One of the best Italian joints in Melbourne! The Prosciutto pizza is to die for. And the ribs - oh my goodness. Capped off with a couple of world class desserts - the cheesecake & salted caramel buns were amazing 🤩

What a great little find. Just happened to stop by when passing and I’m glad I did. The staff are a delight and very helpful with suggestions with the menu for drinks or food. Both turned out perfect. I received a little sampling plate to accommodate my drink which was in addition to my other little snacks. I would love to return and try a few more of their tasty morsels when next in town.

Lovely staff, great atmosphere, especially downstairs for late-night cocktails when it's quieter. Probably one of my favourite places to settle into for a long night. It's not everywhere in Melbourne that has a cozy room, great staff, good spirits, great wine and good coffee, all in one place. Couldn't have picked a better spot for the first night out of lockdown, to be honest.

First we were trying to go to the other restaurant Arlechin, but they were full. They referred us to Ombra. The guy walked us to Ombra, just to make sure that we would get a table. Very impressive. We took all the recommendations what to order from the guy who was serving us. Everything was delicious. However, the portion I’ve found slightly a little bit too small. We really enjoyed our dinner and experiences. Very outstanding customer service

Pizzas were spot on. Thin and charcoaled to perfection. My only complaint was the music - is this medium/fine Italian dining or a party restaurant? The Proclaimers? Seriously? I think the playlist needs a lot of refinement as it’s a statement to define your restaurant.

What appeared to be a small cafe from outside, came out to be a winner. One of the best coffee in CBD. It was lunch time when I went there with two colleagues. We only ordered coffee and it was fast and staff not at all furious. All smiling and courteous staff. I will update this review after trying food here.

The food is so delicious and the service is very friendly. The waiters/waitresses are so chatty and comfortable to talk to. The ambience is chilled out. The only flaw was the desserts. They are very delicious but also quite sweet. We couldn't finish them. But overall experience is just fantastic.

I really really love Ombra. Every time I have lunch here, I leave completely satisfied & happy. All the staff are incredibly knowledgeable about the food & wine. Not just superficial information but the provenance of the food & wine including grape varieties & how they have changed over the years. Really impressive. We usually have the tasting menu & it is always sensational. The chef's selections are superb & the delivery of their fabulous treats is always perfectly timed. Whether you go in the very busy lunch rush or arrive later in the afternoon, the staff are always welcoming & attentive. I am already looking forward to returning. Thanks Ombra for a fun afternoon. 😆

Highly recommend the kingfish sashimi and the meatballs. The salumi and cheese platters were great too but wish they came at the same time! Surprisingly, the highlight was the fresh bread!!!

Beautiful, fresh, honest food. Staff who were the most attentive I've ever experienced, without being obtrusive. I sincerely wish I'd taken the time to study my bill, because the opportunity to tip was right there but I missed it on the night. I'm not a tip-every-table diner, far from it, but the exceptional service at Ombra should have been recognised on my behalf. Next time, I'll be more aware. 110% recommend.

This is a new fav of mine. The staff are fantastic - we let them order for us as we couldnt decide and it did not disappoint. The food is delicious and fresh - bonus for the freshly baked focaccia.

Delicious food at a high price tag. It's a bit expensive for what you get (the Salumi selection is $40 and you only get a very small amount of sliced meat). Atmosphere and staff are lovely. Lots of tables with stools, most with fixed which are pretty uncomfortable after half an hour. Try and ask for a table upstairs that has standard tables and seats!

A nice romantic salumi bar. We went the sharing menu for four people and it was definitely enough food for the table. I would love to take home the Grossi olive oil. It had such a tasty robust flavour. Also the prosciutto had to be my favourite ever. It was so fresh and tender that it melted in the mouth. The mussels was a highlight on the table as was the pancetta pizza. Look forward to going again.

Another melbourne staple that screams italian city bar/casual dining. I love their small menu and their pizza’s are great. But the wine list and cocktails always has me stopping for a quick lunch/afternoon wind-down beverage. Service is great too - friendly and casual.

Out with the missus & looking for somewhere for a quick lunch and we popped into Ombra. What can I say; straight forward Italian cooking done really well with a great (and not pricey) wine list (actually, we liked the wine we drank with lunch so much we bought a couple of bottles to take with us). Standout dish for us (it was a light lunch) was the gnochetti with salami 👍 Defo recommend.

This place was amazing. Small yet not squishy, staff were friendly and checked up on us, very pretty with the dimmed lights. Given this is a Grossi venture it's really not surprising that it's good. An absolutely fabulous wine list knowledgeable and keen staff and a simple but tasteful fit out. The large table upstairs by the front window is worth booking if you have a group of 6 - 8. The view out the front is great and the table gets good attention given the staff use the stairs right by it to get up and down. It's also a plus that there is a taxi rank just two doors up. A very easy place to get home from after a drink or two with dinner.

There are a handful of places to eat in Melbourne which are so good and reliable that we go back to time and again - Ombra is definitely one. The food is excellent and regularly updated, so each time we visit there's something new to try. The most recent flavour sensation was a mini calzone of leek and gorgonzola. It was scrumptious, like a savoury donut with its sprinkle of coarse salt instead of sugar (so good that I had to urge staff to make a range of flavours for the mini calzone). The drinks selection is also very good. With my very bad back, I do have a painful time on the downstairs stools and the music is a bit Gold FM, but these are minor complaints in the face of everything that's good about Ombra.

Ombra is an excellent little eatery on Bourke St. Very good tapas-style plates. There are some other reviewers saying that they were charged for extra plates - this was not the case for our visit. We recieved some excellent complementary nibbles. The house prosecco is insanely good. Recommended!

My husband and I had dinner at Ombra on Friday night. It was absolutely spectacular. How lovely to be greeted by such friendly waitstaff; our waiter in particular was very charming. We had a table on the second level overlooking Bourke Street. We ordered the Mama's menu and were not disappointed - a beautiful range of salumi and bread for first course, followed by some delicious scallops in half shells. The margherita pizza was divine, both my husband and myself commented on how sweet the passata was. Coupled with the crispy base and fresh basil, the pizza was very memorable. We also enjoyed some roast pork with a simple rocket and parmesan side salad. Dessert was also amazing, the salted caramel profiteroles were fantastic! Our waiter was well versed in wines that he thought would accompany our meal; we are now on the hunt for the beautiful Spanish wine we enjoyed! Thanks for such a wonderful experience, we're looking forward to making Ombra a regular stop whenever we visit Melbourne. Grazie mille.

Discovered this place last week and I will definitely be back - great cocktail based on Amaretto and Rum started the night, followed by some great charcuterie plates and dishes to follow between 4 of us - some great wines by the carafe helped everything down. A place where the pizzas are more Italian than Australian (or Hawaiian...). There are no Capriciosas, Supremes or thick crusts overloaded with toppings. The offerings here are all thin crust, with simple ingredient combinations that are delicious. We enjoyed the Diavola (cheese, salami and chilli) and the sausages, olives, fennel and cheese conbination most. The ricotta lemon semifreddo (like an ice cream cake) was so refreshing and well balanced. Super friendly service by our lovely waitress in a romantic setting with quiet ambiance overlooking Bourke Street.

Sitting outside, we swilled and drank the best Campari and Aperol spritz outside of Venice! Small sharing plates are complimented by large mains, as well as a traditonal pizza menu. But it is the selection of Salumi that makes this always the right choice. Highly recommended for a romantic dinner, loud one with friends or a cheeky wine & lamb rib.

Honestly disappointed in the service. Dishes were slow to come out. Forget about asking for mayo, sause, salt etc as you will probably finish your meal by the time you see it. Bread was stale. When we got up to leave and asked for the bill our last dish came out. Took so long we forgot about it! They were good to take it off the bill though. Prices were 40-50% on the high side for what you get.

The pizza is of the crunchy type (electric oven) if you want to try it I suggest you go there on Monday, the day when all the pizzas cost only 12 dollars!
