Comments of Sapa Hills Restaurant
D. L.
Similar vibe and taste to Chin Chin's for a fraction of the cost. Speedy service despite being a full house (even in the overflow restaurant). Taste was on point, flavours were strong and punchy without being overwhelming. Can see why it's so popular amongst the locals.
V. D.
Came back after the lockdown, the restaurant is still great, but the meals flavour were changed a bit. I got 3 dishes this time and everything was a bit salty today. The service is still nice but their new staff is not too friendly like before.

Delicious Vietnamese food. The fried chicken ribs is a must try, not only the fried skin is delicious with some veggies on top and garlic seasoning but even the meat inside has a rich flavour, you can tell and see by the colour of the meat that's been marinated perfectly. The Sapa special fried rice is amazing too.

Great place with great tasting food. This is northern Vietnamese styled food so there are some unique changes from the south Vietnamese that many are used to in Melbourne. In particular, "bun cha" is a great one here (very similar to vermicelli noodles) and the pho is slightly northern style. The only thing that isn't making it a 5 is that there is food as good but cheaper around the area. 2 mains plus 2 drinks was about 50, which you can probably get for about 35 around the corner. The place is definitely more buzzing so it is much much louder. But overall, very good place.

Delicious food. Interesting menu. Good liquor list. Only 1 grumpy staff member! Very highly recommended.

This has been one of my favourite places ever since moving to Footscray 2 years back. Food is delicious and portion right.
They do takeaways during COVID lockdowns and the food is surprisingly good and at par with how you’d have it when you were able to dine in.
I’ve tried a few items from their “chef’s special” menu and was never disappointed. Most recently on 15th October I bought Stir Fry of Pan seared scallops with egg noodles in crab sauce and is fantastic! The lemongrass chilli chicken was good but I’m not really a fan of lemongrass flavour anyway, so can’t really comment on that.
They also currently have many local takeaway beer options

I’ve been here numerous times and this has been consistently great! Staff super friendly, always greeting us with a smile. Food is hearty, delicious and generous servings so great to share. Reasonably priced and great craft beer options or cocktails! Something to please everyone on the menu, so a safe place to take friends and family.

I'm never left disappointed. Sapa Hills always hits the spot with their wide range of authentic and fresh cuisine. I always find myself coming back for a bowl of pho and their coconut mocktail! SO GOOD!!

Its not often I leave reviews but I was so impressed with manager at this restaurant last night who went above and beyond helping to care for a woman who needed assistance outside the restaurant next door! He was incredibly kind and it was touching to see such compassion. The restaurant itself, food and vibe was fantastic! Would highly recommend and look forward to going back again! Thank you so much!!
E. F.
The food here was excellent! A bit more pricier than other Vietnamese places nearby but the food was well worth it. We were seated in Sapa Sister next door as Sapa Hills was full, however the food all comes from the Sapa Hills restaurant.
Prawn spring rolls, ginger and prawn dumplings, Sapa special fried rice, fried squid and coconut juice was delicious. The fried squid was cooked perfectly, so soft and tender to eat and the balance of salt and pepper with the green chilli lime sauce worked perfectly together. The ginger and prawn dumplings are the best I’ve had in Melbourne so far. Love ❤️ love ❤️ love ❤️ I can’t wait to go back.

Oh this is my new favorite place in town. It looks nice, the menu range is very wide with lots of different dishes and they all are very good. The staff is very friendly and happy and smiling all the time and they are also very attentive. Love it!
F. M.
A small busy restaurant for light heated dining. The food is excellent. I've had both the Pork Belly & the 10hr Beef Ribs both are amazing. If you are looking for a Cocktail I highly recommend the Footscray market as a tasty & refreshing beverage.

Wow, what a delightful restaurant to dine in. This licenced (alcohol) place is so busy but when one tastes the food you completely understand why. They are very promt at serving and the variety of meals, dumplings, and snacks is just great. Always order too much? no worries, ask for a take-away container so you can have the rest later or the next day. They have the take-aways too. Definately going back time and time again.
N. B.
Enjoyed the food, the service (quick service and staff busy.) Today I was in a group of 4 so we ordered 5 main courses and shared them. Each course came out promptly one at a time. Place is busy, a little noisy, just great. I am price aware and Sapa Hills is good for that too
d. h.
Food is excellent. Prices are a bit higher than other Vietnamese restaurants but well worth it. But I was disappointed because one waitress who was a young lady with amazingly bad customer service. She didn't say any single word and used her body language to serve customers. When I said I wanted to pay the bill, she signaled me with her eyes to follow her and gave me the eftpos machine and signal me to pay. And yeah sure, she did not say a word. OMG hWhat kind of customer service is that? Too terrible.
P. W.
Hip Vietnamese joint serving Chinese influenced Vietnamese dishes with first class ingredients: even the humble stir fried beef was served with generous portions of scotch fillet cooked medium rare! Add on to that a good beer and wine list plus creatives cocktails. Recommended!
N.
Delicious veggie and beef pho. The iced coffee and coconut juice was refreshing. The service was very good. My only nit pick is that they have gf pho for all except vegetarian. Surely if you have gf for beef, chicken, etc. then veg gf pho would be available. Instead they have vegan pho that is not gf.
I. L.
I have visited Sapa Hills with different company through many occasions, and not once have I ever been disappointed by the menu items I have chosen alongside my companions.
The food brings upon an explosion of flavour which leaves the mind boggled, as to what culinary genius thought of combining sweet and sour ingredients and flavours, a unique and brilliant combination which I have yet to find elsewhere in Melbourne. By the time you have even begun to comprehend what ingredients were used to create such a unique flavour, you've probably realised that you've already finished your dish, because it was that tasty.
No matter how busy it gets here, the service has never been late, the customer service has always been excellent, and the unique drinks menu will keep you entertained with their eclectic choices of music, which only adds to the ambiance of the willingness to try new things. I implore you, please make an effort to visit Sapa Hills, nothing in the menu will disappoint, and the DIY Pork Rolls are to die for.
Z. Z.
Nice bartender. Great food.
M. T.
Absolutely delicious. We had the pork belly bao, Pad See Ew and Salt and Pepper calamari. All very tasty and we will be back
P. L.
Our two dinners here were perfect ( ambience, food, services). Hanoi styled spring rolls, seafood salad, ( beef/chicken) PHO were really delicious like you expect in 5 star hotel! If I well remember, no free tea but their BAR made very good drinks. If in Preston we most prefer Phuong Nam Restaurant, in Footscray, we highly recommend Sapa Hills as trully authentic Vietnamese option.
H. D. L.
Great food and super nice staff.
A. P.
Tasty food with big portion. Plus: their staff are so friendly and taking care of customers well 👌👌👌👌👌👌
A. P.
Portion was generous, taste really nice too, the papaya salad was very refreshing with the right amount of spiciness and the beef added some weight to it. The Hanoi style beef noodle was nice and smooth. The tomato rice and beef cubes was very tasty, the beef especially was surprisingly soft and juicy!
M. S. M. O.
While their pho may be on the slightly pricier side in comparison with other pho in Footscray, the dine-in atmosphere and quality ingredients that are used speak for themselves. Their sliced chicken pho for instance is generously portioned and served with sliced lean meat and flavoursome broth. The staff are friendly and the restaurant has a modern feel with plenty of seatings for a family or group meal.
C. J. V.
Come here often, have our own seating.. Look forward to being greeted by the owner - he takes great care of us.
Vietnamese coleslaw best anywhere.
Salt & pepper calamari again the best.
We don't go to any other vietnamese restaurant, they just dont compare, though really could try owners other place in hawthorn.
Gets very busy from 6pm onwards. Our only place for vietnamese!!!
Support ur local
POST COVID
Brilliant bao and dumplings, dont miss the prawn and ginger..delish.
Also, 1st restaurant back...slat n pepper lime calamari, crispy chiken ribs abd spicy thai basil beef.... well done.
P. H.
Up beat modern restaurant with great menu. Lots of choice for drinks. Quick service. Was extremely busy so suggest booking a table. I look forward to my next visit to challenge another unknown dish. Make up your own pork wraps, the crispiest crackle and beautiful mint salad. Followed by simply scrumptious whiskey lamb ribs this time. Yum
A. B.
Our go-to for dinner in Footscray!
Plenty of dining areas (inc Sapa Sister a door down) and always good food.
Love the mint&coriander gin&tonics, too!
Z. L.
Been twice and would definitely keep coming back, vibe is chill, music is fun and food is always good.
R. L.
Lucky to found this place. It was my very first time in proper vietnamese restaurant and I loved it. The staff was really nice and friendly and they have lunch special which is super affordable.
I had lunch here with friends and couldn't even finished my meal.
Highly recommend
N. P.
Sapa hill is a hipster-ised Vietnamese restaurant. There is a massive list of craft beer to choose from. The food in general is great. Some of our favourite dishes are bun cha hanoi, beef wrapped in betal leave with bahn hoi and hanoi style spring rolls.
T. H.
On the pricey side for Vietnamese food, but very large servings (worth). Clean, quick service, authentic with fresh ingredients. Have recommended to many people.
G. G.
Always great food here. Try the Hanoi rice vermicelli, the house style spring roles or really any damn thing!
P. P. w.
One off the best Asian reastraunts in Melbourne I ve ever been to , with a western twist , nothing comes close , amazing flavours ,premium quality, keep inventing dishes
O. S.
We have been looking for a nice Vietnamese restaurant which serves main dishes other than the usual pho places. This place ranks quite high among all the places. After being there for 3 times in the last couple of months, I can confirm that this is one of the best Asian eatery around the city.
All dishes are well made. Service is much more attentive compared to other asian joints. It serves some of the best vietnamese ice coffee. It is always busy, but never too bad that you have to queue up too long for a table. The most we ever waited was 10 mins. Overall, one of the best restaurant in Footscray. We will come back again.
J. J.
An iconic place in Footscray. Try the crocodile dish if you are game. See fotos for reference.
Excellent customer service, they will advise on the most popular dish.
My goto dish is the Sapa hills special fried rice, prawn lollipops and a nice chilled Tsingtao beer.
k. A.
Foods are delicious with swift and attentive staffs. Recommend the broken rice dish with grilled pork, pho is also good but not that excellent. But in general it's a perfect place to have vietnamese foods with nice and clean place for catching up...
E. S.
Pricey but delicious and somehow a really fun meal. The wines pair really well too. Meats were a little sweet though. Would get the tomato rice and noodles again.
J. L.
Please note these pictures were from my first visit. I came here the second time and it was great so I decided to give this place a review that it deserves.
Sapa Hills Footscray has the great flavours you'd expect from a restaurant with premium prices. Now don't let the premium price scare you off as I say it to compare to the regular restaurants that surrounds it. The dishes you see here are roughly $15 each whereas you'd normally get them for $13 elsewhere.
But the quality of the food really justifies the price hence why I gave it a second visit.
If you're familiar with Tan Thanh Loi in Footscray or a fan of Thanh Ha 2 in Richmond, you'd definitely love this place.
It's cleaner and the atmosphere is really groovy.
With that being said, the staffs could be friendlier. Sometimes it feels like they don't want to be there or hate their job. I'm still giving the restaurant a 5 star to give benefit of the doubt that the staffs were having a bad day.
My review in the future may reflect the customer service if I go there again.
I would come here again and recommend it if you're around town.
M. J.
We were in the next door restaurant, same owners, sapa sister. Great food. Good idea of share menu as you can try lots of different dishes.
M. D.
We went just before noon on a Friday and there were not many people there. By the time we left it was filling up but people still were able to be seated no problem. We split the rice vermicelli noodles with Hanoi style grilled pork as well as the egg omelet rice paper rolls. Both items were superb. Flavours were amazing, food was affordable, and service was fast and friendly. O especially liked the extensive menu which went beyond pho, rice paper rolls, and pork roll sandwiches. Place was yum.
T. U.
This restaurant is a real gem tucked in one of Footscray's busiest streets. Enjoy quality Vietnamese food adapted to Australian palate and read through 15 pages of their beer and wine offerings.
M.
Extensive alcohol choices, great Vietnamese food at pocket friendly prices, in a modern setting. The addition of beef jerky to the papaya salad was surprisingly textural - the beef is actually quite sweet and quite tender. The beef pho soup is delicate, fragrant and not too sweet, and comes with generous servings of beef slices, beef brisket and beef balls. Nevertheless, traditionalist who wants beef tendon and tripe with their pho will need to go elsewhere.
D. B.
Absolutely stunning food. Great flavour. Brilliant service. Value for money. Will be back for sure!!
c. g.
This has been a long term favourite.
Great Vietnamese restaurant. Delicious, fast service and staff.
I. C. G. O.
The place is so chill and cosy especially at night. Had a dinner here from hungry belly to full stomach. 🥢😄 Servings are plenty the fact that foods bowls are big too and possibly can be shared by two not heavy eaters like me. Cheap price too for someone looking cheap but heavy meal. 🤪 Plus the staff we’re awesome enough to take lovely photo of us. In addition, the great part as it is my first time in this restaurant someone had a birthday and everyone in the house cheerfully sang a happy birthday to her, it was delightful 😍
T. N. T.
There are absolutely GREAT Restaurant in everything ,at first I clapping my ✋ to all the staff , Team work Excellent ,Sapa Hills and Sapa Sister are 2 in 1 / two different building & the Foods is unbelievable Quickly Service to the table from the Main kitchen ( Hills to Sister ) with Lovely Food decor , Delicious , Delicious ,Fantastic in customer service , Classic Wine & beer , many different fruits juice and more ,I Like the Article Decoration in Both Restaurant .
O. L.
A Vietnamese food lover myself, this was definitely a gem to find in Footscray. Their Sapa Hills spring rolls were to die for! Tastiest I've had in a while. Loving the presentation of their dishes too. Will definitely come back here.
C. J.
Great late night option on a Sunday. Friendly staff allowing us to have a meal very close to closing time. Super friendly and accomodating. Will definitely be back.
F. P.
Went here for Saturday lunch. Staff were friendly and helpful. But we had not so nice experience.
We ordered 2 rice dishes and spring rolls. Spring rolls came out after a bit of wait but the rice dishes took at least 1/2 hour. We had to ask for our order after seeing a few people who came in and ordered after us, got their food before us. Then when I got my food, we had to wait 15 min ish for the other dish to arrive.
Food was alright.
F. T.
Very good service and food! Especially the soft shell crab! And the waitresses are so nice!
M. N.
Pricey for the type of food you get. Food was great however.
F. F.
Our favourite place. Fresh food. Great reliable eatery for us. It's our go to when we want to play it safe.
D. G.
Food is delicious here. Like a western version of ChinChins.
Pad see ew and tofu nuggies were amazing
C. P.
Always a favourite Cannot really go wrong with any selection. Pork belly is beautiful 😍
S. D.
Amazing food, loved the atmosphere!! Following covid rules also, a must visit in the area!!
C. N.
Nice presentation, smaller portion, fancy version of traditional Vietnamese food but I personally prefer authentic Vietnamese place next door
s. g.
The food is great but too small space and overcrowded. The waiters are so busy, it gets difficult to get their attention.
C. L.
Always a delight to dine here. Unique dishes and friendly staff. A solid favourite
Y. M.
Tasty Vietnamese food. Slightly pricey compared to other Vietnamese restaurants nearby but fair for the quality.
S. F.
One of our favourite places to visit with friends.
Light hearted, friendly and fresh food. What more could you ask for.....
Sapa Sister almost next door, same place.
Both have a great Asian trendy street feel.
Eclectic, with plants, lighting, pressed metal plaques and neon sign with a great selection of camp music in the background
V. V.
Sapa Hills,
Vermicelli Rice Noodles with Beef and Spring Rolls. A slightly more western influence Vietnamese restaurant in the heart of Footscray. Being more westernised the food isn’t as heavy in flavour compared to traditional dishes. None the less, the restaurant is well serviced by its staff and owner and the food is fine.
For a quick feed, during most hours the restaurant is busy but manageable with its sister store two stores away, due to popularity.
Recommended, if you’re looking for a place with good food in Footscray with a large variety of selections to choose from.

It's one of those restaurant I never want to stop visiting. From traditional Pho to modernized Vietnamese dishes, this restaurant has it all. The serving is very good size and each dish has a distinctive taste.
They also have amazing cocktails. Yuzu sour is one of my favourite one ever.
Except the long wait time, there's nothing at fault with this place.
N. L.
This place used to be my all time favourite place for years! We always bring large amount of family and friends to this place. Food used to be fresh and amazing. Now that Covid has come, the place has lost its authenticity. We are devastated :(
Coriander is none existent any more, which I thought is meant to be a staple ingredient for Vietnamese dishes. The pork meat is very tough like jerky almost as if it was cooked twice. Cucumber is not fresh anymore - it’s pickled (I guess to prolong its shelf life which I get). :( but this has not happened just once, my rating is based on few visits - takeaway and in house. Bring back the original Sapa hills with fresh ingredients!!!
Still have the best Sapa hills special fried spring rolls !!
K.
Tasty viet food but price slightly higher than competition n service can b hit n miss
M. P.
This place is amazing! The food is incredible and decent portions! Gotta get the calamari, fried rice and the beef salad 👌
M. T.
It's almost a fine dining Vietnamese experience. The food is absolutely delicious, and so are the cocktails. It's like a bar but serving glorious food. Only negative for me, the music is a bit too loud. But the food is just magic
M. B.
Lots of vietnamese cuisine dishes to choose from accompanied with fresh and tasty salads which balance well the dining experience.
A tasting experience not to be missed if you don't mind a busy and lively ambiance and when lifting of restrictions allow.
D. B.
Food is not tasty 😭😭😭 went to try hot pot for first time but garlic chicken was good
O. C.
Everything we ordered was absolutely beutiful.
I highly recommend Sapa Hills Restaurant in Hopkins Street Footscray.
When you have people lining up outside to get in while waiting in the cold and rain is a good testament of the food.
P. T.
Great food with an unusually large list of wine and craft beer. It's not a romantic place or wheelchair accessible. Great to catch up with friends.
S. C.
Really nice staff great food packed with flavour. Really good atmosphere.
C. P.
Make sure your order the Sepa Special Spring Rolls 🥰
C. I.
Clean and well presented. Tasty food and good service. Was happy with the amount for the price paid.
M. H. D.
Good food , friendly service but the price is too expensive
K. W.
Great viet food. Very good prices as we went with bg group.
A. W.
I had a beef noodle soup. The ingredients were fresh and it was a big portion but it could have been a bit spicier.
H.
We love going to this restaurant for Vietnamese food! The service is fantastic and the food is absolutely amazing. Definitely recommend!
C. V.
Fantastic service, delicious food and affordable. Will definitely come back again.
l. b.
Amazing food and great value :)
B. T.
Food was nice however en the Tom Yum was sweet which is unusual. Customer service was very good, friendly staff
M. K.
Papaya salad, lacked a little bit of flavour but the experience was nice
A. P.
Busy lunch time yet they managed to squeeze us in.
Food was excellent, lots of choice, came out hot and tasty. Recommend the chicken ribs.
R. D.
Really enjoyed my experience, ordered the broken rice and Avocado shake, both were delicious. Went home very full and satisfied!
W. C.
The flavouring of every dish is thoroughly impressive. The only downfall is their terrible timing of meals. Last time I waited so long that my boyfriend had already finished his before mine eventually arrived. I highly recommend avoiding Sapa if you’re hungry or have an engagement afterwards.
T.
The food is fine - no issues however for the area that it is surrounded by, this restaurant caters to the westerners and not to the asian community. The price point is quite high. I supported them post lockdown and was shocked to see they had increased their prices. I am all about supporting local businesses but it was a huge price jump & also being charged a surcharge for using eftpos and not being advised. It's a bit sneaky to be honest.
P. C.
Simply excellent restaurant and bar, with food a little different (ok, a lot different) to standard Vietnamese fare elsewhere on this Street.
The wine list and cocktails are excellent and well priced.
The Chef specials are apparently all of high quality. I’m going back to make sure.
Thoroughly recommended.
C. J.
Food came out quick. Vegetables were crisp and fresh. Clean modern premises, nice crockery. Good drinks selection. Great food presented well. Well priced. Big food portions. Staff friendly but seem to forget about you, you need to wave them down to get their attention, and small commonsense things like they only gave one menu for the table. Will return.
A. P.
Good food! Friendly staff! Quick service.
A. N.
Very tailored to the Instagram kids and the true authentic Vietnamese flavours have been diluted to accommodate that western palate. I wouldn't recommend for those wanting to experience that authenticity. For myself it is overpriced for the quality and quantity you get, your just paying for a well plated meal that you can whack on your social media (at least it fills up your ego)
E. D.
Excellent food! Good service. Hard to park the car.
C. R.
Great authentic cuisine. Excellent service. This is a crowded noisy place but I have never had to wait to be seated and meals come out fast and delicious. Large variety of food and drinks.
Back again. It's expand and incorporates Sapa Sister.
FABULOUS talented staff and the menu just keeps getting more interesting. The food just keeps getting better.
I really get excited about eating here.
F. C.
Food is incredible!! The best Vietnamese I've had in Melbourne! The chef nails all the classics and also has beautiful modern takes with fresh flavours on many of their chef's special dishes. Service is great too! Highly recommend!
C. B.
Gorgeous food, staff super lovely too!
E. K.
Swift and friendly service with delicious, moreish food. Sapa Hills is always bustling for good reason; they are consistently excellent. I recommend anything on the chef's specials, especially the lamb ribs in whiskey based sauce. Great range of food and beverage, including beautiful, fresh blended juices. Great atmosphere, good times and a satisfying feed are guaranteed.
K. G.
We eat a lot of Vietnamese and this place totally exceeded our usual expectations. Amazing versions of old favourites and a fantastic menu of unexpected delights as well. The food is very high quality and uses free range chicken and other ethical ingredients.
The wine list is unbelievable, and the wide selection of beer and other tipples are such a bonus.
The food came out so quickly and the staff were lovely. The only slight criticism
Is that there was a musty smell throughout the building. Hopefully they can get that sorted out, and then it will be an absolutely unbeatable option for Vietnamese in Melbourne!
T. L.
Delicious Vietnamese food and nice service!
L. (.
Prices and food are excellent.
Drinks and entrees however are a little pricey.
If you're looking for cheap pho theres many other places in the area, but if you're looking for a weekend night dinner with nice decor and drinks, this is it.
A. D.
My favourite Vietnamese restaurant in Melbourne so far. I've been there 3 times and tried different dishes every time. Each one of them was great. Also the portion of food food is quite generous. I recommend the rice dish with chicken and salted mackerel fish
M. P.
The food here is outstanding. The beer list is epic. Always packed so book if you can. Very into it
T. L.
Funky contemporary Vietnamese and southeast Asia foods.
S. R.
The three dishes we ordered were amazing. Lamb ribs, oxtail curry and the beef rib. All excellent and good serving sizes. And yes, these are the first three dishes on the chef’s specials. We’ll definitely be continuing our way down this list next time we visit.
E. R.
Food was nice, place was busy therefore cramped.
I. B.
This place is very affordable for such great meals. I always try get one of the random beets on the menu and are still trying to find one I like. The staff are super helpful and I have always had quick service here. Is great to go here with a group so you can try all the different foods they offer.
D. l.
Best Pho Bo I've had outside of Vietnam. Enormous steaming bowl for $15, that smell that makes all you worries disappear. I'd rate 5 stars if there were some more condiments available. Not that the soup needs it, but if I'd go there regularly I want to be able to tweak it.
Y. S.
So glad that this place is open again, had the broken rice, pork with dry noodles, spring rolls, fried aubergine and two Vietnamese coffees - pity I couldn't eat any more! Will be back again (and again) (and again) to try everything else. Prompt service and delicious food
W. I. O. T. B. Q. V. M.
One of our favourite places for some Viet-goodness. Great service and plenty of delicious herbs and flavours, a few dollars more than some of the other places where all the food tastes sweet, bland and not nearly as good as here!
The vermicelli dishes with the grilled pork etc are bloody good!
D. U.
Great service, great food. Great beer list, great wine list. Worth paying a bit more if you're taking someone out for something nice. The new menu has some interesting things. Highlight for me was the pad see ew with smoked brisket.
C. N.
Very generous portion and tastes great
K. O.
Surprisingly good little Restaurant in Footscray. Tasty food in Hanoi Northern Viet style at great price.
Won’t be disappointed, it is packed with customers even on a Tue night. They have rent another shop for more seats and table but also filled up with customers in no time.
Highly recommend the Eggplant dishes
l. g.
Great food at a reasonable price.
T. S.
Definitely my favourite place to satisfy my craving for Vietnamese dishes. Tasty food, reasonable prices, fast service and ok staff. Too busy and noisy at dinner time though. Owner prefers cash payment which was sometimes annoying , especially when we had a $50 bill. Still, I highly recommend this place. Come between 1 to 6pm if you like to eat in peace :p
D. S.
One of the best and most consistent restaurants in Melbourne. Have been coming here for 5 years and the food and service just continuously improves. You simply won’t find better value for money. Beer list is huge and diverse and before Footscray went all trendy was the only place to drink interesting froths. Ken and the people that run it are close friends of ours and always make a table for us. Amazing customer service. Chicken ribs FTW.
S. K.
Quality is always good, a little on the pricey side though. Staff and manager are pleasant and attentive. Restaurant is always clean. We've enjoyed all our meals here both sit in and take away. We've tried other similar places in the area but still think Sappa Hills is the best!
D. N.
Been to many Vietnamese restaurant and this probably one of the best food. However, service was just ok. We order 3 main dishes. Two was served within 10mins and I have to wait another 30-40mins for mine while other has finished their meals. They don't even apologise for this.
a. s.
good food, fast service and friendly

Decent flavours and quite a nice ambience but is relatively priced higher than surrounding restaurants and the pho is a bit too soupy than what I'm normally used to. Not bad for an occasional visit though!
J. G.
Great flavourful food, excellent beer selection. I will recommend this place to anyone suffering from too many choices in Footscray. Staff are friendly and a great help, they will recommend menu items for you if you are stuck, or even if you try order some boring old Chinese takeout option. They won't leave you with an average experience. Highly recommended.
J. Z.
Food is ok, smell inside the dining area has become unbearable. Been here many time, the food is "Vietnamese for westerners", overall very nice if you already know what you like from the Vietnamese cuisine (mostly I enjoy their clean Pho). Also -unlike many Asian eateries- they take cards. The service is prompt and they serve alcohol. I'd rate it 3.5 if possible.
T. H.
OMG, this is one of the best restaurants I've been to in a long time. Great Pho, amazing craft beer list!!! Don't miss out on the Sapa Hills special spring rolls - delicious. Have been there with many work mates and all have loved it!
R. D.
I've been here a few times and it never disappoints. One of the best eateries on Hopkins. And great Pho - not the best I've ever had - but pretty damn good. Highly Recommended. 👍
A. M.
One of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Melbourne. I gave 5 stars, I have stopped going there as the staff are sometimes borderline rude when the restaurant is overly crowded.
Still it deserves 5 stars because the food is really of satisfactory quality.
J. L.
Food was pretty average. If you’re looking for authentic Vietnamese food don’t come here as their menu mainly focus on Asian fusion. Price is pretty dear for the location compared to the other restaurants.
F. R.
Best food ever !! Good price, big dishes 😊
M. L.
Food was amazing. Service on par. Would recommend
C. M.
Always a great meal and generous portions. You could have one main meal between two for sure. Flavours are always drool worthy, and I love to come back as the service is also fantastic.
K. G.
Decent sized meals. Good taste fresh. Group of 7 ate in. No issues with food and all paid separately. Will eat here again, once I am out of the food coma. 👍👍👍👍👍
S. A. R.
Fantastic food! Service is quick with efficient staff who keep a good eye on everything. Loves the crisp fish I ordered. It's a bit pricey but the food is of very good quality and flavour with a very generous portion!
L. L.
Very nice bun Cha ha nội
N. M.
Amazing food, suggest stick to Vietnamese classics instead of some of the Chinese inspired dishes.
Best spring rolls (sapa signature) in Melbourne and truly authentic to North Vietnamese cuisine.
Z. H.
Extensive menu, tasty food and good service.
P. C.
Very good food but the "music" was way too loud. When one of our party asked if it could be turned down, they were told "sorry mate, but it's Friday". Apparently that means you have to but up with excessive noise while you eat your meal!??
W. J.
We have been enjoying eating at Sapa Hills for years. Never had a bad experience. Long and his staff are always very welcoming and helpful. The spring rolls are the best in Melbourne as is the salt and pepper squid. BYO or good wine by the glass.
l. g.
This place is just delicious. Everything I have had here has been super yum and I will keep coming back to try more things. The pad see ew is next level! The Mee goren wings are definitely worth a try! Actually make sure you try something new each time you come here as you never know when you might find a new favourite. Like I said everything I have tried has been a hit!
M. C.
I enjoy coming in here for quick, not-too-expensive work lunches with colleagues. With a huge menu, everyone's bound to find something they want to eat and service is usually quick and cheerful.
s. b.
good place to try variety of Vietnamese foods, pricing are reasonable. Nice and efficient services. the restaurant is a little small and cluster especially at peak time, but that is expect in Footscray anyway. will definately come back
F. D.
So tasty. Great cocktails, flavoursome food. Not the place you go for a meaningful conversation, but the atmosphere encourages a good time and good eats had by all
D. H. S.
I have never had a bad meal at Sapa Hills or Sapa Sister, always love eating here! The food is delicious, the service is always so friendly and knowledgeable and it just has an over all great feeling when you are there. Thanks so much! :)
R. L.
The food in general is decent. However, consistency seems to be the problem. I have been eating here for a number of occasions and every time the food came out different regarding both presentation and seasoning. And the music choice is not very appealing for dinning.
J. A. F.
Sapa Hills and Sapa sister in Footscray are simply flawless and always so friendly and welcoming - Good luck getting a table immediately but wait it will be worth it 100%. I advise going of the chefs special menu, some of the dishes are so moorish you will be guaranteed to want to revisit. Our favourite dish at this place is without a doubt the simply but so delicious Sticky Chilli Caramel Chicken Ribs ........ They are even better than they sound!
D.
Sapa Hills aims to be a cut above the rest and delivers. It does this with a great wine and beer list, tasteful decor and a diverse menu that's not the same as 20 other Vietnamese restaurants in Footscray. Yet it's still great value for money.
A. S.
Lovely food and atmosphere! Food a bit pricey but you get good quality/large meals. Overall great night and will definitely be back. Thankyou guys!
P. H.
Great food. Upbeat modern presentation. The atmosphere is vibrant. The decor a little eclectic. Quick service.. well frequented. Book now you won't be disappointed.
G. G.
Thanks for having vegan options. The vegan pho should not be call pho. It's a let down.
What is with 2.5% charge on card payments? Annoying. Going backwards in time.
M. H.
Fried noodles in xo was delish
L. S.
Everything about this place was great. The food, the drinks list, the atmosphere, waiting time, all the staff. We went on a Saturday night and even though it was busy we were seated straight away. Will definitely be back!
V. H.
Amazing food, most packed joint for a reason...foood!
C. W.
Awesome feed.
Had the Betel leaf entree with Steak Greens + Eggplat chicken hot pot.
They were all very flavorful, yum and well balanced.
Recommended eatery.
A. N.
Very tailored to the Instagram kids and the true authentic Vietnamese flavours have been diluted to accommodate that western palate. I wouldn't recommend for those wanting to experience that authenticity. For myself it is overpriced for the …
A. R. S.
Food is fresh, delicious and super tasty!
D. l.
Best Pho Bo I've had outside of Vietnam. Enormous steaming bowl for $15, that smell that makes all you worries disappear. I'd rate 5 stars if there were some more condiments available. Not that the soup needs it, but if I'd go there regularly I want to be able to tweak it.
A. S.
Lovely food and atmosphere! Food a bit pricey but you get good quality/large meals. Overall great night and will definitely be back. Thankyou guys!
K. O.
Surprisingly good little Restaurant in Footscray. Tasty food in Hanoi Northern Viet style at great price.
Won’t be disappointed, it is packed with customers even on a Tue night. They …

Always a great meal and generous portions. You could have one main meal between two for sure. Flavours are always drool worthy, and I love to come back as the service is also fantastic.
P. C.
Simply excellent restaurant and bar, with food a little different (ok, a lot different) to standard Vietnamese fare elsewhere on this Street. …
A. D.
My favourite Vietnamese restaurant in Melbourne so far. I've been there 3 times and tried different dishes every time. Each one of them was great. Also the portion of food food is quite generous. I recommend the rice dish with chicken and salted mackerel fish
F. D.
So tasty. Great cocktails, flavoursome food. Not the place you go for a meaningful conversation, but the atmosphere encourages a good time and good eats had by all
a. k.
So many places to choose from in Footscray but this one is the absolute favorite; Chef’s Special are nothing short of brilliant!
M. P.
Top quality Vietnamese classic food with a quick kitchen. Great beers, wine and spirits menu. Worth a trip.
B. J.
Good food. But restaurants not accepting AMEX at all is a real annoyance for business customers. Worst case scenario, have a surcharge or work it into your pricing.
D. P.
Great Bun (Rice Vermicelli Noodle Salad)
A. M.
Amazing food, been here twice now and shared approx. 10 dishes with the group's I have been with and there had not been a bad one amongst them.
A. R.
Food was delicious. Fresh, tasty, great balance of flavours. Fast, friendly and efficient service. Definitely worth a visit. Prices good as well.
T. T. T.
The most popular and trendy Vietnamese restaurant in Fooscray. Nice food and drink. Need to book.
B. R. (.
Very good fresh food and very reasonable price.
B. C.
Delicious food, unfortunately service was pretty average. Would not admit they forgot our order after waiting over an hour for food and seeing other guests who came in after us and ordered the same thing get their food first. Hope for better luck next time
N. U.
The grilled chicken Pho with vegetables was pretty average. The service was ok although the morning I went in there's was some construction happening in the kitchen & it was pretty loud & annoying. I think to drown that they were playing loud RNB music which I didn't think was good. The vegetables in the soup consititurf to just a few broccoli & monk Choy. The broth was watery so there could be improvement overall!
P. A.
Has gone downhill somewhat in recent times in terms of menu and service, parts of orders forgotten, substituting ingredients, etc. A good selection of craft beers compared to most Asian restaurants in Footscray.
Overall, I'd suggest a punt on one of the myriad Asian options on Barkly street.
L. D.
What a great place for Vietnamese food and an awesome collection of craft beer. Friendly and helpful staff to offer nice recommendations for food and drinks. Definitely coming back for more 😍
A. N.
Fave orders here - Sapa Special Spring Rolls and the Rice Vermicelli with Hanoi-style Grilled Pork. The Fried Wantons are also meaty and filling, and the Vermicelli with Sugarcane Prawns are good as well! One of my fave spots in Footscray.
S.
Good food but not always consistent. The quality has been a little different each time we've visited. Busy place but staff are always able to find you a seat
M. T.
I love this little place in the heart of Footscrays hustle and bustle. The menu offers a generous variety in Vietnamese dishes, and a plethora of Asian beers (must try 333 if you're into beer!).
L. L.
Nothing too special, but great ambience and fast service. Not exactly authentic, slightly fusion if that's what you like
A. D.
The beef pho was awesome!! The broth is very flavourful. Would highly recommend this restaurant :)
T. F.
Really nice clean food. Spring rolls are super crispy, and the smoked brisket jungle curry is awesome. Service is friendly
C. S.
Hands down my favourite restaurant ever. Never had a bad meal here and the staff are always friendly. I wish I could give more stars!
N. D.
Lovers of Vietnamese cuisine will find themselves spoilt for choice in Footscray. But a choice has to be made and without doubt you should consider Sapa Hills high on the list. Food, service, price and decor are excellent. For carnivores, the stir fried duck is about as perfect an Asian dish as I've had in years. Any fears of duck's notorious fattiness are dispelled immediately - it's tender, lean and delicately spiced with perfectly crisp vegetables. The sizzling steak in black pepper sauce is good, if a little more braised than people may expect and the vege spring rolls are fresh, fried in clean, new oil. Lovely, efficient staff and much more inviting an atmosphere than many of its neighbours. It'll be my 'go to' Vietnamese spot on the drag in Footscray.
W. L.
Great food and atmosphere. Price can be ott for footscray area. Go to Sapa Sister next door for a more relaxing atmosphere
G. L. (. L. M.
This is our local favorite. always busy and fun. Can be a bit loud sometimes good food, huge beer and wine collection. mid range pricing
N. S.
Great food and service but they always seems to get my order wrong even though I come fairly often and always order the same thing. It’s fine if I’m eating there as they’re happy to correct it for me but it’s just frustrating when I make a point of repeating and confirming my order and it’s still wrong.
B. J.
Vegetarian fried rice was very generous and yummy. Comes with plenty of tofu. Vegetarian Spring Rolls were also great!
C. B.
Always busy, which shows you how good the food is. What surprised me was it's diverse range of beer: everything from Vietnamese beer, to local Footscray craft beer, and stuff in between.
j. R.
A. W.
A little bit fancier than the rest of Footscray, always great food. The salt and pepper squid was cooked perfectly. You'll spend about $25/head including alcohol.
G. P.
Friendly staff, well priced, beautifull food. Looking forward to dining at Sapa Hills again.
M.
Excellent food and service - met the local mayor on the way-out- friendly chap!
V. T.
I wanted my bun cha fix and was not disappointed one bit. The Sapa spring rolls are spectacular too....great northern Vietnamese food experience.
J. H.
Loses a star because I found it intolerably loud. Amazing food and selection however, unless you can stand a very noisey dinning experience I would think carefully about the timing of your meal.
R. H.
Great tasting food, large serving proportions and super friendly staff.
K. W.
the broken rice with shredded pork here is a must. Anyone that feels like a rice dish should definitely try it. Will definitely come back!
T. T.
Very good tasty Vietnamese. More vegetarian options though
S. B.
Excellent foods and drink menu. Consistent service and quality most of the time. Sitting area can be abit tight at times especially at peak times. Overall a good experience nevertheless
F. H.
Definitely give this restaurant a try! The menu is a bit dearer than most restaurants in the vicinity but so worth it. Amazingly friendly service.
M. L.
Bit more on the pricey side for Footscray but well worth it! Meals are large (we went home with left overs!), and delicious and service is fast and friendly.
A. H.
Best spring rolls I've had in Australia so far !!
The meat was tasty and had that wooden bbq flavour, amazing !
M. E.
This place in Footscray is great. Where as the sapa hills food in hawthorn is awful. I don't want to rate the hawthorn shop as I find it lacks spice and heat. Footscray sapa hill is 4++ , and the hawthorn sapa hill is a 2.
E. S.
Delicious range of food, quick service, a top spot in Melbourne west
O. S.
Delicious food and awesome beer selection! Lovely staff to boot! Can’t recommend enough! 🍻 😋 ✌️
J. K. (.
Love this place. Meals are great. However, sometimes the meals dont come out at the same time and be prepared to be squished in like a sardine.
C. H.
Great food. Great service - the staff kindly sang Happy Birthday for my son, the whole restaurant joined in. Highly recommend it for a night out.
M. D. (. D.
Sapa Hills is a very good Vietnamese restaurant with a wide selection on the menu. Most of the dishes were very good, nice ambience and reasonable price.
S. V.
Busy restaurant.
Bookings will be a better idea.
Very good food. Large selection of alchohol(i think, i dont drink).
3×2person outdoor seating available.
Not much for ambience.
S.
Juices are super fresh and refreshing 👍🏻
food is good.
I'd give 5 stars if bathrooms were clean.
D. V.
The most authentic Vietnamese vermicelli with grilled pork and Hanoi spring rolls outside of Hanoi. The wait staff even speak Vietnamese with a northern accent... That's dedication.
R. A.
Great food Great price
E. M.
Great food and friendly service. The place is always packed but worth lining up for. I recommend the whole flounder in salt and pepper.
C. N.
Wonderful staff and the food was fantastic. We'll be back again, thank you formaking us feel so welcome🌟🌟🐇🐰
C. S.
Awesome, well presented food, excellent flavours and colours. A very vibrant scene. 5 Stars, definitely make a stop here
j. s.
One of our favourite restaurants in Footscray, great good and a great craft beer selection. I think the beer list is as long as the menu.
E. F.
Great food, get there early if you don't have a booking because it gets busy! The staff are very friendly with good service.
W. L.
One of the best meals you will ever have. All dishes have amazing flavour. Easy 5 stars!
D. L.
Really one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Melbourne. Good value, amazing food. Worth a drive to Footscray to experience it.
E. G.
Mind blowing! Had the caramel chilli chicken ribs with green papaya salad #25 on menu with grilled beef skewers in betel leaf. Heaven on earth!
A. N.
Good food great place to eat
M. R.
Nice & happening place .. really good vibes .. came with my family for a birthday dinner .. loved every bit of it ... duck with chilli & basil was really spot on . My 6 year old boy loved the fried fish ..fried rice was really good too .. will highly recommend This place to all my friends and family..
T. H. N.
Great modern Vietnamese restaurant. Definitely come back. Must try their black ice coffee is so refresh on a hot summer day.
M. P.
Really good food, would definitely eat here again. It's not a very spacey place and noise level is a tad high.
R. P.
I think this could be our new regular Vietnamese. Pho as good as any of their neighbours, with the bonus of a big craft beer menu and a comfy, contemporary setting.
G. D.
I wanted to give a slightly lower score but tbh the serving sizes are very fair for the price, tastes good, any gripes I have are just service related and for the area... Who cares really?
A. O.
Yummy pho, beef tender and broth very tasty, but please check your beef balls regularly as they tasted a bit off during my Friday night dinner.
A. P.
Fantastic vegan pho!!! Fresh, delicious food, arrived promptly, great place
N. M.
Food and service is 100% every time. The chicken ribs are mouth watering. One of my favourite places to eat!
P. C.
Three of us were here for lunch. Good service, food looked good shame that all three dishes we ordered were very salty.
F. F. F.
Good pho :D
B. H.
Excellent service, excellent ribs and chicken coleslaw, but unfortunately the fried spring rolls and red duck curry are really terrible and the fried calamari is just average.
W. Z.
Went there for the first time, quick service, staff are very attentive and helpful. Ordered softshell crab and broken rice, I really enjoyed the tasty food
R. L.
Excellent food and quick service. It can be a bit crowded sometimes but turnover is quick. I highly recommend the rare cooked beef coleslaw.
C. M. H.
Foods were good! I will come back next time.
M. R.
The most amazing tasting Vietnamese restaurant!! Been multiple times, plan on a return visit again shortly. On my shortlist for best restaurant
C. M.
Great food, maybe not as traditional as some Vietnamese restaurants but still tasty
U. T.
Pricey for mediocre food.
The shaking beef was a tad too salty.
R. W.
The pho is delicious! Really cute atmosphere and decor
