If anyone likes good cocktails, amazing food service and great vibe, this is the place to be. My first time here was January 2021 and have been back many more time since. I love their cocktails and you must try their green curry and the chicken wings. They are to die for. Many places have good food but lack in customer service but not at the Georges. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for good drinks, food, vibe and service. The price is also decent.

Beautiful refurbished restaurant in the Georges building. Delicious Asian food. Had vegetarian dumplings and stir fry cauliflower in extremely tasty chilli, sesame and peanut sauce. Loved it!! 3 others (all meat eaters) shared shrimp dumplings and pork belly, which they all said was delicious too. Rice fine but wasn't sold on the cauliflower pancakes. Had prosecco. Others red wine. Wanted coffee but unfortunately no decaf. Little boothes that seat 4 tucked away so you can have conversation without noise of too many diners next to you. Approx. $70 per head with drinks, Didi our waitress was very helpful and friendly. Dessert looked delicious, chilli chocolate mousse, but couldn't fit it in!

Great place for dinner and catching up with friends. It turns into a bar/nightclub after 10pm. with in-house DJ. Friendly staff and well managed place. Food is awesome, too, so are the cocktails. Just a tad on the high end with the price, but willing to forget that because pork belly and scallops were soooo delicious.

In January The George held a Hen's Night for my sister and the whole team could not have been anymore amazing. A huge shout out to the following ladies, Meg helped book in the event in December and was so helpful and reassuring of the unfolding COVID wave happening at the time. Jocey was absolutely amazing in the lead up to the event, she was so on top of everything and so accommodating, helpful and organised. Then the night of, Malerie was just so friendly, kind and patient, she did such an amazing job looking after us and was our sole server, and she did the most incredible job. And finally, Gabby who was our bartender she made sure no ones glass was empty, she kept going around the table to take drink orders and ensured everyone was at the table enjoying themselves rather than going up to the bar. It goes without saying, the food was to die for! We chose the Feed Me option and all of our guests were raving about the food for days later. I'm so grateful for everyone involved, you deserve all the praise. We were so grateful to everyone for making it such a memorable night. I know myself and our guests will definitely be back to enjoy the food and venue.

This is a nice venue but more of a bar than a restaurant. My partner and I ordered the scallops and yellow curry. They were both tasty but unfortunately the food temperature was barely lukewarm. It would have been nice to have hot food !

Upmarket restaurant without being too formal or stuffy. Great vibe and not too noisy on a weeknight. We ordered the banquet which was pretty good value and gave us a good taste of the menu. Experienced The George on Collins for New Years closing on 2020. The absolute pleasure it was to be apart of was incredible. The staff are more than helpful and cheerful to support you with anything you need. The food is perfection. Tender, juicy, flavourful meat and the salads add to cut the fat. Couldn’t be happier with the drink selection and the expert bartenders are wonderful to make you something special. Thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere with the DJ’s and the lighting. All in all a wonderful place where you are treated like royalty.

Celebrated my 30th in the private dining room the Den! Was a terrific evening. Katie could not have been more helpful to organize the event in the lead up to it. The night itself was made so special by the delicious banquet as well as the service we received by Amy throughout the night (very helpful and good fun as well!). Restaurant has a great atmosphere with the lighting, interior design and music and also provide you the option to have your own installations set up for birthdays etc. Highly recommend to those looking to celebrate any occasion in style!

The actual atmosphere of the place is quite nice. But has a bit of an uptight feel to it. It won't be a place you'd think of if you want to have a chill comfy kind of night. Definitely dress up for this place. Rumours are that you won't be let in with a daggy outfit - but we got lucky on our night. Cocktails are nice (would recommend the One Night In Paris). Food was a bit pricey for the amount you get (not to mention that the actual menu is $2 more expensive than the menu at the place. Might seem like a negligible difference, but when you've had a fair few drinks and some bites it adds up. For those who know The Establishment in Sydney - this is like that minus the dance floor (if you know what I mean). Edit: they changed the menu this time. Good was better. Still overpriced though. But hey - it's a nice place.

Came for a small bite and chill drinks. This place is big! Drinks are reasonably priced and have a slightly older upclass customer base which means it's less rowdy. Wasn't that packed on Saturday night which makes it easy to order drinks at the bar. There's individual booths along the wall which is a great touch. When the order came in originally, it was missing a few items but Katie really went above and beyond to return with our missing items and a bonus treat, she could not have made our experience better. My company is spoiling me during this second lockdown and for this Friday night delivered me The George of Collins - Private Chef. Even though I prefer to have the meals ready when I have them delivered at home, cooking this modern Southern East Cusine was quite easy. And then, everything tasted just delicious. We loved the Pumpkin curry & Shallot yellow curry with coconut milk and the dumplings, as like the mushroom and kale fried rice. The bonus was the One Night in Paris cocktail. I barely remember last time I had one (wrong glass, but that’s what I have available!), pared with the Vietnamese Opera Cake. Looking forward to go back to The George and its cocktails!

Attended Dining in the Dark. All dishes were quite sweet and eventually wasn't quite enjoyable. The meat main wasn't cooked that well, and the rice component was drenched in their sweet sauce. While it was fun, there's better Asian Fusion for the price.

Georges has really good food. Seriously good. But the service is not up to scratch, it took us nearly 3 hours to get mains finished (then it turned into a nightclub and waitstaff started cleaning our table before we got out). Not the fault of the waiters/waitresses, but understaffed and the venue seems caught between a great restaurant and a club. Would go again during the day/arvo for great food.

My friend and I attended the George on Collins for a night dinner and cocktails. The venue is stunning with lately decor and New York style booth. The menu is high end South East Asian. We sampled a number of items from the el a carte menu which were all absolutely delicious. The crispy pork belly is without doubt the best I have ever had in Melbourne. There is also the option for a feed me menu which we’ll definitely be back to try soon. After the dinner the venue turns into a late night upmarket vibe with a well dressed crowed. The music was upbeat and all creatively mixed by their amazing DJs. Thank you to Christos the manager who from the moment we walked into the venue welcomed us with a smile and ensured we had a perfect evening. His service was world class. I highly recommend this venue if you are looking for VIP dining and late night experience.

I’ve been going to the George for years now and also back when it was the Long Room. I went there for dinner last night and was absolutely blown away by the quality of the food. The menu features so many interesting dishes that are cooked in such a unique way, with obviously fresh ingredients. The service and the outdoor seating that has now been expanded to seat more guests (observing social distancing requirements) was just phenomenal. It’s one of the best dining experiences I have had in a very long time. If I could give 6 stars I would!

An absolutely fabulous place to host an event of any size. It was my husband’s 30th and the staff didn’t miss out on even the tiniest details with regards to decor, food, service, cake etc. The food was delicious and catered to all different kinds of palettes. Clair who was the sales and marketing manager did an amazing job and so did Marial (I hope I got her name right!) who was looking after us for the night. The pastry chef made the cake exactly per the photo I shared. Simply amazed with the hospitality and an incredible experience. This place has my highest recommendation!!

Ordered the George on Collins Pop up dinner last weekend, what an Asian fusion feast! The lobster on a leaf thingy had such punchy flavour, wow its like flavour bomb exposed in your mouth! Our chicken Curry and mushroom fried rice were both super yummy! And that dessert cake was literally art on plate! Was so happy! Never been to the George on Collins, when I went to pickup, the venue's decor really caught my eyes! Can't wait for the restrictions to be lifted so I can gather a few friends and dine there!

We came for dinner then drinks/dancing on Friday night. These guys did well amid significant challenges. We were seated outside in the new footpath dining area, which is quite far from the dispense and operates from a makeshift station, so tricky for the staff. There were a few early mix-ups with our drinks/the ordering system, but the host/manager was great at sorting everything out. He assigned Ricky as our waiter and Ricky was wonderful. The food was excellent (I highly recommend the chicken salad!) and came out quickly despite the Friday night rush. Once we moved inside, the staff were very helpful in accommodating us in a booth. And the DJs 2000s music was perfect for us (women in our 30s and 40s) :D Thanks for taking such good care of us :)

Can't keep accurate bar tab, staff didn't know how much was left and party had to pay for drinks when we still had tab left. Other venues use a app with great success. Not sure why they don't implement something similar. We felt we didn't get our value and we didn't know how we spent our tab. Drinks weren't too bad and fairly lively club atmosphere otherwise.

Had a joint 30th birthday event here in one of the private spaces (The Den), on a Saturday night back in March, and it was absolutely perfect for what we had in mind. They were very accommodating for us to bring a cake and decorations to set it up how we'd like it and make sure we were happy. Thank you to Katie who I was liaising with via email and answered my every question leading up to the night, big or small. The canapes were generous and delicious and I cannot get enough of the One Night in Paris cocktail which is so yummy. The mix of music was great with some older and new and we could go out onto the dancefloor later on in the night. A massive thanks to Christos, Dani and Amy for hosting us. We appreciated them being so helpful and friendly and ensured the night went smoothly for us. Loved the vibe of this venue and I recommend for either a private event or dropping in for food and drinks.

Planning my 30th birthday was an exciting and nervous time. I was worried that I would be disappointed, considering how the last few years have been. I wished it to go as smooth as possible. Having been a regular a Long Room (prevoius establishment prior to the George) for many years I was worried that the memories and familiarity would be lost forever. To test the waters I came and had dinner with a family member and spoke with Christos. He made me feel at home from the very moment I set foot within the establishment. We spoke about some of the deals the George offered and I was happy to find something that suited my needs. The special day arrived and as soon as we set foor within the door security made us feel at home and welcomed. Our bottle service for the tonight was Andrea, her beautiful and bubbly personality put a smile on my face, making me feel special. She did everything we where told and much more. She helped as much as possible and much, much more. Christos was attentive and ever helpful. Any issues where correctly and effectively corrected and ammended. With sincerity, future memories would be created and cherished due to the hospitality provided by the staff at the George. I sincerely appreciate every moment of this night and much more. Looking forward to becoming a regular, like in the past. It's a beautiful venue with awesome music and great customer service.

They were both amazing in ensuring my night ran smoothly and that my guests and I were well looked after! Christos was nice enough to touch base with me the following day to ensure I had a great evening. The entire team were very hospitable and it's safe to say that I will be back for lots of food and cocktails in the near future! I actually already have a dinner reservation for 2 weeks time with a group of girlfriends :P

The George on Collins is an impressive venue set back from the main street and gives nothing but classy vibes. It's always a popular spot for after work drinks, but I only recently discovered how good their dinner menu is. My friend and I both had a vegetarian curry which was delicious (not sure if it's still on the menu). It had huge chunks of veges and was super tasty. The small plates look great also, think next time we'll share a few plates so we can try more!

Have been here twice and am very impressed. Cocktails are delicious, food is divine. I like the smaller sizings for meals too, very complementary with drinks. The bar layout is interesting and works well to avoid massive crowding, I was served promptly by lovely staff. I would say there might be some issues with arriving later and getting a table, though a group of mine came quite late and we were still able to be seated after a short wait. Good music and I love that it's not too loud so we can still have a conversation. All in all it seems like you guys have thought of everything so I'm impressed! I've suggested making it the "after work drinks" place for my group and I to use regularly!

i am writing this review to commend the security staff in particular at the Long Room nightclub.They were all very friendly and welcoming when my daughter and I went in there last night ( 9 /7 /2016 ), after leaving the Queen Tribute concert at the Athaneum Theatre.From the men on security out the front to the man inside who allowed us to have a cubicle to have our drinks,it was refreshing to experience such friendly courteous service..In addition, when we were leaving, the security man outside remembered us and invited us back anytime.They are a credit to the nightclub and I will be happy to recommend it.

We have been coming to the George since it was called the long room 15 years ago. 2020 was a tough year all round, the George was a standout as far as communication and evolving in these strange times. We dined there when there was no bar service to show our support. Last night a 5 day lockdown was announced so we figured let’s have a night out, who knows how long the lockdown is going to last. The Effort the staff went to to make it an amazing night out was nothing short of breathtaking. The bar staff were engaging, signature cocktails ( one night in Paris) omg. The mood was electric, like minded people enjoying a night out socialising, engaging, dancing. Saving best to last, Christos managing staff a standout, engaging, amazing energy , looking forward to meeting you and your team again hopefully sooner rather than later working your magic. Grateful for your skills in running such an amazing club, it just keeps getting better.

SIMPLY SENSATIONAL Totally blown away by the amazing taste of the delicious food we received. We went the $70 banquet option and so much food, there is no way you will go home hungry. It was my first visit since it transformed from its prior identity The Long Room - and what a transformation. The long central bar has really improved the layout but of course a bar is nothing without its staff and these guys and girls were amazing. Very attentive and super friendly service which is often hard to find nowadays. The Woodford Reserve Godfather was spot on and a mixologist who was happy to mix cocktails off the list is exactly what you expect from a top of town location. Cool DJs, Brazilian dancers and bar top dancers throughout the night made it an incredible night out. Can’t wait to go back.
