordering papaya salad, avoid the salted egg option. They don't taste like salted egg. The creamy tomyum soup is yummy & pad thai's nice too. Pay by cash & you get 5% discount. There's surcharge for using card.

The famous noodle shop in Thailand Has branches in Sydney and Melbourne The Melbourne branch is very large. In the basement of the hotel In the morning, the restaurant will serve breakfast of the hotel as well. This Doodee is a famous restaurant that has both Thai and foreign customers waiting to queue a lot The menu includes Thai food, as well as a la carte, appetizers and noodles.
A. L.
I ordered the Do Dee Nursery with thin rice noodles which is the Tom Yum Noodle without Chilli because my spice tolerance is extremely low. The last time I ordered a level 2 it was very very spicy for me. But even then I could tell that it was very flavourful. This time I could actually taste everything.
Broth was amazing, and I love the assortment of meat present in the dish. Definitely give their noodle menu a try!
K. L.
Cheap eat in the city, good quality food for what you pay.
They utilise robots to deliver food to your table which is a cool feature.
You pay for your meal before you get it instead of the usual pay after you finish your meal.

Environment ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Food ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A good Thai restaurant in Melbourne CBD. Must try the pork stew! The food is good just a bit salty for some dishes but all good. The only thing with this restaurant would be better not under ground. Live band is awesome ! Sometimes the line could be long!
S. C.
If you love Asian style noodles soup, then this is the must try restaurant. I will not go with their other dishes. I came here once early this year. I ordered the Dodee Noodle, the Papaya Salad and the Grilled Pork Skewers. My other colleagues ordered Pork with Thai Basil on rice and Massaman Beef with rice. I remembered I was very impressed with their noodles but no so much for their other dishes.
This time I know exactly what I'm going to order. Their Dodee Noodle. I had Do See Variety and it's yummy. I ended the dinner with one of my favourite Thai desserts, Thapthim Krop. It tastes good. I'm very happy.
I can't believe how busy this place is. I ended up sitting at the bar area which they only just opened a week ago.
Their staffs are very friendly and the service is good.
D. O.
Live band 9pm to 1am every night! Very noisy during peak dinner time.
Best Thai food I've had in Melbourne so far. Seems legit with Thai servers too! Had a great time here. Very affordable food.
K. G.
Crispy pork was hard and rice was solidly cold and hard too. I only can assume that they have already pre made my meal or it was a mistake ordered by someone else and pass it on to me.
Service was quick and good. Will be back but I’ll make sure my pork and rice won’t be cold anymore.
N. K.
I ordered Crispy pork Belly with rice (Main) Thai ice coffee and Pork skewers (Entree) but the pork skewers didn't arrive until after we all finished our meals. Other than that, it was a pleasant experience and the food was tasty and reasonably priced. Will definitely come back but wont order main until Entree arrives at the table.
B. L.
Food was good, order was slow, they forgot one of our dishes and had to ask for its whereabouts. Packed Friday and Saturday dinners
A. A.
Lovely thai food! Great service, clean, fast and fresh :) Favourite is the grilled pork
D.
i visited this place on 2019, i came early before the lunch time, so i didn’t need to queue to get a table. the food was great, i really loved it. and what i loved the most is this fried bread with pandan custard. it’s so delicious
A. K.
Great atmosphere, bigger than the one in Sydney, same food, great spicy food. Coming back after 2 years, and still consistent food. Still delicious, and still very busy..
A. S.
The food is very tasty, good enough to drive into the city to pick it up. My only critique would be that it is fairly expensive. If the portions were a little larger that would get 5 stars from me.
C. B.
Dodee Paidang is easily missed as you need to go down a flight of stairs to the basement where the main restaurant is located. For entree we had the pork skewers and the chicken wings both were good. For main we had Pad Keep Mow, which was great and massaman curry which was so so. I do agree with other reviewers that portion size seems to be an issue here, keep that in mind when ordering. Lots on the menu to try, so you'll be unlucky if you can't find something you like.
D. M.
Very popular Thai restaurant in the heart of the city. Food was nice and had a great range of traditional Thai dishes. Prices aren't too expensive and they offer a 5% discount if you pay with cash. Highly recommend Thai restaurant.
A. B.
Excellent Thai food, we've come back twice now and everything we've tried has been delicious. Highlights include quail egg skewers, red curry, the salads, tom yum soup and soft shell crab. The fried bread with Pandan custard is also amazing.
J. L.
From a quiet alleyway, enter this basement to discover a place that's bustling with activity. After a short wait in the queue we were seated with water and menus. The diverse offerings are reminiscent of authentic street food in Thailand.
My soft shell crab in Choo Chee sauce was an explosion of flavour. Paired with coconut rice, the crunchy crab was so scrumptious in the sweet and well-spiced broth. My friend also loved her red duck curry, with generous pieces of the tender poultry. The mango sticky rice was pure Heaven, creamy and fragrant, the great way to wrap up the meal.
The dim lighting and functional setting reminds me of the Hawker stores commonly found in Asia. Service was friendly but pretty basic. A busy spot with high turnover that is great for casual dining but probably not to hang out for a prolonged chat.
R. A. A.
Dodee Paidang Thai Bar and Cafe is a Thai cafe located in Equitable PI along little Collin Street. The cafe is located beside causeway 353 hotel Melbourne. The restaurant serves delicious Thai specialties including pad thai, tom yum soup, pineapple fried rice, thai milk tea, noodle, etc. The price is reasonable and dining experience was good. However, as the restaurant is located next to a hotel, the restaurant obtain many bookings for dinner. If you will like to have dinner with family or friends during peak seasons (holidays), do make a booking or contact the restaurant before hand. Cheers!
I. F.
Arroy mak mak 😋 Felt like in Thailand! Everything is delicious, the staff are very friendly. We will definitely be back! Kapun kha 🙏
P. S.
The highlight of this basement restaurant is their waitress robat bringing food, loved the idea! other than that food is tasty, tried crab and fried rice! 👌👌👌👌
A. L.
Excellent robust taste. From taking orders and to delivery, everything was flawless and clinically executed. Brings me to Thailand immediately. Will definitely visit the restaurant after the lockdown.
R. R.
This place makes you feel like you're back in Thailand. The food is authentic and delicious comma the atmosphere he is genuine. They have a live band every evening. I think this may be my new favourite Thai restaurant.
A. P.
One of the best Thai food I every had in Melbourne. When ordering make sure to order with correct spicy level. It's really tasty and spicy food ( as per level of spice you order)
G. L.
Initially when we reached this place, there was a huge line waiting to go downstairs. As first time I was little confused should I wait, how big will the place be , will I get a table as were 3 ppl.
But when I went down, it was a very big place underground and the food was served quick so we got our table after waiting for 20 mins
We ordered chicken pad Thai, green veg curry and veg fried rice. The food was served hot and it tasted yum. Green curry was one of the best I had and also veg fried also was good. But was little disappointed with rice portion which came for green curry.
Apart from this, few turn off points was that
- rice had to be ordered separately with green curry during dinner, else I'm not sure how will I have green curry alone.
- and was little expensive when compared to other places
- biggest turn off was that they had charged additional for using my card for paying my bill. Which I founded odd as they were giving discount on bill amount above 50$ if paid cash.

"Aroi Mak Mak!!"
This is my favourite thai restaurant in Melbourne. Easy to find in a super cool location in the basement.
Food has always been tasty here with a huge selection of Thai cuisine.
Very clean. Friendly staff. Fast service = a big thumbs up from me. The live music at nights is a bonus especially with neers towers flowing.
Im a loyal customer and ill keep coming back.
J. N.
Sooo good! Worth the 30 min wait outside. The Tom yum fried rice, boat noodle and pad Thai were delicious. Tastes like authentic street-style thai food!
A. F.
Best thai food, as always. Got unlucky and didn't get to order the meal i wanted because i arrived at 5:30pm. But still got to eat yummy grilled and crunchy pork belly. The tom yum soup is just amazing. The staff is also super friendly. Highly recommend!!
H.
Great flavor for Thai cuisine. The queue is pretty long, so u might want to come here early or u need to wait for quite some time to get a seat
B. C.
Always busy = good. Hidden underground. Great cheap eats with a multitude of quality variety. Do the spicy challenge. There are 7 levels. Bring a bandana, you’re going to sweat.
C. S.
What a queue. My cousin study here in Melb recommended and brought us here to try the tom yum noodles soup which has it own spicy level. Dare to try it? Yup i did try out. I tried the Level 2 (the devil) i guess. Haha.. at first I sip the soup and it taste not so spicy until i sip 2nd time. And wow...I can felt the spicyness on my tongue. Well the soup taste incredibly tasty and nice. I do love it. I stick maybe at level 1-2...not daring 3-7 hahah.. keep it up. Retain the spicyness.. very 👍
F. G.
Interesting and affordable new Thai eatery in town. The place is at the basement of a hotel, very spacious place. Ambience is vibrant and bustling with chatters. Service was pretty quick.
Ordered the Moo Ping and Quail Eggs deep fried wonton. The pork skewer was really delicate and juicy, packed with flavor. Wonton was underseasoned.
For the main, we had Thai rice noodle with clear soup and Boiled rice with pork combination as the portion of one bowl is a bit small for us. Love the broth. Subtle yet full of savory flavor. The noodle had a nice texture of chewiness. The toppings of mixed pork cuts were tasty and tender. Had a pandan juice to wash it all off. Comfortable and satisfying.

Do Dee Paidang Melbourne, just landed their first branch in Melbourne recently (September 2017).
It was located in 353 Little Collins street in the ground floor.
The place was very spacious, definitely suitable for small to big group of people.
It was a humble looking place, not a fancy restaurant which was good and felt so homey.
The speed of customer service was really fast, unfortunately it was inaccurate.
We got the wrong order few times and they had to resend the food, in the end we had to cancel the order.
It was pretty disorganised.
We ordered:
- Grilled Meat Ball (pork) for $2.00.
The skewer meat ball was nicely grilled and well seasoned.
The pork meat ball was very nice, juicy and must try.
It had reasonable price for this taste and quality.
- Do Dee Monster (Tom Yum Spicy Noodle, level 1) using Thin rice noodle for $7.50.
For some reasons, the level 1 of Do Dee Monster was slighly spicier compared to Do Dee Glass Noodle.
It was still bearable for beginner, the Tom Yum based soup had a unique and delicious taste.
It was completely different taste from the normal Tom Yum soup.
- Do Dee Glass Noodle (Tom Yum with Glass Noodle) for $7.50.
The taste was absolutely fantastic, the sweet and sour was balance.
For a level 1 spiciness level, it was pretty good for beginner as we could enjoy every sip of the soup base.
The meat balls were very tender and juicy. Yummmmyyy!!!
Overall, both dishes ordered were really nice and we enjoyed that.
Unfortunately, the regular portion of both dishes were too small and we slightly disappointed when we saw the portion.
They have only 2 sizes (regular and large), the regular was too small and the large was too much.
We reckoned, it would be better to come up with 3 different sizes : small, regular and large.
Price: 3.0
Taste: 4.0
Speed: 3.0
Service: 2.0
Yay: Great taste of the Tom Yum soup base
Nay: Poor customer service (fast but inaccurate)
O. K.
Its one of our favorite place to go to for Thai dinner.
Its always crowded, always got to wait to get a table but its worth it.
D.
OMG they have robots serving you your food. After ages I have had such tasty Thai food thats not super expensive and good ambience.
K. K. K.
We were a large group of 11 people. The food was served quickly considering how busy and full the restaurant was and had a nice temperature. The portions were large (a jumbo is satisfying if you're hungry) and the taste was fantastic. From 9:30pm there was a live band, which was just lovely after the meal and made us relax. Very happy with the restaurant.
J. H.
Definitely give it 5 which is rare for me. This is so original, has Thailand fresh ginger and onion and spice. It is actually impressed. And the most incredible thing is the price is quite cheap. Atmosphere also nice, obviously I will be back a lot of times.
K. V.
I ordered a Dodee Mussels small bowl. It looks quite small to some but if you are like me, who eats just a little, this is more than enough.
The mussels is not the best you could get but I did not expect much since it's a Thai restaurant so wonton or fish ball would be much better. I love the crispy fried batter on top. It give much texture to the noodle. Most of the soups are tomyum base so if you are not keen on spicy, you might need to look closer for alternatives.
The restaurant locates in the CBD (at the Equitable Place connecting Collins and Little Collins streets)
This place looks good for family and small groups rather than big crowded group.
A. T.
No 4G signal available in shop and wifi provided is quite slow. The food however, is quite delicious. Might have a short wait for the noodles.
P. N.
The vibe here is unique! They really bring out the live music and dim the lights after a certain time! Good fun with a group
L.
I really looked forward to having these.
Noodle Soup was Super good!!!! Even though i choose highest level 7, it was not spicy for me haha🤣 So next time, i am gonna ask more spicier than level 7.
I don’t recommend Pod Thai though.
O. S.
Dodee is another hidden gem in a small lane way off little collins street. Apparently it is a chain from Sydney. Very authentic nevertheless. It is always packed. Most of the customers are Thai people.
The downside of being authentic is that some of the food are insanely hot/spicy. But always with a nice flavour. The iced thai milk tea is also very tasty. The grilled pork skew is a must to have.
DoDee serves as our go to place for a quick Thai food.
S. H.
A little cozy Thai restaurant in one of the narrow Melbourne laneways in the CBD area. Delicious food and lovely atmosphere...try their cashew nuts as it's my favorite dish there.
R. K.
Tasty food with good proportions. There was one staff member in particular saying no to all requests made such as seat of choice, drinks at the bar etc. But on requesting the same to other employees, they were happy to assist.
D. B.
Beautiful boat noodle dishes bursting with flavour. Scrumptiously succulent sausage set the scene superbly as a sensational starter.
H. _.
Food and drinks are delicious. Wish there were more vegetarian options. Place is very busy, but the atmosphere is nice and the staff are friendly.
r. m.
Some of the best Thai food I have had outside of Thailand. The food here is amazing and the Thai milk tea is one of my favourites. I would recommend this place to anyone. It’s best to get in early as the line can be really long, I’ve waiting over an hour to eat here on a busy evening. Also, if you are choosing your spice level, make sure you can eat extremely hot food when ordering over level 3 spice.
A. F.
Authentic Thai food. The street style soup noodle is very authentic. Tried the crispy pork with basil, yummy. Thai desserts also delicious, durain sticky rice and steamed flour thing is good. Padthai, can give miss.
J. L.
By far the best Thai food in Melbourne. We have visited several places and nothing is as good and authentic. Due to lockdown we could only get takeaway, food was delivered to my door fresh and warm. Me and my family have tried a few things, all of them were extraordinary and delicious. The Stewed Pork leg and Tender Ribs noodles are must-try and the moo ping and fish ball bomb are our fav! Can’t wait to bring my friends there when lockdown is ended.
R. H.
Dodee is a little gem. It is a little hard to find but all worth the trip, food was delicious - keep the good work up!
A. T.
Noodle taste is nice but very small portions. I recommend you to order "regular size with extra noodle" then normal portion. On the menu said "jumbo" but not jumbo at all.
H. F.
An awesome experience for lunch today in customer services, beautiful tasty foods and value for money.
Sooo happy... going back soon with family and friends👍🥰🍜🌴
R. M.
Service is very impersonal as its all done via your phone, however the food arrived very quickly and was amazing. Worth the wait and lining up at the door for 20 mins...
M. T.
Good down to earth quality Thai food. Hits the taste buds and flavours are spot on! Loved it.
m. m.
Very authentic Thai. Finally Melbourne gets a proper Thai restaurant. Every dish is super yummy and so much variety. Not just the usual suspects. Love it
Staff are really knowledgeable about what’s in the many many dishes.
The boat noodles varieties seem endless. There’s even a mystery boat noodles if you can’t decide.
We asked for medium heat and it was perfect.
Love everything
Save room for dessert
K. S.
As a Sydneysider, I'm not used to seeing a restaurant opened in the middle of a city after 930pm, on a week night. But this place was pumping and at 11pm on a Thursday night there was a queue to get in. Service staff were attentive, food came super quickly. Pad see moon was terrific, as was the Thai milk tea. All with a buzzing atmosphere and live music. Nicely done Melbourne!
No split bills. Slight surcharge on card payments.
A. M.
Gorgeous underground restaurant that's much bigger than you expect when you walk down the stairs for the first time. The food is delicious and comes quickly even when the restaurant is full, with large portions and excellent cocktail offerings too
A. H.
Used to be amazing, before they reduced the menu. Not many vegetarian options.
G. C.
Excellent space Dodee Padang has here in Melbourne, he food seemed just as good as the original Sydney place, the even have Isaan sausages... Restaurant seems bigger than Sydney one and even had a band set up at one end. Service was quick, food was great and being able to get Singha by the jug a bonus...prices are reasonable. The perfect place to get your Thai fix
R. M.
Tamarind whole fish was lovely and crisp. Morning glory with garlic and chilli, super fresh and tasty.
N. W.
Tucked away underground this is a great place for some authentic Thai food. You know it's authentic when at spice level 1 it's already spicy. (there are 6 levels)
M. N.
Good Thai food at a great price. $10-15 for lunch in CBD. It is so busy you gotta beat the lunch rush though so get in early! We go almost once a week. I bring lots of lunch buddies!
A. L.
i’m eating here now and i have to leave a review... i ordered the chilli and basil pork and a rice, and removed the chilli cos i can’t take spice lmao. oh it’s one of the best basil pork dishes i’ve ever had, and i’m from singapore. really good stuff.
A. Y.
The ambience was good but the salad failed. Super salty. Fried rice was microwave heated, and green curry was too sweet. Won’t come back.
r. o.
This restaurant is base at Collins Street a hidden gem.!!Food is absolutely tasty ,service is good and serving is pretty fast.Price very reasonable. Will definately visit more often.
C. G.
The food are great and taste authentic. Milk tea I'd great. Staff are patient and friendly. Relax atmosphere.
S. M.
DELIVERY: we ordered food for delivery today and were eagerly anticipating it's arrival.
Everything was stone cold and seemed like it had been prepared many hours earlier. Almost inedible! We'll never order delivery again and its such a shame as when you dine in it's excellent as my earlier review below outlines.......
DINE IN: Simply incredible thai food, authentic and delicous. After living in thailand for a couple of years my standards are high and Dodee hit them and smashed through them. Love the raw prawn, chilli and garlic slices, always my fav. Can't wait to go back for my Thai food fix. Kapoon krub
H. L.
Very busy restaurant! But the coconut ice cream was beautiful, with the warm Pandan sticky rice, good combination! Yum
B. W.
Very flavourful papaya salad.
The chili basil crispy pork with coconut rice is just perfect! I like the fried tea leaves on that dish.
Curry puff is also quite creamy texture, great vego option!
R. M.
I always visited Dodee Paidang in Sydney everytime I go there. So glad that they are in Melbourne now so I can go anytime. Been there when it first open last year. Always good food, sometimes can be a long wait but worth it. Love the tom yum noodle (don't go beyond level 3, unless you have high tolerance of hot and spicy - level 1 is perfect for me as you can add more chilli later). Moo ping skewers and quail egg wonton goes perfect together, love the soft shell crab salad too!
J.
This place serves amazing Thai food! I visited on Saturday night and it had a really long queue! We wait was a good 20-25 mins before we go seated. The menu has a large variety. I found the staff a bit grumpy. Or maybe it was just the waitresses serving us, not sure! Any whooooo I would still visit this place for its food!
Food 4/5
Service 1/5
Ambience 3/5
Value for money 3/5
M. R.
Underground Thai place with tasty and fresh food. Courteous and helpful staff.
L. V.
Come for the Thai food, stay for the robots. Worth a visit. Does get busy during peak hour. City parking can be troublesome.
T. R.
Delicious, moresome, quick service and friendly staff.
E. L.
The staff were very friendly and accomodating. Highly recommended for Thai dish lovers, it has a large selection of Tom Yum soups. I personally went for a rather traditional Pad See Ew (rice noodles in oyster sauce) and I'm certainly coming back for it again.
J. L.
Popular site in an hidden street. Every dish offerd unique taste and generous size. Glad to be there.
K. L.
I love this place. It is the best Thai Restaurant we've been to, so far. Staff were friendly and helpful. The ambiance looks nice and the environment makes you feel like you're in Thailand. The food was soooo yummy and tasty. It was well portioned and well presented. It is a busy place, so better to go there early because of the massive lines to get it. We would definitely come back to this yummy place.
k. t.
Nice food, good bargain for a taste of Thai food. The place is usually crowded, not a quiet dining place though, overall is good!
S. S.
I'd highly recommend the Mango Salad with Soft Shelled Crab and the Pad Thai at Dodee Paidang Thai Bar and Cafe. We got lucky with a live music band as well. Might need to queue up, but it'll be worth it.
G. L.
Excellent Thai food... and a great atmosphere for dinner. Be prepared for queues...
A. T.
Always so in love with this place, especially this noodle! You can have level 1 spicy to level 7. And small bowl only cost 8 dollars!!! This is level 3 btw.
C. d. J. (.
Awesome, authentic Thai cuisine. Heard a lot of good things about this place and it didn't disappoint. Caution about the spice levels, hotter than most places!
P. W.
Great food and good value for your money. Recommend this place to anyone looking for Thai food.
A. S.
Hidden underground gem, you will be transported to Hawker centres in Thailand as soon as you enter. The place is huge which means it gets very loud and noisy. Don’t go here looking for ambiance or vibe, go for the most authentic Thai/South East Asian food and you won’t be disappointed. The staff is very courteous. The portions are huge, prices fair and the options are endless. I love the Papaya salad, rice noodle dishes and the Thai curries. They also serve Thai beers. Must try at least once if you’re in CBD.
H. S.
The waiters were very friendly and hospitable, the soup packed a punch and the noodle was chewy and tasty. A must try if you are craving for thai food, specifically tom yum!
C. C.
Authentic Thai Food. Best so far I have tasted in Melbourne
N. S.
Great taste. For your information, if you want to order the noodle, better to choose the king size one and share for two people. The small and medium size is to expensive for the portion that they give. But still, love the food. The dessert is great too!
i.
Favourite authentic Thai restaurant! Vegan menu is also available. We went on a Saturday night, expect to line up and wait a while. The soup dish comes out much faster than stir fry.
M. N.
This place has the best Thai food in Melbourne! I went here without any expectations but from the first bite of my food - I just knew this was the best thai I'd ever eaten. It was the correct amount of flavour and spice. You basically order your food from an app and they have it brought to you at your table. I had the beef in Chili Basil Sauce with some rice and an Tea with Lemon (iced tea). The beef was just delightfully spicy and I can't recommend the Tea enough. Would recommend. 10/10 will go here again.
D. A.
Fantastic Thai food, just discovered this place at lunch on Friday and quickly decided to come back to dinner on Saturday and try as much as we could.
Very very good prices and very very good food, definitely value for money.
I like that you had a live band on, that made the experience very nice and made if feel like a night out. And also, wow the staff are so friendly and so hard working. It’s clear they are focused on making it a good experience.
I’ll be back, many, many times.
B. A. F.
It was packed! We had to wait to get our turn. It's a good price for Thai food
B. O.
Was undecided on this place because of mixed reviews but gave it a go. So glad we did it’s probably the best Thai food we’ve ever eaten. Everything we had was incredible. It also came out very fast and it’s open late. Highly recommend to anyone that loves Thai. It’s very noisy inside due to live music but the food makes up for it.
T. M.
Nice food but overpriced. Deep fried pork belly was tasty. It came in about entrée size (looked like 180 - 200g before cooking) for $18.90; hence it's the entrée price for fine dining, not casual. Pork belly in Asian causal dining is about $35 - $40 per kg. For $18.90, it'd be nice if that plate was filled by pork, not half emptied and decorated with a condiment dipping.
N. D.
Price and portion is on point. I love the noodle. The place is too dark at night and we cant see the food clearly.
E. C.
The food is really good like delicious and this is coming from someone with pretty damn high standards when it comes to Thai cuisine
Fairly priced and open till late !
However marking it down only because it's underground and makes me feel claustrophobic haha and the band that was playing there tonight was pretty average ... But seriously go for the food guys :)
V.
Awesome authentic Thai, great prices too. Ordered the stir fried pork and pad kee mai - both nice n spicy! Closest you will get to the real thing, just like Thailand!
B. T.
The Tom yum noodles are what will keep you coming back. Great food finds.
They have lots of options that tempt you to try something new (even though you're likely to always go back and order the same thing. Aka their signature Tom yum noodles).
Best Thai option within the CBD for relaxed vibes, delicious drinks and great for groups (although gets loud).
T. S.
Authentic cuisine from entree to dessert. Iol I had a food coma after eating all the delicious dishes.
C. J. L.
Very Authentic Thai food. Been there with visitors and they loved it.
B. D.
What a wonderful atmosphere. Dodee replicates the success of the Sydney venue by serving up authentic and spicy Thai food. The top yums range from a nursery level spice to a whopping and very hot number 7 (which = 7 teaspoons of dried chilli). The taste is amazing. The service is friendly and some nights there is even a band playing covers after 9:30pm! So cool.
Really great place for a birthday party as they serve beer towers as well.
Recommend for a well priced Thai food restraurant.
G.
This is one of Melbourne best Thai places, the wait can be a bit long if you’re unlucky with your timing but the food is well worth. I’m slowly trying to work my way through the whole menu and they haven’t put a foot wrong so far!
Note: if you’re not accustomed to spicy Thai food I strongly recommend you order only mild dishes because the heat level is authentic!
D. D. S.
This is where I can find Thai food which is close enough to street food in Thailand. Noodles, stir fried, spicy salads, nibbles and more. YUM YUM YUM!!!
Try to get in before or just after the office work’s lunch time otherwise, you won’t find a seat. I was there after 1:30pm, just was a right time and not too late for lunch.
M. S.
Looking for a typical thai restaurant?
This place is the answer !!
Highly reccomrnded...
A little bit hidden in the alley, once you walk down to enter, you will find a typical thailand food court vibe.
Menu has a great variety of rice dishes, noodle dishes, etc etc. A true original thai taste, delicious and good value for money.
This place will not disappoint thailanders looking for a great thai restaurant in Melbourne :))

Great meals and authentic Thai cuisine. Love the noodle dishes and i love the lunch menu. I grew up on kao mun gai and it always gives me a taste of my childhood. Aroi mak mak ka. Love the som tum and sai krok with sticky rice and the kao kaa moo. Delicious
J. T.
Would have given it a 5 stars if the service is good. Overall dishes are good and fresh.
H. T.
Very nice restaurant. I loved that it's open till late. The food were yummy.
ร. จ.
Tom yum noodles is amazing! we will come back again for sure.
E. L.
Great Thai food in town, knowing this is the popular place I walked in at 5pm to have our dinner, saw a long waiting line after 6pm. I have ordered Tom Yam soup, Thai tea, green curry pineapple fried rice, crispy prawns. Except the green curry has too much coconut milk, the rest were so delicious. I will come back again to try other dishes.
R. H.
Great thai restaurant with a variety of choices. It tends to get really busy on Friday nights so expect to line up.
A. W.
Food is delicious and staff are very pleasant
Only downside is I wish your internet wouldn't cut out as much, but then again it's a minor thing
S. A.
Rude staff but the food was great, great vibes and awesome cash discount
S. L.
Very delicious dishes with big selections of menu, can't wait to come back again to try all the other dishes!!! 😇
M. F.
There's a good reason they are rated highly in reviews. Very tasty food, quick service, well priced.
My partner had some difficulty finishing her dish as it was too spicy (despite requesting "mild" but she still loved the flavors.
B. C.
Hidden in the basement on Little Collins St is a very popular Thai restaurant serving a wide selection of delicious Thai noodles, rice dishes and more. The food is delicious and worth a try. The prices are reasonable and with Liven, you get a discount.
R. E.
Food is always great. I would never forget those moments everytime I eat pad thai here.
K. W.
I’ve been to Thailand before ~~~here the foods are super spicy and sooo good amazing ~~~and here have live music ~~~~staffs are really kind and helpful ~~~
S. K.
Good place for Thai dishes. Must visit place and must try is grilled chicken rice.
S. J.
One of my favourite places in cbd. Highly recommended
T. A.
A hidden basement restaurant off a little laneway on Little Collins st. The typical hidden Melbourne gem that needs to be experienced. Great food and good portions, always packed full of Thai customers. I work with many Thai international students and this place is named quite often - which is the highest praise. The menu is now online so you can order and pay directly from your phone at your table. Can sometimes be a long line but as I live locally I just come back at a different time or day. Definitely recommend it.
R. S.
One of the best Thai restaurants I've been to! The food is spectacular - the Penang curry was delicious and the presentation was stunning. My friend ordered the Tom Yum noodle soup, which was also really good.
Will definitely visit again!
D. S.
Always delicious, always a line to eat (for good reason). Decent vegetarian options.
S. S.
This restaurant is the best Thai food I've had in Australia so far. The food is phenomenal, the cocktails are delicious af and I couldn't stop being loudly appreciative of how amazing everything tasted. Portions are so good for the prices as well. You have to eat here, its authentic Thai food af, sooooo good. I can't be more into it. I miss it because I'm in Sydney and can't eat here everyday 😢
K. Y.
Food's good. Its underground yet so crowded. You have to wait in queue ( like always) but the service is the best and prompt no matter how busy. Wouldnt say its cheap. The pricing is standard.7/10
K. W.
Great food, very speedy service. A robot brings your food, which is very fun!
V. G.
The service and food was pretty awesome . Worth a try!
B. C.
Was quick visit here while staying upstairs at Causeway hotel but pad Thai was super delicious and big portion. Friendly service and yes gets super busy. Can't wait to go back
N. Z. A.
Amazing food
Reasonable price
A. V.
One of the best places in Melbourne to eat. Great food and great service!
I. T.
Fantastic! Good ambiance, good food, nice live band! Will definitely come back if I’m in town!
M. R.
My favourite Thai restaurant in Melbourne. There's so many things to choose from and the food always amazing. Fast service and great atmosphere.
H. H.
This is the best Thai food I have tried in Australia & I come here all the time 😍 The stand out dish is the tom yum soup - you can choose a spice level between 1 and 7. I would recommend ordering a small size tom yum along with some side dishes. The moo ping & sausage dishes are so yummy, they also have a great cold mixed seafood noodle salad, great papaya salads and so on. Love the cold drinks like Thai milk tea etc and also the singha beer on tap. Great atmosphere in the restaurant also. They have recently opened a swanston street location which is excellent for a quick lunch, however if you want to stay a while and have the full dodee experience the original location is the way to go.
爽.
Food are delicious, but food is delicious, so the food are delicious, if I can give 10 star I would
N. C.
Man do I love this place. Granted, thai is in my top 3 all time favorite cuisines, but does Dodee do it well!
I’ve been here many many times, and most recently went with a few mates who haven’t tried it before. Recommended to them all my favs (the dodee noodles, pad see ew, pork skewers) and as expected, everyone loved it.
Wish I had some pictures, but I will continue to keep coming back to this place, so I’ll just take some the next time I’m there :)
D. D.
DELICIOUS food with great potion sizes and a reasonable price tag! Staff were super friendly. Great use of technology with ordering via your personal device. Amazing vibe and an inviting space!
Would highly recommend!
b.
Arguably the best authentic Thai food in Melb CBD; servings are generous and well priced. Dishes are well balanced and complex in flavour with fresh ingredients.
Wouldn't recommend the milk tea/ice tea
H. V.
Really good food with authentic Thai flavor
h. s. o. (.
The food in this Thai restaurant is much worse than before. Now it's all self-service.
M. C.
Good Thai food and Dessert without going to Thailand with Borders closed. Good and fast Service. Prices are competitive but be prepared to queue but its quick. After 10pm live Band
R. D. H.
My favourite place to go very spicy which i love. I would recommend spicy pork bone soups it's really nice.
4 stars because i got uncooked rice everything else is very nice
I. U.
The food and service was good. The only thing I didn't like is online menu and ordering system. Too complicated
C. G.
What a busy place, the queue is long and they dont take bookings. Once you sit down all orders are via your phone food arrives timely the portions are generous to the point that just about everyone walks out left overs, the flavors are pretty authentic and the vibe of the place hectic which I like reminds me of my travels to Thailand.
N. H.
Super delicious & eye-catching Thai food 😋👍
A.
Got so addicted to their boat noodle recently. Highly recommend it. however I think the pah see eew was good but average.
C. M.
Always busy and buzzing, plus open late. Very loud. Stick to the classic Thai dishes and the food is great, but some dishes on the large menu are a bit average. Service is efficient but perfunctory. Best for a quick bite
F. N.
I had one of the best Thai food in this restaurant, strongly recommend 😋
S. A.
Half of the staff was horribly stressed and in bad temper. However, some of them were really nice. In the other hand, my girlfriend and I waited 30 minutes to grab a table for 2 but unfortunately the staff couldn't separate a simple table to give us the dumb place. The table over there wasn't booked, as many more.
J. D. S. V.
Nice place! You can eat lunch for $10 and get a beer in happy hour for another $5, cheap, good taste, clean and nice people, will come again.
J. N.
The noodle soups are very good and they offer a lot of food options, light to heavy. Friendly staff.
H. G. F.
Robot waiters are whack but it's fun watching people getting boxed in by them.
Solid grub, cheap too.
J. n.
Foods are amazing! Can’t complain
Too busy so should come in around 5 pm -6pm, otherwise have to wait at least 15mins to be seated
Reasonable price. 4 dishes cost $44.8
J. C.
Oh. My. Goodness.
Went there in a group of 6. Ordered way too much. At least that's what it would have seemed like if you'd seen the amount of food splayed out on the table. But it was so good that we finished it all.
* I am not Thai so I can't vouch for the authenticity, but this place was recommended to me by a Thai friend who says that this is about as good as it gets!
P. F.
Friendly staff, quick service, great menu, delicious food
A. G.
We had very good dining experiences at Dodee Paidang. Very tasty food, good serving size, spacious seating, clean washrooms and very prompt and courteous customer service by many staff members. Will certainly visit again.
M. B.
My favorite Thai food restaurant in Melbourne. Been there several times, friendly staff and good atmosphere.
Food was delicious, good value for money.
A. N.
Probably not the place I'd go for Thai food. But the ambience is great if you just want to enjoy yourself. 5 stars for the venue and music. But deduct 1-2 star for the food itself. The food between each dish shares the same or similar taste. So it gets sickening after a while. Thai food is all about the burst of flavors, sweet, sour, salty. I didn't taste it this night. And the red curry, all it was was spice. No flavour. Spice is used to enhance an existing flavour. But if there's nothing behind the chili, then it's a wasted dish. The green curry was ok.
Soft shell crab. We had the plain and the curry one. Soft shell crab was very soft and tasty. But that was because the crab was tasty, not the prep.
Pad Thai and Pad si ew. Pretty much the same dish. And it shouldn't be. But that's what it tastes like. The pork in the pad si ew was crunchy though. That was nice.
The line up was overrated. I think it added to the disappointment. A long line means great food right? No it doesn't. I'm sure there's plenty to disagree with my opinion so be prepared to wait 30-45 minutes during peak time.
M. A. P.
My first experience eating Thai food in Melbourne and I love it! The food was cheap and delicious. Spicy, tough.
U. N.
Beautiful foods. Would definitely come back next time we in Melbourne.
V. N.
Very good dishes and many choices to select :) Decent prices and nice staff , I recommend it !
Note: Discount of 5% if you pay more than $50.
A.
By far one of the most authentic Thai outfits in Melbourne. We ordered their boat noodles, pad thai, green curry and panang curry - every dish was made to perfection! The chefs definitely know their cuisine, and it rivals some of the Thai restaurants in Bangkok. Green curry was a standout for being kid friendly, yet packed full of flavour. The boat noodle pork broth is packed with just the right amount of aromatics to please the palate, but not to overwhelm the tongue. Will be back for more! Compliments to the chefs! Only downsides is there might be quite a bit of a wait to get a table.
J. D.
🌟 Authentic Thai Food is here
This is my go to place for a king size tomyum noodle soup
L. M.
Awesome - love this place, take care with the hotness scale .. 5 is bloody hot .. start with a 3 or below and work up even if you like it 🔥
A. M.
The ordering process was a little tough using the liven app, but it was manageable.
The wonton soup and pad Thai was delicious but please, please be careful with the spice level you choose. I enjoy a bit of chilli and have it with most meals but just one out of potentially 7 chilli symbols here was a little more than comfortable for me. 🌶️🥵
K.
A must if you like Thai food! So tasty and packed all the time so book beforehand and make sure everyone is there as well!
S. J.
Excellent Thai food at the institution known as Dodee Paidang! We’ve been to 3 locations in Sydney and this one is by far the best managed. Food is on point 👌🏼queuing and ordering system is very organized as well. Som tam tasted just like we were back in Thailand 🇹🇭 🥗 🙏🏼
S.
The waiting is too long. They have a maximum limit of 20 people at a time in a big space but they have more than 40 people cramped up in one place waiting for a table.
The food is undoubtedly great. It’s so YUMMY. One of the best place for Thai food.
Needs improvement in customer service.
J. C.
Friendly staff. Soup is very tasty. Will be back for more.
c. n.
Get in early to avoid the massive lunchtime queues and you won't be disappointed. Quick and tasty food that is a little pricier than your usual Thai takeaway, but totally worth the free extra bucks.
S. W.
Good food, would definitely go again. My Thai friend said it was authentic enough and liked the food too.
The doughnut things with pandan custard are really good, but get extra pandan and custard with it (to get the dough-custard ratio right 😊)
P.
It’s in crowded. It’s in the basement. It delivers on its vibe. Big menu - love the various noodles, which has the option of crazy Asian spicy. The standard ala carte menu are also delightful. Love the papaya salads. Good place to bring a group of friends, order a pitch of cold beer, and listen to the live weekend band. Make sure all your friends have turn up, otherwise back of the line...
S. S.
The pad ped chicken and the whole fried fish was beyond delicious! The place was very very busy on a Monday night, and the service was very hurried. At one point one of the servers actually came to pick my menu up and took it away despite me telling her I’d like to hold on to it to order more food. Nevertheless, I will be back because the food was so delicious. I wish they would work on the service standards though. But highly recommended for fast, reasonably priced and tasty meals.
I. S. J.
One of the best Thai food outside of Thailand. Even compared to some of the best Thai food in the USA, this still come ahead. This restaurant serves seriously good Thai food, stellar!
A. L.
Great atmosphere with live music. Steamed barramundi was delicious. Prices resonable.
D. D.
Highly recommend this place for all Thai food lovers! Price, quality, service and relaxed atmosphere 👌
J. T.
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
This place is very vibrant. We came here just before closing, and there was a band playing.
The restaurant was pretty dark during the time the band was on making it hard to eat but we still enjoyed the experience.
Food was delicious however it did take a bit of time to receive everything we had ordered, that’s why we couldn’t take a picture of everything together.
We ordered the Tom yum noodles level 1, the som tum, moo ping and pad sa ew.
The Tom yum noodles, at level 1 spice was still pretty spicy for me 🌶 however it was packed full of flavours.
The som yum was a bit sour but also really tangy.
Moo ping was probably my favourite, they are so juicy and the sauce that comes with it was so yummy.
Pad sa ew did lack a bit of flavour for me personally however my friends thought it was delicious.
We did also order the Thai milk tea which was very authentic and not too sweet.
✅ 5/10 Service (not much service provided as food was ordered through application)
✅ 8/10food
✅ 5/10 Wait time
k. a.
Been living in Melbourne for 25 years and this is by far the most welcoming, fairly priced and high quality Thai food that exists here! Highly recommend the barramundi with tamarind and the papaya salad options. Thank you doodee🙏❤
T. S.
Best Thai food outside of my own kitchen! Nice chill spot with live band and opens late nights! Highly Recommended to take Thai food lovers and visitors. They don’t take bookings but if you go a little earlier than dinner time, there may be a slight wait only.
N. W.
Love the food! Taste amazing and great prices. The seating arrangement can be better as it was a bit uncomfortable we had many people cramped to one table.
A. b.
Really good food at decent price range... Looks like a small place but when you go down to the basement its huge.. Very quick food service but the quality seems to go little down when you go in friday saturday... Still considering its business.. Its really good.. It would be awesome if entree comes as entree.. Because last time it came after we finished our main meal.
J. G.
Although you have to wait in the queue for at least 30min, it's worth it. The dishes are boasting with flavours, the thought of the food here has gotten me hungry whilst writing this review!! Great to go as a large group so that you can try all of their different dishes.
h. p.
Best thai food. It's quite big but there is always a line to get seated. Service is quick. bit noisy
J. A. F.
Best Thai Street food in Melbourne - Love this place but be prepared to queue up for your seats, well worth it!
K. D.
I'm a big fan of Thai street food and I usually eat twice per week. The restaurant I want to review it's called Dodee Paidang Thai and its in Collins street. The prices are pretty cheap. Especially, the restaurant is busy at midnight.
I love spicy food so Thai food is the best choice for me. Moreover, if you want to find good spaces to have dinner with your family or friends. I think this restaurant is a good choice for you.
Absolutely you should try their food because it's very delicious and the taste is really good. However, you need to choose a level spicy if you can just eat a little spicy. If you go, you should try Pad Thai it's made with rice cake, meat and soybeans. Besides the food, they also have drinks. The drink I always order is Thai milk tea, it's pretty sweet but you should get one. I think you will love it
If you love spicy foods you need to try this restaurant that won't make you feel disappointed. The staff are very friendly and the food is so delicious. I think you must go there if you love street food.
N. K.
Very reasonably priced authentic Thai food with a. Good atmosphere. Keep in mind this place is busy throughout the week and might have to queue up a bit but it's well worth the wait. Different levels of spice on offer so gives you a chance to be a bit adventurous when it comes to how spicy you want the food to be
T. T.
A unique Thai restaurant which reminds me of busy food courts in Bangkok. Great place for large party, especially if you and your guests enjoy live music.
Their extensive menu packs with so many dishes, you will have to come back to try them all. Great portion size, decent taste and cheap pricing. If you don’t mind waiting 30 minutes for a table ( or great at planning your hangout), this restaurant has many good things to offer.
I. P.
Tasty food and great place for a catch-up over lunch however, I found myself waiting for more than 30 minutes for a meal, on too many occasions and two times when the order had gone missing altogether. So, a perfect option if you have the luxury of time and also enjoy the occasional mystery.
There could be a bit of a wait to get a table during lunch time as well but that typically isn't a problem. Service is good, so is the venue. The menu is good but I'd have loved to see more desserts on it.
Z. K.
The food is really good and the staff are really friendly. I found this one is better than the other branch near China Town. Definitely will return. Tom Yum is highly recommended.
Y. L.
Mango with steamed rice is delicious. Big size with good price. Level 2 is already very spicy for me.
s. y.
The best Tom yam in town, the taste is just right, not too sour, not too spicy.
D. W.
Delicious Tom yum! And the skewers had the best chilli sauce.
A. H.
Ordered the steamed chicken on rice for takeaway. The chicken was a bit dry but the dipping sauce was very tasty - it would have been a bland dish without it for sure.
S.
Ordered takeaway from Dodee (through Menulog). The food was absolutely delicious. Fresh crunchy veg, perfect prawns and pork. Fantastic balance of flavours. Highly recommend. Now a firm favourite whenever in Melbourne.
T. K.
This restaurant is great. Great service made us feel comfortable, great atmosphere, got our food quickly despite the full room and a diverse menu. The soups were absolutely amazing. The noodles were soft and good and the broth was flavourful. Perfect sizes of soup and a spectrum of spicy and mild options. Great for dinner and for special occasions!!
N. A.
My new favourite Thai restaurant! I love their curry, especially their red curry! I can't wait to try the rest of the menu. Flavour is awesome and has a good kick to it! Expect to wait during peak period as it gets really busy! Highly recommend
T. S.
Good genuine Thai food, open late too which is a big bonus. Friendly and efficient service. Big selection of things on the menu but the Tom Yum is what they're known for. Be warned though - spiciness is genuinely Thai; the level 2 is plenty hot enough. I think I'd die if I tried level 7 and I like spicy food!
J. C.
Very good Thai food nice and spicy. Very popular but worth the wait.
J. H.
Best Thai. The best Thai I have had to date. Some wait time as it takes no reservations but we’ll worth it. Great vibe, service is decent but can’t deal with the food. Green curry is on point, coconut is light and fluffy, pad Thai is fantastic and soft shell is amazing. DEFINITELY WORTH CHECKING OUT.
T. H. R.
This Thai place was great, its food was spicy, tasty and full of flavour, staff was busy but nice enough. The whole vibe was authentic- feels like you’re in a restaurant in Thailand. However for a casual dinner, the price wasn’t very friendly- the place and food were not sophisticated enough for that price. The crispy pork we had was very hard to chew, even though the taste was good. I will go back for sure - for the cheaper boat noodle.
J. V.
I went there at 1am with my friend. The customer service is quite alright. The drinks aren't too bad. We ordered a Thai Milk Tea and a Lemon Tea. The only thing you should know is that at nighttime, they have a band playing and singing songs, kind of like a bar. Other people might find it interesting but as customers, I am not particularly fond of a bar playing loud music since we can't talk to each other without shouting.
A. N.
Caught up with a friend in Melbourne and he suggested some nice Thai food at this establishment.
The venue is quite large with a spacious dining area in the basement level with plenty of tables. We went on a Saturday night and no reservation was needed.
The staff are quick and attentive and the food came out quickly.
We had the chicken satay and pork neck skewers for starters. For mains we had red curry and pad Thai which were all nice and reasonably priced. The Thai milk tea was decent
Overall pretty decent Thai food at a reasonable price in a central location
우.
I really love this place. The red duck curry is crazy.
A. C.
Staff are very nice and the food tasted very good. Food was also very cheap too.
W. P.
I have been there at dinner time for various of authentic Thai food was perfect. I gave only three stars because of restaurant cleaning, tidy and lighting atmosphere. As i understand there is Thai bar and cafe but i couldn't see my food.
j. l.
good place eats thai food love the dessert
Z. T.
I would say best Thai food in the whole victoria ! I have never been to a better place for Thai food than Doo Dee.
My partner and I are addicted! We live in the opposite side of the city but whenever we are in town, we only go to Doo Dee. That left so many resturants unexplored but no regrets ! The food is so worth the wait and travel. I am writing this review now while eating a less satisfying Thai food from my local resturant hahaha.
S. A.
The most authentic Thai I've ever tasted in Melbourne. Great variety of dishes and desserts. It is very noisy during peak hours so if you don't like too much noise, avoid those times.
J. C.
Amazing vibe, exceptional food and great customer service.
Want a good meal? This is the place.
Want good service? Yep this is it.
Seeking good vibes while munching? Dodee Paidang my friends.
XD
C. B.
So damn good, a favourite lunch place. Pay with cash and you receive 5% off. The cocktails are hit and miss however the fireball is great.
d. d.
Love Dodee, we visit this place weekly for our Thai food cravings. Great service and their curries and noodles are amazinggggg. Definitely recommend!!
R. B.
The best Thai food ever! Lively ambiance, helpful and friendly staffs. The best food experience ever!!
J. J.
Was recommended by a friend, it didn't disappoint the food taste amazing (well my dish did anyway). Reasonably priced, but one thing to be mindful is that it is always full during lunch period, unless you're dining in your own, it is recommended that you turn up early. The only downside to this is that food can take awhile to come out. If you've only got 30min for your lunch break you'll find yourself stuffing your face or requesting a takeaway container.
L. M.
Had a fantastic time and a very good feed! Ate a lot of food for a very good price. It was very busy when we went, but meals came very quickly (about a 5 min wait) and we always felt looked after by the staff. The live music was spectacular and we really enjoyed the night!
s. p.
Tom yum was the best I ever had! They have different levels of heat - from 2 to 7. I had 5, and it was seriously hot. I'll go for 7 next time. If you want to go for lunch, try to be there before 23, otherwise prepare to wait 😜
The only issue I found was some of the waiters hardly understand any English, so make absolutely sure they understood.
Altogether, very nice place with excellent food and great atmosphere.
Recommended.
G. P.
This is not a quiet place. Great for large groups especially when most of the group are trying Thai food for the first time. I ended up ordering a dry dish which was OK. Next time I will probably order the pineapple rice which my colleague enjoyed.
T. T.
Dodee never fails to satisfy. Fair pricing and oh my their noodles are good. We also ordered crispy pork belly and papaya salads. Finished up with fried bread and ice coconut. Great vibe with efficient customer service. Waiting time on dinner weekend could get you queued up for up to 20 mins though. However it is worth the wait. Some people say they have live band later on weekend night. I will be back here again.
s. l.
Great place to visit !!! Nice food and staff
Y. L.
Authentic Thai food, my favorite place to hang out with friends in Melbounre.
A. _.
The location was a bit hard to find and I was reluctant to go underground but once down there it felt alright.
The atmosphere is well, a bar, and its spacious to say.
The Tom Yum Noodle soup was spicy, yet I felt like it was a bit too sweet for my tastes or what I'm used to tasting as traditional Thai food. The Noodles were a bit too chewy but it was an interedting texture. The condiments were very nice as well.
Worth a visit for some famous noodles.
D. O.
Must try: Glass noodle pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Red duck curry
I cannot recommend this place enough. Opens till late most days with super chill vibes and a live band. For the price, it's the best Thai food you can get in Melbourne city. I go there at least once a week and cannot get enough of their food 😍
H. H.
Reasonable price with various dishes to choose from. They also have a lot of Thai street snacks and desserts. My friends and I enjoyed tomyum noodles here.
They do have options for people who can't eat spicy foods as well.
M. G.
This is a hidden restaurant which is located under ground. No bookings are taken here so it's come and line up. It was very busy on a Sunday night but only had to wait about 30mins. The food was great and the range is massive. If you love Thai food you'll love this place.
K. T.
Wow wow wow! Love this place - the food, the ambience and the service! The pork belly was my favourite dish with the crab fried rice trailing close behind. The noodles were also great, cannot fault this place - it had a good live band when we went (Friday night).
K. K.
Pretty good thai street food and very well priced. This subterranean venue may not have any view to speak of but tell you wot, the lunch time queue speaks for itself. It is very popular with Thai people and to me that speaks volumes of the food offering's authenticity. Word of caution, the tom yum soup here is very good and hot. Go for the level 2 or 3 heat level. NOT the level 7!
"Happy hour" beer and snack deal for under ten bucks between 11 and 6 is excellent value too.
W. W.
The food was good and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly. If you go on a Friday night, don't expect to be able to talk to your companion if they park you in front of the band. Besides the bleeding ears, it was a nice, authentic experience.
P. M.
Good food and service, nice atmosphere although a bit noisy. We got there at around 8pm on a Wednesday and we had to wait for a table as it was quite busy. I ordered a pad Thai as main and we had a papaya salad to start. Both were really good.
A. A.
One of best thai restaurant in Melbourne.
I. O.
Good and affordable Thai food in the heart of the city...
R.
The food is absolutely delicious and filling at a great price, really good vegetarian food too! The atmosphere and decor is lovely too. Only downside is that it can be a bit loud and card minimum is $20. But a must go to if you're in Melbourne for delicious Thai food!
F. G.
Really nice Tom yum soup with lots of meat and noodle, if you order the jumbo size one. Really enjoyed the food. Can get quite busy sometimes. Take away might be a good option if it gets too busy.
F.
So busy. Which is a good thing, because the food is way fresher. Thai food that doesn't leave you feeling over-full. The staff are so lovely and helpful, even though they are churning through plates and customers. Will come back.
B. B.
Good food. Have to wait for a table for busy hours.
S. M.
Quick service, chilled place very similar to Asian food halls. Authentic food, but like other reviewers be aware that the options are VERY spicy!! I chose medium and it was the hottest I've ever eaten. Couldn't have more than four bites. Still tasted good though.
A.
Authentic Thai food. Try the Super mama Tom Yum soup if you dare. Great atmosphere on Saturday night with music from band. Nearly always a wait in line before being seated but its worth it when the food is so good.
K. K.
Authentic thai food and atmosphere. The noodel spicy level 2 should be enough to enjoy.
A.
Wondering why I didn’t discover this place earlier.
Boat noodle with Tom yum soup: 5/5
Mango sticky rice: 5/5
S. C.
Incredible place and you know it is good when you see a lot of Thai customers in this huge basement restaurant. A bit hard to find and it is below a hotel and it is not actually located on Little Collins Street but a small lane perpendicular to it between 343 and 363 Little Collins Street, Melbourne but it is all worth it.
The 3 sticks of fish balls with a lot of bear is really worth it and so is the 2 skewed sticks of pork with beer set for less than $10/set.
The Tom-yum soup is very good but can be be very hot and spicy with extreme hotness being no.1 and mild is no.7 or higher.
The stewed pork on rice is nice and the papaya salad was a bit of a disappointment but this is because we did not understand the sauce. We should have ordered the mango salad instead but the papaya s a lad is fine for the Thais.
Overall, it is a great place judging by the huge crowd at noon.
We will be back again.

The soft boiled rice here is amazing comfort food! I love the pepper pork and grilled salmon for a healthyish option. Also love the Tom yum. Very affordable prices too.

Excellent Thai food in a surprise location. Larb, fish cakes - delicious.

Ordered Crispy pork with Prik Khing and Soft boiled rice with pork combination for lunch on Labour Day. Total 26.85 AUD (including 10% public holiday surcharge). Both dishes were full of flavor, no wonder this place is always packed! The portion size was just okay, but the service was quick. They offer a glass of free Thai milk tea or soft drink if we check in or post about them on social media. There is a surcharge for Card payments. Always prepare your cash, as there is a 5% discount for cash payments for orders above $30.

Great place to enjoy Thai noodles and other dishes.

The most amazing tom yum I've had so far! Late night dining in the city centre. I have challenged myself with a 'super nova' grade tom yum what was incredibly spicy and the broth was delish! Great place for big groups and I would recommend it to every Thai food lovers! They also have live music and a bar for drinks to cool down your taste buds. 10/10

Foods here are good and the place is also nicely set up. The environment feels really comfortable and the live music performance also adds up to the vibe. Be wary that you may have to queue for a quite long time during dinner time (around 6-8 p.m.)

Great Thai Tom yum. Such a huge selection, and very tasty. If you like spicy you'll love this place. Beware level 2 is probably plenty spice. I can do spicy but level 3 was way too much...pork skewers are also great. Gets very busy fri/sat, but worth the wait...

Food was quite nice, especially the grilled squid. However, portion sizes are small and inconsistent, ordered 3 salty fish fried rice dishes that all looked very different. Also could do with more chicken in the red curry.

Wow, what a great menu. Lots of choice and some really well out together dishes. I was there at 11:50am and got a table easily. When I left at 12:20 there were 23 people queued so it's definitely popular.

SPICY. Haven't managed to get past Level 5 spiciness yet, but damn is this exciting. The standard spice level is pretty mild, however it does escalate quite a bit by the time you get to Level 3.
Must-orders: Seafood noodles in large to share, quail eggs in wanton skin (trust me, this is good!), pork skewers and mango sticky rice dessert (seasonal). The chicken wings were a bit disappointing though, it was so fried that there wasn't much meat left on the bone.
The Happy Hour deal before 6.30 (?) is very good, with a few beers and entrees to choose from for $10 bucks!

Fantastic find in the city! Authentic thai food and great atmosphere! This place gets really packed during lunch so be sure to arrive early to avoid the line. We have the curry rice and pad thai, was delicious. Can't wait to come back to try everything else !

My favourite fast food eatery in Melbourne... Food is pretty authentic, the prices are good, the service is decent enough for a budget venue... bonus that they open late.
If you’re in a rush though, don’t go during lunch and dinner on the weekends... They don’t accept bookings and as big as the restaurant is, the wait will be at least 30mins.

We came here on New Year's Day and waited almost an hour to be seated, but it was totally worth it! Great food, decent prices and amazing service given how busy it was. This is the best Thai in Melbourne ❤️

The food is nice and tasty, but the size portion is quite misleading. In comparison to other asian restaurants, the jumbo size actually looks like a normal size, while the small size looks like an entree. Therefore, the price is not cheap considering the portion you're getting. They seemed to get an award for being one of the cheapest restaurants, but I don't find it true at all.
I'd recommend to come here if you're looking for a snack.

This restaurant has great reviews on Google and hence we went there for our dinner during our recent holiday in Melbourne and we are happy with their food despite long wait to get in for a Monday night.

Good place for a quick dinner or friends’ chat. I didn’t expect the medium spicy could be that strong. Mild option recommended to those who are not into spicy food. The Jumbo rice noodle wasn’t filled up the bowl. I even questioned waitress whether this actually was Jumbo. This would probably the only bad comment from me. Nice food serving and friendly staff. Reasonable pricing and authentic taste. Worth your try ;)

Amazing quality and authentic Thai quisine you can’t find anywhere else. Incredible lively atmosphere with live music and mood lighting. Beautifully stocked bar with plenty of character. Friendly staff and so efficient. Great value for money. Noodle broth is a must try!

Pleasantly surprised by this slightly off-the-beaten-path location - on a small alleyway down the stairs, not actually on Lt Collins St! The venue was standard for a bustling restaurant, but the food was spicy and very tasty. Great for dinner, very busy at all times though so book if you can or prepare for a wait.

The main (basement) location had a long queue so I left. But when I walked 5 metres up the road, I realised they have an "hole in the wall" location which seats about 10. The food was FABULOUS, cheap and quick. The service was great. It's only a shame I live interstate and can't have their garlic & pepper beef every week.

They used to great few months back, not sure what happened but the dishes does not taste the same any more. May be I went on a bad day.

I’ve been to Dodee twice and I like how yummy yet affordable everything is. They’re known for their specialty noodles. If you go for that, I suggest getting the half soup/half dry noodles.
Their pork neck, crispy pork belly, pad thai and crispy shrimp are also very good. You can easily come here as two or a larger group to enjoy a meal!

Great service with super delicious meals! Makes you feel like you're in Thailand!!! I highly recommend.

One of the best milk teas. Inter place and food.

Really nice Thai Restaurant, will certainly recommend a try. I’ve been told, there’s usually a wait, however during the occasion which I had paid a visit, the line was free and the food was fast. The taste was amazing and the portion was just right!

If you are a group of 4+, you might need to wait for a while to get seated. But once you order you will get your food as soon as possible.
One of the best Thai food that you can taste in Melbourne cbd. Even the mocktail and cocktail is also perfectly made.

I've been to many Do Dee restaurants in Australia. This is one of the best.

Reasonable price, authentic Thai cuisine, and free live music at night.
