Absolutely loved this pub. The food was delish. We went there on a Monday, rebooked for Thursday and Easter Sunday. The kids kept talking about it all day Thursday looking forward to going and what they were going to order. The service was great too and just overall good vibe. We're going to miss it.

Amazing food and service. The menu is extensive. Very affordable and plenty of gluten free options. The lamb cutlets were perfect, we added 3 extra cutlets and shared with the whole family. There is a huge beer garden outside and really nice fine dining room inside. Staff were very helpful.

I drove out to Marong to collect some farming equipment and was absolutely stoked to come across the MFH. Such a beautiful atmosphere, out door sitting area with heating for the cooler nights. Full bistro and bar at great prices. The Chef was amazing and went absolutely above and beyond to cater my order so quickly yet perfectly. It almost looked too good to eat. I got the roast. The meat was so tender and the vegetables cooked to perfection. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. I’d return on my next trip and trips after that. I highly recommend MFH to anyone who hasn’t tried their buffet menu or dinner menu to give them a go and support them during this pandemic. They have an amazing selection of meals and starters. Quite pricey. You'd be best booking on a non busy weekend, we could barely hear ourselves as the venue was full& quite loud. Overall everyone enjoyed their meal, had a slight issue which was attended to immediately which was lovely. Really friendly staff, clean place.

Service was extremely prompt and friendly, I swear it took 10 minutes for our meal to arrive despite they appeared to have a function in the beer garden. The menu was quite comprehensive and I'm looking forward to returning.

Outdoor area was lovely - spacious and room for the toddler to run around. The food was delicious, especially the desserts. The only negative was that our food took about 45 minutes to arrive, which wasn't the best when we arrived early enough to get the kids home to bed in time.

The food is delicious but considering the place was full, i would say the management need to focus a bit more on their staff numbers and getting the right amount of staff to serve customers. There was one guy on run off his feet with no help and was doing everything. Its not the guys fault but managements fault. Our dessert took double the time to arrive compared to our meals.

Called in, in February on my way up north. Publican very hospitable. Place got a great ambiance to it during the day. He recommended having a meal but I was in a hurry said I would call in again down the track. Called in on a Sunday night late June. Place was was warm & cosy, correct lighting and background music. Great vibe. The publican was right, the food and wine selection is superb. Fully recommend calling in.

FIVE STAR ALL THE WAY! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ For a last minute, late family tea at the pub the meals, service and overall vibe was amazing. Genuinely friendly staff, quick to accommodate our family and absolutely fabulous food! Excellent kids menu, fresh produce, great range of traditional faves and new additions including a specials board that delivers! We'll definitely be back!! 😀😀😀

Good food, great atmosphere, fair prices. If you're looking for a gut busting experience, this place is not for you. The meals here are a good size but not overly large. You won't walk out hungry, but you won't walk out wishing you had worn your stretchy pants either.

A great place for the family night out. Welcoming fire glowing in the Dining room. Had a Brookes Pale ale at $7.50. A little inflated for my tastes, but more than made up by the outstanding meal of Pork Belly with Asian vegetables at $25.50. Enjoyed every bite. We had lunch in the bistro. It was mid week and quiet. Lamb is the speciality and we ordered the roast lamb and the open lamb souvlaki. The lamb is slow cooked overnight. Both meals were generous in size and could not be faulted. The lamb was tender and sweet. Ambience is excellent. The owner greeted us and was very friendly. Wine list is focused on local wines including their own family winery. All wines were very reasonably priced in comparison to city prices. Loved it and will be back.

Visited Marong Family Hotel for family get together today . Such a completely enjoyable experience from moment we entered the Hotel . We were ushered to a lovely spot in the dining room beside an inviting wood fire . Family included a 2 year old who was promptly seated in a high chair and given crayons and booklet to keep her occupied . Service was prompt , and the delicious food all came out together . My husband chose the chicken pie with mash and roasted root vegetables . Attractively served and sooooo yum !! I chose the roast sweet potato stuffed with chick peas , capsicum and coriander served with a delicious garlic yoghurt. Again ... yum !! My only complaint .. I planned to have the lemon curd tart with strawberry and cream, but the delicious main left me with no room for this treat . Oh well , hopefully still on the menu next time we visit . Speaking of menus .. often when I visit restaurants , there are only several dishes that appeal , but Marong Family Hotel’s menu is extensive and varied . Well done Staff . We’ll be back .!!

Monday night heading back to geelong not expecting to find any hotels of such quality . Walked in the door to a lovely friendly welcome from bar staff and waitress , wood heater and quiet a few people for a Monday night says it all .Service and menu were spot on . Great country pub . Well done Marong Family Hotel . Meal was beautiful also local red wine was great quality so purchased bottles of Connors park Shiraz . We will be back and highly recommend this hotel . Marong is about a 15 minute drive from Bendigo. This colonial era pub is worth it. The same owners also make high quality wine and the pub can act as a cellar door. Alternatively you can just buy wine from the bar to supplement the excellent extensive menu offerings.

As much as the Marong Family Hotel puts up a great meal, I can't help but cringe every time someone suggests dining there. The locals are the biggest red-necks getting around. Every time I've been here the local men have been extremely loud, obnoxious and downright offensive. I have never once heard staff pull patrons into line and because of this they have unfortunately lost me as a customer.

We go the Marong hotel as a support group and have found the food to be mostly disappointing - my schnitzel was overcooked and another person had scalloped potato and sauteed vegetables - both undercooked we love the ambience and the service but I think management should look into what comes out of the kitchen - mainly check that vegies are cooked !
