Had the Maiden mood set meal with 6 friends. You all need to order the meal or no one can have it. Burnt ends were delicious. We added lobster Mac and cheese which was rich and creamy. The brisket was a little disappointing but the steak was cooked to perfection and juicy.

Great service and friendly staff!
The Dry-Aged O’Connor Rib Eye was our favourite as it had so much flavour and was cooked to perfection.
My partner and I assumed the sauces would be on the side however when they were brought to our table, they were on the steaks instead. In saying that, unfortunately the three pepper sauce was far too overpowering to actually taste the Sher Wagyu Rump.
Overall, great experience and will definitely be back!

Excellent service. The food was amazing as were drinks and staff were on hand to ensure your water was topped up.
Wagyu rump was cooked to my liking, medium as per the chefs recommendations and was perfect, juicy and had a nice crust.
The signature lobster Mac and cheese was brilliant….I can see why it’s the signature, probably the best Mac and cheese I’ve had.
Even if you don’t like seafood, try it. It’s not “lobster” heavy but as a bisque it adds an amazing flavour to the dish.

Amazing Lobster Mac & Cheese
I’m surprised at how delish the Lobster Mac & Cheese. Every single bite leaves you wanting more, a must have when you visit the restaurant.
The steak selection is a bit limited. Not impressed by the quality of the marbling score and the best cut is the Fillet Mignon. The cook is perfect and the service is amazing too.

We couldn’t fault any dish that we ordered and felt the hefty price tag was absolutely worth it for the quality, flavours and portions.
The mac + cheese and the eye fillets were particularly memorable and could not recommend them more.
We ordered:
🥩 Westholme wagyu rump w/ garlic & thyme jus
🥩 O’connor porterhouse on bone w/ wild mushroom sauce
🥩 Southern ranges eye fillet w/ three pepper sauce
🥩 Southern ranges eye fillet w/ garlic & thyme jus
🦞 Lobster mac cheese, bisque
🍴Scallops, pork belly, miso pumpkin caramel
🦐 Chargrilled skull island prawns, smoked teriyaki
🍟 Hand-cut chips, confit garlic aioli
The flavours were impeccable in every dish. If you’re worried the food won’t be worth the price - I can assure you it is. Reserve a table ahead of time because they’re always booked out and for good reason
M. B.
Love the vibe, great menu, service good. Only downside was I ordered medium rare for my rib eye and my partners rump, the waitress said she wouldn’t do less than medium. Found that odd and then the steak came out a bit charred on the outside for my liking. You can even see the difference in char between the two steaks, both medium. Lobster Mac and cheese divine. Overall good but strange when paying $55+ for a steak that you can’t have medium rare.

Best place for steak. The menu changes regularly but the steak is always good. I wouldn't recommend getting too big a steak as I find the larger steaks are often cooked unevenly. Not a fan of the smoked meats either as the ones I've tried were dry. I suggest asking for the steak to be sliced for sharing so that you can try more dishes as they always sound good. The lobster mac n cheese is pricey but the portion is large for a side dish, and the flavours are there. AND it comes with extra sauce. They also make a pretty good Amaretto Sour, if you're into that.
S. T.
One of the best places to have a steak in Melbourne. Great vibe, good ambiance. Friendly and attentive staff
Steak tartare and the pepper corn jus is the best I’ve had in Australia, definitely must try
N. L.
The last supper again? Dinner before the lockdown #5. Lively underground prohibition style restaurant with the best brisket EVER, get the brisket!!!
We opt'd for Maidens-mood which included 3 starters, 2 mains and 3 sides. We added the extra to get the lobster Mac and cheese as well as the shaved truffle.
Cocktails were amazing, esp the pisco disco. Every dish was outstanding except for the steak which was tough and dry, bit disappointed... The brisket, did I say get the brisket? It just melts in your mouth, done to perfection. We probably wouldn't order the lobster Mac and cheese next time as personally found it a tad sweet. The side chips, if you like it chunky this place is your calling.
Overall, loved this place, we will be back...

First time eating here for both my wife and I. Atmosphere was very modern and loved the soundtrack. Service was great the waiter was attentive to my wife's diet considering she was pregnant and offered alternatives to what we had ordered and the food..... so delicious and looked amazing. Thank you for making date night so enjoyable for us! We will definitely be back!
M. H.
Excellent!
The lobster Mac and cheese is really special, I love how generous they are in both size of the meal as well as the quantity of lobster on it.
My partner said it was the best Mac and cheese he ever had in his life, so definitely a big statement here.
Steak was also excellent, perfectly cooked.
The octopus was a bit too spicy for me, but this is a pretence thing.
The burnt bits also a very good call.
R. B.
My partner took me to Meatmaiden as a birthday present and it was a great experience. The food was incredible, the wait staff were attentive and the service was next level. We got the 20hr smoked brisket as a main, it literally fell apart! The rum BBQ sauce was to die for! As an entree the burnt ends were immaculate, our sides - Mac and cheese and chips were in no way ordinary, simple dishes done really well! This was a dinner to be eaten slowly, so that every bite could be enjoyed and appreciated, and wow it really was! Thank you to the manager and staff who made our dinner special and memorable.
W. W.
Amazing Food, meat was cooked right and the drink selection was vast! will happily eat here again
S. M.
I can not recommend this restaurant enough.
Excellent meal, it is hard to describe.
It is the best brisket I have had in Melbourne, the meat would fall apart when putting your fork into it the knife was not needed. Paired with an excellent Mac and cheese and chips that genuinely make you think “wow they are the best chips”.
As for the service the waiting staff were friendly and polite. It was also great to see the manager going around waiting, cleaning and asking about your experience. It is definitely the small things that matter and this restaurant ticks all of the boxes.
E. W.
Visited the Meatmaiden for my birthday dinner yesterday. Very busy and bustling, can get very loud! The service was good, and we ordered the Teriyaki Prawns, 20hr Brisket, 4+ score Eye Fillet and the Charted greens, all really exceptional. My personal favourite was the Brisket and that BBQ sauce, WOW. Definitely will be back.
P. N.
A quality meal awaits you here!
My dining partner and I had the Maiden's Mood (Feed me) menu and everything was impeccable.
From the wagyu tartare to the smoked brisket, I was left very satisfied.
The only minor criticism is that the service was a tad unattentive but considering the dimly/mood lit environment it was reasonable.
B. S.
Had a great meal out here at Meatmaiden.
Finding the place was a little tricky! Google maps tells you to enter via Collins st, but the entry is from Little Collins, right after Wilson Parking.
A little quiet due to covid no doubt, but we were served very promptly and attended to by attentive and friendly staff. Always came round to top our water off, so service was pretty good.
The food. This is where the one star comes off. We loved the entrees and the side of lobster Mac and cheese (it is big! Enough to be a main for a small eater). The mains steaks however were a little bit of a letdown.
I ordered the Dry Aged O'Connor rib off the bone (400g) and my wife ordered the Master Kobe Rump 9+. The rump was better, and slightly more charred which we like. The pepper sauce went better than the garlic and thyme. Although, in my mind it's a bit of a knock that I enjoyed the steak more with sauce than by itself. I've been to other places where the meat itself is sufficiently full of flavour, and no sauces required!
The medium rare cooking was top notch and even all throughout the steaks so no problems there. The flavour was very even, but not bursting with flavour as I'm used to with a more marbled steak.
The entrees were excellent. The stuffed chicken wings were a nice surprise! No bone in the top section. We discussed how they could've made it like that. Very nice, with a peppery coating mixed with a tomato relish sauce. And the burnt ends (the end of a beef brisket) was really nice. A dark kind of bbq sauce, onions, and the meat had a crunch but was also quite stringy which you'd expect. A bit tough and if you hate tough meat, maybe stay away from this one. But we loved it.
And the lobster Mac. The most expensive side by far but worth it. A Mac and cheese with lobster pieces mixed throughout, and a lobster bisque sauce to pour all over it. Seriously good!
We ordered too much for 2! But we're not big eaters. Hope you'll enjoy yourself there.
A. K.
This place was absolutely divine! Exceeded an already incredibly high expectation & I can’t wait to come back
We loved it so much, we ended up ordering 2 additional dishes to cap the night off (and they ended up being my favorite dishes!)
STARTERS
- Prawn sandwich
- Scallop & Pork Belly skewer
- Octopus (recommended by the waitress and oh my lord, so good)
- Beef tartare (hands down the best dish. I walked in never thinking I would like, let alone love, a tartare dish. A must try!!!)
MAINS
- Eye fillet - our favorite cut! Beautifully cooked
- Onyx
SIDES
- Cauliflower (probably the only one I’d give a miss, but a nice side)
- Mac & cheese (pretty good, but I’d definitely go back to try the lobster Mac & cheese next time instead!)
DESSERT
- cookie & peanut butter. Wowwwwww we were so full but so glad we tried this!
S. R.
Rib eye w three pepper sauce - Eye fillet w wild mushroom sauce - Mac and cheese - Charred greens - Hand cut chips - Stuffed chicken wings - Milk chocolate cookie w peanut butter icecream
This is a MUST try restaurant if you are a steak lover, and my #1 pick in Melbourne. First impressions were amazing with a basement setting, neon lights and moody dark lighting. Service is impeccable and personable. The steaks were so perfectly cooked and full of flavour, as was every single dish we ordered. I dream about that cookie. Get everything!!!
⭐️ 5/5
A. L.
The entrees were great especially the scallops and smoked pork belly and miso pumpkin was absolutely delicious.
Was slightly disappointed in the steak considering the price, asked for medium rare but came out more well done probably from the steak sitting around too long after and continuing to cook.
The venue is amazing and great atmosphere but the service was really bad and disappointing as I was really looking forward and booked far in advance for a birthday. Had to ask several times for our drinks and then after waiting so long realising they forgot our drinks order entirely. Had to ask a few times to different staff members just for water as well, then found the female waitresses fairly rude. Man at door was polite.
N. K.
Best place I have been so far for steak. The food was amazing and the steak has no words to express.
F. Q.
We went to Meat Maiden on 24th April for our ✨ Saturday Date Night ✨ and these are what we ordered:
🐙 Grilled Octopus, Charred Lime & Potato Aioli - SO FREAKING GOOD!! Packed full with the umami flavor with a bit of kick to it. Great texture for the octopus.
🍗 Stuffed Chicken Wings, Togarashi, Spiced Tomato - Don’t let the simplicity fool you, this dish is full of Japanese-inspired flavor! We didn’t get how the wings looked like real wings as the top part didn’t have a bone at all 😂
🥩 Dry-Aged Rib Eye - We went for the 800g to share between both of us with mushroom sauce on top. The steak was perfectly cooked and tasty, however we felt that it needed something more to make it taste “wow” if you get me? 😂 for $120 it’s a bit underwhelming.
🦞🫕 Lobster Mac & Cheese, Shellfish Bisque - If it weren’t for this dish, we couldn’t get through the steak easily! These two combined was like a match made in (seafood) heaven 😍 They were generous with the lobster pieces inside the mac & cheese too.
Interestingly, the place was a bit too crowded for a vibe that they’re going with. My bf said it was confusing on how everything looked so nice and fancy yet the vibe was more like a pub with the noisiness of the place 😂
Overall, it was a great experience with tasty food, friendly staff and interesting vibe.
W. C.
It’s a wonderful night at meat maiden. The foods all yummy and the service is really welcoming.
G. D.
Fantastic food, I’ve been to most smokehouses and their brisket is hands down the best. The set menu is the way to go, lots of food and you get to try everything. Pork head croquettes were also a standout along with there cocktails. Highly recommend and would come back.
M. P.
Awesome sleak bbq joint in the city that does a tasty cocktail.
B. J.
Staff here are lovely and attentive. The menu has changed considerably, and the prices are significantly higher. The meat options are still fantastic, and I’d go back here, but for special occasions only.
Z. Z.
Absolutely loved this place. Steak was cooked to perfection, chicken melted in your mouth and the kids loved the mac and cheese. The best part of the night was the Chocolate chip cookie with peanut butter icecream which came out sizzling hot on a pan.
L. Y.
Tartare and grilled octopus were my favourites! Sauces that accompanied the mains were too sweet for my preference.
Skip the sundae.
U. F.
We've been there a couple of times and had the Feed me menu. Very good selection.
Due to the lockdown, we opted for the Delivery Steak and Lobster menu. High quality of the products.
N. P.
First of all, the food was fantastic. Loved every bit of it. Staff were absolutely supportive, friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes. Environment is romantic and inviting to dine with nice table arrangements and dim lights. Location was awesome as if you are dining in an old wine cellar.
A. B.
Never a bad experience at Meatmaiden, we've tried almost all the sides and love them all. Shared a large steak and had the mocktails. Loved it! Will be back
E. Z.
Went to Meatmaiden on Little Collins St in Melbourne CBD last night and was absolutely blown away!!!
To start with the atmosphere was very mysterious.
The staff were extremely friendly & accommodating.
The BEST part of course was the food...we tried the Scallops with Pork Belly and Kombu Butter, the Black Market Brisket, the Wagyu Kobe Rump & the Lobster Mac n Cheese. Everything was amazing but the absolute star of the show was the brisket! It was melt in your mouth type of brisket...it was seasoned well and cooked to perfection!!!
The drinks were also great.. we tried their Espresso Martinis, SA Pinot Noir and Kölsch beer. All were delicious but the Pinot Noir was the stand out due to how smooth it was.
Had such an amazing food experience last night & can't wait to go back and try more of their menu. Do yourself a favour and try Meatmaiden!
M. N.
Overall everything was really good. The steak tartare was out of this world as was the lobster Mac and cheese. My partner ordered the brisket and it came out luke warm. Not sure if it was meant to be like that. I had the porterhouse and it was good, a few gristle bits but I can deal with that. I’m not sure I would order it again if I’m honest. I would have liked a bit more sauce. We were sat at the bar and I have to say, those chairs are not designed for larger people. They were so uncomfortable. Which kind of ruined the vibe of the night. But overall the food was good and the music was 10/10!
J. T.
Booked a table for Friday night, very easy to book and had a follow up text too which was helpful.
We ordered the maidens mood which was great for two people that couldn't decide between all the delicious choices. The atmosphere was fantastic and the waiters were very friendly.
The food was amazing and everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. We will be returning and bringing friends to enjoy the fantastic experience!
R.
This place is amazing. The food and service is all you could ask for and more. The Maiden's Mood option of 8 random dishes is fantastic. The variety is great and the portions generous. The brisket and wagyu steak is next level and the lobster Mac and cheese is a life changer. The atmosphere is contemporary and cool with bar staff that are on point. If the owner is reading this, please come to Sydney!
D.
Very attentive and courteous staff. Relaxed, not rushed at all. We booked same day and they accommodated us no problems. Full bar - nice selection of cocktails. Desert cocktails also available.
Will definitely come again for the smoked brisket!
E. H.
Outstanding meal. Every dish was a 10/10, cooked beautifully with great portion sizes. The service and atmosphere was fantastic. Highly recommend for a celebration or for when you just want to treat yourself. The octopus, lobster mac and cheese and eye fillet were stand outs. As were the two deserts - creme caramel and giant freshly cooked cookie.
V. C.
Loved the grilled octopus entre, brisket and lobster mac and cheese! Place was a little dim and loud though. But otherwise still had a great feed!
G. R.
The moment you arrive, you think you are in the Movie Blade, with "Wesley Snipes"
You walk down a metal stairwell, not knowing what to expect.
Then all of a sudden your in this cool happening restaurant, with some of the most amazing mouth watering choices of meat.
Warning to any Vegans! STAND CLEAR 😆
Ok, I lied veggies to make everybody happy! Ole!
R. W.
Thanks very much to Poppy, Simon, Julian and the team for one of the best experiences I have had in a restaurant. Given that you all were run off your feet you displayed true professionalism which I appreciate probably more than most.
Food was amazing and the tartare was the best start to our dining experience, followed by pressed rib roll, octopus and burnt ends. For our main we both had the southern ranges eye fillet which was cooked perfectly and matched it with their Pinot Noir.
Thanks team and keep up the great work you all are doing 🙏
D. S.
The themed cocktails were delicious, the food was magnificent, and the staff were friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable about their food and drinks.
They had a great selection of steak on offer, and the 5 they served our table were cooked perfectly. When we ordered sides, our waitress made a suggestion to order sides to share amongst us all, and that was perfect. The desserts were all the perfect end to a wonderful meal.
I will definitely be going here again next time I'm in Melbourne. Hell, I'll go to Melbourne just to go back here.
C. R.
Ben was great. Very informative and helpful with allergies. Lobster Mac was just unreal. Meat was a bit fatty though
J. M.
Walking down the stairs and into Meatmaiden we were loving the atmosphere and smoky smells right away. We couldn't decide what to order so we opted for The Maiden's Mood (chef's choice), and it didn't disappoint! We especially loved the burnt ends and croquettes, but everything was outstanding from the service to the cocktails and food. Highly recommend for meat lovers!
M. ..
Food simply outstanding. Service impeccable. Treat yourself and go there just once for the experience. Just not the same week that your mortgage comes out.
K. H.
Had the maiden's mood chef's tasting menu Meatmaiden. Some hits and misses but overall it was very good. Almost too much food though. Burnt ends, wagyu and chicken were clear winners. Cocktails were great too. It was very loud though which took away a point, hard to talk or think.
P. S.
I love this place. Its not the easiest to find (do you go upstairs or down - hint: go down), but the rewards are amazing smoky meats that you just want more of. This is not the place to order a side salad.
The wine selection is good, the staff are really helpful and do seem to love their job. The cocktails are not that innovative, but the ones they have are great.
The must have are the burnt ends to start with the saltbush lamb shoulder to follow and the appropriate side is the mac and cheese with lobster... but "The Maiden's Mood" tasting menu is the way to go you get to sample the best of everything!
This is not a "first date" place when you don't know if your date is going to enjoy a protein focused meal - I don't remember any vegetarian options on the menu!
S.
I really wanted to try some Aussie steak so I was really excited for this but it turned out to be a total letdown. The service was quick and had answers for all our questions about the menu. The food on the other hand was disappointing. The steak itself was hard to chew and not as juicy and flavourful as described. The tartare was oversalted. The lobster mac and cheese was probably the best thing that we had that night. It had a good amount of lobster throughout and you could also taste it on the pasta.
C. M.
Stayed in Melbourne for a week and went there almost every night, it's a meat lovers heaven and the staff were all amazing, as well as the for brewing out of this world.
If I could design my own perfect restaurant, it would look a lot like Meat Maiden.
A. &. R. L.
Great service and amazing food. I love how creative they are with using food in a delicious way with minimal waste eg. Bone marrow to flavour vegetables.
S. o.
First time ever ordering a steak anywhere really. I mean why order something you can cook at home right? Had the 50$ steak mushroom sauce and gotta sat it was frickkin Devine. Would go back 100 % for that alone. Staff aplenty a buzz in the place and great food, what more do you want???
R. P.
Amazing quality of meat. The eye fillet is so tender (so far this is the best steak I have had) and our all time favourite. Lobster Mac and cheese, oh my! It's delicious and such big portion. The waiters are all amazing and super friendly. Always a good choice and never disappointed.
M. G.
Not noticable...coz the signboard is very small, mostly regulars jam-pack the place. Very cozy ambience at the basement. Nice simple deco...but...the steak is awesome...the medium rare is perfect....must try the 1.2kg...so juicy and tender...starters are special...steak sauces r special too, pretty much their own recipe. MUST TRY
V. M. A.
Perfect for meat lovers. All the dishes were amazing. The brisket was our favorite... Great service. Very busy, so you must book.
The service and environment is great.
C. C.
Par Excellence!
Mains - Wagyu Medium served was super & the Roasted Pork Belly as Starters is served accompanied with Pineapple Nuts sauce ..... Dessert of Sorbeto & Chocolate pralines, Creme Brulee & Martini cocktails 🍸 is Great ending for dinner 🥘
s. g.
One of the best BBQ resturant in CBD, absolutely love it,
Staff are so friendly, food are so tasty and savory,
I really like smoked slow cooked meats such as brisket and pork belly.
Good for a team meeting. They have a lot of table, remember book a table always it is usually crowded, especially in arvos.
It's kind of pricy but worth it and should try it.
They have express menu for lunch which cost 30 $ include entré , main , chips or salad and booze. Try their end burn bun which is my favorite 👏👏👏
The food size is just right, but if you want to eat alot and pay less this is not right resturant for you.
Resturant design is perfect.
Overall, i really enjoying my time over here.
C. (.
If you love a good steak, you've come to the right place
E. t.
we got the feed me menu and it was soooo good! incredibly happy with the food, service was amazing all staff were super friendly and cocktails were spot on! will go back when ever i get the chance
R. C.
Awesome resturant great food, atmosphere and cocktails. Lobster Mac n Cheese and the Burnt ends were amazing.
S. T.
Bring a couple of mates and jump in the cosy booths for a great dinner and atmosphere. Basement vibes. Little on the pricey end but quality food will be on display.
A. M.
Awesome family night out !!! Great venue with such a great atmosphere. Service was friendly and efficient, staff had excellent knowledge of menu. The food and drinks were just totally amazing !!! Well done Meatmaiden staff !!!
S. P.
Fantastic food, service and atmosphere.
Want dry aged steak ? This is one of the best places for it. A+
I. M.
Excellent briskett and short ribs. All dishes were tasty and filling also reasonably priced, definitely recommend if your keen to try some smokey goodness.
J. W.
Everything was delicious though burnt ends had some pieces that were quite dry while other pieces were amazingly juicy.
Steak was perfect I forgot to try the sauce but it was small and pricey.
G. L.
My girlfriend and I had the chefs menu. But should've gone for ala carte.
3 entrees, 3mains, 3 sides.
Entree: Loved the wagyu tartare for entree, not terribly keen on the rest of the entree (seafood croquettes and pork strips)
Mains: could've been their wagyu 5 (couldn't decide if it was porterhouse or wagyu, but was tender enough). Silverside with pickled cucumber and onion. Woodfired chicken was good.
Sides: rosemary chips (awesome).
Small bowl of salad leaves (nice dressing)
Dry bits of pork (not bad)
S. C.
Great spot for a team lunch or any other gathering. Food was terrific, wasn't a long wait. Just make sure to book in advance and bring a big appetite.
x. x.
I've sat here staring at my phone screen in a blissful food coma for roughly 25min trying to find some way with words to do justice to how good the food was here and I just can't. Cocktail and beer range was also top notch too.
Just go. Do the chef special for a table of 2-4 and pick a good drink, and just treasure the sheer decadence of flavour and meat quality.
A. M.
Such a wonderful experience. The food was perfect, especially the brisket, it fell apart. The service was very good, the Brazilian waitress was a lovely. Super cozy environment! I will definitely recommend this place and we will come back soon!
M. K.
We had the shared platter and added on the lobster Mac and cheese. I loved it all but it was a bit too ‘meaty’ (who would have guessed) for my wife
T. N.
Dry aged Rib eye steak cooked to perfection. Mac and cheese lobster was phenomenon. Lovely service too.
W. T.
Food was delicious. Highlight of the meal for me by far was the brisket. Just fantastic. Drinks options are plentiful and suit what your eating. Just be prepared if in a group to spend some time sorting out individual cost. As there is only table service no bar service which was rather dissatisfying.
S. L.
Great service but food was average for me. We have order 3 starter and 2 main . The scallop eggplant skewer was good, following the burnt end was good but very strong favour, for me was a bit too salty. Brisket was great too but the one that I was looking forward all night ..,,, We have ordered a a7 WAGYU steak, i was quite disappointed on it as it’s $80 steak but the taste and quality I think it was just average, not really happy about that.
The seating is a bit too tight between table, hardly can walk pass and very noisy environment . Don’t think I’ll come back again tho .
B. R.
Quite pricey but you get what you pay for in terms of service and lovely cooked food esp juicy meats! Definitely would come back. Mac and cheese expensive but so so tasty, must try :D
B. s.
A semi hidden restaurant down below the street level. A non threatening masculine atmosphere within the dining space with delicate touches and intimate vibe. Creepy subway like corridors to the bathrooms and into the venue.
Service was attentive and friendly with a great memory. Very satisfied with our host for the evening.
Food was top level. Definitely on the pricey side but you generally get what you pay for. Bill came to $100 a head on average. $700 for 7 people which included various drinks, 2 bottles of $60 red wine, starters, mains and sides.
Would happily return and recommended to others. Great for groups and couples.
N. L.
Great underground setting, not the greatest variety of wine and the menu was a bit bland, with not many options of meat for a steak house. I'll keep searching for the best steaks in Melbourne 🥩
A. W.
My partner and I came in for an early dinner and opted for the Maiden's Mood option - really nice variety of dishes from the menu. The meat was delicious and really well cooked and the Mac & cheese was excellent! The cocktails were fantastic and the staff were really lovely and accommodating. The restaurant filled up quickly (not surprising for a Saturday night) so would recommend booking!
M. O.
Awesome meats. Totally worth every fibre swallowed down. Fancy drinks and side pairings too. Enjoy!
J. M.
This place is one of the best in Melbourne, unassuming and unnoticeable but the food is phenomenal, great selection of drinks, awesome vibe. I have been going here for almost 5 years, consistent.
I.
Reservations recommend as this place is packed - even on weekdays. Pricey, but the food exceeded my expectations and the hype. Great food, excellent service and unique drinks. The pork sliders are outstanding.
K. E.
Food was on point. From starters to the steak- delicious. Octopus was one of the best I’ve had. Steak cooked to perfection. The staff was great. Found out later they were down two people but you would not have known. At first I was overwhelmed by the “scene” environment but once we settled in it was worth it. Highly recommend good people good food.
D.
Great atmosphere and service. Steak was excellent as were the sides
S. S.
I rarely say this but Meatmaiden is AN ABSOLUTE MUST. Excellent experience. Impeccable, friendly, knowledgeable service that were more than happy to accommodate very specific dietary requirements for one person in our party. The staff are really on the ball. The food was beautifully cooked with a complex yet simple mixture of flavours. Ditto for the cocktails (try the Smoked Old Fashioned to finish). Warm atmosphere with an interesting entrance. Prices are a bit high but totally worth it. Meatmaiden is now a mandatory requirement every time I holiday in Melbourne.
V. P.
Great steaks, can be a bit noisy especially on Friday nights. Normal prices very good meat, excellent sides and a good atmosphere
P. F.
Delicious steak cooked to perfection medium rare, melt in your mouth, great service and great atmosphere
G. C.
I normally feel underwhelmed by steaks at pubs and restaurants (I bbq a mean steak at home and have my technique down). Damn, their steak was awesome. Great service and sides too. highly recommend a visit for all you carnivores out there.
r. l.
Holy balls. This place is great. The lunch special is superb value and the staff are friendly. Food is absolutely top notch. Highly recommend if you're a bit high brow but also love a bit of 'murican BBQ!
R. V. K.
Entrees were amazing, main course didn't pack as much punch, a little disappointed, good service though!
K. A.
We went to Meatmaiden on a Saturday night and the menu looked so amazing we couldn’t make up our minds - so we went with their Maiden’s Mood menu. They kept bringing out dish after amazing dish. I can HIGHLY recommend the brisket (melt-in-your-mouth) and the lobster Mac and cheese. I tried my first oyster and that didn’t disappoint.
My vegetarian daughter was also delighted with her a la carte choices - the whipped smoked eggplant with potato bread was particularly delicious.
The recommendation of which wine to accompany the meal was superb but most of all the staff were nothing short of lovely, knowledgeable and helpful. We’re already planning our next visit.

Steak tartare is tasty. Bar stools are very uncomfortable as the footrest is too low for support.
C. M.
I can't even put into words how much I enjoyed my meal, it was amazing.
Take someone you love and get the "maidens mood" to share, I guarantee you won't be disappointed, and you definitely won't leave hungry!
S. P.
Ordered the banquet (whatever its called) with some upgrades and everything was amazing. Not the cheapest feed but worth it as a treat.
B. K.
The food is great, really well cooked steak, the drinks are ticking that box and the service is great. I would say it makes sense to get some wifi as the restaurant is in a basement and as a business traveler it's good to be able to finish up on emails while I'm eating or waiting for my meal. But that's my only complaint.
K. D.
I've eaten here just twice now but I will definitely be back. The food is expectational (the brisket just melts in the mouth and they are more than happy to cater for dietary requirements), the cocktails are perfect (I recommend the char-garita) and the staff are friendly, efficient and accommodating. If you love great food, delicious drinks and brilliant service then you need to come to Meatmaiden, you won't be disappointed.
C. V.
Had the high top menu for 6 men and 2 women. We were served 3 entrees 2 mains and 3 sides. Would have liked only 2 entrees and finished with a dessert. Only serve filtered coffee. The only place I’ve been to that doesn’t do cappuccinos. What a shame. The food was nice and the girls serving us were very well informed about the menu and very efficient with the service.5 stars for the girls.
M. N.
Cool space, tasty Americana grub, good beers in tap, novel cocktails. Very enjoyable.
A.
Great BBQ food, a little on the pricey side. But hey, it's the city, everything has that city price premium.
N. R. H.
Delicious and fun dining experience with chef's choice menu.
F. A.
Yeeeeep gotta have the mac and cheese! We loved our wagyu steaks and the mocktails.
s. b.
Best place so far for tender meat. Great ambience and awesomefood. Burntends are must try
G.
Really good steak and nice ambient. The dry aged porterhouse is the one to try. Another friend had the brisket and it was melting on the mouth. The entrance is a bit confusing as you have stairs going up or down and is not clearly indicated.
A. C.
Always a delicious experience. The Kobe rump was fantastic and perfectly seasoned. I prefer the regular Mac and cheese over the lobster one even though I love lobster.
R. B.
I enjoyed a nice meal and good wine here. It was busy even on a Monday night, but I got a table without reservation, no problem.
Make sure you bring a good appetite, the portions are generous.
J. M.
Good but a long way from being great! Dark, dingy and a little loud!! Food okay but steak very overpriced. Don't think I would go again tbh..
K. M.
Very great 👍 🥩 steakhouse,great atmosphere 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
K. R.
Loved the experience here, been for a Christmas party and opted for veg, was not disappointed
Y. M.
I did have a good time, but it's Just not good enough for the price.
Not the service and not the food
M. E.
If you are looking for a steak house, meat maiden is certainly amongst the top tier offerings. Food was absolutely delicious!!! The mushroom sauce was perfect, fries yummy and although on the higher price spectrum... The meat was phenomenal 🤩. Will be back...for sure!
J. Y.
Came here with my wife for a lunch. We walked along and missed the entrance. All good though once we arrived downstairs.
Nice decor and settings. The waiter was super friendly. The food was delicious...needless to say that it is definitely not a place for vegetarians.
Will come back again for sure.
N. L. (.
The order was taken by a maiden who made our experience really cool. Aged beef was really excellent and with correct doneness. Will come again.
D. P.
Amazing food. Great atmosphere. Great service! Will return!
L. K.
My group went to Meatmaiden for my birthday last week, we absolutely loved it! The food was incredible, the service was warm and friendly, great cocktails and wine. 100% will be back soon.
M. M.
Professional team, who held high spirits on the last night of eating out before COVID shut down.
Food was delicious, wine list is a bit over the top in terms of pricing. We told ourselves it was to assist with margin losses due to COVID headspace restrictions. Hopefully a short term problem that they will overcome in the near future.
L. H.
Went there for a friend‘s birthday as a vegetarian and OMG was the food amazing. I definitely didn’t miss out and went home extremely full and satisfied. I’ll certainly go back there!
P. A.
Very different but very nice
The Mac and cheese is amazing
Well worth a visit
J. H.
Had an amazinggg anniversary dinner here recently. Evelyn and Bruna took great care of us and make some great suggestions including the scallops, lobster mac and cheese, and the cookie. We'll be back for more!
G. W.
Love this place and always recommend to friends and work colleagues visiting Melbourne, food is amazing and I always end up eating far too much. Wines pair beautifully with food, great atmosphere in an equally funky spot!
T. E.
Great venue, lots of character. Ribs were amazing, fell off the bone. Staff were friendly and attentive.
P. M.
Awesome feast. Really good feed me menu. So filling. Had fun!! Recommend!
M. P.
Superb steaks, briskets that melt in your mouth. Sides were meh, especially fries.
Only downside is the atmosphere. It's too loud. Music starts loud then people shout to talk over it, and finally music is shut but people are still shouting.
R. N.
Great steak, for entree had a chicken croquet and pressed pork, they both were super good, steak was so tender with that amazing onion jus
Xpress lunch menu is a value with the food and drink you get
You get entree, main, salad or fries and drink for $30
D. V.
I've been here before and it's always been really good, except for last time. The pig head appetiser tasted like cheeseballs, the brisket could have been more tender, and worst of all the 800 gram ribeye, ordered medium rare, was charred on the ends and still blue rare in the middle. It wasn't salted as well as usual either. We think it may have been too cold before it was cooked. Mushroom sauce was stringy (shallots?) too. This was right after lockdown ended so maybe it was that? And even there the restaurant was half full but all of us were seated in the middle of the restaurant instead of space out. Why?
M.
We dropped in tonight and although early and quiet people slowly began piling in at regular intervals and service was consistent and regular but not pushy. They had a good playlist running (bonus points) which helped the evening along as well as the cocktails - some of the best I've had in a while.
We tried out the maidens mood and everything was fantastic except for one piece of meat being too charred on an edge. Overall I am in bed writing this knowing I will sleep soundly with a full belly and have been pampered well!
J. N.
Food and service was amazing. I don't usually eat this type of food but I was absolutely blown away!! Definitely give this place a go and you won't regret it
B. A.
We have a lot of smoked meat home cooked BUT the BRISKET!!!!! The best we’ve ever had ! Thanks for so much for looking after us for our son in laws’ birthday as well!! We will be back ! Fabulous food and atmosphere and thanks so much, Hayley , for the tour of the smoker - we’ve been out looking for a smaller one for us now !! We are hooked !!
A. K.
Tucked away from busy road, great ambient & service. However, food was just alright, ordered the chef selections which has everything.
V. C.
This place is fantastic! Absolutely beautiful setting, lots of choices on the menu (i always look before i book) extremely friendly service, delicious food, good drinks and some chilled music to listen to while we enjoyed our meal. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
R. C.
Booked a table for Sat 10/4/21 at 6.00pm. Arrived about 15mins early and were shown to our table by a happy and charming waitress. We were immediately offered plain water or sparkling water, we opted for sparkling.
We started our meal with the burnt ends with onion and horseradish bbq sauce. The flavour was terrific with the different cuts of meat in the bowl. there was a slight tingle on the tongue from the sauce but it was nice and subtle, not blow your head off stuff. One bit of advice I would give the kitchen is maybe only one or two table spoons of sauce on the burnt ends as it tended to take away from the flavour of the meat.
For mains we had the Master Kobe 9+ score Rump and the Westholme Wagyu 7+ score eye fillet with the beef fat bearnaise sauce. Wow, what an experience it was to consume these two beautiful cuts of beef. They arrived at our table beautifully presented and superbly cooked as ordered with obvious care and expertise. The meat was melt in your mouth quality and we enjoyed every memorable mouthful.
For sides we ordered the hand cut chips with confit garlic and aioli. The chips were cooked in their skin and were delicious with a hint of garlic and dipped in the aioli were great. We also ordered the mac and cheese gratin which was the best I have ever had. Light, tasty, I just wish I didn't have to share it.
To end a fabulous evening we had the rum creme caramel with smoked pineapple sorbet. What a wonderful dessert to finish a sensational evening.
The food was nothing short of sensational and the staff were attentive and great. The music could be turned down a notch or two to make conversation a bit easier, other then the two minor gripes, five stars all the way for our evening. Well done Meatmaiden.
M. A.
We booked for a Saturday night late dinner (8:45pm sitting) and there was some initial waiting around to be seated even though our table was well and truly ready - it was a busy night and just a slight oversight on their part but after we asked again we were seated straightaway.
We decided on the Maidens Mood which is $78pp not including wine and wine is must with their beautiful meat. It was an awesome choice but you must be famished because the food is heavy and filling but oh so delicious. You get a set menu which includes preselected 2 starters, 2 mains and 3 sides (not inc dessert - but tbh we were so stuffed that there was no room anyways) enough for each person on your table. Only draw back is everyone has to agree - with the menu and with in your table all opting in - which is really not difficult considering the food is just divine so you really can't go wrong. We had some seafood haters in our group and they were very accommodating with switching to suit everyone's dietary requirements.
Our bill was over $100pp which includes 2 bottles for the group (there was 5 of us) so it's definitely one for a special occasion type.
T. H.
Beautiful, full flavoured aged smoked meats. Fantastic, friendly service. Good location, parking right across the road off Little Colins. Highly recommend for meat lovers.
C.
The BEST dry-aged steak I’ve ever had
S. B.
This place was magic. Made for an excellent end to a wonderful evening. The only thing better than the good (burnt ends entree is the best tasting thing I've eaten in Melbourne) are the staff! We will be back, more than twice!
J. L.
Amazing food. Particularly liked the steak.
Brisket was so tender you can cut it with a fork
O. S.
Fantastic food and service, credit to Poppy and the team for such a wonderful night.
G. D.
Delightful Kingfish sushi and the Short Rib just fell off the bone. Delightful dinner with friendly staff in a relaxed underground atmosphere.
J. F.
Great beer selection with knowledgeable staff both behind the bar and serving the food.
The food was fantastic, could not fault any of it.
Especially the burnt ends and the short rib.
L. B.
Went here with some friends as we thought that we had not been yet. Turns out we had actually already been a few years before and had just forgotten our experience.
Seems that would also happen this time. We got the set menu for our table and as each dish came out we would forget the last. Nothing was bad, just that there wasn't anything that really stood out. We were talked into adding the extra charge per people to get the lobster mac. If you are currently contemplating this addon to the set menu than dont bother with it. There was a 20 cent piece size of lobster to share with 4 people and the mac itself was so saucey (the bad kind) that it was board line not even eatable.
The drinks were decent for what you would expect in that price range and the staff were friendly.
To sum it all up it was an underwhelming experience which seemed very over priced. Seems like it was the same a few years back for us
C. C.
Omg melt in your mouth meat
A. B.
Devine steaks and smoked meats, fantastic wine selection and great cocktails. Meatmaiden is my new favourite restaurant in Melbourne.
E. M.
Wow! delicious set menu!
Call great flavours and interesting menu. Really nice wines and I find assortment of cocktails too!
Z. W.
This place never disappoints, food is off the charts and love the cocktails. Do yourself a favour and get the "Oracle" Shiraz. Staff are great too. Be sure to book
J. R.
Fun atmosphere, attentive staff, Drinks were good, strip loin was a little tough and chewy, good peppercorn sauce, need a mash potato options as a steakhouse , prawn toast was well made, oysters fresh but no mignonette option , get a coffee machine please👍small finishing touches to take it to the next level but all in all a good experience :)
V. N.
Sumptious food and excellent service. Ambience is great too.

Best chips I've ever had

The food is sensational and the service and staff are awesome. Clearly the owners love what they do and so do we, highly recommend this place!

Amazing atmosphere. Wagyu Rump was outta this world. Delicious beyond words. 300g of heaven.
J. C.
Food was absolutely amazing nothing I wouldn't recommend
p. m.
Awesome food and cocktails were amazing. Love the old skool r'n'b tunes!
G. P.
Excellent food (meat!) and excellent drink too!
A. N.
Tried the steak tartare and skirt steak lunch specials. Smokin’ hot!
M. N.
Great place for dinner or lunch that serves some great meat dishes. The brisket is amazing. Pretty good value as well.
E. T.
I first went there not long after it had opened and I wasn't overly impressed. It may had to do with the fact that the place was fairly new and it was still trying to find it's groove. Jump several years forward. The group I was with had the banquet big enough to satisfy anyone with a fierce appetite! Excellent cuts of meat, with a good selection of sides. Washed down with excellent Victoria reds. Left feeling more than satisfied. The service was good, friendly and attentive staff. The place has definitely found it's groove.
A. C.
Used to be a great place to eat, but this time the meat was average at best and the sides rather ordinary. When you pay $90 per head you expect better food than that, it was like they forgot what they were doing over the lockdown. Service was ok.
T. B.
We ordered the BBQ meal for 2 and had a magnificent meal delivered to our door. Our postcode wasn't included but after a quick text, we were included! Great service. Superb food - brisket and ribs to die for - and the chicken was just so tender and delicious. Easy finish off instructions and I definitetly recommend it for a special dinner at home particularly during iso lockdown. An absolute treat. Thank-you Meat Maiden.
J. C.
Very yummy food and great service. Must try the lobster Mac and cheese. Dry aged porterhouse is also a winner.

Good ambience and service. Ordered the $65 set meal, and there was a lot of food served. Worth it! Will go again.
S. D.
Excellent experience. Great food, fantastic wine list and exemplary service.
Had the Chefs Menu at $65pp, which is excellent value considering the inclusions of Tartare, Eye Fillet, Brisket 'burnt ends' and the lobster mac n' cheese! All phenomenal dishes. We also shared the Lamb shoulder, and had a selection of sides, which were sublime.
The atmosphere in the place is buzzing, although the booths are also quite intimate.
Have already booked to go back next week. Highly recommend.

This place is great! Popped in on a Tuesday night and it was awesome. Super tasty food. Great wine recommendations and very cool place!

Had dinner with a friend here on night great meal. Also had a smokey whiskey which was a must have.
R. C.
Love the vibe. Had set menu which was a nice range and very accomodating for food allergies. Staff were friendly but food service was a bit slow
G. W.
Normally when a place is known for its meat you know that will be good but you are going to get some average sides. Not so here I had a full meal of just the sides ... with a burnt ends starter and was fully happy with my choice. They do not shy away from flavour. Also aside from having very attentive staff mass thanks to the lovely Canadian waiter *sorry forgot your name* who came and had a good laugh and chat and was honest with his recommendations and his love of pineapple.
E. S.
Awesome food, good service and cool restaurant. A bit to loud music, but great places
C. S.
Meatmaiden is an underground restuarant with a great atmosphere. Can be enjoyed both on a date and as a larger group.
I have been here twice. Both times the service was great and so was the food. For myself, the truffle mac & cheese + beef brisket and wide selection of beers was definitely the highlight of my experience at Meatmaiden.
The food here is a bit on the expensive side, but in this case you definitely get what you pay for.
R. J.
The food was delicious. We shared the tomahawk which was perfectly cooked with charred greens, honey carrot and mash potato. The smoked whiskey was a great accompaniment with the steak. The staff were friendly and attentive.
P. M.
We went to meatmaiden with friends for dinner and decided to order the feed me chef menu. It's a great value for money as you have 3 different starter dishes, several mains and sides. Our favourite dishes were the croquettes, steaks and lobster mac and cheese. The atmosphere and service were great, we will return and would recommend a visit for meat lovers.
J. R.
This place is great! Popped in on a Tuesday night and it was awesome. Super tasty food. Great wine recommendations and very cool place!
A. H.
Unbelievable food. The best brisket I've had in Melbourne (and I've had plenty), delicious steak...even the carrots were amazing! Also had the Small Batch Smoked whisky which was one of the best I've had too. Can't recommend Meat Maiden highly enough and can't wait to go back.
R. M.
My taste buds are still singing from our last visit! The decor was unique and incredible. The 1.2kg tomahawk ribeye was amazing! The waitress did an excellent job helping us with the ordering. Everything I tried was bursting with flavour. Overall experience: 5 stars.
V. d. M.
Amazing atmosphere. Wagyu Rump was outta this world. Delicious beyond words. 300g of heaven.
K. S.
Funky venue in a basement. Staff are super friendly but we had to wave them down to get attention. As there was a large group of us we had to have the $65 set menu, which although tasty.....was so not enough for the money. Mac and cheese, chips and little bowls of salad really not great value. Chicken was delicious and brisket was tender. 2 people, 2 drinks each and meals = $170
J. P.
You can just feel they handle their meat with so much care. Preperly cooked, great seasoning and sauces and nice selection of wines too.
Beef tartare looked amazing but couldn't taste the beef to be honest with all the strong component with strong seasoning but still good, The brisket has good amount burnt ends with subtle smoky flavour. The lobster mac & cheese sounds bit cliche but it is just delicious with nice combination of cheeses.
Not a fan of cocktails but the cocktails look pretty mean too.
D. “. W.
The food is amazing. I’ve been there multiple times and each time it just blows me away. It’s a little pricey but if you have a hungering for a massive piece of meat, this is definitely the place to go. The staff are awesome and friendly and the entire menu is just divine. I’d highly recommend their old fashioned Lemonade, Mac and Cheese and the chocolate fondant dessert from their menu. Absolute heaven in each bite.
c. h.
Meatmaiden is fantastic dinner out if your a carnivore and want to impress.
It is modern, rustic and relaxed enough to have a good time.
The staff were very attentive and nothing was an issue. You could see them work the room so all patrons could enjoy themselves.
We ordered an entree each (two of us) a main and side each. The tartare was super flavoursome and my favourite dish of the evening. The steaks we ordered were great and sides were as expected, yummy.
Oh and note the drinks and cocktails were superb, I had the bacon ?sour which was a brilliant addition to me meal
I would recommend to anyone that wants a quality meat experience without the franchise feel.
T. J.
I had a pleasant dinner, but was underwhelmed by the steak I had. The meat was dry and slightly overcooked (I had the filet).
I' make an effort to visit the best steakhouses in any city I travel to, and for an establishment that specializes in meat, this is unacceptable. The restaurant also has high end steakhouse prices, but mid-level presentation (black paper napkins vs. cloth napkins).
I would like to say the side items and appetizers were phenomenal.
M. O.
Have been twice, and both times have been excellent. The staff are friendly and helpful. The steaks are amazing, particularly the dry aged. The lobster Mac n' cheese is a must have and the kipfler potatoes are great. The ambiance is swanky cave, and we have seen kids there when we have been so I would say family friendly.
J. C.
Excellent service, both at the point of booking and when dining, are a great start to the experience that is dinner at Meatmaiden.
We had the Maidens Mood - $65 pp gets you loads of taster dishes ranging from pork belly and roast chicken to green salad and roast carrots to steak and fries.
The meats are succulent, tender and cooked to absolute perfection. Everything is delicious and we were absolutely stuffed to the gunnels by the time we left.
D. D.
Definitely recommend the tasting menu - a great way to sample a lot of delicious things. The food was all super tasty and very well prepared - especially recommend the wagyu beef or the brisket (if you're not going for the full menu). The croquettes were also very good. Our server was quite nice and the atmosphere was very interesting.
S. D.
We visited for my birthday dinner and had a wonderful evening. The food was to die for and the service extremely friendly. Will definitely be back.
S. D.
Meat maiden was a lovely dining experience, loved the food and the ambience however being rushed out the door was not ok. I understand they have other bookings but there is definitely a way to move customers on nicely and this did not happen. I have rated purely on the food to be very fair. The lobster Mac and cheese was a favourite for me.
d. y.
Wonderful atmosphere, friendly, knowledgeable and patient wait staff. Fantastic food.
Will definitely be back for many more times.
R. G.
disappointed with the kobe beef.
seared on very high heat where the outside is hard to cut through, while the inside was too blue.
sadly, have eaten better before at the venue
M. M.
I enjoyed the chefs selection. I'm usually hesitant to go with a set menu at a meat place but on the night it worked well.
Good variety of meat dishes finishing with a beautiful piece of steak.
Service was fantastic and accommodating. Definitely would go again
A. C.
I organised a group of 20 for my boyfriend's surprise 30th and I couldn't have been happier. They were very accommodating with our group size, dietary requirements and allowed us to bring a cake and decorations. Service was quick and on point too. We had the $65 set menu which was amazing and lots to go around! Will definitely be back.
J. W. (.
Always enjoy my experience at Meatmaiden. I like the venue... doesn't feel crowded even when busy. Have had the lunch specials and ordered a la carte and always enjoyed the food. I particularly enjoyed the smoked brisket on my last visit. Will happily return.
K.
As a respected member of the Melbourne meat community i can happily say, this is the best beef feed I've had in Melbourne. I would have uploaded pictures to back up my claim but I ate it before I had the chance to whip out my camera
B. O.
Came here on a whim because I received a good food voucher and was trying to find a place to eat. I'm from Texas, love BBQ (especially brisket) and decided to give this place a shot. I've been to a few ok BBQ places in Melbourne and figured this place would be much of the same but would at least scratch my itch for BBQ. I went in for a quick lunch with my partner and we each got different things to try. Started with the beef tongue and chicken wings. The salad and beef tongue complimented each other well with the salty and hardiness of the beef contrasting with the pickled vegetables and dressing used in the salad. The chicken was tender and the maple glaze was delicious. So far so good. For mains we got a brisket sandwich and grilled skirt steak with a side of chips, Mac N cheese and salad. The Mac N Cheese was creamy and the crumble on top added a great texture. Salad was light, and refreshing to eat with the meats and carbs and the chips were pretty standard. The skirt steak was tender, cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. Now on to the brisket, this is what worried me. A lot of other brisket I have tried in Melbourne has been slathered in BBQ sauce and or other condiments to cover up mediocre tasting brisket. This sandwich looked good and the brisket had a good bark. I took a piece of fat brisket bit into it and almost lost my mind. It was a full, intense, fantastic flavor. I nearly devoured the sandwich but saved a bite as I wanted it to be the last flavor in my mouth and didn't want to finish something so great so quickly. The food here was nothing short of fantastic. The service was great and staff were way more attentive than other restaurants around. The Xpress lunch is beyond an amazing deal and I will definitely be back for a few lunches and will definitely be here for a dinner and try a chefs choice set menu. For great tasting BBQ this place will be extremely hard to beat. For $30 lunch and the quality and quantity of food you get, this place is impossible to beat. Definitely give it a try.
T. G.
Absolutely delicious, however disappointing as a lot of the things I was trying to order were either unavailable or no longer on the menu. No ribs, certain cocktails etc. Came for the ribs which I couldn't have and the cocktail that no longer exists. The food that we ended up having was amazing which is why I'm still giving it 5 stars.
N. R.
Upon descending the industrial staircase into a dark, aroma filled den, we were promptly escorted to our table. The restaurant was filled with long tables of diners enjoying various cuts of meats and sides.... so it looked very promising! We enjoyed the Maiden's Mood - a three course meal of deliciousness! If you're after a hefty meat fix -the Meat Maiden will certainly provide. The slow cooked beef brisket was the winner for the evening, whilst the shared dessert of ice-cream with pineapple (between 4) was stingy. Thanks for a very enjoyable feast!
S. K.
This place is a hidden gem of Melbourne. Just have to say that you must go there at least once. I am going to go again.
L. d.
It was a nice dining experience. I liked the ambiance, the place had a good buzz. Cocktails were nice, quick and friendly service, and the food was good. Had the Wagyu rump and that was very nice, had it with beetroot and mash potato which was flavoured with sour cream, corn, onion and mint. The mash they had was nice but with all the flavours it would've been nice if they had just plain mash too to really let the meat flavour shine because the meat/steak was spectacular it was the highlight. All in all it was a good experience. It's a place you'll definitely take friends too (who love their meat) and recommend to everyone.
E. T.
Very nice atmosphere. As we walk down into the basement level the decor is so cool. Very modern, dim light for a slick ambiance. Food was incredible as well. Very modern, contemporary and tasty. Service was professional and good overall.

Out standing atmosphere just so nice. Great service and the food was to die for. It was such a great experience and a joy. The food was amazing. We had burnt ends, bbg, crispy onion then I had the 20-hour smoked rangers valley black market brisket , a signature dish and just so tender and the taste with the smokey sauce was so good, melt in the mouth just totally delicious.. The blue Kobe Wagyu eye fillet was perfect my daughter enjoyed immensely. My son had 40 day dry aged O'Connor bone-in Portahouse just perfect with a green peppercorn sauce and his girl had the rangers rump cooked to perfection with a multitude of sides roast corn, chipotle aioli, iceberg, parmesan so nice rosemary fries , confit of carrot and green leaves. The dining experience and food was just magic and memorable
d. a.
An amazing culinary experience. I've been trying to go here for a whole and I wasn't disappointed when I finally got the chance. I bought the banquet option and experienced a little taste of a lot of menu items and every dish was as good as the last. The staff are energetic, friendly and professional.

Little cute place with excellent food. Booking is a must as it is always busy especially at weekends.Waterfront is an extremely popular restaurant in downtown Kelowna. Reservations are a must if you want to guarantee a spot. Pro-tip: make sure to specify you'd prefer to sit on the patio if you want to enjoy the summer weather while you eat.
R. F.
Was lucky to get a spot on the high table with a last minute booking.
Upon entering, you are lead down a mysterious door that looks like it's going into... well who knows where... But you can smell the beautiful smoke and redgum burning so you know your in the right place.
We were greeted by a lovely waitress who sat us and ran us through the menu.
Menu was great and had a good variety of starters and a mix of steaks and smoker cooked meats.
We started with the pulled pork and gruyere croquettes with jalapeno mayo.
We merely waited 10mins before these babies came out. Great flavour, hot, crisp and complemented well by the mayo.
Soon after arrived:
Beef short rib with beetroot caramel- this was the highlight of the night as the meat had a beautiful smoke flavour that didn't go beyond so it killed the flavour of the dish. The beetroot caramel was ok, not a caramel consistency but went well with the beef and it was a nice change from the standard bbq sauce.
Wood fired half chicken with brioche stuffing- I rarely order chicken out... But I was feeling it.
The chicen was succulent and moist and bad a beautiful flavour from the wood. The stuffing also was flavoursome and went well.
Generous portion as well.
All in all the restaurant had a great ambience about it, very Melbourne and is great for taking out of towners.
The service was excellent and we were looked after throughout the night.
I don't think some reviews of this restaurant are fair regarding overpriced for portion size, I think they are very fair and generous for the quality.
Can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu!
M. C.
The brisket was the best dish we ordered. We asked for a suggestion on funky aged meat with funk flavour and fall apart texture. The server suggested one that we just agreed too. It was giant and clearly cut off a giant bone. It tasted like a normal steak though not as much funk as we thought and still a bit tougher than expected.
The meal was tasty but for a meat specialty resteraunt I had higher expectations.
K. S.
The steak was great, no arguement here, both my partner and I thought it was amazing! The sides were also pretty good especially the Mac and cheese and the croquettes. The BBQ items however left much to be desired - the brisket was WAY overdone, it was smokey in flavour but had lost all of its moisture so it was dry and really unpleasant....the burnt ends also suffered as a result (yes I know they're called burnt ends) but they're supposed to still be tender and crunchy at the same time....these were just tough and smothered in the sweetest, most overpowering BBQ sauce.
The service was wonderful and ambience was great. My recommendation: come here for a good steak, enjoyable sides but avoid the BBQ items.
M. R.
I believe we made a mistake by choosing the "Chef's choice" for $65. I think it included too many different menu items without highlighting what this restaurant is renowned for. I believe it does the restaurant a disservice by doing this. I would however say, we look forward to returning when we are next in Melbourne as their steaks looks absolutely amazing. I would not recommend the "Maiden's Mood".
A. S.
Like watching a tribute group covering your favourite band, Meatmaiden was OK, but not great. Staff were attentive, venue was cool and sides were excellent (mac n cheese and potatoes especially), but the mains didn't live up to expectations.
Suckling pig, whilst flavourful, was dry. Brisket was delicious but didn't come with anywhere near enough sauce. Porterhouse steak was a quality bit of meat, but came out extremely rare. Our waitress - who was awesome - made us order it medium as she said it would be rarer than we would expect, but medium well or even *gasp* well done was probably what we should have asked for to equate to a 'typical' medium rare.
Overall not a bad experience, but when you spend $125 a head on BBQ and beers you expect a bit more.
C. H.
Overall a great night. Food yum, venue beautiful, great wine list. Would return.
Some things to improve:
Bacon Sour... why advertise a beautiful cocktail with thick strip of bacon, only to serve with tiny excuses of crumbs on bacon on top?! Really poor bait and switch advertising. Should have sent it back, in hindsight.
Wish the staff had been more attentive re drinks. One point a beer was forgotten, and we were asked “do you still want it?” Yes, we do! We’ve only just started our night. At another point had to go to the bar to order myself a drink since no one was asking our table if we wanted more.
Easily would have spent more had the staff made the effort to ask.
J. T.
Not an extensive range of menu items but they are delicious. Tried the Lobster Mac and Cheese, and the smoked brisket which were EXCELLENT. Steak from the grill less impressive and the smoked short rib was good but not great. Plenty of drinks options to suit all tastes. Services was okay - took ages to get the bill.
M. C.
Amazing place! Friendly, helpful staff, beautiful food, really great atmosphere and energy. I would strongly recommend. I had the chefs tasting plate, which was an excellent way of sampling a range of different things. So tasty!
f. q.
Best beef brisket I ever tried. A good portion and you will not walk away without feeling the taste and filling up the tummy.
S. C.
Wonderful food, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable which is excellent. The brisket is highly recommended! A wonderful place to have some fantastic food with family or friends. Not kid friendly per se, best enjoyed with adult company.
H. B.
Oh. My. God. SO GOOD. The food is delish and the decor is fantastic. Can get quite busy, though we've never had to wait long.
I've had the banquet which is absolutely fantastic. If you're not up for it, the Burnt Ends entree is great, and the brisket is outstanding.
B. C.
Both Excellent quality and Value for money city dining.
C. B.
Great staff service..Love the food..Nice ambience
E. S.
The good: Great atmosphere, great steak, especially the porterhouse. I recommend the mac n cheese as a side dish. Nice service staff.
The bad: expect a waiting time of 45 minutes on average with no booking.
The high tables are NOT to sit 4 people.
A. T.
As always - the fare is absolutely beautiful. Atmosphere is fantastic from the front entrance down the stairs and through to a great dinning room. Wide range of drinks and if meat is your thing then you have found home. Brisket is my absolute fave. Enjoy!
G. S.
Some of the best food and service I have ever had. We had the Maiden's Mood platter which I can highly recommend. Our waitress was awesome and look after us very well.
L. A.
We had a great time here! Such lovely friendly staff who knew their jobs - immensely. Food was incredible- could not fault it at all. We will definitely be back when we're in town again. Its a must do for anyone wanting a beautful quality meal and service. Thanks guys!
M. S.
Very friendly staff and very lovely food. An interesting fit out in an interesting location.
J. H.
The meat is certainly the star attraction, however service was prompt, great drink selection to accompany the food and options for other palettes. Busy with the office crowd on a weeknight, parents may struggle with children as some tables are seated with high stools. Not a cheap meal, but great value.
f.
Rump steak amazing. Brisket and burnt ends good but not perfect. Brisket a tiny bit dry and burnt ends a bit too saucy... Also had green beans and salad which were also good but not quite great. Excellent service and wine. Close to excellent but not quite :)
W.
Meat Maiden is located at 195 Little Collins Street but is not visible at the street level. When you walk through the door you are confronted with metal industrial stairs. Take the stairs down to the basement and that’s where you’ll find Meat Maiden.
The restaurant has a large refrigerated meat display on the right hand side of the entrance and the reception and a bar with stools on the left. As well as the usual table seating, there are also elevated booths which accommodate 4 people.
We were in a large group so we had the $65 set menu. The set menu included Wagyu tartare, pork croquettes, roast chicken, beef brisket, dry age beef, lobster mac and cheese, salad and spiced fries. We enjoyed all the dishes however there isn’t a lot of lobster in the lobster mac and cheeese and the fries were extremely salty. The set menu had enough food for everyone and if you asked, they’ll give you takeaway containers so that you can take home the uncomsumed food.
The set menu does not include dessert but can be ordered for an additional $14. We had the the crème brulee, dark chocolate pave and rum and butterscotch sponge which came with icecream.
Wines start at around $70 per bottle, cider is $10 and cocktails are around $20.
Meat Maiden also caters for vegetarians.
Service was good and they were able to accommodate our last minute request to have 2 additional guests.
It was busy on the night we went so I would recommend a booking be made in advance. They have two seatings. We choose the 8pm seating so we could spend more time at the restaurant. At 12am they turned on all the light. That was our signal to leave.
Overall, we had an enjoyable evening at Meat Maiden and would recommend the restaurant.
J. F.
Without a doubt, this is the best meat restaurant in Melbourne. I my self have been to numerous meat and steak houses around Melbourne and Victoria, some lacking consistency and others effort for the food. I have been to Meatmaiden several times each one a great experience with good meat.
M. S.
Best brisket I have tried so far in Melbourne, moist the entire way through.
All dishes and sides were excellent, none of the meat needed source, but the sources were also excellent.
Staff were attentive and very friendly, loved the cosy location of the venue.
M. M.
Express lunch is a winner. Highly recommend the burnt end bun. Great mix of Smokey meat, pickles, lettuce and cheese, chips on the side. Mix in a great starter and a drink of your choice and you have a winning combination. Well done.
E. P.
The food was very good. The brisket is as good as any you'll find in the BBQ meccas in the US. The service is friendly and not overbearing. The beer list could benefit from some diversity. There were only pale ales and IPAs on tap. Something smokier and maltier would complement the rich and smoked meats better. The mac and cheese was cheesy and good.
But the price just doesn't fit the atmosphere. It's a casual atmosphere with hip music, but it has a la carte pricing. It's expensive for what it is.
G. B.
We had a really good meal at Meat maiden. The briskets and the barramundi were the highlights - do take the carrots and the fries as a side you won't regret it. It's relatively affordable and the wine list is good too. Service could be better to be honest and the waguy was dry/overcooked. Except that, everything was good!
T. J.
Had the $50 banquet and it was very filling. I've never had pulled pork this good, so juicy not dry like most places. The beef brisket just melts in your mouth. Recommended for meat lovers.
L. B.
Great experience, walk down a few flights of stairs and it just opens up to this beautiful bar. Staff are incredibly knowledgeable and very helpful. It is expensive but if you like meat worth it.
R. A.
Expensive steaks that is not worth its quality. Funny thing was that the sides outshine the steaks more. Seating was also very uncomfortable as the tables were really close to each other. Worse thing was food took really long to prepare. There are better steakhouse out there with a more reasonable price point and also better service.
J. G.
My husband and I went there for our anniversary dinner and I have to say that their service was amazing! We arrived at 830pm and was seated almost immediately. The oysters with fennel dressing and the slow cooked wagyu were the highlights for me that evening. The service crew was amazing and it's one of those places that I'll definitely go back for it's amazing food and experience.
S. H.
I couldn't believe how good the brisket was. The other meats were also prepared to perfection and well worth the cost. There was plenty of food and not a single person left with any room left in their stomach
C. C.
The food is sensational and the service and staff are awesome. Clearly the owners love what they do and so do we, highly recommend this place!
L. A.
If you love smokey American style BBQ this a place will blow your mind. Bring a group and go for the chef's choice menu to sample everything and
if you're a fan of the old fashioned you have to try the smokey old fashioned here, this drink is the nectar of the gods.
I would consider the pricing $$
S. C.
We had the chef's choice menu which was a great selection of dishes but it really was a lot of food! My surprise favourite was the devilled eggs, which weren't listed on the menu. The pickled vegies are so great with all of the rich, heavy, smokey meat meal. The lobster mac & cheese was beyond decadent. Next time we will order from the menu as the serves are very generous & we couldn't eat everything.
T. F.
Went for the set menu the other day with a group of 11. Overall approx $90PP with wine. Good value, 6-7 courses. Meat is cooked to perfection although the cuts on the steak was average on the set menu.
Good american style pit roast bbq joint. No wagyu 9+ here but food is made with love.
Loved the steak tartare starter.
We had an issue with the brisket being too salty but otherwise a pleasant meal.
V. N.
Sumptious food and excellent service. Ambience is great too.
s. s.
Meat maiden provided a pleasant dinning experience in their modern fit out and grungie restaurant.
Cosy environment and exceptional service.
Steaks were of highest quality cuts and cooked perfectly. The variety of sides were also a hit, with the lobster mac and cheese the best mac and cheese we have ever had.
Drinks list had some great local drops.
Highly recomend, can't wait to come back.
J. M.
I don't have any words. This place may be hard to find for the un initiated but far out... The food was the best I/we have ever eaten. Amazing service, hospitality and a restaurant Gordon ramsey couldn't swear anything bad about. These guys were worth every damn cent. And yes the bacon whisky flavoured cocktail was OMG fantastic
H. H.
My friend and I both ordered Wagyu eye fillets to be cooked medium but both steaks came out well done.
The steaks were served with a grill wedge of lemon which I was very surprised about as a garnish for red meat.
We were given fresh Wagyu eye fillets that were cooked medium. We also got fresh sides and two complimentary sides. The staff were alert and attentive when we pointed out the problem. The steaks were $57 alone and that is one of the reasons I will not fully back this place. I will only justify paying that price again if I'm guaranteed top quality meat, cooked to my specification.
S. R.
Dom was our fantastic customer service person, loved his menu explanation and patience and attentiveness.
Great food especially the meat.
B. M.
The lunch menu here is amazing, only beaten by the dinner menu! Great to drop by for a working lunch of a burnt end sandwich or to come back later for some smoked brisket. All complemented by a fantastic dark and intimate atmosphere. Great for two or groups to to about 10.
J. B.
Very cool atmosphere. Great vibe.
Super friendly staff.
Good variety of meat dishes finishing with a beautiful piece of steak.
Best to walk down here during dinner and have a great evening.
T. R.
Went to meatmaiden for dinner and was very impressed with the food and service. Only reason I am giving it four stars is because it would have been good to see a vegetarian main for those of us joining our carnivore friends. I realise this doesn’t matter to 90% of the customers so if you’re all meat lovers 5/5!
A. P.
If you're into meat, meat and of course meat, then this is a great place to visit. The restaurant is one level below street level, so you need to walk down the stairs once you get into the building entrance. Think I probably had one of the most tender steaks in my life at this place. Would certainly go back there next time I'm in Melbourne. Our food did take a wee bit longer than we expected, but I guess it was worth the wait!
R.
Entree of Pork cracklings and kangaroo were absolutely delicious. The sides of mushrooms and potato were phenomenal however the porterhouse steak was a bit tough. When I come back, I will def order a different steak.
A. G.
Cannot recommend this place highly enough. If you love meat, you'll love this place. Go on a Saturday and get the lunch special, it's incredible. Great selection of beers and cocktails, great twist on the old dark and stormy
M. S.
Food was outstanding. Good background music choices (Led Zeppelin while I was there), good craft beer choices, nice ambiance. I had the beef ribs and the charred greens, both very tasty.
D. W.
Went on a weekday for dinner. Place was busy and comfortable. Good service. Good food. Some decent "not meat" options, though mainly caters for the meat lovers, as you would hope and expect. Try the delicious Mac & Cheese (on the side).
S. S.
Really great bbq. The chicken is probably one of the best I've had along with the lobster mac and cheese which is to die for. I highly recommend the tasting menu as it gives you a sample of their greatest hits and we'll worth the price
T. S.
This is a must visit restaurant in Melbourne. For those that love excellently cooked smoked BBQ meats, wonderful sides and a cocktail list that makes you want to order one of everything. The burnt ends are a must!
I.
A casual but exceptional restaurant with meat as its focus. The service was attentive without being overbearing. With a great wine selection, ambience, I would happily recommend this restaurant. I will be coming back. Just walk down little collins and have a great evening.
G. S.
Set menu wasn't very filling, meats were served at room temp, old fashioned was served in a chipped glass, mains brought out and our table wasn't reset so had to wait before we could eat our food. Food was tasty but probably won't rush back.
2.
Very nice atmosphere, great music as we ate! Food was delicious, set menu but felt as if we didn’t have enough for the group as we shared it. Otherwise service was great as well. Will certainly go back with a smaller group.
B. K.
A real premium restaurant. There's plenty of steak options for those meat lovers and other choices for those who aren't big on it. Cocktails were delicious and we will definitely be back.
J. C.
Food was absolutely amazing nothing I wouldn't recommend
D. R.
We took the set dinner. $90 p/p We were two people and wanted to take one with extra meat and one with desert But they said decide or extra meat or extra desert. Stingy. Was my partners bday. Smh. Werent full by the food but the quality was very good and they know what theyre doing with the meat
G. D.
First night out of lockdown and I had to come here first. Great food and service 👌 never disappoints
R. A.
Carnivores delight! I ate by myself - enjoyed well priced wine by the glass, the lamb shoulder and the kipfler potatoes. The lamb had been marinated in yoghurt and then baked to finish. I almost needed a spoon - it was so tender, so tasty, so good! The kipflers were crunchy and mushy at the same time. It would be good if they catered to single diners (a lot of us business travellers love some variation) by having a mix of the sides - not be forced to choose a single side dish - this is just my personal crusade for midweek dining... I have zero complaints - this is good food, curated by meat nerds (no evidence of maidens was discovered). I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
C. W.
Beautiful food and even better hospitality from the friendly and attentive staff. Octopus was tender, smokey and oh soo yum. Burnt ends right on too. Highly recommended if your looking for a good place to eat city side.
N. H.
Awesome food, staff were great, especially Evelyn
A. P.
Oh man, those burnt bits... absolutely to die for!
A little pricey, but it was absolutely worth it, a carnivores dream! The set menu certainly delivered both quality and quantity so the price was easily justified, I'd even say that they could slightly cut down on portion size, we ordered the set menu for four people, though easily could've fed 5 or 6.
A little confused with the lobster mac n cheese being on the non-carnivorous portion of the menu though.
A. W.
A dimly lit industrial venue. If you go to this place, don't invite your vegetarian friends. In fact, probably don't even tell them that it exists. The menu here has meat, meat, broccoli, more meat and meat. If they could find a way to make meat into a dessert, I'm sure they would. It's good meat, and the service that comes with it is top notch. If you're carnivorous, you'll enjoy yourself.
D. I.
great food, excellent service. I could eat a family size tray of burnt ends on there own.. the only thing is music's louder than just to create an ambience, which for me being soft spoken made communication with partner hard, however the inability to hear her nag though could be considered a positive lol.
J. S.
Best steak and steal tartare around! Excellent service and great ambiance too. Can't wait for my next meal here!
M. S.
Lots of delicious slow cooked meat .Great service and friendly staff. We had the feed me option, plenty to eat. Good value for money.
N. Z.
Food here is great! We did the set menu for $20 for lunch and every dish was fabulous. Good for small or big group, have also done dinner and I’m a fan omg the menu, great underground meatventure
S. T.
AMAZING! great service and incredible food
S. R.
Amazing food and service.
We got the group shared meal and if the Wagu had been a little more generous as the serve was minuscule, I would have rated Meatmaiden 5 stars if it had been more.
w. s.
Delicious food - must try the burnt ends! Great selection of boiler makers. American BBQ cuisine but with a more fine dining feel.
T. K.
We were here for a work dinner, and everything was perfect. Great wine and cuts of meat. They took their time to explain the different cuts and the ageing process help decide what we were going to eat.
M. Z.
Fantastic brisket, great steak once it came as ordered (first came well done instead of medium rare, but staff was very friendly and happy to correct the mistake)
n. O. y.
Amazing food and great service. Burnt ends, rump steak, tartare, cocktails all super delicious.
R. G.
Great service. Great food. Staff where very attentive explained the menu fully and helped us deciced on what to eat.
Maiden mood set menu was amazing. Enough food for everyone to roll out of the restaurant.
K. G.
Amazing meal and great service. Will definitely be returning! Thank you to Meatmaiden for accomodating us when we were having a stressful night when we got stuck in a car park for 30mins and we’re running late to our booking. Highly recommend this restaurant!
J. R.
The Meat Feast is where it is at, just let the chef decide. We got crispy chicken ribs, devilled eggs, picked vegetables, Brisket(oh my god), crisp bit tender lamb ribs, fries, slaw and a selection of sauces. Unreal. Awesome craft beer tap selection. Great food and beer, all wrapped up in a cosy and intimate underground atmosphere.
M. B.
Definitely somewhere you need to visit if you are not a vegan. Great brisket and sides, and amazing atmosphere and display. Staff were really helpful, and a decent wine selection to choose from too.
B. R.
DE-LICIOUS! We managed to sneak in before the 6/7pm crowds started arriving, because... Well who doesn't love an early dinner, especially in winter! As two protein lovers we were like kids in a lolly shop trying to pick only two items from the mouthwatering menu. We went for the lobster mac and cheese and the beef brisket. I'm no foodie so I'll cut to the chase - they were amazing... like urgh, I'm so sad it's over. Definitely would return when back in Melbourne! We even brought our three month old and he fell asleep on the booth bench seat to the dulcet tones of whatever funky music they had playing. Big night out for him, he loved it too 😉
A. C.
If you're looking at some other BBQ grill place, forgetabouit. This is where you wanna go. Had the rangers valley wagyu steak, medium rare, was cooked perfectly. Sauces were good but the grilled lemon it came with is underrated! The wine selection was spot on. Going to sleep good tonight
J. V.
Top notch food. The brisket potion is on the smaller side but packed with flavor. The cocktails are a tad overpriced. Service was lovely. Very loud environment
A. C.
Really good. Had been there once and came away underwhelmed. Gave it a second chance and it was brilliant. Food was so good and plentiful. I really enjoyed it and will be back. Service was fun too.
S. H.
Amazeballs, food, beer and wine, great place to dine. Can't wait to go again with a group of mates.
T. G.
Absolutely breathtaking, everything was amazing from start to finish. Hayley was absolutely beautiful and staff very attentive and friendly. Must visit ! 👏👏🙌
G. C.
The decore and atmosphere is excellent and the food even better. The shared platter is an awesome filling delicious feed, can't recommend high enough.
F. P.
Went with few of our friends for lunch. One friend ordered a certain type of beers and was given a different type. When he enquired the waitress, she said that they ran out. Shouldn't he been told first and not have to ask? Also another friend ordered chips and when they paid they realised they have been charged a higher price. Turned out there are 2 slightly different chips (spicy and non spicy, cant remember the exact names). The waitress (again) said my friend didn't specify which one. Exactly! Shouldn't she check which one?
Food is not bad, slightly on the salty side.
M. W.
Treat yo self and get the tasting menu - fabulous.
C. B.
One of the best meat I ever had in my life. I asked for a smoked rib and it was just delicious. Nice place and staff. A bit expensive. But definitely worth the experience. I highly recommend it.
R. M.
That was absolutely delicious!!! Steak was cooked perfectly, veggies were wonderful, and the Mojito was one of the best I’ve ever had. Excited to come here again
M. S.
The "burnt ends" were amazing but I was not impressed by the 'crackling' dish. I wanted to see a lot more craft beer but I think the focus here is meat and wine.
I noticed another post here about the toilets but from what I saw they were immaculate.
I gave 4 stars because of how good the burnt ends were.
K. D.
Had the pleasure of a meatfest dinner after a disappointing vegetarian lunch at a conference earlier that day. The chilli caramel project rib was crispier than expected and packed a good amount of chilli heat. The Wagyu rump was absolutely awesome! Tender juicy inside and wonderfully charred on the outside. Ordered a medium rare and it was perfectly cooked! Now on my top 5 steaks of all time 😁
N. S.
Been wanting to come here for ages and it didn't disappoint. Had a steak which melted in my mouth (bit like the pineapples in my wallet) had the burnt ends brisket as a starter, which was great. Looking forward to a return visit.
I. P.
The ambience is great and lends itself to intimate catch ups and group doo's. The food is great, I highly recommend the brisket. The staff are incredibly helpful and go above and beyond to look after their patrons. Well worth a visit.
J. K.
Food was good.. steak was cooked perfectly. Disappointed on the service though, we sat down and no one gave us the food menu.. had to wait 5-10 min to get somebody's attention to bring us the menu
J. P.
Chef's selection too die for, fantastic customer service and great cocktails will be telling everyone. Yum
T. R.
Simply divine meat. Great brisket, but the pork belly was the real stand out for me this visit. Not cheap, but you *do* get what your pay for
Z. H.
Best piece of steak I've ever had - and I don't say that lightly. Wyagu rump was cooked to perfection - crunchy and BBQy on the outside and Medium rare on the inside. Absolutely delightly. Oh, and the jalapeno croquettes are awesome too.
M. T.
Came for a corporate dinner. Great food and prompt, efficient staff. A solid recommendation if you are in need of mead and meat (maidens sold separately I'm told).
J. B.
Incredible degustation menu: such delicious, perfectly cooked meat and the chef was open to changing the meats served to meet dietary restrictions. The atmosphere is stylish too Can't wait to go back!
O. H.
Great place with an amazing atmosphere. Food and drink were amazing and the staff were very helpful with the menus and recommendations
P. E.
This has been the best restaurant I have been to in Melbourne (if you like meat). The place is a bit hidden bit very stylish. Many little details in the decor that make this a very special place. Must go!
M. B.
I loved this place, my colleague and I got the $65 a head menu and the food was delicious, the lobster Mac and cheese was an absolute hit with both of us fighting for the last spoonful, I loved the beef brisket with beetroot as, would definitely recommend and next time I am in Melbourne I will be back
A. D.
Good service and good food juicy steaks. Good service until late. However be aware your meat will come already cut. nice selection of craft beers.
C. A.
wide selection of cocktails and great dinner options. Low lighting and the atmosphere helps create the perfect meal with your husband.
J. H.
Great restaurant with a comfortable atmosphere. Amazing tasting meat. Wouldn't recommend coming if your a vegan. ;)
K. M.
Great food! The venue was pumping so make sure you have a booking ;)
J. M.
Very friendly and attentive service, delicious dinner options. Particularly loved the brisket. Can't go here without trying the bacon infused cocktail!
P. H.
I love meatmaiden... I've been a dozen times and it never disappoints. Couldn't pick one item to recommend since it's all pretty damn good.
Plan ahead though, it gets super busy and the waits can be long!
J. K.
Had the tasting menu. It was a pretty good value, more than we could eat. The food was good, kept simple with not too much rub or sauce.
C. P.
Fabulous service and very accommodating. Food was divine and all staff were amazing. Nothing was a problem and our glasses weren't left empty for long.
D. T.
A brilliant smokehouse grill. Starters, mains and sides were all great and the customer service was very diligent, focused and friendly. Would come again.
B. T.
This place will not disappoint no matter which selection you order from the menu. If you're feeling indecisive go for the chefs selection. Plenty of delicious variety, just leave room for dessert if you're that way inclined
T. D. F.
Wow!
Very cool atmosphere.
Great vibr.
Service super friendly
Food was tremendous.
Sprouts are hugely recommended.
Burnt ends.... ooh la la. Delicious.
J. E.
Had dinner with a friend here on night great meal. Also had a smokey whiskey which was a must have.
T. R.
Love this place! Best steak in Melbourne
N. K.
Great meat experience in an underground setting. All the beef was excellent, the roast chicken a bit disappointing. Would definitely go back
S. B.
Excellently prepared steak. Burnt ends are almost Kansas city level
M. (.
Amazing food and great customer service. This place is our go to for tasty steak and comfort food.
L. B.
We were a bit disappointed with the Chefs selection. The brisket is amazing but the lobster Mac and cheese was quite underwhelming as were most of the other dishes we got. I had such high hopes for this place.
A. L. C.
Great meal. They did a nice job with the porterhouse steak we ordered. neat place with a fun vibe
M. A.
Really good food. Portions are generous. We ordered the Chef's choice and got a great variety but it was way too much food for us 😊
M. B.
Great meal! Go for the tasting menu
T. B.
Food is excellent, although serving size is a tad small for the price. Overall, a nice place to have a meal, good atmosphere but value for money could be better.
S. A.
Was fairly disappointed. Our steak was full of fat. To the staffs credit they did not charge us and gave us complimentary cocktails.
J. B.
Great new menu. There's now a few different steak options with different sides with is good to see. This place is a great a place for a good steak with some great service, good beer, good wine and whiskey
A. C.
Great food, great beers on tap, really trendy basement location. Option to sit at the bar. Also great little lunch menu for takeaway.... Love the burnt end sandwich.
P. X.
One of the best steaks I’ve ever had, can’t wait to start going there weekly again
A. J.
Lastnight,I felt that the place was not welcoming, especially when we called for a table for tw on the phone they sound bubbly, once we arrived the waitress's judge us by our color, felt like second rate citizens. Great meal though.
A. B.
Fabulous American style food. Large serves so expect to take some home with you. Friendly staff and a great range of drinks too. Try the hard ice tea!
H. W.
Excellent food and service. Minus one star because the meat sometimes doesn't seem hot, only warm. Nevertheless delicious!
H. B.
Wow! A meat extravaganza. Had the The Maiden's Mood share plates. Standouts were the burnt ends and brisket. Great service, thanks Hannah.
R. B.
Fricken fantastic.
S. L.
Best chips I've ever had
J. W.
Overrated steak place in Melbourne.
Place is lack of character.
Their steaks were, chewy, dry and lack of flavors.
Prices were not cheap also
Really disappointed
J. K.
Fantastic restaurant! Great smoked meats, smoked cocktails and some awesome service! Our new favourite!

Great food (try the burnt ends), excellent tap selection, nice wines and cosy setting. We loved it.

The restaurant was gorgeous and the food was good but not amazing. Service was great too. It's a good night out there.

As the name implies, this place is very “meaty”. They offer vegetarian options, some of which were really very good, but I was surprised when they put a plate in front of me with just a massive piece of pumpkin.

Ok, if you love your meat, or want to work on that heart attack you have been dreaming about - this is the place. Omg. Make sure you book, you'll need to plan ahead to get a table.

Great food. Staff were great. Set up a nice little area for my us, which included my 8 month old son

Yes it tastes real smokey, yes has quality meats and yes has good service, but the 30 dollar menu is somewhat limited and the real goodies are on the expensive side...

Friendly staff, great lunch specials for $30, but a bit of a wait before we got our drinks or starters. Staff was apologetic but it dulled what was an otherwise delicious experience.

The food and service were both great. The wine selection and recommendations were pretty good too.

Probably the best American food in Melbourne; meat falling off the bone, plenty of sauces, delicious cocktails, and the best sides in town. Worth a visit to just for the mac'n'cheese

Had the dry aged porterhouse.. it was juicy and delicious. My seat at the corner was a bit too dark, could barely see my food...but it adds to the experience i guess.

Been going to this place for over 15 years, always a great venue, food, service, staff, always a pleasure....go Melbourne!

Some of the most tender meat in Melbourne. Their lunch menu used to have way more filling, had the burger last time I was there and it was very tasty.

We had the xpress meat. It was delicious. Not as smokey as i was expecting but truly delicious. Makes us want to move to melbourne!

Staff are amazing, food is delicious! Well worth a visit!

The burnt ends are the best I've had. Could easily order a bowl of jerky and burnt ends for lunch and be satisfied. Everything they serve tickles all your meaty spots.

My go to for nice slow cooked meat. Very American style but the staff are fantastic and wine selection pretty good.

Great atmosphere. The food is amazing and the wine list is spectacular. Prepare your body for a truck load of meat.

As the name suggests, this place is all about meat. Although meat is king, the sides complement the fare beautifully. The slow-cooked brisket is superb.

Do yourself a favour and walkin try it out... awesome atmosphere, and the crew clearly know their stuff. Good quality, great tasting meats!

Always been a nice place to go with a group but unfortunately they now force groups to pay for the set menu if the group is seven or more people, even when we were the only large group there.

Can't be beat, best steak in town. Top notch service too
