What a beautiful place! Tucked away, High above the Yarra River, we were lucky enough to get a balcony seat! The cheese arancini balls were perfection, as was the eggplant. In regards to mains I had the slow cooked ox cheek, which I would get again in a heartbeat and my partner got a pizza - just as delish. Not only the food but the service was awesome - we’ll be back.

We had a short window of time for dinner before a show and thought we’d try our luck at La Camera without a booking. Not only did they give us a table (albeit with a time limit), they brought the food and drinks out so quickly that we had easily cleared the table before our time was up! So appreciative they were able to fit us in and make us feel so welcome when we were completely expecting to be turned away (and they would have been well within their right to do so)! Attended La Camera on a Sunday evening. A nice venue with obstructed views of the river. It was quite noisy but that comes with the territory . Due to it being hot the venue had a cooling method of creating mist, this had the side effect of raining on some tables. We had the Bolognese Arancini for starters then ordered the Rib Eye and Porchetta. The Arancinis were delicious and accompanied with aioli. The steak was fine and the Porchetta was a nice dish.

I've eaten here a few times now... And came here tonight with a few friends who hadn't been. 2 of us with weird diets, both well and truly accomodated without fuss. Cozy atmosphere in a booth. Cool that temp is checked via auto machine! Suzanna provided wonderful service, greatly appreciated by all. Food and drinks delicious (although avoid the espresso martini- cinnamon on top? Coconut martini was genius though!). Thanks all, will continue to recommend.

Tasty, rustic pizza inspired by Roman tradition. Apparently this means a crispier base, coated in semolina, which is absolutely delicious. My vegetarian pizza was abundant in toppings and really tasty, even after I took some home and reheated it. The Nutella calzone is also a decadent treat that's worth a try!

Loved the food.. I ordered Rigatoni Con Pollo and Arancini. Arancini had three rice balls and tasted good and the pasta was cooked perfectly and the sause was we'll seasoned and not too much nor less. the serving size was perfect.

Great coffee at a special rate as recommended by one of the tourist vendors from the ferries on Yarra. I had a soy latte to tie me over on a very chilly morning whilst awaiting the ferry cruise and it was delicious!

Came here pre show at arts centre. Perfect for that sort of thing, close by, quick service, in and out in an hour. I half drank my beer before I realised the crack in the glass, they replaced it. Steak I ordered was medium rare, it came out medium. Good flavor, although they wanted to charge $3.50 for gravy, and at $39 a steak you would think it came with. The waitress who took our order was lovely, the one who brought the food was very ordinary. Spent $120 for entree to share, 2 mains and 2 drinks.

I attended my colleague’s retirement lunch and he suggested La Camera, the service is lovely and the food is delicious. I ordered the grilled meat with salad with steamed green beans and roared pumpkin. It is the first time I tasted this kind of food which is different from the standard Italian food.

It was lovely, on a freezing cold night, to be ushered outside - warmed under heaters - to take in the magical flickering lights of Melbourne’s city skyline - with Flinders Street Station glowing in the foreground. Our meal at La Camera was excellent. The pizza that my companion chose was the finest crust ( authentic Italian like it is cooked in regions of Italy) with generous but not over the top meat, tomato and onion / garlic flavours. My seafood linguini was absolutely delicious - abundant with seafood and the biggest prawns - all in a beautiful garlic-infused cream sauce. When I asked for more chilli, chilli oil was brought to the table - which for me ( a hot chilli lover) was just the answer. Service was excellent - professional, pleasant and not intrusive. The meal was a delight and I would heartily recommend La Camera to my friends and family - and return soon for another lovely authentically-Italian meal.

I enjoyed dining at La Camera on friday night. The food was simply beautiful. I had the Gustosa pizza which was honestly the best pizza I've had to date. The dough - perfectly made, not chewy yet firm enough to hold together. The dough was surprisingly easy to cut through too. The sauce base was flavoursome yet didn't overpower the toppings (Italian sausage, Calabrese salami, caramelised onion (so good), mozzarella & fresh basil). I was pleased with the size of the pizza too (see photo). Overall a wonderful visit, will definitely be coming again 5/5

There was a great selection of homemade Italian dishes including condiments, which were presented beautifully with attention to detail. The meals were incredibly satisfying with great portion sizes. I recently booked our Christmas Day Lunch for 17 people at La Camera and could not fault them. None of us had ever been there before, so I was a little nervous... but needn’t have been. We had such a lovely welcome at the door, had a great view of the river from where we were seated, food was great, filling and served efficiently, staff were very helpful with some dietary requirements and very attentive to all our requests, special mention to Susie who looked after us on the day she was absolutely great. We were all very happy with everything and definitely plan to go back. Highly recommend.

Amazing experience. My partner and I went to La Camera on the weekend for our anniversary and were looked after by a nice lady who was very attentive and super kind. We ordered the bruschetta and arancini balls for entree and sausage pizza and carbonara for our mains which came out quick and tasted delicious. Amazing place, food and service. I've been to this restaurant before and again last night and I was very satisfied both times. The service is fast, friendly and efficient, and the good is the best. The pizzas are arguably the best I've had anywhere, they are delicious as well as cooked really fast, I am safe to say they are cooked in a proper pizza oven. Definitely recommend coming here.

First things first. Great, inviting atmosphere and that's always important. Prices are what you would expect for Italian cuisine at restaurant tier. Service is excellent and well displayed. Food quality is absolutely exceptional alongside a thorough partnership with the flavour each dish offers. My girlfriend and I are vegetarian and we go here all the time, we absolutely love it. A large menu with a decent amount of vegetarian options, everything we've ordered has been delicious. One visit the pizza was a little dry and sparse, I mentioned it to a waiter and the manager visited our table and gave us a 50% off voucher for the next time we came. Friendly helpful staff, great selection of wines, nice atmosphere outside (we always sit outside, it's dimmer lighting and more intimate), and considering how busy they always are we have never waited longer than fifteen minutes for a table. Highly recommended!

Amazing experience tonight for our first time at the restuarant. I called earlier and requested a table near the window which they said was booked out but they would try their best. Not expecting much, we were greeted with prime seating on the balcony for a party of 6. Our waitress, who I wish we had her name, was able to give us all recommendations and was so patient too. Our entrees came out ten minutes later all at the same time and were delicious and generous (bruscheta, antipasto, aracini). Our mains came soon after at the same time and staff ensured we had everything we needed before leaving. They were also amazing - not huge but certainly filling and great quality. I rang about a reservation and was advised that a table would be available in 10 minutes but my party could wait at the bar and we'd be looked after. When we arrived ten minutes later, we were promptly seated and our waiter attended to our every need. His accent was sometimes hard to understand but overall, good service.

My wife and I tried this place last night for the first time and will definitely be back. Service was excellent without being overbearing, and had a great view of the Yarra from the balcony. Our selection of 5 Antipasti plates was delicious and perfectly sized so we could still enjoy our main course. My wife's beef cheek spaccatelle was amazing and my linguine was packed full of fresh seafood. The bill $134.00 for including drinks was pretty standard for the area. Thoroughly enjoyed it and not quite sure how it took so long to try it!

La Camera has been in Southbank for many many years. It was always good but I can say it has increased in service, quality of food and particularly authenticity to the Italian cuisine. A weekend lunch with my mother saw us enjoy an amazing spread of delicious handmade food - from an excellent seafood linguine to a wonderful antipasti spread from meats to arancini. There was a wonderful selection of wines and the staff were all gracious, courteous, and attentive to our needs.

The meal was fantastic! Okay, my partner and I ordered a pizza each, so there wasn't any diversity there, however we really enjoyed each one. Loved the base, and there was just the right amount of topping in my opinion - the less is more type of thing. If anything, they were maybe a fraction too big (for us anyway). One thing that's really hit or miss these days is the service, but here, this was a big hit! We received a really warm welcome, and the staff pretty much left us alone, yet seemed to turn up just at the right time when needed. My only, minor, criticism would be to do with the water. A smallish glass was given to us each after we requested flat water, with the waiter trying to push us in the direction of ordering sparkling - okay not overly pushing (if that makes sense), but when we were asked if we wanted water the only mention was of sparkling. After that one glass, there was no refill or bottle of water left on the table.

Only thing I would mention was when we walked in (didn't have a reservation) we are told we only had an hour at the table as it was booked later on - was no problem as with a 6 year old in tow wasn't going to be a late one anyway......problem was it took over 15 mins for anyone to take our order and then at least another 20 for meal to arrive....... we were still eating when told we needed to leave..... no problem with setting the time expectations upfront but make sure the wait staff and kitchen are also accross the request !

This place is a gem that you wouldn't know was there. Paul runs a top notch place that serves one of the best Roman style pizzas in town. I have been coming here for years for lunch and dinner and am yet to get a bad meal or bad service. In fact here, I don't think I ever will. Wow. Just wow! The meal 10/10. Just perfect. We had the twice cooked chicken thigh. Ramona our waitress also a 10/10 for service. Arguably the best performing waitress I've seen. The place is busy, noisy, there was a wait for food even though meals came out fast, the shear volume was incredible. We watched dish after dish go by looking great. And the desserts. We will be back for those. The let downs were the guy at front of house didn't write us down before directing us to sit at the bar. No biggie we just let them know when they went to seat diners who arrived after us. The bar staff were in no hurry to sell drinks. I sat with my wallet as they chatted and did other tasks not even acknowledging me as they stood right across the bar for me. When they turned toward me and past me often. Then finally one turned to me, greeted me and asked if I would like a drink. Wow. I felt invisible. So I asked for a dark beer and what they had. The lady glanced at the taps, then the beer cabinet and said "I'm sorry we don't have any dark beers. Would you like anything else." She really had no idea about the beds, the differences to anything. We spoke trying to get ion out of her on the beers but her knowledge in this area was a vacuum. There were also Guinness sitting in the cabinet. She was oblivious to this being a dark beer. A bit of a comedy really. The food, the coffee and service just wiped the bar and front of house performance. We'll be back.

The service was excellent: attentive and responsive. The food. We ordered fried gnocchi, which was interesting in a good way; the pizza special which was delicious; the spatchcock which was the only letdown as it was dry and overcooked; and the pistachio slice which was marvelous. If the spatchcock had been cooked well, this restaurant would definitely have got a 5* rating from me.

Italian cuisine to suit a simple palette. No spices and reasonably plain and simple fare. I ordered the Brasato di Angello (slow cooked lamb with vegetables and local chestnuts). I felt the dish was over salted and I like more salt than the average person. One piece of meat tasted slightly off. My friend's ordered the fresh fish of the day which was delicious but a very small portion for $34, which left them still feeling hungry. More an appetisers than a main portion. My other friend's ordered the pink lamb fillet salad which was a nice light lunch to have. There are a good selection of wines such as the Tar & Roses from Heathcote region. Overall an acceptable place to dine but not outstanding in any way. It's Melbourne and there are better places to eat that hit the spot both in terms of value and taste. I would suggest this restaurant is more catered to attracting the tourist dollar and not so much for the local palate.

La Camera is a Melbourne institution. Its riverside location gives fantastic views of the Yarra River and the CBD, especially at sunset. A classic Italian restaurant, serving up pizza, pasta, salumi (sliced meats like prosciutto and salami), salads and more. One time I came here they were serving “Italian Yum Cha” with small serves of their favourite dish wheeled around on carts. They’re not afraid to experiment and try different things! Hanging for something substantial, I chose the rigatoni. The pasta was perfectly al dente, with lots a smokey prosciutto, and a rich tomato sauce. Janeca had the Tortelloni allo scoglio. She said the crab, prawn and ricotta filling was very fresh and delicious. Tasted like it was homemade! On the side, some greens cooked with a splash of olive oil and garlic. Very light, this is a great healthy accompaniment for any dish. Shout out to our waiter, who was in training, but still giving it his best. In fact all of the staff there were super proffesh! We always have a great time there. If you want great Italian food in Southbank, I’d recommend La Camera.
