Amazing experience! Was worried that Mjolner might be a little gimmicky, but our experience was anything but.
Amazing food, drinks, atmosphere and staff! This restaurant has it all!!!
We enjoyed the Viking feast with a group of friends. They catered to a friend's dietary needs flawlessly, allowing them to share in our experience without risk. Enjoying the same food and not feel like they missed out.
Easily a top restaurant experience for me. Highly recommended.

Love Viking themed decor and menu. You could feel their passion on delivering an exotic dining experience from their table settings, lights, background music and even the apron they’re wearing.
Roast bone marrow is one of my favorite which reminds me of the way Mongolian greets their guests. Every dish comes with good portion.

Absolutely an amazing experience. I loved the Viking stories behind the interior and food. The food was amazing! I could not fault anything and the service was perfect. I highly recommended this place to everyone!!
S. B.
Amazing experience, awesome food, the best service and altogether a wonderful night celebrating my daughter's birthday this evening. One of Melbourne's best kept secrets!!! Intimate, viking-friendly and, did I mention BLOODY AWESOME FOOD!!
A. F.
Moljner is definitely a wonderful dinner experience. It was my first time and it did not disappoint. Delicious cocktails and mocktails accompanied mouthwatering meals. The steak and beef short rib were outstanding. The restaurant itself is also beautifully decorated and creates a wonderful ambience. We will be back!

One of the best places I've been to. I don't know what's better, the food or the service. If you're looking for a viking experience this is the best place. I went there for my birthday and the staff were so thoughtful, that I left with a handwritten birthday card and a gift. Can't recommend this place enough.

Giving 5 stars from the atmosphere and service
The food is alright but I wouldn't come back for the food. For my taste it's way too salty. We ordered bone marrow as an entree. Don't recommend you to order it if you're not a big fan of bone marrow. Hardly could try a little piece. Antipasto plate was alright, wague stake was smoky and yummy. Mushroom main was over salted. Overall really nice experience especially drinking from the horn. And the dessert was great

Dine like a Viking at this incredible restaurant. We shared the Viking Feast with 6 people and had a great time. The atmosphere is awesome and the staff made our experience great. Highly recommended.

Absolutely loved our Viking-themed dining experience at Mjolner! The service is incredible and the attention to detail is superb, from the moment we walked into the venue we were immersed in the experience!
The food was delicious and portions were very generous too. We got a few starters and mains to share:
Gravlax - a classic Scandinavian dish consisting of cured salmon. The texture is quite firm, and it’s served with the most delish horseradish cream.
Roast bone marrow - slightly disappointed with this dish as it really lacked any flavour. You can add on a shot of whiskey to go with it though which is fun!
Beef short rib - the beef was fall-off-the-bone tender! This was the highlight of our meal, so delicious and flavourful!
Porchetta (feature dish) - the crispy pork crackling skin was super addictive! Although there were some parts of the skin that weren’t fried quite well so were very chewy. The pork itself was a little bit chewy, particularly the fat.
They have an extensive list of cocktails to try, you’ll definitely be spoilt for choice! Our waiter recommended a few to us - the highlights being: Recharging the Odinforce and Heimdallr’s Horn.
Overall, a very theatrical dining experience that’s definitely worth visiting!
A. B.
Fantastic experience overall - right from the ambience to the decor to the plating and food options. Real vikings feel everywhere. The starters were to die for! We ordered the bone marrow and burrata and then drank whisky with the bone marrow - what a thrill! Dinner was fish in chowder soup, steak and short rib. The short rib was outstanding however the fish was salty and the steak was a bit overdone. The only main complaint was the service - took forever to get menus and the drinks.
However, great experience overall, slightly pricey but definitely worth a visit at least once.

After years of wanting to try this place out and building up the expectations, Mjølner did not disappoint. The staff made the whole experience so memorable and worthwhile and everything was so yummy!! A great spot if you're looking for something out of the ordinary or just a really great meal!
D. D.
The food was phenomenal and the mead was delicious.
Stand outs were the veal and compressed watermelon entree and the vegetarian mushroom risotto.
Sparkling mead from a horn was the cherry on top.
Perfect evening with friends 10/10 will go again.

What experience!!!
I choose this place to secret celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday and I was amused with all experience.
Firstly, my boyfriend loves Viking stories and he couldn’t stop to smile of excitement. Everything was amazing. The welcoming shot, the beer in the horns, weapons choice for main dinner… absolutely well thought!
But it’s not just about a thematic restaurant, it’s about delicious food, amazing cocktails and great service. It’s definitely a place to go for a great meal beside the all experience.
Simple loved everything!
A. B.
Had dinner for my birthday and the food was the greatest I’ve ever eaten, especially the bone marrow & the desert they set on fire, it was amazing.
The service was fabulous & explanations of everything Viking. They adhered to
COVID restrictions which made me feel safe while providing a really intimate and quiet environment. My 9yo son enjoyed it as did all my guests. Would absolutely recommend!
A. M.
What an experience! It was such a wonderful night. Everything was truly amazing. The food, drinks, weapons, atmosphere… everything! Highly recommend.

Look for the big dark brown doors on Hardware Lane @MjolnerAustralia and step into a medieval world, dark and brooding, across 3 levels, I headed down to the bar. The experience started with a watermelon concoction served in a glass horn as a toast to the Norse gods and fallen Vikings. Interesting way to start. I chose the following:
Hafgufa
Apple, lemon, honey, ginger & spices
Sipped on this non-alcoholic cocktail which is refreshing.
Gravalax
Pickled cucumber, horseradish cream, oat and linseed cracker
Have to go with a classic and this didn't disappoint. Large refreshing chunks of cured salmon, love the sweet burst of cucumber juice, pairing against the slightly rich horseradish cream, burst of caviar, against an earthy cracker with crunch for added texture.
Parsley crusted baked rockling, Norweigan clam chowder and sea vegetables
Before the mains were even served I was asked to select a weapon of choice from a leather sheath and I ended up with a monstrous heavy knife! Fortunately I didn't need to use it. Mains were served, a lovely piece of rockling with a slight crunch on the outside, a delicious herbed crust enjoyed with the tender fish. For me it was the smooth, creamy chowder that stole the show, this was so delicious and perfect for the coolish weather. Not too rich, the sea vegetables help balance any creaminess out and with bits of clam is a very tasty and warming meal.

Amazing atmosphere and lovely service - very genuine and attentive. As for the food, cannot speak more highly of the quality and flavour. Very good with dietary requirements too. The drinks were great!!! Some served in horns too. Our waiter recommended a cocktail and it didn’t disappoint. Amazing restaurant and an amazing experience.

Food was nice, and the place are really interesting. After watching the Vikings series decided to go to this Viking scene restaurant, it’s really fun.
M. T.
Came here for my belated birthday dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it 😀 we ordered the bone marrow, cured trout, whole snapper and bunch of other items. Food was amazing and the service was even better. Our waiter James treated us so well and made the experience so much more enjoyable 😊 It was my first time visiting here so I loved the viking decor and use of the fancy glasses and knives to pick out from. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my family and friends 🙂
a. m.
took my boyfriend here for his 20th, and it was genuinely the best meal i’ve had. big portions, the meat was cooked to perfection. our waiter for the night, Sam, was lovely, and even gave my boyfriend a handwritten birthday card and a deck of cards. would absolutely recommend the rib and the chicken!
R.
Went here for Christmas Eve dinner and we had such a feast! Would definitely go back again, waiters were friendly, food was delicious and the immersive experience was so different to be part of (i.e choosing your knife, horns to drink out of and norse/viking music playing) rate it!
L. N.
It was a great fun experience at Mjølner. You can emerge yourself in the Viking theme with drinking beer from a horn or choosing your dining knife. The wait staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was great. We missed out on the bone marrow so I guess we will have to come back again for that. Cocktails were lovely!
V. A.
The venue is so cool and the mead was delicious!!! We only had drinks but we had a great time!!! Friendly staff and cosy atmosphere!!! ☺️

Had a very exceptional experience at Mjolner.
The staff, very courteous, well spoken, and really made us feel welcomed — wish we got his name — he was maybe 170cm tall, blonde, wore a black long sleeve shirt took care of us and gave us enough space to experience and enjoy our meals. We attended on November 7 around 9pm.
They even prepared a lovely birthday gift and hand written card by all the staff which I felt was above and beyond.
The food was great and highly recommend.

Omg my girlfriend organised axe throwing then brought me here for dinner as a surprise anniversary present and it was a truly amazing experience, the cocktails in the horns were delicious and so cool. They even gave us a card and present of 2 shot glasses shaped like little horns, the waiter even had a Scandinavian accent. Highly recommended for a unique dining experience. .
T. A.
To say the service here was above and beyond is an understatement. My partner is in a wheelchair but is able to walk a little bit, the restaurant called with concerns as its not an accessible restaurant but we decided to try anyway. The staff helped get him in, they had given us a table with a bit more room and made sure we were comfortable. The service was second to none! Our waiter was fantastic and it meant our night was even better. The food was just amazing, I don't have words for how incredible that short rib was and the apple crumble waffle is to die for! Choosing the knife was so awesome and the shot to start the night was possibly the best start we've had to any meal. And the mead.....yum!! This restaurant is now our staple and we will definitely be back at least once every year (it's now our anniversary standard). It is on the pricey side but you absolutely get what you paid for, the food is incredibly good. Everything about Mjolner is amazing, even down to music - love those Viking drum beats. Skål!

This place has a fantastic ambiance... The food is good and the environment is so unique that it takes a while to realise you are here to eat! Had a surprise birthday party here with family and a few friends and the staff/management were kind enough to add a little something to the gift/cake that was delivered to them prior to the party. You will definitely remember the night, from the Viking horn beer glasses, to a flaming desert to the amazing decoration and artifacts on the walls this place is really memorable. Check out the pics...

Amazing atmosphere, food was very well presented and delicious.

Excellent Viking-themed restaurant, we had the most fun night. Kudos to our waitress/host, she really made the night for us.
From the Viking decor, drinking horn, choosing your weapon (steak knives) and whiskey luge, everything was done superbly.
Our favourite dish was the burrata and the bone marrow. Defo get the marrow if you are a whiskey drinker to do the luge with it. Also they have a fine and wide range of whiskey selections in house.
A great place for a special occasion and a fun night.
R. Z.
Such a great, fun, unique and must do dining experience. Great service and food and Viking themed great for Viking enthusiasts or anyone really. Lots of great little touches that make the dining experience a very fun special night especially if out celebrating something ☺️
J. L.
Amazing food, mead and very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Absolutely reccomend the bone marrow and the apple crumble waffle.
A. F.
The Viking theme is fun but gimmicky. The food was really rather average. Let me summarise:
Starting mead shot - nice touch and points for effort although it was very sweet
Bone Marrow was almost non existent with two large pieces of dry bread. The bone marrow was also cooked with Vegemite (which I asked about and it was confirmed).
The veal was quite nice but I probably wouldn't go back for seconds
Chicken main was nice but my home cooked roast chicken is on par if not better. Not much innovation here. Pretty to look at however.
The potatoes we simply boiled, peeled potatoes.....enough said.
The short rib was probably the highlight. Tender meat and good sauce.
Unfortunately, I wouldn't return to the restaurant although I can see that with the right company it could be fun.
M. N.
Very unique experience that you won't get anywhere else. This place embraces its Viking theme quite well from the food to the decore. Place is full of cool Viking decorations (think animal fur, armour and weapons everywhere).
Food is appropriately Viking "themed". Roasted bone marrow is good but a little bit fatty. The cool thing is you can do a whiskey shot from it. The wagyu steak is amazing as is the ribs. You can choose your own knife! Fish is so-so and the dessert is okay.
Overall the food is good but nothing amazing but the experience you get here is unlike any other.
b. j.
Shout out to our server Lilian for amazing recomendations and service all night. Our first time in Melbourne started perfectly. We enjoyed food, decor, service and just the whole experience was so unique and welcoming. Viking style is the way to go. Thanks to the whole team 🔪🗡️🍴
P. N.
You know how you go to a themed restaurant and the theatrics attempt to compensate for the food quality? Not required for this place.
The impeccable food and service makes the overall dining experience a must try.
From the rotisserie chicken, to the parsley crusted rockling and you can't forget the ice cream sandwich to top it off - all brilliant.
I won't even get into the knives and horns.
A spectacular meal awaits you!
K. M.
The location is a bit hidden without much signage or branding which I love as it feels exclusive. The vibe is rustic mix with modern bar. Great showmanship and cocktails, Viking style real bull horns to drink from. Tried something new - “mead” a sweeter honey base alcoholic drink substitute to the usual beer/cider.
The bone marrow is overrated and they could potentially come up with more bar food options.
I tried a shot of whisky dropped into my mouth from the fired up bone marrow bone - this was ok nothing special would rather spend on more cocktails than this. Looked cool though- good Insta material!
It is pricy! But I liked the experience and service was great. We were looked after well. Will visit again may be
I. M.
The food was delicious, the theme of the restaurant was awesome, with exceptional music and decor. But by far and away the best part of the experience was the staff. They were so attentive, knowledgeable and really pulled out all the stops to make our anniversary memorable. They even gave us a gift to mark the occasion (I won't spoil it). It isn't the cheapest place to eat but it was worth every dollar. Skol!
A. M.
What a great experience! If I could give more stars for this restaurant I would. The staff were super friendly and attentive, the food was Devine, the cocktails delicious and the theatrics that go with the experience was the icing on the cake! We even got a special dessert as the booking was for my boyfriend's birthday. The ice cream sandwiches for dessert were absolutely Devine. Highly recommend the feed me menu. Such value for money at $90pp, there's so much food. Definitely couldn't fault this restaurant and can't wait to return
H. N.
Had an amazing time here. The experience is to die for, the ambience is great and has a culture that draws you in. The cocktails were fabulous. I enjoyed the starters a lot and the mains were alright. Will definitely come back when given the chance.
N. E.
Food and experience was exceptional. Service was outstanding, staff were really great and never need to follow up anything. Well worth it, and would recommend.
L. M.
My partner and I decided to come here post our wedding ceremony to celebrate. Absolutely loved every second we spent here. The staff were all so lovely and friendly, making sure we were having a great time and offering great service, even offering great drink suggestions (special shout out to Jada who went over above and beyond). All the drinks were delicious and very fun, especially loved having a shot out of the bone marrow. The food was delicious. What a treat. Would recommend to all our friends and family
S. W.
It was really fun to celebrate my birthday here. Ambience is really fantastic, staffs are nice, food is good, they provide super nice complimentary shot in a small horn-shaped shot glass when we arrived, they also gave me some souvenirs for my birthday. It was really fun to get to choose my own "weapon" for the "feast" and drink from the horn. The only thing that slightly dissapoint me is that they don't sell the complimentary shot, wo we can't have more :(
T. “. C.
An absolutely fantastic night! The food was fantastic, mead even better and the decor really impressed! Our waitress (a Kiwi from Wellington, sorry I didn’t catch your name) was brilliant! Attentive service with great conversation it really made our night! The entire team thoroughly impressed and made our night one we will definitely be remembering! We will be back!
T. X.
We had the most delicious meal, set in a beautifully themed restaurant. Our waitress was super helpful from the beginning - recommending us some amazing cocktails and food.
Would definitely recommend the Gravlax, Veal Loin and tiger prawns. We also had their beef of the day which was super tender complemented by the perfect sauce.
Definitely need to finish the meal off with a bombe alaska - can't go wrong!
B. P.
Amazing night!
Took a few friends and clients to Mjolner to experience the food, atmosphere and amazing drink selection. The crew got into it and we drank beers from the horn, did the marrow whisky shots and selected our own knifes for steak.
Highly recommend !!
J. E.
I have celiac disease and it was catered to really well! The food was amazing and so was the experience! Having the mead shot and a bone marrow shot was really fun too!
J. C.
We got the banquet for 4 people and struggled to finish it. Beautiful setting and lovely food. Would recommend to a friend with hearty appetite.
A. M.
My partner booked this for us last minute as bit of a surprise as she had been before and oh my dayssss, the place is dope & what a cool experience! We were given a shot on arrival from the pallet cleanser section of the menu then proceeded to try a cocktail from every page whilst enjoying the unbelievable food. The smoked onion puree with the steak is one of the best tasting morsels I've ever had in my mouth and the short rib just melted! Not to mention the bone marrow which was insanely meaty n tasty, especially the whiskey shot through the bone after munching all the marrow!! We had desert too but honestly I was pretty faded by that point soooo, think it was pretty good though, hearty apple crumble like nana makes, can't beat it.
Service was awesome, host sorted us a cute little corner and arranged the shot and Lilian looked after us and was super attentive the whole time and had great recommendations and knowledge of the menu.
Will be returning asap to try the porchetta as it was sold out :(
R. C.
Mjolner could write the book on how to run a restaurant. The food, service and overall experience are just great. I mean, where else can you choose your Viking blade, or drink a shot whiskey from a bone?
Didn't catch her name, but the Italian waitress helped make our night even better yesterday. Some of the most entertaining and friendliest service I've ever received.
An absolute must visit for locals and tourists alike.
D. R.
To the NZ Mariah Carey YOU WERE BOSS! Made our experience amazing! And to Owen 😍 we forgot your name but you lived in The Hunter Valley. You were also amazing! And the venue, experience, food, drinks CHEFS KISS! Thank you all so so much!
L. M.
Food was great, loved the theme and staff were amazing and definitely make the experience worthwhile! The pick your own knife part is always fun and the whisky selection is almost intimidating!
A. C.
Stunning experience and fantastic food, the staff are extremely friendly - we turned up early for our booking, it wasn't an issue straight to a table. Highly recommend and we'll certainly be back
J. U.
Mjolner is one of, if not the, best dining experiences in Melbourne and Sydney. The food is consistently some of the best I've ever had, regardless of the dish. Their signature roast bone marrow sounds unusual but is definitely worth getting. The atmosphere is fantastic, and they've done a great job on the decor and music.
Mjolner is one of the only places I've found you can get good mead, and you've definitely got to try drinking it by the horn. Whilst I do definitely prefer the Mead stocked by the Sydney restaurant, Mjolner Melbourne's is still great. They also have an excellent whiskey selection, especially scotch. Drinking a shot of whiskey through the scorched cow bone from the Roast Bone Marrow is a MUST try, it's absolutely delicious.
D.
Had a amazing time here, the food is so magnificent and beautiful, the food was so incredibly good that I don’t think ever had good quality food until now, French kisses for the quality of food. The atmosphere was incredibly cool and awesome
Highly recommend coming here for those questioning about go.
Btw Mara was such a lovely hostess that I genuinely had a good time, she also insured that we were satisfied with our meal and experience. 5 stars she made it the best birthday I’ve ever had by far.
I’ll definitely be coming back again.
C. B.
Great experience, lovely food and service.

I love the relaxed feel of this place the authentic Norse feeling to it. like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The 3 course meal set out for our table was amazing. Everyone loved the food, drinks and experience. Service was well-timed and friendly, drinks were affordable.
M. S. M. O.
There's something absolutely spectacular behind those mysterious iron doors along Hardware Street - The food, the ambience and the whole dining experience are really memorable. Their Degustation menu is simply delicious, worthwhile and perfect for sharing. The warm ambience is wonderful for catching up with your loved ones and it usually is not too noisy to make it a romantic night out :)
Y. W.
Had a fantastic night at Mjolner, having dinner with my networking members. We chose their set menu and we had to say everything on the menu was very delicious. They also gave us a very good experience!
If you visit this restaurant for the first time, you'll be forgiven to miss the spot as their sign is not easy to see. It was just a giant wood door with stickers bearing the restaurant name placed on top of it, on a glass window.
Once you enter, there will be 2 different sections, underground and upper ground. It slightly feels like you are inside a dungeon.
The menu has many unique drinks on offer and sound quite dangerous!
Once you have your drinks and entree, the staff will come to you with a set of knife you need to choose to cut your meats later.
The main meals came a bit slow for us but boy, once we tasted them, they were very delicious! Our favourite was their beef ribs.
Desserts were really nice and not overly sweet. Overall, we had a very good experience here. Highly recommended!
S. C.
Where do I even start.
We booked for dinner with some family and the whole experience was amazing. The food is beautifu, you even got the opportunity to choose your own feasting knife to eat with. More on the pricy side of things but my goodness you get what you pay for. All the meals were beautiful, the meat just melted in your mouth. And they had a pretty good selection for entrees, mains and desserts.
One of the high lights was drinking either your choice of mead or ale from a horn.
M. I.
A very special restaurant in Melbourne and a great place to go for something memorable. Its not cheap, but the food and cocktails are delicious. And the experience is priceless.
When drinking your drinks from horns and carving your meat with daggers, it's easy to feel like a true viking.
T. R.
Truely a must for anyone who loves great food, great service and a real twist on standard dining.
The atmosphere and decor downstairs is unreal, love the ambient themed music, the little perks that make this place really stand out.
Dining here is an experience
Will be back again and again
J. F.
Simply a gorgeous and meticulously thought out venue, the more you look around the more you find as the attention to detail is next level at Mjolner.
From start to finish you are in for an experience, beers are served alongside drinking horns, you choose your own knives for the evening and their set menu has good value if you can't decide for yourself.
Favourite menu item is the roasted bone marrow devilishly delicious and amazing fun when you get to do a whisky luge after with the bone.
The meats are where it's at here, their short ribs are still burned into my memory and I'm looking forward to my next visit.
T. Y.
Amazing hospitality and ambiance! I held my birthday dinner here with three of my friends and we thoroughly enjoyed their service. Attentive, mindful and kind service is a rare find these days. Most impressive of all was their food to offer. Thank you so much to Mjølner for making my birthday extra special!
A. O.
I wanted this to be a 5 star rated restaurant such was my anticipation of dining here. It was a special occasion as we were dining with two American friends. The ambience, food, alcoholic drink options menu were all fabulous. The drop from a five rating was due to specifically to a poor customer service experience with one if the staff who behaved as if we were interrupting whatever it was he thought he should be doing. He verged on being rude to our friends. The downstairs area seemed to have a better ambience to it if you get the choice. Would recommend this place but hope you don’t get the host we did 🤔🤔
S. G.
We went here for my birthday. Had a wonderful experience.
The staff was quite friendly and shared some great backstory and titbits of information about the dining experience how to enjoy the experience like how the Vikings would. This like drinking your beer from the horn of a buffalo or choosing your weapons .. in this case a steak knife from a leather pouch.
The ambiance is there is quite amazing too from the decorative bow of a Viking ship to Thor’s hammer. It certain adds to the over experience.
The theatrical experience like drinking 🍺 from a horn was something I enjoyed. I thought it tasted a bit weird (not bad just a bit different).
We had the oysters and bone marrow for starters. The wagyu sirloin steak and the short rib for mains. The meringue and ice cream for dessert.
We loved the starters and mains the theatrical effect of the 🔥 dessert was amazing but I personally did not enjoy the dessert itself all that much.
One thing to know before going there is that they don’t have child seats. Also there is hardly any place to leave a pram near your table. I was aware of this when we make the booking but if you plan to go there with a baby keep that in mind.
We also received a birthday gift 🎁 which was awesome.
The overall experience was amazing and I would totally recommend it for a special event.
PS: the entrance to the place is easy to miss you are looking for a large wooden door with the Mjølner logo.
P. M.
Really good experience, the food portion size is a bit small especially if you share with big eaters. So I could have eaten more.
The staff were super friendly and really accomodating.
The venue decor is really well done, loads of interesting memorabilia placed around the venue. It can get really busy at the bar so if arrive early and end up waiting for your reservation, you might be better off getting there on the time allocated,or having a quick drink elsewhere beforehand.
There is a HUGE drinks list, serious selections of whiskies and wines - looks like that is their forte!!
A bit pricey, but an experience I enjoyed. Recommend
C. N.
Amazing all around. Spectacular food and unique atmosphere. If our kids had there way we would be here once a week......
P. F.
Great experience with fantastic food, drinks and amazing service... all the seafood and meat dishes were great... desserts were amazing too... definitely going back again
D. M.
Came here just for drinks. I enjoyed the Viking theme music playing in the background and the horns filled with beer. I expected more Viking theme down stairs to be honest. I felt as though the bar was missing the Viking feel.
Friendly service.
Haven't tried the food, so will definitely be back to experience that
J. S.
This place is awesome. If you get a chance to, go for it. Especially if Jenna is on and you will have a great night. For our 10th Wedding anniversary she made our night special and so awesome.
A.
Went a few months ago to try it out. Could not fault anything. Food, venue and staff were... awesome.
The dishes are designed to be shared. We got to choose our weapon of choice (to cut the meat with). Ordered the bone marrow, lamb, chicken, a couple of sides and dessert. Amazing!
T. B.
Had the set menu here with a group of 4 and everything was top notch. Excellent service, great food, really good flavours and a nice assortment of food and desserts.
The atmosphere has a cool, rustic and (naturally) Viking feel across both the upstairs dining area and downstairs bar. Will definitely be back.
H. L.
Came as a group together to celebrate. Went with the set menu. Quantity of food was great and most foods were tasty. The ribs and mushrooms were probably the stand out flavours. Drinks were served in horns, in tradition with the 'viking' theme. Atmosphere was good. Positive all round and is worth a shot
C. N.
Went here last night for the first time and I have to say it was bloody brilliant. From when you first find the door which is beautifully made to all the inner decor. I loved the whole Viking theme. Everything was carefully thought out including the meals, down to the cutlery and glasses you used to drink your alcohol. The novelty beer in horns, the pointed shot glasses for mead at the beginning, selecting your own knife for the evening as well as drinking whisky from Thor's Mjolner hammer. I mean, the staff were awesome, the cocktails were great, the food was fantastic. It's not the cheapest place to visit, but for all the entertainment and service, I really had a great night. Would definitely come back, and also recommend.

What a fantastic night. This was my first time to Mjølner and it was an unforgettable experience. We drank our way through the entire cocktail menu and nothing disappointed. The food was outstanding though the dessert selection was a little normal - would like to see something a bit more adventurous on there.
The environment is a real treat with an very Norse vibe and drinking from horns and using carved bone or wood blades as your eating knives is a very nice touch. The music was an odd choice (relaxed hip-hop style beats) which really did not suit the venue and does need to be improved.
The service was fantastic though things can be slow if a large group arrives, but its not the kind of restaurant you rush through anyway.
I'll definitely be back to Mjølner to try all the menu items. Thanks Simone for making our birthday dining experience unforgettable!

We arrived early and started at the bar downstairs. The staff we're friendly and knowledgeable, and the selection of spirits was excellent. The mead was also a winner,
When we were seated upstairs, the staff continued to be friendly and knowledgeable about their product. The food was magnificent, delightfully flavored and generously portioned.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone I know both living in and visiting Melbourne.

This place has been on my go to places in Melbourne for awhile. Booked early due to only 80 guests allowed in the restaurant however there is a bar down stairs. Had the banquet as more than 8 guest on the table which consisted of entree, main, dessert. We had a fussy eater which we let the restaruant know before hand and the amazing wait staff looked after her well. The food was delicious and not one of us could fault it. The decor of the restaruant is amazing, every where you look there is something new. Only thing to be mindful of was drink service was a bit slow but the staff looked run of their feet. However when we asked staff for drinks it was very prompt for receiving them. Definently returning here soon.

As a bona fide Scandophile, I was very excited about coming here for my birthday dinner. And boy, did Mjølner deliver. Warrior-sized portions of delicious food and drinks, in an amazingly theatrical setting with fantastic service to boot. Would give 6 stars if I could.

Because we loved the Vikings series, I looked up on Google if there is any Viking themed restaurant and I was ecstatic when I found Mjolner Melbourne. We were excited to come in for our booked dinner last week. The place is located at the far end of Hardware street and we were amazed as soon as we saw the entrance door to the restaurant and going up to the dining area you can feel the vikingy vibe everywhere. They have shelves of helmets, horns, knives etc and we were sat to the bar area. The book menu is quite unique as well as its tell a back story of the restaurant and about alittle bit of norse gods history. We were then served by a welcome drinks to toast for Valhalla and you gotta say “skal”. Lol anyway, there is not much to choose from their food menu but atleast they have vegetarian/dietary options. You have to order the main dish and sides separately. We had roast pork $60 (which was below average it was tastless and its all meat and they put alittle bit of grated apple as a salad) no sauce or whatever, steamed brocollini 6pcs for 15$, wagyu steak 75$ (average), and bite size potatoes 15$. For drinks, we had beer and we wanted to try it on the horns but they stunk. So we ended up drinking from the bottle. It was nothing special. The food is cleary overpriced and doesn’t justify its price. Quite disappointed with the food and didn’t even bothered to take some food photos. But the ambiance, customer service from arrival to check out is 3 star. Are we coming back? Never. Thanks for the viking experience though.

Second visit here and after restrictions had eased a little. Food menu was the same and as delicious as always but the drinks menu was condensed which is why we went to Mjolner. Still amazing but I missed some of the other drinks on the menu.
Very friendly and helpful staff as always :)

One of my favorites with a good amount of flare and theatrics with incredible food, drinks and service. Once you enter, it is a completely different vibe.
There's someone celebrating something every time I've been here.

LIVING THE VIKING LIFE FOR AN EVENING
Melbourne’s Mjolner Restaurant is named after Norse god Thor’s hammer and the Norse theme carries through the décor, menu and service – with a large dollop of artistic licence 😊
The dining room is upstairs and the bar downstairs in the basement.
The menu – either a la carte or tasting menu is not very extensive but offers more than enough to keep most diners happy. There is a good wine and cocktail list
The staff are just delightful, taking time to explain the restaurant and the menu. Although it was quite busy we were not at all rushed. We had a dedicated waiter for our table plus a roving waiter wielding Thor's Hammer and inviting diners to try it ... beware it is HEAVY!
It is fairly noisy (as you might expect for a Viking bar on a Friday night) but not so noisy that we couldn’t hold a conversation.
We couldn’t resist ordering a beer served in a large horn. Fortunately, the waiter gave us a quick lesson on how to drink from the horn without ending up covered in beer!
Soon after we’d mastered the beer horn, the waiter came back with a collection of knives that would be quite at home in a Game of Thrones banquet (see pictures below). The knives are very solid and a bit awkward to eat with but a lot of fun!
The food was very good and in very generous servings. We couldn’t quite manage to get through all the dessert and left feeling very satisfied.
The tasting menu (see the pictures below) is a fairly carnivorous affair (again in keeping with the Viking theme!) but had a nice balance of flavours and textures and does have vegetarian options.
People with mobility issues may struggle a bit here as there is a staircase up to the dining room and a staircase down to the bar (and the toilets).
Its popular and busy so you are well advised to book ahead.
Great for couples or small groups and has the added advantage of the bar downstairs where you can continue to be a Norse god and (possibly) get served a whiskey from Thor’s hammer 😊
Fully deserving of five stars

Mjolner is a Viking themed restaurant located in Hardware Street. There is no obvious signage outside the restaurant indicating where it is, so for first timers like me, it can be easy to miss. I think I walked past it 3 or 4 times before I realised the entrance was through the large unlabelled wooden doors. I’ve attached a photo so you know what to look for if you go. When you enter, you have the option of walking downstairs to the bar or upstairs to the restaurant. Throughout the restaurant and bar are displays of helmets, horns, shields and other items from the Viking era.
For starters you have a selection of 5 dishes for around $25 each. We had the oyster, roasted bone marrow and the baked clams, scallops and prawns. The oysters were fresh and served natural with lemon and a sauce. The sauce had bacon bits in it and was a very good accompaniment to the oysters. The bone marrow was served with bread and mustard leaf. We ate all the bread before we realised it would have be a good idea to use some of it to soak up the buttery sauce the baked seafood was cooked in. After we completed our bone marrow, the waiter offered us the option to drink whisky from the bone. Of course we had to try it. The bone was heated using a blow torch and whisky was poured through the crevice where the marrow was previously scooped out from straight to our mouth. We thoroughly enjoyed our starters and the whisky drinking experience.
Before our mains were served the waiter offered us a selection of knives we could use to eat with. I chose a large heavier knife as it appeared more manly. However, it was probably more suited to be used a weapon rather than for cutlery. For main we had the short ribs with white radish and chimichurri. The ribs were delicious and the meat just fell off the bone. The dish was $46 and was enough to share between two people. We accompanied our ribs with a side of baby carrots with spicy lentils. The carrots were tasty and an excellent accompaniment.
Finally for dessert we had the bombe Alaska with mandarin sorbet and flamed mandarin liqueur. The flames give the dish a theatrical touch and provides for a good photo opportunity. When you think the meringue is charred enough, you just blow out the flames. Desserts are around $16 and you have a selection of 4.
The restaurant/bar also has a selection of cocktails and beers. For the beer drinkers, try drinking your beer from a horn. This also gives you another photo opportunity.
For a restaurant that offers something different and good food, I would recommend Mjolner.

Waited 4 years to visit so I built up expectations! They were all exceeded! Excellent venue, staff, and menu.
L. S.
I can't rate Mjolner highly enough. Beautiful atmosphere, friendly staff, amazing food - and who doesn't love drinking locally-made mead from a horn?
I can safely say Mjolner provided one of the best dining experiences I've had, and I will definitely be back.
L. A.
Very cool atmosphere and interior design. Many Viking themed ornaments around the downstairs bar area and some for sale as well. Enjoy a beer in a horn and be careful not to spill it. Food was very nice and filling. Entrance was also very cool, very subtle feeling like you are in a secret club.
S. D.
One of my all time favourite places in Melbourne, everything about Mjolner is fantastic whether it be the wonderfully crafted cocktails to the superb decor.
Never had a bad experience here, massive shout out to the amazing staff there for making it an amazing experience everytime I'm there.

What a unique dining experience! Dining experience alone should be enough for you to visit Mjølner. I personally loved the overall ambience and Nordic decos that made me feel like I was dining with Ragnar Lothbrok from Vikings :) However, I did feel like this Viking-themed venue paid a little too much attention to the theatrics than the actual foods.
A few notable things about Mjølner:
- The waiter brings you a selection of knives to choose from before the meal. (Man, all the knives are exceptional looking!)
- You can drink beer from this badass horn
- Once you finish 'Roast Bone Marrow', you can take a whisky shot using the bone marrow as a funnel. (Warning: it can get messy!)
- Even your receipt looks cool with this pop-up viking ship!
Foods were good but considering the price, they could've been better overall. My favourite was Roast Porchetta which delicious. Overall, I felt like dishes were a bit bland but maybe that's how it's supposed to taste. Overall, I had a pleasant time at Mjølner :) Highly recommend!
A. C.
Drinking Mead from horns and choosing a hunting knife to eat dinner with was fun. The beef ribs were amazing! Pretty good value for money for the group feast, although we were pretty annoyed to see we were charged for 4 jugs of sparkling water even though there was no mention of there being a charge for it when offered freely by the waiters and continuously topping up water glasses.
T. G.
One of the most low-key/Loki fun restaurants in the city. If you feel like trying something exciting that focusses on key elements (fire, festivity, and protein), it's definitely worth a splurge.
V. K.
Absolutely brilliant. From the decor to food and drinks, the whole Norse chemistry works. Extremely polite staff. Definitely on the cards for a revisit. Thanks for a wonderful time.

Mara our hostess made it the best night out in Melbourne! Thank you so much Mjolner for accommodating a vegan so comfortably!! Xxx
M. D.
One of my favourite restaurants in Australia. Beautifully made food, bursting with flavour and umami. Its evident that considerable effort goes in to every dish. This is a theme restaurant without clichè, where the food and quality are always still at the heart of everything done. Bravo!

*THE BEST UNIQUE RESTAURANT IN MELBOURNE*
Words really can't describe just how polished, profession and tasty this establishment is. If there was anything i could fault, it would be that time passes too quickly whist there.
My friends and I randomly picked this place based on some recommendations from friends. I got there a touch early and was kindly ushered to the bar at the lower level. The Norse decor melds beautifully with the soft lighting and warm vibe. There was a thick book of original, unique and stunning drinks sourcing unique and quality products. As far as drinks go the Odins Brew was a highlight.
Once my friends arrived, we were guided up to our table and the incredibly friendly staff were engaging, knowledgeable and on point. With their guidance we selected a great mix of meat and vege that words would fail to describe.
One of my friends ordered the specialty and Thor's Hammer were shoulder strung and an inedible liquid flowed forth from its base. We were then left to take selfies and see if we were worthy to hold it.
We then tucked into what I can only describe as apple crumble waffle done to complete perfection :) It most certainly didn't last long on my plate.
The kicker to all of this and the reason I wanted to review the place is due to next level customer service. Our host has identified that it was a special celebration for me and to my shock and awe brought over a gift and card. It was the kindest and most amazing hospitality experience I have ever had. I will most certainly be back ! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, keep up the amazing work, you should all be amazingly proud.
J.
Was here for an early valentines dinner in February and it surely did not disappoint. My partner and I came on a Monday for the Tomahawk special... we ordered the tomahawk and some sides which were all amazing and the cocktails were on point also. Our waitress was extremely friendly and helpful throughout the entire night, she helped to suggest foods, amounts and drinks based on what we like so the service was exceptional. Would definitely visit again and the tomahawk was to die for.
C. A.
We ordered the "take home feast" during isolation to have at home. It was honestly fantastic, really good value for money, plenty of food between the four of us and then some (we had plenty of leftovers) and easy to make/put together with great instructions. One of us had the vegetarian option which was just as amazing and filling! Photo shows the food between four people (not including dessert yet). Made my partner's birthday awesome!!
J. L.
Good experience that you must try in your life. Drinking shots of whiskey from bone marrow, drinking from a horn choosing your steak knife. The food was okay but the atmosphere is what you're paying for.
J. J.
The attention to detail and the decor at this place is nuts, it is like a legitimate Viking hall. You drink beer out of horns, toast with meade and can order large plates of meat. The staff were super nice and friendly, the food was excellent, highly recommend the beef short ribs, porchetta and the cauliflower side dish. It was such a unique dining experience, fine dining with a down to earth atmosphere, can't wait to be back!
C. w.
Everything about this place is 5 stars! We were seated right away and given a run down of the food and drinks menu. Our drink choices: Northern Lights & Eric the Red. Both delicious, sweet where they were suppose to be sweet and savory when it was suppose to be savory. The salted chips that come with the Eric the red are incredibly delicious. Gravlax: Salmon for starters, the sauce set just the right flavor tones, I very rarely out eat my husband, but I devoured this plate. The short ribs are fall off the bone savory, I definitely recommend this plate if you're a lover of meat. We will be back and are looking forward to trying many of the other dishes that are offered.

Amazing experience at Mjølner last Thursday night - such knowledgeable and attentive wait staff, great food, incredible drinks and awesome themed furniture, staff clothing and decor. Definitely looks like a lot of thought went into the entire establishment.
Loved the small added touches that made the experience so memorable (I won’t mention specifics as it will ruin the surprise for future visitors)
The only thing that was lacking in our opinion was the choice of music....very contemporary and generic, rather than the Scandinavian folk/ambient sounds we were hoping for. I can understand not everyone dining might be interested in more authentic music, so it would be great if you guys did a more traditional night once a week/month with something like Wardruna playing in the background - would be the cherry on top of an already awesome experience.
R. S. (.
From picking your own knife to drinking out of a horn - this is a great place for a date night. Cocktail list is amazing. Would recommend the venison, but skip the potatoes as a side, not worth the money. Burrata is delicious. Receipt came in a pop up card just to end on a Viking-ship-made-out-of-paper high note.
J. C.
Awesome service and definitely very welcoming and attentive service.
Beautiful Viking setting , there is a downstairs bar as well. Went there for the first time to celebrate my husband birthday and definitely suggest going there again.
Loved it!
R. J.
First time here and we got in a bit early, just after 6pm. As a result we were the first to be seated at the restaurant and were well taken care of. The staff explained the concept and though the menu is not extensive, the food is hearty, wholesome and definitely delivered in more ways than we expected it to (flavour, varieties of textures and very well seasoned).
The best part is you can drink beer out of a horn and you get to choose your own weapon (steak knife with various carved wood/bone handles). Very attentive and efficient staff, special thanks to Derek who was a very gracious host tonight.
Thank you for an amazing meal, will definitely be back to make our way though the rest go the menu! Venison starter is a must try and so is the baby carrot & lentil side if you’re a fan of lentils.
A. L.
Mjolner is a place where you can will find a unique dining experience along with excellent food.
From the get go we were encouraged to perform a viking cheer with a shot of refreshing orange honey mead. From then on the experience continued with us having to choose our carving knives and drinking from horns.
The food was excellent as well, with a perfectly done aged tomahawk steak that was well complimented with perfectly seasoned bone marrow sauce.
We tried the gavlaxe starter which consistented of perfectly smoked chunks of fish, the fish was not too salty and retained its freshness, a nice foil to the heavy meat main.
For sides we picked the cauliflower and potatoes. The cauliflower was charred and roasted perfectly and we could cut it with a spoon.
The potatoes though tender and cooked well could not match up to all other dishes in taste. We ended up abandoning them for the more tasty dishes we ordered.
Overall a great place for drinks, food and an unforgettable dining experience.
R. L.
Very tasty food. The atmosphere is cozy and generally their adherence to a modern Viking theme is good. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
Really let down by music choice though. It is hard to immerse oneself in a Viking hall with American hip hop and R&B thundering away. There are so many awesome Viking themed bands out there.
S. R.
Absolutely incredible. I can't speak highly enough. The food, the drinks, the service, the decor, the atmosphere. Everything is just perfect.
T.
A viking themed bar? YES PLEASE!
I have been meaning to go here since it opened. Blink and you’ll miss it, there’s no obvious sign, just a wooden carved door. We went to the bar section for a quick drink to celebrate a workmate’s birthday. A great selection of beers, wines and spirits. Decked out very nicely, appropriately themed, but not to the point of it being tacky. Drinking beer from bulls horns was pretty fun as well. Listen to the lady when she says drink it from the side or you will wear the beer.
We didn’t have much food, but the bone marrow was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Fatty goodness.
The very cool thing that we did was drink a shot of whisky from the torched bone marrow, using the marrow bone as a tunnel. Very fun, and very tasty.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself at Mjolner and everyone should have an experience here. Unless you’re not a carnivore, then it could get a bit awks.
K. D.
Not a bad place, however, service, food and drink were all average.
My friend and I booked to have dinner at 11pm on a Saturday night - hardly any acknowledgement from the staff when we arrived; took several minutes to be seated. The waiter gave us a good description of the food and drinks.
Got the beer in a horn but had to pour it ourselves and the food was of small portions and average - not bad, not good.
Design and atmosphere was ok but probably wouldn’t go again.
A. C.
I took my husband here for his birthday, the meal was amazing and the atmosphere was a massive WOW! Defidently worth the trip.
c. m.
Awesome place to go eat, the food was great, our waitress was friendly and gave a very detailed explanation of the menu and the whole experience was so fun
M. L.
Food and service was good. The cake charge ($25) was a rip off, don't go here if you are celebrating a birthday.
As you can see below the management has asked me to contact him, which I have. What I found out is they serve $5 per person to cut your cake and serve it in a plate!!I also left the cake for the staff to enjoy. Nick hasn't responded.
W.
The drinks are well thought out and have depth. The food is full of flavour. Venue is attractive.
M. S.
This was definitely an interesting concept for a restaurant.... The food was amazing, the cocktails were divine and the staff were extremely helpful and informative. Overall, a solid contender on my "need to revisit" list. The hand written birthday card and gift my husband received when we were leaving was a nice surprise!
B.
Soooooooo awesome!!! Really great experience and the food was amazing!!! I will definitely come back. It was such a nice treat yo self adventure.
S. F.
First time here after looking forward to coming for a birthday. Booked up stairs for 3 and sat in the small side room in a dark black corner with no lighting. There was no ambience that people rave about.. Tried the horns which was novel. Beer selection was poor hoping to try the Scandinavian but it wasn't available. It was a 6:30 setting. Shot glass welcome drink was a great way to start ordered the fish which I really was looking for but sadly I didn't enjoy the snapper. The worst bony fish I ever had. Taste was OK but a let down. Service was OK not exceptionally. But then we were stuck in a dark corner. Overall a let down
d. o.
Everything from interior room deco to the time to pay the bill was a great experience. Every dish was delicious and to top up a few fun surprises along the way. Cant wait to come back
S. E. P.
Food Amazing, Experience Amazing and Customer service was second to none. Great for a group outing!
B. M. (.
What a fantastic venue. The dim mood lighting, well spaced tables and interest Viking decor set the scene for an interesting and relaxing meal.
The staff were awesome with a friendly and efficient service that was not overpowering offering pre-meal mead liquor shots, a wide choice of beers served in horns and helpful advice with the menu.
The meal was perfectly cooked and with a themed twist that made it a welcome change from the usual.
A real dinning experience.
m. s.
Viking theme bar & restaurant that didn't disappoint. Restaurant was fully booked so we sat at the bar. The staff were attentive and helpful. The Drink names and originality of ingredients are as intriguing to read as they are to drink. Food was so available, we chose The Trencher and highly recommend it. For a drink with a flaming creation to enjoy watching, try the Blazing Glögg. The alcohol is poured from one heated jug to another at a distance and you can watch the fire stream between both before its poured into yr glass
C. J.
We had a few drinks at Mjølner’s and will definitely recommend the Svas Blod (wine glass) and the Mimer’s Nectar (with the orange rind). The waitress was super helpful and gave us good guidance on what to order.
M. J.
The food here is absolutely delicious!!
What a great 'Viking' experience without being over the top. Short rib is a must try!
A. C.
Amazing atmosphere! There was all manner of Viking decor on the walls and on the tables. It was incredibly detailed without seeming ‘Disney theatrical’..Such a unique dining experience. Service was amazing and very helpful and attentive. Knocked it 1 star because the food was just alright and a bit on the pricey side for what you get. Stay away from the potatoes. Short rib was good though 👍
Z. C.
Both our bartender and waitress were really wonderful, very helpful with recommendations and knowledgeable on coeliac to provide me with safe gluten free options. The food was quite expensive and a bit weird, it left me feeling a bit sick, I suppose because it's not at all the kind of thing I'm used to eating. But I'll definitely be back for drinks, the mead was great, and the cocktails were lovely too.
It's a shame the bone horns still have a strong bone smell to them, I understand they're real but it made my partner feel really queasy drinking his beer.
All round a very cool experience though 😊
G. P.
The atmosphere is beautiful, the food is excellent, and the staff are so engaging. An absolute pleasure and I will recommend it to everyone I know who is going to Melbourne.

Great vibes. Good food I'd recommend the beef! It's amazing. And the whiskey. Had a 15 year old whiskey.

Great place to eat and great atmosphere, however when attending with a group, the menu isn't great. Don't get me wrong beautiful food but the amount you get is a bit of joke. Don't worry, you'll be given heaps of potatoes though. I'll only go again when I can choose my menu
A. R.
So far I'd say this is my favourite restaurant in Melbourne! Great atmosphere, theme and ambience, no to mention the food, and drinks menu. Very pleasant staff and I can't wait to have my birthday there soon enough. Highly recommend to the meat lovers and bearded viking affectionados :)

Such amazing atmosphere and customer service. Was there for 2 birthdays and they both received a card and gift. Renee was our waiter and she was extremely kind. The food was delicious, all cooked to perfection and a great variety. Highly recommend the $90 per person deal if over 4, lovely options with a great dessert as well. Free shot at the beginning too, pretty cool!!! Can’t wait to bring my whole family there

Absolutely amazing service. All wait staff extremely friendly. Food was absolutely incredible. Made our anniversary night that much more special. Thank to Christian and the other staff.

This place was awesome... in true Mjolner style it is amazing! If you love meat and good booze this is not to be missed
C. T.
Amazing experience - something interesting to look at everywhere, mushroom entre was surprisingly complex and beautiful. The main beast dishes were delicious but the chicken and fish were plain in comparison... yet the corn side was superb.
And the cocktail list had great names and potential but left a lot to be desired
So choose wisely and you'll have a great time

Good service, fantastic ambience, theme experience really great and better than the food which i found rather mediocre.

Our trip to Mjolner was a gift and it was absolutely outstanding. Our waiter James was fantastic and very accommodating, tolerated all of our dumb jokes! His recommendations were amazing! The vegetarian option was fantastic, the burrata to die for, and the steak was beautiful. Drinking cider out of a horn was epic and picking the knife was so much fun. Dessert was wild and highly enjoyable, overall 10/10!!!

Hidden away and nondescript on the outside. And everyone's Nordic fantasy on the inside. Cocktails that you've never heard of but are absolutely fantastic (Heimdalls Horn was a table favourite) and delicious food. We spent $400 for 5 people including drinks but my god is it worth the price. Not an everyday spot, but great for a simple celebration

Amazing and unique experience!! Very Good service and good value of money. The food is very delicious
C. H.
Amazing food. Amazing service. 10/10 would recommend! Such a beautiful place with a beautiful atmosphere!
F. J.
Mjolner was amazing. My partner and I went because it looked like a bit of fun, but thought it might focus more on theme than food. It turned out to be tastefully done and very high quality. The food and drink was carefully curated and crafted (and delicious), and the service delightful. I'd give them more stars if possible.
L. M.
Amazing as always! Love the decor, food was absolutely delicious and the staff are awesome!!
T. M.
An amazing night! The staff was excellent the food and drinks were outstanding! And I got to have a beer from a horn!! Get down to Mjølner the hottest place in Melbourne!
L. S.
I had heard about Mjolner and couldn't wait to go. When you find the door and enter this viking themed venue it doesn't disappoint. We went to have a few drinks before a dinner booking somewhere else. When you head downstairs you are presented with a fantastic looking bar & amazing staff. We were seated straight away and ordered cocktails. You can even get up close with Thor's hammer and order a beer in a viking horn. If you love something warm and strong try the Blazing Glogg. Can't wait to go back and try the food.
T. H.
Great place. Not just a themed restaurant. Amazing food. Slow cooked beef is epic!
A. A.
Went to this venue for a friends birthday - with everyone being so wary post COVID-19 restrictions, the restaurant took excellent measures to ensure social distancing were adhered to.
The restaurant itself was aesthetically pleasing complimented with the friendly service the staff provided. My friend specifically selected this venue for the abundance of beverages they offer (we had to download an app to view over 300+ options!) and we weren’t disappointed. The food... sensational and generous servings for sharing around. Thank you for being so accommodating and providing high quality service, food and drinks. I will be returning!
C. “. M.
Whilst the food was absolutely amazing, their Mead was the best! Even better when served in a horn! Our server was also awesome, sassy and clearly knew her stuff!
M.
MJOINER is an epic bar. Has a really epic Viking feel to it from the name and the sec u walk in the door would highly recommend this place the alcohol is pretty fair priced but the experiences what you coming here for him and some of the cocktails are just to die for and be Reborn in Valhalla! 10/10
J. M. M.
Well done! This place checks all the boxes. The food was delicious and full of surprises. Excellent service and setting. It’s a great night out.
C. M.
Great experience with delicious food and some great suggestions for cocktails!
H.
This place is amazing. Food was perfect. Atmosphere 10/10 and staff incredible, knowledgeable and kind. Spent my birthday here tonight and worth it. Thanks to Mjolner you made tonight amazing!! I have a food coma
M. M.
Amazing. Really unique and cool set up. Viking theme, but not over the top. We drank beer from horns, picked our knives, ate tasty meats and enjoyed numerous great cocktails. Price was very reasonable. Service was great. Cocktail bar downstairs is a must as well. Would 100% recommend.
T. “. B.
Come with a sense of adventure and a pocket book to match.
Mjølner wears the remains of Bridie O'Riely's well, and the place exudes a brilliant dark and intimate charm. The menu, along with snacks and some of the most exotic drinks I've had served in a bar.
Where you might think the theme would come through as tacky the results here are tasteful, and combine suits and fine dining with the sort of revelery you'd imagine in the drinking halls of Valhalla.
My pro-tip would be to order some Biltong jerky, and some mead from a horn to start, and ask for something on fire to follow - then continue drinking mead untill you're singing and ready to go home.
N. R.
Went for my viking mad sons 18th Birthday. Was not disappointed. Service and the food was fantastic. My son got a birthday card and gift from the staff. He was lost for words. Can highly recommend.
A. I.
Cosy bar with Viking/Norse theme. Great cocktails with plenty of bite!
l. h.
Amazing food and drinks! Great theatre and true to viking feasting.
R. S.
We did the set menu ($90 p/h). The entrees were good. The mains (chicken, beef, fish) weren't as good. The chicken was dry and the beef needed the sauce which was difficult to get off the plate.
The dessert, an ice cream sandwich was lovely.
Left feeling I had had a range of nice meals and well fed.
B. D.
Amazing experience! Amazing food! Amazing service. If I could give it 6 stars out of 5 I would.
I highly recommend. Words cannot even describe it
Thank you to the staff for the thoughtful gift for my husbands birthday. We will definitely be back!
Skol Vikings, let's go!

First time at Mjolner!
But we had an excellent time. The vibe was warm, the Nordic music was awesome and the aesthetic and feel was top tier. We had no trouble whatsoever and Kim was an excellent host to us. They made us feel welcome, appreciated, and were the standout of the night next to our delicious mains (Short Rib was incredible). Please let them know they were wonderful and seriously made our night. Will definetly be coming again soon ;)
G. B.
loooooong wait but the servers were nice and the menu was quite unique. the food was alright.
P. B.
We had snacks and drinks in the downstairs bar. Great theme! Definitely fun drinking beer from horns. Great choice of beer, spirits and cocktail. Great friendly staff. We had the trencher and bone marrow both were great although the bone marrow despite tasting fantastic is a touch small but the rye bread was amazing and they offered more if you needed it. The trencher was great and filling. A touch pricey but worth it for the experience and obscure food. All in all a great experience!
M. L.
Great atmosphere and a different dinning experience to most due to the Viking theme. Food was generally excellent apart from the chicken that was dry. Service was slow, taking 30 mins before drink and food order was taken. Then towards end of meal we were rushed because our table was booked. Had they told us of the time limit and been faster to take our orders this wouldn't have been an issue. However, ultimately left happy due to the generally awesome food.
M. S.
Went there for a friend's birthday and the service was amazing! On top of giving him a birthday card and his own little present, my partner and I were catered to as Vegan/Vegetarian. Beautiful and delicious food. My Vegan main had a sauce that I didn't quite like but the entrees and desserts were outstanding. Wonderful flavours.
S. C.
What's find, open those big wooden doors and go in. Drinks menu is super cool but they'll make you the standard drinks too.
Very friendly staff.
S. M.
Delicious food and a fabulous atmosphere. Wait staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Thoroughly enjoyed having my birthday meal here!
C. J.
Great service even better food and drinks. Do yourself a favor and book a table asap!
M. Y.
Ridiculous and spectacular setting for a restaurant. Menu is largely meat based. Tough to find the door but delicious and very friendly staff.
H. F.
Awesome atmosphere, and awesome food!
S. J.
We were made very welcome on arrival. Staff was accommodating and friendly, and really provided a Viking 'show' without being tacky. Everything was tastefully done. Very cool atmosphere - dark, but edgy. We had a great time and will be back. And the food is to die for - I had the venison, it was extremely delicious!
L.
I ordered the Vikings feast for two and one bone marrow whiskey luge and a cocktail. It was a surprise for my fiance . Delivery was timely, well packaged ,complete with easy to follow preparation notes. The food was 5 star and plenty for leftovers. Well done indeed !
B. P.
Great atmosphere and fantastic food. The wait staff were friendly and service was excellent.
While it's on the pricey side, the experience is definitely worth the money. Drinking mead from a horn and doing a whisky shot from a bone are both things I've never done before and will happily try again.
I would definitely recommend ordering a selection and sharing around, as everything we ordered was delicious
G. S.
Loved everything about it. Amazing food. Good service. I especially liked the "Choose your weapon" (steak knife) thing.
K. N.
What an amazing night out. Food was excellent ( & very generous serves). The staff were excellent. Created a lovely atmosphere. Would absolutely go back
C. J.
From front door to table to restrooms, the whole experience cultivates a sense of atmosphere with just the right amount of kitsch. (Think food daggers and drinking horns.) Lovely attention to the discussion surrounding food and drink. Beautiful presentation of tasty meals with complex flavour combinations. Multiple vegetarian options. An expansive whiskey list and a cocktail menu with character. Overall, a delightful night. We made a reservation for the early evening, which may not have been necessary. By the time we left in the late evening, the dining room was pretty full.
K. C.
We arrived early and excited for our booking at Mjolner, and so glad we did. Our table wasn't ready so we spent some time in the bar downstairs, which is a gem and not to be missed. Atmospheric and comfortable, with friendly and knowledgeable bar staff, a great place for our first horn-drinking experience. Upstairs the atmosphere is very different. Staff were still excellent and the food was amazing but they're working with limited space and huge popularity. It was very crowded and difficult to get in and out of our seats. We had the set menu and we're glad we did. It includes dishes we may not have ordered otherwise, and enjoyed immensely.
S. M.
Absolutely phenomenal! Incredible food, wonderful drinks, and staff that go above and beyond to ensure you're living your best life! Jenna was a delight! 100% recommend and will reattend!
C. S.
Wow, what a special night. The team at Mjolner made my partner and I's anniversary so special.
Kim was an especially wonderful host to us all night, and all of bartenders and chefs were incredible too.
We got a free shot of mead when we arrived, had a shot through a blowtorched bone after eating the marrow from it, the most amazing whisky I've ever tried, a flaming rum cocktail, and not to mention every dish we ordered was so incredible that I wish I had two stomachs!
I also loved listening to the deep music and admiring the Viking swords, horns and sheilds throughout the night. And they even gave us a wee anniversary gift before we left!
Thank you for an unforgettable night Mjolner! We will definitely be back again.
A. D.
Fabulous! Eat your delicious food with a dagger and drink your beer out of a horn!! So good! Staff are exceptionally nice.
A. K.
It was tasty with good service and so authentic atmosphere. This place I’ll remember :)
E. G.
Very tasty meat dishes and entrées. Cool atmosphere with drinking horns and knife's!
e. w.
This place is divine. Went there few times now and every time the food is amazing and the waitress are super nice. Few hiccups last time we went but things happen and they fixed everything straight away. It is an amazing experience
M. H.
An amazing dining experience the food is beautifully presented and tasty. The restaurant is incredible and very cool
A. L.
Amazing Nordic vibe, awesome drinks, food and service. Mead on arrival, beer in a horn, drinking whisky through bone marrow and much much more.
Highly recommend
T. W.
Fantastic Setting, Brilliant Atmosphere, Brilliant Food and Drinks, Friendly staff who go above and beyond and really bleed the brand. Quite expensive, but the quality of the food and the whole process of the location is well worth the cost. Best place for groups or adult birthdays.
M. L.
Had an amazing birthday dinner here tonight. Incredibly fun experience, service from everyone was so friendly and energetic and the food and drinks were delicious!! Really enjoyed the skal at the start and the beer was great. I would highly recommend the slow cooked beef short rib - talk about melt in your mouth! At the end of the meal I even got a lovely surprise for my birthday 😬 would definitely return to eat and check out the bar downstairs which looked very cool.
N. B.
Awesome vibe and staff. Service was incredible. We were two vegetarians made to feel super comfortable in a mainly meat serving venue. Although there was only one vegetarian main it was unbelievable and we'd happily return for it! Scottish front of house staff member, thank you for looking after us!
J. R.
Absolutely loved this place. A little pricey but atmosphere and food delivered. Highly recommend!
d. m.
Mjolner Melbourne was absolutely fantastic, excellent service, beautiful food (with vegetarian options which were delicious), and great atmosphere. We arrived about 10 minutes before opening but they were lovely and seated us early (we had a play to get to after). It was a very quiet that early on a Tuesday afternoon, but it was perfect for our first official date. It was awesome to see them leaning into the Viking feel without making it gimmicky. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. Definitely give yourself an hour and half or more to really soak up the experience.
M. d. V.
The atmosphere is superb. Heavily themed without being cheesy. The food was incredible! It's not often I can't finish a meal, and as much as I wanted to keep eating because it was so delicious, I was simply outdone. Super friendly staff. I highly recommend Mead from the hirn and the bone marrow entree
S. S.
What a fabulous place for a special night out! Roast pork with crackling, charred Brussels sprouts and delicious potatoes made for a wonderful birthday meal. Our waitress and waiter were great. Cocktails were amazing! Very impressed with Mjolnar.
A. M.
Great dining experience with wonderful food and awesome service. Melbourne's newest restaurant is well worth a visit.
R. B.
The place is incredible. The design of the restaurant including table settings, artefacts and decorations on the walls are beautiful!! The food is delicious and perfectly in theme with everything else. And the drinks are delicious and wonderfully creative. Especially exciting is the ability to drink mead from a horn. A beautiful place for any celebration or just some drinks well worth going there
M. H.
My partner and I were made very welcome on arrival. The whole experience felt like we were in Valhalla. The bone marrow with the luge shot is amazing and can highly recommend the steak and ribs! Can't recommend this restuarant enough, gone several times and will continue to come
R. B.
Absolutely loved this bar. Perfect for small groups so many nice seating nooks. We sampled the bar menu everything was delicious. I can't remember what it was called but we had a giant bread loaf that was filled with bits of meat and herbs and we shared a meat and cheese plate. Great atmosphere and every staff member who served us was lovely and efficient. The viking theme is really fun and the cocktails were delicious, reasonably priced and really different to anything else we have tried in Melbourne. It was quite refreshing to try some cocktails that were unique.
T. K.
Awesome cocktails and great selection of cured meats. We will be back 😁🍸🥃
A.
Excellent and unique service, tasty food, loved the atmosphere, would visit again and introduce to others!!
K. C.
Food was fantastic and the selection of beers and whiskey were great. Felt a little touristy for what we wanted but certainly would go back for a special night or some sort of event. Can definitely recommend. Certainly loved the bone marrow with the whiskey shot.
R. G.
Such an interesting dining experience! From drinking out of horns, getting a whiskey shot through a bone marrow and picking your own dining knife. Food didn't disappoint. Both service and attention to detail was fantastic! Would definitely head back again.
D. B.
Wow. I went here for my Sister's birthday and cannot wait to go again. The theme teamed with the well trained staff serving you the authentic Viking food will make you feel like a Viking Warrior leaving their 'Victory of War' banquet. What a merry experience.
K. L.
Had a fantastic time at Mjølner last night! I would highly recommend everyone experience Mjølner, it’s like no other restaurant/bar. The staff were all super helpful, nice and knowledgeable about the food and drinks being served. They made our night extra special with a shot each, a horn shot glass and nice card as a gift as we were celebrating a birthday. The food and drinks were all amazing I don’t have a bad thing to say about any of it. Definitely a great night out!
F. T.
Do yourself a favour and have a night at this incredible place - before it gets too hot to get in! Incredible service - our waiters and waitress were informed in every detail of the menu, friendly, helpful and awesomely dressed! Such a kick to have a Viking-esque server! The drinks were next level great - served in a horn (if you want!) and utterly delicious! The food was divine - I’m a vegetarian and I had one of the best meals I’ve ever had the pleasure of consuming. The meat dishes looked incredible as well, and the portions more than satisfying. The decor and ambience are brilliant - really makes you think of all things Vikings and medieval! Even though the menu is small they have absolutely adopted a “if you’re going to do it, do it well” attitude and it more than delivers.
I was amazed to learn that this place has only been open for five weeks, so get in quick as I predict this place will be too hot to get a seat very soon!
Thank you all at Mjolner for a truly memorable experience for my friends and I!
K.
Went here last night for a long overdue catchup with another couple. Can I just say, we were blown away. Takes dining to a whole new level/experience. Everything from the fitout, decor, menu and service really was outstanding. The waiters/waitresses (our main one, Teagan was a doll) were very good at what they did, we allowed ours to order for us and each dish that was dropped off was explained with detail and tasted so damn good. The theatrics around the drinks were engaging, some expensive but you get what you pay for in my opinion. We paid $320 per couple but that’s for a bloody decent feed and a ton of cocktails, spirit mixes, beers and really, a fabulous night. Worth every penny to us! Well done on providing a new, quality dining experience - in today’s competitive hospitality industry, I think they’ve really set the bar high for other casual but fine dining restaurants. Well done 👍
L. S. (.
if they've got the porchetta, you gotta go (check their Insta)
Top stuff: bone marrow (pour some whiskey down it and drink the leftover juices), cucumber (so fresh), apple crumble waffle (the other desserts are fine too)
N. L.
Great Food but hated how we were 15 mins late and had to miss out on desert. Had to eat quickly- rushed out the door. A staff member looked like she was annoyed at us. I would like to go back again (not Covid restricted) and see if there is a difference.
V. R.
Absolutely loved the experience at Mjolner!! Took Dad for father's day and he was blown away! They really went above and beyond to look after us! They even cater to vegetarians and vegans, and the cocktails and desserts are phenomenal!! Will most definitely be back, thanks so much for having us!
P. D.
This place is amazing. I've been twice, the first time was incredible. The service is really good, the atmosphere is also amazing, the decor is impressive, and the horns add a nice point of difference. The second time however was a bit average, waited over an hour and a half for a meal that I had pre - ordered at around mid day that same day (1kg tomahawk) which was also average. They had also run out of mead which I guess can't be helped, but my brother had travelled from new Zealand for his birthday dinner, so was a bit disappointing none the less. Other than this I'd still say this restaurant is a 5 star experience and I recommend everyone comes here to try it.
s. a.
Amazing food and cocktails. The bone marrow luge is a must!
R. R.
Came here for a quiet birthday dinner for 2, immediately greeted which was great! Was tenderly handled by a great Scotsman (Kerr I think his name was?) who not only kept checking in on us, But gave us a good laugh and shared with us his adventures! We've been to some pretty cool Viking restaurants in Sweden and this reminded us of our own adventures! Food was awesome!! Had some stout in a horn and admired the notch work of the blades of choice! There never felt like there was a rush; which is pleasant so we can enjoy the time we had! Good job mjolner and wicked job to our Scotsman too! Give a special thanks to him, he's a hard working lad.
R. B.
A fantastic experience. Great wait staff. We were seated at the bar and were attended to diligently. Awesome option of deadly knives and a great menu. Try the venison for entree and pork for main. To die for... we will be back for sure
D. B.
Decided to give this concept place a go for our wedding anniversary and we’re so glad we did. The downstairs bar is dark and moody with a drinks list to satisfy any taste. The beer horns are novel and are super fun to drink from. The cocktails are bang on. The whisky list is huge and the wine list is great. The wines are listed by colour and (cleverly) by taste - a great idea! Upstairs to the restaurant where the tunes are fun and the fitout is bang on.
The food was hearty and beautifully presented.
The staff are fantastic - extremely knowledgeable, friendly, professional and welcoming. We were presented with a hand written card and a horn shaped shot glass each, superbly packaged, as an anniversary gift and a thank you for dining with them. Such a surprise and a beautiful way to round off what can only be described as the perfect night to celebrate 15 years of marriage.
Thank you, Mjolner, we will definitely return to pillage your menus again!
H. S.
Awesome experience. Pricey but totally appreciate the effort that goes into building this place, creating the menus, picking top staff, running the place and just being awesome. Definitely recommend. Love the restaurant and the bar downstairs was fabulous too. Didn’t want to leave. Frog cocktail was soooo good!
S. A.
From the second we walked into the moment we walked out was spectacular. If I could rate Mjolner 20/10 I would. The services was amazing and the food was out of this world, I'm still dreaming about it. My partner and I were celebrating our anniversary and as we were leaving the staff gave us a hand written card and 2 of their signature shot glasses. I have never received such amazing services before.
100% recommend!
T.
The staff are absolutely amazing! Gave us a parting gift in celebration of a birthday! The atmosphere and food were hand in hand with each other and so welcoming, fantastic and just plain awesome.
Definitely great for big or small outings :)
S. J.
A slightly mixed bag experience. The food, atmosphere and decor were all positives for us and collectively, we had a great time at Mjolner; however, the service we received at times was pretty poor. Stood waiting in two different areas while people walked past and around us. When we were noticed by the right person and seated in a really cool little alcove, we had the $70 a head sharing option which was portioned nicely and gave a great selection of each dish. The novelty of choosing your own knife and drinking from a horn is well utilised by the restaurant and fun for the patrons.
There was a bit of a delay between courses (long enough that everyone at the table was wondering if we’d been forgotten) in which no-one offered us another drink and I eventually had to leave our area and head to the bar to ask for drinks. Additionally, when one of the group politely asked our English server when the approximate time of the next course would be, he was patronising and rude. Generally, his attitude was that a busy Saturday night entitled him to be disinterested and dismissive.
A decent evening but when paying that sort of money for a themed restaurant, one expects better service.
T. D.
Highly recommend Mjølner. Atmosphere and food was fantastic. Not your 'traditional' type of restaurant. Will definitely go back again.
S. R.
Mjolner is an incredible restaurant with a gorgeous decor and amazing staff and vibe. We began at the bar where despite it being very busy the staff quickly found somewhere for us to sit. We received complementary waffles (best I've ever had), and drank mead out of a horn. The staff were fantastically friendly and attentive, and never gave the impression that they were too busy to talk (the mead with orange blossom was lovely, as was the wild apple cider). The Norse-themed cocktail list was incredibly interesting and the descriptions actually excited me and made me want to try them all.
At the restaurant, we first spoke to Nick who I believe is the manager. He explained how the menu worked and gave recommendations for the meal based on what we liked. He was incredibly friendly and charming, and he introduced us to our waiter for the night, Kurt, who was the same. We were given complementary Skal shots to begin our night which were delicious. I ordered the venison for my starter and it was fantastic. For main I ordered the short rib and wow I was impressed. It was an actual entire shortrib - not just a portion. Served with white radish and chimichuri it was probably one of the best beef dishes I have had in my life. My partner being vegetarian ordered the vegetable dumplings and they were excellent too. Before eating however, we were asked to pick our weapon - the knife we would use while eating - from a knife roll. This added a lot to the experience and shows that the staff want the patron to have fun whilst having an excellent meal.
At one point in the night, my partner offhandedly mentioned it was my birthday, and at the end of the meal, a birthday gift was brought out with a beautiful handwritten card from the staff that featured a pop-out Viking longboat. This caught me off guard and blew me away. I have shown this card to people and they are equally as impressed. Mjolner gave me a very special birthday evening that I won't soon be forgetting. Something that stood out to me was that even when offering fine dining food, the restaurant and staff bring a beautiful Viking theme without at all feeling tacky, and they bring staff that truly make you feel at home and among friends. There is not a single ounce of pretentiousness in this establishment that you may find at other restaurants that serve this quality of food. Mjolner presents an example of a restaurant more concerned with giving a fantastic experience and making the guest feel great than simply filling seats and making money. The front of house staff have matched the excellent standard provided by the cooking team and I cannot wait for my return.
To all involved in making Mjolner what it is - thank you for a very memorable and very special evening.
J. L.
The lady serving us went above and beyond. She was great with our 4 yo daughter, and we came away with a few souvenirs and will definitely be coming back for the amazing food and drink.
N. M.
Blew my mind! I was not expected such an amazing vibe within the restaurant and bar. The decor is amazing. Staff were fun and cheerful and the bar attendant making cocktails goes above and beyond! I will never forget this night.
N. R.
The experience from start to finish is just fantastic. From getting to choose your weapon from the waiter's satchel of knives to the food - beast, bird or fish - to the pop up card you get with your bill. Recommend having a cocktail downstairs before eating - preferably one that comes in a horn.
m. c.
Had the most amazing experience. And I say experience and not meal because going here truly was like being transported to a feast hall. We had two wonderful staff who took care of us, Nick and Sabrina. They were well informed and really helped us cultivate this wonderful experience. Would absolutely recommend the bone marrow starter as it is delicious but also you can do shooter with the bone after you’ve finished with a whiskey of your choice. Overall staff 10/10 food 10/10 atmosphere 10/10. I’m so excited to go back to Sydney to try out their other location!
b.
Love the atmosphere here, some very interesting artifacts to look at whilst waiting for your food. Found the table for two to be too small and both of us having beers in a horn takes up a lot of room - I was hoping for the food to be exceptional, however overall it was good at best- the gravlax was excellent and the venison was somewhat ok- very subtle flavours. For mains we chose the short rib and the pork special both were also ok- the sides were cucumber with a yoghurt type dressing and the charred broccolini- the cucumber was basic but a nice freshness to go with the mains. The broccolini was offensive and inedible, it tasted like had been dropped in ash that left a very unpleasant taste in the mouth - when I brought this to the attention of the waitress, I was told that she has had it before and that is the way is supposed to taste.. it tasted like cigarettes smell? Overall we had an ok experience, which is what you pay for - wouldn’t rave about it and won’t be going back anytime soon.
E. W.
Went here for a laugh but turns out the place is amazing, even the horns are real. Extra shout out to the bartender who made the place that much better
C. H.
Beatiful venue and the food is incredible. Service was great too, love all the efoort the staff go to to make it an enjoyable dining experience.
Although the music did not fit the environment at all! So much effort into creating an authentic nordic setting and then playing modern hip hop the entire time. And the tables were quite dirty too, had not been cleaned in a while.
But overall, it was a great experience and I highly reccomend it.
G. M.
I've been to Mjølner twice now and both times have been excellent. The service is exceptional, with incredibly knowledgeable staff who can answer any question about the hundreds of beverage options they have. The menu is very meat heavy, and you can't go past the aged tomahawk.
Also, drinking beer out of a horn is a must.
Highly recommend.
E. F.
Food was good, maitre'd was good and friendly, the waitress was capable but did struggle a little (native Italian) so had to 're explain a request. Sadly they were all out of mead (at 6.30pm when we arrived). I was with friends who have been to Sydney shop and were disappointed by experience in Melbourne. Food was not quite as good and more fine dining which is contra to the theme of the place. Disappointed there was no whiskey list provided and staff didn't offer any but there was a good selection locked away. Music was entirely wrong last night. Well wide of the mark.
S. S.
Absolutely amazing experience. Fantastic food and the drinks were so well matched. Thank you Jenna for making our 10th anniversary so memorable.
T. D.
I cannot share enough how amazing the at home feast is. Ordered it for my husbands birthday on the weekend being another celebration we had to share during lockdown I wanted to make it special and the team at Mjolner exceeded! A fully immersive experience at home! And so easy to put together!! Will definitely be in when they reopen ! Thank you
S. S.
Thankyou to the team at Mjolner for the very special and memorable experience we had on Saturday night celebrating our anniversary. I really could not fault any of the dishes we ordered- I was sure I wouldn't like the bone marrow dish but even that was delicious and not like anything else I've ever tried. The baked shellfish entree was superb, the braised short rib was fabulous and the roasted carrot and spiced lentil side dish was very under rated, I could eat that every single day. The dessert (mandarin bombe alaska) was just perfect and the two cocktails I drank were well balanced and very moreish. My partner sampled some whiskies from the very extensive list and enjoyed the obligatory mead served in a large horn. Our waiter (a young Scottish fellow) was delightful and attentive and the hand written card and the shot glasses we received as a parting anniversary gift was a very thoughtful and classy touch. I will be recommending this place to absolutely everyone!
K. W.
The beef short rib and bone marrow was amazing. Plus they gave us short glasses as it was our anniversary! The potatoes were okay as I prefer crispy potatoes, broccolini with the capsicum sauce was also tasty. If you like vikings ambience this place is a must visit!
P. S.
Definitely an experience worth having. Food and drink menus range from eclectic to semi-normal and short ribs are amazing Hostess and waitresses are welcoming and help the experience, except for 'S', who pretty much ruined the whole experience the way she booted us from the table due to another reservation coming in soon... your experience may vary, but dropping over $300 on a meal for two shouldn't end that way.
L. J.
Had an absolutely amazing night! The food is delicious and the whole experience was really fun. Great wait staff, music was a little loud / a bit weird (loud hip hop in a Viking restaurant was slightly unexpected lol) but we did get a late 10.30pm booking. I’ll definitely be back ! The bone marrow was divine
E. T.
Everything about this venue is perfect. Perfect atmosphere, extremely knowledgeable staff, a cocktail list to rival all but the best cocktail lounges. And the food!! Prices are steep but absolutely worth it for the quality and taste of the food. Worthy of the God's themselves!
A. T.
Mjølner is officially my new favourite restaurant. The service is among the best- the wait staff are energetic, friendly and their recommendations are on point. The atmosphere is intimate, electric and fun. The food is something to phone a friend about- the clams are mouthwatering and I’ve never eaten a more perfectly cooked pork crackling. It is such a unique, fun and enjoyable venue to wine and dine at. I can’t brag enough about this place. Do yourself a favour and go there.
J. A.
Great place for a night out. We went there for our anniversary last night, and could not have picked a better place. We have been wanting to go there since we found out they were opening in Melbourne and only just got around to it last night and were no disappointed,
The staff were absolutely amazing throughout the whole night. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was beautiful. We would both highly recommend.
We were there slightly earlier than our booking and the staff were more than happy to seat us early and wait while we decided what we wanted to eat (it took a little while) as it all looked great!
E. M.
I cannot rate this place enough! I was there for my birthday and it was easily the best dining experience! Nick was incredible with his hospitality and knowledge! Made us laugh and always made sure we were looked after! The vibe, the food, the drinks, the setting and theme beat all my expectations. If you haven’t been here - go now!! They go above and beyond! Thank you
C. P.
Food is amazing and the staff are super friendly.

Fantastic customer service, great vibe, incredible decor, and ridiculously good range of drinks! A true place for Viking-lovers! The only thing that I would think could make it the best place ever is to play actual viking-style music to add to the vibe. Other than that, it's my favorite place and I can't wait to go back!
K. W.
I'm glad I wasn't paying as this place is very expensive - $80 for a slab of meat and then you pay extra for sides such as potatoes, etc. Three of us shared dishes so we got a range of different foods, all very nice. The thing that really really ruined the Viking vibe was the hip hop music. Who thought that hip hop and Viking went together? It doesn't. It really doesn't, and I didn't enjoy hearing "mother f**ker* while eating. Come on, now. Find some decent music, preferably instrumental.
T. R.
SOOOOOO GOOD !!!
Customer service was beyond compare
I am a man of few words
Please go here and experience this

Great themed restaurant with sumptuous food and nice vibe. Nice theatrical approach to dining. Great welcome from front of house and detailed explanation of the menu etc from an attentive waitress. Would have been five stars except when it came to paying the bill, the formerly attentive waitress brought the card machine and then disappeared. We had issues with the machine and had to call over a different member of staff who then also disappeared. Eventually, after we had printed off the receipts ourselves we had to hand the machine to a member of the bar staff so we could leave. It seemed to be an end of the night (Sunday) 'can't be bothered, want to go home approach. Shame as everything else was superb.
D. H.
Service staff were super helpful and polite, food was amazing. If you haven't drunk Mead out of a horn before you need to come here. If you have drunk Mead out of a horn before then you're going to love this place so come anyway!
T. J.
Great ambience but food was a bit of a let down apart from the prawns and dumplings - Pork and Chicken just a touch under which spoilt it slightly. Didn't order the steaks so can't comment on those!
S. G.
Was a fantastic experience, all the staff and decor made it. Was impressed by our waitors knowledge of all the whiskeys they had available. Drinking from horns was a highlight . Great evening out.
A. F.
The staff were incredibly friendly and obviously having fun! Shout out to the host who served us with enthusiasm and energy that was contagious!
Great drinks, great people, great atmosphere!. Will definitely be back!!
N.
This place is amazing. The meat, rare to find mead, Scandinavian ambiance and staff are all top notch. Melbourne needs more of these type of restaurants. Very unique experience. Highly recommend the Son of Odin mead and the feasting banquet. Will definitely be coming back to buy a drinking horn and to try out the bar downstairs. Thanks for an unforgettable night Mjolner!
A. C.
Excellent themed venue! Food was excellent although a tad expensive
S. W.
Absolutely Breathtaking dinner for our mates 23rd - Byron our waiter, made the whole experience perfect. Great night! Lots of fun! Insanely delicious food and drinks !! Would recommend to anyone for any occasion!!
B. V. W.
Partner took me here for my birthday. As an avid history lover i was rapt at the theme, the atmosphere, the drinking horns and the selection of food and drink. They even gave me a thoughtful card and gift.
10/10 will probably come here again next year
D. C.
Love this Place, really enjoyed the atmosphere here. The staff here make this place stand out, when we first walked in Nick was really welcoming and although I booked for another night by accident he managed to fit us in, plus he is a very energetic and passionate about service person. Down at the bar Josh was amazing with his knowledge of cocktails to help us get a cocktail to suit our needs. Our waitress we had was also really good I think her name was schania or something like that, I do apologise for not remembering as it isn’t a common name for me. The experience was something I have never had before from drinking ale from a horn to the selection of knives to choose from to eat my meal. Well done. I will definitely be coming back and bringing more friends with me.
N. F.
Really Cool design of the restaurant, Viking themed where you can pick your own steak knife and drink your beer from a Vikings horn.
Staff are extremely friendly and nice, I ended up tipping them because they were that great !
J. B.
Stopped in at 10pm for a late dinner after a show at the arts center. The full menu wasn’t available this late but we were able to order some Mjolner signature dishes in the downstairs bar. We had the bone marrow and the trencher- basically bread filled with beef stew. We then drank scotch from the hollowed bone and had a flaming cognac with spice. So much fun and nice central location.
D. B.
I think a 3 star is fair for my evening at Mjølner. I booked Mjølner as I love Norse history and I was looking forward to some horned beverages and meaty dishes. The beer was excellent (although on the expensive side - and I drink a lot of craft beer) and the trencher was fantastic. We were all going to order more food but changed our minds given the experience we encountered. I booked a space for 20 people for my work farewell drinks. It was booked by email and I spoke to the events coordinator by phone to confirm. I booked it for 5pm and there was no discussion about a time our booking would end. It was open ended and I told the staff member that I would be ordering food before hand or on the night. When we arrived, we were taken to the back of the bar where there were 3 large tables. It was a great setting. The staff member who showed us to our tables said we had the whole area. This would be perfect as we could stand around and sit if we wanted to. We were greeted by another member of staff who brought us the menus. He also informed me that we would need to leave before 8pm as there was another booking for that space. This was the first time I had heard of this. I told the staff this and how disappointing it was. Immediately three colleagues left because they were waiting 20 minutes to get a drink. They said they would
Try and work something out for us. We were moved to the middle table section, high seats and tables. When we sat there we were told that we had to sit down. They brought around a complimentary shot of a mead-like drink for some of us, which was nice but having to sit like this meant I couldn’t speak to everyone I wanted to and missed an opportunity to say goodbye properly to my colleagues. People were moved to the area I had originally booked and then before 8pm, they closed that section off. So there wasn’t a booking there at all. The bill at the end was extremely high for the large group that I had so I was stung by people going up to pay without paying for everything. I can’t help but feel that pay as you go would be better for a bar. When we left I spoke to the original member of staff who was apologetic and nice about it all saying that he had hoped that I had enjoyed my night still. I said I did and we left on good terms, but now that I think of it, a fair chunk of the group left earlier than expected because of the cost and the layout. We were unable to chat, other than to those opposite or next to us, making it quite a disappointment. The food was nice, only having the trencher though and the beer was fresh. Staff were friendly but I can’t help but feel that they should have amended their policy of only allowing people to stay longer than 3 hours if they paid, in this instance. This was not told to me at the time of booking and although this was a mistake, it was quite strange that the 8pm booking did not exist regardless.
L.
You still haven't been to Mjolner...?? What the f are you waiting for? Order a beer..receive a horn 🤷💃😅 I just missed a bit of Epic rock!
L. P.
If you love Vikings and Scandinavian culture, this is a MUST! I went for dinner last week with my boyfriend and we simply loved it. Food was amazing and the staff was even better. We got to choose our own viking knife and drink beer from a horn. Also, they have viking tools and decorations scattered all over the place (loved the stern of the ship hanged over the entrance) and beautiful Scandi style tables. Definitely going back!
S. N.
The service was amazing and the feel of the restaurant is perfect. The food was delicious, probably the best meal we've had in a while. Everything was explained to us while we were looking at the menu and again as our food was served.
E. R.
Literally cannot fault Mjolner! The waitresses are incredible and super friendly. The food is superb and the atmosphere is exactly what you want for a Viking inspired restaurant. I even had cider from a horn. Would 100% go back again. The short rib is devine and melts in your mouth
A. G.
The experience was interesting, I thoroughly enjoyed the food and was catered to as I don't eat meat or dairy (I eat fish and it was perfection) it really was delicious! The 6 of us got the set menu and we all were very happy with food and drinks. The only thing that ruined our night was our rude waitress who refused to explain anything twice over the loud music(which I loved btw)as 'she had already explained once' , so anyone hard of hearing , bad luck. 'S' the rude witch never once said excuse me as she pushed and bumped into my two girlfriends constantly to get plates and glasses making it extremely uncomfortable. Being barked at and treated so rudely after dropping over 700 dollars on our table is not on and I think if you don't like working in hospo, then don't. I understand people have bad days but this was unforgivable and to be frank a bloody joke.
G. W.
Second time there absolutely fantastic night will go again
G. M.
Ordered the Viking Feast to eat at home during lockdown. Wow, restaurant quality to the table. Easy to follow instructions, excellent packaging, Cryovac beef short ribs were amazing. Music playlist tied the whole thing together for a thoroughly enjoyable evening....skal
C. J.
Superb!!! I love everything about this place from the pic of the kives, the drinking from horns right to the food and cocktails. Oh and have to mention the service, top notch.
Y. B.
Very good service and great ambiance. Love what they are doing in terms of decor and props to eat and drink with. Unfortunately the food was not what I was expecting. It is a little on the pricey side for what u get. We ordered about 5 dishes however there was not much taste. However the lamb and pork was deascent.
If you enjoy rare meats then I'm sure you would be happy.limited options available and would not been a good place for vegitarians.
N. Z.
Definitely a unique experience, food was ok. Place to visit once. I’m adding more to this review to be fair: I ate downstairs - upstairs was full. I was looking for dinner and ended up trying to eat bar food for dinner, downstairs. So I think i was downstairs for the wrong reason. I can see now the bar menu is designed for people wanting to sit and drink with a group, I had the bone marrow and stew in the bread, which was heavy and a tad on the salty side. the fatty food designed to line your stomach so you don’t get drunk, practices in many cultures. I did say to the gentlemen At the door I was there to eat dinner as was ushered downstairs. I think I will come back to try upstairs and see how the dining experience is, photos looks promising. Downstairs - definitely not for dinner.
J. H.
Went here for a bucks party. As soon as we entered the massive wooden door this was a fun and enjoyable experience. Selecting your own knife, drinking ale from horns and the AMAZING food, this was an experience we won't forget and couldn't recommend enough!
P. K.
The food was amazing, the customer service was like she couldn’t be bothered, had better things personality from Mc Donald’s drive through.
M. R.
The Viking theme they are trying to cultivate is interesting, but the menu seems to be written by someone who has seen pictures of Nordic food but never tried any.
The service staff are friendly, but for the restaurant price I would expect them to be more competent, don't go there if you have food problems because they don't seem to communicate that between staff.
T. b.
Absolutely worth the prices. Very polite excellent service, dishes were amazingly presented and very good portion sizes. P.s don’t get the dessert menu as you will spent a sh*t load more on souvenirs. 10 stars
S. M.
I turned up 15mins before opening time and got some attitude from the guy inside, I wondered why they leave the door unlocked if they don't like people being early. Fortunately another staff member redeem them when we turned up later in the night, he was funny and very helpful. The bar food was fairly nice but I have it on good authority that the resturant upstairs is a lot better. The beer drinking horns are a cool novelty albeit slightly high maintenance. Overall it's a good place but my impression was tained slightly by my initial experience.
P. R.
The best restaurant experience I've ever had. Drinking mead, beer out of a horn, and whiskey shots down a femur luge.. topped with a hearty meal. If you're coming here get the banquet and feast like a viking! SKOL!!!
G. C.
Finally a restaurant that is both show and go! There are theatrics involved but at the end of the day the food is good and unique.
Historical accuracy note: I believe Vikings did not listen to hip hop while eating but can not confirm.
O. S.
My friends and I have gone twice and both times it has been an absolute pleasure. The food was delicious and excellently presented, and our waiter Byron was not only friendly and accommodating, but also very knowledgeable and funny. Absolutely stellar service, would recommend and will definitely be coming again!

Tucked away in hardware street in the city this place is very interesting. It creates a viking experience where the waiters/bar tenders make sure everything is an experience. Each drink comes with something special be it a blowtorched piece of orange rind or a spritz of the ocean or a flaming herb and the food was all excellent and served on big sharing platters. It all made for a very enjoyable experience
G. G.
Recommended drink would be the Blazing Glogg which is a very warm, sweet and spicy drink. They will heat it up by torching it in front of you.
Recommended dish would be the roast bone marrow. A side gimmick they offered was to torch the bone once we finished the dish and pour whisky down its length to drink.
Did I mention you get to drink of of horns and feel like real vikings?
f. n.
Amazing meals! I know this isn't everyone's cup of tea but the bone marrow is so so so SO good! And everything else is pretty every day food but made so well and I would not say that it's expensive for the quality. It's also got that nice dark, romantic, mysterious ambience that I love!
s.
This place is so amazing, the staff are not only super friendly but they know their stuff when it comes to liquor and food info!!
Such a great atmosphere and great scenery all around. Plus drinking out of a bone war horn is so cool!
P. T.
Had a great experience here over the weekend for my partners 30th birthday. The attention to detail and ambiance was impeccable. She received a hand written birthday card with a viking shot glass which was the cherry on top. Thank-you for a great night to the team at Mjolner!
L. G.
Amazing service AND food AND drink! Keep an eye on what you say yes too as the bill can quickly rack up, esspecially in the whiskey bar down stairs. Amazing place and will deffo go back!
H. L.
Awesome vibe, great food and drink.
Went there for a friends birthday and they went out of their way to make her feel special. Great stuff!
B. K.
Best service, amazing atmosphere, and delicious mead.
Food prepared to perfection.
Will be feasting here again for sure
L. B.
Great themed restaurant and great service and food.
H. L.
Absolutely outstanding! One of the most memorable dining experiences I’ve had in Melbourne. Service was exceptional, the staff were extremely knowledgeable and accommodating especially for dietary requirements.
Food was incredible 👌🏼 I would highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion!!
5/5! ⭐️
J. F.
One of the most wonderful dining experiences I've ever had in my life! Friendly and knowledgeable staff, amazing chefs, and wonderful food and drink!!
S. W.
Great food, good drinks and an awesome place
L. W.
Really really cool.
Loved it.
Epic atmosphere excellent food very authentic to the Viking era. And staff that explain it all to you.
What more could you ask for. Will be back
D. P.
Absolutely wonderful kitsch! You get to drink beer from a (real) horn, select your own (hunting) knife to cut your meat, and eat portions of (deliciously) prepared meat harty enough to satisfy Fenris. It's pricey for what it's served, but (when you're in the right mood) worth it for how it's served
R. C.
Awsome place to have my birthday dinner. Very impressed with the authentic decor.
L. U.
Celebrated my partners 30th birthday here and couldnt reccomend it more. The food was delicious, the staff so nice, atmosphere so amazing, I will be coming back for future events, it truly is just an amazing experience to have. Thank you team!
D. G.
We had a big 15 people birthday table booked in the bar!
They did not accept payments for our drinks right away when we ordered them
At the end they gave us a big bill asking each person to pay for their drinks: for a $800 bill and they expect some drunk people to remember their drinks (if you've been there youl know the names can't be remembered)
For the people who remembered and payed their share, the staff wouldn't split for us to check what drinks are left to be paid for
Eventually the birthday girl had to shell out $150.
My partner says there were 2 men in one cubicle of the mens toilet and he could hear them talking and bubbling sounds like someone smoking ice.
The service was pretty poor too.
I must admit my first experience was good when I was here with only my partner but definitely do not recommendat for big tables
A. T.
Amazing staff and atmosphere, delicious food with massive serving sizes, plus you get to drink out of a horn! What more could you want?
N. F.
Drinking a tasty beer out of a bull-horn made me change the way I look at consumable liquids. Why aren't they all served in bull-horns? Could democracy be letting us down in any way?
Since drinking exclusively out of my bull-horn, I have lost 12kg, and become an expert axe-thrower. Would recommend.
L. N.
My fiancé and I went to Mjølner for dinner, and overall it was a great experience. I loved the Viking theme and our waitress provided a pleasant service. The entrée (bone marrow & clams), main (beef ribs), side (cucumber salad) and drinks were yum! I didn’t particularly loved the fish, but it was still ok to eat.
It wasn’t until the end when it was time to pay the bill that we saw a different side to the waitress.
A thank you card came out with a cool pop up of a Viking ship. I liked it so much I asked our waitress if this was something customers were allowed to keep, and her response was ‘well you can but then you’ll be taking the experience away from someone else. So I’ll let you decide.’ Um.. you could have just said “I’m sorry but these aren’t for customers to take home.” I thought that was uncalled for.
D. M.
Very professional and intimate service. Food was filling and serving sizes were great. Drinks served in horns and whisky shots down charred bones was fun as well.
J. L.
Will definitely be returning in the near future. The food is simply delicious. The staff are very attentive. Also check out their bar downstairs. Highly recommend you try the mead. Overall a must for food lovers.
B. G.
Amazing experience with the best service, great atmosphere and delicious food. Was a brilliant night!
j. s.
What a banging venue! Great cocktail list, beautiful decor and food to die for. For reals. Try the clams, try the cauliflower side dish, try the short rib.
Try. The. Clams. You will not be dissapointed. The service is fantastic, its just an epic place. 10/10 will be back xx
C. P.
Excellent food and fantastic service! They were able to cater to a variety of weird and interesting food allergies even with a set menu.
N. V.
Food was incredible, service really impressive and personal and the atmosphere and ambience was amazing. If you are in Melbourne, you must go here
J. W.
Food was great but our waiter was rude and we had to keep getting up from the table to find him. Then he literally told us to leave and go to the bar downstairs where staff were good. It is supposed to be Viking inspired but the theming ends with tokanistic bear horns and leather aprons.
I. T.
This place is awesome and is a must try. Grab a beer/cider and drink out of a horn, choose your own runic knife from a leather bag and just eat great food overall. The bone marrow is a staple and the wagyu just melts in your mouth.
L. W.
Wonderful welcoming experience. Not rushed and 2 hours is the perfect timing for dinner and dessert with drinks for two. Novel yet not trashy. Loved it.
M. L.
Yaaaa... with... Naaaa...
Yaaaa...
Theming & menus unique, fun & interesting.
Marrow with a whiskey luge certainly unique. Bombe Alaska... flamin’ awesome.
Naaaa...
Seating not comfortable (if you’re over 5’4”)
Mains choices & quality... ok... not great. Price perception high as a result.
Service requires... um... accuracy? Forgotten/slow drinks, mis-communication of orders & bill simply wrong/not checked (15% over errors!) - under staffed or under skilled, not sure...
Worth a look for the unfussy & for a bit of fun.
Just go in researched & keep ‘em honest.
S. K.
My bucks party took me for dinner and they knocked it out of the park. Drinking from horns, eating with huge carved knives and the best meat I've ever had in my life made this place deserve 10 out of 5 stars. Props to the staff who were as helpful and accommodating as they were badass. Skol!
E. C.
Best restaurant experience ever!!!!
Callum was the nicest and coolest waiter ever in the world!! The food was amazing and so many yummy drinks ! 💕 Great night !!!
J. M. J.
We've been here twice now (edit: 8 times and 9 coming up and still love it!) and absolutely love it. The staff are so lovely & fun, food is amazing, venue is stunning. We'll keep going back! Skål 😊
C. D.
If you are in Melbourne for a day or a moment, you must visit Mjolner! A modern twist on A Viking theme. A drink to the gods to begin, choice of knives for meals and theatrical drink and food options. The service and knowledge of the wait staff was iimpeccable. Food quality was very high and portions moderate. First time and the most enjoyable memory!
A. M.
Very nice Nordic feel! A bit going on with horns and knives selection but overall great, very tasty with a simple menu. I highly recommend the potato.
Staff are at the top of the game!
C. D.
The best restaurant in Melbourne right now, hands down!
I would write a lengthy review, but it would spoil the surprise.
Go. Love it. Tell your friends. And write a really good review when you're done :)
B. P.
Significantly fantastic food. Amazing drinks. Service beyond what we expected. An atmosphere you will want to stay at for the whole night. Go to this restaurant.
B. H.
Mjølner is not just a restaurant but an experience. The food was fantastic. The staff are fantastic and theme is very cool.
P. N.
Went there lastnight and the food was incredible! Such a vast product knowledge from the staff and everyone there was very friendly. Lovely little bar downstairs and very cool layout of the whole place. Would give 10 stars if I could!!
R. “. J.
Bar waiter was extremely not interested and rude. Restraint staff were phenomenally good. Food is unique and experiential made better by outstanding service.
Very rich food.
Very good service (apart from bar)
Great vibe
D. P.
Want to say a massive thank you to the staff at Mjolner tonight for the impeccable service we received. The food was incredible, the staff couldn't have been more friendly, and the gift & card my girlfriend received for her birthday truly made our night special. Skal!
B. T.
This is a fantastic restaurant! I took my partner here to celebrate her birthday in style and was extremely pleased, the Viking themed dining experience was spot on from the moment you enter and are seated to your table sharing a SKAL together, Mjolners own way of a Viking greeting. The food and drink options available where perfect, with many symbolising the old Nord ways. Ingredients selected and prepared for special cocktails, dishes cooked in representation of the Viking age from Danish, Swedish, Nynorsk, and Icelandic world culture. The staff where helpful and there menu knowledge was great when selecting. To top it all off they even went out of there way to give my partner a surprise present that she could take home! Best dinner out in ages! Love to come back here!
T.
Great atmosphere and great food! Would recommend and will be going back asap.
J. C.
Amazing restaurant with Viking vibes.
A. S.
Amazing staff, awesome atmosphere We had our two year anniversary here and it was one of our most memorable nights. Don't walk past the Mjölnir on the door, get in and enjoy a horn of beer!
M. R.
Great food, great atmosphere, great service. Viking themed (drinking beer from horns, daggers for knives), without it detracting from the eating experience. Also a fantastic selection of whiskeys.
M. S.
Loved every minute of my experience here. The atmosphere, the staff, the food, everything was just brilliant. Thanks for looking after our group, I can guarantee we will be back.
S.
Rye porridge with mushroom was delish
J. B.
Lovely experience, amazing food and staff will be back with more friends. You truly get to experience what it’s like to eat like a Viking with a great selection wines, whiskeys. Thanks guys.
S. G. W.
Excellent whisky selection 🤌🏼🥃
r. l.
Upstairs10/10 : A real treat! Surprise elements all through. DELIGHTFUL touch for our B.Day girl and meat SOH tender & tasty. Downstairs 1/10.
6 customers 5 staff but no drinks! After 30 minutes we went upstairs.
(sent away from bar 3times. " we will come to you " They Didn't.)
k.
The food is good and the bar has a nice selection of drinks but Mjolner is overrated. There is a smell in the area downstairs and it makes the space feel unsanitised. Will try it a final time before dismissing it completely.
E. U.
Favourite place in Melbourne ❤️ Best food and staff
R. P.
What a great fun idea this is... What would modern Vikings like if they were about today? Turns out it's not all drinking from horns and meat... There's time for celeriac puree and bombe Alaska too! Loved it. Would feast again.
L. A.
Service is always fantastic as is the beautiful interior. I absolutely live for their cocktails & the food is always on point. I especially love the gravlax!
S. A.
Always exceptional in both food and service. The decor and attention to detail in this venue is craaaazy, highly appreciate all the work that goes into this place, such a great experience. Only come here on special occasions but always worth the price. The mead here is outta this wooooorrrrllld omg someone pls hold me back.
L. H.
Quite expensive, but very much worth the money. A really really cool experience. Food was delicious.
A. E.
Superb dining experience! Awesome food, drinks and service.
R. G.
Unbelievable dining experience. The perfect place for my anniversary evening. Well worth the price, we will be back when we save up again! P.s the short rib is to die for!
J. F.
Everything is delicious, let the staff walk you through it. Order a cocktail 100%. You can share a main and soke starters and sides, or get a main each (if two) and have a side to share with starters. Look get your arse here
C. Y. (.
Very expensive, but DEFINITELY worth it. Dont come expecting a cheap meal, but you will leave with a full belly and some major WOW, a total dining experience different to anywhere in Melbourne!
A. A.
Love this place!!
Delicious food, fun and great staff.
Highly recommend definitely for a weekend dinner night out!
S. G.
The place was amazing! Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Food was also carefully thought out and not only looked and tasted fantastic but was inline with the whole theme.
L. H.
We had an excellent time here. Very good staff, friendly happy and efficient. Food was great, very earthy flavours - beer from a horn and a desert lit on fire was awesome!
H. G.
Great ambience and a very unique theme, of course the food and drinks are going to be more expensive, but I felt that they were a tad overpriced. Else the staff were friendly and accommodating and it's must visit place.
l. c.
Unique atmosphere and experience. really enjoyable and fantastic food. The service was some of the best we've had. Will return and recommend!
C. L.
The good:
Great venue
Decent food - the short rib was fantastic
The bad:
Food took too long to be served
Slightly overpriced for the portion sizes
Average service
R. H.
Awesome viking-themed restaurant. Great cocktails, fun viking-inspired service, impressive food and even a pretty good vegetarian option.
H. M.
The food is quite decent, but it wasn't exactly the 'authentic' Viking experience we were expecting. Given the hefty size of the bill I think it was a one-off thing for us.
C. C.
Amazing food, service, and decor. Had the beef brisket - perfectly cooked. Viking theme lots of fun but not tacky. Will come again.
