This restaurant serves very good yet simple food. We always order their pasta dishes as their serving is so generous and cooked in classic styles. Steak, garlic prawns and veal dishes are excellent. Their duty manager provides outstanding customer service. It’s always our family’s go to place to celebrate special events.

This restaurant is always amazing. Their food is fantastic (just as good as Lygon Street). Went recently to support them during covid and although the manager informed us they were very short staffed (as many places are currently) they still had speedy, friendly service. Please support this venue and keep them going during this difficult time.

This is a large Italian restaurant located in the Center. The staff are friendly and attentive. The food is pretty nice and the prices quite reasonable. The negative would be I had to change my sons nappy on the floor of the women’s toilets as I couldn’t find a changing area

Incredible hospitality experience! We came here for dinner and although our table was slightly delayed, the main bartender (Reish) was a true professional to host us at the bar with complimentary starter and cocktails. Cannot compliment him enough. He makes negroni’s like the Japanese make samurai swords. Great atmosphere with the music, decor of the place and of course incredible food. Highly recommended. 💞

We visited Melbourne to watch a show at the theatre and stumbled into the spaghetti tree by accident. The food was first class and the prices were outstanding. After lunch we watched part one of our show, and returned to the spaghetti tree for dinner because we were so impressed. Service was breathtakingly fast. Service was also exceptionally friendly. It is rare that you get a combination of great food and great service. Next time we visit theatre we will also be visiting the spaghetti tree!

My sister recommends the lasagne, I had the chicken risotto (the kitchen accommodated my request for no mushrooms) which we both really enjoyed. The risotto was simple but delicious. We fed three people, with a shared entree and a drink each for just under $100

Fantastic food and atmosphere. We went here on a Sunday evening before the theatre and we could not have been more happy. Food was exquisite, so full of flavour and an excellent size. I also had the Tiramisu which would have been the best I’ve ever had. Certainly a recommended for anyone in town or from out of town.

Quite popular with families, if you have kids, or you're just looking to sit down with Friends, this is a welcoming option. The food I had was delicious. Very juicy Chicken, and my partner's ravioli was a awesome.

This restaurant deserves 5/5 despite what the rating currently states. The bartender, Vish, alone, made our experience second to none. The drinks were incredible and delicately made, the food was incredible, and the service was fantastic. Couldn’t recommend Spaghetti Tree enough!!!

Nice food, very kitschy decor, the spaghetti tree seems to have been in Melbourne forever. Staff were very friendly, and obviously deal with theater patrons a lot, checking with us of we had a theater deadline to ensure we were served as promptly possible. The food is comforting if a little old school, but still delicious. They had quite a few gluten free options and seemed to understand the issue, my wife had no problems finding something she wanted and enjoyed everything.

What a blast from my past coming here after many years of dining elsewhere. It has to have been in the late 70’s that I first came here and really it hasn’t changed much. Food and expectations change though but it was like slipping on an old pair of jeans. Atmosphere nice and easy. Service by staff good. Meals came out quickly and in good portion sizes. Had to have the carbonara. Nice flavours. It’s also a great place to do some people watching of Bourke Street pedestrians. Wheelchair friendly. Pram and stroller accessible. Tram right out the front. Will return. Sorry it was so long between visits.

It's a bit hard to describe the place as thriving as we ate their mid week and that always influences whether the place is crowded or not. The service was excellent. My brother and I visited Melbourne for 2 nights to see Harry Potter and The Cursed Child at the Princess Theatre. During our 2 hour intermission, we decided to try Spaghetti Tree's authentic homemade Italian food. We were really impressed with the quality and taste of the food and the service was wonderful. Our waiter Lucas, went above and beyond to ensure that we were enjoying our food. Everything was delicious and not too expensive either. We've been enjoying the beautiful ambiance, food and service at Spaghetti Tree since the '70s!! Lovely for a quick lunch before the theatre, and perfect for a date for two or a party booking. I visited this place with a friend on a Wednesday night on another friend's recommendation. Service was prompt and there was a decent range of choice for a vegetarian. I really enjoyed my pumpkin ravioli - nothing fancy but filling and tasty - my friend was less keen on hers. Interior is like a pub - lots of timber and carpet - and the drinks menu had milkshakes and spiders which I thought was a nice touch. No idea if they split bills.

Four (4) of us have been coming to this restaurant for many years to celebrate our Christmas gatherings and we still will be. Cannot complain about the food or service which are all excellent. Staff attentive but not watching us or hovering about which is annoying. Toilets are clean and tidy. This is probably a bit nerdy to mention but I love all the old pictures and other paraphernalia in the restaurant. Comfortable, air-conditioned and does get packed.

What a great place! The food was beautiful and very reasonably priced. My mother is gluten intolerant and they were more than willing to explain which items on the menu were available as gluten free options. The staff were as friendly as they were helpful. Also the lack of split bills is complicated by the prices. Highly recommend it to anyone interested in a consistent venue to catch up with a friend or family.

I have been going here for over 30 years. Great food and ambiance, especially Fridays for dinner. Only complaint is their current front of house manager. I have noticed on several occasions he is quite rude / mean to his staff and on occasions patrons. For such a fine restaurant and its longevity I'm amazed he gets away with it. I might have to say something next time I notice it as it spoils the night. It's not always but as I go there regularly I notice it probably more than others.

Meals aren’t bad, place is good. Been twice now and on both occasions the pasta was under cooked. There a difference between adentè and undercooked. Its also a traditional Italian restaurant but run by Indians chefs. Come on guys. Do you send a jar of vegimite to the Europeans and say eat this? Stick with traditional people who know the traditional food and how it’s meant to be cooked the traditional way.

Something they did that surprised me was the wait staff asked if we were seeing a show and what time we needed to be there to ensure we would have enough time for the meal, this was a welcome touch and could have been useful if pushed for time.

No salad, stock standard shoe string fries and barely any sauce on the parma. Don't know what type of bread, but garlic bread served on thick, dry bread. We took the opportunity to grab some dinner before heading to the theater and were hunting for a family friendly restaurant. With 1 child with sensory processing issues dinner can often be a challenge when it comes to new places and unknown foods. From the moment we walked in this place hit the mark. Despite being quite busy it was distinctly quiet (plenty of talking around tables but not a lot of noise) AMD the wait staff were highly attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The food, which was served quite promptly, was delicious and true to the authentic taste of Italy. Further the staff were very alert to potential allegen issues - I asked for my dessert to have no nuts and the waiter questioned if this was due to an anaphylaxis issue (it wasn't) as one ingredient may have contained traces of nuts. 10/10 will be heading here again!

Grand final weekend without a booking... Only had to wait 10min or so for a table. Family, and more importantly kid friendly. Good selection on the menu for all tastes. A big thank you to the very attentive staff & particularly the main gentleman who manned the floor. Having a toddler while visiting Melbourne, we weren't sure where would cater for kids. Luckily we asked our hotel reception who recommended spaghetti tree. I have to admit the actual spaghetti was nothing to ride home about but my little toddler made such a mess! We were so embarrassed but the staff & main guy on the floor just smiled & laughed. She shoveled it down plus the nuggets & chips. While we were waiting for our food (which didn't take long to come out at all I might add), the main guy on the floor asked if we wanted bread for our toddler before our food came out. Just the sheer attentiveness to her needs, I can't even begin to be thankful for. He even offered a warm towel to clean her up with afterwards! A very big thank you again & we definitely know where to go next time we visit Melbourne again.

Maybe I'm missing something judging by the other reviews here but overall I absolutely adored this place. I had the pumpkin ravioli and it was absolutely delicious! I wanted more and more with each bite. Our waiter was a young Sardinian gentleman who was very patient and a really interesting person to talk to. Interior and artwork is very Italian and the violinist was a fantastic touch. Will not hesitate to return. Do yourself a favour and stop in. Did I mention my panna cotta was superb?

The first night we enjoyed a bottle of wine and the gnocchi and cannelloni. The service was very friendly and we enjoyed the atmosphere very much. The second night was such a thrill to return with a very friendly welcome back by the waiter who served us the previous time and the manager remembering us as well. This time we ordered the Veal Scallopini and Veal Saltimbocca. This has to be the friendliest restaurant in Melbourne and the food was truly excellent. Vesh and the crew were very generous with their time and service and I look forward to returning to try another dish on the menu. The coffe is also excellent and I recommend you finish with the pannacotta and a port. 10/10 see you all again soon.

In short...dusty, crusty and musty. There has been some attempt at ambiance in the restaurant with interesting old artifacts placed around, but ultimately, that was a long time ago and it's tired. Very dusty and really needs gutted and cleaned form top to toe and re thought as it just all feels like the artifacts, kinda chucked together. Staff were fine and no issues there but nothing great from them, certainly smiles and pleasant. We had Lasgane and another pasta dish. Both were cool in temperature but edible just, and really not that nice. Far to seasoned and far too much on the plate. I'd have been happier with 50% less if it tasted good. Kinda felt like being in a very old persons house and them making you a meal, not bad, but a little uncomfortable and well, crusty feeling and sorry..'old!'

Great dinner on 18/11/2017 with charcoal infused Kuro prawns and calamari salad, a great combination of flavours. The barramundi was very good with its amazingly crisp skin, a great contrast of textures. Very nice spring lamb cutlets. To finish a very good apple and salted caramel tart and an excellent tropical pannacotta. I cannot miss on the pannacotta when I am here, Handi the chef has to be the King for pannacotta! Thank you for a great meal.

I walk pass this place everyday so I had to try it once. Excellent decor, good service from the moment you enter the place but dear oh dear, the food! My wife and I feld like we were eating at a cafeteria or worse. Tried canelloni and lasagna. The lasagna were a stack of pasta sheets cooked together, lumped on the plate and covered with bolognese sauce. No white sauce, no cheese, no sauce btw the sheets. In fact it was so bad that our neighbour, who also had the lasagna, made a complaint and had them for free. As for the canelloni, overcooked, with cheap stuffing and again, covered with bad bolognese (if you call that bolognese). I love Italian food, I cook Italian food, and I can do a better bolognese, lasagna or canelloni without even trying hard. Overall, cheap yes, but not worth anything in fact! A shame, because the decor, the atmosphere, the live musician, the old costumers etc, all work so well together and make this place so special, but if the food is horrible...then all that is for nothing in my opinion.
