Aside from the curries being a little bit too oily and tandoori prawns a bit too salty for our taste, the flavours were amazing, serving sizes generous and service (delivery) was great. Perfect Delicious Authentic Indian (Desi) food in Melbourne. Must Try Once, thereafter you'll be repeat customer yourself. Cooks Fresh Meals with Self blended spices. Run by a gorgeous young couple, whose wife herself is the head chef and brings some of her own home made classics and tradional recipes for the world to try. Yum yum yum!

Tried the tandoori prawns, pomfret fry and crab curry. It was delicious :) One of the best spots in Melbourne. Really authentic, reminded me of home. Crab curry is a must try !! Chef is accommodating of the various spice levels, and everything is made fresh, so it takes time for the order to be prepared, but it's worth the wait 👍

I’ve lived next to this gem for more than a year and never thought to try it. I would travel all the way to footscray my indian food fix. And then I was told I should try it. Let me tell you I was BLOWN AWAY. The goat curry was tender and incredibly flavourful. The naans were soft and yummy. I’ve even gone back just for the mango lassi. The staff are so lovely. I will be back every-time I want a delicious meal. The freshly cooked dishes is worth every penny and minute of wait time.

A nice and cozy place to get really tasty authentic Indian food. Had ordered one of my all time favorite dishes - tandoori chicken, and was amazed with the flavours and the marination was just awesome. Also tried the zafrani nawabi Tikka was was really delicious. The owner, Hari, is very friendly and asks your food preferences beforehand so that the food suits your palette. Vegan & Gf options galore! Randomly found this place on my drive home from a new job and it was very late, (its always so hard to find decent vegan food late). They had so many options, the staff were brutally honest about their favourite dishes and the ones they helped me choose were DELICIOUS! Try the food and you will see why Spice Mix easily gets five stars. I heard another customer remarking to the chef about the amazing aroma from the spices. The chef/owner, understands food and the use of quality ingredients and traditional preparation very well. Unlike other places he does not compromise on ingredients. He also does not compromise on cooking, telling us the preparation will take time. This makes me happy because real food takes time. No microwave. I love the music... and the chai! Thank you. Me and a friend enjoy coming here before checking out the night life on Chapel St. The owner is very hard working and wants his customers to have the best experience. This is premium Indian food so it is understandable the portions are a little smaller than at other places, but because of the quality they are just as satisfying, or even more so! I am sure this chef will become a celebrity one day in the industry, because he is very social and friendly with the customers and he is prepared to use the best ingredients and cooking methods. This is a flavour journey well worth a visit. I'm no Indian specialist, others may comment on how authentic it is, we were surrounded by Indian families so that speaks for itself? What I can say is that the service is exceptional, Hari is passionate about what he does, and does it with a smile and great kindness. Seriously one of the best restaurant in Melbourne. My family and I visited the restaurant looking at the reviews at 10:30pm and the manager was really a nice guy who accomodated us really quickly. The service here is outstanding and the food was out of this world, we ordered so much that we sat there for almost two hours just eating everything on the menu and each and every food was freshly made and cooked to perfection. Got a chance to taste both authentic Indian and Nepalese food. I’m originally from Nepal and turns the manger was Nepalese as well and he ended up giving us a discount as well. We received an outstanding hospitality and really very good food. We even did a take away of the dishes because we were literally full and couldn’t eat anymore. Will 100% visit this again and again. I accidentally stumbled upon this restaurant searching for late night food yesterday and I have to say I might have had one of the best tasting goat curries in Melbourne. Hari the chef was keen and attentive asking my group the right spice level for our taste, this is all when taking our order at 1 PM and I have to say all the food tasted excellent and felt it was made freshly. The best part is he asked for feedback on the food at the end and asked if he can make any improvements. I was very impressed by this and am looking forward to having more more food here.

Food is great and hospitality is excellent 👌 Mr. Biplove is very generous to make up a table when all the tables were booked (I recommend to give a call before coming). Miss Shanti is a lovely girl, well presented and took my order very accurately. Suggested some dishes to compliment the starters I ordered. I have ordered chikken tikka, which is sizzling and piping hot. Flavour and yoghurt marination is awesome. Chicken is well cooked and smoked well which added perfect tandoori touch. Onions and cabbage salad is garnished on hot pan which got burnt, I wish they serve salad separate with mint sauce instead of garnishing on pan. I also ordered mango chicken with butter naan. Chef played well with the flavours of mango chicken. Spices and mango nectar was a perfect balance in the curry. Though it is on sweeter note, tasted incredible and went well with butter naan bread. Manager/owner took some time to come out of kitchen to address every customer to grab honest feedback. Which is really great and shows their dedication towards the industry and business in general. Overall a great experience and will visit again when I travel this side.

I must say that Spice mix is One of the best place to eat in melbourne, where u enjoy the original desi food. Tucked in quietly at Lygon Street, This place is one of the best Cross South Asian restaurant I've ever been to in Melbourne. Don't expect an authentic traditional food but what you get here is an excellent blend of Indo subcontinental fusion (Specialised in Indo-Nepalese cuisine). We went there after work late at night, the food and the hospitality surprised us. We had to go there again and we did the very next day with all of our friends. We loved everything we ordered. Everything looked and tasted organic. We found out from a staff that all the spices they use are homemade (No wonder the taste reminded us of Nepal). Our Order: Mixed Chaat, 2 *Jhol MoMo + 2 more as the taste was just heavenly. Plain Naan with Chicken Kadhai and Palak Paneer (Naan was so soft and fluffy and the curries were the best I've ever tasted in Melbourne). 3*Biryani(Chicken) - The most authentic layered Biryani with Nepali taste. 7* Kingfisher Beer I'm surprised how we missed this place before. It needs more recognition as the Owner himself seemed so passionate about food. With what I've abstracted from our conversation Pramod ji(Owner) seemed to be a well travelled guy bringing all that travel experience and mixing it to create wonderful taste of South Asia. Only downside is the time they take to get your food out. But hey!! if they bring it out with such love and it tastes that good, we didn't mind waiting for it. Loved everything about this place. Firstly, it is homely, with staff only a stones throw away from friendship. Secondly, food so delicious you'll be begging for more, and finally, a welcoming vibe, Ed Sheeran or Bollywood will greet as you enter. After a light night banquet with my partner, I can honestly say neither of us have been fed so well, so cheaply, in the inner north despite, collectively 10 years residence. I would not skip this place for a million bucks, and the Chicken 65 may honestly be the best dish I've ever eaten on my life barring my mother's homemade pancakes. When asked about our spice choice he outlined how he thought we would like it (apparently Indian Medium and Australian Medium are completely different) and he got it spot on! Me and my wife are a Medium style couple and through how I explained it to Hari, he said "Maybe not Australian Medium but half way between". Next is the price, I couldn't believe it - 2 curries, 1 serving of rice and 4 roti for $42. This place is a true bang for your buck! This restaurant single handedly brought me back from the brink of despair. This is what I will eat on my wedding day.This is what I will eat as my last meal. There is no occassion that wouldnt be improved exponentially by the presence of this food. At my darkest of hours Spice Mix Restaurant's Veggie Korma is the only light at the end of the tunnel. I would sacrifice my first born child for a bite.

Spice Mix is an unassuming, unpretentious little place that serves amazing quality food with fantastic service. We ordered chicken tikka, and also jackfruit, eggplant, and lamb masalas. I can't fault any of them at all, they were all great. Try the jackfruit though, it's seriously so good 🤙🏽

Perfect Indian taste, this is my 3rd experience with spice mix...
