Good hospitality tonight at the Pretty Boy, the steak was beautiful and juicy, entree we had the tuna and veal was well balanced, the squid ink spaghetti was delicious and flavorful, we finished meal with tiramisu was very strong coffee flavor we really enjoyed it! Our waiter Theo was really nice, recommended good wine to match our meal, we appreciate that! We will be back soon!

Nice palate of flavor in each dish. Although the name of restaurant is steak house itself but their other dishes beside steak are more outstanding. Strongly recommend the gnocchi and the zucchini flower dish in entree menu. Last but not least, don’t expect too much for the cocktail here.

Despite the steakhouse name, Pretty Boy serves a great vegetarian spread. And despite being in a hotel, it's a nice, intimate dining destination whether you're a visitor to Melbourne or a local. There are lots of interesting meatless dishes on the menu, including lightly fried and stuffed zucchini flowers prepared with a tempura-like batter and a roasted wedge of pumpkin served on a bed of beans and purple cauliflower. The truffle gnocchi is another vegetarian option that makes a wonderful and hearty main. Even all of the sides are veggie, allowing plenty of options for a great feast sans the steak. That, being said, my partner did try the traditional tasting menu and had plenty of good things to say about the meat dishes. We both enjoyed some strong and tasty cocktails to accompany our meals. The espresso martini is more subdued and made with St. Ali coffee while the Campania Floyd's is sweeter and made with house limoncello. The wine selection is also great and includes a few natural varieties, while the beers are a mix of local and imported Italian. I recommend you save room for dessert if visiting Pretty Boy, as the chocolate molten lava cake makes a decadent and delicious final bite. For a lighter alternative, try the creamy bowl of pannacotta topped with meringue and freeze-dried fruit.

Service was alright. Pretty standard. Didn’t offer menu till we asked. Beef was quite tender but a bit fatty. Staff mentioned it come with salad. So we expected to have a bowl of salad but could not see any bowl coming. Asking staff where salad was. She said it’s under the steak. I was quite upset with a few unknown stickers called “salad”. Not even have any green leaves. I might not come to visit again.

I didn’t realise this was a hotel (Novotel) restaurant until after I had made a reservation, but was pleasantly surprised. Surprisingly for a 4 star hotel restaurant, the dining area is quite high-end with stone tables, nice bar, plates and cutlery. The service was amazing - smiles all round, competent staff and lots of touch points to make sure everything is going well. We ordered the five course “feed me” menu and were blown away. Lamb ragout was a standout, although the beef was also incredible. My only suggestion would have been to have a little more variety in the salami plate, but this not a big deal given the salami was delicious.

Great steakhouse in the heart of the CBD. Around the corner from hardware lane and inside the Novotel hotel.
Pretty boy is an awesome Italian steakhouse with a menu that delivers amazing steaks as advertised. Totally fallen in love with their Kobe Wagyu Sirloin steak best cut I have had in awhile!
Their truffle gnocchi is dangerously addictive especially combined with the burrata on menu.
The venue is modern and sets a great ambience for a dinner date or a great catch-up with family and friends.

I located a 50% off, offer at this restaurant at The Fork and decided to give it a try.
This restaurant has only opened several months and is located first floor of this hotel chain.
The chef comes from a great background having worked at great restaurants like Tonka (Indian Fusion) and Mama Sita's Restaurant (Mexican). This is one of my favourite Mexican restaurants in Melbourne.
I opted for the $58 pp 5 course feed me meal (Chefs choices). I started with some focaccia bread with loaded butter, olives and calabrese. Next was the gnocchi, black truffle, porcini and portobello ragu. I then had the medium rare tender wagyu rump served with witlof, artichoke, parmesan, balsamic salad and fries (rosemary and lemon salt) The steak was even pre sliced which I found most convenient.
Desert was the delicious vanilla panna cotta, floyd’s limoncello jelly, apple crisp, meringue.
All my courses were superb and full and I disagree with a previous reviewer who indicated that the serves were not generous enough.
I even shared my meals with my wife who opted for two entrees which were crispy ricotta filled zucchini flowers, goats curd, and vino cotto iramasa kingfish, ricciole verde, salmon roe, pomelo, crispy jerusalem artichoke.
Service was great from my server including the manageress.
Setting is lovely and upmarket with an open kitchen so one can view the cooking going on.
Highly recommended restaurant.

Surprisingly good food, service and drinks. Doesn't feel like a hotel restaurant, with the first floor just devoted to dining. Trendy setting and steaks cooked well. Tiramisu was a must have, with a slightly unique and creative take on the presentation.

Food was alright only. Wasn’t the best that I had but we got a $10 voucher from not using the Housekeeping. Thus we came to try the food. Friend had the pasta and the pasta was overcooked, too soft. We ordered another fries but it came slightly soggy.

Visited here after seeing a deal from The Fork. 30% off 6 course set menu - in addition to upgrading to the Wagyu + Truffle Gnocchi, came down to $70pp. Given the quality of the food and portion sizes - I was pretty stuffed when they brought out the steak at the end - which goes to show you can get quality food at a great price.

Everything was awesome especially the steak and the Gnocchi, also the king fish were great! Must try dish in here!
C. S.
Excellent food and excellent service. We'll be coming back here very often. Nothing to fault. It was a good day when we were there. I'm sure the other reviews are valid. But the point is I had no problem with our dining experience. The best Novotel dining experience in Melbourne! The other one at South Wharf is terrible. Stay away from Novotel South Wharf.

the first thing that strikes you when you enter Pretty Boy is the well picked furniture with classic dark marble tables. I had the gnocchi with mushrooms and truffle oil and it was a delight to the senses. the gnocchi were little pillows of decadence which melted in your mouth.
For dessert I chose the vanilla bean panna cotta. the blood orange and mirangue elevated the dish with delightful flavours and textures.
I look forward to my next visit and as a millennial their use of paper straws for my drink was a welcome choice.

Attentive service, kinda formal. Tried the veg pasta, very tasty.. But think the broad beans should have been shelled first

Medium Ribeye is perfectly cooked but Kobe Scotch is a disaster. I ordered medium rare but she delivered medium well. What a waste on scotch.

Lovely happy place to dine. Tasty breakfast with lots of food dishes, beverages n tea/ coffee
The chef was a wonderful host.

Great food, especially the XO clams. Really friendly and helpful staff. Head down to Floyd's and ask Cal to make you a delicious cocktail before dinner.

Great steak and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Having to work in Melbourne occasionally I always stay at the Novotal Central. As such I always look forward to having a meal at the Pretty Boy Italian Steakhouse. I have never ordered the steak until tonight, I have just had the best steak I have ever tasted. Cooked to absolute perfection and the sauce flavours were amazing. I also had the most wonderful waiter who was just lovely. Highly recommend this restaurant and I look forward to my next work trip.

We had dinner at Pretty Boy Italian Steakhouse. Highly recommend. My hubby had the Tasmanian Scotch Fillet and it was chargrilled to perfection. I had the Nona’s Gnocchi with Truffle & Mushrooms and it was just delicious.
We don’t usually have desserts but we both had one each. I had the Tiramisu & hubby had the Molten Chocolate with Milk Sorbet. Again, both delicious.
Service was fantastic and pricing for food and wine was good.
We will definitely return.
G. R.
The service was exceptionally friendly, attentive and accommodating.

It's been 3 days since I visited Pretty Boy for the first time with a group of girlfriends and I am still dreaming about the mouth-watering porcini truffle gnocchi! We had such a lovely night here. We ordered quite a few things off the menu to share with a few desserts at the end and everything was just beautiful. The staff were lovely, attentive without being over the top and it was busy, so clearly lots of people in Melbourne have the same experience on their visits as what my friends and I did. Can't wait to go back!
K. Y.
Love this restaurant! The team are very engaging, you can see the kitchen which is great and the food delicious especially the steaks. Highly recommended and even great with kids. We would also like to mention our blonde Italian waiter what a lovely person! 5 out of 5.
B. R.
We were a table of 10 and were greeted by very friendly staff. Really enjoyed the six course share meals, they also provided Gluten Free versions of the meals for me. We need to go back for other menu options. Thanks for the great night out with friends.

I ate there recently as I had booked us into one of the suites on the upper floors. Rather than do my usual trick of ordering room service I went into the restaurant on the 1st floor. The food was in all honesty amazing. We ordered a few dishes and they were all delicious but I have to make a special mention for the Kobe steak. It has to be one of the nicest steaks I have ever eaten anywhere else. I had the wagyu ragu pasta which was very tasty. We had 4 desserts and they were really tasty. I'd like to say thank you to the staff, I can't remember all their names but include Alex, Laura and Chef Aiven. I will definitely be returning with friends and family.

We had a great time dinning at the pretty boy Italian steakhouse. The service was terrific with amazing food and wine selection. We definitely recommend the tasting menu. You get to try everything with generous proportions.
M. M.
We were amused by experiences in comments that feels the same way like we do about the 'feed me menu' - when we were wondering and suspicious about the small portion. It feels like a joke as it charges per person while serves only one portion of food. 'Share me menu' probably would be a more accurate name.
Nice service and Italian wine. Spaghetti, Italian bread and dessert are yum. However as a steakhouse, the steak is overcook outside that tastes bitter, and the bitterness is even enhanced by the salad that served with it.
B. L.
Really nice ambiance and setting. Service was excellent. We had 6 course tasting menu for Xmas function of 12. The food was fresh and We'll presented across the board. Great stay-in option if you're staying at the Ibis Central or Novotel.

Cards on the table, I was not in the best of moods when I walked into the Pretty Boy Italian Steakhouse. I’d like to be as fair as possible, so in the interest of fairness I thought I should lay out all the reasons I was in a stinky mood:
1) I had been up early (at 4:15 am) to get to the airport to fly to Melbourne from Sydney.
2) I had worked a very long and fairly stressful day and didn’t finish work until after 7 pm.
3) I had just checked into my hotel room which was about the size of the bathroom at home.
4) My plan A for dinner was to get a sandwich from Subway and eat it in my room watching TV in my pyjamas.
5) My plan B for dinner was to order a pizza delivered to my hotel and pick it up from downstairs when it arrived however the concierge didn’t want to help me out. Instead he told me I could get a pizza at the restaurant on level 1.
So that was how I found myself in the Pretty Boy Italian Steakhouse in not the best of moods, arriving at probably around 8:50 pm. It was mostly empty, with the rush (if indeed there was one) well and truly over.
The first thing I discovered was that pizza wasn’t actually on the menu. That’s not the restaurant’s fault ¬– it was the hotel concierge who gave me misinformation – but still, it didn’t help my mood. I had left my phone in my room on charge, so I didn’t have anything to keep my mind occupied as I waited to be served. I’m not entirely sure whether it took a long time to be served or whether it just felt like it because I was sitting there alone with nothing to keep me occupied.
I ordered the scotch fillet with a sourdough bread and a sparkling water. They come with onion rings, but I’m not a huge fan so I asked to swap them for fries – which the waitress said was okay but apparently she was later told ‘no’ by the kitchen, so I grumpily ordered a side of fries instead. I started a stopwatch when I placed order, so I know that my food arrived around 20 minutes later – which isn’t bad but not particularly impressive either given how empty the place was.
I was terribly disappointed by my meal. My $34 scotch fillet was quite small and thin (I think the menu said 220 g). It had three depressing looking onion rings on the top and nothing else on the plate (if I hadn’t ordered the sides I would have gone very hungry). The bread was okay, but again very small. The fries were fine, but objectively not much different to a large fries from McDonalds (on a good day).
Perhaps I was expecting too much, but for a single meal that cost over $50 I think I would want more. Find a pub or an RSL for a better quality meal at half the price.
P. T.
I love dry aged steaks and this place delivers on that. You can see them hanging their meats to age for 30 days. This shows the transparency one need to see when a restaurant is advertising the fact that they got dryaged meat. Dry ageing is a complex process and if one makes a mistake contamination is a big problem. But pretty boy did a wonderful job when they finally gave me my order and I was pleasantly happy chewing on the meat.

For my First time here, Experience was lovely. Food is of great quality. The meals we ordered were very tasty and steaks cooked perfect. Service and atmosphere pleasant. Little pricey but overall worth it.
R. S.
Place and service were great, but the food was just OK. Ordered the signature 'Kobe Steak' with peppercorn sauce, and I found the sauce was a little too sweet and too bitter at the same time. The side salad dish also didn't meet the expectations. Not sure if we'd return nor recommend the place.

Yesterday we had the pleasure to dine at this amazing place called Pretty Boy Italian Steakhouse! The Service was amazing we had a waitress by the name of Tayla who was polite helpful and full of knowledge. I highly recommend the steak it was the best steak I have ever eaten.

Pretty Boy Italian Steakhouse is a new restaurant that opened last month in November 2018. You’ll find it on the 1st floor of the new Ibis Central Hotel in Little Lonsdale Street. The restaurant has a central open kitchen surrounded by a bench and bar chairs where people can sit and eat. We however were seated at one of the tables.
So that we could sample a number of their dishes, we decided to order the six course Mangiare Menu (Feed Me). To start we had marinated olives and sourdough with prosciutto butter. This was followed by an antipasti dish of bressola with pickled salad onion. For entrée we shared a Kingfish crudo. The mains were a tagliatelle with broccoli and pecorino and a roasted chicken dish. The chicken was served with two sides, a salad and rosemary and garlic salt fries. The final dish was a serving each of the vanilla panna cotta with amaretto jelly and orange meringue.
There is a five course feed me menu available as well but I would recommend the six course version unless you are not very hungry. There are also a number of individual dishes you can order if you don’t want the feed me menu. These include antipasti plates, entrees including Italian style XO clams, pastas and steaks from the grill.
We enjoyed the meal and liked the variety of the dishes that came with our set menu. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Have since returned in May 2019 for dinner. It was much busier than our first visit. Our entree this time included the mussels, which was served with bread. Very nice although the serving was a little small. We liked dipping the bread into the sauce the mussels were cooked in.
Our mains included the pasta with meat balls, steak, gnocchi and whole Barramundi. Although not totally boneless, the main bone that runs through the middle of the fish had been removed. All the dishes were enjoyed by my guests and the steak was cooked correctly, as ordered. The mains don't come with much so you may consider ordering sides.
The chocolate fondant was cooked just right and was liquid in the middle, but the dish required more ice-cream to accompany the fondant as it was quite sweet. We enjoyed the meringue in the panna cotta as it gave the dish a bit of a crunch with each spoonful.
Once again, we enjoyed our dinner at Pretty Boy.
