Really appreciate the support and cooperation by this restaurant and catering business. Extremely tasty and good quality food and also fantastic customer service. Highly recommended. Due to Covid we had to arrange for take away family meal packs, in a decently presented packaging. We approached the Flying Chef restaurant owners and asked if they can customize their menu and also the packaging, to suit our needs. The owners were so flexible, and accommodating. They not only agreed to help with our request, but they also got actively involved and helped looked for solutions to source the suitable packaging. They prepared the 60 family packs, delivering them exactly as discussed. And on time. Highly recommend them not only for the tasty and quality food, but also their flexibility and great customer service. Thank you very much!!

Egg fried rice with hot buttered cuttlefish is more than a reasonably big portion you get for the value you pay. I got loads of cuttlefish to eat with egg fried rice and the steamed vegetables bring the taste to an entirely new level. I enjoyed every bit of this mouthwatering dish and it was like 2 meals for the day. Overall, I was extremely happy with the presentation, value, temperature, and taste. I have got nothing more to say. I would enjoy this meal again sometime.

The quality of food at Flying Chef is excellent. It was a pleasure to work with Natasha to customise the menu to suit our requirements and they were able to provide many gluten free options. Especially of note is the hot butter garlic cuttlefish and chilli crab.

The number #1 Sri Lankan restaurant in Southeast Melbourne is the best Sri Lankan style Fried rice and other dishes served here. It is family-owned. The chef, a former leading chef in one of the best hotels in Sri Lanka, and his wife are friendly with the guests and always offer the best quality! I highly recommend this restaurant.

Flying Chef is one of the great Sri Lankan restaurants in Melbourne with rising popularity, and I have been a regular customer who visits the restaurant several days a week since its inception. Chef Dinesh has never failed to amaze me with different varieties of food, especially with traditional cuisine. With Shirmila's gesture of warm welcome, it has always been a fantastic experience for me to try every meal in the menu. I am pretty sure that I have tried out more than 90% of their meals. Nasi goreng and sea food rice are my favourite. My colleagues, who are native Australians, Thai and Burmese, are also huge fans of Flying Chef Food. There is no doubt in that a new customer becoming a loyal customer, like what happened to me. If you are not convinced enough, try one of their meals and you will feel the difference. PS: Flying Chef, please keep up the good work and you are doing it right.

The aromas that filled this Cafe where amazing 🙂 The beautiful lady who served me was so lovely and welcoming 😊 The food was delicious, it was honestly the nicest food, so tender. The customer care is excellent - but have to comment on the so called Lamprais. The chef needs to check on the menu first. Lamprais is a complex Sri Lankan dish usually consisting of stock-cooked short-grained rice, three meat curry (beef, pork, and lamb), wambatu moju (eggplant pickle), seeni sambol (onion relish), blanchan (shrimp paste), frikadeller meatballs, eggplant and ash plantain curry, while the common addition also includes fried boiled eggs. The golden rule is do not substitute any of the above ingredients with your imagination. But since your shop is so welcoming I am surely planning another visit to taste your other dishes.

Flying Chef Caterers went out of their way to cater for a memorial we organised. Because of COVID we organised some takeaways for the families that attended. Shirmila not only made the family packs as agreed, and she went the extra mile by colour coding the packaging as per the pack sizes and also marked individual items in each package. Food was excellently presented and extremely tasty. Best customer service I’ve experienced in a while and would not hesitate to recommend Flying Chef Caterers.

In any kind of restaurant, there are three points that you need to hit in order to know that you have a gem: 1) is the product good? 2) is the product set at a good price bracket? and 3) does the place provide good customer service? Okay where do i start - The most friendliest owners and customer service . - The food is the best we have had in a very long time. We travel a fair bit overseas and some of the dishes are unbelievable in taste especially the lemon sauce fish. I would highly recommend to eat here. Nothing to fault about.

We had these guys cater for us and they were fantastic. We ordered a few meat and a few vegetarian curries with rice and papadams for a bit gathering. Very reasonable price and delicious food. We requested no chilli in some of the curries which they were happy to do, they seemed very flexible. They delivered it all in a Baine Marie. Overall very happy with the service

One of the best places in melbourne for sri lankan food. Tried Pork koththu , chicken koththu and their buffet. Delicious sri lankan food. Loved every bite. 100% recommend to anyone who like to try authentic sri lankan food. Noticed people can sit down for the buffet as usual or take away food from the buffet as well. When taking away the buffet i saw they provide a big container to fill up with mains like rice , and couple of other containers to pack curries. This is something i have not seen anywhere else yet. Home cooked meals at its finest with a Sri Lankan twist. I stop by here on my lunch break a few days a week, I honestly can't get enough. You get a lot of choices for 10 bucks. Chicken on the bone or pork belly are my favourite meats, with chickpeas and green beans or beetroot being my healthy add ons which taste surprisingly good for something healthy.
