It's an OK yum cha place, but not the best. Food was OK, but didn't satisfy my wife in terms of taste & some dishes were too soft without texture. AC was a bit insufficient during very hot day. The restaurant might have missed our reservation. Luckily we went early and still managed to get a table. The manager staff were nice, but some of the waitresses needed more improvement on explaining dishes. Most of the time, they didn't speak at all, simply rolled the trolley next to you. (shy or language?)

Authentic Chinese Cantonese cuisine at decent prices. Ask the manager for recommendations and he will set you up. Service staff were polite and efficient and everyone works hard here from the kitchen to the front of the room. You can BYO here as well. Make a call for reservations to find out more and to book early. I understand this place has been here for many many years and it shows signs of that, but it's not that tired or smells bad. Recommended if you like real Chinese food and not the type from the malls or shopping complexes.

Hadn’t been for a number of years and was a bit concerned by the poor reviews. However food was as delicious as I remember and service was above and beyond. Particularly the manager and waiter with the bright coloured hair made us feel welcome and engaged the kids. A very special experience that transports you to Hong Kong . Will be back

Great overall yum cha experience, one area I think they can improve on is customer service. Not that it’s bad, but it’s not great either or anything that leaves an impression. Portions are generous. I recommend calling a staff member if you are looking for something specific, in case it doesn’t come in the trolley. My recommendations are the chicken feet, spare ribs and silken tofu for dessert.

One of the better places to go for dim sum. Good variety and not overly salty. Love the egg tarts and white bait. I think the prices may have gone up.. But can't blame them as it's likely due to pandemic pressures. Recommend booking ahead of time.

Thus restaurant has been around for a long long time and is still dishing up excellent dishes both for lunch (served as yum cha) or dinner (a la carte). Recently has had the interior renovated and has a nice atmosphere about the place. Staff are all very polite and have also been around for ages which is nice when they recognise you as a repeat customer. Food is always delicious and waiters can also give you excellent recommendations.

Well gotta say l was abit disappointed. Sat at the table for awhile and had to ask for a waiter to order then the food came out and know one came near us the whole time even when we wanted the bill. First time dining here was way back in 1987 when I was studying in Harvest Bible College @ Dandenong North. BEST dim sum spreads I enjoyed & service was EXCELLENT back then. Treated my South African guest Mr Roderick Abrahams with his family, wife Marion, son Marvin, daughters Odelia & Sharon. Later years in 2012, I tried the Chinatown branch but was very disappointed with most of the Supervisors who were rude, loud, haughty & unwelcoming.

Absolutely Worth it: Been coming here for almost 20 years now. Love it; busy, crazy and the food is fantastic. Had their crayfish quiet a few times, love it cooked in garlic and spring onions. I’ve never left hunger or disappointed and love the staff.

Overall happy with this place except the flavours on all the dim sums tried were bland and similar. I love Hong Kong dim sum and frequent these places often. Averaging $50 for myself in dumplings and other plates. Can't say I'm a food critic but I do know what I like. Kind of disappointed last visit because it wasn't as flavourful as I remembered. Service is top notch. Ambience is old school Cantonese style restaurant. Decor has not changed much and reminiscent of days I used to go with various family and friends.

Great Yum Cha experience. Plenty of tasty dishes. So easy to over indulge so pace yourself. Provided it's not the end of the service there is usually a chance to revisit something you particularly found appealing. Nice range of food but it's all of a particular sort eg dumplings and various fried morsels etc.

Went there on Mothers Day and we did expect to wait a little while for our food given the fact it was busy, however, it took almost 50 minutes for the food to arrive. We had two very hungry children with us and all we could do was wait and hope the food would come soon. There was no indication as to when the food would be ready and no apology for the delay from the waitress. When the food was delivered it was tasty and very enjoyable. We have always enjoyed the meals here. Service was a little sketchy - room for improvement by our waitress on the night.

This is one of my family's favourite restaurants, so we've stepped up to support them during lockdown periods; doing our bit to ensure they stay open. Fresh, authentic and expertly cooked meals. Great Yum Cha and dinner menu. Dine in experience is great (and for those saying you have to be Chinese, we aren't) and as we've been coming here for a while and the staff recognise us. Also, on request they make one of our favourite dishes ever, the prawn meat balls, which every single member of my family love (kids to adults). BYO alcohol with corkage.

We keep returning to Shark Fin Inn for Yum Cha (Dim Sum) as this is one of the best places to get great tasting and well made Dim Sum in the South Eastern suburbs. Award winners for 2007 and 2008 and the food has remained always top quality this whole time. Their yum cha service comes with a tremendous variety. They are able to take special requests. They do wonderful fresh fish. They care for their customers. Their chairs and tables are comfortable and practical. They are nice and clean. The food and the service is the best, not just for the area of keysborough but as a rival to the restaurants in the heart of Melbourne. Great place to take your family. Accepting of multiple faith communities too. This is always a bonus I find.

Went there for yum cha and the place gets really busy as soon as the doors open so make sure you book a table. Staff are really attentive although they do forget about what you ask them for at times which is understandable considering how full the place gets. The chilli oil is probably one of the worst i have ever tasted it just had a weird taste to it. Dumplings are good but i feel like they have substituted the filling with processed imitation seafood to bulk it up. This use to be my favourite go to yum cha but quality has definitely dropped. Everything was so heavily salted we just couldn't eat anymore....the desserts were delicious you can never go wrong with the mango pudding.

The people serving the food don't seem to have a set route and on 2-3 occasions we had to be asked to be served as they walked past us or bypassed us altogether. This is with us sitting on the upper level. Noticed there were at least 4 tables in this area also having the same issue (requesting food,asking multiple times for drinks, etc).

Thank you Shark Fin manager and staff for a wonderful evening. We celebrated my husband's 79th birthday on Saturday night. I made the booking over the phone as there were 15 of us. We had a round table where we all could sit together. I went the day before and with the menu and the help of the manager pre-ordered dishes of choice. The food arrived as ordered, and dishes replaced those that were finished. Everyone - including the kids - commented on how great and deliccious the food was. For a large party I would recommend pre-ordering the dishes which saves time and the food is promplty served once everyone had arrived etc. Will definitely come again for a meal, but now want to try yum-cha! Again, thank you!

A family favourite, delicious yum cha. The best Chinese in the area. So many favourite dishes. Yum cha is busy even on a weekday. My go to is the xiao long bao (shanghai dumplings) For dinner Sweet corn fish is yum and they use very high quality breast meat for the lemon chicken. Mango mousse with mango ice-cream for dessert.
