By far my favourite restaurant in Melbourne. The food is made on open fire, which gives it that “oh damn! that is good” taste. I would highly recommend the set menus and then add to it if there is something else you would like to try.

The steak house which I tried to go to was full so I tried this Palermo Argentinian steak restaurant over the road and wasn’t disappointed. What a great steak. It comes with some parsley type of salsa thing on the side. But the steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned and had a tad of rock sat on top. 🥩🌱 I had an Argentinian Malbec which wasn’t very impressive with it. 🍷 The carrot salad which I got was very good too, with nice sauces and some crunchy things on top too 🥕🥕🥕 Good service and comfy chairs.

Our booking at San Telmo’s for Nye was rescheduled to Palermo due to staff testing positive to Covid-19. Nevertheless, walking into Palermo was a fun and inviting experience. The theme of the night was old Hollywood. Greeted by friendly staff at the door set the tone for a considered dinner service. The set menu offered a variety of tasty dishes, and each dish was served one after the other in a prompt manner; a reflection of the kitchen sticking to a timeline?! A favourite was the spiced pumpkin and ricotta empanada. I have a huge sweet tooth so I very much also rated the flan (dulce de leche and peanut praline). Thank you Palmero for hosting a lovely evening to say bye to 2021 and hello to 2022.

Great food. Had a set menu so got to try a few different dishes. Food come out very quickly, didn't have to wait long it at all between courses. Staff were very friendly and helpful. It was quite busy and Very loud inside so it was hard to hear staff or friends talk.

Nice ambiance and friendly service. One of the sister establishment of San Telmo. Food was nice, had the grilled chicken liver special, great combination of the saltiness of anchovy and sweetness of caramel. Tartar was great too, tasty and tangy, goes well with the sesame cracker. Meat and the smoked cauliflower as side went well together though we would have preferred bit more smokiness from the parrilla grill. Overall nice feast. 👍

Phenomenal, everything was just top notch. The food, the service, the wine. The chicken was an absolute stand out, followed by the empanadas. Highly recommend trying these two dishes. Then again, you can’t really go wrong with anything.

Argentina steak restaurant. Good atmosphere, good service and good food. Had the recommended scotch filet and it was perfectly cooked and delicious. For starter, we had the empanada and stuffed zucchini flower. Bread and salad were exceptional. As was the Patagonian Pilsner brewed right here in Melbourne.

One of the best steak house in town. This is Argentina style and don’t expect it comes with lots of sauce or seasoning . Simple add with pesto and vinaigrette vege! We ordered the Wagyu which was the day special and enough 200g for us, it is lovely and yummy! The highlights is the premium pasture fed eye fillet! It was so flavourful and looks like an aged beef. Expensive but 300g is good to share for 2 pax. We also ordered the grilled pork but kind of so so as rather hard as if overly cooked. Prefer them not to cut and I can taste the juices inside. The raw white fish with cucumber and grapes is really refreshing ! Ordered a bottle of Argentina wines kind of expensive in my view but a good malbec! Amazing waiter and waitress service! Love the vibes here and do make your reservation ahead!

By far the best steak I have had in Melbourne! Closest ever to the famous steakhouse in Argentina. So juicy and so tasty. Superb attention to detail from the staff. We went to Palermo for our first dining experience after Victoria’s 6th lockdown ended. It felt amazing to dine somewhere other than my house and surrounded with new faces. The lockdowns have certainly made mundane experiences feel like novelty. I am not a big fan of half cooked meats, so won’t comment on the chicken and fish. However the quality of the food was too notch. Must try: Empanadas and Flan!

Lunch was amazing and the atmosphere created in the private dining room was exactly what was needed to celebrate an intimate lunch with friends and family. The whole experience was awesome! The food, the hospitality and ambience, everything was great. We even had a side dish which was mistakenly missed which was promptly sorted, but didn’t even care because everything else leading up to that was perfect. Will be dying to come back!!

I've been here a few times. Wait staff are always accommodating and genuine. On this occasion we had no booking but they fit us in at the bar. Food was great as always. The lady who seated us was very up front about the fact we would likely experience longer wait times as she had to greet customers and seat them, serving us in between. We were more than comfortable with that and honestly the service was still great. Definitely get the skirt steak - you'll thank me later.

I wasn’t expecting it to be as good as it was. The staff had character and passion for what they do. The atmosphere was fantastic; dark and moody, yet vibrant and buzzing. The food was very good. They are not trying to be anything that they are not, so the food is honest and simple, but delicious. They even have a really good quality wine and cocktail list. Dinner @PalermoMelbourne, an Argentian restaurant with a Sicilian name for the neighbourhood where several Sicilians emmigarated to in Buenos Aires. After asking about the Cochinillo, I was sold - different cuts of a suckling pig roasted over an open flame! To partner the pork, I chose the charred broccoli, arrabiata sauce, black olive, smoked almonds. The food was served quite quickly. Lots of pieces of crunchy crackling, pieces of various cuts of succulent pork in a delicious sauce, and even better with the chimmichurri. The broccoli is very tender, the char evident on the outside but one doesn't get much of a char flavour. However, the arrabiata sauce is flavoursome and helps make the dish with the black olive providing a subtle salty burst and almonds the crunch. I also like the salsa which is refreshing and is needed against the backdrop of the fatty pork. Fortunately there's enough meat to leave one comfortably full with room enough for dessert, and no meat sweats! Burnt meringue, coffee ice cream, white chocolate, hazelnut dacquoise Wow, what a dessert! Bits of cookie crumbled around, smooth coffee ice cream, a burnt caramel, the creamy burnt meringue, a softened biscuit disc, when eaten together is so so delicious. My first visit to Palermo was fantastic! We went for a birthday celebration. The wait staff were excellent - great knowledge of the menu and wine selection, as well as super friendly. The food was truly delicious Argentinian. The restaurant is bigger than it looks from the street, but very cosy and intimate at the same time. An excellent choice for a special night out!

This is a fave of mine. The food is top notch and you have a real dining experience. The staff are generally fantastic. My only gripe was that recently the waiter was quite pushy in terms of insisting our group of five had to have the rather expensive banquet which none of us wanted. I had to assert myself to request the regular menu.

Three for potential! The ambience is very pleasurable and the wait staff are polite. The drinks and cocktails on offer are also wonderfully paired with the type of food on offer. Although the menu wasn't authentically Argentinian (more of a European take on it!) However, my biggest disappointment came in with how much food was served for a table of 10 people. It was a given that the menu would be a sharing menu, but in no way did we think that only two sides of salads would be served between the whole table. Barring one of us every one ate meat and fish and so between 9 people - there were only four servings of Ceviche. The straw that broke the camels back was when four plates of dessert came out to be shared - this definitely did not go down well with the dinner party and even when we tried to make the person in charge understand, he - besides quoting the t&c's and what's what - didn't quite seem to understand how that isn't a fair reflection of sharing (with respect to the food on offer). We have dined out in multiple restaurants before and the sides and the entrees are shared however even if it is a set menu the mains and dessert are always a single portion (albeit smaller given the sharing concept). This however could not be understood by the restaurant staff and one had to assert that kindly take it as a feedback!! And beyond that nothing else was done to ensure that we didn't leave with a sour taste in our mouth. For 90$ pp, before visiting, one might want to think on the broad and unconventional definition of a set sharing menu. 🤷🙄 Three stars because it still has potential!

If you like high quality meals and well informed service to go with it, I could not recommend Palermo quick enough. I have never had an issue paying for a meal that’s worth the money, and I can honestly say the food here and service is well worth it. I’ve ordered the Rib-eye, and Porterhouse and I have not had a meal I could even start to compare with. I’m not a porterhouse guy, I’ve always found it lean and flavourless, but I’d be lying if I said Palermo didn’t change my mind on that. You definitely have to try their Arancini if you stop on by, you will not be disappointed. Thank you Palermo! Will definitely be visiting again soon!

Slightly on the higher side of pricing but we'll worth the tasty barbecue treat. The service staff are impeccable and polite. The kitchen is open for all to see the chefs and kitchen hands cook, I believe it goes to show how authentic and confident they are in their food. Everytime I come to Palermo, I try at least 1 thing different from the last time I was there. The sausages are the real premium goods. Always try the steak as they're just seasoned and cooked to perfection, just how I like it, medium rare. Place is great for meat eaters like me.

You can tell by the photos, this place is all about meat. Very good quality meat, cooked by a bunch of people who knows it well and of course to be served to hungry customers like me. I spent a good evening here at Palermo Restaurant (one of three restaurants of the same company with San telmo and Asado). The staff is kind and attentive to every need, the style of the interior design is a copy and paste of the other 2 venues. The food is great, arrived on time but alas the wine list is overpriced. Most wines have an increase of up to 5 times their value and this discourages a seasoned and experienced wine lover. Their flan is one of the best in town, recommended.

This restaurant was included in the New Year Streets Feasts organised by the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival team. Located in Little Bourke Street and surrounded by many other high-quality restaurants, this place is indeed a hidden gem that I'm glad I found! It deserves to be in such great company as the whole dining experience at Palermo is exceptional. Prices are in the medium range. Seating was available inside or out. We sat inside at the same level as the kitchen. There is a raised section, and the impressive bar was behind us. It is a romantic setting and was made even more so with the tango display throughout the evening. The staff followed COVID rules/spacing and were very attentive to the needs of all the customers. This venue is a place for couples, families, groups - a place for everyone. The items on offer were popular selections from their current menu. This is what the meal consisted of: DRINKS: Palermo Sour - Richetta Storica Mirto, Pisco Quebranta, lemon, bitters and sugar - the perfect way to get your tastebuds and digestive juices working. Sangria Tinto - came in a jug - is a traditional Palermo red punch - with sugar, spice and everything nice - accompanied the meal well. STARTERS/ENTREES: *On the side - chimichurri and salsa. Empanada - a mixture of beef, roast garlic and prune, encased in a crispy shell. Fugazzeta - charred spring onion, mozerela, potato focaccia. Ceviche - White fish ceviche, jalapeno, black olive, fennel, dill and buckwheat. Chorizo - pork and paprika sausage. MAINS: Cochinillo a La Cruz - Western plains pork, slow-cooked over wood and charcoal. Bife - O'Connor's premium pasture fed, scotch fillet from Victoria. Papas - fried potatoes, dry salsa verde and balsamic onion aioli. Lechuga - mixed leaves, peas and tahini dressing. DESSERT: Flan - Dulce de leche creme caramel with salted peanut praline. Everything that I ate, was so mouthwateringly tasty and well prepared - I cannot fault any of it. [The view of my dining partner too]. If I was to highlight any of the items, which is very difficult, I'd choose the ceviche, pork and steak - all melt in your mouth goodness. Kudos to the chef and staff who deliver such a diverse and exceptional menu - reminiscent of my time in Italy, 2019.

I was here some days ago. And my experience was more positive than negative. Starting with the Atmosphere: I can say was perfect, right light that makes you relaxed but not sleepy. Service: I’m half Argentinian and half Italian but I didn’t tell it to them cause I wanted check they knowledge about Argentinian food and I think they are Prepared and professional, they really know perfectly all the menu and ingredients, while they tell it they guide you as well, just for a moment you have the sensation they repeat the same to all the costumers. They gave me at the first just the drink menu... this made me a little bit disappointed because if you go in a restaurant you expect the food menu before and not the opposite or better both menu, but as soon I called the waitress she came straight away and gave the food menù. Food: Delicious. All was better than I expected. Empanada and alfajor make me remember when a was kid in Argentina, the meat well cooked and good quality, asparagus wonderful with its smoked flavor and the grated cheese on top, ceviche with delicate flavor. Just the time between a dish and the other was really, really long. This is the most negative point in my dinner. The restaurant was not so busy and checking the other tables you could figure out that they was expected they food for long time, even if they was with smile in their face, maybe because at the end atmosphere, service quality and food was great against the slow food service. Probably I’ll come back again cause at the end this is a good Argentinian restaurant and worth the price just I’ll be hoping in a little bit faster food service. 👌👍

First time try this place after we’ve spent two years in this city. Honestly the food was well over our expectations. But if you think this is it, then you will be surprised by their service again. The staff can really give us good recommendations depends on how many people we have and what we really like or not. The price maybe a little bit expensive but I would say compare to some other famous steaks house not far from them, they’re actually in the top consideration. We celebrated my 60th Birthday and my sons 33rd Birthday. It was a week after lockdown ended and we were so excited to be able to celebrate by going out. Palermo did not disappoint. The service from our capable and at times very funny waiter” Edward” was excellent. The food was amazing and the venue is superb. Even though it was full the acoustics were great and we could actually hear each other without having to yell. A Palermo Sour Cocktail is a must! Thanks guys for making our post lockdown / birthday celebration one to remember . We will be back soon.

Great sister restaurant to San Telmo that opened up Dec 2017. Personally our group felt that this restaurant was better than San Telmo. Not as crowded, fantastic interior (leather couches and timber floors and high ceilings). Open kitchen so you can see all the action and the pig on a spit. Had lovely service from beginning to end, the waiter made great recommendations. Meat was super juicy and tender and could. It fault the ceviche

After being in 3 different brands of their Argentinian restaurants, I still don't understand why the chimichurri is oili and full off parsley, that's not Argentinian, not even close, and the fugazzeta is not a focaccia with a little bit of onion. The meat was really good, attention great, still a bit expensive.

This restaurant in the city was a great choice! A bit on the expensive side, but worth the price for an Argentinian steakhouse in Melbourne. The portions were big enough for two, and served within an appropriate amount of time to each other. We booked in with a set menu which didn’t have any room for dietary needs/preferences (although they did ask us before we sat down). The steak was a solid medium-rare so keep that in mind if you like your steak cooked differently. The dulce de leche tiramisu was delicious and a great way to end the evening. The waiters were super friendly and ours in particular made sure our water was always topped up.

I went there with work mates on a Friday night and loved it so much I went back the following week with my husband. The food is delicious, roasted pork is magnificent and so tender. The quality of all the meats left us wanting more, and as its a share menu, we really enjoyed the variety of the other dishes too. I brought my partner here for her 30th dinner and was not disappointed. The red neon sign out the front straight away gave a warm feeling to our visit. We were welcomed on arrival by a lovely aroma of what I can only describe as the best meals we had ever had before we even knew it. The bar staff gave us limitless cocktails which weren’t on the menu but delivered just as we pleased while we waited for our table as we were early. Once seated we sat at our table which was on the ground floor, and the aroma of the fire filled the air while we were fed an absolute array of amazing food which hit every spot imaginable. I’ve been in Melbourne 10 years and I am disappointed I hadn’t been here sooner. What an incredible experience and we will certainly be back again. From decor to staff to choosing the amazing cuisine we rate Palermo an 11/10

Great South American steakhouse. Wagyu skirt steak (pictured, already half eaten) was a standout. It's a great atmosphere with warm romantic lighting, and lounge style Spanish music in the background. We chose a set menu which was brought as 5 courses over an hour and a half. The staff weren't under the pump while we were there but still prompt, as well as discreet. The beef Empanada and Fugazzeta were a little bland, but every other dish had great flavours, good portions and overall I was extremely satisfied. Also tip - Malbec is a great red to pair with steak

First time at Palermo, have been to San Telmo twice. Great vibe (on the louder side), attentive service. Got the Asado set menu which was more than filling (we couldn't finish it all in the end). Nearly everything on the menu (especially the meats) were delicious. I didn't really like the cookie desert - I thought this was too sweet and seemed a bit average in comparison to the flan for a $110 set menu. I also got the orange fruit mocktail (second on the menu) which was very disappointing for its price point - this tasted like a watered down version of a regular juice. Aside from these two things I would definitely go back for the food again.

As an argentinean I must say I felt like in Argentina for an hour. The chorizo was the most similar one I’ve tried in Australia from the ones back home. Nice solomillo and good criolla (salsa) and chimichurri. Empanadas were okey, fugazzeta was not bad though the dough needed more salt. The ceviche was not good. Flan and dulce the leche were amazing. I had a nice glass of fernet and wine. We would like to choose from a menu rather than having a set menu. We had a great meal with the food and wine selected by our Argentinean waitress, with outstanding knowledge of the food and wine. We started with seafood, oysters, anchovies and cervici, followed by ribeye, brocollini and pototoes. We completed the meal with a cheese platter and a glass of Pedro Xinenez. We recently had a private dining room experience here as part of a weekend trip with people from our company. The food was nothing short of spectacular and we appreciated the great services and selection of wine to choose from. Highly recommended!

One of our new favourites!! Last minute decision to dine out on a Friday night. We went to Palermo when San Telmo was fully booked and recommended by them. So glad they did! The atmosphere was wonderfully relaxing, yet you could feel the element of fine dining in the atmosphere and in the service you get. The service was spot on and our waiter took the time to explain the concept of Palermo and a bit of history behind the name of the restaurant. He then took the time to go through each section of the menu and explain which Argentinian oven/open flame the meals were done on. And the food was next level! The meat was incredibly tender, the empanadas full of flavour and crunchy, vegetables for the sides were delicious and dessert was the BEST ive had in a very long time anywhere! Highly recommend the flan!! Palermo is definitely at the top of our list of favourites!

What an amazing collaboration between Palermo and Passing Clouds Winery last weekend. Absolutely best Galiciana parilla-cooked short ribs ever ...sticky, salty, sweet and melting; paired perfectly with a malbec tannat red from Mendoza or a big Passing Clouds 2016 shiraz....oh my goodness, but the perfectly paired tastings went on. Anchovies on focaccia, Palermo's signature empanadas and fried potatoes in a to-die for dressing of mascarpone, pine nuts and olive, the sort of experience pulled off by a great team. Palermo's sommelier matched experience with Passing Clouds Cam Leith, both young, passionate and generous - two crisp whites and two big reds from two big continents, perfectly finished with a Pedro Ximenez sherry - yes I'm keeping the tasting notes and will be back. Our table companions were friends by the end and we all agreed best ribs in Melbourne, thank you chef.
