Amazing! We went here for dinner tonight and the food was beautiful and the service fantastic. We sat outside overlooking the gardens which were lovely. Thank you for a great night, we will be back.
P. M.
Really enjoyed this place. We came here just before 12pm on a Friday and already a few tables were occupied. The wait staff are really friendly and cheerful.
The decor is very "British in the 50's" and you feel like you're walking into someone's house. I like that no massive renovation was done, the feel of the old house is still there with tables placed in different parts of the house.
My friend and I shared the starter (panko brie $15) and slow cook lamb shank ($36) which was a main special. Both were real comfort food, I was satisfied without feeling overly full.
For dessert we shared the Devonshire tea which was two good size scones with a coffee/tea ($16). I also ordered the turmeric spice latte ($5), it was like a sweet cinnamon latte, I really enjoyed it. Wish it came in a bigger size, would've preferred drinking it from a bowl like mug.
The scones were soft and moist, they were a bit crumbly which I didn’t mind, found it easier to eat with my tea spoon. Much better scones than Ripe (dry) and Miss Marple (bland).
The outside seating area looks really cosy too so I plan to return when the weather is warmer so I can dine outside and then walk around the gardens.

Perfect afternoon at King Henry's to celebrate my 39th B'day. We got the $55 high tea and were very impressed by the quantity and quality of the food. The service was very attentive and the outdoor deck area overlooking the ferns and trees was divine. Each course of the high tea was served on a high tea stand with dainty crockery covered in a lovely floral design. Plenty of tea for two in the massive teapot with proper English Breakfast tea leaves. The scones are a real standout and the best I've had in Olinda and Sassafras... and I have had them in MANY places. These scones are crispy on the outside and fluffy and moist inside. Extra jam and cream is provided free of charge and there is lemon curd for those who like it. Scones are not doughy and are definitely not microwaved like many others in the area. Highly recommend coming here with others for a delightful high tea or for an afternoon tea of the nicest scones in the area! Will be back again and might even try dinner on a Friday or Saturday night.

King Henry's is a beautiful themed dining experience with old english feels. The space is large and split into several different rooms and beautiful outside dining options too overlooking the gardens and forest. Staff are friendly and attentive and the food menu is traditionally english fair with some more Australian spin too. Good breakfast options with a great balance of flavours and portions sizes. Coffee is on point too and they also cater for gluten free and other food varieties. A nice surprise and worth a visit
A. H.
Beautiful English style pub with gorgeous gardens, perfect weekend lunch spot. Not too many veg options but a nice pumpkin salad main and crumbed brie entrée.

We came here to celebrate our anniversary and really enjoyed it. A beautiful place that is a real gem of a restaurant.
We struugled to decide on our dishes from the menu and specialsonly because we wanted them all. Each course was well presented, perfectly seasoned and as my photos show, a decent sized portion.
Located in the Dandenongs rainforest, with ample parking, the tall trees surrunding and a lovely garden to meander around, this is well worth another trip.

One of the best restaurant in Dandenong mountain area, I would like to recommend to all, warm welcomed, beautiful house & Garden, food is so delicious, it's like came to England👍🌹👌

This restaurant would have got a 5/5 but one thing let it down and it was pretty important! When booking the table I explained that it was my husbands birthday and could they just put a candle in his dessert, or anything like that. They assured me that this would be no problem. I rang again on Thurs just to confirm that they had my booking and they said yes everything good and read out 'husbands birthday and candle' I was pleased that they had confirmed that. We came in today and had a wonderful lunch and we loved the feeling of the building. Wonderful British food on the menu but we were a bit bemused by the French background music but we had a great time. My excitement grew as we neared our dessert. It came and went with nothing. I was so disappointed by this. All it needed was a 50c candle stuck in. How difficult could this be? As I say, everything else was perfect but this simple thing really let us down. I wouldn't recommend it for a special occasion.........

So beautiful!!! Food delicious, staff amazing and such a beautiful place

Get lost in the gardens as you explore the meandering pathway, relax on the deck or throughout the grounds on seating hidden away in private coves. Loose yourself in the atmosphere of an early 1900’s building as light music plays and dinning is enjoyed with friends and family.
Switch off and kick back at your own pace with the very professional friendly staff at King Henry’s.
Very enjoyable, great food and beautiful surrounds, thank you.
J. L.
Went for breakfast, was a lovely experience. Staff were fantastic, very helpful and genuinely friendly. Food was delicious, and the chai lattes were delicious and hot.
Parking is out the back and there are plenty of rooms to eat in. You can sit outside under a covered deck if you prefer. There is also a small garden you can walk around.
Maybe a little difficult to navigate a pram or wheelchair but is doable.
P. O.
Thoroughly recommend King Henry’s for great British style food and the best scones in the Hills. The restaurant is surrounded by bush land and the outdoor eating area allows you to enjoy the fresh air and native bird life. Inside area is beautifully furnished with old English decor with lots of rooms to give you a more private feel. Friendly staff and good drinks menu with a couple of English ales and a cider on tap.
B. G.
Very stylish venue with delicious dishes. Everything was just perfect.
L. A.
A beautiful meal in a gorgeous setting, excellent service, special attention paid to my Mum for her birthday (thank you Karen!) Every dish was exquisite, we sat on the deck for hours savouring the meals and the atmosphere. We will definitely be back.
E. B.
I say inside and the temperature was agreeable (hot day). Panko crusted Brie was cool, not hot as I expected. Mains were generous portions and very tasty. Beef cheeks outstanding; Cow au Vin excellent. Chocolate gateau was superb. Service friendly and helpful. Only downside was that the red wine was warm (they explained the wine fridge was being installed.) Highly recommend; fully intend to visit again.
S. W.
Cosy and charming restaurant experience rarely found elsewhere. Gorgeous wood fire and delightful service. Meals very generous (had the beef special) and loved the scotch egg stater. Left feeling very full (let me take my dessert home).
c. c.
A beautiful tudor style restaurant. Great ambience with two different rooms to choose from. English fare food, that is delicious with many choices. Try the scones that come from the oven not from a microwave. Staff provide friendly, relaxed but efficient service
E. S. S.
Fabulous venue and setting, great tea and coffee, excellent service.
A. E.
If you're wanting a relaxed evening, tasty food with a super friendly service surrounded by the beautiful forest and wildlife, this is it. An added bonus is the menu and it's English traditional dishes that have you reminiscing of pub lunches in the English countryside.
We didn't have room for dessert but they all looked amazing!
A. G.
Great ambience, wide spread of the menu. Prompt service. Highly recommended!
R. B.
A little bit of old blighty in the Victorian countryside 👌
Delicious food and staff were both friendly and attentive.
I particularly like the braised beef. Cooked to perfection!
Thank very much to the team.
E.
Went to King Henry’s for a Mother’s Day high tea. Had high expectations after reading all the positive reviews about the place. The service was average with some staff members a little confused and unorganised. The food that was served was barely warm and the sandwiches didn’t seem to be that fresh. . Apart from the fresh scones that were served with other cakes, a very disappointing experience, especially for the price that was charged!
C. B.
Great meal, amazing decor, stunning views and a nature walk after your meal to walk it off!
M. R.
Loved the concept, set up and the food. Situated within very peaceful surroundings. Very friendly and polite staff. The traditional menu is quite interesting..Good place to come with kids as well or to catch up with the friends.. Breakfast is served untill 11.30am.Parking is available at the rear. You can also wonder around the garden and the rainforest after your meal.
J. M.
Was here for breakfast a couple of weeks ago. The weather was amazing and sitting outside was perfect. We had eggs on toast with bacon and the baked eggs. The servings are huge and everything’s served hot and fresh. Loved it and will definitely be back.
b. b.
I wanted to take my wife somewhere a little bit different
She'd never had Devonshire tea before so I thought that this would be a great place to go
The atmosphere was great and the staff friendly
Lot's of beautiful landscape for a photo shoot if that's what you are interested in
A. D.
Came at the end of lunch service so was starting to get quiet. Crowd was older however the menu had variety and was tasty with good size portions.
They also offered a wide selection of gins.
A. M.
King Henry's is a venue that is set in the style of a giant, warm, cozy home with many nooks and crannies to suit large groups and intimate diners that is a rare find these days. The food is delicious comfortable English style, I had the beef special which was generously portioned and a delicious scotch egg.
J. H.
Food excellent staff & service lovely, especially as it was a 30° day..
C. K.
Fantastic experience eating here. Food was first class and the service was exceptional. Location is stunning as we sat outside on a balmy night and enjoyed dining here. Highly recommended.
S. M.
Great cafe with fantastic indoor and outdoor seating options designed in old British style interior design. If you come during spring or summer, try to get one of the outdoor seating options as the views into the nature are very beautiful and it’s a perfect spot in the middle of nature.
The food was good, although service was a bit slow as they were quite busy on a nice Sunday. The cafe has nice walks outside as well, a big chess board and plenty of space for kids to play around.
Definitely one of our favorite places within the Dandenong Ranges.
J. C.
What an amazing meal and atmosphere. The staff were fantastic (and hilarious). We laughed and had the most amazing meal. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.
J. D.
Very nice old English style Cafe/Restaurant but staff said they could cater for my food sensitivities when I booked but I didnt get much choice when I got there. Some staff were more helpful than others.
M. S.
Good food and drink. Love the scenery. The balcony which is surrounded by trees and forest is calming. Decent prices.
Also the scones are great!
A. F.
We love the garden with its many levels and bridges and the menu is delicious too! Good for kids- although a revamp of the little slide and Jenga blocks might be due.
M. D.
Loved it here. Pie was great, staff were great, place was great and prices were great, what more can you ask for :)
A. G.
Nice location, themed interior, reasonably fast service and good food. Price is quite reasonable outside public holidays. Booking is required as it may be packed on weekends and holidays. Carpark is available at the back.
K. S.
Such a homely yet very therapeutic environment. The staff were so nice and friendly. The food? Wow absolutely amaizing and devine.. It was so warm and welcoming.. One could just sit and enjoy the atmosphere. Lovely and I would give a 10/10.
O. K.
The food was fantastic - that old-fashioned home-made quality. Calming atmosphere and friendly service. Will definitely be back.
G. F.
Excellent food, service and ambience. Beef cheeks cooked so well. Decor is beautiful. Highly recommend this place. Reasonable prices.

3.5 / 5
This Cafe is housed under a state of art cottage that is a historical beauty....And amid nature. That was one of the reason for choosing.this one since it was our very first after 3 months of shutdown.
We all ordered almost the same thing for brunch which was a pan seared salmon served with potatoes and sweet corn fritters, bacon and egg on toast, quiche, coffees, Koko hot chocolate, lemongrass tea, chai and carrot cake slice
Coffee was excellent and so was the espresso. Koko hot chocolate, as usual, was very good. So was the chai and lemongrass tea. Loved their version of beautifully cooked quiche but the crust was quite soggy. Loved the sauce that accompanied it.
Bacon and Egg are pretty much a standard that one cannot fail.
Carrot Cake slice and Salmon with Potatoes Sweet corn fritters.
Salmon was seared beyond, and was extremely dry and chewy. And thus, made everything on the plate disappointing. Carrot was super dry and extremely sweet for our palate.
Staffs' quite friendly and amazing. They really know how to take care of their customers.
Knowing that they are in the middle.of nowhere, portions are prices appropriately and ingredients are quite fresh.
S. K.
Beautiful! We had such a lovely night here. The food was incredible and the service was excellent. Thank you for a great night, we will be back.
K. B.
Lovely atmosphere. Staff very polite and friendly. Food was amazing, especially the guiness and mushroom pie.
H. M.
Best experience I have had at a restaurant, Especially want to thank our waitress Emily for great service despite it being busy, she always has a smile and served us with the best manners despite us changing our order numerous times, What a lovely lady give her a raise!
A. K.
Came here for a beer after work and will definitely be bringing the misso here for food next time after seeing all the delicious food being served around me.
Customer service was awesome from the moment we got there and the vibes here makes me feel right at home!
C. Y.
For Sunday’s it’s quite busy, therefore recommend to make reservations first. And we had to wait for the meals for an hour, I understand that there are times that they’re busy, however an hour wait is a long time. Their meals are quite delicious, especially the burgers and sandwiches, great service and great area for kids to play games.
R.
A wonderful cafe with great ambience. The inside is a setting of formal dining where as the outside was casual and cosy. If you fear wasps you may want to sit inside, as there is a few flying around.
The outside setting is nice with a little view of the downstairs courtyard. Courtyard has a giant checkers/chess board. wasps, as there's quite a few flying around.
I had the Chilli scrambled eggs which was delish and coffee was amazing.
A. B.
Food took for ever and was ok. Then when order drinks again took forever. Staff are friendly and fun but just a bit slow on orders etc. Hope next time it will be better
R. H.
Loved the homely feel, friendly staff, attention to detail and value for money on meals and drinks. For what you pay for beacon and eggs on toast I couldn't finish my meal! Would highly recommend and just a tip, if you were wanting a weekend sit down definitely make a booking they get pretty busy.
K. B.
A cosy place to enjoy lunch in the Dandenongs on a cold and rainy day! Tables in different rooms of the house. Very friendly service. Food very yummy and worth the wait. Good seniors deals available for those with a seniors card.
I. M.
Amazing vibe and amazing service. I would definitely recommend the quiche. Nice life sized chess board in their garden too. They served us really well even on a long weekend
N. E.
Beautiful atmosphere, amazing food and very helpful attentive staff. Loved this restaurant
S. B.
Excellent coffee and some really nice fluffy on the inside chips, all in beautiful surroundings. Even a little loop bush walk!
S. C.
amazing food and good veg options.
loved the burger.
service was good and the cafe lived upto the theme !
a must go place
K. R.
Beautiful place, with a surprise trail on the property meandering among the ferns. The food is always delicious and the gin selection is top notch. Great service also. Absolutely recommended
A. R.
Brilliant resturant. Had lunch here the other day and staff were lovely decor is welcoming and the food was blew me away. The vegetarian options were especially nice to see as I don't often have so many good options.
S. C.
The food is delicious and the scenery is glorious
k. k.
Being stuck at home on Mother's Day my son organised a hamper to be delivered from King Henry's. It was packed with the most delicious, fresh goodies !!! Beautiful quiche, vol au vents, little pies, fresh ribbon sandwiches and sweet pastries. Not to mention the best scones I've had in a long time with containers of cream, jam and marmalade. All with a bottle of wine and a voucher. Every morsel was delicious and like the best homemade you could get. Will definitely be using the voucher for a visit.
V. W.
Great family room. Wonderful ambience. Karen took special care with my 90 yo parents. Made our family afternoon all that more special.
E. S.
A most ambient venue with lovely lighting and open fires. Very cosy and romantic feel. The most comforting and charming old English venue in the Hills. Heart warming menu. Generous serves. Succulent food.First rate customer service. Highly recommended for all the family. My husband I finally made it back there after all the last two years debacle. My husband had the traditional English fare whilst I had an amazing pumpkin salad. Great drinks menu including Mulled Wine. Mmmmm
C. D.
good service, small portions, a bit expensive. the food tastes good. but not exceptional.
D. B. C.
Friendly staff - welcoming nooks - architectural and interior design Eye candy - bangers and mash with a pint - Cornish pasty and a sparkling for my wife - A perfect Sunday lunch
A. B.
Friendly staff, good food and lovely atmosphere!
Wonderful gardens to walk around after an amazing breakfast.
N. S.
The ambience is beautiful, and the staff is really friendly. If you choose to sit outside make sure it's not a cold day otherwise you'll freeze. I don't know if it's particularly a breakfast place but that's what we went for. The menu is simple but everything was cooked well. If you like 10 different components in your dish, this is not the place for you. But if you want a home made traditional breakfast kind of feel and want to sip your coffee with a view you'll definitely be pleased... I will be coming back to try lunch and dinner!
N. C.
Most of the dishes were excellent. Loved the coq au Vin and fish & chips and sausages. Scotch egg was unfortunately not great, too hard boiled / cold. Service friendly and accommodating for a gluten free diner. Keg beer was perhaps a touch stale but give leeway given COVID situation. Ambience súper cute and British.
E. S. S.
Glorious, relaxing setting, beautiful pot of Earl grey tea and excellent, friendly service. Thank you
R. B.
Really tasty and hearty food, friendly service, and great decor. We had a lovely little wander around the ponds too and it was so sweet! We will be back :) thank you!
L. H.
Sure it might be more remote and the price might hit a nerve, but the atmosphere, service, food, coffee, and of course the scenery, will make you question why would you ever spend your time and money elsewhere!
K. D.
I had forgotten what good hospitality feels like but the team at King Henry's reminded me. They were friendly and accommodating, the food was delicious and the setting idilic. I highly recommend a visit and I will be back.
H. B.
Excellent service. Great atmosphere. Delicious beautifully presented food. Loved it
K. C.
Highly recommended. The cafe staff were friendly and accommodating. Food service was fast, even though the place was full. Very good coffee and devonshire tea. Will be returning to try more of the menu in the near future!
D. S. S.
Lovely views of Dandenongs ferns etc. Good coffee and food. A great short walk through the ferns back to the car park the long way.
B. A.
Fantastic restaurant, amazing food, and beautiful vibe!
Highly recommended to people who loves classical and traditional experience!
N. A.
Average service, food quality is acceptable but portions are too small. Vibe is average and artificial. Not worth the money after all.
D. M.
Not only was the food delicious, but came very quickly with great service and friendly staff :)
K. B.
Great food, lovely location with great gardens to explore. Only problem was lunch menu was very expensive (ok if it were dinner menu) plus then had to add public holiday surcharge.
D. M.
Great Cafe, delicious food friendly staff . eggs and bacon with maple pancakes Delicious .. Hot chocolate wasnt deluxe as described, tasted too watered down..
a. c.
The scones were nice and fluffy. Meals were interesting especially the traditional menu
T. c.
We had a very nice lunch, service with a smile
A. m.
Very cosy, great ambience, smiling staff, great menu.
A. H.
Easy parking, well organised. A lovely place to have a high tea 😊
Z. A. P.
One of the best restaurants in the hills. 💜 Delicious food, great atmosphere and friendly staff. 🙂
K. M.
Meal was reasonable staff very friendly
Good location average pricing will go back
s. g.
We went there for lunch today for our 48th Wedding Anniversary. Lovely setting and great service. The food was good except for the pulled pork, quite tough. Recommend a visit, they were that busy. We will go there again but won't have pulled pork. Hope you enjoy. Also people took their dogs there, how cool is that.
P. L.
A beautiful restaurant in a beautiful neighbourhood. Staff are polite and professional. The food is very nice and you get what you expect from a good restaurant. I ordered Salmon, it came nicely cooked with a very delicious sauce. There is also parking behind the building. I enjoyed my visit very much!
K. E.
The food here is very good (at least for the things I've tried so far). The service is good and the decor is amusing with a display of Tudor furniture.
It can get very busy and the service slows at those time, so it may be better to ring ahead to find when are the best times. Plenty of parking down the driveway, and a lovely garden to wander (or romp if you're under 12) through, with a track leading down to the ferns and native trees along the creek
I. C.
Definitely a hidden gem. A beautiful and cosy cafe. Food is good, staff are friendly, excellent service. Highly recommended
N. C.
Super cozy, warm atmosphere. Our waitress was knowledgeable, professional and friendly. Food was delicious.
M. A.
Great food, great service. Very accommodating in letting us have a small private function which we were able to decorate the night before, and also able to bring in home-baked cakes. Beautiful venue in a gorgeous area, with kind, considerate staff. Highly recommend.
A. C. (.
Great place to stop for breaky, pancakes were awesome. Had a quick walk around the garden trail too
D. S.
Delightful lunch of king salmon paired with pear cider. Nice ambience with scents of freshly roasted coffee beans and good service.
I. I.
Scenery is spectacular and scones were fluffy buttery delish! Would definitely come back again.
H.
Great setting - both inside and outside. Really friendly staff. Good coffee. Last time we were here we got some quite uninspired fish and chips. Last time, we got some scrambled eggs, which were good, however for $22 it was quite expensive.
Would come here again for the coffee and the setting, less so for the food, however perhaps there are other meals that have a better value for money ratio.
J. N.
We visited during Christmas in July. The restaurant was nicely decorated and the atmosphere warm and cosy. The food, though, wasn't quite the standard I'd hoped. Everything was OK, but just that - OK. The apple and berry crumble was disappointing, as the fruit was cut into tiny pieces and was sitting in a pool of juice, rather than a thickened/reduced sauce. The crumble itself was more crumby than the crunchy topping I've come to expect. On the bright side, the coffee was pretty good, and the service was fine. Bottom line: if you're looking for a cosy pub with fairly simple food, then come here. If you'd prefer a bit more refinement, head up the road to Sassafras or Olinda.
B. D.
Beautiful and relaxing surroundings. The menu has something for everyone. Coffee and scones were yummy.
M. M.
A delightful experience, the service was impeccable and atmosphere outside under shade as requested. We will be doing it again soon. Highly recommend the establishment. I thank you a great 3 hour lunch experience . :-) :-)
B. V.
The best scones with our Devonshire tea.
D. E.
Such a English heritage themed tea house & eatery at the peak of Dandenong Ranges. I enjoyed their 2 course meal & I compared their scones with Miss Marples but scone was better here, though the clotted cream sucked.
b.
We celebrated a double 80th in the downstairs function room. Great communication in organising the event, experienced staff that made the day run smoothly and beautiful food what more could you want. It couldn't have been a better day., thank you.
A. P.
Nice Restaurant and lovely garden.
A. M.
Lovely, lovely, lovely!!! We stopped here to have a cuppa and some scones on our way to Olinda, the service was wonderful and the atmosphere was refreshing... Will definitely return!!!
S. U.
Great food at prices you'd expect, though you gotta book early due to it's popularity. Haven't had a bad meal yet!
Cosy setting, good service, nice place to be.
R. C.
Staff are lovely, atmosphere is perfect and food was good.
S. L.
Love the view inside out, nice view and good food.
J. G.
Lovely meal and service. Attentive staff. Menu was very limited due to storm last week. Salmon was so delicious though! Just don't like outside toilets 🤷♀️
A. C.
A great place to visit. Lovely casual dining with the theme running through from decor to dishes. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. A definite to visit on a warm day. Outside dining and little walking paths absolutely lovely.
B. S.
If you’re a hills local looking for something away from the tourists rate-race on a weekend, then give this place a whirl. Great food, value for money and you don’t have to battle to find a car park. Service is excellent, although when it gets busy food can be a little slow coming out, but what cafe/restaurant isn’t it. Menu is diverse and provides something for anytime of the day. Staff are always friendly and accommodating each time I visit. This spot is definitely one of the best cafes/restaurants the hills has to offer.
D. W.
Beautiful restaurant on Mount Dandenong. Stunning food, views and even come with playground for the kids. The beef cheek is fantastic. Though minus the herb if you are not a big fan.
J. M.
Incredible takeaway food during lockdown. Extremely generous servings with delicious fresh food. We had lunch and dinner from here and it was all fantastic. Best mushroom soup I've ever had as part of the three-course meal. Can't recommend highly enough.
K. G.
What a lovely treasure to visit! Great surrounds, food, service and ambience!
H. A.
Gorgeous place (a joy to explore even in the worst of winter), staff so friendly I'd go back just on that strength, but luckily the food was good too. Great place for kids and hungry adults.
S. A.
Lovely meal. Lovely atmosphere and staff. No where flat for easy parking if in wheelchair though. Beautiful gardens to wonder in.
r. b.
Such a great spot in the ranges for lunch! Food is always fresh and delicious, and the staff are just gorgeous. The theme (Old England - who'd have thunk? ;)) is nicely done without being tacky and the atmosphere is super relaxed. Nice little garden outside too if you fancy a stroll :)
N. D.
Amazing hosts, customer service, food and atmosphere............Thank you xx
M. S.
G'day I live in Emerald, my wife & I wanted to have breakfast out this Sunday. So we first drove past King Henry's Restaurant but turned around I thought to have a look.
Beautiful surrounding lovely deck area. Service disappointingly slow. Wasn't busy. Plenty of people sitting down enjoying the environment they all looked deprived of food service. After ordering our coffee it arrived 15m later and breakfast 40 min (Lol) who's timing that. Cutlery wasn't provided til our meals came. Crickey no salt n pepper on table. Nevertheless Menu impressive very friendly staff. I love my coffee strong: ordered "Latte" just can't say I liked it: milk a little burnt or something!?. Wife disappointed. Guess I shouldn't judge but being in Hospitality for more than 20yrs. I'll let you be the jury. Have a nice day!
H. L.
Wow..what a gem..went for dinner tonight..only been open for dinner a few weeks and it was fantastic. Great staff, very comfortable dinning room and a really innovative, delicious menu and all for a very fair price. 4 of us had 2 or 3 cources each we had various meals and all loved it and already planning our next visit.
Bravo well done.......... what a difference 3 weeks makes. Im afraid to say they dropped the ball Saturday night . We sat outside even though this was not mentioned at the time of booking. Ok can get passed that we thought, until we were eated alive by mosquitos. Service was poor had to get up and go ask for salt and pepper, had to ask for the table to be cleared 10 minutes after finishing eating, was not offered dessert, staff standing around chatting and avoiding eye contact and worst of all the food was average at best after being so yummy only a few weeks before. Very dissatisfied and dissapointed as we thought we had found a little gem .unfortunately you are only as good as your last service abd it was so very different could have been a different resturant 😖
L.
Both meals that we had ordered were amazing. This mixed with the friendly staff and the serene environment, will make our choice to come back, very easy. Fantastic.
H. I.
I went there fir Christmas in July. Service and food was amazing. Waitress went above and beyond to make are night a good one. Will definitely go back there again.
S. W.
Yum!!! We went to the King Henry Arts Cafe a little while back and still we all talk about "you know, that place with the amazing loaded fries". I thought with such great memories I just had to write a review.
From the moment we walked through the doors the staff were practically falling over each other to look after us. The food was DELICIOUS and service absolutely impeccable. I will definitely be back and would recommend this cafe to any overseas guests visiting the Dandenongs. Similar to another reviewer we also came here after going to the 1000 steps and this was just the treat we needed after a touch morning of exercise.
A. S.
Beautiful food and a great setting!
C. S.
Came up here on a beautiful autumn day and sat in the front area outside in the sun. The food was amazing. We got the salmon and steak sandwich. Both were cooked to perfection. The staff were also so lovely. Highly recommend and I will be back here soon to try the Devonshire tea!
D. H.
Really nice and peaceful atmosphere, food came out quick, however we did arrive for lunch early so we missed 'peak hour'. I highly recommend booking as this is a popular place. I'm looking forward to returning and trying other things on the menu. My kids had fun playing outdoor chess on the grass out the back, also has a nice little walk through the bush.

Great food and coffee with a view and friendly staff. Book ahead though - it gets busy. The garden is lovely and has a short forest walk. I thought this place would be the usual poor quality tourist fare - not a bit! Dog friendly, kid friendly, high chairs and a baby change table.
R. F.
I think this place could potentially be excellent. I ordered the Beef Brisket (Xmas in July menu). I suspect my order was forgotten and then hastily slapped together. When I finally got it. The vegetables were lovely, though the cheesy cauliflower was also lovely there was too much of it relative to other vegetables. In contrast I had three slices of brisket, which looked tiny in comparison and they were dry (probably from rapid heating) which made them a little tough and unpleasant. It was sad because with some moisture they'd have been beautiful, tender and flavoursome given even in this state one could tell it was seasoned well. The gravy which was delightful, helped. I think it might have just been a bad day, and perhaps too busy for the staff they had. With all the competition nearby, I doubt I'd be returning, but hopefully they'll pick up and be as excellent as they could be. That dish could have been a knock out dish!

Very nice environment, very good coffee ☕
C. R.
We go here a lot particularly mid week when there are less tourists. Beautiful venue, fabulous, friendly staff and good food. So many yummy things to try. If they have the gumbo soup (specials board), have it. Its spicy and very delicious.
k. o.
This place is a hidden gem! Lovely environment. When you enter the cafe, it is like entering into another world. Beer battered fish and chips is awesome and portion is big also. The dessert is so good. I ordered buttermilk pana cotta which include the lemon sorbet in it. In one mouthful, you can experience the combination of texture and flavour. Everything blends in very well. Highly recommended😍
A. L.
I was very happy and surprised to find this gem in Sassafras today.
King Henry Restaurant is set in a beautiful treed setting in a beautiful old Tudor styled home. A new never of lovely dining areas as well as a great alfresco deck and bar. The meals are reasonably priced and generous serves. The service was excellent and friendly and weddings and functions are welcome here. They have a huge chess set in their garden setting and have some beautiful settings for marriage ceremonies. I will definitely be revisiting this little gem.
R. W.
Went to have a devonshire tea while on holidays and I think this was the best devonshire tea I've ever had. Great value for money! The best part was we asked for extra cream and this is the first place I've ever been given plenty of cream. And beautiful surroundings. We cant wait to go back and next time get a meal also which looked awesome. Also, very lovely staff so every aspect was perfect!
M. M.
Extensive menu of traditional English dishes as well as modern ones and favorites. They even have a Spanish style 'gintonic' menu. Choose your gin and choose your tonic from long lists of both.
J. C.
The braised beef cheek was excellent - highly recommended
D. P.
Such a quant little place set in the Dandenong Ranges themed British. Lots of little knick knacks decorated throughout to look at whilst waiting g for food. Very yummy food but a tad on the $$ side. Deffinately a place to visit.
M. L.
The inside dining area is a bit dark and stark. Has very little charm.
Outside is a different story. The balcony area overlooks very lovely gardens and sun can warm you on the colder days if you're lucky.
Food is unexceptional but ok. Coffee is good but not great.
Not sure now this place survives but for the tourist trade.
l. t.
Great platter breakfast to share. Garden setting. Old world charm.
J. J.
Quiet Friday afternoon lunch, with covid safe check-in. Kid friendly, great food, and coffee
G. G.
Great ambience. Cheery helpful staff. Good food. Good Menu variety. Good value. Good after lunch coffee. Lovely setting. Beautiful grounds backing on to a National Park with bush walks which would be nice at a suitable time of day. Our First visit.. we'll be back for sure.
d. k.
Found this beautiful place today, always driven past but never been in. Loved the atmosphere, the food! It would get 5 stars but the managing waiter wouldn’t allow us to move from the window spot which was cold. They hadn’t even taken our orders yet and clearly it wasn’t reserved. Will I go back? Yes! :) the other staff were lovely, he though needs to stress less and listen to the customer!
M. K.
The property is stunning, the staff are super friendly and the food is amazing. Pork Burger is so good! If you looking for a catchup and yummy food, highly recommend.
R. D.
Nice coffee (stopped there a few times), and we have eaten there as well. Very nice. Staff are friendly and attentive.
B. B.
Good mocha with marshmallow . Not to hot so it's drinkable and doesn't burn your lips . Nice deck to sit on and enjoy the views with big chess board and small walking tracks around the grounds. Only take away at the moment during covid times.
B. G.
Great food great table service and good staff.
A. V.
Good: food was delicious. Waitress nice but over worked.
Bad: outside sitting is freezing without heaters.
They brought one meal to our table, a yummy steak sandwich. But... Then we waited 25 minutes for next meal. Then further 10 minutes for the tea (second meal was Devonshire tea!!).
They were just not ready for a full house business (Sunday long weekend).
Will be back tough as it may have been just a bad day.
a. t.
Great service loved our cheese platter amongst the beautiful scenery.
B. E.
Great location, Friendly staff and Excellent Scones :)
C. H.
Fabulous food ,great staff ,beautiful

On the veranda weather permitting , amongst the wonderful, trees and flowering bushes .5 🌟
D. M. M.
When all the other Devonshire Tea places are fully booked, fear not! This place is a hidden gem, and their home made jams are amazing! Great selection of teas too... service can be a little slow, but it was worth the wait!
S. S.
Excellent service. Quality food.
J. R.
Excellent food, the setting inside is fantastic. Service was good. Definitely have to go back and try their breakfast menu
J. C. (.
Great coffee, great environment, nice gardens.
July 11th, 2020 update: Dropped in today for takeaway coffee, it was really good CBD quality the muffins were fresh out of oven mixed berries and chocolate, perfect cheer me up to get through this lockdown!
N. L.
Went here for a friend's birthday gathering. There were a number of young kids about and they loved being able to run through the trails in the wooded area out back. The coffee was good and we ordered some chips which took ages and we're served hot. Actually, insanely hot. Temperature-of-the-sun hot. Some mix ups with the bills, perhaps due to the fact that it was very busy.
J. H.
The meals we had were excellent as were the staff who attended us. Great location full of intrigue. Highly recommend.
G. Y.
Lovely views of the rainforest, cosy interior, nice selection of food with their traditional English options quite interesting. Friendly staff, kids welcomed, worth a visit!
S. H.
Beautiful , unique and relaxing atmosphere!
Happy to see it reopen and transformed into a stylish manor. King Henry would be Proud!!!
Away from the busy village of Sassafras , you will get to experience the beautiful and tranquil gardens. A unique cottage overlooking ferns , trees and water features.
Friendly owners and great food.
A Must stop venue for lunch or afternoon tea !
J. S.
Incredible service and the food was to die for! I particularly enjoyed the coconut hot choc (made with REAL coconut!) - and the Beefeater out the front made for an interesting photo opportunity!
I would love to see a little more literature on King Henry - I would definitely bring my students on a history excursion for lunch haha!!
B. H.
This was my second visit to King Henry and still love it. The food and service excellent and finished off with the beautiful scones camomile apple tea which was devine. It was humid and raining but outside covered over from precipitaton. The tea was so refreshing on such a humid day. There is plenty of parking and such a relaxed atmosphere again I would be happy to recommend this beautiful little cafe.
c. p.
We had a lovely brunch at King Henry's. Absolutely beautiful place with marvelous gardens and outdoor decking space overlooking the natural scenary. Only 4 stars due to terrible mix up with our hot drinks and we had to wait for 30 min, in the end we had to walk out without our cuppa!
M. B.
We had a lovely time at The King Henry Café/Restaurant in Sassafras. The food was delicious and the staff extremely friendly and approachable. The building is decorated beautifully and the gardens a delight to wander through. I highly recommend King Henry Arts Café.
L. H.
Great atmosphere, great food, superb service from lovely and friendly staff, and the gardens are stunning, you could explore all afternoon
L. M.
Great location, the gardens / short walk are great at keeping people entertained especially youngsters. As far as the cafe, great premise although let down a little by service. We arrived at 1:30ish and were directed to a table inside, no menus provided, no water offered and apparently our arrival not announced to the staff member looking after that section as 10-15 min later she came in and looked at our empty table and apologetically offered assistance. The delay seemed quite odd as the outside section appeared very well staffed. Menus finally came out although mine was missing the cakes page which is verging on criminal for a Sunday arvo. It wasn't until after we had finished eating that we heard the table next to us being told about the cake display in the next room, it would have been nice if this was offered to us as well. Drinks and cakes came out at separate times and the cakes came without a fork and serviette. All small things but added up took off some of the gloss which is a fine establishment.
A. E.
Haven't been for a while, I head it was under new management so thought wegivebit another go. Pleasantly surprised, quick attention, pre-order drinks sorted immediately. Coffee was great I hear they roast their own.vtge lunch came quickly and the beef open sandwich with mustard dressing was excellent my better half had the delicious soup. By the time we left it was getting busy and you can see why. It's a big improvement and the staff are now very attentive. Well be coming back that's for sure.
R. R.
I was pleasantly surprised by this place! We came here on a chilly and rainy day and were seated inside by the fire. It was cosy! I had a delicious coq au vin. Will be back 😊
C.
Simply Brilliant! King Henry Arts Cafe is definitely a place you need to stop at if you’re visiting the Dandenong Ranges. The interior décor is fit for a King or Queen and the outdoor seating overlooks their beautiful gardens. All the food is delicious and of the highest standards.
M. B.
First visit but won’t be last. Thoroughly enjoyed Christmas in July 3 course lunch. Everything was perfection.

It is a great place to have a relaxing chatter
while sitting in a box window surrounded by Union Jack covered cushions.

b. f.
A really great place for a family get together friendly atmosphere and staff. The gardens are beautiful.
D. T.
Nice surroundings, in fact, absolutely beautiful gardens. Menu not so good. Really don't provide selections for gluten free which was disappointing. Most cafe's do now. So if you too have coeliac disease, I dont recommend going here. This cafe is behind the times in more ways than one.
D. F.
Staff are excellent. Friendly, accommodating and welcome. Lovely outdoor setting and coffee is yum 👌
R. C.

F. T.
Gotta try the slow cooked beef cheek unbelievable
N. P.
Surrounded by beautiful greenery, food is delicious, staff are extremely helpful and will go out of their way to answer queries.
It was unfortunate that we missed out on the 'all day breakfast' menu once we were at the cafe as there was a larger variety of vegetarian meals available.
Nonetheless, I highly recommend this location!
S. H.
Lovely food. Staff were helpful and courteous. Great atmosphere. They should get rid of the surcharge when paying by card though
A. T. N.
This place is definitely a hidden gem in the Dandenong Mountain close to the Kokoda track. It offers great food at reasonable prices and has also some awesome views. The place has some nice landscaping with a gigantic chess game. Highly recommended.
J. K.
An absolutely gorgeous, atmospheric interior in a nice scenery. The food and drinks are just like the service: very good. Definitely recommend the Sassefras tea and Rarebit
J. S.
Beautiful cosy cafe consistent with the area it's in. Sporting a fireplace, a great menu and friendly staff. Lots of space, nice and quiet.
Not uncommon for people to book and reserve tables.
D. B.
We had excellent service at King Henry today. The food was beautifully presented and I felt the price of the meals and the all-day-breakfast was great for the quality. Good value, lovely setting and we'll return.
G. T.

Great food, Great service, Great area for kids to play, except received food an hour late, which I understand because they were quite busy, however an hour late is a long time to wait. Overall, Great though! 😁

A. D.
Lovely ambience both in (relaxing fireplace) and outdoor (beautiful greenery and pond). Good food, delicious coffee but average hot chocolate.
m. p.
Interesting building, quaint, nice outside setting, but the breakfasts are expensive for what they are. Basically small so the purchase of extras are necessary. $4 for a small hash brown?? Cmon...
