Comments of Farmer's Daughters
E. w. J.
We had an amazing experience feasting on the Gippsland Getaway Menu ($110 per person).
Everything was cooked to perfection. I thoroughly enjoyed every single dish and Farmer's Daughters executed each dish impeccably. We added on an additional course of the lamb and we were stuffed. Highly recommend this place if you want to experience amazing Australian fresh produce.

It's was an absolutely amazing experience for my husband and I! Food and service was fantastic. I am lactose intolerant, and my husband doesn't eat fish, so they cooked meals specifically for us. They even gave me their special restaurant baked bread complimentary because they didn't have the one they sometimes sell in stock.

What a great experience, started upstairs for drinks st the bar when table was ready went downstairs stairs to dine. All the dishes were well executed the sauces accompanying the dishes were bursting with rich flavour. Do yourself a favour make booking in advance and enjoy the experience.
S. L.
Great service and food using produce from Gippsland. I was surprised that the soda bread tasted so good. Tried the crumbed fish, O’Connor beef and a side salad. Portion looks small but it was just nice for 2 of us as we are not big eaters.

It’s a beautiful restaurant with a great view at the back and I appreciate the industrial but simplistic design. I must mention that the menu is not too vegan friendly for those looking for that like me. However I have to commend the staff and chef though for being accommodating and preparing my own bowl of oats without dairy and almond milk. If you are planning g a visit I recommend you book ahead as they only allow the seats outside with a view to those who’ve booked ahead of time, even though they sat empty the time we were there. So just call ahead and book and please show up as it seems they will still hold the seats for u even if you late or don’t show. The restaurant has all the potential and it is what you make of it. Enjoy

Excellent, high quality food and drink emporium.
And a delight to find it open for a limited selection of eats in mid-afternoon when most of Melbourne was shut.
Very accommodating and friendly staff.
I would imagine the full menu is stunning.
Only tried the downstairs floor, but it has a roof garden which is probably very cool.

We had a fantastic restaurant experience here. The hero of the dishes is the sensational produce used in the set menu, with every dish just brilliant. The wait staff are also attentive and friendly. Well worth the the booking wait to experience this restaurant.
H. C.
Overall a great experience at the deli. The drinks were lovely and the food was delicious. We didn’t go for the set menu, which looked pretty good too.
E. G. T.
Great experience! We book the chef table with a set menu of 5 courses and it did not disappoint. The chefs are cooking with charcoal, no gas stoves at all. Service was 5 stars too.
m. s.
My partner has been wanting to go here for a while so her birthday was the perfect time. Service was fantastic from the moment we walked in. The server and wine sommelier explained each of the 5 courses. Wine was matched with each dish and sourced from Gippsland.
Wines were fantastic. Food was fantastic. The soda bread was outstanding. Was awesome to sit at the "chefs table" and watch our food being prepared right in front of us.
Thanks for a wonderful meal and celebration.
J. M.
Walked in off the street, how lucky were we. This is probably the best food we have had in Melbourne. The Chef's table was a fantastic experience watching masters at the art of fine food preparation. Sydney could use a venue like this. Otherwise it's a long trip for a memorable meal.
S. T.
Lovely restaurant in Melbourne with attentive wait staff and great ambience.
The food was impeccable - organic seasonal vegetables were fresh and seasoned perfectly, beef cheeks were so soft it melted in your mouth, fish had a great crunch but lightly battered with a refreshing herb sauce and the honey panna cotta was just the right amount of sweetness.
Our only disappointment was that we were still full after our big breakfast that we couldn’t order the chef’s selection to try more dishes!
j. j.
It was great experience with friendly staff and nice food.
Especially, I liked perfectly steamed broccolini and grilled green beans.
Beef check texture was perfect, however it was a bit salty

REVIEW:
Came last night and Farmer's daughters is one of the better fine dining experiences in the area. There are elements which I really enjoyed (shout out to the sweet delicious marshmellow fluff creation in the dessert) but also not so much (the fermented blueberries in the dessert... fam you need to be a little less of an acidic/alcoholic punch in the throat).
The first course was my favourite - the beef tartare had perfect texture, cubed into little bite side pieces, and was a great way to break into the 5 course meal.
Overall, the food was very good... just a bit too much fish for me. I don't like fish that much, so the first dish with the trout was amazing (the white sauce and dill gave me strong french vibes) but the follow up chargrilled Dory made me... sad.
What blew me away was the ox tongue. I have ox tongue often when I KBBQ so I would expect a certain rubbery texture when it's that thick. However, it was tender and more gelatinous, making it closer to a ox tail consistency? Insane!!
Service is friendly, our brunette waitress was extremely bubbly. She was extremely lovely, and we were able to crack a couple of jokes here and there. She made our experience extremely lovely.

Such a wonderful treat to end the year with a showcase of delicious food produced in Gippsland. I have to say every dish inspired me with the flavour combinations and the next night I made a salad with snow peas and radish minimally dressed to bring out the flavour of the produce. Pictured was one of my favourites from the vegetarian menu - the beetroot steak with blueberries!! This combination is a taste sensation. Thanks for sharing with me the freshest vegetables of the region, they are truly the stars of the show.
S. W.
We ate the degustation menu upstairs. Fresh local Gippsland produce: venison, trout, Dory, rib eye, and rabbit. Strong protein focus accompanied with delicate complementary sauces. We also had the cheese macaron which was very tasty. As many have mentioned, the soda bread was a standout. It would be good to have a dish or two showcasing local vegetables and fruits, but you'll enjoy the proteins for sure. Passionate service too!

Farmer's Daughters lived up to our expectations!
Wonderfully showcased fresh and seasonal produce from the Gippsland region, flavours were refreshing bursting with umami. Lovely wine list. Cocktails were delightful.
We had the Gippsland Getaway menu, soda bread with bone marrow butter was heavenly.
My personal favourite was the Eaglehawk Creek pork as the broth was full of flavour.
Our table enjoyed the night with the attentive and professional service of the floor staff.
Tasteful decor, very pleasant and it adds to the dining experience.
Will be back for the Deli menu at a less busier time of the year.
Thank you for bringing beautiful fresh produce to the heart of Melbourne.

Highly recommended!!. Some of the best food we have tried in Melbourne. The Gibbsland getaway menu where I think all of the food is sourced from Gibbsland. Great service by the team.
My wife and I enjoyed every moment. Favourite dish is hard to pick but I think the O'Connor's beef and Venus bay clams was the winner.. wow!. Looking forward to coming back in 3-4 months to see how the menu rotates. It was good to try rabbit.. very unusual for me. Thanks for a good experience 🥰
Please note for those coming for first time.. the restaurant is upstairs and is only chefs menu.. downstairs is the deli / bar food area with a different menu.
J. K.
Amazing!! We dined on the Saturday lunch service in the Deli for my sisters birthday. From start to finish it was a fantastic experience. The food was delicious, the drinks amazing and the staff (especially the young man who served us) were the best I have ever encountered. We cant stop talking about our lunch experience the best we have had in years and can't wait to try the dinner service and bar. Make sure you try the cocktails and desserts ;)
S. K.
Such a lovely place to catch up with friends for a nice long lunch. 4 of us shared soda bread and marinated zucchini to start. Now soda 'bread' is misleading it is more like dense cake and oh my goodness so so delicious. In fact not only did we order more we asked if it was available to takeaway and it was because it is that popular. 2 of us brought the smaller loaf at $12 each while bigger size available for $24. For main I the vegetarian had the potato and leek pie while the others had crumbed fish, lamb rump and beef cheek. And we shared fries and salad. All delicious. Then somehow we squeezed in the 3 cheeses, which was served with more delicious soda bread, but this time toasted. Coffees (flat whites, decaf soy lattes, double strength decaf almond lattes) all very good too. And of course alcohol, dry sparkling, merlot and beer. Only criticism when place full can be very noisy and when my friend leaned over to say shame so noisy, I replied 'what' because yes I could barely hear her!! Also our waitperson Ayaka was fantastic answered all menu questions without having to check and remembered our complicated coffee orders. Thanks Ayaka!

Farmers Daughters takes you on a culinary journey through Regional Victoria, except you’re right in the Melbourne CBD. It boasts 3 levels, The Deli, The Restaurant and The Rooftop, each with its own unique menu and offerings highlighting seasonal Gippsland produce. The team is lead by Executive Chef @chefalejandrosaravia whom you may know from @pastusorestaurant.
We dined in the Restaurant which offers the Gippsland Getaway menu for $110pp (matching wines available). The degustation will leave you completely satisfied with its generous 9 courses, I was impressed that only 3 of those dishes were shared - this is exactly what I expect with this price point.
I highly recommend opting for the Chefs Table, it doesn’t cost any extra and you get that little bit of special service when the chefs bring and explain to you each course. With an open kitchen you see how well organised and trained they are and appreciate the work that goes into your meal.
Everything was impeccable, faultless, from food to service, I cannot commend it enough. My favourite dishes were the Alpine Trout and my first ever time trying Venison, I’m hooked.
I have already rebooked to return next week, this time for The Deli menu. I can’t wait.
D. U.
Wow.. went for a team lunch. Started at the upstairs bar with friendly service and then headed down for the main event. Had the set menu that did not disappoint. Very friendly service will come back.
D. J.
If I could give more stars I would. This was a postponed Birthday celebration for a very close friend & from the moment you arrive its simply amazing.
We dined in the restaurant with set menu, we also opted to select our own bubbles & wine, but I would suggest you try the paring, it looked rather good. The food is just so on point, the flavours are matched perfectly & the portions are just the right size. They are also very accomodating to any dietary requirements.
The service is beyond perfect, our wonderful waitress just made the night even more fun.
If you don't have a booking, I suggest you keep trying as you will be blown away !!
C. S.
Tried the rooftop bar, no hassles getting a table later in the night. Extensive drinks menu, the cocktail menu was unique and had some really well balance drinks. Staff were friendly and gave us some free olives to apologise for a slight delay in drinks. Fennel and gin cocktail was really tasty and different, a must try.
Y. B.
This place is amazing! With lots of good vegan and vegetarian options. The service is amazingly good and all wait staff are super kind. It's better to book it in advance as they are always full. Plus, you can enjoy your before meal on their upper floor. They have a secret rooftop bar on the third level with amazing and well priced drinks. I strongly recommend getting a Paloma there before your meal.
S. B.
Absolutely amazing food, first weekend out of lockdown and could not have asked for a better way to kick it off. Callum was super friendly and always answered our questions. Plus we got offered blankies which was super nice since it was cold at the start of our brunch. Highly recommend it as it has a lot of great food and especially the sauces are out of this world!
B. M.
Do yourself a favour. Great meal, impeccable service, wonderful atmosphere. Had the fixed $70 lunch menu. The two of us were able to sample all items on the special menu. Best fresh Gippsland produce.
B. P.
Amazing! Beautiful decor, fantastic service all matched by quality food. Highlights were the Black Pudding, the best I’ve ever had with a beautiful crust and juicy flavourful coarse filling and the sweet perfectly cooked Crumbed Fish.Watching the chef on the pans work her magic was worth the price of the meal, she was fantastic, pumping out quality food through a busy lunch service. Chocolate mouse was ultra decadent and the batch coffee a nice finish. Nothing but quality at Farmers Daughters.
A. T.
Food: Had the set menu. Was great, tasty..fancy that everyone will take photos of their plates.
Service: Amazing staff and made sure to greet me as I walked to a mate, they came up after and apologised for missing me at the door…
Also very cool rooftop bar, a bit of a wind tunnel on a cold clear Melbourne day but plenty of heaters and blankets available. Amazing all Australian bar..gin, whisky..all there..
M. C.
Perfect place for a light dinner superbly presented in a timely fashion. Great ingredients and nice presentation were worthy of note. The kitchen team were great and accessible for any questions. The wait staff were helpful and pleasant to deal with.
A pressing football engagement left little time but the team were true to their word and the meals were delivered within the promised timeline.
I would be very happy to return on a future visit to Melbourne.
J. M.
Great atmosphere in here for Friday lunch on the ground floor.. The chef's menu came out quick and didn't stop coming ! Plenty of food for our 4 person party. The trout rillette was lovely and the beef cheeks were basically falling apart when they landed.. can't wait to try upstairs next..
M. C.
Thanks so much for having us and being so accommodating. Loved eating on the roof top. It has great ambience. Looking forward to returning.
E. R.
We had the Chef Selection 3-course lunch today and what an experience! Everything was well presented and the taste didn’t disappoint. Ingredients were fresh and we enjoyed watching our food being assembled in front of us as we were seated at the bar table having just walked in without prior booking. The service was also excellent! I can highly recommend.
J. L.
Great food with nice decor and a relaxed environment in the deli seating. Highly recommend the lamb rump
R. L.
Best food find in years.
Excellent service and glorious food.
The "Deli" is not so in the normal terms, but a delightful "light" restaurant.
Would be very hard to beat.
Highly recommended.
J. K.
Lunch set menu $'s / head, due to coming out of 4th Covid lockdown.
Set menu for 2 people to share, "except" for dessert, on a table of 4. We had to share dessert for 2 people, between 4 people, even though we paid a set price for each person!
The fact was they ran out of one of the desserts!
That was the only issue we had.
Food is good quality, good selection of dishes to please most people.
Ambience is comfortable, we were packed in, and time limit per table.
Service was rushed, though done in the best friendly manner, due to the many bookings they had that day. Should settle down once they get consistent bookings and days.
C. B.
The Soda Bread is amazing, and the meal only got better from there. Farmer's Daughters provide very little intervention thus allowing the local produce to shine, something many restaurants try and fail to do. The chocolate mousse is so good, I transcended to the astral plane and had an out of body experience. 14/10 would go again.
J. F.
It was so nice being back for dinner at Farmers Daughters and they sure did not disappoint. Everything from our greeting/welcome back to the incredible service of our lovely French/Canadian waitress. Outstanding!!
Of course, the food and wine was perfectly paired.
We will be returning very soon for sure.
B. B.
Excellent food, with friendly staff! It's a great place to celebrate a special occasion. The venue is really nice. We sat at the bar where we could see the kitchen in front of us. I enjoyed seeing how the food was being prepared and how they tried their best to maintain the quality.
M. v. d. V.
Service was excellent and all dishes consistently good. Price of 5 course Gippsland Getaway menu was apparently just increased from $110 to $125, which is not cheap, but justified by the quality of the dishes. The venison and tongue might have been the best pieces of meat I ever ate.
As mentioned by others I find it a bit annoying that effectively an 8-12% tip is requested (which you can ignore) when paying the bill. One would think that a price of $125 already includes quality service.
M. R.
Absolutely loved it. From the initial welcoming of our hostess to our orders taken and food delivered it was faultless. The food came beautifully presented and quickly 😍 and tasted so good. We loved the freshness and care given to the produce. It's great to see Chef and kitchen staff walking the talk !
O. K.
Fantastic dining experience at Farmer’s Daughters this week - we loved just everything.
The atmosphere was right, the service attentive and friendly and importantly all dishes in the set menu were packed with quality ingredients and flavorful. The beef tartare was simply the best we’ve had for a while. Grilled skin-on John Dory was crispy and moist … and the bread. Yummy ! We’ll be back and certainly recommend.
N. R.
We had our wedding reception upstairs in the rooftop space at Farmer's Daughters late December 2021. The location, space, food, drink, staff - everything was perfect. Simone helped us organise everything at pretty late notice amongst covid cancellations/restrictions. The space has a great vibe. The food was delicious. And the staff are amazing. They couldn't have made our day easier and more enjoyable for us.
We have separately eaten in the restaurant, and been to the rooftop for a cocktail/nibble - and the same glowing recommendation applies.
S. H.
Amazing night. We were given a voucher as a present, and have been trying to get a spot for ages..... it was worth the wait! We were seated in the restaurant and we had the 5 course degustation menu, which was delicious (I recommend getting the extra course as well!). My partner was very late due to work issues, and all the service staff (especially Amanda) were so accommodating and kind to me. Cannot wait to come back again soon.
E. J.
Love this place. Gorgeous staff and great food and drinks. Also, amazing ethos around local produce and bringing the best of Victoria’s food bowl to Melbourne dining.
H.
Very unique experience, first time had the food without having the menu. A great journey of experience through the food and wine from the Gippsland area. Staff are very friendly and explained the food and wine thoroughly but my only issue was everything was just too rare. Would've been nice to ask how would we like the meal, I'd rather had it medium.
L. B.
Food is simple and delicious and shines a spotlight on the freshest produce from local suppliers.
Great service too.
We were lucky to get a seat as walk-ins. We ended up sitting at the bar and enjoyed watching the chef's put together the entrees.
I. L.
A little underwhelming. Service was good. Promptly seated and looked after. Food and drinks came out quickly. Expected something a little more special particularly with the fish - seemed like good fish and chips for a cafe by the beach. Portion size seemed too small - we really got stuck in to the chips to feel full, which took the prize of the tastiest dish. Not in a rush to come back.
A. K.
Food & service was lovely. Had the Soda bread (loved it so much I bought a whole loaf back with me! Didn’t last longer than a day), Beef Cheeks & Leek pie. Beef cheeks were beautifully tender & the leek pie was divine. Will come back even if just for the Soda bread!
G. G.
As always the team were very inviting , warm and fun . Good suggestions for a quick bite and a killer wine choice ! See you next time !
P.
Love this place!! I had a great experience here. I don’t mind to come back ASAP. We tried the set menu, 5 courses. The rye bread with butter was super tasty! Highly recommended to try .. make sure you have a booking. Don’t forget to go to the rooftop upstairs :)
S. S.
Excellent! Rooftop bar and dining room this visit. The vegetarian menu is 💯
J. H.
We’ve attended this restaurant twice in the last month. We were pleasantly surprised with the care and friendliness of the staff. The food was impeccable and the wine introductions at the table were interesting and made for a fun and educational addition to our night. Our friends loved their food as well. Everyone was happy! Can’t beat that.
H. N.
Came here on my partner’s bday. We had great experience. The price is good. The quality of the food is great. I love all the dishes we had. Especially the soda bread. It’s amazing. The atmosphere is good except it’s smoky and smelly (the smell of food sticks on our clothes and hair). But it makes sense since it should taste like ‘camping food’. Will come back.
R. L.
My husband and I went and had lunch at the Deli part of the restaurant.
🙌🏼 Service was amazing! My husband got there early and they moved us onto a nicer table. Staff so friendly and helpful with food and wine selection, as we had chefs lunch menu.
👍🏻 Food was so, so good! I just loved the fact that all the produce was sourced locally and from small farms and not just the food even the wine!
I encourage to book a table at FD you won’t be disappointed.
Looking forward to taking other family and friends there!!!!!
P. H.
This place is a gem, filled with very well made and vibrant dishes. I’ve only dined in the Deli area because you get to choose your own dishes without getting onto a degustation. Their portion are great for sharing and tasting a bit of everything. My favourites include their steak, crumbed fish and soda bread with brie.
D. C.
We dined here last Thursday and absolutely loved it. Staff were attentive, very knowledgeable and seemed to just really love what they were doing. Trout was a stand out, as was the soda bread (we had a lot - thank you!) Looking forward to returning and trying the Deli soon!
J. B.
Being Gippsland born and bred, I was very excited to hear about a restaurant devoted to produce from the area where I grew up. While our expectations were high they were certainly met.
The venue is nicely decorated space where you have either a view of the kitchen or the street.
Service was exceptional. Jack, our server was exceptional, with expert knowledge of both food and wine.
The food was great. Each dish in the set menu featured a different ingredient, and made the produce sing. They also flowed from one to the other - crudo to baked trout, to pork, to venison and then desert.
What was also great was the wine pairing. Each wine suited the dish, and it was exciting to try wines that we had never heard of before. Will definitely return to Farmer's Daughters soon.
A. D.
We went here to celebrate a birthday and sat in the “Restaurant” section and had the set menu, and it was absolutely delicious. The staff were lovely and very knowledgeable, and even included a birthday candle on the celebrant’s dessert. One of the best dining experiences we’ve had, highly recommend!
K. L.
I was lunching with two friends and we had a wonderful time. Staff were friendly but professional. Food was outstanding. We loved the whole Gippsland produce concept and it lived up to the hype. Our gin and ginger cocktail was a great appetiser! Highly recommended. Good vibe.
D. S.
A really lovely restaurant - we dined in the Diner downstairs which felt relaxed but still a lovely ambience. The chefs selection money was such great value for money and everything was delicious. The highlight was the desserts - wow!! Have already booked to return. Staff and service was also exceptional
T. H. (. C.
Very hearty farm food. Superbly cooked soulful beef cheeks falling off while pinkish. Buttery and fluffy pork pie perfect for a winter night.
M. C.
Compelled to write a review. Had an outstanding experience at the restaurant opting for the degustation and Icon wine pairing. Food was exceptional and the wine matching was spot on. Staff in the rooftop bar and the restaurant are a cut above. Atmosphere tasteful and intimate. Very highly recommended.
S. S.
Great service, food and drinks. Taste and presentation of food was very good. Will definitely come back again. Really enjoyed our lunch here.
K. L.
Fresh and delicious food. Fantastic flavours. Great for sharing and service was great as well.
Y.
Omg! Best lunch I have had in ages. The 3 course chef selection was fantastic! The presentation, taste, texture, variety of ingredients that just blended perfectly. Do yourself a favour and go and indulge yourself! Taste sensation.! Thanks to the chefs and waiters who were friendly, professional and more. Will definitely be back again and again! Soda bread with honey was crunchy and so thick, I thought it was a slice of brownie. Delicious. Steak was crispy and cooked perfectly as well. Well done!
E. B.
Delicious food that showcases great local produce. Love the small shared dishes perfect for a summer lunch. Friendly and knowledgeable service added to our experience. Can't wait to return.
J. F.
We really loved our full experience at your restaurant. From the food, to the staff, to the ambience, it was all such an enjoyable night and we appreciated the focus on Gippsland produce. Thank you for making the night such a special one and we look forward to visiting again soon.
J.
Really enjoyed dinner! Amazing delicious food and great service. Highly Recommend a visit! Although I wish there were a few more mocktail options! Will definitely return in the future
J. C.
A superb evening from start to finish...lovely ambience, good service, yummy wine and great food. Love the flexibility to allow us to have our dessert at the roof terrace, lovely way to end the evening. Would highly recommend and go back anytime 😊

EXACTLY WHAT YOU THOUGHT IT'D BE ... AND SO MUCH MORE
They pay respect to the producers of Gippsland and that means so much and we stand behind it fully!
The food is simple and exceptional - the produce shines through - no gimmicks, nothing pretentious on the food, just beautiful produce and delicious flavours.
We decided on the Summer Getaway Menu for $110 which was worth it so much - there was so much food for the amount of money - we actually thought it was cheap for all that they brought out - just check the pics if you don't believe us.
There were two dishes that stood absolutely out for us that we could go back for more.
The House baked soda bread w cultured cream was literally the best bread we had - like ever.
The Baked Baw Baw Alpine trout, mountain pepper cream, trout caviar - such a well-thought through dish, the sauce, you could literally spoon it out and just have it on its own. The fish was cooked to perfection - slightly pink in the middle, it was falling apart - just perfect.
Service is super attentive and knowledgeable. They are really trying to delve into the producer and bring that experience to the table.
Do yourself a favour and check out the rooftop - you'll want to get some extra few cheeky drinks before you head off.
A. G.
Excellent food and service. Venison was fantastic as was the pavlova dessert. Glad that the roasted cabbage (from previous visit) is no longer on the menu. Had dinner drinks at the rooftop bar which had a nice relaxed vibe.
D. R.
Two of us went there for a late lunch. We got their early and our table was not ready so we sat at the bar. The spot at the bar was very nice and we decided to stay there. The staff were fantastic, very attentive, helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Our seats at the bar overlooked part of the food prep area and even the kitchen staff were engaging.
The food was fantastic. I enjoyed the terrine which had a nice comb of spices. The flavour of the rockling was subtle and the fish was still nice and firm. Both the Zucchini and Panzanella dishes were especially flavourful. The beef cheek was very tasty and tender. You can eat with a spoon it is so tender. The only disappointment was the potato fries which we found ordinary
I. N.
10/10 dining experience. We got the Chef's Menu. The hostess was kind enough to swap out some dishes to cater to my dietary requirements. Everything was cooked beautifully & it's always nice to support your local farmers.
Amazing food & drinks. Will be back for sure 😊
M. A.
A fantastic experience. Great food, wine, staff. The wine pairings were spot on.
T. H.
Been here twice, once a walk-in in the downstairs area for lunch and once upstairs for dinner.
Both meals were fantastic and I don’t think the food could be any fresher. The soda bread is divine.
I prefer the lunch sitting for ala carte selection
R. D.
Loved Farmer's Daughters. The food is fresh, the mix of flavours are out of this world, and the service is fantastic. I really want to come back and do a tasting menu!
D. L.
Went last night and did the Chef's Table with my partner and sister. Such a perfect night! Staff were lovely and attentive, ambience was relaxing, got to sit near the kitchen but didn't get any of the heat or smoke, food/drinks were excellent. The list goes on.
Loved the detail of the leather food/drink mats and menus too.
If I were splitting hairs then I'd say the high bar chairs could be more comfortable. Back support is a bit low and it's hard to hook the feet on something. Could also be I have bad posture 😅 or I was so full it was hard to stay upright. Regardless, it's such a tiny "gripe". Wouldn't stop me from going back or recommending.
Thank you for such a wonderful and enjoyable night!
J. C.
We dined in the deli section and could not fault our evening! Our server was warm and welcoming, the food came out in a timely manner and was seriously high quality. Thank you so much for a lovely night out.

Had the “tour of Gippsland” chefs table experience in the restaurant level. Great quality food from the regions. Nice to see them prep the food - but it ain’t Gordon’s kitchen so not much drama 🤣. Flavour of the food is good but not something I would rave about - don’t get me wrong, it was delicious, but if you’ve been to a few fine dining places it’s doesn’t standout. Ambience is excellent, service is excellent. I’m not a drinker, but looking at their displays and the next table, their wine pairings seems on par. All in all, I will return. 😋
F. P.
Had a wonderful experience at Farmer’s Daughters. We had the chefs selection and every meal was amazing. We were lucky enough to be sitting at the bench in front of the larder section so we got to see the kitchen team at work. What a well oiled machine!
E. F.
Booked for dinner in between acts of the Harry Potter play and couldn’t have been happier with the proximity to the theatres and the easy nature of the deli. Great service and great food. Went for the chefs selection and it made for a relaxing evening with well paced courses . I may have to return sooner than expected for the choc mousse.
J. C.
Friendly service from the minute we made the booking. Couldn’t fault the food or wine pairings everything was delicious especially as they catered to our fussy food allergies. Thank you to everyone - you we’re all so friendly and knowledgeable
J. Y.
Superb "farm to table" fare. Chef catered specifically for dietary requirements, it almost felt like a private dining room. Absolutely recommended.
V. M.
High quality local Victorian produce superbly prepared and presented by skilled chefs and friendly, professional staff, however its the food that's the absolute hero here. We were a bit rushed with the 1.5 hr time limit and many dishes with generous serves on the excellent set menu, and would have preferred to be able to eat in a less hurried, more leisurely pace, but appreciate need for 1.5hr sittings. Highly recommend for those who rate excellent local quality food above most other attributes. Suggest do a la carte for less time pressured meal or go with bigger party without imposed time limit.
J. C.
We had the deli Chef’s selection and everything was delicious and well priced. Staff was friendly and attentive. It was an enjoyable experience! Can’t wait to go back again.
R. H.
Delicious cocktails, beautiful Gippsland produce and wines, great atmosphere and amazing wait staff. We loved three out of the five dishes, apart from 3rd course and the dessert.
J. W. v. H.
We went for dinner, service was excellent - a lot of people so a little loud but food was excellent - we had the set menu with matching wines. very local produce and wines. Just excellent . Thanks for a great night

[3.5 Stars]
Nice dining experience - great food, beautifully styled dining room, and charming service. We did the full “taste of summer” menu. Nice mix of items all nicely plated and presented.
The rosè wine recommended by the sommelier was just about okay.
My only real negative would be the amount of wood-fire smoke billowing out of the kitchen during dinner - our clothes and hair reeked of smoke after dinner. That would put me off visiting again.
Loved the rooftop cocktail terrace- delicious cocktails and great service.
The deli on the ground floor looked really good too, and was packed when we left - need to try that next time.
A. C.
I highly recommend Farmer's Daughters. We had the Gippsland degustation w matching Gippsland wines and it was fantastic. Portions were on point, flavours and presentation were sensational. They paced the set really well - it felt like everything came out right on time. Shout out to the Sommelier who made some amazing matches and his enthusiasm was as genuine as his engagement. And I really like being able to see the kitchen work their magic and they were clearly a well oiled machine.
The wait staff were excellent - attentive, efficient, friendly, professional - seemed like they were enjoying themselves.
Nothing in the place felt overdone, it was simple elegance. The atmosphere was light and comfortable and they've paid attention to some really nice details with the décor, settings and textures - matching timber, metal, cloth and hand crafted leather that made it all feel kinda earthy and connected to the farms whose produce we'd enjoyed over the evening.
In the end, 5 out of 5, would recommend and will definitely go back for another round.
K. D.
Our recent dining experience was a 10/10, from the many attentive staff to the magnificent Gippsland food & wine we were able to sample, then after dinner we retreated to the rooftop bar for a cocktail to finish off the night, bravo Farmer's Daughters, we will be back :)
S. C.
Great experience. The service was above and beyond. Thank you for coping with half our table getting stuck in traffic. Loved the food - and as we are from Gippsland appreciated the show casing of our local produce.
a. b.
Diego was super friendly when my family and I went to this venue on a Saturday night. The customer service was excellent as well as the cocktails. We will definitely be attending again.
S. G.
Superb drinks, food and service. Since it was our first time at this restaurant we went with the waitresses recommendations. The Farmer’s Collins cocktail was a great drink. The soda bread was so good my husband came back for a loaf from the deli the following day. We had the crumbed fish, the butcher’s cut and the potato and leek pie. All very tasty. Will be back the next time we are in Melbourne.
S. L.
Great ambience, food presentation and to top it up with yummy food as well. Must visit when in CBD
E. H.
The decor is lovely, food delicious and service was perfect. My only disappointment was that they didn’t have any more of the bread available for purchase to take home. That loaf was so scrumptious!
D. U.
Lively atmosphere in the Deli attending post theatre (Hamilton). Excellent quality produce from Gippsland is allowed to shine. Treated simply and respectively, with creativity and the perfect balance of spice and all things nice. The service was friendly and informative and they catered for our fructose and gluten free diners. Highly recommend the Burrata with zucchini, smoked chilli an preserved lemon. Lamb was to die for and the beans, oh the beans, so fresh. Yum, Yum, Yum.
J. P.
Incredible meal, beautifully matched wines. Enjoyed watching the Chefs mentor a younger Chef. I hope he does well. One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Somm was also charming and funny with some amazing wine too! Thanks team.

Having been unable to celebrate my partner's milestone birthday in 2020, I had booked Farmer's Daughters for a special evening out - and thankfully we got there with lockdowns lifted in Melbourne! The team were welcoming and attentive, with my request for particular seating taken care of. The evening lived up to expectations with delicious food, excellent wines and responsive staff. The menu leans heavily to the proteins served (which are fantastic), but would benefit from some more vegetables etc. The offer of a nightcap at their rooftop bar was also a nice touch. The concept of showcasing the local produce of the Gippsland region was very appealing and we loved it - would just like to see more of the non-protein regional produce focused on in the menu. Would absolutely return to Farmer's Daughters.
J. C.
The staff are always amazing. The food was great and outstanding wine. Had another amazing night thank you.
V. H.
Great venue and ambience. Food is creative and delicious. Service was friendly and professional. We had a great night!
S. R.
Wow! Started with drinks on the rooftop, then moved to the deli for dinner. So beautiful. Food amazing. Highly recommend.
K. L.
Everything about the dining experience at Farmer's Daughter was exquisite. I had an exceptional meal in restaurant. The food is amazing, and the service is first class. I can't wait to come back again.
G. D.
Wow! These folks have gone out on a limb and taken a big risk. And their courage and conviction is now paying off in spades. Every dish hit the mark not a false note. And we felt so proud knowing all of the produce came from our local farmers, fisherman and makers in Gippsland. Elegant simple bold and comforting all in the one forkful....more they cried....Greg Dee

Maybe I had high expectations when I was there. The service was great! But the food was just OK. This restaurant is in the list of top 10 or top 20 Melbourne restaurants but the food is way too simple. Lamb was great, potato fries were soggy and I was even surprised to see fast food on the fine dining table.
C. H.
Great staff, great food! Even took home a loaf of the wonderful bread! We’ll be back soon. TY for a great lunch.
H. M.
Is was worth the wait. For so many months we've been salivating at the prospect of dining at Farmers Daughters & we were not disappointed. The atmosphere in the Dining Room is buzzing and stylish - with no pretence -just welcoming.
The very robust & 'meaty' fare, made our table very happy. Every dish was just delicious and the right size. My personal fav was the Venison with cabbage & beetroot (like you've never had them before)! The wines were sublime and our the 'Bloody Shiraz cocktail' to start was perfection.
The wait staff & sommelier were friendly and available without too much fuss. 5/5 stars.
C. W.
A group catch up and dinner had at Farmers Daughter was amazing. From the time we walked in, to the moment we left, we were treated to the best of service and most amazing food. We had the grazing banquet and there was more than enough for everyone. We will be back regularly.
B. C.
Had the best meal here with my husband last night. The food, wine, staff, venue and vibe were all fantastic!! Literally wouldn’t have changed a thing. Great job guys!!
Y.
Love this beautiful place! Food was awesome, staff was friendly and well known about food and beverages. It was enjoyable to seeing the open kitchen from the bar.
K. T.
Exceeded expectations. The food and atmosphere were both wonderful. A brilliant restaurant, amazing staff.
O. C.
We had a beautiful dinner, every dish was delicious, especially the bread! The service was also first class. Thank you

If you haven't made it to Farmer's Daughters in Melbourne yet, do yourself a favour!
Featuring all Gippsland produce and drinks, this restaurant is not to be missed.
Every course in the Chef's Selection was magnificent and the servings were very generous.
I will definitely be back. So good. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
#proudgippslandian #visitgippsland #foodandfibregippsland

We loved the interior the staff were amazing also food was wonderful. Loves the fish particularly would of loved some chips with the venison or some accompaniments in general to go with the courses but can’t wait to go back and check out the roof top bar
J. L.
An absolutely superb night, faultless, from service, ambience, food and wine. It was our first night out in Melbourne since dreaded lockdown and expected a nice evening but would have respected if things weren't up to the hype. Completely exceeded all expectations, Farmers Daughter will definitely be on the Melbourne dining out repertoire. Thanks for a great night FD and see you soon. Cheers
R. L.
Amazing experience and amazing food. We sat at the Chef's Table in the restaurant and saw how flawless their process is. Quite incredible how well-oiled their process is! My favourite was the Verizon
C. M.
Was recommended by a friend and have to say was excellent- the food really delicious and service impeccable - so friendly. Would definitely go again
C. R.
Delicious food, excellent friendly service and a beautiful setting - ticked all the boxes for us. Such a great place for a Melbourne local or visitor to explore the food and wine bounty that Victoria has to offer. A magic night!
A. E.
Delightful dinner with my beautiful wife.. what can I say the wine the food and the service were all exceptional. A super talented team making a wonderful dining experience .
Thanks Dave, Scott, Matt and Callum !
K. K.
We had such a beautiful dinner at Famers Daughter, our waiter was so friendly and helpful and the food was perfect! Highly recommend
S. L.
Didn’t take all the photos while the food was overall fresh and delicious. But the environment was a bit noisy for me.
C. T.
Delightful service from everyone throughout our entire stay
Food was well priced and served beautifully.
They remembered that it was my birthday and celebrated with a candle. It made it special.
We will be returning soon.

After returning to Melbourne following the long hiatus of closed borders, it was not only exciting to be back but finding this absolutely stunning food experience was the icing on the cake. Farmer's Daughter is worth the trip.
R. c.
From entrance to exit- This venue seems a well oiled operation! Very warm welcome and invited upstairs. The ‘Gippsland Getaway’ journey and campfire story begins and gets you in the right space, as the sweet smell of food being cooked over charcoal enters the dining room on cue! Beautiful dishes and produce, very well executed … Wonderful night out, great flow to the menu and really fantastic staff and service! Will be back! 😊 ohh the bread…. 😋
M. M.
From our prelunch drink at the Rooftop Bar to the last delicious mouthful of lunch in the Deli, it was a wonderful experience! The food was beautifully prepared and presented; the service was faultless! Would highly recommend! Great showcasing of Gippsland food and wine!
I. F. R.
Best restaurant we have tried in Melbourne so far. The quality of the food is outstanding, with exciting combination of flavours and for a wonderful dining experience.
i. k.
Walked in without booking. And the staff still very welcomed and help me to get the table. Got lamb rump so very tender in good portion. Will definitely come back and bring my family for dinner.
D. W.
Went for the feed me option, seated at the chef's table. Great service but forgettable food for the price
L. M.
From the moment we walked in and were greeted by name we had a wonderful experience. My friends and I had the $75 chef’s selection menu, accompanied with two bottles of Pinot Noir. The food was beautifully put together and each dish complemented the next. Our waiter was attentive and friendly but never annoying or overly familiar, while the plates came out at a good speed. Highly recommend, one of my favourite places to dine.
A. H.
An incredible experience from the moment we walked in until we left. The service was incredible with staff clearly passionate about the food. The food was sensational. The venison, pork and soda bread the stand outs for me. And desert was a great finale.
A. S.
Such a beautiful space, fitout and concept. Modern Australian food and Ingredients all local. The staff are super friendly and attentive and happy to accommodate where need. The food is just beautiful! Great serving sizes, and the flavours are on point. Well balanced and will leave you wanting to come back for more. Downstairs is the deli cafe/restaurant, mid level is the restaurant and upstairs is a beautiful rooftop bar. Definitely go try, you won't leave disappointed.
K. S.
Amazing birthday experience. We were late due to traffic but not made to feel that we inconvenienced them.
Seated at the "chefs table" / bar gave us a great view of all the food preparation. Lots of attention to detail and editing to make sure the dish was just right before serving.
A great mix between vegetable, seafood and meat dishes topped by a tasty and not too sweet dessert.
Attentive service, regularly checking in to see how everything was. Confidently able to say excellent every time.
Thank you for an amazing last night before lockdown #5.
T. L.
Consistently delicious food, and staff have just the right amount of attentiveness. I have eaten here several times around the lockdowns and always look forward to and enjoy all elements of the meal. The soda bread is amazing!
A. P.
Good quality food, simple menu. Great service topped off the experience.
B. S.
Interesting experience at Farmer's Daughters. Food was fantastic, aside from dessert (truly inedible chocolate mousse), but clearly short staffed, and perhaps short on plates too. Was addressed as "honey honey honey" on arrival... don't do that. Took a looong looong time for someone to take drinks order... and even longer with the food order. Our booking was for 13:30... we didn't have drinks until after 14:15. And then it was another 20 or so minutes before we could find a waiter free to take food order (had to get up and go ask someone to come and take the order). Considering the price, and the overwhelming 5 star reviews, had much higher expectations.
Weirdest thing was our bread plates being removed from the table, and then when we asked for them back so we could eat the lovely soda bread, we were told to wait for our entrees/entree plates which were 10 min away. Reason given was the tables being cluttered... honestly, very odd.
Another disappointment was the customer service prior to our booking. It was our Xmas office lunch, so I asked to book the rooftop for after lunch so we could carry on. Was told bookings weren't possible but it would be fine to head up as it opened at 3pm and there wouldn't be much of a chance for it to get busy before we got up there. I confirmed everything a few days beforehand... nothing was said about the rooftop being fully booked. In these covid times, it made it very hard for us to find another bar to go to last minute... would have appreciated an update so as I could have booked elsewhere. Food was great, customer service definitely not up to the standard it should be. Not sure i would revisit.
S. T.
Had their set menu in the deli and highly recommend! Appreciate their flexibility to accommodate dietaries. Soda bread was an absolute stand out, as was the burrata and chocolate dessert.
R. J.
Fabulous food in the restaurant, great service & atmosphere.
We enjoyed our time in the rooftop bar too where they have an extensive range of local beers & whiskies.
J. G.
Absolutely brilliant dining experience. Delicious food, excellent wine list and fabulous staff. I’m definitely coming back.
B. B.
From walking in to leaving the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. We had the Feed me menu in the Deli, and it was amazing. As a group we look forward to going again.
R. F.
Exceptional in every regard. We went to celebrate my wife's birthday and had an incredible night. Not choosing what we were going to eat was daunting and exciting in equal measure. Yet, there is something to be said for entrusting your experience solely on the restaurant because they absolutely delivered. We tried food that we would never have ordered which opened us up to a whole new way to experience food. Everything is considered. The staff are attentive, knowledgeable and highly skilled. They are eager to share the story of each dish and the origin of the ingredients without ever feeling like they are imposing on your evening. They also were eager to assist in pairing the best wine to the meal and had a deep understanding of everything they offered. Farmers Daughter is a must if you're looking for an evening to remember and food you'll never forget. World class.
M. H. R.
Fabulous menu and choices. Local fresh food and fabulous service. Great promotion of Gippsland.
L. L.
Deli accepts walk in, very good light menu and comfortable stools at the bar area. Slow cooked lamb is so good!
j. t.
A wonderful experience , beautiful food ,wonderful ambiance,
our waiter was so knowledgeable and so attentive.
a special place to celebrate a special occasion.
Thank you . Jon
r. a.
It is a new place in CBD. The place is organised very well. We just had coffee and dessert which were good 4/5 but I expect better presentation and taste for the sweet. The service is very good. The guy who servers us give us an explanation for the place.
The restaurant is three level , the second level for sit menu and the rooftop for cocktails.
R. B.
Good wait staff and quaint little place. Food delicious and all round pleasant experience.
S. W.
I have been seeing this place everywhere on socials and finally decided to try it out and I was not disappointed!
We booked the Deli for lunch and had the chefs selection and the dishes were absolutely delicious. You can not only taste the quality of the cooking but also the quality of the produce.
The staff are fantastic and serve with passion, knowledge and personality to round out the experience.
A well considered and flavorful menu in a buzzing stylish atmosphere that makes you want to return again and again.
We will be back to try the restaurant and rooftop!
D. H.
Beautiful setting, just the right amount of attention to detail from the wait staff, delicious flavours in every item served. Perfect for a romantic date night to celebrate a special occasion.
D. J.
Absolutely perfect. Great service at roof top bar and dinner was superb. Good wine menu. Loved the Hentyfarm Meunier. Food wonderful. Took care of food allergies.
M. W.
Terrific service from friendly staff - and food that is out of this world. Rooftop bar followed by dinner at the chefs table - I’ll be back again.
K. S.
We ate in the Deli and had the Chef’s Selection. Everything was beautiful and coming from Gippsland we were delighted to support our local farmers. Thank you and we cannot wait to come back.
C. -.
Amazing matched wines with the set menu. Love the concept of celebrating Gippsland region. Food was good, nothing challenging or too different, but a solid menu. Highlight was the soda bread w cultured butter and trout.
A. T. G.
Superb food (and lots of it!), lovely outdoor environment, friendly staff showcasing the incredible region of Gippsland, Victoria. A fabulous dining experience for us to emerge back into the world of restaurants! Thank you Farmer's Daughters!
S. J.
Dined in soon after lockdown. The Checkin process was efficient. The set menu was superb. All the food was an absolute treat. The service from the staff, simply outstanding. There was so much food.
Farmers Daughter never disappoints.
F. S.
Thoroughly enjoyed our celebration lunch here on Saturday. We opted for the chef's menu and everything was delicious, with very generous serves. great wine list and reasonably priced. The staff were incredibly friendly and very efficient. Great place to celebrate our birthdays.
p. P.
Lovely venue, lovely food.we arrived 30 min late for a 5pm bookingas we informed at time of booking
We got castigated by Scott the manager, whom told us our booking had been cancelled
After grovelling he put us in the naughty corner near the front door, even though there were spare tables everywhere. We felt humiliated but still had a good time and enjoyed the food
Ordered 2x light foot wines 2016 on special, delivered us a 2018 for the same price, very rude, apart from that 4 star Peter and susan
J. L. d. L.
Wow, what an experience. The food servings weren't big however they weren't too small either.
There were 3 of us and we all loved our food
S. R.
This is a wonderful restaurant. Amazing staff, so generous, welcoming and friendly. The food is so delicious. The atmosphere is lovely, decor to die for, and i cant fault a single thing.

The soda bread, terrine and fish were highlights of an outstanding meal, with great service.
S. L.
Amazing experience, good local food beautifully and simply cooked. The ambience and service is wonderful and the rooftop bar was lovely too
A. H.
Great place for a catch up. Good service; cool vibe .The set menu was a delight - balanced flavours, great tastes. And oh the pavlova at the end - a fresh twist on an old favourite
C. F.
Dining at the Farmer’s Daughters was the perfect experience to celebrate our first post lockdown evening out...
The cocktails were sublime and the delectable dishes we shared were enough to entice us to return over and over...
N. P.
Was a great lunch food is really good! Service was exceptional
R. H.
Fantastic experience with a group of 8, food was delicious and service was really good even though they were flat out. Would highly recommend and look forward to going back to eat double serve of the Soda Bread!
J. L.
Outstanding food, cocktails and service. Well catered for 1 x Vegan Diner also. 5/5.
D. O.
Amazing experience. We were seated in front of the kitchen. The staff does an amazing job and all the dishes were delicious.
T. t.
Had our first visit of what might be many. Great customer service, amazing food and wine and beautiful venue. Highly recommend
A. i. e.
nice experience
the beef was impressive
salad was too small for me
the dessert was tooooo…oo sweet
not bad for a simple lunch
A. S.
*Really* great food (a little over zealous with the salt perhaps, but I find that a lot), lovely interior and fantastic service. The woman doing front of house when I visited on a Saturday for lunch was the consummate professional.
M. G.
Nice cocktails, middle of the road pricing, so-so table service. The elevator sucks though. It's small and cramped, hot, the music is too loud, and it's almost slower than walking.
I. S.
We had lunch here during the week and were so impressed. Perfect cocktails for lunch and the Pork Pie was just amazing. Thank you!
J. Y.
I absolutely loved Farmer's Daughter. As a West Gippslander myself, the menu spoke volumes of our beautiful local produce. Can't wait to go back!
M. W. S.
Delicious food. Amazing flavours. Good vibes.
z. z.
Overall it’s a great experience to dine in. The only thing is both my partner and I felt quite thirsty after taking this lunch, which made us stay hydrated.
B. P.
Decent feed and definitely a very well presented restaurant. The rooftop drinks list is much better than the restaurant, it would make sense to offer the same drinks options at the restaurant and the bar. I didn't want a second drink with the limited options but was happy to order at the bar! The standout dish of the night was the Alpine trout.
F. B.
Farmer’s Daughters did not disappoint. We ate in the Deli and the food was amazing, such fresh beautiful produce. The whole ambiance and aesthetics of the place was fabulous. The staff were incredibly friendly which added to the experience. We finished our night off with a cocktail on the rooftop! Fabulous night out ... we’ll definitely be back! Can’t wait
A. T.
A world class menu and experience in Collins Street’s newest development. Bringing the best produce and wine from all over Gippsland. The service was warm, informed and perfectly timed. A great night out.
F. R.
Amazing experience here. Beautiful dishes and really interesting, thoughtful wine pairings (definitely worth getting). The wonderful staff went above and beyond, both throughout the meal and keeping the rooftop open so we could have a delicious cocktail after we had finished eating! A fabulous evening, would thoroughly recommend!
D. M.
Recently had a wonderful dinner - food was delicious, wine was very good and our waiter Bernie was fabulous- he and the team were attentive and professional and really attended to our needs. I love the ethos of Farmers Daughters which show cases produce from the Gippsland area. The ambiance was great - which is a reflection of the manager and his team.
J. C.
Lovely dining experience, we had a great time over there during the Easter.
S. W.
Only went to rooftop bar, really lovely set up. Cocktails were great, highly recommend the Purple Rain if you like gin cocktails with a tang. The staff were absolutely awesome, brought out blankets for us and checked in regularly, they were also super friendly and just overall wonderful. The only negative was the wait time for drinks - but could see the bartender was working non stop, think they just need to add another person to help out.
T. R.
The food is just made perfectly. They have the most yummiest homemade bread serves with trouts in light creamy sauce and caviar.. amazing amazing!
C. H.
Brilliant new year dinner with great food, cocktails and awesome staff. Thanks!! We will be back.
J. W.
Always love the food and exceptional service that occurs at the Farmer's Daughters.
The fish was divine
J. &. G. B.
On New Years Eve we were given copious quantities of alcohol in the package we paid for. The food was excellent for the first two dishes of oysters and terrine. The service was efficient and friendly.
After that, the standard of food was decidedly mediocre with overcooked fish and chips and dried out pastries of mini pies. When the New Year approached, a waitress counted down from 10 to 1, no sign of any other celebration, music or creative entertainment. A very disappointing end to the night. Anticlimactic!!
When emailed of our experience the reply stated that issues due to staff shortages and that the CBD had been picked clean of party poppers etc.
What a load of Bull S***.
Not impressed by their response and won't be going back.
S. P.
Wonderful customer service by phone and in the establishment. As a first timer I ate in the Deli and enjoyed the whole experience from start to finish. Wonderful cuisine in a welcoming environment. I’m looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommended. A little tip- Don’t skip the bread and butter!
K. E.
Loved it! We dined at the deli for Sunday lunch with the Chefs Selection and we were taken on a delicious journey for our senses. The courses were expertly prepared and the staff and service was wonderful! A special mention to Julia and her team for the wonderful service from the moment we walked in. The perfect addition to Collins Precinct.
W. B.
Excellent service, atmosphere and amazing food. Couldn’t fault.
H. S.
Amazing food and service.
Especially Callum - made it a fantastic night!
M. J.
Our group of 4 thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Farmers Daughters, the service was excellent and the food was to die for.
All of our dishes were excellent with a special mention for the terrine and black garlic chutney. Well done, we look forward to our next visit!
A. J.
We had the most amazing 6 course degustation menu for New Years Eve. The food really encapsulated the Gippsland produce and smoky flavours. The service was impeccable and thank you to Callum for making our night the best! Your attention to detail and knowledge behind the food was exceptional. Thank you and we will be back!!
D. D. R.
Farmer's Daughters have created an exquisite dining experience. The seasonal dishes are sumptuous, generously portioned and beautifully paired with a fabulous selection of wines. The decor in the restaurant is calming and luxurious, staff are very attentive, and you really do feel like you're tasting the best flavours of country Gippsland while dining in the heart of the city.
D. W.
The decor, ambience and service was pretty good. The place was packed, even on a weekday night, so I had high expectations. The food was decent, but personally I thought that it could have been better if only there was more attention to detail. I would have preferred if the soda bread was warmed up before it was served. The beef cheek was quite tender (and also a little bit briny), but the accompanying mushrooms were rather too acidic (tasted like they soaked up too much balsamic vinegar). The crumbed fish was cooked nicely too (with a really crispy crust), but the spring onion hollandaise sauce seems to be slightly overcooked and there were little lumps, the spring onion flavour also seems to be a little lacking in there as well. For the apple and date pudding, and the caramel sauce on it, both could have been a bit warmer, and the taste of apple nor date was not very prominent. Last but not least, the beetroot latte was rather pale in colour (pinkish instead of purplish red) and the taste of beetroot was rather overpowered by the taste of milk (and maybe milk powder). Yeah so overall, the food was actually not bad (we finished it all), but just thinking of how it could have been better made it slightly disappointing.
A. D.
Wonderful experience, the four course tasting menu with matched wines was superb - the trout and soda bread was divine, the heirloom tomatoes was a party in my mouth, followed by perfectly cooked lamb and veg, finishing with a modern take on a bushfire marshmallow with berries and chocolate. Great value and a really lovely ode to Gippsland. The three levels of the space all have distinct personalities; the smoky grille of the second and charm of the rooftop are particularly engaging. We are already looking forward to the Autumn menu!
v. m.
Had a chef selection lunch at the Deli. Food was superb and unexpectedly great value for money. Service was the top notch.
Overall very enjoyable experience. Thank you guys
Highly recommended (don't forget to book to avoid missing out)
A. H.
Great evening guided by the team through a wonderful experience, the wines were on point and the wafting Smokey fireplace was a really nice touch, evoking memories by the campfire. Will be back again for another seasonal menu.
E. N.
Loved the whole experience, great vibe, friendly staff and delicious food. I'm not a big fan of broccoli and cabbage but they made it absolutely great. Hands down the best house baked bread I've ever had. It was so good that I actually asked them and took some home :D
D. N.
This was our first visit to Farmers Daughters, and it was the night before Melbourne’s 6th lockdown. They called to ask us to come in earlier so we’d have dinner and make it out by lockout at 8pm. The whole experience could not have been better. We were running late through crushing traffic (pandemic panic) and they still held our table. The food was wonderful and they were more than happy to adapt the set menu to cater for our dietary requirements (pescaterian). The food was spectacular but somehow the service for us is what was the absolute standout. The staff were smiling and friendly and so very helpful. They let people know that they had a fridge full of their beautiful homemade soda bread if anyone wanted to buy it. Well, how could we say no? We bought two and several other tables did likewise. My beloved also wanted to take home some of their veg pies (they were incredible) and they said yes! We bought 4! This was a very special dinner on a night that could have gone horribly due to the lockdown but the staff really pulled it together and did a stellar job of looking after everyone and keeping us all happy. We’ll be back after lockdown for sure. Thank you to Stephanie and her colleagues for a wonderful evening.

Incredible food and great staff with loads of personality. Love the story of the Gippsland produce throughout the menu. Authentic, thoughtful and delightful. Martini is pretty excellent, too
E. R.
Fabulous space and fit-out, felt special even in the deli. Our server Alice was charming and well- informed. Enjoyed all the dishes, the whiting, beef cheek and honey cream were stand outs. Interesting wine list, enjoyed the bubbles, will be back to try upstairs.
R. T.
An absolute wonderful dinning experience. Although there was an issue with our reservation, the staff were very helpful, apologised and accommodated us generously until they organised a spot, which took only 15mins.
The food was delicious, very tasty but not complicated. The service friendly and professional with the staff having great knowledge of their food and wine.
If you like a proper experience, this is a must!

We came here a couple of weeks ago and had a great experience. Considering the focus on local produce that we're seeing today, Farmer's Daughters do a great job of supporting and communicating just that.
We chose a variety of things from the deli menu, all of which were delicious. My favourite though was the Eaglehawk Creek pork & leek pie. If you're after a winter warmer full of every kind of feeling you could want on a cold winter evening, select this.
The wine, cocktail and mocktail lists were full of great options as well, so be open to suggestions as the staff know what they're talking about and make ordering a total breeze.
Great to see such a strong focus on Victorian produce. It's kind of a 'pinch yourself' moment when you see such an array of exceptional produce on offer. It makes you think 'has this really come from our own front door?'.
We'll be back for sure.
L. L.
Great lunch experience. Staff were so friendly and professional. The food were delicious. Would definitely be back again.
A. G.
Some of the best customer service we have experienced. Attentive waiters and waitresses, delicious food and amazing venue. We were in the restaurant for the reopening after lockdown.
N. A.
It was our 3rd visit and the consistency of fresh & seasonal food offerings is Melbourne on a plate, love the concept of Gippsland produce. It’s produce at is finest.
Service was professional & friendly.
The team was very accommodating to our needs, can not wait to go back.
K. O.
Delicious. Varied. Warm and cozy. Could not fault a thing. Had the set lunch menu for two included beautiful steak and fish, chips with all sorts of amazing sauces and oils. Salad, fish terrine and broccolini and egg entree. Excellent staff. Great value. Great end of lockdown lunch thanks :)
C. B.
3 levels of food! We were early for our dinner booking, and headed to the rooftop for a pre dinner drink. Beautiful fit out, looking over Exhibition st. Had dinner in the deli. Lovely food. Service was excellent. Each level is accessible. Looking forward to heading back for the set menu.
M. W.
A beautiful setting, the staff were friendly and attentive. The food was out of this world, so fresh and really showcased the Gippsland region.
R. W.
Lovely food, great vibes and friendly helpful staff. Thank you
S. B.
Brilliant food in a vibrant setting with a good helping of friendly and efficient staff that made my wife's birthday just that bit more special.
N. M.
We went there for lunch ($75 pp). Customer service, meals and atmosphere. All elements were great. Love to try dinner next time.

I am writing to thank you for the service the crew of The Farmers Daughters gave when my family and I visited.
As a group some could consider us to be country cousins and as such the dining experience given was somewhat out of our comfit zone however the friendly attitude the crew of The Farmers Daughters have added to what was a memorable day of stage show, great food and family fun.
An excellent variety of food was presented with the Beef Cheeks being the star for us, the Potato and Leek Pie and vege’s also right up there, but overall we enjoyed the entire selection.
We will be recommending The Farmers Daughters when the occasion arises and on a side note we observed a number of out side passersby look into the restaurant stop and step back before presumably noting the name for future reference.
Once again, big thanks to you and your staff for making our day into the city both distinctive and memorable.
Sincerely Yours,
Brian Edwards
P. H.
Only saw the name when passing and thought we'd dop in. Great friendly team and appetizers where enough for us. Really good food
T. W.
Wound amazing, service great staff very friendly and informative
D. H.
With partner, we booked and visited. On arrival requested $30 lunch deal on City of Melbourne website (Tasting platter, pastry and drink). Told by waitress it’s only available for take away. A bit deceptive! (We didn’t leave a tip....)
Revision 28 April. Advised by owner that the promotion company had failed to correctly publish the correct info, that it is for takeaway only. Apology accepted. Four stars because the food was good, but a bit of unnecessary mucking around....
M. V.
Amazing experience in the bistro and their set menu. Great value, great food. Will be back soon.
P. A.
Farmer's Daughters, in my humble opinion, is quintessential Australia cuisine at its finest. I know that the restaurant aims to put a spolgiht on great Victorian produce and I really think they've hit the mark. The service was fabulous, the staff friendly and accomodating. The food was incredible and the wine list was really unique. I love that they carefully choose their produce and wine to highlight the region and it really spotlighted some botique places that I never knew existed. I highly recommend this place.
A. L.
Food is deliciously good😍 and the famous bread yummmm!!!
m. r.
From the moment we arrived we were treated to exceptional service,,professional, personal and friendly but not in your face. We were guided to our rooftop table forvan hour of pre dinner cocktails, then it was time to head down one floor to dinner. We had the 5 course degustation which we love, all decisions made for us, but the kitchen is able to alter to accommodate allergies if required. Not us, first course ceviche of sea bass, avocado and greens, fresh and zingy to get the tasty buds wanting more. Our waiter waa very considerate in his suggestion of a local pinot noir to go with the trout, and we all enjoyed it, not knowing the maker, lots of flavour. Next course, OMG soda bread and cultured butter both to die for, perfect to go with our poached rainbow trout with a light creamy dill sauce with trout roe, mopped up with soda bread! Then came the dish of the night for us, Smoked and seared pork scotch fillet with a light broth, that we all.wished we had a bit more soda bread to soak it up, so naughtily did the next best thing, and drank it! It was way too tasty to go back to the kitchen to be waahed away! We then got some more advice for a wine to go with the upcoming venison and again selected on advice a cabernet merlot, beautiful match to the seared venison, beetroot and mushroom dish.
Finale of a chocolate delice on a macaroon. Gorgeous finish and not too sweet.
We loved our night, our friends loved the night and vow ro only eat soda bread and cultured butter from now on! Great value, we look forward to going back!
D. W.
Everything from the space, the people, the food and the service were extraordinary. Thank you to the team - great way to celebrate our anniversary.
C. B.
impressive wait staff, like watching a ballet
D. A.
The $75 deli banquet is so delicious and filling. Highly recommend. Everything is fresh and at such high quality.
D. B.
Farmers Daughters was a treat. Julia and Amanda and Alex settled us at a perfect table and waited on us with care, smiles, and expert advice. In the midst of a busy lunch hour the kitchen staff and wait staff were totally focused on presenting their best. The food was top class from the king dory to the pork and leek pie in floaty, crispy pastry. Farmers Daughters glorifies Gippsland produce. Farmers should be content that their beautiful wine and food is presented to perfection.
K. C.
Absolutely fabulous! Farm to table food, yummy sauces and excellent service. Highly recommended.
A. B.
Incredible use of local produce! Every aspect of the dining experience was on point. I recommend starting in the roof top bar to try the local inspired cocktails, then the restaurant to continue experiencing what fine food Victoria has to offer! 🌾
H. B.
Wonderful lunchtime experience tasting the delightful produce from Gippsland. Cannot wait to come back.
V. L.
Great food, great service, can't ask for much more...very well worth it!
D. A.
Best experience in a long time!! Great atmosphere, fantastic staff and brilliant, well thought out food. I couldn’t tell you which was my favourite cos I liked them all. I’m excited to go back and try next seasons meals
K. M.
Farmer’s Daughter has a fabulous combination of stylish decor, amazing food and personable but professional service. The sommelier provided one of the most interesting and informative wine pairings I have very had. I highly recommend this restaurant!
A. J.
This has become one of my go to restaurants in the CBD. The service and food is always excellent. Highly recommend.
M. H.
Lovely food even for a vegetarian like me though was very busy and quite noisy
J. D. C.
When served, the service was good. But despite there being a lot more staff than customers at the time of my lunch, the staff were not attentive. The staff spent more time multi tasking, talking amongst themselves. I sat at the bar so I saw my meals prepared. The actual preparation was quick. But I probably waited 25 minutes between entree and mains. It's not a cheap meal so I expected more.
A. G.
Amazing food and a wonderful experience to celebrate a special occasion.
T. E.
Great food, service and value. Menu constantly changing to provide the best produce
J. S.
Kudos to Farmer's Daughters for creating an actual experience. No menu, just a discussion and a decision on how many courses. We went 'long' with 6 delicious courses that included my plant-based preferences. Great, knowledgeable service, good wine list and nice ambience. Go for a special occasion.
T. T.
Nice environment and amazing food (and wine). Staff also great, friendly and knowledgeable.
M. W.
Stunning food and service! Will be back
E. G.
Good quality food at the deli, but the lack of sides to accompany the meal was rather disappointing for the price paid.
C. R.
We had a wonderful experience, it was our first time at Farmers Daughter and it will not be our last. Our waitress Yolandi only made the experience more enjoyable. Can't wait to come back.
R. H.
I was very impressed with the service and with the food and appealing dishes. All the dishes were visually beautiful in their presentation.
Just a small negative and that’s the mains.
I’d like to see some more variety perhaps with the fish dish, grilled is more appealing and a couple more mains would help with choices for diners.
The decor was lovely and it looked like a diner in USA of the 1950s. In particular the lights over the bar area. Very chic!!
Generally a great restaurant and I hope to visit soon.

Great friendly staff and a ripper mix of cocktails. We will be back. Thanks.
A.
Outstanding service from all staff made this a very special experience. We were made to feel very welcome, nothing was too much trouble. Enjoyed interacting with chefs, as we were seated at the chefs table. A wonderful experience
C. A.
Gorgeous venue in a supercool hood. Food was delicious and service impeccable. Only downside was the sound levels a tad high. Will definitely go back. Oh - and don’t miss the soda bread. Oh heck - do as I did ; go for two servings.
A. R.
We dined at the restaurant and had the 5 course set menu. Food was absolutely incredible. We found the space extremely Smokey, by the end our eyes were very sore and our clothes stunk of smoke. This was the only disappointing factor. If they can get this right, there is no better place in Melbourne.
M. B.
Incredible food. Fresh and super tasty. Had their steak on beans in brown butter sauce. Super tender and perfectly made. Wonderful flavourful wine with that. Exceptional service and love their concept. Really enjoyed the seats for walk-ins at the kitchen on the ground floor and watching the chefs doing their thing. Definitely go there again.
C. C.
Gorgeous food& service- bread to die for
R. T.
Modern, fairly new.
Great concept. Open terrace rooftop.
Wonderful deli with supberp fresh veggies etc.
Reisling particularly yummy.
Then there is a more classic dining space.
We sat at the bar in the Deli. GREAT.
T. T.
This fine dining place definitely meets the expectation of an excellent service, atmosphere and food!
O. I.
Fantastic
We tried the restaurant part. 7 course menu. Absolutely delicious, even the ones with basic simple ingredients are made perfectly. Highly recommend it. And of course, very friendly and welcoming staff.
A. D.
Loved the decor, the food was great; fresh, seasonal and the service was top notch. Will be back!
M. E.
Average food, expensive. The best thing about the 6 course meal was the bread.
E. B.
We had such a great meal and the staff were knowledgeable and playful. Will certainly return.
B. M.
Great atmosphere... feels like you just stepped into the country with the open campfire smell. Unique menu that was absolutely delicious and excellent knowlegable wait staff. Thanks for a great experience.
G. S.
This was our second visit and it was just as awesome as the first experience with chef David at the helm for both. Loved the truffle lunch and I’d go back even just for the soda bread. It’s our now fav restaurant
L. M.
Started in the rooftop bar sipping a spicy margarita and wandered downstairs to the deli for a gourmet trip through Gippsland. Fresh produce, memorable food and sophisticated decor. The place was jumping with people so it was wrapt in that Melbourne vibe we all love.
M. V.
If anything inspires me to revisit Gippsland it is a lunch at Farmer’s Daughters ground floor deli which, when we sat down recently, was abuzz with Melburnians glad to be off the leash that was COVID. They were doing what comes naturally-eating and drinking on an Indian summer’s day before the cool winds of winter signalled a change.
So summer vegetables, marinaded and accompanied by their green olive mayonnaise, were the agreed starter for our foursome. As this backyard vege grower knows, fresh and organic is best, whether it is those from Koo Wee Rup’s Cafresco Organics which graced the plate, or a year-round favourite like sweet and sour beetroot with fresh ricotta, which was also our choice. There was no temptation in the FD kitchen to overwork simple fresh produce.
We gestured silent applause-don’t speak with your mouth full- at the house made venison, pork and chicken terrine with black garlic chutney. It delighted for texture, taste and fresh colour, as did another dish-house cured Gippsland ox tongue and pigs cheek- that in the hands of a lesser chef might have looked and tasted industrial. It was anything but.
And, the only thing wrong with the trout, mountain pepper cream and salted cucumber is that COVID had kept me from my favourite fishing spots in Tasmania. But all is forgiven for the quality of the Baw Baw alpine trout.
Under the somewhat prosaically named “Next” label (no nonsense here), the dishes which followed were anything but prosaic. The wood smoked roasted beef cheek with Swiss brown mushrooms vinaigrette and mashed swede was very “melt in the mouth” and testimony to a chef who is obviously not afraid to give a humble root crop a significant role in a dish.
By this stage, excellent cocktails completed, a wine from Gippsland proved that yet another member of the famous Farr family from Bannockburn- Phillipa Farr- could do wonderful things with a pinot grape. It would accompany the balance of our “Next” dishes.
Leading out was a combination of fish, clam and leek, echoing a bygone era, which was enfolded in a lattice of puff pastry to create a wonderful pie. When one of our number called for potato fries and dill aioli –to satisfy the inner child-she was delighted with the hand cut fries, some of which showed their skins.
Duty called her back to the workplace but we who remained felt obliged to press on so we could report back that the cuvee chocolate parfait was beyond reproach and the cheese a splendid accompaniment for the fig liqueur.
FD’s sommelier was only called to our aid to guide us through the nuanced differences between locally made single malts and a long overdue addition to the ranks of domestic brandy producers. Spirit drinkers are being spoiled for choice.
Farmer’s Daughters proves that if a kitchen starts with great produce that is not overworked then it will be as exciting to the taste buds as it is appealing on the plate. Combine this with smiling wait staff who understand and deliver service and you’ve a pleasure-to-follow recipe for a great lunch.
K. P.
Fan-bloody-tastic. We just had drinks and snacks but could not have asked for more. Great venue, fabulous cocktails and first class service - looking at you baby love 😉
Run right out and do yourself a favour.
J. B.
Shared a wonderful meal in downstairs restaurant. Staff gave wonderful service and knew their food.
Even though sitting was only 1.5 hrs ,they ensured you had a wonderful experience.
Food was delicious. 👏👏
B. D.
The best of East Gippsland produce served with love and cooked with respect
S. W.
The vegetarian degustation dinner was so delicious! The meal and the wines exceeded my expectations, the wait staff were friendly, which made for a relaxed, fun evening.
k. j.
Excellent food. Service was fantastic, food was unique and at a very high standard. Head chef was also so nice. Really cant wait to go back again!
M. M.
I’ve been meaning to try this joint for a while now, but the experience was a bit disappointing. The vibe was good, the service was great, the soda bread was pretty interesting, but the actual food was a really big disappointment! Inconsistent and undercooked.
R. W.
Gorgeous atmosphere and the 5 course set menu was cooked to perfection. 5 stars
P. E.
A wonderful experience with beautiful food, knowledgeable staff and wonderful wine. The space is stunning, not too loud and has a fantastic ambience. Will be back.
J. S.
Guilia and the team at Farmer’s Daughter thoughtfully ensured our party of 7 had a round table in a quiet corner to celebrate 50th birthdays missed during lockdown. We loved the simple elegance of the magnificent Gippsland menu and the expert service in such a warm and relaxed setting. Such thanks.
L. T.
Lunch today (Sat) in the Deli.
Delicious food, good service and great fit out/vibe! Really enjoyed it.
We had and would recommend the following:
Drinks: Farmer's Collins, Cheeky Lemonade and Patemoster 'Rosemary' Pinot Noir/Shiraz
Entree: Farm style soda bread, St. David's Dairy cultured butter, Cured Baw Baw Alpine trout, mountain pepper cream, salted cucumber
Mains: Eaglehawk Creek Pork and leek pie***, roasted onion, Lakes Entrance crumbed fish***, summer herbs, spring onion hollandaise (the fish and the pie were the stand outs).
Dessert: Cuvée chocolate parfait, Crème fraîche.
Thank you. We wish you guys every success! Lisa and Shayne.
E. G.
Stunning !! Every mouthful left me wanting more, the combinations of produce exploding my tastebuds. Staff were delightful and the chef should get an Award (if he hasn't already) ! I will be back.
J. D.
Delicious food. Lovely staff and great service. Looking forward to returning.
d.
Had the loveliest time with the best crew at Farmer’s Daughter. Those ladies moved mountains to make sure my friends and I had great food, lovely company and fun times. Will be back!
C. R.
A great new space in Melbourne with outstanding food from local Gippsland produce, wine and service. Only stopped by for pre-show bite but will definitely be back to enjoy the full experience. Highly recommended!
R. S.
What a treat. This is a lovely place to catch up for a quick meal after work(we went to the downstairs section). Food was delicious and interesting. 10 out of 10 for service although a little "covid" rushed
thank you
J. W.
Ate at the Deli. Food pricey and small serving size but reasonably tasty. Soda bread a must try. Better options (value and taste wise) available outside of the cbd but this is not a bad option for catching up with friends in the cbd.
R. T.
Team are incredible. Engaging, knowledgeable, and accomodating.
J. d.
What a fabulous lunch. Exquisite food with delicate balance of flavour showcasing the best that Victoria has to offer including Tambo Valley honey and Baw Baw Alpine Trout. Wood smoked beef cheek the highlight!
S.
Great service, great meal. Very enjoyable.
D. B.
The soda bread, charcuterie, trout, venison and the black pudding dishes were particular standouts in an overall enjoyable meal. With the black pudding taking the crown of best dish for me.
J. W.
Fabulous meal at this modern australian restaurant. Everything was of highest quality
P. T.
The restaurant has a meticulously thoughtful and delicious seasonal menu sourced from local producers. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I'll be back!

S. D.
Well Farmers Daughters, your Dad should be proud!
The decor is gorgeous. I admit my favourite colour is green.
The service is attentive and friendly.
We had the $110 set menu and some how got the soda bread too. Oh the soda bread... absolutely to die for.
The fish dishes were a delight and loving the use of lemon myrtle and lemon verbena but we gobbled up the bread, I wish we had left some for the fish...oops.
The wine matching was fun with some new and interesting flavours that I have not experienced.
The ox tongue and strip loin melt in your mouth goodness.
Go and enjoy. I’ll be back.
S. W.
Great food and wine from Gippsland area. The service staff are very friendly and the price is reasonable. The food was awesome.
H. M.
Food and staff were lovely but the smoke from the kitchen made it quite uncomfortable. My eyes were actually stinging from it. You may need to look at your ventilation

A lovely experience! Gorgeous surrounds, fabulous food and great service. Definitely will be back.
S. H.
We had high expectations for Farmer's Daughters since our first experience at the Starward distillery. They didn't disappoint. We ate on the ground floor which is called the 'deli' section. This section provides an a la carte restaurant option. The portion sizes were perfect and sharing of plates is the best way to experience the variety of meats and flavours. The first floor has set-menus of smoked goods which smelled amazing when I had a walk around and the top floor is walk-up rooftop bar. The service was excellent and the staff were enthusiastic and friendly. We plan on making another trip for the set menu ASAP.
N. W.
