Comments of Time Out Fed Square
A. L.
great friendly service. penne pasta delicious, mushroom arancini divine, fish and cgips lovely. prawn sliders STALE BREAD RUINED THEM, shame about that.
M. T.
Time Out is a great casual restaurant in Fed Square. I took my mum there for her birthday. We were sat outside on a lovely 20 degree day. Service was prompt and friendly. I ordered the fish and chips and my mum had the penne. We had mojitos to drink and a sticky date pudding and apple blueberry crumble for dessert. Everything was fresh and delicious. Would recommend it to others and definitely coming back again.
S. P.
The food was tasty and filling, the folks there are nice and the scenery of the place pretty neat.
P. C.
Great convenient location with good service. Choice to dine inside or outside is available. The quality of the food is okay, it's nothing special unfortunately and the lack of a kids menu was really disappointing.
If you're dining outside in summer, don't forget to wear a hat and put some sunscreen on, the sun can pack a bite! Also worth noting, the bathrooms for this venue are located outside the restaurant.
Y. B.
This place is great for the spot. Right in the middle of Federation square, just by the Xmas tree. It was nice to have a cold beer on a very hot summer day. Service can be a little bit slow, please be patient to staff.
T. M.
Comfortable setting. Very quick service. Good Delish! Reasonable price
J. L.
Good place for some beer and fat 🍟... or even catching up with a mate for coffee , in the middle of fede Square so you can't miss it. 😋🤯
J. T.
The federation square is a great place aside from the beach to get that well needed sun kiss, an Oasis indeed!
We ordered from Time Out Fed Square and had our food delivered to our chosen place of relaxation in the area.
Food was fantastic goes together with the view but was bit disappointed with the orange juice(not in the photo, apologies for not being able to take a photo of it) too much ice, almost half of the plastic cup was ice.
Expect that prices are a bit higher than the standard cafes, first I think is because of the location and the experience you get to have.
P. H.
Great spot near the station food is great. The mango cocktail wasn’t really that good sadly didn’t look or taste like a cocktail for $18.
But really friendly staff .
O. J.
Basic food at good price. Visited on Australia Day just after something simple so poached eggs on toast hit the spot for me and my partner has the chili scrambled eggs.
R. P.
Great spot, and good service. But, quite expensive for what you get.
Calamari was good; as was sweet potato chips. Gnocchi was small. Cheesecake too dense.
M. J.
Nice drinks. Very tasty cakes. My sticky date pudding was a bit dry but an extra scoop of ice creams fixed it (that’s just me, I love lots of sauce). Staff are amazing. Very friendly and polite. I enjoyed my time there.
S.
Me and my wife went to this restaurant with our friends. The location is very convenient and near to Station and Federation Square. The staff were amazing. The guy who served us was so polite and he won our heart by greeting us in Nepali language(our mother tongue).
The pizza was amazing so was the drinks. Will definitely be back in my next visit to Melbourne😊
A. A. B.
The location is excellent. The food is good and The price is expensive. My critics goes to the menu which has been changed from the last time i went. It is a one page menu which does not cover the most popular dishes. Especially for families no kids menu. It is good to have a reduced menu which guarantees quick and good service but it should cover the most popular dishes, a classical burger (pattie not only brisket) pasta dish, pizza, fish and ships. And please invest in some high chairs for babies, they cost $25 in ikea.
A. H.
Good food, pretty great service given they were flat out but we did get given dirty plates/glasses. Otherwise would be 5 stars. Beautiful outlook of fed square, the Yarra and Melbourne City
X. B. R.
Good food good price exceptional service. Highly recommended!
A. A. m.
Great location, right in the middle of Federation Square, haven't tasted the food yet only the dessert which was okay not that great. The flourless cake didn't taste fresh.
L. M.
Our regular lunch spot for family outings to Federation Square. Has a good variety of cafe style food ranging from pizza, pasta, risotto, salads to steak and meat dishes. There is also a selection of refreshing drinks available to laze away a sunny afternoon. The place always seems a hive of activity with young friendly staff and lots of outdoor seating to watch the activities in the square.
J. G.
I visited this cafe today and really enjoyed my brekky! I ordered the pancakes which were delicious; very filling and sweet, the ice cream on top was a great alternative As opposed to a huge dollop of butter. The menu has tons of breakfast and lunch (after 11:30am) option to choose from. A colleague of mine had the Eggs Benedict which tasted great as well. Service was friendly and very fast for how busy the restaurant was. We sat outside and were warm enough under the heaters to enjoy our meal. My only negative for this place was their long black coffee was a bit bitter, and they don’t have any sort of flavouring to be added into lattes! Wish I could’ve had a caramel latte instead of just a plain one. It’s also $1 extra to substitute almond milk, differing from nearby cafes that usually only charge $0.50-$0.70 cents extra. Nonetheless, the food was great and being right in the centre of Fed. Square, it’s a great central location to meet up with people! Would recommend this cafe if you don’t have any of the concerns I listed.
L. S.
Wonderful.. we sat indoors in cool air-conditioned comfort.. terrific menu.. great service.. food was delicious!! We will return!!
b. t.
A nice bar and restaurant located in the Federation square in Melbourne CBD.
It has an outdoor sitting area which is a nice place to catch up with friends in a sunny afternoon.
The food is really good but a bit pricy. Their pizzas, beef burger and bowl of nachos are recommended.
N. B.
Their chicken parmi is very good.
I. W.
Great spot on a beautiful sunny day. Good food and quick friendly service.
J. M.
Awesome place to have some lazy beers just relax with plenty seating under the Xmas tree, friendly staff, quick services!
Z. “. F.
Nice food, and good service in a great location. Great place to sip wine while watching the Fed Square crowds. Also the ice Pims are good.
M. G.
Dropped in to Time Out Fed Square with my disability group for Saturday lunch and could not be happier. We had called ahead on Friday and Michelle arranged a few menu items at special pricing since some members of my group struggle for funding. Great food, amazing staff and that understanding attitude really made our day trip to the city something special. Thanks Time Out!
P. H.
Great location, food was tasty, big portions and our waiter Ronan was so attentive and friendly.
Definitely coming back!
N. G.
Service is excellent
Very nice place for a snack , a drink & for lunch & dinner
love the chicken satay & passion fruit sponge as well as the steak sandwich
a. t.
This cafe has a pretty nice ambience. The food and beverages are above average but nothing to rave about. Staff was friend could be a little more responsive. We ended up having to stand up sometimes to get their attention. Sticky date pudding and chai latte are good!
D. M.
A bit noisy but as everything else we tried had a long wait this was the best option. We all enjoyed our food nothing to complain about but nothing to rave about either. Good fast service was good.
M. V.
Super central location with a lovely terrace but very fair prices for all that. I had sweet potato wedges; a starter that could count towards a whole meal. Flavour was equally impressive. My friends had mojitos (good) and a chocolate delight (didn't even get the chance to take a picture, that's how quickly it went). Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere. Give it a try for that afternoon break after traipsing around the city exploring!
S. K.
Faultless. Really unbelievable great friendly service, we had a group of 9 and the waitress remembered everyones order. The food took no longer than 10 minutes. The food was absolutely devine!! Simply perfect. Thank you for the best start to a morning!
R. Z.
Great location if you fancy something central in Melbourne. During the Australian open it perfect since fed square has a giant screen to watch the matches. Food is good and they have humongous bowl of chips if you love potato chips.
A. S.
We had coffee and juices here, and they were all good
The staff were just good too
J. T.
We had a group of 12 for brunch on a busy Saturday morning. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating and the food and drink orders all came through in a good amount of time. The food orders which had numerous changes were all correct and the food was delicious. We will definitely be visiting this cafe again.
J. Y.
Classic Chicken Parma with a side of thick cut chips and salad. Tasty, large portion, reasonable price and friendly service.
P. N.
Loved the atmosphere of the place and vibes facing the street. Loved the Angus burger and my wife loved the Seafood Risotto.
N. J.
Food was good. Service was lacking. Not sure if waiter forgot to put our order in but tables that ordered after us were served first, one having eaten and left before we got our small order of chips and pizza.
Cocktails were nice and fair priced
Qr code ordering didn't work which if it had would have made up for lack of wait staff on busy evening
C. J. V.
Nice central location, warm friendly staff. Very comfy atmosphere during wet morning. Mocha and hot chocolate perfect.
S. D.
I’ve returned here again one Friday night in 21 after a Long Covid break. I used to stop here often before that. I didn’t mind it before as a quick stop coffee break or lunch. Happy to say I think it’s gotten better. The menu is pretty good and the staff are very friendly. Food came out reasonably quick on a busy night.
Only problem that they can’t be blamed for is the toilet are Fed Square public toilets. They don’t have their own.
Over all it’s worth a visit. I’ll continue going there as I have for years now
M. D.
We had brunch there on the weekend we ordered latte's which arrived luke warm.
Our meals where hit and miss, some ordered fat chips with their meal @ an extra $5 and got a measly amount of chips.
Will not return again.
Our server was helpful and friendly though.
R. M.
Great atmosphere, little bit above average chips and burger (wagyu). Amazing service and people, would recommend.
L. J.
Good food and great service at a very convenient location. Would recommend for a good catch up with friends.
A. S.
Generous serves, lovely food and engaging staff, cocktails were good too!
P. B.
Food was delicious, quick and pleasant service. Don't know what the trick is with the sweet potato chips but they're the bomb.
In addition, overheard one of the staff assisting an elderly lady to get in touch with her yet to arrive companion. Indicative, I feel, of a positive and caring culture. Will return.
c.
Friendly staff and some really tasty entrees...try the Korean sauced chicken and multi-cheesed cigars.
R. M.
Tasty food and friendly service. We wandered in just after 9.30 on a Saturday and could still get table food service (not sure if that's typical, but in suburbs after 9 good luck finding open food options) so it was a nice surprise it wasn't drinks only. Sitting outside and looking across at Flinders lights and fed square is relaxing. Location is super convenient and typically our go to in the area for a reliable option. Iced coffee could be colder, but the 'quenchers' of various flavours fill in for a refreshing chilly drink.
S.
Decent Mojito. Chocolate Delight was da bomb! Friendly service. Nice sunshine spot out of the wind. Good price deals after 15h00. A bit surprised at the low(er) Google rating...
T. S.
Nice food. Delicious pizza. All kind of drinks available. $12 for cocktails after 3pm. There is 10% surcharge on weekends and 15% on public holidays.
s. g.
Probably would've been a 4 if I didn't get a drink dropped on me hah!
Venue is nice and staff friendly enough. Only real downside was how indifferent the meal was in terms of flavour. Definitely not bad, but nothing to remember
A. S. B.
Really nice and cozy ambiance! Good burgers and decent nachos! The people serving here are really polite and very nice people!
H. B.
Aussie burger was tasty. Drinks menu is nice. View and surroundings are pleasant.
H. A.
Fantastic food here for a great price. Would definitely recommend the chicken burger, the sauce it comes with is to die for. 💖
Had a great time with very nice staff and didn't feel pressured to move on, so it was very relaxing. 😊
L. R.
Service was good. Good options for vegan/vegetarian/gluten free. Some of the food was a bit lack luster for quiet Saturday morning brunch. Some of group found what they ordered was really good.
I. I.
Delicious parma and garlic pizza. Nice service and price also.
R. S.
Nice place to hangout with group. Friendly waiter and very patients with us. Nice view if you seat outside.
D. M.
Food was good, loved it, would definitely go again
R.
Good place for coffee and drinks but not for lunch and dinner.
B. L.
Whenever I'm in the area for a day out I come here for something to eat. I love the satay skewers! Food is really good, staff are mostly friendly and a good atmosphere. Can sit inside or out
U. N.
Nice place for breakfast. Lots of tables and foods do come out quick. Good for travelers who need a quick breakfast before starting the days.
C. S.
Great location, quick service and friendly staff. Craft beer is beautiful.
D. J. (. -. B. A.
The steak... Mmm the steak! Mash and broccolini were great a side too!
N. L.
Little bit pricey but good food and good service.
J. B.
The coffees here are consistently some of the best I've had in Melbourne, surprisingly so for such a spot. Chicken skewers here never disappoint and the Pumpkin pizza is quite tasty. The dinner menu looks very nice but the portion sizes seem very big. Nice selection of cakes available too. I come to this cafe fairly often and I must say that the staff here are absolutely wonderful. My friends and I love coming here as we are always treated so well. The young Irish man Keith is a star, we love when he is working! Such genuine service is quite hard to find these days. The whole cafe was laughing today!
K. S.
Nice experience. Amazing employee served us, polite and attentive! Excellent location, good house red. Food was nicely cooked but just needed a little more flavour and seasoning. If you’re scared of birds, don’t sit outside - they’re partial to a chicken parm and will steal it 😂
N. W.
Given its central location it's surprising this place isn't more popular. The prices are reasonable for the portion sizes, particularly the specials. They were understaffed for a Friday evening so service took quite a while but otherwise friendly and helpful enough.
J. G.
Great atmosphere and menu with lots to choose from. A good place to go for a night out.
T. O.
Had lunch at Time out, waitress messed up order but was really apologetic.
M. D.
The young party goers were out in force on a Thursday summer evening. The music outside is pretty loud so not great for convo, but good 4 people watching & soaking up the city vibe
r. c.
Popped in to pick up a take away coffee, very warm and friendly staff. Kudos for using a recyclable bamboo cup, however the $6.70 for a soy latte was hard to swallow.
B. T. T.
Amazing staff. Incredibly polite and easy to talk too.
Great set up on seating with ability to cater small to large groups. Ability to also be seated inside or outside between umbrella stands is a delight.
Very competitive prices in food and drinks with an awesome selection of cakes and sweets.
H. K.
I think the food was great but the chicken pizza rarely had chicken pieces on top. Otherwise, great service and food came out at a reasonable time
G. A.
One of the best place to go for a catch up!
The view is a bit crowded, but when you are seated, there is a lot of space from the crowd and have your privacy.
It's a bit hard to get staff to take your order especially when you're seated outside, but also take consideration that the place is always busy.
Food is excellent and a bit on the expensive side. Big portion of food provided. Cocktails are a bit strong than usual.
R. F.
Good food and service. Worth a visit if your around fed square.
N.
Overpriced coffee! And one day they even ran out of coffee and had to refund my colleagues purchases. Very bizarre experience. The staff were quite friendly on both occasions
P. P.
Great service and fantastic food. It's an icon in the area and worth the stop.
P.
Nice place and well situated with indoor and outdoor areas.
Staff were .... .... let's say they were very busy. Must have been with customers outside because there were very few customers inside.
Coffee and Tea were good and reasonably priced. A smallish carrot cake was quite nice but for $9, I expected better.
G. D.
We dine here fairly regularly for Breakfast or lunch or Morning/ Afternoon tea when ever we come into the city. Food is always consistently good, with sufficient quantity and fairly priced. The one thing that is hit and miss each time is the table service. Sometimes its good and sometimes it's very poor. I believe that this is due to the high rate of foreign travelers/experience wait staff they have working here. Fix this issue and the rating would be alot higher.
E. T. L.
We had our staff Christmas lunch at Timeout today and the whole team loved it! Great way to end the year. Super friendly staff, great atmosphere, super tasty drink options and share plates. Would definitely be back again for the satay skewers and nachos!
G. F.
Really friendly service, food was delicious and reasonably priced and the drinks were wonderful as well. Had the mango colada! Definitely recommend.
D. B.
Great service and a yummy lunch.
W.
Decent food for a decent price. Great location right in fed square. Good service. Food wasn't quite 5 star.
C. B. F.
Great views of the city, amazing food. Highly recommend the salt and pepper calamari entree. One the tastiest calamari dishes I’ve had. The young blonde Irishman from Cork was a delight, best service I’ve had in a long time. Coffee was nice and hot, not bad at all.
B. C.
Really good food for not bad prices. The servings on the share plates are huge and everything tasted great. The halloumi and the chips were stand out. Nice cocktail menu, with a great afternoon special price. Good, easy going place for a catch up, a no frills, super convenient place. All of the staff were lovely and the service was prompt.
M. S.
The vibe outdoor was perfect for an early dinner with the family!
N. F. H.
Code Black iced coffee was yum! And they catered for a big group really effectively.
j. W.
The music is very loud and you feel so hustle and unrest. But the waitress are very helpful and friendly. Most of us nowadays would enjoy in a cafe with peace and quiet atmosphere so that we can read, or do some ipad work.
P. C. K.
Nice location and friendly staff. Good place to grab a drink or coffee if you need to be near Flinders Street Station. Nice outdoor seating area. The portions for both food and drink are generous. The food is not the best though. Pretty average pizza and nachos unfortunately, kind of like the pizza or nachos you get at a cheap pub.
R. A.
I came by April 2019, I had breakfast with my sister , a wonderful time and fantastic food, great customer service nice friendly staff, we sat out side was a bit cold we just asked them if we can have heater on. they immediately came over and did it , it made us feel welcome then we had tea and beautiful toast with butter and jam, feta omelette, and fantastic delicious toasted muesli, love it. we just had wonderful time. the best part I did ask 2 times
boiling water , and the girls delivery it with smiling face to me, I didn't feel bad. thank you all keep doing ur good job well done. .
d. m.
As I live locally this place is central [across the road from Flinders Street Station and part of Federation Square]. It has had a few face lifts and menu changes over the years, but the consistent is the great food they serve, and good sized portions. Prices are a little on the high side especially if you are a tourist, family or on a budget. They have a great outdoor area and of course the indoor area.
K.
Great restaurant located at beautiful Federation Square. The food is delicious and dishes ordered are served quickly, nice and hot. Energetic and friendly waiting staff members, including Alex are great. Service with a smile. Highly recommended.
S. K.
Great menu but seems a little limited.
The food was perfect with a great range of drinks to match.
Staff were rushed but never flustered and had real smiles on their faces. A great place for a meal or just a drink.
M. W.
Time Out FS was our very last minute unit base for a major shoot we had in Fed Square this week for Kia cars, and the team were so incredibly welcoming, accommodating and took care of our massive crew for three days running from dawn till dusk, nothing was too much trouble. Including giving the wonderful Keith nearly 100 coffee orders! Everyone thought the food was fantastic - which was great for me as I had a happy crew. Great vibe. Great venue. Great staff. Great food. Great coffee. Would recommend to any production! I'll be back myself - without an order for 27 lunches at a time! Thank guys x
M. p.
Yes. If you are trying to decide where to get a breakfast after a night in the city.
L. M.
Service was quick and food and $12 cocktails a hit. Service was awesome too. 2nd time here and will be back.
D. L.
Fantastic venue, delicious food, great coffee and phenomenal people who run this venue with an iron fist. Time Out has a vibrant and modern take on customer service. My go to spot, 10/10 would recommend. The breath taking sunsets in the late afternoon make this the ideal place to be when enjoying exotic evening drinks with friends and especially guests. Family friendly, sophisticated and generous.
R. G.
Not a great experience
I had a hot chocolate which was bitter and tasted burnt
I ended up putting 3 packs of sugar in to make it drinkable
Will give it another go
But probably not for a while
S.
Pretty unclean, table we were given should have been wiped down first (remember COVID-19) waitress had too many tables to look after and took way to long to take orders
J. M.
Food is good and semi-reasonably priced. Drinks are good too. Atmosphere is good and if you can sit outside on a hot day even better. Only downside is service can sometimes be slow so don't stop in if you have a time limit.
S. B.
Not bad. Was able to accommodate my request for gf meal, although it would have been nicer if the toast had been buttered as it was rather dry
T. N. (.
Good location for people watching. Avocado on toast was excellent.
S. D.
Came here with a friend for dessert and a cuppa. Very pleased with the price of the coffee and cake deal. I had a small hot chocolate instead of coffee or tea. Had Cadbury choc added. Not too sweet, fantastic chocolate flavour. Perfect.
I had apple and berry crumble it was the best crumble I have ever had. The base was so yummy (maybe a biscuit base?), not too thick, just right. Filled with chunks of apple and berries. Loved that there was plenty of fruit which was not swimming in syrup. Enjoyed the fruit & berry flavours which were sweet, but not that sickly sweet syrupy flavour. Topping had oats and flour and had a great texture and again not too sweet. Thanks for a perfect dessert!
K. A. O. V.
We had a wonderful breakfast at Time Out last week. Their potato rosti is to die for!! Can't wait to return for more treats as restrictions continue to ease. Highly recommend!
H. R.
Amazing food and serves town’s best Baileys Hot Chocolate.
J. M.
Great meal friendly staff
S. R.
Went there for a late breakfast, 10.30ish, rainy day, thought we would stop in and see what the rave is about...
Service was great, very quick to get us seated and take our orders.
Food and drinks came out within 10 minutes even though it was busy so I’m very impressed by that.
However their downfall was that the pancakes and eggs benny were both cold when served... it was a cold, wet day, and the food followed suit. Took one bite, instantly knew that the quick service was too good to be true. Whole dish was cold. Really let them down. Also for $19, the eggs benny was pretty bare. Yes the taste and food was good but the temperature and quantity was not up to standard.
f. c.
Good service. Grilled salmon looks & taste good. Weekend has 10% surcharge. Location is great in front of Flinders St Station. Ideal place for catching up with friends taking the train.
L. P.
Fantastic coffee. Quick service.
R.
I’ve dinned here multiple times for brunch and dinner and not once have I been disappointed. Amazing food to go with a perfect view in the heart of the city.
C. C.
A great clean environment overlooking Fed square with in/outdoor seating with heaters in winter. Lovely and vibrant orange shaded brollies provide coverage from the sun in summer. If you're wanting a touristy spot this is it. You will pay slightly more than average for food and drinks, all designed in attracting the tourist dollar. Having said that the food is quite good but portions a little on the small side. Nice for people watching.
N. S.
We liked our food and quick service from very attentive staff. It was a very busy day, but everything was perfect.
L. P.
A wonderful lunch place.
We sat outside in the sun. Food and service all wonderful. Lots of seagulls unfortunately.
S. G.
Great nachos
Great cocktails
Great cocktail deal after 3pm
Great place to start your city trip
Lots of space indoors and outdoors (lots of covered outdoor space)
S. O.
Very nice coffee with beautiful environment
I. Y.
Nice place in the heart of Federation Square. Only 2 minutes walk from Flinders Street train station. Try to catch a train, bus, or tram as parking might be hard and/or expensive. We weren't offered the menu, instead she asked us what we would we like. We just got coffee even though I wanted to get something else. Overall nice place for breakfast.
L. W.
Went here for the convenience of being just across the road from Flinders st station and was going to the Tennis.
What a wonderful find. With dining inside and outside under umbrellas. Delicious food, friendly staff that were quick to serve you with a smile. Awesome cocktails. I will definitely go here again. Even if it is just for a drink and to watch the world go by.
J. F.
Cocktails were lovely. Service has really improved since my last visit. The food is very fresh and tasty. Would definitely go again when in town again.
A. M.
Great lunch spot, very convenient for. Great food and coffee will definately be back
l. c.
Just average, Good location though.
N. P.
Great location, great service and great food. After my mother and I tried to find a restaurant that allows under 18 year olds we walked up to this restaurant and got a seat straight away inside. The staff was lovely putting down the blinds for us as it was very sunny. The food came out extremely fast and it tasted and looked amazing (may I suggest the morrocan lamb burger, aka best burger I've had). Great location for teenagers with their families.
A. I.
I really like this diner style place. Reasonably priced food and good cocktails. Service can be hit-and-miss, but for free parking I'm not complaining! Ties in well with a concert or a show.
A.
Nice place to rest your weary legs and enjoy a momentary respite while watching the Australian Open on the big screen on Federation Square. Waiters could be more attentive at times but other than that a good place to head for lunch.
K. W.
Pleasant service, nice ambience and long bench for big group, good coffee.
C. C.
Nice busy place centrally located in Federation square opposite Flinders street railway station. Always busy with a broad range of food an beverages on offer. Good for a quick drink or meal or simply soaking up the surroundings.
R. F.
We enjoyed a pleasent lunch with friends there. A bit noisy as you are above the train lines and the floor vibrates regularly. Food was good and service was also reasonable.
D. H.
I've visited a few times on busy days and have been able to get a table quite quickly. Food was good and well priced. Staff were all friendly.
p. h.
Good food as always .
And a good range of beers and wines to keep all happy
A. T.
Tried the Calamari, Thai curry chicken with rice, they were good. The curry was good with rich coconut milk, chicken was good and not been over cooked.
No issue with sunny day with light wind, not recommended to sit outdoor when windy and shower.
A. R.
This is a great place to hang out. Very comfy place to meet someone and talk. We had coffee and pancakes which were great. The service is the best I had so far.

The iced chocolate was Great! The nachos were very good and mushrooms were lovely. This restaurant should be a good place to eat.
c. X.
My favourite place to visit everyday while i was in Australia, staff is very friendly and the food and cocktails is amazing. Having a cocktail while looking at the most amazing views.
A. G.
Great for a quick bite with friends or family dinners. Booths sit a large quantity and the atmosphere is very chill. Wait staff are friendly. Great selection of drinks and food
A. F.
Great choices of food. If anyone loves chicken and roasted pumpkin salad I absolutely recommend it. Had it yesterday for lunch and it was amazing!! This restaurant is perfect for all ages.
O. D. (.
really good experience here we stopped in before the state of origin expecting our meals to take forever because of the place was booked out the service was fantastic and they were able to seat us straight away. The food was quick and the beer aint bad either...
L. K.
Caught up with a friend for drinks. What a lovely location to sit outside in the lovely Melbourne sun. Enjoyed a couple of glasses of sauvignon blanc each and a bowl of crispy chips with fresh aioli..yumm. The staff were great and very attentive on a very busy Friday night.
R. L.
Nice place for a coffee and break
B. C.
Always my favourite place to grab a cup of joe, but this morning's coffee we ordered ( A latte and a Cappuccino) weren't the best they could offer. Wondering whether they have changed a barista. We also ordered big Fed and Atlantic eggs which were both awesome.
A. R. C.
Great food and drink. Always busy but still quick service. Good atmosphere. Reasonable prices. 😀😀😀
S. S.
Good location
Always come here for their Sticky Date
C. F.
Food was great and great value for money. The service was fantastic and would recommend to all.
J. F.
Great for a meal with the family before the game at the "G". Tasty pub style meals.
A. F.
Have always loved Timeout. The atmosphere, convenience, attentive staff and variety of food here = joy. So easy & right on the heart of Melbourne :)
M. B.
Great food and cocktails. Bit of confusion with service so this is my minus star rating reason. Definitely would go back though.
K. X.
Really good food, especially the eggs benedict and sweet potato wedges. Great for breakfasts. Would definitely recommend this place to others.
A. N.
Tried the Veg Out and Smashed Avocado on their breakfast menu and it wasn't the usual breakfast dishes I expected. They were trying too hard to be fancy and when they arrived, it didn't have the "hearty" feeling to it.
The zucchini rosti in Veg Out was very good and savoury but the scrambled eggs was disappointing. My girlfriend wanted poached eggs with her Smashed Avocado and they forgot about it but promptly replace it soon after.
Staff was friendly and fast but for a breakfast for two with an OJ and two coffees, the bill came close to $60 which I thought was quite expensive.
Would I be back? Maybe. But there's better and cheaper options for breakfast along Southbank which is 2 minutes away.
e. d.
Easy place to drop into for a latish bite and a drink. Prompt service and easy entrees make for a comfortable visit.... does close earlyish so don’t get impression it’s a bar
M. K.
The chips were crunchy. Nice food
C. d. J. (.
Been here several times over the years and always excellent. Great variety on menu, dishes and drinks always of a high standard.
M. Y.
Reliably good. Had a great espresso and try the mango bellini, yum.
T. A.
A very unpleasant environment, the staff make you feel very unwelcome. The waiters are rude and obviously discriminate against young adults. The service is terrible and it is the kind of place you want to pay and go as quickly as you can.
E. R.
Best place to meet up right in middle of City and outdoor. Food ok coffee good service good. Not as expensive as you might expect worth a visit
P. P.
Good place and good ambience!
m. w.
Always good here, although busy food was great staff very good wait time good. Good covid practices here
W. C.
Nestled in Federation Square, this place could not lack for public interest. However, the menu seemed quite untempting, and the service was ok (probably from being so busy). There was nothing wrong with the soup of the day (potato and leek served with fresh batard $8.50) and it came quite quickly, however, see it for what it is... an eatery that has the good luck of being in a very busy location.
C. J.
Nice food. It was quiet and calm when we visited so it was a nice respite from the city outside. Coffee was good.
L. E.
Food was good and so was the tap beer. no server came to our table for atleast 10 minutes with the menu so that was an inconvenience.
S. T.
Fantastic service and food is generous. That's great!
S. A.
The customer service is great and love the menu. Would recommend
R. D.
I am a huge fan of their Bailey's Lattes. Best in Melbourne. Always stop in if going past. Have had several meals, always good.
P. H.
Good service and coffee. The food quality is variable and the quesadillas are terrible. They bear no resemblance to what they should be and are best avoided.
C. W.
Great place for pre or post theatre meals and drinks. Enjoyed $12 cocktails! We will be back, and you should give it a go!
p. m.
Great place to eat food was good ,staff were excellent , great atmosphere .
J. X.
A nice chilled placed in the busy square with good table service and very friendly staff. The trio dips and pimms cocktail is very refreshing on a sunny day.
r. k.
Smoothies are sickly sweet. Chose a mango smoothy thinking it would be a healthy option but it is made with sickly sweet syrup, like what you'd use as icecream topping. Nothing healthy about that 😣
M. R.
Lunch experience not too bad. Bit pricey for what it was and service a little lacking: also a bit to fast.
Wouldn't go out of my way to visit but handing if you're passing and need lunch.
T. G.
Had breakfast here this morning, so good we went back tonight for dinner. Excellent service and great food with a varied menu
R. L.
A great relaxed vibey restaurant with affordable dishes, good ambience ans centrally located right opposite Flinders Street Station. Great service staff.
A. H. A. M.
Good coffee
A. J.
Mars moose is pretty good and the tea comes hot.
S. W.
Service was fast and waiter was nice but pizza was awful and very expensive.
Good place for drinks!
C. S.
The (possibly) manager's service this morning when I was a but confused about the breakfast options was honestly some of the best service I've ever had! Thank you
X. P.
Not the greatest and trendiest place to eat in the CBD but the food is decent and tasty and it’s an easy place to meet. If you are just looking for a quick feed with no hassle try this place
M. M.
Great variety of food and drinks. Good location to meet up with friends for theatre, concerts or footy. Have been going there for years.
K. P.
good food. good service for a reasonably quick meal and drink, Can be very busy both inside and out
E. N.
Both capuccino and chai latte we're great! Good place to chill, gaze around and enjoy the sun (and of course, enjoy Melbourne).
M. M.
Little expensive for drinks but chicken satay here is delicious. We took nachos one plate n chicken satay (4 in a plate).Nachos was given with Mexican style topping.
S.
What an amazing relaxing restauarant at Fed Square. Share breakfast Time Out feast with buisness associates today. Great service , Great atmosphere Well Priced.
B. F.
A tad costly, however given the lock downs, I think they need to. Really lovely staff and fast service.
B. W.
Pleasant but a bit expensive.
T.
Average food in a good location. Music was unreasonably loud indoors.
S. B. W.
I'd definitely come again. Love the location and pretty spacious for a place that seems small. Service was friendly and welcoming.
S. V.

Great meal, great price. One staff member was particularly rude and incompetent. All the rest were tops. 9/10 would eat again
B. F.
Food was good, convenient location, good indoor and outdoor space.
x. x.
Delicious dinner only downfall overpriced for the portion you are given, but it's a great spot for a coffee catch up with friends.
L.
Food was delicious and was delivered nice and quick.
P. H.
The scrambled chilli eggs where well worth it, very tasty.
A. N.
Had fried chicken burger here before heading to theater, the most delicious fried chicken burger ever! Highly recommend it.
S. B.
Went for Brunch, had an ok Berry Smoothie, but terrible bacon and eggs.
Staff are too busy, and don't listen/take orders very well.
C. G.
Had a meal and a few drinks. A good place to start the evening
B. F.
Ignore the ratings, it’s excellent coffee and good food. Service is pretty good too.
A. B.
Disappointed with the dip trio and busy cocktail. Great service, nice atmosphere and good location.
T. L.
Nice atmosphere, but the steak sandwhich was very boring and very meaty. Could have a side salad
T. R.
Beautiful location, tasty menu, great staff.... What more could you want?
P. W.
Big open air area
N.
Average food, average service, nothing special. Quite pricey for the quality of food provided.
E. S.
10% surcharge for weekends seems a bit much. But the food drinks and service are all good.
M. L.
Everything was good and it was a nice place to have lunch with family and friends.
M. N.
Who would guess? This commercial cafe out does most of the wanky cafes on Lygon and St Kilda. Great food. Better service.
L. F. W.
A great spot to meet for a coffee or a cocktail, a snack or a meal. Conveniently centrally located and close to the station. Wander along the river to work off the cake.
T. H.
Nice enough cafe. Great location.
D. T.
Good location for an outdoor drink in the sun but in any other weather you probably won't want to come here. Convenient location to meet friends
G. A.
Been here numerous times for lunch, dinner and coffee. Always great and coeliac friendly.
W. B.
Good place for a quick drink or some food, minor inconvenience that you have to go inside to pay. May have been a one off not sure.

Great position, lovely coffee but the rudness of staff and their poor attitude toward customer service does not make this the perfect spot to meet friends.
