Comments of La Madonna

Everything was PERFECTION from start to finish! This was a very memorable night for me and my partner. Nan and Danny were amazing chefs, I was very satisfied with the dishes, each dish was jam packed with flavours, I had my little ratatouille moment where music was playing in my head for each bite - especially the Tomato compressed, Octopus dish and the Dry aged Duck ( pre order). Thank you to all the chefs and staffs that totally made our night <3 Will be back for more!

A restaurant that blends Asian style so seamlessly that you'll be amazed at how unique and original even a single morsel is once you try it. Especially the duck and tiramisu. One bite of the duck leg was expected to be crispy duck meat, but it turned out to be a mouthful of duck fat, not greasy but just right, instantly satisfying; the wonderful thing about the tiramisu is the addition of cocoa chocolate beans, soft cream and cocoa chocolate melt into one and very chewy, great taste. Although the duck waited for more than half an hour, but it was worth it. The price and service match, and the selection of wines and cocktails are well chosen

Our experience was amazing. The food is magnificent, especially the famous duck, zucchini fritters, decompressed tomato and matcha cannoli !! Big thanks to Darcy and Cate for making our time at La Madonna so warm and memorable. Will definitely be back ❤️

A hidden place on the 3rd floor in next hotel. I love their oval table and seating design. My fav entree is grilled octopus. Straccitella was also good with cheese inside the tomato. While the focaccia was cold, I love to eat hot bread. We ordered two pasta and one fish. Pasta were good cuz they made it Al Dente. I highly recommend the fish.
My friend was eager to eat duck but they didn’t have it last night. The service was generally good but the whole environment was too noisy for me.

Had a great time here. All staff were very friendly and service was great, very attentive and created an experience rather than just a meal. Met the chef Adrian who suggested the dishes based around or preferences and it was just a delightful meal.

Such an amazing place - their steak and barrel aged cocktails are a must try simply mind blowing. We were so impressed by the food, service and atmosphere that we decided to host our wedding reception dinner here.

Wayyyy better than the surrounding but unfortunately, tragically bad new restaurants, Society&Yakimono.
The duck is a must try!
Excellent service, they made you tip vaulunterily.
It deserves more attention and a re visit!

Well done to Danny and Adrian, the menu is incredible! The staff were superb from the moment we walked in. We started with a drink at the bar where the offering is extensive and the bar staff knowledgeable, beautiful ambience too.
Mid week dining meant we got to avoid the busy rush and had a nice quiet evening.
Images of our dishes attached, highly recommending all of these.
Kingfish/ octopus to start off with something light and fresh, mussels on pizza fritto with a hint of spice (lots of flavour), zucchini frittos were pure goodness, aged roast duck with perfect crispy skin, truffle cacio e pepe (daily special) and one each of the cannolis for dessert - the dark chocolate was bitter as expected and the dulcey chocolate with campari cream kept bursting with flavour after each bite!
I'll certainly be back soon to try more!

Amazing service by the staff, they treated me like a Spanish King. Cocktail was on point and they also have the crispest tap water one can find in Australia. The restaurant area is also exquisite.

Don't know what happened to my duck.
Came here exactly for the dry aged duck last week but apparently it was overcooked. And the staff said it's normal as it came out from the oven.
Other foods are good. Will recommend prawn tartare.

Wow! This restaurant/bar is on level 3. Greeted with opulet decor. Dinner was amazing. Every dish we ordered was delicious and refined. These included the kingfish/octopus and the stracciatella/anchovy. As the waiter said his favourite snack is the zucchini frittos, we ordered these and can see why they are his favourite - absolutely delightful and tasted so good. The different textures and flavours made these so more-ish! You have to get these!! One of the mains was the spanner crab spaghetti. As it is on small plate, I thought the serving was on the small side, but once you get started eating it, it's the right size (especially given we already shared 4 "snacks" before hand). Next time, I will check out the bar which looked classy.
Easier to enter Next Hotel from Little Collins St (there's a green sign for Next Hotel).

Had a great night on Sunday, from the door when when I walked in, the concierge was amazing, to the moment I got to the restaurant. Dory was in charge of the table and he knew what he was doing and all the wines were a match with the menu the chef selected, it was just a great combination. Well done on the training. Just felt rushed when they changed the waiter for an older lady, like they wanted to get rid of us. But after all it was a great experience. Will come back for sure! Try the tomato it is incredible.

What can I say. Great customer service, the chef came out and talked to our table. We went with the chef special per person. We got 5 Amazing dishes.

As a self confessed foodie I pride myself on my ability to research a restaurant that is worth spending my hard earned Australian $. The restaurant is located in the heart of Collins street, perched on Level 3 at Next hotel.
Upon entering we were greeted warmly by the doorman and were advised how to get to the relevant level.
The decor is simple with a dark colour palette yet warm and inviting with a hint of sophistication.
The menu offers an assortment of delicious and mouthwatering starters and main courses that appeal to meat eaters and vegetarians alike.
Our thoughts on what we ate:
Salt & vinegar zucchini fritto - simple presentation yet truly amazing, perfect marriage of salt and vinegar, with both complimenting each. A perfect example of simple that is done well.
Stracciatella, anchovy, pickled green tomato, peppers & garlic toast - a must try, build your own bruschetta. Creamy mild and delicious with the right amount of salt. We were a little disappointed with the absence of the compressed tomato but nonetheless, further reason to return. Yay for us!! Lol!!
Roasted pumpkin, shiitake XO, almonds & mushroom floss - out of all the shared starters, this was our least favourite and found this a little boring and not en par with the rest of what we had.
For mains I had the Spanner crab spaghetti - I’m primarily vegetarian but I do eat seafood on the occassion. It did not disappoint! The pasta was cooked to perfection, with the crab meat the star of the dish. The chilli and nori added depth of flavour, and wqs just so moreish. I can still imagine how it tasted whilst I’m writing this.
My partner had the risotto with truffles - it was creamy, with a deep, earthy flavour and a lot of umami.
Another round of drinks accompanied desserts, the
dessert was excellent, we shared a cannoli, like no other, it was made of wafer thin chocolate casing filled with infused chocolate semifreddo which was dipped in pistachio.
The service was of the highest quality with the waiters attentive but not obstructive.
I highly recommend this restaurant. The food is absolutely amazing, the drinks are bar none and the ambience is warm and inviting.

Definitely the place to go, cocktails and the amazing presentation of the dishes

My parents had been here once before and loved it. So they booked again for my birthday. Every dish we had was great. A good range of dishes and all very tasty. We had a cocktail at well. I loved the el Diablo. Price was reasonable for what you got too.

Fantastic Italian fusion food with thoughtful and well executed flavors. Excellent service and finished with the best Negroni I have found so far. This new restaurant is a must go.
C. C. (.
It is good, but overpriced. The aged dry duck, might because of my unrealistic expectations, it tasted just okay.
A.
Excellent food and attentive service. Great range of cocktails too.
Recommend the Duck.

Nice and good experience, chef can amend to your dietry requirements too.

Opening just this March is Next Hotel Melbourne, located towards the theatre end of the city within the newbuild 24-storey 80 Collins precinct.
.
We were delighted to be one of the firsts to explore the lounge, bar and La Madonna restaurant. With a mid-century inspired design on the darker color palette it's masculine but very welcoming. With a very unique concept of a Barrel Room, where spirits are aged in barrels and decanted to order. This evening we were treated to a decanting of a Negroni served at dinner.
.
Headed by Melbourne-based chefs, Daniel Natoli and Adrian Li. La Madonna features local produce and regularly changing menus.
.
Over the course of the evening we shared many grazing plates: ribbons of zucchini fritto, cured meats contrasted with house pickles, kingfish and a fascinated white soy, stracciatella & basil filled compressed tomato, taking bruschetta to the next level. So much skill and creativity in the creation and presentation of these dishes.
.
For mains we had blue eye puttanesca rigatoni, bistecca ala di'ana (steak diane) featuring the most amazing tomahawk served medium with a mushroom sauce, butter potatoes and beans. I'm coming back for this dish.
.
Another round of drinks accompanied desserts, a work of art as always the case when working with chocolate. Chocolate & Fernet-Branca cannoli with pistachio and chocolate soil.
Thanks @nextmelbournehotel @lamadonnamelbourne and @qstratergies for an amazing dinner and congrats on your opening! We can't wait to return for drinks soon. #invite

Very cool place in the heart of the CBD. Refined and creative dishes with special attention to quality and detail. Not for the super hungry ones, but for those who are looking for something different. Great location and bar too.

New menu! Opens on Monday, really can't complain!

came here with high expectations as I really loved Rina's when Daniel and Adrian were at the helm. La Madonna blew me away. everything was top class, from the impeccable service to the excellent food. everything that we ordered was top class, especially the pasta and the steak. the compressed tomato is a must as well as the zucchini. sensational restaurant!! I will definitely be back once the dry aged duck is ready.

Second visit and food was solid!! Delicious. Steak was a touch chewy...but tasty regardless. Loved the fig carpaccio!

Entrees really really good.
The pasta is expensive and from an Italian restaurant I am expecting a bigger amount of pasta for 40$.
Desserts are good.
A pity not trying the duck that was not more available.

The service and ambience were great - priced very reasonably considering the amazing food and delicious range of wines. The olives, lobster ravioli and compressed tomato were the highlights.
L. H.
Decent food but subpar service especially for the cost. Waited several minutes to be seated (with a reservation) even when there were numerous staff walking past us and ignoring us.

Gorgeous bar with some great cocktails on the menu. I love that they barrel age their spirits.
Definitely try the negroni

One of the best meal we had in a while, very very good

100% foodie approved! The cocktails were delicious and the food was not only delicious but also very exciting. The tomato 🍅 was really fun to eat!
We didn’t get to eat the duck because they ran out so definitely book in advance if you’d like to have the dry-aged duck!
If you come here for breakfast, get the Pav Lova French toast! 🍓

Great ambience, fantastic drinks and food (must try the duck) and lovely service, all at reasonable prices. Can't wait to go back!

Amazing restaurant! From service, decor, and of course the food. Would highly recommend checking La Madonna out.

Had an amazing dining sesh at La Madonna - highly recommended and will definitely come back for more. Highlights for me were the Cavatelli black sesame king prawns (intense prawn flavour - to die for); Kingfish crudo and the Bistecca. They've really nailed the interiors and the vibe too. Just mature and classy ambiance without trying too hard.
K. B.
We drank in the bar only. Their cocktails were Devine, just amazing. Probably the best cocktails I've had in the city to date. An amazing negroni, sezarac, daiquiri, El Diablo, old fashioned, all sooo good. All about the booze and not the "showy no substance cocktails" like in many other cocktail Bars in the city. Definitely on the more pricy side of the cocktail spectrum. Ranges between $22-25, but are definitely worth it. Get in quick before this places becomes too popular

Went for dinner last night and what a meal.

Great food, very different flavour combinations that were lovely. Very small portion sizes though, my husband would have walked out hungry after three courses if he ate there.

Really enjoyed this restaurant. The prawn tartare was beyond amazing. Fig cappacio was very fresh and unique. The bread and oil with seaweed was addictive. The cauliflower with the strange sauce 😂 was off the charts. We really enjoyed everything. Lamb ribs, & their version of caprese was excellent. Service was faultless. French fries & the sides were also great. Def come here, book ahead. My only suggestion would be a larger choice of mains on the menu.
